Then you WANT to tunnel at 5 Gens. And then you get a long stun. Which would have been totally avoidable. Easy as that.

    Pipe dream....not happening!

I'm going to tunnel, then you're going to come to the forums and cry because you can't handle it. That's what is really going to happen.

    lel.

No Gens done and you already have some pressure because you got someone on the Hook, so two people not doing Gens at this point. Three, if you manage to get into another Chase.

"Sometimes you need to tunnel at 5 gens."... thanks for the good laugh.

What I decide to do as a killer is my decision. Survivors don't get a choice. Live it with. Keep dreaming these silly dreams.

You only get the 10 second stun if you tunnel at 5 Gens. Dont tunnel at 5 Gens and you wont get a lengthy stun.

Is it really that easy? Yes it is.

Sometimes you need to tunnel at 5 gens.

You are obviously upset and worked up. Your agitation does not help your argument any. You posted 3 posts now, that haven't added anything to this discussion. I'm completely uninterested in continuing this.

    Obviously I'm worked up...haha

Good then don't continue it. I do hope you improve your in game skills and maybe you'll see what everyone has been telling you for a while now.

    Enjoy

  • I did, you're saying Killers shouldn't be able to do their objectives by focusing on a single part of their objective at once. This is the most one sided opinion ever. If you slow down the killers objective, the survivors objective must be slowed down too.

Your reasoning is because you don't like like it. You say 80% of the game population doesn't like it....which i disagree with massively. I would say the low MMR people...bottom 25% don't like it because they don't know how to handle it yet.

The argument that you are unhappy because you arent getting better and cant escape the killer isnt valid. Get better and youll find a lot more success.

This ad hominem indicates to me that you are losing the argument with me. Instead of making a valid counter statement, you are attacking my character. Since I don't play the game anymore, this statement is nonsense.

How are you not understanding the objectives of the game?

This kind of came out of left field. Again, an indication to me that you are losing this argument.

Are you saying gens should take twice as long after 33% and 4 times as long after 66%?

Another statement that comes out of nowhere. What are you even talking about? I never once mentioned gen speeds, so I'm really dumbfounded by this statement. I'm really curious where you got this from.

    ---

    Why should it be harder?

You could have left off the other 3 statements because they had absolutely nothing to add to this entire debate. I'll answer this one because it's a valid question and I should have explained myself when I said it.

In my personal opinion about DBD game design, I think it would be healthier for all players if it was more difficult to "tunnel" someone off of hook. My reasoning for this is that reducing the number of survivors to 3 is too rewarding for the killer player, compared to how easy it is to accomplish this. Reducing the number of survivors to 3 is so rewarding, it causes killer players to tunnel. If it was harder for killers to remove a survivor quickly from the game, then the killer would try to play for hooks rather than play for kills which, again, in my personal opinion, is more fun for both killer players and survivor players.

Survivor players, which is 4/5s of the player base, as a whole, don't enjoy a killer tunneling them. You can look at the vast amount of forum threads and see this. Killer players, seem to have more fun when they are playing for hooks over kills. So again, my personal opinion, game health as a whole would improve for both sides if it was more difficult to tunnel survivors out.

This are my thoughts on the game and I sincerely doubt this will ever happen because the developers would have to rebalance both sides.

Reducing the survivors is the entire objective for the killer.

Saying those points I mentioned aren't valid....is very confusing since were talking about objectives....Survivors being killed as quickly as possible(Killers sole objective) and generators being completed as quickly as possible (survivors objective). If you slow down killing the survivors, you MUST slow down the survivors ability to repair generators. That's just fact.

Talking about Winning/Losing an argument on the forum means you have nothing constructive to add or don't have a response to what was said or asked. I don't care about the argument...I care about you beginning to understand the game which is clear you don't. You seem to be under the impression that arguing on the forum makes you a better player...this also is not the case.

Saying I am attacking your character while giving you advice is so immature. Stop playing the victim on the forum and go play the victim(survivor) in the game. I promise....if you put effort into the game, you will get better. Tunneling wont make you cry anymore once you understand how to beat it.

Your argument means nothing because it is entirely based on your feelings being hurt because you aren't skilled enough to complete the match.

