  • I'd rather have this outlier example than not have the penalties. if this happens more than one time maybe it is your connection? If you cry about 5 minutes of a time out that's undeserved you'll cry about it if it was deserved. it happens just accept it and move on.

People still playing for points and pips?? LOL-.

No BBQ stack if all survs are in the basement. And no, you cannot give them any sort of penalties for "trying" their 4%.

actually yes I do play for points.... it's how I get things advanced on all characters

  • This game has evolved into an animal that makes people salty for petty reasons. this thread is one proof of this, no one is telling others to play a certain way yet not many want to accept that their way of playing (the in the killer's face way) is not the only way to play. It sucks when you support the team by doing gens, even saves, healing and door opening that you get bubkis for the evader emblem (how you pip up in this game) because you didn't get into a chase.

When I described my experiences with a low evader emblem and never being found no one here even payed attention they were "you shouldn't play stealthy it kills people" oh hey guess what! in that match I described no one died and only a few got hooked. so I was stuck on gens because they were the other side of the map and I couldn't go get an unhook. so i also got low points for benevolent but that I can understand as I did not get a chance to do what the emblem says. Evader specifically says "Avoiding the killer"

  • I mean there is no reason to change your mind because you are CORRECT!

  • you asked... honestly I only missed laughing at your presumptions and misinformation. hope you have a better time this time.

  • because it is hard coded that when it is down to the last survivor then it will open. honestly i wish it'd give points for a second closure. This has always been the functionality of the hatch, even before because you open the hatch with the key it will close after period of time as well if there is not one survivor left.

  • @Chrisko said:

This new rift has a killer challenge (knockdown) in the way of completing the other survivor challenges. Killer wait times are not good at the moment and requiring players to do a killer challenge to then be able to do the remaining survivor challenges is frustrating.

Just make them separate lanes so we can decide which we want to do.

If you look at the tome you can see that the survivor path goes and conencts to a killer icon but if you follow the other path it goes to the 15 gold emblems and then continuing diagonally to the right is the next survivor challenge is there and has 2 more survivor challenges and then the epilogue. so in a way yes it is like this but there is a direct path for survivors, just not in a straight line.

Bodyblocking in the way described is a bannable offence. You may get a 5 minute ban for DCing but they will get far more if you report them.

It has been stated if you get body blocked into a corner for a short period of time that is not reportable/banable (ie: bubba/billy rev up chainsaw) but to body block in order to tier 3 myers that's an extended period of time generally and would be questionable. so it's the time frame for this issue. Also there is no in match functionality that allows anyone to just leave the match. how ever this idea the "killing one self on first hook is banable" is crap. why? because in match you can try to get free, OR decide not to. and in match during struggle you can decide to press the button or not. This is programmed in the game. the "leave match" button is OUT OF the match into a menu functionality thus why it was a "bannable" offense. this functionality was meant to be there for emergency purposes (can't move, can't get out of match etc) not to get out because you don't like it.

  • "This game is won and lost on how well survivors waste the killers time." Wow... so all 4 survivors go waste the killer's time and the gens magically get done! bravo! did we slip a 5th survivor to do the gens or is this the entity making it easier ???

You know what? my example which happened to me, circumstances kept me on gens each time there was an unhook, someone else was on it and closer. I litterally would have had to RUN and say hi to the killer while the other three are busy with the killer and the unhook. then when I tried to go there was no chance so it was advantageous for my TEAM for me to stay on gens. and my points sucked because of it. But sure I'll never do gens again because this thread has enlightened me that survivors don't have to touch the gens at all since we are all to waste the killer's time.

  • there is an emblem called EVADER and it specifically says "the ability to remain undetected by the killer" I've had matches where I was gen jockey, getting 3-4 gens done while not getting to the hooks because i'm already on a gen, I get nothing in the emblem EVADER yet the killer didn't see me, nor did I get hooked and I got out. it'd be nice to be able to be awareded for what the emblem describes though. Yes there is more than just not being seen as part of the emblem but there is very little given to someone who does the job described with the emblem.

so you respond with a huge, long rant bringing things up that I didnt even mention, then again, bring up the ToS and that we have to play the game the way the devs tell us and so on and so on.

I'm guessing you're still having most of your things bought by your parents. Tell ya what, lets finish this conversation when you start having to pay for things yourself.

Thank you for your scathing remarks, I feel quite rebuked... actually no I do not. first of all I brought out more information, if you are talking about a water shortage and you only talk about the stream that used to give you your water but it's shrunk and dried up but ignore the huge damn that was just erected diverting that water to another town/city you won't understand why it is happening. Terms of Service (ToS) is something that you agree to in order to do what you have decided to do. Everything on your computer has a ToS including your windows operating system. If you violate these Terms of Service the owners of the product have the right to terminate your usage of their product. Behavior has decided that they will allow people some leeway by using these penalties instead of telling people it is time to move on to a new game.

Now to answer your comments about my living conditions and everything else personal. first of all you are talking to a disabled veteran who was present during wartime actions on the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CVN-73. I have been in combat zones in 4 different areas. I have had a job since probably (I do not assume but I am guessing I am correct) before you were born. I pay my own way thank you very much. you are being disrespectful when I was not disrespectful what so ever. Next time do not be disparraging to someone because you do not like what they say, and perhaps if you read you will learn something.

