The biggest problem with this crap, and I have already seen it now a few times.

People are spamming trying to get their adepts now, where I would recognize a p0 in a lobby and gtfo now Im held hostage by them.

Davids loading in with GOOD OL' NO MITHER, and guess how long they last in chase?

The obvious Alucards crouch hiding around the map, waiting for everyone to die….

    This was a mistake BHVR

It sounds like you are probably the exact kind of person this change was trying to address then.

Lobby dodging because of prestige, either side, was trashy and ruined MMR. You are not entitled to easier games by dodging. You are also not entitled to decide who the MMR pairs you with based on a little number that shows how many BP have been invested in that character. You are not entitled to dodge someone who simply wants to do their goals and happens to be SoloQ, if you want a more tailored experience there is SWF for that. These players deserve a game, too. If they are in your lobby, they are in your MMR bracket. Period.

  • I was going to comment but I am absolutely appalled that anyone else in this thread could say something as heartless as "Side I don't play needs to get punished more because I am not winning as often as I would like". Killers don't "need to be kicked in the nuts more". They get nerfs at the same rate as Survivors. Both sides equally get kicked in the nuts every patch.

I still don’t understand why we can’t see MMR brackets, like we can in just about every other PvP game I’ve ever played.

Why is it completely fine for other games to have MMR brackets like Silver 2 and Gold 1, and show them to other players, but it would be considered super extra wrong if this game did this?

If the MMR matchmaking worked properly, it would show everyone is reasonably near the same MMR bracket, which would give people confidence they are being matched fairly.

Because the Devs do not want to further encourage sweat or a competitive mindset in this game, because it seems like they define the game as more casual than the playerbase defines it.

That alone tells us we probably all need to chill, right?

  • I think the gens themselves are not the issue, nor even the perks. What are an issue are the toolboxes. They're easily the single most powerful thing a Survivor can bring between the sabo buff and the repair speeds, and if you put the right items on them they get even stronger. It's imperative now that Devs look at toolbox speed and ask, "when perks do only up to a 10% increase of repairs, is it fair that the right toolbox can do 50% or more in one go? Do we really need that much?"

I guarantee slower toolbox speeds would reduce the need for Killers to feel as if they have to run gen hold.

i have explained this multiple times…. the other side not considered winning means your side winning. what survivor really want is their side to have 3-4 escapes 60% of the time, 12% 2 kills and killer winning less then 30% of the time. For many years, this used to work like this especially at high MMR.

This is exactly it and I think now that it's less the case, a lot of people who only play Survivor or majority Survivor do not like it. This is because they are used to winning more against weaker Killers who just now are getting a lot of much needed help to fix broken, clunky, or outdated kits.

Basically? To paraphrase a certain phrase often said about oppression, "To the side accustomed to easier games, needed buffs look like Dev favoritism."

  • That's so awful. :( I think this must be a bug.

There are three areas where prestige could be seen. The first area is the invite lobby. You could also call it the pre-lobby lobby. It's where SWF hang out and wait to get into the second area where prestige was shown, a pre-match lobby. The pre-match lobby is public, it's where you'll be grouped with other unknown players and the killer. Finally, prestige is/was shown on the end game screen.

The original poster wants people's prestiges shown in that first area. The area where only friends can see it. They have clearly stated they do not want it shown in the general public lobby where solo players and killers could see it.

Oh I misunderstood then. I don't see why that's an issue. But maybe BHVR could not remove it from lobbies without removing it from everything. It could all be the same code.

Glad scrachmarks got brightened but what about the red stain? Scratchmarks are opaque but red stain is transparent.

Killers dont need filters anymore but survivor still has the same red stain from 7 years ago?

    Niiiiice

But Survivors also have many more options basekit to track the Killer than Killers have for Survivors.

I have never had any issue finding the Red Stain nor have I even had issues finding Stealth Killers who have none. The Red Stain is also much bigger and gives more information around tiles than Scratch Marks which are more scattered and spread out, the Red Stain shows you directly where the Killer is looking and approaching from while scratch marks just show what direction the Survivor maybe went.

Survivors genuinely do not need a brighter Red Stain and aside from stealth there is nothing that makes the Killer able to do anything about the Red Stain period. Killers however do need brighter Scratch Marks when Survivors have multiple perks that hide scratch marks for them, make them more scattered, hide their pain noises, etc.

There'd be no real reason to brighten the Red Stain, it already is pretty obvious.

