No. Just no. If I save a teammate from hook and they make it halfway to the exit before being downed they still deserve a chance to crawl out. If you want to block the exit gates there’s a perk for that - it’s called Blood Warden and can be very powerful.
-
I guess I think of “genrushing” as dedicating your build to getting gens done as quickly as possible. Doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen. Today I was using a commodious toolbox with scraps & wire spool for a grand total of 52 charges. I was running tier 3 Streetwise and Built to Last (to get the most out of those charges and increased speed) and tier 3 Inner Healing (for a quick heal that can happen while I charge my toolbox) and tier 1 Deja Vu (for an bonus 4% speed and easier way to find gens.) That’s what I would call a genrushing build and in some of my games I was able to do them very fast but in others I wasn’t because of circumstances. If I wanted an even better genrush experience I could’ve swapped out Inner Healing for Prove Thyself but I wanted an ace in my sleeve in case of injury. Now if someone called me a genrusher because of this build id agree. I was prioritizing my objectives mostly because lately I’ve played with many who simply did not.
-
They should implement a feature where you can skip purchasing certain ones unless they’re in the same path as something else you’re trying to get. If I get down to the last 3 items and they’re all crap why should I be forced to spend my BP on them? Give me a small BP penalty to just let the entity finish them off.

Yeah weirdly Ace has almost no Halloween related cosmetics aside from that one, hopefully he gets one of those skeleton shirts this year!
He’d make a good pirate if they wanna give him a costume!

Theres a lot of variation for me so it’s hard to tell; I wish they’d add in-game stats that show these rates for players. The other day I did 6 games as Laurie and survived 1 of them. Yesterday I did 5 games as Yui and only died in 1 of them. Some days it feels like it’s 50/50, some it feels like I can’t survive at all, and others it’s better. As someone else mentioned though I also tend to play very altruistically especially during endgame. I’m always willing to sacrifice myself if it means someone else will escape especially if the killer gave them a hard time during the game.
-
I usually only start waving around when no one is trying to save me especially when the killer isn’t nearby. It’s my way of saying what the heck are you guys doing?! I’m dying here! I’ve hit second hook stage (or just plain died) so many times because ppl are either sitting on gens or doing god knows what.

Yea, it’s so cool! I need the Disco’s Dead one too for Halloween!

First of all, don’t feel bad for making this post. It’s okay to vent out your frustrations when people are being unnecessarily cruel. Secondly, don’t focus too much on the toxicity lest it overtakes you. It’s not endgame chat that’s at fault here - it’s the people that abuse it. I play on Switch and I wish we did have the chat. I know there’d be toxic ppl there, but I can’t tell you how many times playing both sides I’ve wanted to talk to my co-players whether to thank them for something, congratulate them on a really cool play, or just connect and explain or find out what was going on when something crazy happened. I guess my third point is: for all the toxicity and general nastiness out there don’t forget there are still nice people who are just wanting to have fun. I wish I could help spread some of that positivity.

Does he come with The Mountain?
-
I could be wrong but if a survivor is in the dream world they’re already oblivious and can ONLY hear your lullaby in place of a TR. So Plaything would only be effective if they’re not asleep?
-
I honestly think if they’d just make Bite the Bullet work when you’re being healed as well that it’d be perfect.
Other survivor perks I’d like to see changed:
Blast Mine/Repressed Alliance/Potential Energy/Wiretap/any similar perk: assign a different key to each perk when used in conjunction so that they can actually be used in conjunction.
Potential Energy: either change the conversion rate to be the same or change the loss of tokens from skill checks or part of the loss from being injured.
Wiretap: change it back to 33%
Circle of Healing: reinstate the self-care aspect but at a penalized speed like current Self-Care
Botany Knowledge: remove the medkit efficiency penalty and simply make it so the speed boost is inactive when using a medkit
Calm Spirit: remove the interaction speed penalty for chests and totems
Clairvoyance: remove hook auras
Corrective Action: gain a 1/2/3% speed boost when at maximum token capacity
Decisive Strike: either remove the conspicuous actions penalty and just put it on a timer or remove the deactivation from exit gate activation
Empathy: gain a 1/2/3% healing speed bonus on injured or dying survivors
No Mither: start the trial normally and become broken upon taking damage
Pharmacy: because medkits were nerfed so was this perk so either add a 100% chance for green or higher add-on and a 50/75/100% chance for an additional add-on of green or lower OR provide a medkit efficiency and speed bonus of 40/50/60% when injured
Poised: also grants a 15% haste for the same duration
Quick Gambit: allow the effects to linger for an additional 15 seconds once out of range
Red Herring: gain a 5% repair speed bonus for the duration of the cooldown
Residual Manifest: make it override blind immunity
Rookie Spirit: gain a token for every regressing generator you completely repair up to a max of 5. Each token grants your exit gate opening speed by 3%
Saboteur: don’t trigger the cooldown until a hook has been successfully sabotaged
Self-Care: revert the speed penalties to 35/40/45%
Spine Chill: remove the clear line of sight bonus and replace it with a 3/4/5% to the same actions when within a terror radius but not in a chase
Technician: remove the additional regression
Visionary: change the overall cooldown to just 20 seconds and grant a 5% speed bonus in repairing only during the cooldown
WGLF: grant endurance to yourself as well but for half the amount of time

