If they were I'm pretty sure boons would be the worst survivor perks in the game
They'd still have a ways to go to reach No Mither level of bad, or even Autodidact. But they'd definitely be in the bottom 10%.

So anything that's a buff to a killer or their perks automatically means they'll want to tunnel more?
No, but a change to make survivors weaker when they come off the hook does.

Maybe this perk could be the first to make an exception for that rule. Again, "Shake up the meta!" but nobody wants to buff anything weak to semi-viability.
That's not really 'shaking up the meta', that's just a big ol' green light for camping/tunnelling.

Why on Earth would they make the game free to play now? The game has never been in such poor health.
I know, Halloween and all. But still, not exactly the best first look for future new players, wouldn't it?
Between the BP codes, the tweet about NFTs and the free weekend, I think there might be some damage control going on.

So, Survivors need to have their end-game improved when their team ######### up (Hatch doesn't mean anything for the KBMM). Kinda like how Killer has the capability to camp last Hook. Items need to be nerfed a bit (specifically Toolboxes). And DS/BT need visual indicators.
And DS/BT need visual indicators.
That's a no.
Because the game is, according to his (granted, rather minimal) data, pretty well balanced. But that is WITH DS/BT threat. If they had visual indicators, then the absence of those would immediately allow killers to capitalise and tunnel, which would improve their kill rate at the expense of survivors.

Not quite what I was getting at for the 'not meaning much;' I was referring to the statistics.
If people don't spend money on the game, then that's a big issue for bhvr, so if enough people do it, it really does mean something regardless of the number of players.
I will say that playing the game still puts value in BHVR's pockets. In a multiplayer based experience, the players are part of the product being sold. One person playing can inspire another to spend.

This is the price for technological development.
But the food bank is not helping to cope with hunger around the world. It helps to survive, doesn't it?!
This has nothing to do with technological development, this is purely a pyramid scheme. Yes, the fact that this is possible is a product of technological advancement, but it's not a necessary drawback at all. NFTs have no functional value.

I don't understand the hype around the NTF. This is a pretty interesting technology and quite new. It can be a good tool in the current world when copyright and patent laws require changes. It is necessary to wait for its further development.
About claims:
It is used by scammers and so on ... Alas, this is so. But it looks like the way of cryptocurrency. Now time has passed and people began to come up with tools to work with it. I think if NTF develops, it will also happen to it.
It does great harm to nature. This is upward cynicism and hypocrisy. The world is full of other things that are harmful, like NTF, and possibly more. And the war for eco sometimes goes beyond all reasonable limits. And this is an example of that. In my opinion, the big problem here is not the NFT but not the perfection of the current electric power industry.

If you buy a property out of state that you have never been to, you get a piece of paper that says you own it. Someone could scam you and sell you a fake deed to a property they don't actually have the title to but it doesn't mean that in non-fraudulent cases you wouldn't actually own the property.
I think the question isn't "what happens if you get scammed", the question is, "what happens when you don't get scammed?" And assuming the business is on the up-and-up then what you're buying is the original work.
The difference is that one is legally backed, the other is not. Buying an NFT isn't buying the original work, even in the best scenario. Legally, the rights to the original work remain with the creator until they are transferred via a valid, legal system. The absolute best you can hope for is that the creator doesn't come after you when you try to exploit whatever you purchased the NFT of.
All you're getting is a slim assurance that no one else gets to buy the same NFT. And I suspect even that is on thin ice.

The moment a skin is locked behind an NFT it will cross the Steam rules about blockchains.
Perhaps. Or perhaps they'll say that 'There's still no blockchain technology in the game and you can't trade NFTs in DBD' as an attempt at weaseling their way out. They're chatting up Epic Games on twitter apparently, so they might be fishing for a contingency plan.

Mass hysteria based on incomplete understanding of NFTs, inability to correctly comprehend tweets/text, unrealistic fear of Steam deleting DBD.
Many people complain about the environmental impact of NFTs, which is correct because NFTs use cryptocurrencies to work, and cryptocurrencies have high energy demand which mostly comes from coal plants. But this is a bit unfair, because I don't believe they were outraging when some companies started to accept e.g. Bitcoins.
Why would the DBD forums be in outrage over a company completely unassociated with DBD misbehaving?
That's like saying it's unfair for people to criticise DBD's balance because League of Legends has bad balancing too.
-
An NFT is comparable to a piece of paper that says you own a particular image. However, the piece of paper isn't legally binding, and the amount of power required to print it was about as much as an entire household consumes in 2.5 days. So in short, it's a massive waste of resources for something that only holds value to other people who buy into the NFT market.
If that sounds like a really bizarre concept, you're not getting confused, you have a proper grasp of the situation. You understand, roughly, what an NFT is. The concept itself is just a really dumb idea.

