  • You know your in for a bad game when

First 15 seconds killer hits survivor, 3 seconds later killer downs survivor.

lf l had a dollar for everytime this has happened in solo, l would be saying “move over bill gates, there is a new sheriff in town”. You

    2 player SWF is fine.

4 player SWF is overkill and very unhealthy for this game.

and considering 4 player swf is a "minority" then removing 4 SWF wouldn't really affect the game, right?

But if it’s a minority why bother?

    because it’s a minority right?

Not every 4 man is a sweaty seal team 6

    that’s the forum’s version of a 4 man swf.

  • All l know is there seem to be a lot more rank 1 killers than there ever was.

l certainly know it’s not the skill level of the player base that has increased.

maybe it’s cross play maybe it’s the amount of potatoes in solo.

maybe it’s the new map designs (apart from the game) bloodlust is king on all the auto maps with their short loops.

I hear it all the time how much of a tunneling piece of garbage I am or camper or whatever it is every single day from these people. They can rush gens though completely fine but if I need to put immense pressure yells no buddy that's completely wrong.

How are you putting immense pressure on gen rushing BT camping and tunneling? I’m confused

  • I think you will also find

The big killer streamers have stopped using gen slow down perks

    What’s that telling you?

someone tell me in the history of DBD when it was easier to play killer than right now

  • I don’t think he needs a nerf

he needs a change again, the old Freddy for me albeit a little on the weaker side was so much more fun to play.

This version (for me) is boring to play and play against.

They have kinda gone from one extreme to the other.

from a weakish fun killer to a boring strong killer.

They have just gotta work out how to get it right if they even can.

  • @celesteismore said:

A true tunneler will still come for you even if you ds them. They should make the stun longer or make it you can't see their scratch marks and pools of blood.

    I agree

l like this version because every killer that plays without the need for tunneling will no longer get cucked by it.

but l feel it’s not going to do much against a true tunneler then timer should pause while in chase.

but then again if it’s a true tunneler they are gonna eat DS anyway and just keep coming.

You're tired of something that hardly exists. I can count the number of "hackers" I've seen over 5 years on one hand.

These are scenarios of intuition, guessing, or he got information from you that you didn't realize. Just because he isn't running tracking perks doesn't mean much. I don't even run a single tracking perk on most killers these days as you can gauge survivors location simply through intuition and experience.

    I agree

He might have actually got you also by blind luck, I mean I cant count the amount of times a killer has found me without any sort of aura or even knowledge that I was there, sometimes dumb luck comes into play.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

While it's understandable not every killer has to get 4k every game so killers are balanced around their ability to get at least 2k but at the same time we depip at 2-3 kills.

While survivors can be their absolute worst and even get killed and still pip.

you can't balance killer to only be good at getting maybe 2k to later depip us for getting 2k.

A survivor at the higher end can also depip after escaping

The emblem system is what it is.

Can you post the link to this book?

  • I don’t care

1 less survivor, lt usually means a win

on the flip side l don’t blame a survivor for hook suiciding if it’s some sweaty strider spirit proxy camping, ready for the tunnel.

Do you know what debating in poor faith means? It means consciously misrepresenting or debating what you know not to be true (e.g purposefully putting words in someone's mouth, or pretending to not understand fully what someones point).

There hasn't been a tournament, but we know Dbd's stance on certain things, so the rules in a competitive mode of the game will be similar to that of the normal game. Most games that are e sports are similar rules, so using that I assume they will be the same. So the chances are, they will not ban tunneling or camping. Whilst I'm not 100% certain, I'm above 75% certain.

Saying that as an argument to say that we can't infer their bans or what their stances on these, is ridiculous. Your using the argument of " we haven't had a tournament so we can't have A reasonable guess at what their rules are seeing as we know their overall stance on these things" which is wrong. Just straight up wrong.

Unless the game has a massive overhall

    Ok

so what part of poor mans faith is the statement “There has never been a tournament, so we dont know the rules”

what part of this statement is not true?

lt cants be poor mans faith if it’s actually a fact right? or by your logic does poor mans faith work from 75% to 100% in an attempt to back up your argument?

l am not putting words in your mouth l simply made a statement.

l am not the one continually arguing over a statement that is fact.

you still didn’t answer how’s it a loose definition, that seems to be the way you argue, you just pick something new to argue about to deflect the fact you cant answer.

like l have been saying all along it’s ok to debate and it’s ok to speculate and discuss that’s what forums are for.

But we still don’t know the rules of a DBD tournament because there has never been one.

The fact you took offense to this statement so badly is mind boggling.

Anyway l will leave it there, l have slimy son of a ######### things to do.

But we can base this off most other tournaments and e sports games, and we know they don't care about it.

Unless your asking if I can say with a 100% degree of accuracy (hint, if you mean this then nothing can be assumed, because your literally saying unless someone has definitive proof we cannot make points and say things will likely happen and nothing is that certain) then yes we can say this will happen.