I just think it’s funny seeing people complain they’re getting stressed out when matchmaking because they could be going up against a SWF. Meanwhile, in solo queue as a survivor I have to wonder if my teammates are going to be doing anything at all and have absolutely no information on the killer or if they plan to play super aggressive and camp and tunnel at 5 gens. And if I do get killed early on I can’t look at the killer’s info to try and learn from their build or add-ons unless I want to sit and wait for the rest of the match to play out. Killers, imo, get way too much info already.

To be clear, I assume you're referring more to the accidental versions of tunnelling and camping via poor survivor gameplay? In the same way that killer's poor gameplay can make trials stall out, a survivor's poor gameplay could result in tunnelling or camping without the killer actively going out of their way to do it?
I'd say I don't think those two problems are necessarily on the same level, if so. When a survivor makes a poor decision, that's still giving their teammates and the killer more things to do in a general sense. If your teammate runs into the killer too soon, well, now you're doing something other than sticking on generators, because you have to go save them and then ideally take the killer's aggro. That's active gameplay, versus the five-gen-chase causing stagnant gameplay.
Similar for camping, if a survivor's making a mistake by looping around the hook, stuff is at least happening- though I do feel for the survivor left hanging there, of course. I like BHVR's proposed solution of giving the survivor Deliverance if they're stuck there too long, I think that would push things along in a way that doesn't completely neuter the killer.
If you are asking about intentional tunnelling and camping, my answer would be different, but I won't go into detail there so my response isn't too long lol
I was actually referring to them more in a general sense. People can utilize it at 5 gens for an easier game or during endgame to almost guarantee they get a kill depending on the mechanics.
-
This may be off-topic but I’d just like to get your opinion on this. You mentioned that looping for a 5-gen isn’t healthy overall but how is that in comparison to games that end abruptly for a survivor because of tunneling, camping, slugging, tombstone myers (which I’ve seen a lot of lately), etc.?
As a survivor, I can’t imagine giving up on a chase just because the killer is putting all their focus on me. Bloodlust will help that chase, but sometimes those games that go by without a single hook are due to bad gameplay and decision making on the killer’s part rather than anything in the game that’s broken. As a killer, I never tunnel or camp and know when to quit focusing on a specific survivor. On that note, there are times that it may seem like I camped or tunneled because the survivor/s simply made bad decisions or played poorly. This is true of me when I play survivor as well. Sometimes my game ends very early not because I was being tunneled or camped, etc. but because I made a terrible mistake or did something stupid.
Just to note, I am totally in favor of bloodlust, and I honestly believe a lot of the arguments we’ve seen against it lately is just people responding to the plethora of complaints about Made for This.
I guess my overall point is… there are plenty of things in this game that I believe aren’t “healthy” but that help one side get an advantage especially when they’re in a predicament ie infinite looping, tunneling…. So how do we balance between these things so one side isn’t favoring more from specific gameplay mechanics over the other without asking the other side to relinquish something?
For instance, bloodlust and window blocking exist not to help bad killers but to help them deal with looping which can be problematic - imo it does this without tipping things too far in the killer’s favor so that a skilled survivor can still gain an advantage without abusing the loop. So when it comes to something like tunneling, which I believe is an example of something that’s unhealthy, how do we create a mechanic to do what bloodlust does to combat at without denying killers their power?
I know I took this in a different direction - I just want to get some takes from people I believe are very level-headed.
-
I always thought of this perk as being useful in ambushing whoever is going for the basement item. Of course, that makes it pretty useless overall.
-
I think Oppression is fine, honestly. But your idea is pretty good too.

I started playing after the Stranger Things chapter was removed so I feel like I didn’t even see him for a long time, but he is one of my favorites. They tend to always be at the lower levels tho, so I haven't seen one in years (man that sounds egotistical af)

What killer bots?