It doesn't matter if you don't enjoy it. Its part of the game. Remove or put artificial invulnerability trash in place will make the game impossible to play. The killers wont play killers and you will have hour long que times.

I've been playing a lot of survivor lately and have NO issues...i repeat...ZERO issues when being tunneled. Sometimes I win the chase, sometimes I don't win the chase. Its part of the game...part of the fun.

    Your feelings don't matter.

  • Maybe no Generators....just a last man standing type of game mode? Could help with people trying to learn how to loop and win chases without the added complexity of other objectives.

It is very dependent on health states, that's why killers do it. It's twice as easy to down a 1-health-state survivor over a 2-health-state survivor. In reality, it should be harder to tunnel out someone just put on a hook, not easier. The reward for tunneling someone out far out-weights how easy it is to do it.

    Why should it be harder?

Are you saying gens should take twice as long after 33% and 4 times as long after 66%?

How are you not understanding the objectives of the game?

That's why I prefaced my post with, equally skilled players.

Tunneling-at-gen-5 is way-way easier than looping. Looping is an extremely high-skill tactic. The better a player is at looping the more they are rewarded, this applies to both killers and survivors equally.

However, tunneling-at-gen-5, is extremely low skill. Here's why, (barring the 10-sec Borrowed-Time).

    1. The survivor starts with 1 health state instead of two. (You can't say it's easier to chase a 2 health state survivor over a 1 health state survivor)
    2. The survivor has no speed burst from getting hit like a 2-health-state survivor.
    3. The killer can place a survivor in a dead-zone, completely negating looping.
    4. The unhooked survivor is half as strong as a 2-health-state survivor.
    5. The survivor is easier to track because of blood.
    6. The survivor is easier to track because of sound.

So playing the 1-health-state survivor requires a much-much higher level of skill than the killer who is tunneling. The survivor is highly disadvantaged while the killer is at a high advantage.

I would say the skill to tunnel-at-gen-5 a survivor requires less than half the skill it takes to chase a full health survivor. This is because the killer has the advantage of placing the survivor in a dead-zone. As a survivor, you can't even loop if a killer places you in a dead-zone.

You say easier, I say more efficient. Also the chase doesnt depend on health states. the number of gens doesnt matter either. Tunneling a player at gen 5 is the same in skill as tunneling at gen 1.

  • @Wezil said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3223789#Comment_3223789

If you are responding to me...

What I am saying is that it is easier to tunneling-at-gen-5 a no-anti-tunnel-perk-survivor than it is for that survivor to escape. The skill required for a killer to tunnel-at-gen-5 is much much lower than the skill for a survivor to escape tunneling without anti-tunnel perks.

With equally skilled players, a killer should only get 0-1 kills for tunneling-at-gen-5, because tunneling-at-gen-5 is extremely low skill. It requires no effort to pull off but greatly rewards the killer player. The reward does not justify the skill.

You're still making the skill argument which goes both ways. If the killer can easily chase down a survivor while tunneling, then the survivor lacks the skills to escape or prolong the chase. How can the winner of the chase have LESS skill in the chase than the loser of the chase?

The survivors get pallets, flashbangs, flashlights, quicker vaults, can crouch in brush or hide behind objects, can cross paths with other survivors which throws off following tracks, ect.. The killer has to constantly cut off the survivors movements, try and force the survivor to vault through an unsafe opening, drop pallets at the wrong time, or slide across pallets at the wrong time, has to follow the right tracks, avoiding the flashlights and flashbangs. Then when the survivor is down, has to find a hook that can be used, avoid body blocks and flashlights/flashbombs again, make sure the hook they are using isnt being sabo....all this before getting a hook.

With a skilled survivor, the killer has to have just as much skill to get the kill.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349764/what-do-you-think-about-tunneling

Tunneling like you've described is the one thing I loathe running into as Survivor and one thing I actively try to avoid doing when I play killer. I'm not above hitting off-hook given the opportunity since it delays their re-entry into the game by however long it takes them to mend (and possibly for my ahead pop kill as Pig) but I won't go out of my way for it.

I don't want any survivors to mend when I play killer, whether i'm tunneling or not. Just like survivors don't want me kicking and regressing their gens.

  • Think through the map and get better at chasing survivors.

Once the pallets are dropped and broken, the survivor has permanently lost that area to call safe. The first couple chases should break a good amount of pallets which allow you the opportunity to get them mid or late game much easier.

