It seems like it would never really get put to use. Most chases don’t last more than a minute unless the loop is really that long, and if they get away, they’ll just heal themselves with self care because they’d be forced to take that. Unless you made it outrageously short in duration, there’s no way you could use it to your advantage, and would promote more insta heal medkits to be used. That’s the last thing I want when I play killer lol
That’s not the point. The idea is that since survivors are so hell bent on surviving, they won’t loop, they run away and heal, and self care can’t restore lost meter. It’s applying pressure while temporarily removing the survivor from the team, giving you time to resume your patrol while he heals.
  • Have no fear, shake those maracas and the body blocking conga line will come to your aid, and take turns getting hit at the hook.

Holy ######### that drives me crazy.

But in all seriousness, it’s boring. I wish survivors could latch onto tree branches and props to stop me temporarily, this way I can’t just walk wherever I want, and I’ll have to wiggle my camera to yank you off the prop.

To be honest though, destroying hooks is devastating to us. If we don’t run hangman’s trick then it’s almost impossible to get hooks when the last remaining three are too far away.
  • I wouldn't mind this. Everyone runs self-care either way so I'm sure most players won't mind it. You're forgetting about perks that speed up gen repair speed when injured though

Those perks can stay. There’s no way in hell you’d be able to complete a generator before almost completely bleeding out

The game is intended to be balanced around 4 perk slots. Introducing more for both sides would break it, given how powerful the Survivor perks are.

Well, balanced it is not. Lol.

Ok seriously the 5 minute game stuff is laughable since currently at rank 1 90% of my games are 10-20+ minute games. The only times that doesn't hold true is if the killer is just plain bad, trying to depip, or screwing around. The survivors are all Depip squad level adn killer has no Ruin and everyone has a toolbox and doesn't screw up.

The other times it last less than 5 minutes is when the killer just dominates either being really good map rng helping or hacking/lag switching to freeze survivors in place. On pc at least NA that's how most games are going so far for me.

I also run into a lot of the same killer pool playing at rank 1 so it's pretty consistent and only varies when it's a baby killer or someone doing dailies/trying to depip.

Ok, so do you play survive with friends consistently? Do killers that lose not use ruin?

Budddy I promise you survivors outnumber killers 4 to 1 that’s 4 times as much match feedback from survivors as killers. There has to be at least 2,000 killer mains remaining on PC in NA. You sure you’ve played all of them? That’s too black and white. Something’s off here.

I think you classify bad as someone who doesn’t play with ruin or some other must have overused crap like that. And can’t keep up with the four of you.  That’s a real problem. Not necessarily their own fault for those match results in every case, it’s a match by match basis and there’s so much psychological pressure on the killer that they may just be panicking.

Idk about you, but panicking has never been fun when you’re the one that’s chasing.  Stress is not something you should ever feel while playing a position of supposed power.
  • I say, stick the hex totems on the killer’s back.

LETS SEE THOSE RING-POP CRYBABIES CLEANSE THAT.

I want you to git gut. You have millions of ways to win only by creating strong build, which works with killer's power. Instead of this you crying on forums, asking for 5-th perkslot and making scenes only because some random dude who you didn't even know disagreed with your opinion.
No you didn’t just disagree, you were an #########. That’s the difference. Git gud isn’t a ######### solution to non-viability among a large majority of killers and perks. It’s “choose meta” but here you are once again ignoring all my claims and continuing to play victim. Until you actually have experience with this subject, we’re done here.

P.S.  I slug and camp on escape phase and survivors all of a sudden think I’m their therapist. I’m trash, this and that and cry, cry, cry. What else am I supposed to do? Let them leave? Oh right, the made up rules I forgot.

@Rattman you reference youtubers for balance? You’re joking right? Anyone can edit out their losses to make something look really good. Not denying their skill, haven’t seen their content. I don’t want to use nurse. There’s multiple killers. So I should run hexes and not any perks? I think you need an assessment on player variety and play style validity. Any perk combo should be compatible with any killer.

If not, then guess what? Someone didn’t pay attention in their game design class!

I don’t care about someone else’s build. I want my build to work. It’s in the game, and it doesn’t let me know if something is incompatible. Perks are supposed to be useful addons to the base kit.