In fact, I'd say your the one debating semantics here, not Asher, your using the loosest definitions possible to debate a point and keep following them.

You are just debating in poor faith. That's all it is. If you cannot debate In good faith, then don't debate at all. It just makes you seem like a slimy son of a #########.

    Whats the loose definition?

That there hasnt been an official tournament so we dont know the rules? is that loose?

and calling someone a slimy son a ######### might also fall into the category of debating in poor faith, dont you think?

If a organisation say they hate something, and then branch off and become well known throughout the country, do you think that those other parts of said organisation will be held with the same principles.

Behaviour devs have already said they don't care about tunneling, and will not punish it. So why do you think they will do it in a tournament setting.

"Please show me a written statement from behaviour about the rules of an official DBD tournament" is just a way of saying you have no basis for your argument, and are looking for the nichest way to discredit my point.

If they don't care about tunneling, can you give me a reason why they would ban it in a tournament but refuse to in a normal game.

    I'll wait

Behaviour devs have already said they don't care about tunneling, and will not punish it. So why do you think they will do it in a tournament setting.

"Please show me a written statement from behaviour about the rules of an official DBD tournament" is just a way of saying you have no basis for your argument, and are looking for the nichest way to discredit my point.

This shows you haven't understood anything that I have written.

I have never once said they will or they wont allow anything in a tournament.

Now for the 50th time, hopefully this one sinks in

We don't know what the rules of an official DBD tournament are because there has never been one.

is this clear enough or are you going to continue to get angry and not understand what I am trying to say.

Because I am not making any statements about tunneling in a tournament

All I have tried to say which seems to be falling on deaf ears is

We dont know the rules of an official tournament because there hasnt been one.

  • @AsherFrost said:

They kept it the same as the rules had been while they were practicing.

They didn't make special rules for the tournament, they just kept the old set. Every single time a multiplayer game has had a tournament it has done something similar. If DbD did the same thing as literally every other multiplayer game did when creating a tournament, they would be keeping the rules as they are, not making new ones. Given a complete lack of any evidence that they wouldn't follow the lead of every game before them, it is reasonable to believe they wouldn't create special tournament only rules, and at most would use the set that exists at the time the tournament is first designed.

Why is that so hard to understand?

why is it so hard to understand?

Because its your opinion that's why. Its not a fact

like I said to the other guy show me the official set of rules written by behaviour about an official DBD tournament.

I'm speculating using the majority of examples of e sports. Your using the minority. Most e sports use the same rules. Most. OW have done it only two times to my knowledge.

If the devs are Saying that tunneling is a viable method and they will not punish it, why would they punish it in tournaments. Your logic just doesn't follow.

And your assuming they will punish it. My assumption is based on what they have said, what are you making your baseless claim on?

I am not assuming anything or claiming anything

I am saying you dont know the rules because there hasnt been an official tournamet

Please show me a writtien statement from behaviour about the rules of an official DBD tournmant

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2074862#Comment_2074862

You get that playing a different patch, and playing by completely different rules aren't the same thing, right? If one team in the OWL decided their best shot at winning was keeping the other teams' supports out of the match, and effectively tunneled them every time they could, nobody would stop the match and call foul. Yes they played with the older patch, so that the abilities of each character matched the practice each league team put in, they didn't change the rules in any fundamental way.

    You are talking semantics

regular comp played on a patch that changed role que from anything to a 2-2-2 system

yet OWL didn't play on that system for a whole series therefore the rules of the game were changed.

which comes back to my point which you clearly evaded

Noone knows the rules of a DBD tournament because there hasnt been an official tournament.

Is this concept so hard to grasp?

You two have been repeatedly saying things on the line of "that's not a behaviour tournament" so I'm now gonna just say this. If they allow for tunneling in their game, why would it change in tournaments. All other e sports I know have the same rules in their game as well as their tournaments. So why would this be any different.

And also, the reason these aren't punished is because it's necessary at high levels of play to do these things. Otherwise it's almost impossible to win. So they won't punish what you think is scummy when it's the only way for killers to win. Killers rely on survivors making mistakes, so they need to capitalise hard on mistakes and weaknesses.

In tournaments where every survivor group will be a 4 man swf you need to allow for these sorts of things otherwise the killer cannot win, and even then it's damn hard difficult to. Whilst survivors can breeze through with down time, killers have to be constantly on it and so they have the shorter end of the Stick.

If you think these would be banned or punished in official tournaments, your wrong. In fact, I'd reckon they'd even give more incentive to tunnel as it's the only reliable way to win against good survivor's.

Like I have tried to tell the other person and now I have to try and tell you

You dont know that, you are speculating

There has never been an official tournament so how would you know what rules or stipulations there will be?

You like the person are just assuming that's what will happen.

maybe it will, maybe it wont

All other e sports I know have the same rules in their game as well as their tournaments. So why would this be any different.