  • just because i admitted I laughed at your comment? well 1) I'm playing on none of what you specified, 2) I have rarely had a crash that could not be explained and if I do I send a report in. I have not had a Disconnect penalty at any point, and your recomendations are absurd to the point of being funny. I know several people that have no major issues with the game in various places, just their network connection issues (explainable issues) I was not rude, I even sympathized with you on your issues but you didn't see that because you through I was being rude. read and understand and if you are not sure of something ask don't blame.

It’s utter bs, the in game allows you to legally quit. A ban lol! Come on, if someone is using speed hacks (which they do) or lags the game, or use exploits that is grounds for a ban. Someone doing hard DC that is a ban, but F U to the developer for banning people who legally need to leave the game through their system or gets dc for no fault of their own. These developers are bringing this game down to the shithole where no one will want to play. They were so intent on giving in to the temper tantrum entitled players that it’s cause this game to be an unbalanced ######### show. Congrats to the developers! You are not doing pretty good job at all anymore. Fix your fkong game or fire the morons who are hired to balance this Game. They are dragging it to the ground.

First of all the game does not "LEGALLY" let you do anything. the TOS says you do not quit the match without using in game functionality (killing one self on hook). to disconnect, or LEAVE MATCH, you MUST leave the game functionality and use menu functionality to leave the match. This is a last resort to if you get stuck where the game can not end (stuck in geometry etc). do not think it's legal anything, the LAW has nothing to do with it, but if you wish to use the term loosely the LAW of the game is the Terms of Service and Disconnecting (rage quitting) is against the game.

If you are stuck in the geometry or the game can't end, you have to dc but at that point you need to submit logs and a ticket for people to look into what happened.

At the very least, the people who DC on purpose will be forced to stop doing that. If they suicide on hook early then people will report them for too.

Back when I used to play DBD I didn't get any DC penalties. Is it that the game coding itself leads to dropped connections, it is this more a problem with some people's gear? Given the abundance of bugs in the game I wouldn't completely rule out the former.

fist of all "suiciding on hook early" is using in game functionality and that is not something that can be reported (or it will be ignored) just as camping and slugging are allowed.

It's human to think "our own experience" is the end all be all of everyone in the world. You don't have access to their support system. You don't have access to the game code, or likely have the experience to know what you'd be looking at if you did, and you certainly don't understand how you are playing right into the attitude the devs want their customers to have.

In the end, you are screwing over your own fellow gamers by disregarding experiences that "aren't your own". Congratulations for being one of the fortunate ones that doesnt have to suffer the ineptitude of the developers at a cost of being blocked from using a product they paid for.

I never disregarded anyone's experience. I even have said that there are people that get hit with this when they shouldn't. but you are the one that is playing into someone's hands... the hands of those that think THEY write the rules, the ones that say killers can'ti camp, can't tunnel and that it is bad bad bad and I'm disconnecting because i don't like it. this is a tantrum like a 5 year old throws when they DC, and this hurts the game it causes people to stop playing. The devs wrote the game, they wrote the guidelines/rules/ToS that you agreed to when you downloaded the game. I gave my experiences to show that not everyone is crashing, or having issues like this as the people that don't have issues end up not complaining on the board about not having issues. this game is played 100's of times an hour across the world. you don't see everyone here messaging. ALSO I never said I do and thus why I said when there is a crash like that we should submit logs so that the DEVS can look into it and then perhaps find the part of the program causing this. I am not the problem, you are because you don't want to help improve the game, you only want the game your way and your way alone. If that is what you want go to play a single player game and forget this one. even in a single player game you can't get around their in game rules hahah!

I play on ps4 so I can't report him outside of game I think (unless there's some page where I can go that I don't know about, but doubt it) but thanks anyway. And I figured that it wasn't really reportable, but at the very least they would've been able to see just how dumb it is for that to happen

you can get to the customer support on their website as well and there is an option to select your platform as well.

Also though it is a strategy that has been said by the devs to be not reportable, it is a weak strat by the killer, 3 players can get 2-3 gens done in the time it takes for someone to be camped to death and by then they are opening the doors generally unless you are unlucky. insidious was designed for camping aspects but honestly it doesn't get usually more than 1 or 2 kills. so in that way it is a legit strat, look at body blocking: if the killer blocks someone in to rev up a chain saw the devs have said this is acceptible but if you were to stand there blocking them in to mikie stalk them to tier 3, then you are going into unsportsmanlike play which is against the ToS. also flip it and if the killer can't take a short block of a survivor then survivors can't run in front of the killer or block the hook.

Many games that you have to pay for have bans/penalties from playing ranked games if you DC. Since DBD is a ranked game then it makes sense. I think that there should be 2 separate modes, ranked and casual. I also don't think that DC penalty should keep adding up. But there definitely needs to be something in place to discourage dcing. Also I think they need to stop people from being able to kill themselves on the hook as well.

    I have 2 questions here:

    1) how can they MAKE someone press a button/key? the answer is, they can't. All they can do is remove the chance to escape the hook, which would be a very nice option if some how everyone ends up on the hook or not coming to you at all for you to continue playing.

    2) so it wouldn't matter to you if people just DC and get a 5 minute penalty each time with out it escalating, this would not make it a penalty at all. This is why it increases if you do it often and over a short period of time. How ever it also has instances decay away (drop off) after a period of time.

