The difference is you are literally going out of your way to be a dick to a player and basically tell them after waiting in queue for so long you dont get to play the game.
You don't have a reason to tunnel other than you are upset and think you are "teaching" them a lesson.
Waiting in queue for so long?
Ok, how about being a Killer and waiting 11+ minutes for a queue, logging in, and having 3 gens pop in the first chase?
Oh, but that's fine, because it's Killer. No one cares about the Killer's fun.
I'm not going out of my way to be a dick. I'M PLAYING THE GAME EFFICIENTLY, the EXACT same as genrush Survivors. I don't HAVE to let Survivors walk away. I don't HAVE to ignore the wounded Survivor because 'boo-hoo, Killer mean!' and it's a god damned JOKE that Survivors keep thinking it's fine to genrush as Survivor, but mean to tunnel as Killer.
There's a reason I call 'Tunneling' 'Survivor-Rush'; it's to make people realize THEY ARE THE SAME THING.
Genrush = Doing gens as quickly and efficiently as possible. Ending the match quick for the poor Killer who waited 11 minutes to get into one.
Tunneling (Survivor-Rushing) = Killing Survivors as quickly and efficiently as possible. ending the match quick for the poor Survivor.
Do people freaking GET IT now!? If tunneling is unfair, so is genrushing.
Of course, no Survivor will EVER agree, because they want matches to end FASTER. They whine about NoED & 'doing bones takes time!' while also whining that 'Tunneling (Literally the killer equivalent to a genrush) is unfaiiiir! Punish theeeemmmm! Whaaaaa!'

you're actually totally right. Im gonna change it right now XD
I mean, it was a neat idea, but since perks don't exist in a vacuum, Decisive & Adren kind of make it OP.
-
No.
I'm imagining that I slugged someone because they have Decisive, but then they have Hope as well.
Oh look; Killer can't do anything to actually stop the Survivor from getting away now because Survivors now have yet another escape for free perk.

You must get a lot of DC's in your killer games.
I don't actually tunnel that much, unless they are healing under the hook. That is THEIR FAULT and I don't have to let the people get away. But of course, if Survivors don't get to escape and heal for free, it's tunneling.
@Nicholas said:

That goes without saying but there's a term for it, and it's called tunneling. The point I was making is that OP situation is not tunneling, and I think some Killers like to pretend that that's really tunneling. Like why some survivors accused the killer of tunneling even when it's not. And LOL, Gen rushing is not Survivor tunneling. Survivors have to complete generators, if not they regress and then all of that progress is lost. If you don't tunnel a Survivor, it isn't like their previous Hook is undone.
Nono. TUNNELING is 'Survivor-rushing' since it's the Genrush equivalent for killers; It's doing your objective as fast as possible, which means attacking the wounded person.
And again; so many Survivors stomp onto the forums 'I was clearing my 3rd gen in 20 seconds and the Killer hooked me and tunneled me! It's SO UNFAIR that the Killer can play efficiently! They should be punished for not ignoring the wounded Survivor! I deserve free healing after an unhook!'

"Chasing Survivors isn't your objective"
Chasing Survivors is my objective, because it is the only way to hook Survivors. That and grabs, but you can't win on grabs alone. So chasing is my objective.
Dude. Just ignore @Alphaphalt He's clearly trolling. No one with even half a brain could equate a gen kick to a sabo, and he'll do any sort of half-assed mental gymnastics to keep being right in his head.
-
@Nicholas said:
I think a lot of these topics are only trying to undermine what is truly tunneling. I've been tunnel, I've been unhooked and the killer will specifically and exclusively chase me down even when there are other people trying to direct his attention away. So yeah there are people who will be accused of tunneling even when it's not but there are still very real situations when Killers unnecessarily tunnel.
You're wounded AND you've already been hooked once. You're the easier prey. You're the quicker kill.
This is literally what a Killer's goal is; TO KILL.
If genrushing is fine, then Survivor-Rushing (Tunneling) is fine. It's the Killer's objective. People need to stop complaining that the Killer is being efficient.
-
The whole point is that the grind is slow, and later challenges are impossible.
This 'encourages' you to buy Rift skips. I mean, no one is FORCING you, but if you really want to get everything, you will all but have too.
That's the point of the setup. Every company with a battle pass or some form of monitary skip does it.

