  • Depends.

Did I struggle to catch at least two while gens were popping left and right? Nope.

Did I comfortably hooked everyone twice without ever dropping a chase? Yes. Though I'd feel the same with 4E after such a trial.

  • My Hux powered down for the event. I like to play nice and spread hooks, but Singularity isn't really good for choosing targets. Hux can't afford not chasing someone wandering in his sights.

  • Interesting idea - considering they just released a great slugging perk.

  • So... the common denominator is some people getting mad? Can't say I'm surprised.

Even if you aren't camping you will be punished. SWF will figure out how to do it, and it really depends on the numbers. But with multi-floor maps, you can have many situations where you aren't actually camping, but the game thinks you are, even though it would take you a solid 15-20 seconds to get to the hook because you have to walk all the way around. For example midwich has plenty of these areas and the floor is very thin. Ranges in this game work off of a bubble around the thing, not actual walking/pathing distance, so killers WILL be punished when they aren't camping and campers won't actually be punished because they are still gonna be able to do it.

I'm surprised they didn't just make hooks work like PH cages where if you are too near it, you get teleported to a different hook. Not saying that is a good option, but it is probably better than the proposed system.

Do you often spend considerable amount of time alone in a random 16m radius as killer?

If no, the anti-facecamp feature shouldn't affect you when you aren't camping. A half-filled self-unhook bar has the exact same effect as an empty one.

Basement Bubba's out here ready for the challenge.

Fun-fact: the anti-facecamp distance is going to be 16 meters - exactly the same as Kindred range. My Insidious Bubba learned early to stand outside of that. I also practiced double-tapping with Speed-Limiter, so I should be good. :]

  • Too bad my Hux-mmr is at rock bottom from extended practice of last week. It'll take a while before I can test him on a gud team.

  • Am I the only one who sees a great difference between an anti-camping feature some players envision and the anti-facecamp feature they actually announced? I feel those who think it's the same thing will be terribly disappointed once the new system goes live.

I don't think they'll do anything with slugging or tunneling, just as they aren't making an anti-camping feature either.

  • Sloppy, Nurse's, Jolt, Devour if the survivors look gud,

Devour, Thrill, Plaything, Pentimento if they look casual solos.

  • My favorite is catching them healing. I mean sure, everyone knows Hexes are weak. Being healthy will be great value once the only survivor looking for the totem finds it.

  • Survivors left on hook when I'm nowhere near it.

It makes me go full tryhard mode. Only the one who I was chasing so couldn't save gets a pass.

You misunderstand me. Grades should not reward bloodpoints at all imo. The ranks used to have a connection to matchmaking. When they added the new MMR system they just kept the grades as a reward for playtime. 12 hook games should not reward for grades. It should reward MMR instead. Giving 1 million points just because you played around 70 games a month is like a participation trophy that is unnecessary. They should ditch the bp for grades and have them be connected to MMR instead.

We're back to square one. You'd want to reward my casual playstyle by giving me tryhard survivors instead of a million monthly bp. If I only look at the killer-side of this proposal, I could only stay in the casual mmr by playing in a nasty manner, and trying to kill with as few hooks as I can.

But I admit, one of Seal's post made me realize that I'm only able to evaluate one half of this proposal, as I don't play survivor. If I assume he's right and his system also encourages survivors to interact with the killer instead of efficiently pushing gens, I could imagine it being not terrible. Thus, my stance on the matter changed from 'definite no' into a 'hopeful maybe'. Hell, at this point I'd even be supportive if I had any problem with the current matchmaking. But I feel the current system rewards my casual approach nicely, and it's mainly sweaty tryhards who complain about it.

  • I kinda' like playing a killer and not hating the usual massive open maps, but the small cramped ones that feel beneficial to most killers.

Rotten Fields is also terrible. Nowhere to put pods beyond shack in the middle, and corn makes targeting survivors a mess. One EMP in shack and you've gotta reset everything.

It's not half-bad! The upper pipes of the harvesters and the cow-tree are excellent pod-spots with massive coverage. Pods ignore corn, and you can also hand-snipe the infected you have no way to see.