The difference between "killing yourself on the hook" and disconnecting is you are using in game functionality to do things and the final action is to do nothing. so since you want to make everyone struggle here is the solution to your thought: it automatically tries to get off the hook and then automatically struggles. so you can't just not do anything at all. If you want the choice to NOT try to get off the hook you must allow the choice to struggle or not. If you use in game functionality this is not something to punish as it gives survivors a chance to save, and gives killers the points they deserve. If you exit the came to the game's menu, you are no longer using game functionality but program menu functionality. This is why there is an issue with this. is there a compromise? maybe... just don't know. maybe if all survivors are down you can get an option to surrender (IE GIVE UP) and this would be an in game option that happens only because it is part of the game functionality. so something can be done yes, but the dc penalties need to be done.

my little idea here is something to think about it only will happen if it gets to what everyone killers and survivors alike say is not a fun game (a slug match) but if you're the first down, you can't just dc, you can't just dc if you're the last and you want to rob the killer of a sac or kill. I just thought of one problem: last survivor is downed, this option would possibly be there and still pull the last sac from the killer so there is more to work on it but still it's a start.

Where do I go to report? I kinda forgot to do it after the match so I want to do it now since I still have the video

first of all you use the report feature at the scoreboard page at the end of the match, then you get information from their steam account go into settings - customer support - create a ticket - fill out that form. you may want to add a video of the actions you are reporting but be aware "camping" is NOT reportable as it does not violate the ToS.

  • well a killer that does not do anything but camp like this lets the other survivors do everything else. I'm sorry you were on the receiving end of this but why be salty about it, not every match is a camping bubba.... not every match is toxic, if you are finding it so and they break the ToS report them via the ticket system and have video to back you up.

Ive made it a point that the MTBF factor on this software is something to be discussed. I got tons of flak for it. I sill can attest to the fact that we are playing these games on LEAD-FREE soldered motherboards and with RAM sticks that are still from the TERRIBLE batches of chips that FOXXCONN received. So unless your computer is clustered on High Availability and your network has near-ZERO packet loss and you are playing on BONDED NETWORKING. My suggestion is, Dont play the game.

I was really stoked about the new killer coming out and was going to buy him. I love playing hitscan and was onboard. But after this fiasco. IM going to save my pennies until they resolve the penalty system which fits the average consumer-level pc model of SOHO networks and systems. VS what a business can run. 😞

honestly this made me laugh my arse off. why? because I don't have this and i rarely have issues with my connection and software. I'm sorry you have issues but what I love is that people talk about ALL the innocent "BANS" out there. this is not something that is big if it happens a few times. if it starts happening more I'd look to more reasons why the software crashed and submitted to behavior to look at to see what they can see for those. the next thing you need to do is look to your network connections, because there are a great many things more than their software, your computer and the dedicated servers. If you submit those logs, perhaps they can see hey it is because of X and we can put this to rest finally. Mostly people whine here without submitting logs, not all but most. Lets stop the blame game and start helping each other and behavior out by doing what the END USER is supposed to do.

Ah yes, because the killer slugs me for 4 minutes straight every match, thats obviously the reason I have to disconnect.

The 24 hour ban I currently have was OBVIOUSLY caused because the killer slugged me every match.

a 24 hour ban on playing? because you didn't like how things went in your match? lol I'm sorry, I'm not even that good and I don't DC for slugging I laugh my arse off. ya know? but if you like waiting keep dc'ing. I tab out and work on things and talk to my friends in game while I get slugged.

World of Warcraft, Doom, Counter-strike. Mass Effect, Witcher series, PUBG, Path of Exile, GTA5, Overwatch, HOTS, Starcraft, League of Legends, Frostpunk, Control, Faster than Light, all Darksouls, Sekiro, Surviving Mars, Resident Evil 2, Diablo 3, No Man Sky, They are Billions, Sea of thieves, Left 4 Dead, Half-life... those are the games i played last year and keep playing this with exactly 0 crashes. NOT A SINGLE ON. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT, it is my system that is not working properly.

And yes, i always summit logs and click SEND. Disconnect penalty should not exist if CrashReportClient.exe call to execute is made from the game itself.

first of all some of those don't even use the same setup as dbd and those are single player. you can have 500 games installed on your computer, and only one of them could crash a good deal if the installation was done badly and that can happen. I've had WoW, Mass Effect, Witcher series, Starcraft crash on me and it wasn't because of their client but the installation as the logs on my computer showed what was going on. There is more than one reason a program can crash and most of those are not due to the program itself but some error introduced either by modding the game in some way, a bad update that came down, or a bad install and the right conditions just then started to manifest. lots of possibilities.

  • I don't know about you both but I rarely have client crashes. As a PC tech I'd say there may be something going on in your system causing it even a possibly bad download or install. I'm not saying you don't have a legitimate concern, but when others rarely have crashes I think the issue may be more on the client computer. suggestion: have you submitted your logs so that the devs can look at what happened and possibly help you? if not then you have no room to talk because you have not even tried to fix your end.

you can watch angrypug's clip. his internet was stable, but the killer dc'ed and and suddenly pug also dc'ed. but it was clearly the dbd servers fault.

so you 100% know that it was the servers fault and no router in between the killer and the dbd server could have had issues? do you have the packets that prove this? do you even know how to get and understand the network packets? again, I agree pug is innocent (without even watching because I can believe this happens occasionally) of the DC, and my understanding is that he doesn't do it normally (as I have seen others do). but do not blame the server for something you can not know was the server's fault. 1) the internet is not your destination connected in a direct line to you, 2) any one of these routers that connect you (general you) to the end location (dbd server). and a short instability in one of these connections can cause a disconnect.

