um.... there actually is if everybody is pulling their weight. there actually is with time to spare. Especially if everybody is rotating hooks and not playing immersed
No, there mathematically is not enough time, particularly in solo-q. Unless you can break the laws of time or you're a hacker you physically cannot do all 5 totems and generators.

Do you REALLY think that would be possible? Like... really?
unironically yes, it would be very possible to do so. not to complete 4man tournament sweat squad levels of information but bringing solos up a lot more than they are now is possible. bhvr just dont want to for some damn reason.

@GoodBoyKaru is correct noed with facecamping bubba. Totems take 72 seconds gens take 80 seconds each. If first survivor downs 30 seconds in chase you cannot do all the gens with 3 guaranteeing a 2 to 3k by facecamping with noed.

So I played SMITE for 5 years. If you don't know SMITE is a MOBA, so in the game there was a character that absolutley dominated every game it was in. So the obvious solution is to buff everything else around it! No, you nerf the problem. I'm not arguing SWFs need a nerf here, but buffing everything else around one gameplay aspect is how you kill your game. SMITE has tried buffing around characters before, and during those time periods player numbers dropped immensley. Nobody wants to play a game where everything is OP
The difference being that a character in smite was the issue, a symmetrical MOBA. DBD is asymmetric and subsequently follows a whole different rule set.
SWF are what keeps this game going, bringing in new people and having old people stay. You cannot nerf it.
-
1) Honestly not much. Wraith buff which was nice, and soon to eb huntress add-on change and demo buff.
2) Last 2 chapters were disappointing, had mediocre perks on an unfun killer. New UI is bad for all but the hook counter. Map reworks shafted Autohaven, Gideon, made Ormond more bearable and Asylum worse.
3) Not really, the brought back faith by buffing Trickster and then shat on it by not listening to one of the most requested features and instead stuck it on a perk.
4) Pallets don't stun killers :))
2-3, meh-bad time to return. Save the excitement for the resident evil chapter

You have two choices....
You can accept that your team will let you down sometimes, or you can carry harder. It's up to you. But it's not NOED's fault randoms are going to random.
Me personally? I can't deal with teammates that don't pull their weight and I got tired of trying to carry harder, so I just play killer.
You clearly missed the point of my post.
There is physically not enough time in a match to do all 5 gens and all 5 totems unless you're literal gods to prevent the killer getting a 2k. Minimum.

Not every game needs to be comparable to a SWF game. Killers already have it hard enough as it is, especially in SWF games.
And the only way to make sure they don't have this hard time without killing the game is to buff solos and then superbuff killers

NOED is not rewarding the killer for doing nothing - it's punishing the survivors FOR FAILING TO DO THEIR OPTIONAL OBJECTIVE

But they did what survivors asked for.
I mean, when killers struggled with keeping gens alive after the Ruin nerf, the devs gave us Undying. Then they nerfed Undying, but at least we can keep totem stacks.
Now survivors got a similar treatment. Small Game got stacks. I doubt that the devs will nerf Small Game after a few months, but who knows...
But that's the thing, they do everything in perks. They fix all of the game issues in perks so whenever someone complains it's just "Oh, run that perk" like, I don't have 50 slots on either side.
Fixes need to be implemented in the actual game. Basekit totem counters, chase indicators, a basic ping system, better totem spawns, longer generator times, better regression etc.

Survivors have some of those perks so killers don't play like ass either. Its no fun getting unhooked then immediately tunneled is it? Or getting slugged for 4 minutes? Or being facecamped. These perks exist to give survivors a actual game. Personally i never run decisive because i can last longer than it in chase. Also the standing in place was just a example but as totem spawns get harder "do bones" becomes less viable. But imagine facing a stridor spirit and barely managing to do the last gen then bam noed hit. Sorry for not doing bones against the 2nd strongest killer in the game.
Do bones. Good luck if you're solo though :)

And you want it EARNED. When it is earned because YOU as a survivor didn't cleanse the totems. Or run DH + map and just wait until it's active and find it in 30 seconds.

