It's been a serious problem. Any amount of gen's left, but only 2 survivors remaining. The two survivors will hide, and refuse to do gens. Just to have a chance at getting the free win from the hatch. Taking the game hostage, or until the Killer finds one of them.

Just played in a match for 2 hours, simply because I had nothing better to do anyways (so I wasn't forced to DC). Wanted to see how long it would go for, and when I could actually find one.

@Peanits Any dev's want to explain to me again why adding the hatch to stop players from taking the game hostage was a good idea even in the first place? Because imo it did nothing but cause players to take the game hostage anyway they can for the easy/free win.

Happened to me on Ormond. Losers couldn't even own up to what they did. "We were trying to find the hatch but we just couldn't do it. We had a key and everything," they said. They urban evaded around the map and Sprint bursted away every time I found them due to AFK crows. After 30 minutes of this they flash light clicked on the hatch and fast vaulted a nearby pallet until I cam close enough to see them use a key, tea bag and escape.

  • I think the issue is how shallow the game is. Objective one is do gens. Objective two is survive. So, do gens and hide. A boring game for both sides, especially if the survivors are good at hiding and they all hide. If survivors had a requirement to interact with the killer, like another objective that somehow involved the killer more actively, or do things that gave the killer guaranteed chances to find the survivor the games would be longer, more deep, and require survivors to have skill in looping and chase. Also, bodyblocking is toxic and against the core of the game. Protection hits are different, but still scummy.

I second what Starboard said. If survivors are sabo'ing hooks or bodyblocking and you know the survivor you're carrying is going to struggle out you can just drop and slug them. It still creates pressure for the survivors, and you can usually get some free hits/downs out of it since dropping a survivor only takes a second. Knowing when a survivor is going to wiggle free is just something you have to feel out with experience.

A few days ago I had a Blendette sabo 2 hooks while I was carrying a Kate. I knew the Kate would wiggle free so I dropped her, got a free chainsaw down on the Blendie, hooked her, then picked up and hooked the Kate the second her hook respawned.

Conversely, while there's no excuse for survivors being toxic, protecting their teammate from getting hooked is good gameplay. Don't let it get you tilted.

Also keep in mind that every time you drop and pick up a survivor it fills up about a third of their 'wiggle meter'. Seems like you were doing a lot of that and it definitely wasn't helping you.

And of course if body blocks are something that especially irritates you you can always run Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, or Agitation. I recommend Agitation above the others. OhTofu (a popular DBD streamer) runs Enduring on a lot of his builds specifically because he hates getting pallet stunned. There's nothing wrong with using a perk slot for QOL reasons.

I seem to have failed in describing the situation well. They had a rotating body block strategy with no visible work around. Dropping isn't a viable counter. I also don't have an insta-down like Billy. I have to build mine up from stealth, which they denied me at every turn.

Welcome to the reality of the game - good survivors will win.

I understand that now. It really does come down to waiting for mistakes, finding the weakest player, and hoping your perks work out. If not you lose no matter what.

I feel you, but that's fine! You're not always going to know if people are waiting to body block. Think about it this way, though. Let's say a Nancy pops out of nowhere and takes a hit while you're carrying someone to a hook, and someone else runs up to either body block or sabo the hook. If you drop the person on your shoulder and chase one of the blockers, it will take the other one roughly 30 seconds (depending on healing speed buffs/debuffs) to heal the slug to full, and that's if they start the second you begin your chase with Nancy. Let's assume you get your second hit on Nancy right at the point where the slugged survivor gets healed to full. Now no one is going to be in position to body block and by the time you hook the Nancy at least three survivors will not have touched a gen.

There are other things you can try and this isn't the only right play, but I try to just take the game one decision at a time. If you make more good decisions than bad ones, you usually do okay :)

I probably wouldn't recommend running Iron Grasp because it's pretty weak. Agitation and Mad Grit should already be more than enough to make it to the next closest hook if they bodyblock and sabo the one nearest to you, even with hook spacing offerings. You could try a build like that, though, especially if you're playing a killer with a strong basement game!