Hex totems suck, they can only spawn in so many locations and rank 1 survivors know. Every. Spot. Every single one, to check. And pop goes your totem! Uh-oh!  Oh hey, another one! Whoops! Aaaand the last one is gone too. Now you’re running no perks because you were trying to patrol generators and 4 totems.

You dont think this through, do you? Wait... there’s a survivor as your avatar. That explains the defense of a balanced killer that totally isn’t frustrating or weak. There is a 75% likelyhood that you’re a survivor main, unless you have that nerfed too. Smh.

But hey, fanboys will get so desperate as to use YouTube entertainers as a credible source, right? That’s what it’s come to now? If you keep shitting on everyone giving genuine feedback, you’re going to scare off those with valid arguments because no one wants to deal with a child.

“Did you see how such and so did it on YouTube?” That’s your argument?... Really?
Whats next? Wikipedia gunna be your source for professional psychology?

Stop defending this #########. It’s getting old.

Your argument is weak. And so is my patience. Every damn day I have to deal with people like you on the game. And I come on the forum to express frustration and concern, and you’re here to tool around and do exactly the same thing.

There’s no getting away from the toxicity in this game, is there?
    Whoa-whoa, this ######### escalated quickly.
Of course, you don't have to run full hex build only cuz its worked with specific killer on certain map for certain youtuber. Make your strategy, don't freakin use same build ans cry cause it doesn't work.
Well, maybe you don't care about someone else build and want to have fun, but, you can't have fun on ashes of balance. Not long, atleast. And, don't even say that having 5-th perk slot is genuine feedback.
There is survivor on my avatar, so Iam survivor main? Lol. This only proves how biased you are in your suggestions. Btw, not so long ago I did adept pig. Freakin 4 kills without ruin and 2/3 perks are crap. Wanna proof? Write me in pm.
Aw yeah, sry for not agreeing with your opinion. This definetly makes me toxic scum.
So uh, you want me to use a certain build for a certain killer for a certain map? YOU KNOW WHEN I CAN’T CHOOSE THE DAMN MAP? What’s wrong with you man?

Your use of “git gud” along with the way you
worded that post IS toxic. “Have you seen how Monto does this?” And “Well, I guess this should be here too.” There is no getting good in an unbalanced experience.

You just say I’m false because YouTube, I challenge your argument, and you call my argument week and are now playing victim without providing anymore reasonable points? The only fact you’ve stated is the limitation of hex totems per-map.

Propositional counteragruments were made by me and another user.

And what say you in ye defense?

“Don’t use the same builds and cry because it didn’t work”.

Thats such a dumb and flawed statement. And I will now explain to you why.

    - I cannot select the map
    - I want to play my killer, the one that suits me, my killer-sona, my bae, not yours.
    - If I pay $5 for pig, she needs to be viable. That’s extra cash right there. Instead I accidentally must have bought farming simulator 2018 because all I see is grass. At least my crops are growing well I guess.
    - The perks I like should work in any situation.
    - The fact that you don’t relate to this at all, and have zero frustrating experiences to share shows you are definitely a survivor main. Let me make this clear, the moment you
hit rank 2 as a killer, it goes to #########, real quick.

I play both sides because easy because baby survivor mode where I don’t need to pull my own weight, just spin in a circle and throw wood, prevents me from uninstalling this game.

Holy #########. I’m about to suffer the brain hemorrhage status effect.
  • @Rattman actually, yes, you can, if you know simple coding, or modding, all you have to do, is lock hexes once the hex slot is used. You will not be able to use hexes in your perk slots until it’s removed. The moment you put a hex in a perk slot, the hex slot (fifth slot) is locked.

Not that hard dude. Think before you shut something down. I’m here because I want this game to get better.

I think it's kinda dumb killers get so salty just for tbagging, same with survivors and killer nodding. People need to get over themselves if they start seeing red just for pressing control a few times or moving your mouse back and forth lol

It wouldnt be a problem if the game wasnt so frustrating to play and balanced towards the survivors favour.

    THIS ^
  • @DeadByFlashlight finally someone gets it. And let’s not forget the infamous footage of Matthew Colte eating his words on “the killer is fine and fun to play” when he played killer. Never have I felt so satisfied in my life.