Then the game is doomed anyway, because you cant balance around swf and solo at the same time, and yeah, it wont happen. So on long term, when both solo and killer base breaks away, the game is dead anyway.
"because you cant balance around swf and solo at the same time"
You could, actually, by giving solos more information to being them closer to swf. So don't even try that one.

Why? And dont give me the "no killer would go against swf", because thats the point of both modes being balances seperatly.
Also, i always red from killers that want some killers nerfed that they like the challange.
Unless you think swf wont play anymore if they dont have an unfair advantage.
3man SWFs wouldn't exist anymore.
2man SWFs would have to have other 2man SWFs to play with.
It splits the player base, causing longer queues for everyone. The reasoning the devs don't want to add other game modes is because of this splitting of the player base.
So yes, it would kill the game

Yeah I figured you'd be reasonable in the first point. It's nice lol.
And for the second part, it's mostly an issue with swfs existing unfortunately. In concept swf sounds like a great idea but in actual play it's super busted and will be no matter what changes are made due to coms existing in a game that is meant to have each player be provided limited knowledge. Swf will continue to be stronger regardless of changes because map awareness is the strongest thing in the game as a survivor and nothing can be changed to address those when coms will always be available. I wish it weren't the case but it really is
It's an unfortunate truth that you can never have swf and solo be equal but you can attempt to get them closer. Unfortunately it looks like bhvr don't even want to try.
-
@sulaiman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2124379#Comment_2124379
Wrong. Its the other way around. SWF shouldn´t get these information for free, while being balanced with solo in one game mode.
You just cant prevent it. Buffing solos is but one way. But since i like the lack of information in this game, i would rather have swf and solos seperated and balanced seperatly, because you can never buff solo so much that it has the same information and reliability as an swf-team.
Balance swf and solo seperately and give them two seperate queues and you kill the game.

And this is how a Secondary Objective should work.
It's insurance at the cost of extra time, and isn't a necessity.
If you want to open the Gates fast, just hyper focus gens.
The Killer may or may not have NOED (or some other unnoticed Hex Perk), and the choice is yours if you want to take the time to cleanse them preemptively.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2124379#Comment_2124379
Yes, they should. As in-game mechanics largely ignore human error. See Kindred: Shows exact Aura location/direction of the Killer vs. "They're on me/off me, going to 2-person gen/solo gen". With Totems you're also ignoring lack of communication of a totem cleanse/the "how many did we cleanse?" communication.
I'm not against improving solo, but just slapping down the existing perks as base-kit provides information with too much clarity. Global Audio cue for a Totem cleanse (that the player has to remember), and perhaps Survivors Aura intensity changing based on Killer proximity to hook is fine, but Kindred Wall-hacks/UI counter stay behind Perks.
I'm not saying to make entire perks basekit. I'm saying just for the totem counter to be basekit.
They shouldn't have to use perks to get information SWF get for free, because a coordinated swf will very rarely make said human error. "He's chasing me around a jungle gym to the right of main building window" gives more than enough information, but having a ping system in the game is enough.
The totem counter should not stay behind a perk because you cannot balance totems around that. They'll either be very strong vs solos without the perk, weak af vs swf without the perk, weak vs solos with the perk, and entirely useless vs swf with the perk.
Not to mention 1 swf member has to run the perk to give 4 people value whilst all 4 solos must run the perk giving them the same value. Solos aren't the people that need handicaps with perks, swf are.