  • instead of calling for dc penalties to be removed angrypug should have submitted his logs of that match and let the devs see what is going on. today I was playing trapper, got 3 sacs, found hatch heard the last survivor waiting for hatch. it opened and they tried to get in it but i closed it thus they ran and then DC'd to prevent me from getting a 4k. pretty petty right? well this is why they need to be left in. I'm sorry if there is someone that CLICKS the leave match game intentionally it needs to be punished more than it already is. if there was a game breaking bug it needs to be reported immediately (I don't care if you're a streamer or not).

Is there room for improvement? yes, but without people sending logs in properly they can't work to stop this. People need to know it's not acceptable to violate the TOS and see that there is punishments for it. Am I sad that pug got a dc penalty when he was not the one that did? YES, and hopefully it isn't something that hurts him too much generally 5 minutes won't be, but if someone continually disconnects intentionally and then suddenly are affected by a program dc I have no sympathy (PLEASE NOTE: I do not insinuate that Angrypug dc's intentionally as i know nothing of what he does beyond people talking about him).

  • @Angelicus23 I am now laughing, you didn't even read that I said 1) your reporting this anywhere would be ignored by the devs as they will not take third hand reporting. 2) anytime there is a report of an issue the devs will not always reply but they will start to look into it and will not always reply to a post on the forums but still work at the issue. I DID watch the video, and I made no comments about the charms because I had no point of reference for what you did, I also did not see a teleport while carrying, just the movement that seemed as fast as any killer can walk normally due to the add on. perhaps she should have been slightly slowed but i think the addon overrides that currently.

Now you have brought it here to the general forum to try and get the devs to see it yet they don't reply to bug reports sometimes if at all. hell I had an issue that I reported both on the forums and via ticket system, no dev replied on the forum and I got a message one month after it was reported. What was my issue? i was getting no perks even before level 50. took me 3 days to realize that the reason I was getting this issue is becuase i had no other killers above level 30 so i could only get the killer specific perks and the general perks. I even sent a message back to the devs that I solved the issue so they would know it was something that I was overlooking. at the end of janurary I got another message they are investigating. you are fighting here because you feel you are doing a service, but you are not since you are the third hand in this case.

My rules? "Purposefully losing the game" is listed as a reportable offense, so...

Also, you're describing things that don't make sense anymore.

I am describing things that don't make sense? sure because it makes no sense that someone would be in trouble for playing a game. People have phobias that send them into panic attacks just seeing a clown (proven true), people sympathetically vomit when they hear or see someone vomit (proven true, and I've seen this happen and it wasn't pretty in the operating station of the nuclear reactor I was standing watch at while the ship was underway, it wasn't pleasant). In this game we have a clown killer (triggers the first), and a killer that vomits on others causing the survivors to vomit as well (triggers the second). The latter case can cause the player to vomit on their keyboards, computers, laptops what ever they play on (furnature too) and then it has to be cleaned up. So what's the quick fix for these people? to extracate themselves from the situation, struggle and give up to GET the hell out of dodge! if it's extreme then they have to leave the pc or exit via DC and take the penalty.

Please tell me what win condition players are not meeting. The devs themselves have said there are multiple win conditions in this game. I got crazy at the end of the comments to show how when you start punishing people for using the game mechanics (once again the leave match button is NOT a game mechanic) then you will see people being punished for doing gens, hooking survivors, hitting survivors, vaulting too many windows or pallets. If the game has a mechanic in it then they can use that or not if they wish. How ever going out to a game menu to exit the game is not using a game mechanic.

Did you even read my comments?

Do you realise I said PS4, and then in another comment the thing happened to a friend?

I wish people would stop not reading and look cool in front of everyone in the generak forum

wow so you report issues like this in the general forum... I am pretty sure there is other ways. but i looked at the video the speed the nurse was moving seemed to be the 4.6 m/s when the nurse uses an addon that some people would call "battlenurse" or "walking nurse" the over all things here is you still are not reporting this properly. the person playing is the one supposed to report it, you are not the one that was affected. they have said they will not act on third party reports, even if you reported it they wouldn't act because you took a video from some unknown source and could have doctored it beyond that. I have seen PS-4 controllers on DBD PC as well, but you say it's your buddy playing on PS4 no way to determine that with out the proper logs and reports in the proper areas. and YES I know exactly what I said and YES I read your comments. my comments stand as well, your friend should have reported this at the time it happened not you bringing it to the general forum.

In that case sure if survivor can't die/escape by any means that's a fair reason as its literally impossible to end the match ever.

I'm referring to being mori spammed/unable to move as survivor or killer or body blocked the whole match.

As killer you can hit them and as survivor your team can do the gens and egc will kill you. Mori spam you still bleed out.

mori spamming is not in this thread asking if he was justified. Mori spamming is something reportable as harassment, they are stopping you from playing the game, but they themselves are stopping normal game play. once you're done hope you have media evidence so that you can report this via the ticket system. Once again this forum is not the place for asking if this was justified (that is for the devs to determine via ticket report) or if something was harassment as this also is something to report via the ticket system.

    @DwightOP said:

This is the known infinite bug. This bug will keep you in the match forever, unless you dc. Even EGC won't finish the match.

But hey, let's punish players who are forced to dc because the incompetence of the coders amaright?

still this should be reported, i have run across bugs like this about once every few months or so maybe even less frequently. the worst issue of the dc penalties is when the game crashes during load in. Still those can be reported and logs sent in to behavior to watch, but people don't think to do that! they just whine on the forums about it, especially in the general forum which is not the place to report bugs!

how do you know they didn't bring slippery meat and try to get out after waiting a short time to see if people are there

You...check post-game to see if they have Slippery Meat equipped?

