My favorite underrated perk will always be Dying Light.
It was reportedly nerfed sometime ago, but when it gets rooted in there, man, it goes HARD.
-
First off, if you're going to invest in Killer, welcome to Hell.
All jokes aside, Killer is inherently more stressful than Survivor, primarily because you are not the power role you would expect to be. You kind of just capitalize on the Survivors' mistakes most of the time. Set them up like dominos and wait for them to tip themselves over type of deal.
That being said, playing Spirit will get you salt and toxicity no matter what you do, so just be aware of that. Using her power to move fast and catch up to people or snipe them on generators is the primary play most Spirits go for, but you'll probably learn your own strategy as time goes on.

Yes they can, which is something you would know if you were actually a Rank-1 Killer. :) I've been losing so badly (Grave of Glenvale last night as a matter of fact) that I didn't get my first hook until only two Generators were left. I ended up with a 3K. It happens all the time.
Frankly, though you ARE correct, I find this answer flawed.
As a rank 1 Killer who just got there last night(Just before rank reset), I've found that a poor early game can, and in 95% of games WILL, cost you the match.
You are correct, don't get me wrong, you CAN come back from this. My Freddy build is the king of comebacks, after all.
However, it'd be incorrect to say that it isn't highly likely that unless you make a build specifically tailored toward picking yourself back up after a rough early game, you are more than likely boned.

You have to eventually as survivor to get the unsafe gens done. It's not like you can just hide out at fun bus all game lol.
I mean, against a chase Killer like Clown and Deathslinger, there is no unsafe generator aside from the one they're at right then. They have no auxillary pressure, so generators are open season.
-
Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if about... 80% of the community is made up of children between 11-14, just as you said.
I make the joke whenever I hear a "squeaker" in a game like Team Fortress 2 or whatever that they shouldn't be playing the game at their age. To the individual's discretion as to how jokingly they take it.
-
You see, I came in expecting some philosophical debate on how Clown has hidden powers nobody has ever seen yet, ala "This isn't even my final form!".
I was not disappointed by the actual result.
-
Alright, as a Killer Main, my opinion is fairly biased, however, hear me out:
In my experience DS has upsides and downsides. In 99% of cases, you see that little Obsession jingle play and you know you're in for a match of pain and torture, especially when you don't even realize that the Survivor you plucked off the ground just now has a knife tucked in her shoe primed to stab you in the gut.
However, I've found a bizarre stroke of luck lately, where my matches have been going rather well, even moreso when DS goes off.
My perk combo of Dying Light and STBFL(Not that this is the topic for perk builds) has the effect of giving the random schmuck who gets the Obsession card relative immunity from my wrath, while everyone else suffers until... WHAM! I get stabbed in the butt and now the former Obsession begins to panic as the new Obsession is let off scot-free, giving me ample pressure on a former player who could afford to get up close and personal, and continuing to build my stacks all around, and even in a renewed sense, as a new Obsession gives me upwards of two hook tokens to slow generators even more.
-
Okay, here's the thing:
The Devs are actually working on fixing this now. The problem, however, was that people were cheesing the system to get people banned in really stupid ways for upwards of 72 hours at a time.
BHVR fixed it, but the hackers found a way to do it AGAIN.
So now they're going through and fixing things the manual-samuel way. Meanwhile, you must remain patient, young Padawans. DC penalties shall return someday.

I use this combo when I paly Freddy or Doctor, but as oni, SBL doesn't help a lot.
Aside from Demon Striking Survivors, I feel like it would help a lot. I know Dying Light can pull clutch games on its own, but it's dependant on how good you are at hooking.
-
If you're efficient at hooking, my friend, allow me to introduce you to my favorite perk combo thus far:
Dying Light + Save the Best for Last.
Ignore the Obsession, and for each Survivor you smack, you get to attack faster and faster. For each Survivor you hook, generators slow to a crawl as the game goes on.
Take them down one-by-one, don't panic, and the final two gens or so will be completed at a snail's pace. Once you reach about 5 hooks, the generators will be mostly a non-issue.