Personally I'd be much more open to a counter if they first fixed totem spawns and made totems beefier/more defensible. They are just way to easy to shut down even in solos which is why you don't see most of the hex perks used on top of some totem perks don't need to be totem perks (such as crowd control).
Until they fix these things, they don't need to add a counter base.
The argument that swf get something for free isn't a great basis to me honestly since they get tons of info for free (such as where the killer is most of the game without perks, certain perks become way more powerful in swf, etc). That's an issue with swf and not an issue with solos. There is also the fact that the counter largely doesn't matter outside of noed (besides having more chances to get bp) since most hex perks let you know they are active pretty quickly.
Noed is not nearly as common as people make it out to be. One night I played 20 games in a row and counted each game with noed (whether it became active or not) and only 1/4 had it and most of those it wasn't active. Noed is too weak imo but that's just my hot take
"Personally I'd be much more open to a counter if they first fixed totem spawns and made totems beefier/more defensible. They are just way to easy to shut down even in solos which is why you don't see most of the hex perks used on top of some totem perks don't need to be totem perks (such as crowd control)."
And everyone that I know who's wanted solo buffs have also talked about buffs across the board to killer game mechanics- totems take longer to cleanse and are hidden better, gens are slower, killers quicker, their perks stronger.
" The argument that swf get something for free isn't a great basis to me honestly since they get tons of info for free (such as where the killer is most of the game without perks, certain perks become way more powerful in swf, etc). That's an issue with swf and not an issue with solos. "
And that 'Issue with swf' must be taken into account to balance the game. It isn't going anywhere and you can't nerf swf without killing dbd so buffing solos and killers is the only other option.
" There is also the fact that the counter largely doesn't matter outside of noed (besides having more chances to get bp) since most hex perks let you know they are active pretty quickly."
This one I agree with, kind of. Perks like Inner Strength still exist and knowing if your team are on gens or totems is valuable information you just don't get. Noed only takes this issue and exacerbates it.

I don't mind it as PH because I can hit people through walls and pallets. I do mind it though when I have to break these pallets cause I never normally do that. Also stairs.
As other killers, it's moreso that by the time you've broken every pallet it's game over. You couldn't ever get enough pressure to prevent a survivor from doing a gen because they held w, pressed space, and waited for you to break it, rinse and repeat.

I beg to differ,we dont need a totem counter or a buckle up basekit. What i am trying to say is that in solo Q in a LOT of games u get people who are wasting valuable time for no reason,u know hiding behind rocks because they dont know where the kiler is etc.People that dont have as many hours played as experienced folks. We all understand that i suppose.
What i suggested is a good start for new players to invest in that info and do objectives instead of wasting time.
Yes, we do.
Solos shouldn't have to use items, perks, or add-ons for information that SWF get for free. Making them do so is what keeps this game so unbalanced and prevents dbd from getting better.
"basekit. What i am trying to say is that in solo Q in a LOT of games u get people who are wasting valuable time for no reason,"
Oh you mean like searching for a dull totem in an area of the map where the totem has already been cleansed which they'd know about were they playing SWF as someone could've said "totem at shack done" but they're solo and don't know where when or if any dulls have been cleansed?

the problem with this change is that the perk empathy pretty much already does that

kindred basekit (but without the ability to see the killer)
the ability to see each others perks
MAYBE a whisper text chat but that might be too far.
Being conservative on the solo buffs won't help anyone. The game won't get more balanced. The only way to balance the game is to give everything- everything- that SWF can get for free just by talking and give it basekit to survivors at all times. Adjust survivor perks around that. Adjust everything possible around that, from gen speeds to totem spawns to killer powers and perks and add-ons to secondary objectives

I know most people dislike a rebalance since theres really no way to balance top level swf. If we say did buff solos a good bit and rebalanced the killers to a same general power level swf would still just be as strong and beat out now every killer. Swf despite my hate to say it majorly breaks a game based around solo play.
Which is why the game needs to be rebalanced around not solo play. Everything needs to be adjusted. You cannot nerf SWF in any way, shape, or form, nor can you remove it outright.