I don't know if you're joking but if we put this into 3 parts, reverse order you've got Endgame (prestige shows up here as usual), Lobby (survivors lobby up with a killer, can't see prestige anymore which is good), Invite Lobby, the bit before that where you can Invite your friends in (that's the part I want to still be able to see the prestige in, it's harmless & still allows friends to see each other prestige). The pre-lobby lobby as it were makes no sense to have removed it, removing prestige from the Lobby before loading into a game was completely fine as it does do as intended.

But your friends can see it in the endscreen anyway, why do SoloQers need to see my prestige? Why does the Killer?

Yes. It does. And since it is already scheduled to be nerfed in November, clearly the game developers agree with me. At this point in time, arguing whether Weave Attunement needs nerfed or not is futile. What we should be discussing now is how it should be nerfed. I'm in favor of a simple time limit. Something reasonable like 90 seconds from when it dropped. That is enough to give value without being oppressive for the entire match. With a time limit like that, it could arguably have an increase in range.

I would not get your hopes up and I am not going to argue with you on this, the change will probably just make it not work with Franklin's or moderately reduce its range and KEEP the Franklin's charge. Or, it could be buffed but have the Franklin's interaction removed. The perk is slated "for changes", not for "a nerf" even if it likely is a nerf.

The perk is mostly fine and doesn't need a time limit, why is it a problem the Killer is using two slots that could simply be filled by one with a much stronger aura perk? I really think the anger at this perk is not about Weave Attunement, but the fact that it works with Franklin's and people find Franklin's annoying.

Assuming it's a nerf, then the only changes that make any sense is either changing how far the aura reading is, breaking the synergy with Franklin's, or adding more notifications for Survivors. That's very likely all it's going to be. Personally I hope for a 5 second aura read every time someone drops, uses, upgrades, picks up, or recharges an item, but it no longer works with Franklin's - think a BBQ and Chili but for items. That would make it a very good aura read perk while also giving it enough counterplay, as well as making it a deterrent for just always bringing strong items, which seems to be what BHVR was trying to do with it.

  • I believe actual bully squadding, that is refusing to progress the game just to antagonize the Killer all round, is a form of griefing.

I believe griefing should be a bannable or at least "time-out" worthy offense that causes escalating locks from a day, to three days, to a week, to a month, then a ban. The more times you keep griefing, the longer the timer, until you finally just cannot play. It's no different than a Killer slugging everyone at 5 gens to bleed them for four minutes while shuffling on top of them all.

It's time that griefing was treated more seriously in this game. It's 2024. Grow the actual Fog up.

  • Only a few Killers could properly proxy camp but the ones that could do it were obnoxious and using it to get around the AFC. This fixes that.

Stop proxy camping with Huntress Hatchets.

  • Friend, most Killers are pubstompers and that's OK. Maybe most Killers are meant to be strong in normal pubs but not super aggressive top tier because there isn't supposed to be a high MMR top tier? Like, maybe most Killers are just supposed to be fun and get the job done? Did anyone ever think that maybe BHVR doesn't want to encourage the mindset of high comp, super competitive DBD the way the community defines it, so they don't want most Killers to be high MMR stompers because then they would be overpowered? Their removal of depipping and hiding grades seems to suggest this. They actively look to be trying to make the game more friendly to lower skill people.

  • I don't see it often enough to care and it doesn't do enough to matter, but when I do see it, it irritates me and makes me angry enough to start getting really mean. Like Blast Mine I see it as petty pettiness for no reason, salt in the wound for no reason. It's kind of like Knockout in that sense. Let me have my aura perks, stop being petty.

  • All it does is make the game harder for Stealth Killers, and look bad to boot. Bring the Fog back.

  • I do not care about a 4k, I just want the round to eventually end. I don't care if you get hatch. I am not gonna be mad if you guys win.

I just want the round to end. When you do this you are pettily extending a round because you're, quite frankly, salty you are losing and nobody will make a move. Just let someone be the one who dies, or do your gens around the map and go. One or the other, there is no reason for this.

An indication of where the item dropped is technically a nerf though.

But is it really though? I don't see how it's a nerf to notify the player "Hey this item's here" when picking the item up is a hazard and going near it is also a hazard. I guess if it's an issue only show the notification briefly?

  • I feel you are right. I loved Lights Out too but it definitely has issues.

I have a similar issue with some Killers having no info and others having all the info. Skull Merchant and Legion were easy mode in this mode but Wraith gets nothing and thus struggles.

Yes, but only as long as both sides had perks nobody would ever seriously consider.
It's much easier to pull off a wacky combo of perks, when the other side is also trying to get value from similar wackiness.

Sure it is, if you are trying to win. I am really glad BHVR is taking the time to look at older weaker perks and fix them a bit. Now perks like Furtive Chase, once a useless perk, can have some use.