If they are running from pallet to pallet, the survivor has learned the map well and knows which areas to run to in order to find a pallet. The counter play is to know the maps yourself, and break pallets in a series of short chases with different survivors, moving them off gens, so you gain a bit of advantage back. this will remove pallets from the game, move the survivors off gens, and allow you some gen regression. Once you have an area without pallets...any chases in that area are much easier.

  • The survivor can also become really good at chases and out maneuver the killer...be skillful with looping.

The skill it requires on the Killers part is to chase and beat a good looper quickly. If it takes too long, the other survivors will knock out the gens and the game is over.

You're making the argument that survivors shouldn't have to use perks or be good at the game in order to win. Thats such a silly argument.

I certainly do. Even on these forums you see constant complaints. But on platforms like reddit, from what I have seen, it's even worse.

I love how you try to make it about people's skill level. The big problem with camping and tunneling is that it's beyond unfun to go against. Who wants to "learn" how to play against something like camping and tunneling? People just leave the match, understandably, and perhaps just switch to another game. Some people clearly have stopped playing the game considering the noticeable increase in killer queue times.

I am more of a killer main but still think camping and tunneling are beyond cheap and bad for the game. And as far as I can tell, many people that play both sides think that.

You asked who wants to learn to play against strategies and tactics of your opposition? Everyone should want that. That's how you win.

You aren't going to win a single match complaining on the forum.

That's such a silly thing to ask....you have to learn to play the game in order to be good at it. You want to win by game design changes and not by actually being good at the game. Such an entitled attitude.

Also, playing against a killer tunneling is quite fun. I enjoy it.

Your claim that it is unfun is not a fact....that is your opinion and does not speak for everyone.

I gave you arguments for several points you made in your post and you read the first line of my post and deemed it as not worthy of reading. I gave you situations to show you things aren't always black and white which is why it isn't fair to say it's a skill issue. What you presented to me was things that happen in an ideal game with working, proper MMR which this doesn't have, or playing SWF, which not everyone does. I say it's nasty because not everyones FIRST instinct on this topic should be "Oh it's a skill issue for sure", because most of the time you get put in a situation that doesn't even care about your skill to begin with.

I said nothing is guaranteed or %100. A survivor should not expect to walk out of the match every game just like a killer shouldn't expect 4k every game.

If tunneling is a constant problem every game and the person has no relief, then yes, it is most definitely a skill issue. Learning the game will provide for many escapes.

I must just be the luckiest person in the world. Somehow I manage to escape 50% of my games as survivor...even with tunneling and camping happening.

Players want to feel like they are good at the game instead of actually being good at the game. Some of those people want the game to be changed so they can appear to be good due to game design features that force them to look good. Thats the most ridiculous notion a PvP game could imagine.

  • @manutheserg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222653#Comment_3222653

I said it's nasty because frankly it is. People refuse to see both sides of the situations surrounding playstyles on this game and always chalk it down to skill issues when it isn't even that to begin with. To push off an actual issue in this game and regard it as a non-issue that goes away the second you "git gud" isn't even something that should be normalized. Every single game has quirks, every single game has it's balancing issues, and to push the issues under the bus isn't benefiting anyone whatsoever. Everything you stated here is something that I already do on this game, I throw pallets down strategically with consideration on if I want to come back to it later. I also try to take bodyblocks for survivors coming off hooks. However, I cannot control OTHER people bodyblocking for me when it comes to solo Q. I cannot control which pallets other people throw down in solo queue, or duo queue. You say teammates can take hits, bodyblock, use flashlights/flashbangs, but I want actual factual information for how many people in solo q actually play this way to begin with, because I can GUARANTEE you it isn't a lot.

I have over 4000 hours in this game, so I'm by far not new. And still, no matter how much game sense I have, no matter how much I know the maps, no matter what perks I'm running, if a killer wants me dead, almost every killer can tunnel me off the hook and get away with it due to the powers that they have. You say deathslingers can be dodged, but that isn't good enough. Not every deathslinger is going to mess up a shot around a very tight loop. I also mentioned SEVERAL other killers that can all counterplay against you in the situation of being pulled off hook. So again, you say that camping can be countered so I want to know what exactly can be done to counter camping REALISTICALLY in a Solo Queue/Duo Queue environment. I know not to dive into the hook if someones being facecamped 99% of the time, but can I say the same for the others who ultimately get paired with me that play like bots and hook dive anyway and essentially throw the whole game, therefore dropping my MMR even more and putting me against more and more killers who do this at 5 gens?