Onto a serious on topic note. This is a 4v1 game so obviously the 4 will always have the advantage in most situations if they are of equal skill unless the 1 is very strong. This is why theres a threshold at high ranks where all killers but nurse and spirit will drop off they are the only 2 with huge map pressure AND anti loop. Normally other killers have checks and balances. Billy for instance huge map pressure but his anti loop is none. Pyramid head the opposite. So a very good team will yeah eventually if mmr comes out like scott,tru3 and dowsey said "will beat out every killer but nurse and spirit at the highest level of play" is that a bad thing? Kinda because it shows the lack of diversity at the highest level that you should try to avoid. People don't want to see the same old thing at the highest level its what killed owl goats was played match after match. Also streamers bring in a lot of people and we saw what happened to dowsey when mmr was implemented. If there was a major rebalance which buffed solos and buffed a few killers and rebalanced all the killers into a same general power level then maybe this game would finally be interesting. A tournament level swf may be a rare occurrence but it should still be acknowledged.
"If there was a major rebalance which buffed solos and buffed a few killers and rebalanced all the killers into a same general power level then maybe this game would finally be interesting"
We've been begging for years but the ######### small game change and the community's allergic reaction the reading the words "Survivor" and "buff" near each other despite the word "solo" before it means this will probably never happen

Spirit was already nerfed, yes. But the new nerf requests fittingly appar after another nerf was confirmed.
Once Spirit gets nerfed, survivors will move one to the next killer.
Noticed how Billy, the most balanced killer we had before they made some "minor adjustments", isn't listed as viable killer on red ranks anymore?
I mean, I've literally been complaining about her since her 2nd set of buffs. As have many others. People were asking for Spirit nerfs for ages but somehow we've gotten the Billy nerf, Freddy rework, and then his nerf again before she's been nerfed to not be bullshit op.

I love the people here like "Just cleanse all the dulls on sight" not realising that it means the other survivors who don't know when, where, or if the other totems were cleansed would then go around the map, as would you, to look for the remaining totems that no longer exist and this wasted time will kill your team.
Totem counter, basekit, solo buffs, please.

But its also boring to just run in circles to catch up to someone. There should be different strategies for different players, and even for facing different killers.
I find it a lot more rewarding to outplay someone at looping than have them stealth and then hold w. If you're good at the killer you're playing they won't be able to hold circles around you, no matter how small it is every single killer can counter looping in a way
-
@miketheratguy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2124178#Comment_2124178
See I love the stealth, the cat and mouse game is what I like the most (that plus working together, altruism, etc). When I first heard of this game years ago I envisioned the concept of sneaking through the grass, trying to evade the killer and find your way to the escape, etc. It was honestly significantly disappointing when I was told "oh no man, no, you have to learn looping. The game's all about getting the killer to run in circles with you" (in so many words). I was looking for a horror simulator, not a game of tag.
Just my opinion, anyway. I'm legitimately glad that you like it, I feel for the killers who hate looping because I know how tiresome it is too. I don't even know if the survivors straight-up enjoy it or if they just do it as a means to an end because they know that it's a good way to tie up the killer. I also wonder if looping has always been a thing or if it became more prevalent at a certain point after the game's release. I don't know, I just know that I find it incredibly tedious. It's like wanting to play a fighting game and finding out that the dominant strategy is jumping over each other.
See, that's the thing when you're new, is that stealth seems like fun. It seems like the most enjoyable part of DBD, the hiding and the finding, but after like 1k hours it's pretty boring. 2k hours it's just frustrating when you can't find someone, and so even if it is fun to do still, it's awful and frustrating to face imho.
-
@miketheratguy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2124106#Comment_2124106
I see. That would be frustrating, yes. Actually now that you mention it I do remember a pallet almost always spawning next to a car near one of the sidewalks. And one or two of the houses do have some second-floor windows that are really great for survivors observing their surroundings.
It's a bummer that some of these maps are crappy for killer mains, I actually really enjoy Haddonfield and all of the indoor maps but I sometimes suspect that they get the short end of the stick (and the low end of the randomization) because it seems that most killer players dislike them. I think I'm in the minority here but again, I honestly wish that the loop game wasn't even a part of DBD. The killers hate it, I hate it. So many other survivors love it though. I don't know, I just don't see the joy of running back and forth in a stalemate. I get how it can affect the outcome, I just don't find it fun.
Honestly I'm part of the killer mains that enjoy looping for the most part, because I'm well aware of the alternate way survivors would, well, survive. Stealth and holding w. The two most boring to face forms of gameplay combined into one