  • The game certainly has competitive elements and is a versus game with MMR, but I don't think it's nearly as sweaty or meant to be as sweaty as other PVP games are. This game does not have a set wincon, all it tells you is "Survivors should do five gens and escape, ad Killers should kill Survivors". It does not say how many need to escape/die to be a "win". It does not emphasize a ranked ladder or MMR gain. You are free to define your own wincon. The Community says 3-4 outs is Surv win and 3-4k is Killer win but does anyone really care about that too hard? I don't think the majority of people really do.

That, and a reminder that due to unfortunate circumstances not fit to discuss here, comp DBD is effectively dead. Overnight. There isn't even a competitive DBD scene anymore…

It is not a competitive game and the fact some people treat it like it is when there's no incentive to gain MMR at all like a competitive game kinda confuses me.

Again, in ANONYMOYS MODE FASHION. Which means, the pestige icon would be HIDDEN.

Now you have hackers using it to hide that they P100ed themselves instantly at 5 hours.

  • The Devs have taken the stance that Camping and Tunnelling are viable strategies and allowed, but excessive camping and tunnelling are not.

That's it. That's their stance. These are part of the game and unfortunately, it's something we have to deal with just like genrushing is. They are not going to change this I'm afraid… They don't want to and are not willing to. It's intended gameplay. It's part of the game.

  • @Oxah said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787753#Comment_3787753

So then if you had the option to hide your prestige it would work out for everyone.

No because then I look P0, and they dodge me anyway.

  • Why not just punish people who linger in the exit gate to do this? Healing, waiting crouched, and being downed would not be touched, only if you teabag or wait there when the Killer's TR is clearly not anywhere nearby for long enough. This would also happen on hatch. Do this for long enough and a penalty would kick in and make you unable to leave or something IDK.

  • This is kinda the thing though right? I think the only reasonable fix is to balance toolboxes. You can't really have a gen regression nerf without also doing something to generator repair, and in fact some of that could be coming in the Big Perk Update in the Fall that was teased.

  • @Oxah said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787744#Comment_3787744

Again, giving the CHOICE to you to show your prestige or not. If you think poeple dodge a p3 haddie, you are wrong. and IF THEY DO, there's such a high demand for survivors that it doesn't even take more than 10 seconds for them to be replaced.

I have literally had people dodge my p3 Haddie. Multiple times.

Different people have different experiences. I do not want people dodging me based on low prestige and it has happened enough times. Just because it doesn't happen to you does not mean it doesn't happen and isn't an issue.

  • Pentimento only really works in full hex builds and even then really only with Plaything though.

  • No OP, it does not need a nerf. All it needs is an indication of where an item got dropped. Why aren't Killers allowed to have aura read to help track and therefore chase, but Survivors are allowed it? I don't understand. Either we all should have good aura read or nobody should have it, and I feel like the game will become very stale hide and seek if nobody has it.

  • Survivors have gotten a lot in their favor in the past year, mostly in the form of things like anti-grief features, buffed Sabotage, etc. Just because it's not a massive nerf doesn't mean Survivors didn't get anything, and remember Killers had many things nerfed too including all the biggest gen control perks. I don't think the game is too "Killer-sided" now at all in light of this, I just think it's balanced the way a survival horror experience is meant to be? What kind of survival horror do you always survive, anyway?

  • No.

I do not need p100s seeing me play my p3 Haddie for a Daily and lobby dodging because they think I'm bad. Either we all should see Prestiges on everyone, or nobody should see Prestiges on anyone.

If you wanna show off that bad you can do it in the endgame screen.

  • You don't need to be rude about it. Didn't Chaos Shuffle prove you could do some crazy things with perks nobody ever would seriously consider?

  • It is toxic when you slug at 5 gens super hard and refuse to let people play then bleed them out for four minutes.

It's not toxic to do it to gain some pressure.

  • Could this be related to the "unable to pick up Survivors" on some maps glitch? I have seen people abuse it already.

  • Well I want finisher Moris. :(

  • Because 2v8 isn't ready yet, it needs some work done yet. We didn't even have all the Killers or maps in it, why do you only wanna verse five Killers on four maps? Don't you want to have more variety and a more interesting 2v8? It takes time to get that.

  • No because I do not want to have the p300 squad see I am playing my p1 Feng-Min and dodge me. That isn't fair. :(

  • Because they never grew up and matured I guess.

  • No, 90% of the game's perks aren't autowins that fit your style. That's all.

  • I only used nVDIA filters for seeing scratch marks better and to make the game look crisper. Now that we have brighter reds I don't see a need for the filters anymore and won't use them.