  • Chess is better balanced, but has no gore or screams at all. I pick dbd.

    Hey,

thanks, so, I do need to plant the turrets before I can use the power.

It's only from these turrets that I can use the power.

I have to possess the turrets to hit the survivors.

Unless the survivor is tagged from a turret, the power is useless.

I can teleport from the turret, or in chase and it will happen automatically? Confused about this last part

In a chase, the only thing power related I can do, is to possess a pre-placed turret.

The unlimited EMPs can render everything above useless unlimited times, with no effort?

I really appreciate the response and detail you have provided!

I think you are still missing the coolest part - you can teleport to infected survivors by shooting them directly from your hand. It even has a considerably longer range than when you use it for placing pods, so you can snipe.

While it is harder to get a 12 hook 4K game than a 4 hook 4K game That's what MMR should be based around. If you play well then you should face better and better teams. That's what MMR is. Let's say you have a game with 9 hooks and a 1K. Lots of back and forth between all the players, and then 3 manage to barely escape. Do you think that killer should get rewarded the same amount grade-wise as a Bubba with Deadlock, Corrupt, No way out and Noed who got 4 hooks and 4 kills? The current grade system is a joke in my opinion since it's purely based on playtime and not skill. They have a rank system in the game that's only purpose is to give you some points at the end of each month. Why even have a grade system if it has no connection to skill? The OP is saying that MMR should be based off of hooks and not kills, which I agree with. Is it a perfect system? No, but there will never be one until MMR is visible. People will constantly complain about how they're high MMR and get only sweaty matches when they're not High MMR to begin with. I feel like if people could see their MMR it would solve a LOT of problems and complaints in the community. That's my take at least which OP also said

We are talking about matchmaking, and not grades. Grades actually already reward hooks real well. Getting to Iri 1 is a breeze if you are aiming for 12 hook games, and I'm pretty sure it's literally impossible if you bleed everyone out with 0 hooks.

A higher mmr rating is only a "reward" if you like to struggle. What you are proposing is punishing the many hooks by harder matches, and "rewarding" the 4 hook - 4 kill Bubba with easier groups of survivors.

So you think if you do good you deserve to go against Weaker players every game? That's legit the opposite of MMR, and a really bad Idea. That would mean that every 8000 hour Nurse who wins would eventually get legit brand new players with 2 hours in the game. Your logic is flawed

    Nope, you misunderstood.

Since getting a 4k with 12 hooks is considerably harder than getting a 4k with 4 hooks, a player who aims for 12 will reach a lower mmr rating than if he'd simply win with 0-4 hooks. In other words, a fair and chill killer player gets easier trials in the current system.

Op's proposition would turn this the other way around. The best facecampers and sluggers would get a low mmr as they wouldn't get many hooks, therefore they'd face new players. A fair killer who sacrifices efficiency for 12 hook trials would get a high mmr, thus he'd face the most experienced and coordinated swfs. It doesn't make the slightest sense, and I can't imagine who'd enjoy that.

Nope, you misunderstood. I think if I play in a less efficient (but more enjoyable) manner, I should be playing against similarly inefficient groups (as it happens now).

If I would receive a higher mmr for getting 4k with 12 hooks instead of 4k with 4 hooks, my bad but fun playstyle would be punished by facing more efficient survivors. Op's proposed system aims to reward easier playstyles (like facecamping) with weaker teams, and punish a harder but casual approach (12 hooking) by gruping them with the most coordinated swfs out there.

  • @Seal_Massacre said:

@Evan_ I don't think that would be an issue with this formula. You can ask anyone that watches me play on Twitch that I try to get 12 hooks every game without camping and tunneling. You'll only see me tunnel if I'm having a bad game or if I'm dealing with Sabotaging goblins. I play fair as you possibly can and I still win 70-80% of my matches. I like getting survivors better than me. Makes me a better killer.