You say you are tired of whining and complaining about things being unfair instead of how they can get better, but you also fail to see that not every situation is a situation to grow in, like it sounds like you are saying. There is no potential to grow when you personally have done everything that you can to deal with camping/being tunneled and you get no help whatsoever due to solo queue teammates. You may say it's expected to blame your teammates at that point, but I think a killer can be blamed aswell for the way they choose to play right off the bat when a game starts. You yourself even say "I'll camp and tunnel when I need pressure...etc" yet they have people out here who go into a match with the expectation already set to sit here and tunnel every single person off of the hook.

Sorry if this comes off as passive aggressive or anything. I'm just tired of having played this game for this long, for the last 6 years, and everyone always says it's "Your fault" for being tunneled, for being camped. I don't tunnel survivors willy nilly when I play killer, and I certainly don't blame the survivors lack of skill on a reason why they would be tunneled out to me. Sure I might say because it seems like they were the weak link, but most of the time it's because they are already injured and in a good position for me to down them. I've had actual killers call me trash because they went out of their way to chase me through 2 damn people to make sure I die. It isn't always black and white. You have these 5 criteria to be met on if a killer can tunnel you or not when half of the time (More like 75%) it just WORKS. Everyone always says "Oh just do gens to punish them" As if that logic actually makes sense in solo queue. Do you know how little I see people actually punish killers doing that when they play this way? Again, everything here is from solo/duo queue perspective.

So ignore my post which was to help you or others in understanding what can be done and just attempt to make me out to be a villain still.

You wonder why people just say "get better" or "increase your player skill" and leave it at that? Your response is exactly why.

They don't do it to be nasty. They do it because the people complaining don't want help. They just want to feel like a victim and blame others because they suck and it's too much effort to actually get better.

Tunneling isn't just for the weak link. Alot of times it's to get rid of the strongest link which affects the survivor team the most. Taking out the weak link has a smaller impact.

That's another decision. I personally tend to take out the threats first. The flashlights, the flashbangs, the people who put themselves in my way.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222303#Comment_3222303

This is what confuses me about this type of argument. It's almost as if you're rubbing his face in your argument and being very nasty about it, because this isn't the first time you've brought up "Skill" or learning a proper "Counterplay"

What does this even mean? Outside of running Off the Record, what do you even mean counterplay? This is what I never understand about people who advocate for tunneling and camping. It's a conundrum, you people say to get better at the game against a playstyle you can literally do NOTHING about 99% of the time besides running one particular perk. Where is the performance here? What is there to exactly grow off of here? There is no skill involved. If a Deathslinger for example decides to tunnel me off of hook and by chance he hits me with his spear and waits out the rest of the borrowed time, that isn't my fault. That isn't anyones fault and to say "Well you could've just outplayed it" is pure ignorance. It's the same with Nurses who can eat your borrowed time and insta blink 2 seconds after that ontop of you, the same with pyramid heads who can follow you close by with M2 and just wait for the proper time to actually use it whether it's a pallet or a vault, it's the same as a blight who pulls the exact same move off as a nurse. I keep seeing all these people say it's a skill issue all snidely but MAJORITY of the time, it's people being put into situations they can't do anything about because they are A. Already Injured, and B. The killer is hot on their trail following them and just waiting out the few seconds that they have to possibly reach a pallet, that almost half of the killers in this game have powers to counteract.

Lets start off by saying its unappreciated that you automatically assume I am being nasty.

This game involves a lot of skills, and decision making. Countering Tunneling can be done by use of perks and items, teamwork if your team is playing well together, or by actual skill in the chase.

You've already seem to understand some of the perks you can carry or your teammates can carry to help with it so Ill skip that.

Teams can body block for each other, take protection hits, sabotage hooks, flashlight or flash bang the Killer, or as previously stated; use their perks to help you.