Okay megamind. You are no longer allowed to pressure event generators because they're limited time for bonus BP. Are you seriously suggesting you want to be a twat who will deny someone bloodpoints?
That's what I thought.
Because kicking a generator does not stop Survivors from immediatly repairing it, unlike sabotoging a hook?
It's almost like the two things are in no way related.
...megamind.

Must be bad luck on your part, I have yet to see any survivors OR Killers DC yet and I have played quite a few matches.
I've had Survivors DC every match. At least 1.
I played as Myers (no meme built. Just normal Myers)
Freddy (no chains)
Plague
Trapper
Ghostface
And at least 1 Survivor each match as just bailed.

I guess you have stats to base your assumptions on...
Play a match. Watch youtubers play; every match is 3-5 minutes these days.
Now look at every nerfed Killer; every one had some form of map pressure or perks/addons that could slow down the game.
NOW look at every perk or addon of Killer Survivors whine about: Again; it's the ones that can slow gen repair speed, or apply map pressure. Nurse was just beat to death. Legion was turned into a complete trash joke. Yes, he had bugs that needed fixing, but it was not bug fixes that turned FF into a power that does nothing. Spirit is being looked at for having map pressure. Hillbilly will be 'looked at' soon..because he has map pressure.
Survivors also whine nonstop about the Freddy addons that slow down the game. They also whine about NoED because, of course, they want to do gens in 3 minutes, ignoring bones, and not be punished for it.
Survivors also claim genrushing is fine while Survivor-Rushing (Tunneling) is unfair. They outright believe that doing 5 gens in 3 minutes is fine, but a Killer going after a wounded Survivor needs a punishment.
The Survivor bias is insanely obvious. Doing gens fast is 'just gameplay'. Killing Survivors fast is 'unfair', 'unfun', 'cheap', 'needs a punishment', etc.
And every time the Devs completely slaughter a Killer to ensure this status quo, they are proving that they feel the same way.
-
@White_Owl said:
You designed a killer that performs their job well and thats........bad?
Would you say the same if survivors overperformed in their job? I think not.
Overperforming is bad in a pvp game, which ideally should be as balanced as possible.
Survivors already overperform. It's called 'genrush'.
Matches should not end in 3-5 minutes. That's barely 1 minute per hook attempt. But the second a Killer has enough map pressure to stop the genrush, or has any addons to slow down the game the Killer is OP or 'unfun', the addons are OP or 'unfun', or the perks are.
It's kind of a joke, how badly the Devs are nerfing viable killers while ignoring the underlying problem of gens being done way too fast. It's why I'm convinced there's a Survivor bias; because genrush exists while any Killer who can do anything about it get beaten to death with the nerf bat.

Nobody is forcing you to pay money for cosmetics and lore, lol.
The level 3-4 challenges should be, you know, a challenge to complete. Maybe not things you can just roll over in 1 game while barely trying?
Kill 3 people with NOED doesn't even sound that bad, you could get that done in a couple games max. And you would even be excited to get gen-rushed! Sounds like a great challenge to me.
No, no one forces you.
They just make every other option less appealing so that buying their solution seems like the better idea. It's a tried and proven marketing tactic.

Killers: Have to equal the power of 4 Survivors.
Survivors: OMG! Killers are OP! I can't win 1-on-1!
Killers: We have to equal 4 Survivors. We get stronger as Survivors die and it becomes a 3/2/1-on-1
Survivors: I know! Survivors are so UP!

i think that 'interactive' part of killer powers are what take them down. Killers like plague, ghostface, trapper/hag, and demogorgon whos powers can be negated by survivors are what affect their viablity. Killers should be able to use their power without worry of survivors always negating it in my opinion as they are supposed to be the power role.
This. This exactly.
Looking at Ghostface should not turn off his power. Maybe the person looking at him cannot be stalked, but he should stay in stealth.
Plague's power is dependant on Survivors cleansing. No cleanse, no power.
Trapper used to be okay, but now it's too easy to see & track his traps; 2 perks plus map (item), plus maps they just stick out on.
Hag, at least, needs a sharp eye & a finite item.
Demo would be fine if his unused tunnels still showed nearby Survivors & he could teleport to any tunnel from anywhere. As it is, he has Trapper Syndrome; he takes too long walking around & setting up. That crap DOES NOT WORK in the current 4-minute-Genrush meta.

