He’s a lot of fun and I’ve been maining him since he was released but takes a bit of getting used to, particularly his Flight of the Damned ranged attack, Dispelling Sphere is a useful scouting tool (And can prevent healing with an iridescent add-on that also makes the next add-on worse), Mage Hand gives you a decent anti-loop advantage (For a short window of time) and Fly gives you map mobility, helps you catch up to survivors you’ve just hit and also works really well if you use it with Friends 'til the End.
-
Deathbound may have the unintentional consequence of never deactivating if the killer intends to slug everyone instead of hooking?
-
I think upper-mid killer, he’s good, a bit clunky but is very good at finding survivors, okay-ish at map traversal, VERY good if the survivor has to go in a straight line but if you get him to waste hellfire and pounce he just becomes an m1 killer.

It's not just you. The lower levels got darker in this last update. Much darker. Way too dark. I can hardly see a damn thing down there. Sucks, because I really liked the dungeon area, but it might as all well be untextured random polygons for as much as I'm able to enjoy it now. Plus, it's super hard to navigate. God forbid you need to think quickly or anything while moving about.
I'm on Switch and PlayStation 4. The problem exists on both platforms.
Thanks for the reply, thought it was just me!

just throwing out an idea and not sure how balanced it’d be but maybe if there’s two survivors left, one is in the dying state and a certain distance from killer and the killer is in a chase with the other it triggers the end game collapse?
-
On one hand I agree since I'm similar with Plague since the vomiting noises make me feel nauseous but on the other hand it'd quickly be exploited and you'd have survivors adding killers they just don't like playing against or they find too strong.
-
I dunno but post tail attack nerf he's very frustrating to use.

What is this crying about "Free 4 survivors from a cage" on forum? I did this challenge in first game simply by doing gens and free survivors who spawned in cage near me. If someone do nothing but run across whole map to save someone to get challenge, it's not "BHVR incentives players to play in a counterproductive way", it's player clearly to chose throw the game. At worst case scenario you will do this challenge in two matches simply by playing a usual way. There are a lot of counterproductive challenges in tomes and this one definately is not one of them.
Not crying about it, just an observation about how survivors seem to be playing in the matches I was in.

10k bloodpoint bonus for each full generator equivalent done.

Maps are kind of useless in this game mode, maybe give Scouts a firecracker/flashbang instead?
And I really don’t know about item recharge if only due to the potential of toolbox gen rushing. -

This mode only favors the killers,
I’m starting to think a big issue is the tome is convincing many survivors to focus on rescues or heals instead of gens.
Either that or all survivor classes need some kind of generator aura detection as basekit.
-
I like this idea, survivor bots might actually do gens too!
-
The scariest thing is Dead by Daylight is temporarily going free to play this weekend we'll likely see an uptick of hackers.

There was an error displaying this embed.
I’ve found Knight so far to be of similar power to before although not as fun to play as.Like instead of dropping a guard at loops Carnifex can just quickly break pallets and Assassin seems better at actually getting hits while if you want to stall progress use Jailer.
(I like using the perks Franklin’s Demise, Weave Attunement (Not a very original combo choice but it works great, you can see where to send your Guard), Oppression and Unforeseen with the Map of the Realm and Call to Arms add-ons)
-
The Knight Helmet charm was a For Honor cross promotion item I believe (Before Knight was in the game).
Edit:
Yeah, here it is, from 2022:It sucks but promo items sometimes return, For Honor got an entire new game mode event!:

Singularity still feels really good and I believe you just need to push a button to auto track but more people hated it.
Knight is still one of the worst killers in the game. Having several at one time was the only thing making him playable with his brain dead AI knights. Waste of dev time.I wouldn’t mind a menu option to change what you push a button for, auto track being the default might be more useful for console players for example.
-
I agree! Also for whatever reason there’s an unused charm called Pro-No-One-Escapes-Death that was added to the game files during the release of the first tome which looks like:
-
IMO survivors should get a hard counter perk akin to Lightborn but instead it prevents items from being dropped by killer powers or add-ons.
Like Lightborn potentially useless (Even more so really since at least killers can see Flashlights pre-trial) but good to use if you just hate that aspect of the game.