  • It could be in the big perk update they mentioned…

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

as the years have gone people still use stuff that basically plays the game on autopilot for them so when that stuff gets removed they don’t know what to do

Yeah that's what happens when Killers rely on gen control too long, and Survivors rely on exhaustion and chase perks too long. They get carried.

Then when the nerfs come they don't know what to do…

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

It isnt. But there is a condition which increases or decreases your MMR (which is Kills and Escapes). Therefore, this is a win condition. MMR is obviously not the prize, because you dont really gain anything from increasing your MMR.

But doesn't that mean MMR isn't a wincon in itself because all it does is make the game easier or harder based on how hard you choose to win or lose?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

When it comes to the games win condition (MMR), yes, you lost. So you should lose MMR. But this does not really matter, since MMR is just a number to determine Matchmaking and I dont really understand the Obsession of players that they want to keep their MMR high. They dont even see it.

When it comes to your own rules… I mean, you can think if you lost or not, this is up to you. It would be silly to think you did not lose tho. Where should it stop?

"I did not lose because I had bad RNG."

"I did not lose because that one Survivor/that Killer was probably smurfing."

"I did not lose because I dont wear my gamer pants."

But a Dev just came in and said that MMR is not a win condition nor a prize????

  • Oh that explains the sound I heard when I was going for it! I got lucky and for some reason it completed, though the game said it didn't. I thought the sound meant I was Oblivious on Gens because I kept hearing it, then it went away, then I heard it on gens again, is it supposed to work that way?

  • Hey this could be related, but it looks like charms are clipping into some cosmetics too. I see it mainly on Sable and sometimes Nea.

As a Ghosty main (and a Myers aficionado), he doesn't need it. He needs players willing to learn and 'git gud'. Ghosty's biggest weakness is playing as an M1 Killer, rather than a macro M2 Killer. The strength of Ghosty is having an on-demand 1-hit, be it Exposed, or Undetectable against injured. Playing him like an M1 Killer is the biggest noob trap because it seems like how you are supposed to play him, which results in people crouch+M2+17m camping hooks, which does get results (like old Bubba facecamping when people refuse to pump gens).

Ghosty spends time getting multiple people stalked, so that he can instadown a would-be rescuer and force another person off a gen or risk a 2nd stage for free (getting that natural slowdown or accelerating the game to a close on both ends). If they greed and gen b4 fren (either by hooks or heals), then he still has instadowns ready. Also with stealth Killer noises being the only tell, you can get the 1-hit before they reach a window/pallet (barring Sprint Burst) if you know how to approach (and aren't playing garbage anti-stealth maps like Autohaven/Macmillan's which don't have enough LOS blockers in good spots).

Heck, Ghosty's crouch is even good enough anti-loop as long as you are playing on a real map (not Autohaven), since you can crouch to hide behind the tall walls, and M2 to remove red stain. Basically sweatlords love Autohaven, and they think Ghosty sucks since Autohaven is Ghosty's worst realm (even worse than Badham). To be clear, I don't think that map variety is a problem, I think that it is actually good for the game. I just find it silly when people complain about RPD so they can't use Huntress or Billy as well, while Ghosty and Myers find Autohaven/Macmillan equally (or even more) unplayable.

Also the main thing that makes most Killers unable to compete is raw map mobility. If there was a 5-8s PacMan styled edgemap teleport to the other side of the map as a basekit feature, I think that would help most M1 Killers far more. I personally would give it a sound effect, but also allow the Killer to fake it and make the sound without TPing, that way stealth approaches against the closest people can still work post visible hook/genkick/down.

I am also a Ghostface Main and I agree with basically all of this. He's fine and not in need of any real big buffs right now.

However I think he really should have some more value on Marking, and maybe some work needs to be done on the Reveal mechanic, it can be slightly janky.

  • I do not think 2v8 is solid enough to be a full game mode in this state but should be a re-occuring mode.

Lights Out, if the new reworked version of it is any good in September, may be a good reoccuring mode but IDK if it belongs permanent either. Ditto joke modes like My Little Oni.

Chaos Shuffle should be the permanent modifier mode, it felt way less sweaty to me.

  • You have a lot of tools, such as toolboxes and perks, and teamwork, to do gens faster.

    Gen times are fine IMHO.

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

Your stats show my main problem with solo queue perfectly. Balance wise, aside from some QoL changes, it’s fine for the most part but most games just aren’t fun.

Give some base kit form of anti-tunnel, deal with slugging for the 4K, and please do something to stop everyone giving up over nothing.

I feel like these are really the only issues with the SoloQ games at the moment, yes.

Remove self-unhooking attempts without a perk. Remove suiciding on hook entirely. Give us something to deal with full slug bleedouts, and give us something to stop tunnelling out from the word go.