As long as the stuff you're describing only happens once in a while, it wouldn't be too hard to implement a system that doesn't punish them for it. The only ones who really need to be punished are those who do it consistently and repeatedly early in the game.

so you are telling me that if I play the game and not follow your rules then i'm reported? for what? what did I do that caused you to report me? oh that's right the game told me that I could try to escape the hook, and then says i can struggle, but i got distracted because the cat came by. or i just didn't feel like struggling. sorry that is incorrect you are not going to get traction because if you get this as reportable then you are going to start being reported for doing generators! or the killer for hooking people they down!

Also what if I get sick when the plague pukes in game? or when survivors puke at max sickness. you are going to FORCE me to stay in a game that is making me sick? you're going to tell me that I have to risk my health, my computer and even my furniture because you don't like that you can't DC anymore? no. if I do that is allowed in game (no the leave match button is NOT IN GAME!) then you can't successfully report me. Also you do know there is a legitimate issue with the clown where people have panic attacks when they see a clown? sure they want to play but they have no idea who the killer is till they see the indicators and then if they use the in game features to leave the match to deal with those anxieties and issues is perfectly fine.

I mean...in every example given so far the match will still end...

The egc exists/when all survivors escape the match ends.

If you literally cannot move you still shouldn't dc because the match will still end you'll be killed or the survivors will escape

actually it's been verified and I have seen it, where the player was stuck in healing animation, could not move much but does not allow End Game Collapse to finish the game but the game continues AFTER EGC... Again issues like this need to be reported via the ticket system with logs or in the bug report forums here with logs.

  • did you submit a ticket when it happened? did you just run across a video online so you believe it's 100% true when you never saw it in person? did you report it in the bug issues forum here? did you submit your logs for the match?

you do realize that there is a cross play option for the microsoft store because they are allowing the game to be downloaded on pc when you have it on XBOX (but it isn't the xbox that is playing it but their pc) this allows them to appear as cross playing. yet they are still on pc to pc gaming.

I wish people would stop reporting bugs to the general forum and whining about things when they won't take the steps to report here. Why? because it clogs these boards and diverts them from their original intent.

  • first of all you can report anyone for anything at any time, but you know what that does? it wastes the dev's time. anything that is a GAME MECHANIC can not be reported but going out to a menu option and clicking a button is not a game mechanic what so ever! so tell me someone who tries to get out, how do you know they didn't bring slippery meat and try to get out after waiting a short time to see if people are there, or even then why is there a mechanic to get off the hook at the beginning at all? So again this comes down to rage quitting is NOT using game mechanics to get out of the game. now, also how do you know they didn't have a tremmor or a spasm in their hand and that caused them to give up? how do you know they don't struggle because their space bar is broken? or faulty? but Disconnecting is obvious, there is even different sounds when it's using the button in the menu or a network issue, so yea you are really blowing smoke and with what you are saying if that became the case you would end up being punished for doing generators.

  • The question now becomes did you report this bug or did you just DC and return to your game play? you may have been justified to DC but it is not something to not report as you may have found a bug. In this case you may have had no choice but to do this even if you just let them do gens. You would have had to suffer the DC penalties but in that time you should have submitted a report to Behavior, included your logs from the game so they can look at everything to possibly see what's going on. This may have been a reason to do so but coming here to ask if you were justified is not the way to do it, more it is trying to make your case to the people's court instead of to the real court of behavior which you get by using the ticket system and sending your logs.

Funny thing about dropping messages. Twice in the past I had people leave comments on my Steam profile accusing me of lagswitching (even though I didn't know how to lagswitch at the time). I told one of my friends about it and he decided to take matters into his own hands, leaving this on my profile:

"Imagine being so bad at a game that y'all decide to blame a person who doesn't know anything about lagswitching instead of taking responsibility for your own death.

    Sad."

I have yet to receive any more salty comments on my profile since then.

I put a message on mine that says something close to "I will delete salty messages on my profile and report the poster to steam because these do not belong on there and it is considered harasment" I get a couple messages every so often but you are right. though those messages are not reportable to behavior as they will not do anything as steam is a 3rd party site really which I understand but STEAM will act!

We only use DC rate against a Killer as one indicator. We have never changed a Killer just because the DC rate was high.

In Legion's case, the DC rate was in fact quite high. But when we looked at the reason people didn't seem to like playing against them, we agreed with that reasoning and made changes.

So if suddenly we had tons of DC against a Killer that's not in a bad spot, we'd let the DC penalty system take care of it.

Thanks for this @Almo but I would like to point out there are legitimate issues in the game that cause people to DC without them doing it intentionally. there are times that dbd will just crash when loading into a mach, the only way to fix this is to task manager it and restart, this causes a dc penalty. this has happened to me several times in a row and i had played for a few hours. after about 4 dc's into a match like this it ran fine till i was done 2 hours later (this shows it was something other than my pc causing this). Also I have seen it where dbd just dies while in a match, thus causing a DC. I've seen it where the survivor or killer are caught in the geometry and they have to DC to even quit the game or it's infinite. Please make a way to appeal these types of dc penalties so that there is atleast a way to clear the slate of legitimate reasons of Disconnecting. I agree we needed the DC penalties but pure draconian accounting is causing problems. I am glad they are in and staying, I am also glad you are not telling us how many dc ticks we have to get how many minutes out of game. Further I am glad you are not telling us when or the rate at which one tick is removed.