I'm also aiming for 12 hook games. That results in a considerably lower mmr than if I tried to get 4k with 0-4 hooks. Currently my casual approach is rewarded by facing similarly casual teams who present a challenge even with my nice and fair playstyle.

In your system trying to get 12 hooks would be punished by going against the most efficient and coordinated teams out there. This makes me glad that bhvr is in charge of matchmaking and not you.

  • I wouldn't like to face better survivors and coordinated teams just because I don't camp and try not to tunnel.

Not sure where the notion of higher killer mmr being some sort of reward comes from. I only see downsides of it.

I will be honest, i did not see any good Singularity today except one.

All of them played with very basic and readable way. But the one who played so good 4K'ed us at 3 gens.

This guy did not chase anyone to down. He just played with hit & run. He was keep controlling map and his pressure was pretty strong.

Maybe i felt like that because this guy was playing him with different way, idk. But i believe people need to give more time to this killer before judge his power.

To be honest, I wasn't a good Singularity for the larger part of the day either. Probably still isn't, but at least baby-survivors aren't running circles around me anymore. More importantly, I started enjoying the trials regardless of their outcome once I figured out how to use it's power for my preferred playstyle.

It's inspiring to hear some can even make the control-approach work. Maybe I'll also get there once I get used to monitoring the entire map without getting disoriented. In the meantime, Hux is Clown MkII. Good enough for me.

I may even git gud with him in the future, but not regretting the purchase anymore (like I did in my first 4-5 Hux matches) is good enough.

  • It's description doesn't even mention the honk on direct hit. Otherwise everyone would know how op it is.

  • And yet when I hit play, I get four survivors. Are you sure the entire role is dead and it's not just you who failed to adapt?

Sorry about the forum, we'll go back to reddit once the api protest is over. :P

  • They probably don't have enough wood.

  • But... what if the facecampers decide to counter the change by playing normally, so they git gud in the process, and kill-rates in general start to raise? They'll nerf killers! The End is Nigh!

  • I don't have too many other tools for expressing respect to a survivor. Approving nods may not convey the right message during sacrifice.

  • 16 meter happens to be Kindred range. When I camped for pressuring the team instead of securing a kill, I wanted them to come for rescue, so I was already aiming to be outside of that.

Not that I regularly see Kindred in trials anymore, but it's lovely that I don't have to learn a new distance to keep. :]

  • I've never seen Bubba as survivor.

    He's always the killer.

  • It's been a month now..

Anything a simple Bubba can do to help being identified?

  • I unequipped Insidious today, so my Bubba is more visible.

    Hope it helps.

  • The Hellpriest is anything but toxic. Quite the opposite. He's a truly altruistic being who only wants to share the greatest pleasure he ever experienced - only that happens to be eternal torture.

  • Not much. I personally never had a full 5 stacks, but it's really only icing on the cake. I usually only keep 1-2 stacks until the end of the match, and I still find it very good. Two stacks are already stronger than an entire Thanatophobia.

  • You are still wrong about it.

At least about it's spelling if nothing else.

  • Bubba happy.

Bubba bought more killers to play with until it's Bubba's turn.

  • Yup, also an Epic user with linked account.

  • I wonder if they checked for the missing shards in the basement.

Maybe they don't dare going down there with all the enraged Bubbas around.

  • The basement. That's the lowest you can go.

Kinda baffled how much people are losing their manure over this. You literally don’t need to do anything. You can play the game, you can play other games. No action from you is required.

Simple patience is too much to ask for I guess.

The thing is... On the 25th I was sitting on 3k shards and a million BP ready to unlock a new killer and it's teachables. And I still do, just my burning passion got reduced to warm embers. And somehow the taste the Leatherface-events left it my mouth doesn't motivate me to take the matter in my own hands and just buy some content.

Patience is fine, but I hope so is venting and expanding the Bubba megathread.

  • All the Insidious patience-training is now paying off.

  • I wonder how many of us who still missing the shards are EGS users.

Based on my preconceptions of these companies if Bhvr has to get Epic to do something, I wouldn't expect the compensation to arrive this year.