Never thought of using stbfl with freddy, I can see why you are using that build.
But that is not a silly build imo since by ignoring the obsession you are building stacks from the rest for both stbfl and dying light.
Well, "silly" is relative, since OoO is going on in the background.
That being said, I very rarely find OoO users in my games.
I'm just surprised my build works so well. Haven't had any matches with worse than Ruthless because Dying Light slows the game hard enough to make the 12-hook strategy viable.
-
@OldHunterLight said:
Maybe it is because of Freddy? I haven't encountered any OoO right now, but I just started playing like an hour ago.
I ended up figuring out a... Really silly build that makes OoO rather pointless against my Freddy.
Dying Light + Save the Best for Last.
You ignore the Obsession HARD. Unless you need some personal space, their existence is a non-concern.
-
Back when I first started playing, Deathslinger was just recently released.
I mained Wraith out the gate, and had fun hiding around the hook, whacking those pesky Survivors with my trusty whacking stick when they got close to my prey.
I later learned that this was toxic AF, and soon got better perks, learned better strategies, and invested time into killers beyond Wraith, so I could learn how to play.
-
Man, my story is pretty good, at least in my own opinion.
I was playing as Oni on Yamaoka, such a shocker there.
There was a blonde chick, I don't remember her name, whom I was chasing.
She runs up to a pallet, and who walks out right in front of it but Mr. David King, who proceeded to sandbag the poor blonde girl.
Me being me, I stood there for a solid 5 seconds as blondie slowly turned back to look at me. We looked into each others' eyes, and I stepped back.
Blondie fled, and I proceeded to make sure that David paid for his sins.
After the match, I went: "David knows what he did."
David and the rest of the SWF, however, were confused, so I explained the situation, and everyone laughed.

Hex: No One Escapes Debt:
A Hex rooting its power on hope. You are animated by the power of your Hex Totem when the Survivors are on the verge of escaping. Once the Exit Gates are powered, if there is a Dull Totem remaining on the Map, this Hex is applied to it.
While Hex: No One Escapes Death is active, your Movement speed is increased by 2/3/4 %, and any Survivor injured while Hex: No One Escapes Death is active has their Bloodpoint totals sapped and transferred to you at the end of the match. Applicable bonuses apply to the final total Bloodpoint count.
The Hex effects persist as long as the related Hex Totem is standing, and if cleansed, returns the Bloodpoints to their original owners.
"And the beast became faster and more powerful as if The Entity's shadowy whips were lashing at its back."

This causes me to ignore them more. I'd go so far as to tunnel their teammates when someone does this.
This. If a Killer is experienced, they are incredibly suspicious of Survivors actively outing themselves to the Killer like a tasty worm on a hook.
I've found that if you want the Killer's attention, the easiest way is to stun them with something. Surprise pallet, surprise Head-On, surprise anything that can stun them. A stun is really hard to ignore if they don't see it coming right away.
-
I've been playing since March, and I have yet to see any of these shenanigans. You're lucky you get action like this.
-
The best thing you can do as Blight, in my experience, is to be unpredictable.
Start a chase right away, and finish it quick. Then, either commit to the second chase, or spread pressure around the group. Do the opposite next time.
Use his power in strange ways, like bouncing off the wall the Survivor runs past only to go around the other end of the loop, bounce back around the initial side, and hit them on the way through. Blight thrives in the sheer chaos of a group who can't predict his next move, and he also excels in chases as a 115% speed Killer. All around, he is great.

If we are adding dragons grip then just wait 30 seconds. Basically choosing 15 charges of a gen or exposed. I feel like in a chase no radius (and maybe stain I forgot if that’s effected or not) would be harder to loop around then a Cooldown based ability he may or may not have. Plus in a chase he has more to go by then just the scream from static blast. He has scratch marks, blood, sounds, shock therapy, and a lot more.
I've seen people play with some tricky perks to hide scratch marks and noises from anything. If you think you understand the potential shenanigans available, you are mistaken, my friend.