You don't understand the scenario. I appreciate your replies but they aren't applicable to that specific situation.

One person body blocks the only way to the hook. Two wait under hook. As I hit, the injured person switches with a healthy person from under the hook. If I drop and chase they heal the downed survivor, if I come back and pick up before that happens they can still body block one more time, letting them go free. It is not a counterable situation.

  • Bane of the Brave

The anit-bodyblocking perk we all need.

Level One: Survivors taking protection hits are afflicted with deep wound and are oblivious. Continues until healed by one health state.

Level Two: (Keeps the effects of level one and adds a new effect.) A survivor downed while afflicted by Bane of the Brave basically suffers from the knockout effect but it doesn't wear off until hooked or picked up by another survivor.

Level Three: (Keeps the effects of level two and augments level one.) Just adds blindness on the initial protection hit alongside oblivious and deep wound. Also continues until healed by one health state.

I wouldn't sweat it too hard; just try to make a good play in the situation. For example, if you see that you're not going to make it to a hook because Nancy made you hit her, just drop the person on your shoulder and chase the Nancy. Slugging that first survivor still wastes their time. You can also try to mindgame a bit once you see they keep doing this. For example you could fake picking up the survivor and just listen for footsteps, if you hear something, leave the slug and take your free hit, then go back for the slug.

If you find this is happening a lot and you're really getting frustrated, though, you could always run Mad Grit!

Usually I would play like you suggest, but they arrived near the hook as I did from the garage with the car and pallet. I didn't walk into a bad situation, it happened as I arrived. Also, slugging doesn't work against teams like this. They just pick up the slug while you chase.

As for mad grit. I thought of running a build like Mad Grit, Iron grasp, Agitation, and Devour Hope to deal with squads like this, but I can't tell if this would be too weak or too strong.

  • Don't forget how loud he is. Good luck hearing footsteps or groans. That was my number one issue with demo. Second was his portals which suck so bad.

"toxic bodyblocking"...Yeah, Bodyblocking is "toxic" now.

    Just wait 15 seconds.

I get body blocked often and it is the only thing that infuriates me. Here's an example.

Be me on Haddonfield while carrying a David. Offering to space out hooks and offering for Haddonfield, of course. Nea and Jake under the nearest hook and Nancy blocking the only gap in the fence to walk through. Hit Nancy, she runs under hook and Jake takes her place, drop David, hit Jake, pick up David, Nea body blocks, David escapes. Get teabagged. Get body blocked several more times by healthy survivors in chase and get hooks body blocked by multiple survivors. I am Ghostface. Can't use night shroud when being chased and exposed constantly. All gens done, have one on hook. Bombed by three healthy survivors. Hit one, try to chase, Nancy crouches in a gap looking up at me. Hit her and she turns white, BT of course, watch as three escape. Nancy begins to run away. Count to fifteen and hit. Downed but afraid of DS, exit gate is close enough for her to crawl to. Stand by exit, pick her up at the last possible second, get DS'ed. 0k lol. Free escape for poor tunneled survivor. Get flamed.

GG EZ. Baby killer. Git Gud. Ur trash. Uninstall. #########.

Survivors can break the game by simply deciding to do so. Then of course they complain when you tunnel the most toxic one out.

Like a Claudette who followed me around on Bedham, exposing me from a distance, flashlight clicking, and rushing in for flashlight saves on my downs. SWF of course, so chasing Claudette means 3 gens being done on the opposite side of the map while I chase. Eventually tunnel and face camp her out, team falls apart for the 4k at 2 gens left. This is the best scenario, but really, if we all played fair and right it would have been better for both sides, but some people are just gigantic C U N T S and that may be why I quit playing.

Leaving a lobby doesn’t prevent you from reloading back into that same lobby... you’ll have to be patient and wait a 30-45-60sec before readying up again, then you should get a fresh lobby.

I figured it was something like that, but it seems to be longer than that for me.