This is where you are wrong

    Take overwatch as an example

The OWL has played many times on a different patch from the regular season comp

They actually played the whole of last years finals on a different patch.

The finals and semi-finals of hexy's tournament had some very high skill players in there and they all used camp, tunnel and NOED. When you're playing to win and you're playing hard you aren't going to let survivors have an easy unhook.

    I’m sure they did

    but they arnt official tournaments

everyone here is just speculating about rules in game that has had no official tournament.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

"if they are aware these elements would get barred in actual big tournaments,"

Like the Japanese DBD tournament recently that had facecamping Bubba? or tombstone myers?

Or how about Hexy's tournament last year where most killers were doing proxy camp, tunnel and NOED.

They wouldn't be banned at all in tournaments because they are "legit strategies" whether you like it or not. In fact they can be pretty powerful when used correctly.

    They arnt official tournaments

The Japanese one was a casual setup tournament

    and Hexy is a steamer

Behaviour had no official involvement at all.

  • This isn’t going to make you feel better

I could care less about that person. I'm not a "White Knight" as you put it; I'm not even a nice person. What I do care about, in this medium, is accuracy. This is a forum and debates are about points. While I do not care about that person, I do care about the point he/she made. You failed to refute it. You engaged in a rhetorical fallacy instead. That tells me you KNOW you couldn't refute it. That is why the behavior reflects badly on you. Instead of debating it, or conceding the point, you chose to try and undermine that person's point in an inappropriate way. To put it in a computer games term, you tried to hack (cheat). So while I don't care about the person you responded to, I do care about that. It makes me care about you; do you really want to make yourself the object of my rhetorical obsession?

So, let's get back to the statements made and the debate itself. Can you refute that person's point or not? As a reminder, that poster pointed out that the Killer's job is to prevent Survivors from escaping, i.e. kill them. He pointed out it is not the job of the Killer to help the Survivor's achieve their goals. Please answer this point or concede it.

Why would l need to concede?

    What should l be conceding

l’m not arguing his point l couldn’t care less about his point

l was simply stating the IRONY of him complaining about another post about a subject then stating something that has also be said many many times

The content is irrelevant, The irony is.

This is a silly response, and reflects badly on you. You have no idea if that person is a so-called "Killer Main" or not. Most people here play both Killer and Survivor. Your rhetorical trick, attacking the speaker, doesn't answer the fundamental point made. It is the job of Killers to kill Survivors. It is the job of Survivors to escape. They have mutually exclusive goals, and neither of them are responsible for helping the other side. The person you attempted (poorly) to attack is 100% correct, and when you could not refute the point, you engaged in a fallacy. Please grow up.

    Well thank you

l was simply pointing out the fact that he was complaining about another post about killer bad/survivor good

Toward endgame. true, however, some killers will camp regardless. Tunnelling and camping should absolutely be discouraged by any means necessary. They provide a horrible experience for the receiving survivor. What happens when this survivor, who has been tunnelled and camped nonstop, becomes more proficient? They begin playing in a toxic manner, with little regard for the killers experience, and go all the way to teabag town. Then what happens to the next killer who comes against these survivors and gets bullied match after match? He breaks out the iri head huntress and goes straight to tunnel and camp.

BM breeds BM, its a downward spiral for the whole community, the antics of a few bad players end up having a chain reaction which just makes a less pleasant playing experience for everyone. Surely better to nip it in the bud and make these approaches non-viable playstyles? And yes, that includes being able to slam out all 5 generators in 5 minutes.

    Total bullshit

killers have been camping since day one ruin/undying or not

just like survivors have been doing gens quickly since day one.

Do you seriously think camping killers all of a sudden went “oh l have ruin/undying, l won’t camp anymore”

If you take away the freedom of playing how you want then the game is not fun anymore. Lot's of things is not "fun" for killers also so then survivors have to be limited in other ways also. And we all end up with a linear game that no one would like.

    The difference is

sure there are many unfair things for killers in this game.

but the killer is able to play the game and there is no survivor perk or mechanic that stops the killer from playing the game.

unlike standing in front of someone who can’t move.

Change your mindset to where a survivor escaping through hatch doesn't ruin your week and act like the survivor has personally mugged you and left you homeless after having stolen your dog just for escaping, and suddenly there's no problem.

Hatch is the best possible solution now that you can close it, and have been able to for years now. Only thing that has to change is a key escape.

Why would I need to change my mind set.

l shouldn’t have to wait 4 minutes in a game once l have lost to exit it, because two other players are looking to win it.

I should be able to leave that match and let them play it out.

lf this was a random 1 in 20 game thing l wouldn’t have a problem, but at high ranks especially with rank 1 killers it’s almost a formality.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Ah yes, remove the hatch and now instead of attempting to find it the last survivor will crouch around the map for 40 minutes just to be petty, maybe attempting a few gen repairs here or there so that they don't get accused of holding the game hostage WHAT AN AMAZING SOLUTION!