There are always two extra gens so they don’t have to work on that one to escape. And even if they touch the gen Doctor isn’t oppressive with his power so they will be fine.
I don't think you've attempted to hide during a chase if you think this is true. Doc is the king of locking you down solely because of Static Blast. Your point about that may be true, but what happens when Doc runs over and kicks the 99% generator you were so close to finishing? That's a painful choice. Take an exposed hit and give him his power back, but get the generator at the cost of a free hook state for Doc, or let him have the gen, but sap his power for potentially the rest of the game, provided nobody touches the active gen?
-
@RizeAki said:
Problem with that is if he kicks a gen in that time he is undetectable he can’t use static blast.
That's why the build is so punishing for Survivors.
If they stop the regression, Doc gets to zappy-zap in his Terror Radius.
If they let it happen, they lose a gen they were working on.
It's a lose-lose situation, but unlike Pyramid Head's power before the rework, it isn't immediately condemning.

Oh, that is DEVIOUS. Survivors will have to keep moving to rob Doc of his primary anti-stealth trick. Maybe hang out nearby with it on standby just to rub it in their face and teach them that "Hey, if you tap the gen, you get zapped."
As an addendum, I would add some chase or tracking-oriented perks, like Distressing or something, rather than Haunted Ground, since you'll want to teach the Survivors that touching the gens you are regressing is not a good idea, but letting it regress is the lesser of two evils. Kind of the idea behind a build of that nature is to punish those who touch your gens HARD.
-
@Falkner09 said:
You choose whether to give him his power back by being dared to touch the yellow gen. I think I'll pair it with Dragon's Grip and Make Your choice, then either Pop or Haunted Ground. It's gonna be so much fun! (For me)

Toxic outfit??? Lol 🙄
It's true, though. Believe it or not, there is a DISTURBING connotation between Survivors wearing specific outfits and playing in toxic ways. And no, I'm not talking about just being good at looping or whatever. I'm talking about going out of your way to aggravate and enrage the Killer, just for kicks.

Why is it always like that if Killers do something bad it is like "Oh, you dont know what they had to endure before you" or "You dont know what the Survivors did"? Why do people always feel the need to justify Killer BS?
Because sometimes it's true.
Maybe the Killer in question WAS just a dickwad being a dickwad, but have you seen the level of douchebaggery Survivors regularly put Killers through? There's a reason the term "Survivor Main" has such a negative connotation compared to "Killer Main", though neither are positive.
-
@xevra said:
how is an outfit toxic? that baffles me what if people just like the outfit and wanna wear it cause its their style? that makes them a target for a mori now cause of the outfit choice? killers are a bunch of babies who say everything is toxic
The reason the "Toxic Nea" outfit is toxic is because the vast majority of people who use it ARE toxic when playing. They T-Bag, they clickyclicky, they DS into Head-On into a random pallet stun somehow, and they go "GG EZ" in endgame chat.
The stereotype only exists because it's so prevalent. It isn't a case of Killers being "a bunch of babies who say everything is toxic". It's the fault of the toxic Survivors who use that outfit to stand out like a sore thumb and actively piss the Killer off.
-
This is the us-vs-them mindset that causes these problems in the first place, my friend.
You don't know what those poor Killers had to endure the match before you. Maybe they got stomped and just want a win. Maybe someone has a toxic outfit, such as Toxic Nea or Bunny Feng, and they're expecting bullcrap. Or maybe they don't yet understand how unfun it is to play against.
You don't know their lives.
-
So, I hear a lot of back and forth over this, but I PERSONALLY think the Devs are at least marginally Survivor-biased. Dead By Daylight is a 1v4 game, so naturally, there will be more people playing the group of 4 at any given time.
However, this doesn't mean that the Developers should prioritize Survivors over Killers. For the longest time, I have believed that the Killers should be the power role, as they have fewer members, and escape should NOT be as easy as it is today. Perhaps the Devs don't see it this way, but when they make comments such as Almo's statement on the reasoning behind Pop Goes the Weasel's nerf, it becomes very difficult to feel like they AREN'T heavily biased towards Survivors, especially when they give no remark on Decisive Strike, which shares a similar issue, or really any problem Killers have on the whole.