When someone talks skill against tunneling, they are usually referring to the chase and getting good at looping, spinning, using pallets at the right time, jumping in and out of lockers, flashlights, and vaulting ( I may be missing others). Winging the chase when you don't know the maps well doesn't usually work out for too long unless the killer is equally unfamiliar.

Once you know the map well, you can have a plan in your head for the path you wish to take in the areas you know you'll find pallets and obstacles to loop around or vault through. This is where decision making comes in. You have to decide when to drop a pallet when you're looping as to not waste it early. Then know not to return to that spot expecting the pallet to be there.

The longer you can prolong the chase, the longer your teammates can sit on generators. When you're really good, you may be able to run someone around long enough to get them to quit chasing you entirely, or all the gens will be done.

So Tunneling only works when the Killer can 1) keep track of the previously hooked person 2) can hit that person without hitting someone else who is blocking 3) can only hook the tunneled person if the hook is operational, close enough, and not being blocked by a crouching teammate 4) can catch the person the killer is chasing 5) the game hasn't ended because the survivors were too skilled at out maneuvering the killer.

I can tell you I'm not that great at the chase yet, but I am getting better and better every time I play. Being tunneled by Killers is part of what is making me better.....out of necessity. This is all part of the game.

As far as your specifics, Death slingers can be dodged. I'm not saying you're going to be able to dodge it every time, but I do 75% of the time.

Nothing is guaranteed. But learning the skills necessary for the game will make tunneling less of a threat and more of an asset for your team to give them the time on generators without fear of getting caught out.

Another part is when you are too willing to run up to a hook to rescue a teammate with the killer standing right there. What do you expect is going to happen?

They aren't going to die right away....so if the killer is camping, do a gen until the last second and rescue then if you feel its worth it. Otherwise, thank your teammate for their sacrifice and escape with 3. I'd much rather escape with 3 than 1 through a hatch or none because you felt you had to save the first guy on his last hook.

When I play killer, Ill camp and tunnel when i need pressure and the survivors are out playing me in chases or around the generators. Most of the time, they will all come to save their friend(the bait) which pulls them off gens and gives me some free shots on survivors to soften them up. from there, I can start regressing gens, forcing them to use pallets I can break and soften the map to be more killer friendly for chases later.

The point is, you cant start playing a game and expect to be amazing at it right off the bat. There's a lot to learn and the things you may think are unfair now, wont seem so bad after you've taken the time and put in the effort to learn the game. I'm still learning.

I'm also tired of all the whining and complaining about things being unfair when their New Threads should be asking questions on how they could get better.

    baby rant time

They literally don't know how to loop. It's so annoying. Why do I have to loop the killer the entire game and or get tunneled just in order for us to win? How do you have 2-3k+ hours played and can't loop? Or if the killer gets on you, you die within 10 seconds of getting hit? It's like a domino affect. The killer finds someone and hooks them. The killer finds someone else while other guy gets unhooked and healed. In the progress the killer kills someone while the other survivor is getting healed. Other survivor gets healed when another guy is hooked. This is what is irritating me. Yes I know not every game is going to have people who can loop or just distract the killer for a little bit, but like come on. Out of 100 games I would say 4 of those games someone knew how to loop the killer. And no I wish that was an exaggeration.

baby rant over feel free to hate on me in the comments for what I said

It's because all the people you get on your team are too busy here on the forums complaining about tunneling.

They don't have enough time to complain AND work on their looping...

Very true. I mostly play survivor and sometimes when i get a TTV killer i check out their stream and they actually have viewers who seem to encourage this and want it to happen. Killers believe they have to tunnel to slow the game down, and its just not true. I've never had to do that. Many times a killer will ignore me repairing a gen because they're tunnel visioned on a survivor, and they let me do the gen. Its such a strange thing to do. They basically throw their own game and hope to get a few kills at the end by hook traders and so on. It's just bad play.

I want certain gens on a map to be repaired...I'll only defend the 3 that are the closest together. Giving me easy patrols in short amounts of time. But I'm sure your mega mind reading skills are good enough to determine what your killer was thinking.

  • @JayDoesGames said:

Its odd because good killers like Scott Jund or Otz don't need to tunnell. It's sad that an abuse of a mechanic is becoming the norm, but BHvR are trying to fix the issue. It is. When the clear, vast majority of the community complains about tactics like camping and tunneling, because they are beyond unfun to go against, then those tactics are clearly a problem. Games are meant to be fun, for as many people as possible.