Know why they get salty? Because we can’t do jack-mary to you and we know, that you know that, and are taunting from a simulated position of power. Would you like being made as some group’s b*tch?
  • Yeah, let’s focus on Ruin being unreliable and the killer having far too much to deal with at red tier play, first. Then we can come back to this.  Any killer without addons becomes practically crippled by slow action times as well as lack of utility.

We can’t keep up with gen rushing already, no matter how good you are, there’s always a limit to how far skill can get you as a killer.

This is only apparent when you get a game full of reds. You will feel hopeless, anxious, frustrated, and like you wasted so much of your precious time.

Unfortunately I haven’t even had this game for a month, so I am too addicted to its concept to turn away from it, but this game will not survive on console when November arrives if they don’t get this balancing done soon. Red Dead Redmeption 2 is already expected to heavily dent the sales of other games on console platforms.

Im afraid this game will be next to totally dead by daylight when RDR2 hits store shelves.

You PC folks are fine though, shouldn’t impact too much.
  • Bring back the clown music!

    NO.
  • My dude, if you’re 7’4 you’re gunna have like 3 foot strides when you walk. Why do you think Trapper doesn’t bother to run?
  • REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  • Sometimes I wish I could play against rank 11-20 survivors if I use no perks or addons.
  • It ain’t a mistake. Get off the forum.
  • @scerckan read it before you ask questions that already have been answered.
  • Did ya read the patch notes?
  • @Strider that no one uses because hex totems are ass and can be removed. Yay. A whole perk slot wasted on something I lose in every match.
  • @Orion no I’ve been playing her for two weeks straight at Rank 1. I’ve got her down to the T but the grass is a problem, if you play on Lerie’s and then play literally any other vegetation map, there’s a huge notice in viability in crouching.  They can see you, but you can’t see them.  I’ll often approach gens and still they see me and dart, I didn’t even get to see a fraction of them. Damn grass is annoying.
  • I agree, but there are tons of people that don't seem to care about bp or are completely maxed out on all characters. What if you got a small bonus number of Iridescent shards for each match at rank 1? Double pip gives you triple the bonus, single pip gives you the bonus, and safety/no pip gives you no extra.

Kind of a side idea that may be super far fetched:
What if there was a raffle every week, every other week, or every month for a certain number of auric cells, bp, Iridescent shards, and/or unique cosmetics specific to the raffle? You would be entered once for every double pip match that you got, regardless of what rank you are or who you played. It would reward players who play well and play often, while hopefully not upsetting the balance of the current economy. There would like be two separate raffles (one for killers and one for survivors) and those could either run at the same time or swap every week. There might only be one winner, there might be several, it would be up to the devs
Well the problem with that statement is that add ons have always been, and always will be, desired for both sides. People like loot. And I doubt there are still a lot of people that play the game that have maxed everything out, and got prestige 3 on everyone. From what I’ve read on the net, it seems quite a few of the day one players, especially on xbox, have left the game behind. While it’s true that some don’t care for blood points, they’ll still need bloodpoints to completely max out the new characters that are added, and then mess around with addons.

    Just my incite though.

There’s currently a shortage of survivors as it is

    Source?

Playing the damn game as a killer

Because that lobby bug never existed, because survivors queuing with e.g lowrank survivors totally not make r1 seem having more killers. No that's not an indicator.

Though I’ve been at rank 1, I’m currently rank 11. Besides, over 30,000 people are bitching about matchmaking for killer. That’s out of 56k on PlayStation. Source: the DbD community for PS4 I mod

R15+ killers get almost instalobbies tho, source: account of GF.

They could also remove ranked, it serves no purpose but to divide the playerbase. Buffing survivors is out of the question but by your logic we should consider that to increase their numbers.

No simply buff survivors point gain

As surv you already get more points/hour if you equip WGLF, remember that the killer has to sit through the whole match.

Killer has BBQ. And survivors points are greatly lower if they don’t escape. Tokens for WGLF are WAY harder to get than BBQ. Also, if you don’t get over 20k as killer, you’re doing something wrong. While survivors get 20k if they min maxed and tried their very hardest.

That’s the point. It’s harder because you have 3 other people helping you out. It shouldn’t be as easy as BBQ
  • But then sloppy butcher won’t feel good to use in my opinion.... I really wish it damaged their bleedout bar though when they’re injured. :(

Oh they’ll go back to survivor when they see how much ######### we have to deal with, don’t worry.