Yeah it is kinda strange to me that the devs would rather hold peoples hand instead of challenge them to be better at the game. But who knows, maybe they will turn a new leaf
Maybe. But there's 4 Survivor purchases per Killer purchase for a full match, so don't hold your breath.
I mean, I'll gladly eat crow if the next Killer's power is in no way controlled by the Survivors. Unlike Plague, Ghostface, Demogorgon...
-
Do you think the Devs honestly care?
The game balance in this game has swung in such a way that Survivors are outright bragging about DCing, bragging about trolling, and some firmly believe Killing survivors too efficiently is 'a douche move' and 'unfair'.
The Devs will continue to listen to every Survivor complaint and beat 'too good' (read: decent) Killers into a coma, then eventually buff them back up.
...Eventually. I mean, Trapper never got a buff at all..and Legion is still an utter joke..and every Killer recently has weak, Survivor-biased powers and cooldown bars...But eventually someone may be buffed.
..Maybe. If Survivors allow it.
-
'There's only 4 of us! Our addons should be as powerful, each, as the Killer's! Anything else is a disadvantage!'
You do realize 1 Killer = 4 Survivors? And this means, as he kills you, he seems to get stronger as your overall team gets weaker.
This is not a reason to ask for every survivor to be as strong as the Killer.
-
She does not need a tell when phase walking. This would completely remove the ability to mindgame someone and pretend to phase walk.

You must be a rank 20 killer if you have to tunnel 1 dude in order to get a single killer while the others escape. And like I said, I totally understand why they tbag you at the exit.
Also the killers goal is NOT only to kill, its to pip aka to please the entity
Rofl. What is the state of this playerbase, or the forums, when doing my role is 'playing like a douche'?
How up your own ass do you have to be to think 'The killer should be punished for killing me too fast' is a legit suggestion?
I'm done. It's clear you two can't think of anyone but the Survivors. if a Killer is t-bagged or verbally harassed for doing bad? Fine with you! T-bagged and verbally harassed for doing TOO GOOD? Fine with you!
If the Devs wanted Survivors to be safe from tunneling, Survivors would be invincible or invisible or move faster after being unhooked.
But it's clear you guys can't see past your own noses. YOU think it's unfair if a Killer does good. Nevermind the completely terrible genrush meta that forces killers to go for easy kills. Which means hitting that wounded guy if they can!
But that's not the SURVIVORS fault for bringing 4 toolboxes. Or the games fault for not having longer gen times. It's not Survivors fault for being toxic douches in endgame chat, forcing killers to play harder to avoid hearing 'ggez' and 'noob' again. Noooooooo.
It's KILLERS fault for PLAYING TOO GOOD. πππ
How stupid.

I'm a killer main who doesn't rely on picking on one person to win lmao. There are 3 other survivors. You keep twisting my words because I never said you couldn't kill, I said it's a douche move to go after 1 person because they can't participate in a match like everyone else if they're being tunneled. I guess I'm the bad guy for wishing other killers wouldn't pick on 1 single survivor, I guess that's why survivors actually have fun against me :(
And if I don't tunnel that 1 dude, 4 escape because I spread the damage around too thin to kill anyone in the 4 minutes before the match ends. It's the fault of the genrush meta; I don't HAVE THE TIME to be nice if I want even one kill. And then I get 'ggez' 'scrub' 'noskill killer' vomited at me by the Survivors. WHAT FUN FOR ME!
But of course; who cares about the Killer's fun. Only Survivors matter. Make Survivors invincible for 20 minutes after unhooking! Take away the Killer's BP if he camps (this was suggested last year)! Make him move slower if he camps or tunnels (also suggested last year)!
Christ! I don't have to play by your made up rules because you think it's unfair you died first. My goal, as Killer, is TO KILL. If I see you injured because your friend was stupid, I don't HAVE to walk away and let you heal. MY GOAL IS TO KILL EVERY ONE OF YOU BY ANY MEANS AT MY DISPOSAL! NOT HOLD YOUR FREAKING HAND.
if you can't accept that the Killer's goal is to win, maybe a PvP game is not your speed.
This is called 'DEAD BY DAYLIGHT'. Not 'Not At All Dangerous Haunted House Simulator'.
it's fine for Survivors to genrush, but if a Killer 'tunnels' (You could call it Survivor-Rushing), OH NOE! EVIL KILLER! Only SURVIVORS are allowed to be efficient!