So I think you all for working on this, and I know you work on multiple things at any one time so I understand things aren't insta outs but please take the feedback and allow appeals in certain instances.

  • I am personally tired not of the camping remarks because i don't do it because normally it's not productive... i will do it if i need a kill like when i had one egc kill needed so i camped to get it and the other two left (one gave up earlier on hook). but the gripes about tunneling. I've had survivors cry "you tunneled me all match and never hooked me!!!!" I had to laugh because that match i kept running across the david and at that point i was just trying to have a bit of fun.... so I kept after him when I saw him. lol but that was the dreaded tunneling.... I've had survivors whine about tunneling when they get off the hook and i come from across the map to try and find the unhooker or see if anyone stuck around.. hey! there's the same one working on a totem... still injured... what am I to do???? let them go? lol still it is time that the harassment stops. sure it's not fun but stop calling people names, stop calling them derogatory terms! if you're pissed drop a message about it and leave it at that, stop wasting the dev's time for silly reports... oh yea stop thinking that reporting that to twitch will get a twitch streamer banned. lol

  • when i play for a daily or a challenge i'm usually letting the survivors go unless i have to kill one. or had rancor on. why? because i'm in the game to have a bit of fun!!!! now here is the thing. i'd love to get the extra 250 points for a hatch close, and if i don't get it or two wait at the line just for the lolz then i do make the snarky remark "you could have let me have hatch close!" not because I'm upset but because I was being snarky. I really could care less, hell i open the door in these cases more often than not.

  • WOW the misinformation in this thread is rampant. also there is GREAT information in this thread too but really the pig is not bad or good to go against. try a ghost face that reduced his exposure distance and extended his stalking distance. go against a tombstone/tuft of hair mikie that knows what they are doing.

The tampered timer does not really do much against you unless you have one extra box to search or the 4 are very far apart and more than just you are needing boxes. please the issue you had was not the timer, because as was pointed out you have 2 minutes with the tampered timer, but when the pig is around (inside the terror radius) your timer stops. You got unlucky because of the player playing the pig, not because of the add ons the pig had. if you wish to complain about add-ons, do not use a commodius toolbox with socket swivels/gen plans (or replace one with a brand new part), don't use a ranger med kit with speed addons, don't bring a key. You are doing the same as a killer does when they didn't like the fact their survivors had toolboxes.....

better luck for opponents plus the one thing you can do about this is to get better at the game, learn to avoid being downed etc. learn the right loops to run and the wrong ones to run. trust me it takes 100's of hours to get at minimum competent at the game.

I said they can most likely track this stuff, but why bother, you watch my friend people will hook die, and BHVR will do nothing about it. They have done all they are going to do in regards to DC.

why would they punish a choice in the GAME when the issue is someone leaves the game via a menu button you have to intentionally hit escape [then] selecting leave match. I know someone who plays, can only reliably press the struggle button about 25 percent of the time because he has limited motion in on hand and he tends to not over use his hand. yet he refuses to click "leave game" because he doesn't believe it. There is a difference between dying on the hook and disconnecting. these differences are:

    1) you do not have to open up a game menu to not choose to struggle like you do to click the leave menu button.

    2) it has been said that clicking the button to DC is against the rules

Those are the two biggest reasons not to do it. here's another example: in american football, you can not form a group (exiting the game to the menu and selecting the button) but you can do a little jig in the endzone when a touchdown has been scored. so no group celebration, but a solo celebration is allowed to some extent because the former requires you to make a choice to bring others in on the "celebration" the latter however is not normally expected.

Not worth my time to stay in certain games. I just had a game where i spent 8 minutes looping the killer and not a single gen got done while i looped him, all my teammates were crouching somewhere. So when i got downed after 8 minutes you just want to dc since some games it's simply not worth playing i also got deranked -1 so might as well dc instead of staying 10 more minutes in a game you know you won't win and you know you will definitely derank whatever you do. Now i simply unhook and try to die instead of dcing immediately prevents the penalties

take the -1 penalty plus the time penalty.... where as you would have just the -1 rank pip penalty without the time penalty when you just die on the hook. or after 4 minutes of bleeding out. there is no reason to dc because you looped the killer for 8 minutes and then got downed because no one got gens done. does that get you mad? well die on hook and move on, dc and you get to stew while you can't play. see the difference? sure dc, go play another game and be done with it and hope the next time you start up you don't get a similar situation and dc again and now you have 2 dcs penalizing you for even longer of a cool down period.

  • Look it is simple. if you don't want to play because it's a doc or other killer, go to the killer and get hooked. try to get off 3 times and then don't struggle. if you are that sensitive to game play i understand but if you want to DC then realize that the others will be affected. sometimes i laugh it off but if i've had an off day with this i revert to i don't care i'm ending the game my way quickly without disconnecting.

If you don't like how someone is playing stop playing. don't cause your friends to have to wait, 5-10-30 minutes or what ever the time period is and leave the game for a while and cool down. the game is the game. you get good ones and you get bad ones. don't ruin it for others.

as has been stated in the game, participating in non-normal game play or AFKing [IS] against TOS. taking the out provided in the game is not against TOS. IF you're already upset, then don't play, if you get upset go play something else. these DC penalties are there because people have ruined the game play of others in the last year or more. The DEVs seem to look into reports. i just can't verify beyond the message i get back when i submit the second ticket through their website.... anyways have a good time in the game, find something to laugh at.... sure if you laugh at the killer who wiffed 10 times, so be it but don't call them a noob, don't tell them to uninstall because you won. move on. it's one game out of how many?