I would before all that claim its hte players that are the problem who have so little self respect, but thats just me I guess....
what happened to gamers man...seriously, we used to love challenges, we used to have runs of RE with just the knive etc and look up to players doing that, we used to spend weeks on solving a puzzle in some adventure game.....
and now players ask and google "what is the best X" so they know what to use.....and in this game run the meta and all the add ons etc to help them along as much as possible....saddens me greatly.
heck personally I would LOVE a perkless mode for this game, no nonsense to save you, just you and your wits, strategy and skill
I mean, some people still enjoy that, I know I'm still trying to work up the balls to do a RE2make knife only run lmao. But in a game vs other people where you don't even have to pretend to be a good person you can just go ham on ruining their experience. Which is why I don't think a perkless mode would work- they're the bandaid fixes for all the problems in the game. Without DS people would get tunneled out of the game hardcore and camped as there's no BT, and Spirit would reign supreme as there's no Iron Will nor Spine Chill. On the flip side gens would fly by so quick as there'd be nothing to snowball from without Infectious, nor slowdown perks available to stay in the game longer.

I dont agree, the meta perks and cheap strats skew perception, just because bubba's can basement camp like no other and can get 4k's that way does not mean the killer is OP.
Its just players with no backbone using everything they can to give themselves an edge, which is frankly pathetic but should not reflect on the killer really, more on all that nonsense they use (and alos the "strats" I mentioned work well for most killers, just a bit better for thsoe who are also highly mobile)
Then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. If a killer can use something in the game to become genuinely uncounterable which, when used by other killers, still provides solid ample counterplay, then it's the killer that's the problem, not what they're using.

There isn't a single killer that truly meats the definition of overpowered. Obnoxious? Maybe. In need of a rework? Maybe.
Actually, there is. The Nurse is by dictionary definition completely, utterly op to the point where she doesn't play DBD, she plays The Nurse: The Game. However a lot of people (not all, a lot) are more okay with Nurse than other killers due to the rarity of actually good Nurse players and the skill it takes to get there. Comparatively more skill than Spirit will ever take in her life.

Stop camping and tunneling and returning to the hook and don't run strider and Pop, if you drop all that cheap nonsense and you still 4k all the time you need to set up a streaming channel and link it here, I will be watching and judging if your claim about her being op is justified then
If a killer can be that cracked strong using ######### in the game available to them in comparison to other killers using the same ######### available maybe they're the problem not what they're using.

Ah, okay. I wasn't aware of that. Again, I'm new so I'm still learning these things. I thought that loop points / pallets were a matter of random chance.
On a lot of maps they are, however Haddonfield has a couple of incredibly safe windows practically guaranteed to spawn (same with Badham Preschool though that one is a lot more RNG based). The Game is similar- there's lots of pallets that spawn in practically guaranteed places

I completely entirely agree. Pyramid Head main, curbstomps average survivors who path very predictably, struggles slightly vs good survivors who path weirdly but still 4ks, if they hold w you're done for if they're also good on gens but almost nobody plays like that so it's okay. I unironically play Speed Limiter Bubba and no shock doc at rank 1 and 4k a lot of the time too lol.
I think I've faced one tournament squad ever, as Wraith, and 2ked.

even tho favorable still beatable. where as if someone is lets say demogorgon and they are trying out a build on hawkins and a swf wit 2 objects and keys throws up farm its NOT winnable in any sense
Which is unlucky but not proof survivor offerings have priority.

Wow this is quite possibly in my top 10 worst ideas I've ever heard. And I've heard people tell me solo survivors shouldn't be able to see each other's health states.