Because you negated all the fun for one person. You are keeping them from participating in the match. Tunnel the "weakest" if you want but that just shows you're a bad killer as a good killer can get kills without ruining someones gaming experience. I'd love to see your dc count
Btw I play mostly killer, rank 7, don't need to tunnel the unhooked survivor :)
@IronWill said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/803003#Comment_803003
Yes, a killers goal is to kill but also to pip and by tunneling 1 or 2 ppl for whole match, you most likely won't pip. Also you destroy the fun for the tunneled guy. If you hate tbagging and dont want people to tbag you, then maybe start being better than the tbaggers by NOT acting like a douchebag yourself (food for though)
So actually achieving my goal of killing people is 'being a douche'.
Whatever. Apparently trying to win as a Killer is wrong and evil and trolling and being a douche.
The freaking brains on some people here. 'Actually killing us quickly is UNFAIR because we want to win!' JFC! The Killer wants to win, too!
And with the ######### genrush meta, he has 4 minutes to kill 4 people. So he's probably going to have to use methods you biased Survivor mains don't like. LIKE FRAKING KILLING YOU!
heaven forbid a Killer does his goal. That's unfair!
-
A Killer's GOAL is to remove players form the match.
Are people saying it's unfair for a Killer to be as efficient as possible, so the game should punish a Killer for being good?
Is it unfair for a Survivor to use a toolbox or gang up to pop gens as efficiently as possible?
Of course not; it's only wrong if a KILLER is efficient. it's not fair if a KILLER does his NAMED JOB and KILLS PEOPLE!

It's not unfair. It's the game!
Is using a toolbox to more efficiently do gens unfair?
is 4 people working on 1 gen to make to pop faster unfair?
NO! SO WHY IS KILLING THE WEAK GUY UNFAIR!? IT'S WHAT KILLERS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO! IT'S IN THEIR NAME! THEY FREAKING KILL!

Teabagging and flashlight spam don't completely remove a person from the match, tunneling a survivor does. You keep that survivor from getting any points, gens, anything
...A Killer's GOAL is to remove players form the match.
Are you saying it's unfair for a Killer to be as efficient as possible, so the game should punish a Killer for being good?
Go to Overwatch and say 'It's unfair that the other team kills me. When I'm waiting to respawn, I'm not playing & earning points' You will be laughed off the forums.

You're the wounded prey. The unhooker either did not let the Killer get distracted or far enough away. That's not the Killer's fault, so why should they lose BP?

I'll accept tunneling -points if Survivors get points removed to teabagging after dropping a pallet, teabagging at the exit gates, flashlight spam...Should I go on?
Survivors are just as toxic, so don't act like this is a Killer only thing. I get flamed in every match for my Killer choice, my perks, my addons, my playstyle..
If I found someone who was healing BY ACCEDENT; I'm tunneling.
If I grab someone off a gen; it's being a troll.

Sky beeing the limit is the problem. People want a balanced, competitive game. But then there's that gamebreaking "sky is the limit" killer. For real... where is the problem and why does it need balancing.
Lets not conclude all kinds of conspiracy theories. I'm curious what they have in mind with Spirit, but if they raise the skillfloor only, i'd be fine with that. And powerfull killers are still powerful. Billy is a staple. Hag got buffed from trash to viable to toptier. Huntress toptier as always. Spirit got buffed from good to toptier. Now lets see what they want to do first before jumping ship.
After what they did to Nurse, I'm really worried for Spirit. She's a mindgame Killer; if you out-think the Killer, you win.
But since so many Survivors don't want mind games and want to stick to pallet games, she will be 'looked at'.
My guesses?
- She will be given a Wraith-like shimmer while moving, so Survivors know where she is at all times.
- Her husk will lose it's collision, so she can't body chokepoints in a chase.
- There will also be a sound effect when she goes invisible so she can't trick Survivors by faking. Gotta remove all the mindgames that Survivors hate!
No, she will not be given anything in compensation. Spirit players will have to get good.