This game isn't only designed for people like you lmao.

I don't see complaints from the vast majority of players. Just the survivors that either can't or refuse to work on increasing their skill level to counter the killers play.

When you say it's not designed for people like me...are you saying it's not design for people who play both killer and survivor, and don't need to complain about strategies or tactics employed because I can counter at any time with my own tactics and strategies?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222366#Comment_3222366

The killer can still down them. Thet takes 30 minimum seconds away for a start. Then healing is another 20 seconds, if they even can heal.

Whats the difference between this and what it is now when you dont tunnel a survivor? Oh yeah...nothing. Its literally a failsafe to protect against tunnelling. That survivor is doing the actions another would be doing, except that 2nd survivor isnt doing those actions because theyre in a chase.

You're adding the extra stuff to make it seem unviable. Its not. You just want to argue because as someone else said, you CLEARLY have a bias in all this. And if you think i have a bias, go read my old posts where i am complaining about survivors.

I play both sides, and its quite evident you do not.

So it sounds like you want a guaranteed generator for each time someone is hooked. You're not trying to increase your own skill.

You want to win by game design.

Also I do play solo que exclusively as survivor. Pretty often in fact.

Thats not how it works on other PVP games i play. I dont know any other pvp games i play that rewards this type of play. None others reward ruining anothers experience to the point they cannot do anything about it.

Get camped in a shooting game? You respawn elsewhere

Get camped/focused in an MMO? When you respawn, there are various entrances to go out and avoid the camper.

Get camped in dbd? Pray the others on your team find the balls to help you, if not, bye, enjoy your 800 bp

You don't get to respawn in dbd. That's the point of the game. You get one life.

Noone is ruining your experience more than you are.

You are making yourself so worked up over nothing. Literally all in your head.

  • It's easier said than done at first.....but ignore the BS teabagging and let them show their insecurities.

Once you find the right killer and learn the techniques needed, you will begin bullying the bullies using tactics that will bring them to these forums complaining about you. Trust me...look at all the hilarious threads about tunneling...lol.

I, as well as all other killers were in your shoes. It does get better....especially if play for your own fun and don't worry about the people you're trying to kill.

Good luck and and I hope you find your groove.

I never said they couldnt do actions? I just said they couldnt be picked up. So idk where you are getting all that from.

I'm adding all the extra stuff. Otherwise having invulnerable survivors running around able to play unhindered would end the game in 5 minutes and the killer would never get a kill.

So tell me if you paid money for a video game, and the AI continually killed you over and over everytime you respawned you'd give that game a good review and say it was worth your money?

This "people can play how they want" argument is the dumbest thing ever. Maybe i want to play the game how i want to play and not have to deal with small wanged morons thinking getting a 4k in a game is the most important thing since they first found out what lubriderm was.

That's the nature of PvP games. Been that way since PvP began. It's competitive in nature and "winning" is important.

What winning constitutes in dbd is very subjective. Some people may think a 20k BP game is winning regardless of kills. Other think 2 kills is winning regardless of BP. Still others may require 4 kills to call it a win and will accept no less.

    Very subjective.

I personally call it a win if I get 2 kills and hook the survivors at least once.

Not all survivors play as a team though unless in swf. Which is kinda important when you're playing a video game that revolves around team work.

Absolutely accurate. Not a question...I agree with this.

So you need to blame the other survivors for their failures as teammates and not the killer for doing his part.

The killer doesn't know if the survivors are in voice...or which survivors are matched together.

Same can be said about tunneling and camping players out of a game early. I play how I wanna play not how killers want me to play

Teabagging is not an objective. Killing survivors is an objective. That's the difference.

Either way, you're free to teabag....I just think it shows more about your lack of self control and anger/stress disorder than anything else.

    Learn to counter.

Tell that to solo survs who know when they do counter, they are at risk of everyone else abandoning them on hook and thus they do it themselves. Tell that to the 2 man groups who when one is hooked, the other tries to save and the other 2 survs do nothing.

You act like everyone on the surv team are 4 man swfs on comms. They're not.

For most solo survs, if you "learn to counter" you are the one dying while the others get out. Thus your MMR goes down while theres go up, then you start thinking #########'s the point in countering, i may aswell play everyman for themself and hope i get the hatch.