Honestly, I want to see a perk version of it with some slight restrictions to not negate saves.
Or as part of a killer's kit.
I wouldn’t mind it being added to Freddy’s base kit, maybe he could only use it if the survivor was in the dreamworld and got 1 token (use) of it per completed generator?
-
Change scratch marks/killer’s red stain any colour you wanted.
-
From the patch notes the only useful skill seems like the Carnifex breaking pallets, maybe scouting out gens for the Assassin or Jailer to kick?
@jesterkind said:
The guards have pretty consistently been intended to flush survivors out and force them into you, as far as I can tell. If you look at Knight's dedicated "use your power as it's intended" achievement, it involves YOU hitting a survivor while a guard is chasing them, which I take to mean that they're meant to be a source of threat that pushes survivors out of position.
This isn't that unusual for DBD, there are a few things that are meant to threaten something which shouldn't ever happen- think of Pig's RBTs, which COULD kill survivors, but are not supposed to do that unless they're ignored. If someone goes to search boxes immediately without doing anything else, they're supposed to guarantee that the RBT won't kill them, and that's what the killer gets out of it too.
Now, that being said, I think it'd be hasty to conclude you can't use the guards for anything else just based on a dev update. Best to actually experiment with the killer on the PTB once it launches, and then draw some conclusions.
True but the 3x less patrol time if the killer is within 8m sounds quite harsh.
-
As someone who is in no way a Singularity main but plays Huxley maybe once a week:
A lot of good changes although he’s sadly fundamentally quite map dependant and there’s no quick fix for that, I think the strength of this aim assist will play a big part in how buffed he is.
-
Well for one thing a shorter gen kick time on Jailer + Assassin is bad since kicking a generator blocks survivors from repairing it.
I’ll have to try it out but sounds like a huge nerf overall, pincer attacks and dropping guards on annoying loops was a large part of why he was my favourite killer and sounds he’s going from mid tier to low tier in strength. -
Vecna + Franklin and Weave is the most fun I’ve ever had in the game, absolutely obnoxious to play against as a solo survivor though to the point I’ve given up on playing that role until the meta changes.

And the difference is light or hook denial in general is more or less basekit feature many people uses, then what you are suggesting here is a perk that completely counters already extremely niche perk combo that isn't even strong
Do we need a perk that just disables flip flop/power struggle completely without any way to "counter" the counter? no definitely not, unneeded, excessive and honestly kinda ridiculous
Lightborn completely counters Flashbang as well more or less Residual Manifest, the fact the combo is niche I guess would mean it wouldn’t get used except for survivors who really don’t like dropping their item.

@RENEGADE_0078 said:
Best counter for this is to stop bringing items to bully with. Then its 2 wasted killer perks. Only get chest items when injured and drop them in a corner. Been running no items since the update and I move dropped items to corners. Problem solved.
I like bringing a med-kit to get at least one heal since I have no idea what my solo survivor team mates are going to do all game.
TBH though it’s super fun to play with this combo as Vecna but it’s miserable to play against so I guess the easiest solution is just play killer until the meta changes.

No it isn't as far as I know, they just talked about how they are looking into changes to FoTD.
The only change that is confirmed is the pick up time nerf to Mage Hand, and even that is maybe not even finalized, maybe they will nerf Mage Hand in a different way.
IIRC the Ring of Telekinesis add-on (Faster pallet pick up) is getting changed completely as well.

@Neaxolotl said:
If you gonna use a perk slot anyway, you have plenty of healing, reparing and even sabotaging perks, I don't think we need anything like that
It’s why I mentioned Lightborn, it’s not really necessary at at all but can be very convenient, plus I’m really not sure teammates would consider me bringing Self Care an improvement over that perk idea.
If there’s some perk or meta in the game that I find really annoying I’ll start bringing a perk to counter it even though it could just be considered a skill issue, like for example a while ago I was getting really annoyed with bully squad SWF teams bringing a map, Boil Over and whatever else so I started bringing Agitation, it wasn’t exactly meta but it made matches more fun for me, similarly before the Deja-Vu changes I’d bring Bond and Prove Thyself when I first started playing survivor so I could consistently find generators.
-
They should give Freddy the instahook power when a carried survivor is in the dream world (With say a 60 seconds cooldown).