Stop victimizing yourselves so much. It looks pathetic.
Old Legion had his bugs, but you can't think current Legion is at all decent. His power is a flat out joke. You can't even stop people from mending because the mend timer does not decrease in a chase. And pressuring people in increments is useless because the mend timer will not down them if they are mending.
He may as well not have a power.

Concrete answers for concrete questions.
You dont hit your blinks, since it only affects misses. Mistakes. Your own mistakes, that you can fix by getting better.
You dont want to balance this game for bad survivors, but apparently you want it balanced for bad nurses.
Just fyi, i doubt anything changed balanced wise about her as along as you're good with Nurse. They only raised the skillfloor. Go figure why you're triggered.
Oh, Nurse may have needed tweaking, sure. Her Skill To Kill Ratio was pretty much 1/1. The better you were, the better you did, and the sky was the limit.
But this is more proof of BHVR being terrified to make good killers; New killers start weak. Powerful Killers get beaten to death with the nerf bat under the terms 'tweaked' and 'looked at'.
It's pretty obvious that BHVR wants to keep the larger playerbase happy, and since there 4 Survivors to every Killer, this means that Killers get beaten stupid to appease lower skill Survivors.

Oh yes, because being able to actually catch up to someone once every 5 seconds is balanced. Taking away half of the Nurse's power without giving her ANYTHING in return is balanced. What a joke.
'Git gud'; the cry of the entitled player. I can tell how happy you are that the Nurse is basically unplayable now. I bet you're getting ready to scream about Spirit now. It's never you being bad; it's OP Killers. Just scream louder.
Christ, if ever there was proof of a Survivor bias, it's the Legion & Nurse 'tweaks'. BHVR took 2 powerful Killers and ensured they can't hurt anyone now.
It's okay, bad Survivor mains; if you whine loud enough, BHVR will completely slaughter whatever Killer has a greater than 2/4 killing average. You never have to actually improve. BHVR will keep lowering the bar so even the worst Survivors will be able to bully whatever Killer they want.
Might wanna work on a Killer bot program, because if you keep beating every good Killer into a coma, no one will want to play that role anymore, BHVR.

According to the devs on the latest stream they believe chases should essentially start over after getting a hit to give survivors a chance at escaping. What this does though is give bad survivors who didn't use counterplay an easier time, while also making though who do actually know what to do nigh impossible to find again without dedicated tracking perks and even then there is no guarantee they don't just disappear in the maze of L-walls you now have to crawl around because blinking would screw you over even more.
I've actually seen a way better suggestion on these forums for a continuous power-bar that charging a blink draws from instead of just a discrete cooldown mechanic. It would allow for a much finer control over your blinks while also not coming with the massive downside of making your gameplay all janky and frustrating. It also still limits her from doing a crazy amount of blinks in a row, a much better scenario than what we have.
That did not really answer my question in a concrete manner.
Did they, seriously, nerf her Blink this badly AND keep her as one of the slowest Killers in the game?
Even the Devs can't have said 'Alright; you can't blink even HALF as much as before, you can't go through walls on a second blink, and you're still slower than the Survivors. BALANCED!'

If it's a challenge where you can't have anyone else doing the gens... then how would they expect anyone to get it done outside of SWF?
They don't. They pull you in with easy challenges that make decent Rift progression, and then they throw these impossible challenges at you.
The point is that you feel invested enough in the Rift and frustrated enough with the BS Challenges and the 1 Rift Shard every 800 XP to buy Rift skips.
It's all made to manipulate you into spending more. π€π€π€π€π€

Am I reading this right? The nurse now has a cooldown (which starts on fatigue), which means she has the longest possible time between blinks..and she did not get a movement speed increase?!
Did the Devs really think, in the middle of the freaking 3-minute-genrush meta, that a slow AF character with a 4.5 second cooldown (3.5 on the skill, 1 for the fatigue) is BALANCED!?

lmao more like killers blame everything but their skill for losing so all they do is cheese hooks and camp. gen rushing doesnt exist git gud
Rofl. Typical Survivor reply 'Nothing a Survivor does is bad. git gud. Also, stop cheesing hooks'
Sorry, Killers are not here to hold your hand and give you free wins. Git gud.