The people who are writing something like that are a minority. Most people do not know about NFTs or problems like that and other know but made up their mind about this.
Even if you consider this than we have to admit that the new patch is pretty good. BHVR listend to the community with this one and made some highly demanded nerfs/buffs. Spirit, Deathslinger and Wraith nerfs where very popular demands even here on the forum. Ghostface and most important of all Trapper buffs where also very good.
Finaly the new survivor is content that can be bought with Shards. This means that it is very accessible to all kind of player and bordering on free to play. Her design is nice and her perks are pretty cool too. So many people get drawn to this mid-chapter that offers a breath of fresh air.
And even people who are aware of the NFTs situation maybe decide that it is not that bad. Other companies they use every day (twitter as an example) have made NFTs themself and not even over a third party like BHVR. Also when you consider that most of the new content is free for all player: Why stop playing the game? You are not giving any more money to BHVR just by playing, in fact you probably cost them money because you use their server capacities.
Playing supports the game. Every player is part of the product being sold. If the player count drops below critical mass, the game dies.

That's a critical thing to note about NFTs: The 'proof of ownership' people are buying when they acquire an NFT is entirely meaningless outside the NFT bubble. You could buy the NFT of an image and then have the actual legal rights be sold to someone else.

Right, but we don't currently know if the decision to make the NFTs was made during that contract signing, or afterwards. Park Ave have the right to do it at any time, or so I'm given to understand.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's likely this NFT thing was part of the license agreement and whoever at BHVR signed it just didn't think it was a problem, and that in itself is what BHVR did wrong, but it's relevant to both the general outrage and the topic as to whether they cross Steam's new rules that they didn't create this, call for it to be made, or integrate it into the game; they just had to help due to the license agreement.
If it was a decision made afterwards then there's two scenarios:
A) BHVR was under no obligation to endorse Boss Protocol
or
B) Their contract had a 'you must support whatever we do' stipulation
Case A makes them culpable, case B makes them morons. There's no scenario where BHVR comes out okay.

According to the DBD twitter, they were legally obligated to aid Park Ave in their creation of NFTs through Boss Protocol. The nuance does matter, it depends on where Steam draws the line.
BVHR themselves didn't make NFTs, DBD doesn't contain any NFTs, if the ban is purely about not wanting NFT content on Steam then DBD is in the clear. If they want to take a harder stance to really make the point, DBD would be a great place to make that example.
Legally obligated -by a contract they signed, willingly-.

I just cant read this hypocrisy anymore.
He wasn't nearly that high in demand. Springtrap and Candyman were more requested.
And even if he was, that doesn't mean he was in demand -under these circumstances-. If he'd released with the same licensing deal as literally every preceding killer, there wouldn't be a problem.
And hey, that might've been a reality if they waited half a year, since apparently, the current license holders are losing the license in December, so they could've negotiated a far more reasonable deal.

You can not play dbd for whatever reason you want it just makes no sense to me.
Even if the game isn't directly impacted -right now-, there are supposedly plans to integrate NFTs into the game more extensively. So either this gets uprooted here, or DBD runs the risk of becoming an NFT game.
You know, that on top of the NFT endorsement itself and the fact that BHVR misled the community.

Boycotting =/= massive firing of employees unless the company decides to double down all the way into the grave. A course correction will save their profits. Firing employees won't make the customers come back.
And hey, call me an optimistic idiot, but there's a ton of people out there who find themselves acutely spending a little less on 1v4 asymmetrical horror games, so if all the devs up and left to kickstart a new project, they might just get the funds they need.

So...
In a pyramid scheme, the value of your investment is based on how many other people buy into the same scam.

Just wanted to clear this. I see the pyramide sheme, art theft and the hurt to the enviroment becase it wasts energy. However I see other things far more harmful to the enviroment (cars, holiday flights, oil production via fracking, burned rainforest for soja) that are more common and dangerous than a NFT based on proof of stake. And the pyramide sheme is only a problem for people who do not look into this things and...well, you need to put some effort into your own decisions... The point I do not see standing is money laundaring (that is done mostly in normal currency).
This is a good thing about this whole situation is that is rises the awareness about NFTs and blockchain and how that impacts the enviroment. Because to tell the truth, prior to this I only knew about cryptos and blockchains but not about NFTs...
All the other things you mention: Cars, holiday flights, oil production, soy production, all of these things have tangible benefits that are weighed against their detriment. We do need to live, after all, which is why we need food production, why we need communication services, transport, and even relaxation.
NFTs have these drawbacks, but their 'benefit' is the pyramid scheme. NFTs hold absolutely zero value outside the NFT market. They do nothing. They mean nothing. They are nothing. Only within the scope of the pyramid scheme do they have any semblance of value.
It's the worst of both worlds. You get a pyramid scheme AND environmental damage.

It'd still be a pyramid scheme that's built on hurting the environment, so it'd still be awful, but at least it wouldn't be apocalyptically awful.

The problem with NFTs is that they take more energy than a household to produce.
It's screwing over the planet and, by extension, the human race, all for a quick buck in a pyramid scheme.

While the impact on DBD's internal gameplay will be minimal, it does mean DBD is directly encouraging a market that's blowing up the planet.
Also, if the Butterball skin and/or the 'You opened it, I came' voiceline are NFT exclusive, that'll be the gateway to more crypto bullcrap.