  • I laugh when people cry about disconnect penalties, EXCEPT when it is out of their control. "Oh I didn't like how that killer nodded his head at me, it is TOXIC!" "I'm going to deny the survivors the escape points because I don't give a damn". the thing is I was in a match today, and someone was being healed in the exit and I on my level 10 Hag drove the healing player off, and i then picked up the survivor as he didn't crawl out. suddenly I hear the "ding" and saw the disconnect. I was going to pick him up, pull him back into the match area and drop him so i could find hatch. i didn't care if he got out because I got my challenge/daily done so I was going to let them leave. it was my FIRST match of the day, and why would he disconnect? because he was stuck in the geometry? nope... he just didn't want me to get hook points. I'm sorry.... DC penalties are needed, and people need to start understanding that they are necessary. sure people will suicide on hook, that's their right, there is a mechanic for this. Also there is no reason to keep struggling. NOW you ask what is the difference? 1) there is a mechanic to try to get off the hook, 2) killer gets hook points for the hook, summoning the entity, and then the sac. 3) survivors get the chance to rescue people how ever short, and finally 3) you didn't remove the chance for anyone to complete a challenge what so ever.

AFK killers: this is just as bad, because this is being done to circumvent the ranking system and it removes the chance for survivors to possibly pip up by removing one WHOLE emblem (chaser) from the calculations! This is the biggest reason.... it can be verified with videos, and data from the dedicated servers.

I find the only two problems is the game crashes, network issues and lack of appeals because sometimes there are things outside of the player's ability to control that cause the DC, and to penalize people for that, even for a short period of time if it was the first time.

  • @Diesel said:

Whatever system is in place I feel it good to know the rank, or number of who you faced as this can give you some more insight as to why you may have performed the way that you did. Hiding it makes me feel as if they are hiding a broken matchmaking system.

though you wouldn't need to know the exact number perhaps a ^ or ^^ to indicate higher than you, or much higher than you. and a down arrow or double down arrow for the lower or much lower than you. this tells you information without knowing specific information.

  • since this post is about the matchmaking post they made i want to say this: does anyone not see the same (very, very similar if not the same) when they were talking about changing match making so killers couldn't tell if a group was swf (100% tell that is) or not???? right after that was talk about the dedicated servers and that was to be dovetailed into dedicated servers. now once again it's the same: "The new batch matchmaking will instead pool a larger number of players together, compare their skill levels, and then create the fairest matches possible simultaneously. With a larger pool to pick from, we hope to improve the fairness factor of matchmaking while also keeping pings and wait times low. " lets make a pool of killers, and a pool of survivors (and swfs) and match them the best we can. this way the killer sees all 4 players at the same time and can't tell if there is a 2 stack, 3 stack or a full 4 stack swf there for 100% certainty.

  • What I see here is people changing the definition of "Tunneling" to make their arguments stick. this does nothing to make this argument any where close to being worked out. here are the definitions I have seen so far in this thread alone:

    1) tunneling is the act of a killer to chase the unhooked survivor immediately, downing them and re-hooking them. (this is the definition I follow)

    2) tunneling is the act of a killer re-hooking a survivor quickly (more of a broad redefinition of #1).

    3) tunneling is the act of a killer when he follows up to 4 survivors to the point he downs them and hooks them again. (idiotic way to see this but it was one of the ideas)

    4) tunneling is the act of a killer who picks up a survivor from a trap they stepped in even if they just got off the hook.

    5) (not seen here) following a survivor for a long period of time without even once hooking them till they are hooked

    6) tunneling is the act where a killer returns to a hook and downs the unhooker immediately then hooks them, picks up the chase of the unhooked survivor and downs and hooks them again.

so the first thing that must be agreed upon before you can even come close to some sort of conclusion is that the definition of tunneling must be codified in this discussion and then you speak of that definition and make your conclusions there. survivors here and on streams and in game will use many more definitions of tunneling that serves them. the biggest issue is people don't like it because it's not a fun thing but it is not in the rules unless you look at the survivor rule book for killers in which they can do no wrong and killers have to let them go.

tunneling and camping are not sporting, they are not entertaining but they are NOT against any rules. how many people have to be hooked before the person unhooked could be picked up without worry of DS? people are so entitled to winning in this game that has multiple win conditions as defined by the person playing yet it is so bad that people had DS didn't like being in a match with another DS wielding player because if they weren't the obsession they would have to wait 30-40% of the wiggle meter to use theirs. they complained and it got changed. now killers are complaining that it allows people run around without any checks for up to one minute. lets look at what a survivors and killers have to worry about in the match (beyond the obvious don't get caught, or catch etc)

survivors: 1) 4 killer perks, 2) (if solo survivor) what the perks of the other 3 players are, 3) how many gens are left/done (there is a ui indicator for this), 4) how many totems are left on the map, 5) where is the hatch, and 6) is survivor X,Y,Z, or me on 2nd hook or Death hook. (I might have missed some but this seems to be the most of them)

Killers: 1) 4 perks of 4 survivors (16 perks to remember/find out), 2) how many gens are left/done (ui indicator for this), 3) which survivor(s) was unhooked in the last up to 60 seconds (up to 4 different survivors could be in this category), 4) how many totems are removed from the map (if they have noed or other hex perks at all), 5) the hook status of all 4 survivors, 6) where is the hatch.

this means the killers have much more to keep track of and yet survivors get all the timing perks! deep wounds no longer counts down on the killer's ui, pig's traps don't show how much time is left when hats are active, freddy doesn't know when survivors are about to fall asleep. but survivors see all of this plus more (haunted grounds timer is visible on both sides) lots of issues to deal with so define the issue specifically and work out a solution!