@brewingtea said:
>Killers aren't getting replaced by bots.
I definitely think there could be different DC penalties for killer vs. survivor. Heck, if you get a DC penalty for survivor, I think you should still be allowed to queue up as killer.
However, if the killer DCs, the survivors get 7000 BP as if they had escaped. So, yeah, it "ends" the game, but it hands you a win on a silver platter! You don't even have to work for it!
So, I'm kind of anti-DC-penalty for killers, but for a totally different reason than survivors...
And if one or two survivors disconnect killers just got handed a much easier game.
I had a match today where literally 2 seconds after we loaded into Midwich the killer (Mastermind) disconnected. I didn’t wait through the loading screens and queue time just to get 7000 BP for doing nothing. I’m playing this game because I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME. I don’t care if Wesker doesn’t like Midwich - he deserves the penalty just as much as any survivor would because he’s robbing us of the gaming experience.
-
They need to be kept but they need to be reviewed. Sometimes you get disconnected due to internet or technical issues and that’s not your fault.

Singularity is very reminiscent of Virus (1999), particularly how it's a mixture of machine and human body parts and the way it speaks:

It's nothing like Alien.
IMO the chapter is similar to Alien because the two antagonists of that film are an AI and an hostile alien lifeform and Singularity is a combination of those two. The story is a space expedition that leads to a slaughter as the AI (which, in Alien, deems human life as nothing more than expendable) is “awakened” by some kind of alien form. I’ve never seen Virus so I don’t doubt the similarities but the End Transmission definitely gives me Alien vibes. Im not saying it was the inspiration or that they’re even incredibly alike but it’s what I think of.

you see, if people let go then it would look like the perk is a non-issue to devs, because there's no negative or any feedback whatsoever on it.
devs often tend to leave problematic things that aren't spoken of enough be untouched for a very long time because the community doesn't make it clear these things are a problem to them.
The community also has a bad habit of making a big deal out of anything they just don’t like whether it’s problematic or not. Hence your post. The devs do need to listen to the community but they need to analyze what people are saying rather than just look at how many people are complaining about a specific thing. I could make a thousand posts about things I don’t like and a thousand people could agree but that doesn’t mean those things need to be changed. No one is ever going to agree on everything. Deal with it. Made for This has not broken the game. Adapt and move on.

Tbh I never thought Trickster could be inspired by or related to We need to talk about Kevin, but now that you mention it, it's pretty clear. In all fairness, I haven't played much with Trickster yet and all I've read about him is his basic background (which is enough to see the relation).
Not entirely sold on the Artist, though. I saw Hitchcock's movie as a kid, almost 20 years ago, so I may not remember it very well, but the feeling I got from that movie hardly resembles the Artist's power imo, though I can understand why you think of it as an inspiration. I mean, yeah, they're birds, but... Nah, I can't feel it.
I haven't watched most other films you mention, so I can't comment on those. Skull Merchant does give some Predator vibes, while Singularity is much farther off from Alien imo.
What do you think about Hag, Huntress or Deathslinger? Is there any horror movies you think might draw inspiration from?
Not all of my examples are things I believe inspired the devs to make the killers. Some just remind me certain movies. I don’t think they took inspiration from WNTTAK but I think it’s cool the way they’re related and seeing Trickster reminds me of that movie. The same is true of the Artist. Im not saying they based her off of the Birds - although I do feel that movie is the God of bird horror - but she definitely makes me think of said film when I’m swarmed and being chased.

Lots of you guys are quite literally missing the point of what I'm saying with Survivor body blocking, so I'll put it in one sentence you'll all still misinterpret:
The recently UNHOOKED SURVIVOR being the body blocker is the problem.
No, we understand. The thing is, however, that sometimes you have to protect the one who just rescued you. I’d love to be able to just run off and get healed but most of my games are inhabited by camping killers. Teamwork means getting both of you away from that hook safely. Using my endurance to take a protection hit for my rescuer is risky because it means I’m canceling my chance of making distance before you can down me again, but I’m also potentially protecting a fellow injured teammate from trading places with me. You’ll never find me just running after the killer so I can use the endurance nor will I follow a killer who is chasing someone after I get unhooked. However, if necessary I will get in their way to protect my rescuer.

I think it's disappointing, but only in the "oh well" kind of way. This is what the Prime Gaming subscription rewards usually are, DBD was just well above the average in terms of quality for a while.
Side note, this is not a subscription that is paid for. Amazon Prime is a subscription that's paid for, and part of the benefits of Amazon Prime is Prime Gaming, and part of the benefits of Prime Gaming is a set of in-game rewards for a large number of games that includes Dead By Daylight. It's so far down the chain from the actual purchase that it's definitely not fair to consider it a paid reward. It's a freebie that came with a wider purchase.
You’re right; the paid subscription is for a plethora of things rather than just the rewards for this one game. My issue, however, is that Amazon itself is consistently getting worse as time goes by. From their customer service to the subsidiary benefits… it’s all just kind of meh. I know there are people out there who use Prime mainly for the gaming part, and a number of those people solely for Dead by Daylight so they feel it a little bit more. Me? I’ll happily take the free BP, but it’s still disappointing and it pushes me further into thinking that Amazon Prime just might not be worth it anymore.