I don't think they were saying that alot of killers don't need attention. They're saying you might just not have the skill to play those killers at the higher ranks. I don't say that to be mean. I'm a terrible killer. I agree with you that lower tier killers need help. I just don't think they're as unplayable as you make them out to be.
As a side note, Pigs traps should definitely not auto arm for egc. The timers too short for that to be remotely fair.
Fair enough, and the EGC timer can slow while the trap is on the Survivor's head, like when a Survivor is downed/hooked.
The Pig needs SOMETHING. She has 0 end game power as she is and very weak map pressure because her traps are niche and limited.

The problem lies with the devs themselves for not balancing the length of the game and how quickly gens currently go, which is amplified if the killer doesn't have Ruin. Ruin is a problem. The time it takes for gens to be completed if you go hard on them is a problem. The fact that the vast majority of killers, regardless of how well they play, cannot play aggressively in the sense of "Hook this person, chase another" mentality that top tier killers have. If you do, you will lose every single time. So you have to proxy a hook, or use them as bait. You can't go off on a hunt with BBQ, or do a lot of things. You can if you want to just have fun on a killer you enjoy, but you won't win or anything.
What's amazing to me is they've never even acknowledged that it's a problem.
My theory is that DBD grew too fast.
The team tries, that much is clear, but it's also clear that it grew too popular, too fast.
Now, they need to add a new killer, and a new chapter, and a new survivor, and the perks need to be workable (and that's 3 or 6 perks, sometimes more, per DLC) and they need to ride the momentum, so they can't balance properly. And needing to crank out more and more and more means they can't polish it as much.
I don't want to see DBD fail. That would mean people's jobs. No way I want that. But I do wish another game would come along. Maybe another game in the genre would take some of the pressure off BHVR. Or maybe it'd allow them to announce Dead By Daylight 2; on a new engine and more polished than DBD.
I also wish someone would buy the Planetside IP. :P DBD and PS2 are 2 games that are VERY niche.

Funny, I'm able to play all killers perfectly fine, seems like a you problem bud.

Iβve been playing low tier killers at rank 1, I donβt see your problem
Ahh, the ol' 'I'm fine, so who cares about anyone else?' comments.
Since you 2 are fine, clearly no fixing needs be done. People just need to get on your level. Damn!
Stop all discussion on balance! These two people are fine playing the game! 20/10! Perfectly fine for these two people! Absolutely no one else matters!
I mean, this is the balance every PvP game strives for; being fine for these two people. BHVR has done it! Congrats, BHVR!

Do I think its challenging? Yes
Do I think it should be challenging? Yes
Do I feel some certain people can't hack a challenge and thus choose to whine and complain about it? 100%
Is my terminology somewhat toxic? Possibly, although its not meant to be inflammatory way and I also think people need to get a grip around this too.
Heaven forbid it be made less challenging, right?
You can do it, so screw everyone else?
Or is it that you might not feel as special if it's made easier so more people can succeed at it?
There's 'challenging' and then there's '#########?'. Now if these were just optional 'I did it!' challenges; fine. Make them freaking hard as balls.
But these challenges lock out the lore people were excited for.
They ALSO reward Rift points. Which are used to advance in the Rift.
Oddly enough; you can also PAY to advance on the Rift.
Now BHVR is not the first, nor last, company to do it, but whenever there's a rward that you can earn or BUY, companies make the EARNING of said reward a long, slow grind or put it behind things incredibly difficult so that BUYING it seems like the best option.
So you can see what it looks like now; challenges so effing hard that you'd rather just buy the next level on your rift, rather than fight for those 5 Rift Shards. IE: Challenges so hard, they 'encourage' you to buy the Rift skip. (Quotes used because it's just a step shy of flat out paywalling the content.)

No. The last thing I want to see is a Survivor or Killer doing a fortnite dance. It does not fit in this game.
Hell, the game started with 0 voicecoms and 2 emotes. Why? To promote a scary atmosphere; the Survivors were too scared to make a sound. Sounds could lead the Killer to them.
Of course, then came SWF and using Discord so... π€·ββοΈ