  • The PTB is not a true test bed for anything. it is a last chance for the devs to note issues they haven't seen and fix things for themselves. feedback sometimes factors in on this but it seems generally not. I don't go to the PTB without having a group of friends with me to play kill your friends and we do that just to get used to the new killer and survivor and the new updates nothing more. beyond that our opininon has never mattered and that is honestly how I feel about this. Honestly the only opinion most devs seem to take in this company is that of the very prolific rank 1's-4's that have a public following. and that is still an iffy thing if they take it or not.

DEVS: please note I do not hate you guys, I am just very disenchanted with the lackluster communications when honest feedback is given and nothing ever happens along with reporting issues that your UI says to report and being told you should not waste our time with a report as it's taken care of on he backend yet nothing is ever done about it.

  • @Jimbobads said:

Does the report function even do anything?

I mean i'm 99% sure it's not even being monitored.

I dunno... they say they monitor the dc's from back end information but hey what else can i do to atleast make me feel like i'm doing something.

  • @Boosted_Dwight said:

Matchmaking is an issue they are working on right now. We should be getting info some time in the coming weeks.

well it's GREAT that something that existed for this long is barely being talked about by the devs.

as far as i know it wasn't part of the Q&A... and still don't see it in the patch notes as a known issue.

  • I've had the same issues, and i posted one up the other day as well.. i'm tired of it. though a sever penalty over dc needs to be able to be appealed. the dc is there because if someone is stuck in game geometry and no one else is alive to trigger end game collapse (killer can not do it till the hatch is open and finding it could be minutes to find, and then it'd be another 2-3 minutes depending on survivor state. also if the killer is completely stuck in game from the begining then they would have to wait for the survivors to do gens, then totems, search all chests, throw all pallets, find the hatch, open both doors, and egc gets completed and last survivor finally leaves just before. that would suck!

I report at the scoreboard, but i don't do a further report. they always say they track using the back end functionality but they do not take action, or it doesn't report to them till it is someone doing it EVERY match probably or if they get into a match with a dev will they then act. that's how it feels.

I think the AI killers from the tutorial are just scripted to carry those actions out. Actually having an AI killer to play against would be much more complicated to implement in the game. You have to remember, all killers rely on their special ability, and teaching a computer when and how to use their abilities reliably is a big challenge, let alone simulated but realistic hunting of survivors.

I agree AI anything is not something that would be good on either side, what was mentioned as a possibility was just leaving a husk in game that can be hooked and sac'd or mori'd etc. which just requires the game to put a place holder standing right were the dc'd player was. This also drops their item in the match area and others could pick up the items as well so it's a win win on all sides. heck survivors could conceivably heal the husk if the killer stops the chase for some reason and goes off. anyways I understand that some mori's might trigger fears and what not. I can understand this as this would be medical reasoning to dc when you find out it's the clown and what not because that can trigger anxiety, fear, and many more medical conditions. though if they want to use that excuse there may need to be a bit of medical documentation required or they may need to just stop playing in order for the account to not receive penalties etc, so it is something that those at behavior have to have in place, don't have to tell anyone about but back end policies on how to deal with communications about the dc.

the husk idea though doesn't really penalize anyone at this point and gives killers the opportunity to get the points or progression. This whole thread was based around the proposition that husks be used to help minimize the impact of DC's. and still give them time to work out a penalty system that doesn't penalize things out of the player's control. It may even be enough to not require penalties beyound simple no blood points, removal of some blood points stored and time between matches etc.

  • @InnCognito said:

This is from MY spectating POV when players abandon matches. This is observations only.

    • Being the first one struck down by the killer within the first 30 seconds of the game.
    • Being struck down in a pallet.
    • Being struck down through a window.
    • Being camped, pulled off the hook and struck down again.
    • Being the last one standing and then after the hatch closes. They abandon.
    • Being slugged for an extended period of time.
    • After a team mate being hung, the killer beelines it to their location (BBQ).

and none of those are valid reasons to disconnect. if that's the mindset then why play the game at all? "I lost ruin in the first minute of the game, i'm done" means you need to play without it and learn to do so. "I got tunneled" means you need to let go of your notions you will win any game when two sides are pitted against each other. "I saw the killer coming for me from across the map and through buildings because the killer had BBQ" this is hilarious too. slugged for long periods of time? just crawl to a corner and go afk or do somethign else,in 3-4 minutes you'll be out of the match anyways. struck through a window? hmm it's open, you just passed through it why can't the killer's weapon? being struck in a pallet means they hit you before you started over it but latency didn't register the hit on your end right away.

honestly the only reason it is there to prevent games from becoming infinite because of a game breaking issue "survivor stuck in the geometry" where killer can't even knock you down to get you out." or killer stuck in the geometry. there is an emergency you have to take care of and you don't want to be stuck in a match during that time though it's questionable why you'd dc then log out of everything unless you're a security nut for an emergency. it is acceptable to dc if you loose power or internet (can't help that) or if a router in the middle of your data path craps out and the network disconnects you.