I guess they could buff medkit heal speeds a lot or in other ways but remove the ability to self heal. It would make them more useful whilst not creating the self heal problem we had. If medkits healed others fast enough or enough times you could bring them and they would be a good item.
Wouldn’t that create almost the same issue that led to their nerf though? If they made them faster and more efficient but only usable on others then, yes, people probably will play altruistically but it’ll still be a lot of quick heals that denies pressure. SWF teams would benefit the most from that as well and they’re the ones who are least in need of any kind of buff.
I just don’t get why they keep the altruistic healing boosts and the self-healing penalties while changing the charges of every medkit. That way depending on the rarity of the medkit you can get more usage out of it but still get less if you’re using it for yourself. A brown medkit could be the same as it is now meaning it’s good for 1 full self heal. Give the yellow and green medkits enough charges for 1.5 self heals but make green have better efficiency alongside the speed boost for altruistic healing. That way those two are essentially the same for self heals but the green encourages using it altruistically (sort of how toolboxes encourage repair vs sabotage.) Then make the purple medkit enough for 2 full self heals while retaining the same altruistic efficiency bonus as the green. That makes it better overall but still incentivizes using it on your teammates. Furthermore, I’d even be fine if they made each higher rarity a slightly higher overall speed penalty to further discourage using them just for yourself since you’re getting more out of them. Keep brown at 33%, make yellow and green 36% slower and purple 39%.
I know many people will disagree but I think that’s a fair way to change things. We are still incentivizing altruistic healing without making different versions of medkits redundant, and, imo, making self healing an option without it being overbearing like it was before. I would even be fine with soft nerfs on some of the better add-ons so they can still be worth using with the better medkits without giving them too much power.

They COULD but they SHOULDN’T. I like map offerings. I don’t always play them but sometimes I’m in the mood for a certain realm or I want to visit one I haven’t seen in a while. I also like to play certain ones depending on the season. Around Halloween I like Haddonfield, Yamaoka Estate, and more and of course Ormond is great during Christmastime. I wish we had more maps for these reasons. I’m sorry you don’t like them, but it sounds to me like you just don’t like most maps in general and removing map offerings isn’t going to help you.

I'm in the same boat as you. I play survivor only every now and then and I rarely see Wesker at all. If anything, my most played against killers nowadays are Ghostface and Knight.
Ghost Face is probably the most occurring for me overall too. I love him to death but I do get sick of seeing him all the time so I understand how everyone else feels. I used to see Shape just as often but during the anniversary I only ended up with him once and he’s been rare ever since. Killers I see very rarely include Spirit, Clown, Twins, and Plague. I know Twins is incredibly unpopular for a lot of people but I am baffled about Spirit. She’s arguably one of the strongest killers if you know how to utilize her. She’s definitely one of my faves.

Maps are the most consistently useful item in the entire game.
Keys are still useful, but you can't go into games playing for hatch from the start. They have lots of other effects that are useful.
Alex's toolbox is consistently useful for sabo, it's literally never changed.
Flashlights have the same consistency they've had for basically most of their existence.
If you really needed 4 heals out of a ranger kit to have fun then you have different issues outside of item consistency.
I don’t necessarily NEED 4 heals from a medkit but knowing I have something to help me out of a tight spot enables me to play a bit riskier (or, more altruistically in this game’s sense.) I would not say maps are the most useful item as most people are already good at locating gens and totems. As for flashlights, try getting a flashlight save on the Switch. Not saying it’s impossible but it’s difficult enough I don’t even bother with them. Not to mention one of the most popular killer perks completely negates a flashlights usefulness and they can see when they need to bring it.

The medkits do become a lot more different from each other and better if you are using it to heal your team mates.
Also, you can just bring a brown addon and a syringe to get your two heals one of which you can have whilst moving or even in a chase. I know you need an iri but again it is a powerful effect.
I think overall it is just too risky to buff self healing of medkits in any way since if you made it so a ranger medkit basekit like before could get two heals that can already be a bit much to deal with.
If I’m healing my teammates I’m not using a medkit unless I’m pressured for time. More often than not you’re going to be in a position where you need to self-heal and need that medkit for that purpose. When you play solo queue you can’t really rely on anyone but yourself. I get that they’re trying to get people to play more altruistically but you can’t force people to play a certain way (because they just won’t) and knowing this makes me feel as if I need to hoard a medkit for myself just in case. Since the healing nerfs I feel like I’m playing less altruistically that I normally do because if I waste my medkit on someone else then I’m probably screwed.

Just bring your own map offering. Compared to a lot of things in this game this seems like such a non-issue.