It definitely depends on what killer you play, like any other mode. The hook thing feels more like a quality of life than a super OP thing.
But yeah sure. First cool unique mechanic we've seen in a while. Get rid of it. Why not.
Like I said maybe if it used two invites it wouldn’t seem as strong?
Although maybe it’s not as bad as first impressions?
-
@Ohyakno said:
"I don't like the instant hook power"
I mean as a killer main who plays killer 99% of the time it’s great, matches have been very one sided though.
-
I was thinking the same, removing the instant hook power seems unlikely since it’s part of a challenge but maybe up it to using 2 invites?

A good comment, thank you. Personally, I played a few with him yesterday and felt it was completely unbalanced, and majorly in my favour. Four perks and magic seems completely over the top. Just my opinion :)
With Vecna I think an issue is he’s easier to play as than against so it’ll take a while before survivor’s are used to his abilities.
-
Aura perks are generally just for convenience.
For killers it’s to find survivors to chase and for survivors the most used perk in the game by far is Windows of Opportunity (To help loop the killer/see what pallets have been used) followed by Deja-Vu (Prevent 3 gen situations as well as find gens and do them slightly quicker) and Bond for general use.If you nerf or limit them then you just make things harder for new or non lower MMR players and encourage people to play in a really sweaty way with four slowdown perks, etc.
-
It’s super fun as killer, probably not so much as survivor although that’s more down to Franklin’s, I imagine during the anniversary it’ll be extra obnoxious to play against with the limited time items.
But on a m1 killer those two perks pair great with Surge (And Knock Out if you don’t mind survivors really hating you), on Huxley those two, Surge and Rapid Brutality works well.
Hope it doesn’t get nerfed but I can see why anything that encourages the use of Franklin’s isn’t popular with survivors.
-
I think the problem with a shorter activation time might be survivors could use it with Open Handed and just sneak about the map avoiding the killer leading to some very boring matches.
-
Agree, although I just use the Lambert's Star Map + Emergency Helmet add-ons to counter the turrets which isn't ideal but it works I guess.
-
it might be better to pre drop versus Venca.
-
Windows is the strongest perk in the game by far and if it’s not going to be nerfed killer should get a perk that passively causes Blindness in chase.
-
Top 3 wishes:
- FNAF chapter.
- Skin for classic Freddy.
- Knight getting Map of the Realm and Call to Arms made basekit or at least partially.
-
Is Tombstone Myers even that strong? He’s still an M1 killer at the end of the day.
I do agree it’s annoying he can feed off of one survivor then suddenly mori another though, a rework where he has a built in mori would be nice, maybe the evil resource could regenerate but if Myers does manage to completely drain it he can mori that specific survivor. -
I’d love a killer perk that lets you keep add-ons, some killers like Trapper or Pig become tremendously more fun to play with iridescent add-ons.
-
IMO it’s the killer version of Adrenaline where most of the game it’s a dead perk and in many games it’s not used at all but is strong in the endgame, particularly if survivors are over altruistic.
-
I think meta-wise an issue is non generator slowdown/blocking killer perks need to be quite strong otherwise most killers will just run a full slowdown build.
-
Resilience - Remove vault speed bonus
I don’t think survivor vault speed bonuses should be a thing.
-
Discordance can be useful.
-
He’s good but Wesker is better.
-
Killer is okay, I think they’ll have a high skill cap, Unforeseen is a SUPER FUN perk, getting lots of grabs off gens.
Also new survivor is cute.
-
Killer - Starstruck
Makes Survivors think twice about save attempts and can be used tactically, particularly good with Wesker and his huge Terror Radius.
Survivor - Reactive Healing
You kind of need other healing items or perks if playing solo but you get a surprising amount of value out of this during a match.