Also yell at your kids to get off of call of duty and fortnight. Then tell your wife to stop downloading her three favorite shows to her phone.

make sure to add in when yelling at your kids to tell them to get jobs to get their own internet service

Thanks, I didn't know this could help. What if I add in a few backhands?

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

I still get tons of hits through the pallets. It is as infuriating as it used to be. Nothing changed.

You gotta understand that it probably looked right on someone's screen. I see people complain about that in my games, but the hits look perfect to me.

Why are PC players on dbd so sweaty? Like, I thought us console players were bad but after playing against all these tryhard spirits, nurses and the race car bubbas I'm rethinking that. And jesus the amount of face camping and tunneling is actually UNREAL. And is it just me or do hitboxes just die between PC and console? Like, there are times when there is a whole wall between us or the killer just hits a wall yet it still downs me. And there have been other times that things should have hit but it didn't. Does anyone else care to share their crossplay experience?

It's just your experience. I posted about the opposite thing 3 days ago and no one agreed with me. In my experience, console players are super sweaty. Top tier items, perks, and solely focused on gens. Hide when in the terror radius and everything like that. I had to switch off crossplay because I just don't know how to counter gameplay like that. It isn't fun at all.

Genrushing + Hiding + 2nd chance perks + Awesome items = Impossible to me.

  • @YaiPa said:

devs are clearly trying to delete any kind of skill and power bending with killers. Examples are how they nerfed billy and nurse so that they can't use their powers both for map control and chase. This killer has to use his power only for mobility and chases are only boring M1 action, which is the saddest part.

Making a killer less powerful and/or more difficult means you need less skill to play them? Seems like the opposite to me.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

I'm 100% more toxic lately as killer, but not because of a lack of DC penalties, because I'm tired of facing red-rank-swf-squads as a level 12 killer. Its not fun, and playing meme builds (Which people think as toxic) and camping and slugging is fun.

Fix killers, fix match making, and you'll see less bull.

Same boat dude. Level 12 killer matched with players way too good for me plus SWF. Get genrushed. Get one, maybe two kills. Get flamed in the chat and comments on my steam profile.

  • Yay. Another survivor hiding the entire game so they can say, "GG EZ."

  • If you have played any amount of time as killer, then you realize that no matter what you do, you are called a camper and a tunneler. Survivors are giant, abusive scumbags 50% of the time in my experience. Never once have I tunneled, camped, or done any other toxic thing, yet I get bullied in half of my games and flamed afterwards. Win or lose. DS is almost exclusively used in lockers. BT and body blocking are constant.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

The problem with DS is nerfing it too much will make tunneling as killer a lot easier.

    Rework:

    DS lasts for 30 seconds.

The timer slows down by 50% while in the killer's terror radius and pauses while in chase.

DS stays paused while in the dying state.

    DS can be used twice.

DS is instant, no longer requiring the player to hit a skill-check.

If the killer is currently in stealth and therefore has no terror radius, DS switches to a 32 meter range from the killer for the timer slowdown.

You just buffed the fucc out of DS with your rework.

I really like PainReliever's YouTube content, because it is clear that he thinks a lot about the game mechanics, and how everything in DBD works. Scott Jund is right up there too, for the same reasons. And @SpaceCoconut is quickly getting up there with them.

My favorite Twitch streamer would have to be Umbra, because she is down-to-earth and, for lack of a better word, normal (plus she's arguably the best Huntress player in the world).

I know guys like Otzdarva and TrU3Ta1ent are good players, and Otz in particular has lots of good YouTube content. But "streamer life" streamers who put on obnoxious heightened versions of themselves, and do awkward close-ups to mug for the camera, and overreact to everything... those people drive me nuts. I can't watch them for very long, because they are always going out of their way to be "on," and don't come across as their genuine selves. That is way more important to me than how good they are at the game.

(EDIT: Hey, post number 2,000! Go me. I should probably go do something productive instead of hanging out here all day.)

I wouldn't call Otz a "streamer life" streamer. That's just who he is.