Statistical data needed - cause 90% of the time when I get hit with DS, it's after I've chased and hooked 1 to 2 other people. Which is the situation I see most on streamers ends as well. Speak for yourself, not for everyone. Provide statistical data or retract.
God, if I could post the "Thank you!" GIF from The Office, I would. Well put.
-
@MrLimonka said:
You can use PGTW multiple times, while DS can be used only once.
45 seconds is more than enough to kick any gen, so I don't really understand why everyone is losing their minds.
Everyone is "losing their minds" over Almo's statement regarding the CHANGES TO POP GOES THE WEASEL, and how the statement "The [Player] has too much time to do other things while it's active" applies just as easily to Decisive Strike.
This conversation devolved into us-versus-them like it always does, because this community has repeatedly shown itself to be filled with the most toxic asshats I have ever seen in any community before. Frankly, I'm sorry for the poor developers who have to deal with some of the bullcrap on these forums, and I feel bad for all the baby killers getting their collective skulls smashed in by the obvious power role in the game, despite everything in the lore stating otherwise.
Am I salty that I've been getting creamed by toxic SWF console players all night? Yes.
Is my statement true? Yes.
-
@Blindninja said:

That's very true but if the controller limits something that a keyboard can do not based on skill but physical limitations of the hardware itself, then that's not fair and needs to be sorted
I won't say I disagree with this statement, but frankly, controllers in video games with cross-play will be at a disadvantage for the rest of video game history. Look at Sea of Thieves for example. Sensitivity will only do so much when your enemy keeps hopping behind you.
-
The problem with Object of Obsession is that, while yes, Survivors make call-outs in a SWF at all times, an OoO user makes the issue 100 times worse for a few key reasons.
First, any Terror Radius-changing Perks or Addons that don't grant Undetectable are absolutely useless against Object of Obsession, which means they will see you at all times and call you out, bringing me to the second issue.
An Object of Obsession user is able to, functionally, see you at ANY distance, and see EXACTLY what you're doing, where you're doing it, when you do it.
Setting up a Trap? Expect that to get snapped by a twig or flashed. Laying a Portal? Expect it to immediately be cleansed when it opens. Trying to sneak about with Monitor and Abuse as Deathslinger? Sad days for you, you'll literally never catch up to the Obsession, and everyone will know you're coming from miles away.
Object of Obsession isn't anywhere near as bad on solos, but nobody runs it on solos.

So yea controller users are not wrong when they say he's ######### then. Its not them not knowing how to play him. They have a valid complaint
But I can't tell who plays on what unless they go out and state that beforehand. Controller players will ALWAYS be at a disadvantage, no matter what the context is. Controllers are inferior to mouse and keyboard in all aspects, IMO.

Can you explain in detail exactly what you're doing? Like which stick are you turning and when and how quickly argue attacking after turning the stick? A video tutorial would definitely help the whole community on YouTube. Would definitely get a like and sub from me
I play on PC, so there is no *stick*. It's a pretty simple concept, as well. You turn toward your target, and just before you lunge, start moving your mouse in the direction you want to go. The harder you flick your mouse, the further you turn, up to 90 degrees.
-
You know, funny that you guys mention the flick...
Blight ACTUALLY HAS a maneuver I've dubbed the "Point-Turn", where by flicking HARD in the direction you want to go, Blight can lunge, and immediately spin to around 90 degrees in the desired direction before swinging, and lunging, in that direction.
It's basically a flick, but instead of like Oni where you flick and he turns fast to hit people, Blight's Point-Turn allows him to turn 90 degrees and lunge to hit people.
-