I only play solo que survivor when I play survivor.

I get camped and tunneled. It's part of the game. It has made me better at chases, looping, flashlights, pallets, ect...

Getting mad at the killer for doing his part in the game is not going to make me a better survivor.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222304#Comment_3222304

So would it be justified to hop into the next match against someone who is perhaps less skilled than me and start teabagging at pallets and flashlight clicking?

Why would you ever teabag ? That just shows your lack of respect and/common courtesy to other players.

Again your talking about teams so right then and there the rest of your words are falling upon deaf ears. 8 times out of 10 these superaltruistic teams are a SWF in which you may need to camp or tunnel but I don't care about that. I am talking about LOW MMR. Solo players and the new girls and guys. SWFS aren't really complaining about camping or tunneling because with the right strategies and comms they can negate that

All survivors are part of a team...whether they are in voice or not.

Well let me ask you a question. What if you found yourself playing solo q with crappy teammates who hide in lockers or corners and the killer decides to tunnel you out or camp you starting from the 4th gen and you played 20 games and in 10-11 of those it happened religiously and you left the trial with 4000-5000 BP. How would that make you feel?

I'd move on to the next match. If I wasn't having fun I'd do something that was fun.

You have the power to choose to play games that you find fun and not play games that you get stressed over. It sounds like this game may not be good for your mental health if you get so worked up over losing due to lack of skill.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3222275#Comment_3222275

You wanna know why? Because gen rushing is no longer a common experience. Period. End of story. Gen rushing, for the most part, tends to happen in high MMR. Gen rushing is reserved for some of the sweatiest SWFS and something very rare to see in low MMR where there lots of new players and solo q's. Tunneling, on the other hand, has gotten much MUCH worse. And it happens no matter the MMR. It's becoming very problematic for solo q and newbies, not so much the SWFS because they have something that alot of others dont: Conmunication.

Not true...gen rushing happens frequently....but as a killer I don't care to complain because I can camp and tunnel to draw them off gens since most teams are overly altruistic.

Lol there are plenty you just choose to ignore them. I've been on the forums on and off for quite a few years now.

When what shoe is on the other foot?

You aren't making much sense. You sound like a drunk Yoda reading a proverbs book.

  • @Konnor24 said:

I agree with all points and have seen/suggested/endorsed each one over the years when i have seen them posted.

My personal own ideas for tunnelling and camping are more drastic because it happens so often to me now its just killing the game for me. I play because my friend plays and thats it.

1 - Make it so the last person who was hooked cannot be picked up for 120 seconds after being unhooked. Can still be downed but just cant be picked up. If the killer stands around slugging then thats 3 gens that can be done in that time. Added on the time it takes for the chase, it just would not be worth it for killers to do this to get a "win". The only value to this is toxicity. Which wot be erradicated. If someone plays to be toxic then they will be toxic no matter what.

I also like your idea of collision detection being turned off for it. It would stop survivors abusing

2 - For camping, If the killer is within 16-24M of a hook, action speed is doubled for each survivor on a gen. Only 5-10 seconds after the person has been hooked of course.

Killers should also be rewarded for going after different survivors and as you stated, a base kit dying light would be good. Its not powerfully game changing and it addresses a problem so many killers have been complaining about for years. Also, more BP/bonus BP for freshly hooked survivors.

I dont like the fact survivors can get so many uses out of flashlights or toolboxes either. The bully squads who spend all game following killers around saboing hooks and blinding makes killer horrible sometimes. Would suggest hooks take longer to sabo the more you do, and after 3/4/5 blinds then the killer is immune to being blinded.

Like i said, all of these are quite extreme, however for me its gotten to that point now where the milder approaches havent worked and the game is losing more and more players and not gaining as many new players to replace them. Compared to 8th october 2021 this game has almost half the playerbase currently playing. And in the 5 years i've been playing i have never encounted it so much. I posted not long ago about the amount of face campers and got told im making it up and people claiming they never see camping, only to come back everyday since and see a new topic about camping and tunnelling every single day.

So the last person that is unhooked is invulnerable for 120 secs. That means they can't run, can't do gens, can't heal, can't do or take any actions to benefit their team either to include take hits for teamates.