Not on PS4 they won’t! Not when killers can close application and delete your data! Which the devs know about, and basically said suck it up we don’t give a #########

One more reason to stay on Xbox and PC I suppose.
  • Oh they’ll go back to survivor when they see how much ######### we have to deal with, don’t worry.
  • Well no they need to have something similar to the doctor in that there will be fake whoosh noises and force the survivor to guess if she’s actually coming for them, or if it’s just wind.
  • Ah, so the same way the Jockey works in Left 4 Dead 2? I think that’s a good idea honestly, but what it really needs to do, is slow the killer’s movement or allow the survivor to drop a pallet even as they are being carried. Perhaps cling onto objects like tree branches to briefly stop the killer while being carried?
  • My biggest problem is that I’ve noticed that generator and hatch grabs cancel mid animation. That pisses me off. Seems like it might be caused by pressing your attack key/button/mouse/trigger more than once.

    Either way, it’s demoralizing.
  • @Manta they’ve had “terrible” perks because a lot of the ones you already have are so powerful that adding something of equal worth would already once again tip the scale in the survivor’s favor.

To sum it up, they have to be careful with how powerful new perks are, given that the killers were given a weak killer and pretty terrible perks, it’s only fair that weak survivor perks are added as well.
  • @misteraxel
sloppy butcher is a must have in my opinion. It’s one of the few cross map pressure perks in the game.

Idk if you guys are reading.. it stops randomly at time with the spinning motion and Id rather have a tapped button so i know it will register correctly. What do you care if someone has a different wiggle preference? Clearly, it doesnt work for everyone.
If it stops randomly then you are experiencing controller thumbstick deadzones. Your controller needs to be serviced. Happens over time depending on how well you maintain them. I have NEVER had this issue once.
  • Esheon said:
If you're talking about the sway caused by a struggling survivor, you can do something similar on PC by tapping A and D while carrying. It doesn't get rid of it entirely, but it can help.
No, it’s the equivalent of holding W and violently shaking your mouse from left to right. It almost completely eliminates the effects of struggling.

I've been saying it on the Steam forums since launch and I'm saying it now:
When will fighting the Entity have an option between mashing the spacebar and just holding it?
I mean, it's not like it's a difficult skill-gate that weeds out slower players. You only ever die early if the game does not read a spacebar input, or your hand gets tired. Altering it won't be unfair for the killers, since 90% of all hook deaths are either 3rd hook or 'screw it, I don't want to mash'.
It's just an annoying choice by the devs that kills keyboards.

Hell, if you stream like I sometimes do, all you can hear when I'm hooked is clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick nonstop, which ain't fun to listen too.

    tl;dr:
Spacebar mashing is useless, not fun, not immersive, and lowers the lifetime of keyboards. Let us toggle an option from 'mash' to 'hold'.

I agree with this, mashing for a full 60 seconds is not good on your hand. Holding it would make it less tedious and annoying.
  • But... they’re ultra rare... and only encountered in like 1 of every 500 matches or so... they’re rare... they’re fun...
  • jacowwow said:
Will we ever be able to apply these to different buttons?! Wiggling is annoying spinning cuz it stops alot from one weird, accidental rotation mishap and self care gets in the ways of pallet dropping and unhooking at the worst times! Id rather tap something to wiggle like PC.
My dude wiggling on console is incredibly comfortable compared to pc, you can just slowly and comfortably spin the thumbstick in circles for maximum wiggle speed at no extra stress on your hands. Pc you gotta press two buttons.
  • Don’t listen to those crybabies. They try to deceive killers into thinking they’ve done wrong because they’re too stupid to adapt to your playstyle. This is why a Killer granting mercy is a very rare sight.
  • Cheer up! They say “We think we’ve done a pretty good job so far.”
  • Welp, if you T-bag me, you bet your donkey keester I’m gunna tunnel you to death.

Then send you a message saying,”And what did we learn today?”

Toxicity is fun to deal with when you know how to counter everything they do. Because you know it’s only a matter of time until you catch them.
  • Might have something to do with the fact that the beginning of the match is a free for all in trying to out-hide one another to see who gets caught first. That’s what probably ignites the salt early on.

I noticed survivors spread out in the beginning trying to make sure that they are not the first one caught, while at the same time hoping the guy who is caught first knows how to loop. Usually doesn’t and that’s why there are quitters. :/