But how does that help 9nce u are in full sprint and then the surv turns? You seen to be missing the point.
If the Survivor jukes you, it's often directly to your left or right, yes?
By doing what I like to call a "Point-Turn", Blight goes from a measly 45° angle to a 90° angle as soon as he winds up for the swing.
Survivor goes right, you wait and bait out their turn, and you Point-Turn after them, smacking them anyway.
I have no idea if this is intended, but I hope it is. It's a ridiculous tech.

Potential, but I think nothing will ever beat nurse (a good nurse) since her power simply breaks the whole game mechanic. As strong as he is, there is counterplay and several tiles that he simply can't use his power on. Nurse has ALWAYS the ability to end chases within 15 seconds on every tile, and that is pretty hard to top
Well, that's a fair argument. But even still, the fact that a Killer actually has the POTENTIAL to be as strong as Nurse in at least most situations is somewhat terrifying to think about.
He has his flaws, yes, and Nurse has minimal flaws, but considering she outright says "No." to loops in general, unless Blight could go the way of the Left 4 Dead Hunter, I don't see anyone else who could top her outright.
-
Frankly, I've found that one of Blight's biggest strengths is unpredictability.
I've hit Survivors with Lethal Rush both head-on and by coming at weird angles. If Survivors can't EXPECT you to hit them a certain way, they won't juke it so much knowing you might use a different tactic.
-
You don't believe me? I can prove his crazy turning angle power. I've done it plenty of times before.
-
@GrimmReaper said:
Pretty much. That tight angle is his Achilles' heel and I'm surprised not many people have realised that. Just a simple turn to the left or right and he's effectively useless. Even running up to him at an angle or when he's in his first rush is a massive kick in the sack.
There is one flaw to that theory, however:
Blight can turn up to 90 degrees if the player maximizes their turning on their mouse.
As soon as that cane goes up, there is a split second of control where the player can turn him to a 90-degree angle from his original facing direction. With proper reading and baiting techniques, Blight can easily hit Survivors who try to juke him.
-
I've noticed this. It's rare, but it does happen. I advise reporting it to the bug forums.
-
Frankly, I think Blight has some SERIOUS potential to contest the title of "Best Killer" which has been held in an iron-clad grip by Nurse since the dawn of her existence, even to this day.
High mobility is key in the Killer meta, and paired with the right perks, hoo boy, Blight is a force to be reckoned with. Especially since his mobility gives him huge flexibility for totem defender builds.
-
The reason they keep removing it is that hackers found numerous ways to get others banned using exploits and loopholes in the game's code.
DC penalties are under review for a second time to compensate.
-
This entire post sums up how I feel in a shellnut. Blight has some insane potential. Paired with the right builds, he can cover Totems using Thrill of the Hunt. He can hop to and from hooks like nobody's business, and even moreso, he has the power to absolutely STUFF cocky SWF players who BM instead of pounding out gens ASAFP.
Well-done review of Blight, as you actually showcase the hidden gold the prospectors have been searching for!

Rank means nothing. Rank 1's and 2's are often #########. I have many many hours in this game and I know rank means that you just play the game a lot. Sure he isn't good in comp play but 95% of DBD is Pub matches and not Comp play. No one is going to use him in comp play but in Pub matches I believe you will destroy survivors if you get good at him. Just my opinion though.
I feel like Blight has an untapped gold mine tucked away just out of view of people like OP.
Maybe I'm just lucky, or scummy, or whatever, but I consistently 3-4k, even when my Totems get cleansed. All it takes is BBQ to sniff them out.
-
BBQ is absolutely AMAZING on Blight, since he has the ability to traverse the map insanely fast.