Well if killers learned how to mind game better and stop whining about sweaty swfs and gen rushing they wouldn't have to cry about it in the forums 😂 see my point? You played right into that

I haven't seen any posts about swfs...or Gen rushing....yet there's plenty of posts from survivors whining about tunneling.

Keep whining about tunneling....make it more amusing for me.

Played into what? You stated non-facts and made no points sooooo....

That is 100% false I win atleast 4 out of 10 games with a 4k and I never tunnel players because I understand the frustration behind running around with a kick me sign on my back the entire games and it blows. It really does. Getting tunneled and camped at 4 gens and leaving the game with only 4000-5000 BP in my opinion after being in a 4 minute queue is a waste of time

That's your choice. Stop acting like a snowflake and let people play however they want within the rules.

Learn to counter and maybe you'll be less whiny on the forums.

  • @JohnnyB87 said:

Just make the Endurance effect last as long as it's duration. Makes the killer have to work for the tunnel and definitely would prevent it. If a survivor can take multiple hits, then what point does the killer have to tunnel, cause he's just letting gens get done otherwise.

There is no tunneling solution, because tunneling is not a problem.

  • So far it's clear nothing happens with a report, clear video evidence and clear admission.

I caught my killer(went to survivors stream) and one of my teammates(streaming on twitch) coordinating with each other (killer on chat survivor talking on stream) and against his teammates. Reported both, linked the stream(which is available to watch still on his channel) and nothing has occurred.

To this day there hasn't been a break in either of them streaming dbd on the same accounts.

No point in wasting your time...the game doesn't seem to care.

im not here to farm im here to play as "killer" if one dc's im gonna end this game as fast as possible so i can get into a "good" game. just go stand in front of the hook and ill put you up really fast and get us all able to move on with our day.

    Yep...this

It actually is considered very toxic, even with killer players.

Not from the players I see posting.

There are killers that will say that sometimes just so they dont have to argue with the SJS (Social Justice Survivors) here on the forums.

The fact is its nothing more than whiny survivor mains who are mad that their lack of skill or planning causes them to die early in the match.

Ill stop tunneling when ALL Survivors do all gens to 33%, then all gens to 66%, then all gens to 100%.

You cant have it both ways. My objectives are not for a survivor to manage.

Edit: if you're not having fun playing survivor because the killers dont play the way YOU want, Go play a killer and do it the "correct:" way in your opinion.

  • @Wezil said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349764/what-do-you-think-about-tunneling

You should have said "tunneling-at-gen-5", because that is generally considered bad manners and toxic. Tunneling is perfectly fine in other situations.

Its not considered toxic....even with 5 gens. Nothing about tunneling is toxic. Tunneling is a made up term survivors use to try to shame killers to take it easier on them.

  • @HagAdamMain said:

Tunneling is why I wish Decisive Strike wasn't nerfed so hard, a lot of killer players will tunnel because they want to kill the survivor player faster but it makes survivors miserable or just give up when they just got off the hook only to be chased and hooked again before they can get away and heal up.

Basekit Borrowed Time and Off The Records do help but some killer players will just wait them out or keep chase until the survivor runs out of pallets. I think tunneling Killers should get a penalty for chasing a survivor that was just unhooked within 60 seconds or something.

If they do that, then survivors shouldn't be able to work on a generator while injured.

Irrational penalties for survivor bad plays should be met with irrational penalties for survivors too.

  • @Laluzi said:

I love this idea! I'd totally use it. I think being able to give bloodpoints would be nice as well. Different players may not care about their stocks of one of these things and want to give them out, while wanting to maintain the other.

As others have said, I'd like if the thumbs up button did something positive for that player, on the caveat that you can't thumbs up people you queued with. Getting thumbs ups could reward small amounts of bloodpoints or shards, or getting very large amounts of thumbs ups could unlock charms or cosmetics. Possibly there could even be unique rewards for getting rated up as both survivor and killer so that survivors don't inherently have an advantage to in-game like collection.

Could be something simple like a visible icon showing you've reached a certain benchmark of positive comments in games with other players. I do like the idea of players gifting BP, shards, or cells to others as it would be player driven. I'm always a fan of player driven mechanics and with this intending to reward and bring positivity to the community it makes it even better.
