I would also like train ghostface back, I hate printer ghostface so much...
-
if you wanna do more math, you can also calculate it based on how many characters you want with all perks.
Based on what I did you need at least like 4 characters to make it at least same with current system. If you want only one (I play only one survivor for example), it's +/- 20% more BP than current system.

Twins is far from weak btw.
I didn't mean them of course.
By dealing with weak was something like clown, pig etc.
Twins and Deathslinger are just painful to play as for me, for different reasons. Twins can be at least good unless survivors have perks to counter you. Deathslinger is weak and painful to play as. But masochist has perfect killer, so I guess that's something.

He is actually getting indirectly buffed with the Dead Hard rework.
I wouldn't really call it buff, when it's 100% based on survivor's choice.
And mainly it's his gameplay that is frustrating. I can deal with a weak killer, but I don't like when it's painful -> Twins, Deathslinger.

Grind like crazy and wasted over 500 cakes to get prestige 3 on my main killers. Well, that was dumb idea, wasn't it?

Sorry the "Sparkling Portraits" was intended to be a reward. Lmao. Looks like a cheap filter that can only be seen on your side anyways.
That is even more sad that this is the intended reward for long time players.
Thanks for clearing that up!
at this point even that charm would be better.
But screwed this, they said it's going to be a special prestige icon. If they simply lied about it to make us play more during event, I will just refuse to play again. I was fine without dbd for half a year and that was for less.

Correct. The special reward for reaching prestige 3 before the update is indeed not a charm, as we confirmed. The additional rewards for reaching prestiges 7-9 were not mentioned prior to the dev update.
Yeah, but a special prestige icon was mentioned. What about that?

I have no issue with Twins and they're a top tier killer so yeah, I don't get the complaint here. Is it because of that irrelevant Victor cooldown thingy?
It's because of 5 second fatigue for each down with Victor. Basically DS whenever you want to switch after down.
Also I played them few times for challenges and that rubberbanding seems to completely stop Victor during his attack, which allows free kick.
-
So they are going to have 5 perk slots...
and you can add CoH for six
-
I wouldn't really remove hook timer, it's good to be under some pressure at least.
Hook pool is really bad idea. SoloQ is already bad enough. Imagine players that give up and just run after killer all the time. I want to have at least some chance to win that.
-
Well, with BBQ nerf we have less reasons to not tunnel...
-
BBQ has a 42% use rate, and isn't guaranteed to get 4 stacks.
I can get it 9 in 10, unless I play some killer for some challenge. There my priority changes.
Use rate doesn't really matter, thing is that it just was whenever I wanted to farm BP, I use it, which is all the time for me.
It's going to be, "let's hope I will get at least 50% today."
Amount of BP you get everyday is just going to be lower. So yeah, it will be fine for perks, but it's going to worse for offerings / addons / items.

No?
I have about 6/7 survivors I regularly rotate between depending on who has the envelopes and party streamers, and I play survivors who have a daily ritual.
Three of them have now got just about all perks, not that they need them all, because survivors can manage without any perks. I've escaped with crap like left behind and desperate measures on characters just because that's all they had.
And BBQ is made up for by the role incentive bonus. Which I just told you on another topic.
Which I just told you on another topic.
and I told you that chance for 0-100%, doesn't made up for 75-100% anytime player wants.
I have about 6/7 survivors
that doesn't negate my statement. I didn't say all.
I can talk only for myself and my group. I play only Jeff, all other survivors are level 40. Then we have Kate, Meg and Claudette.
Most players simply don't have reason to change many survivors. I can understand 2/3 survivors, but with that number you still need more BP than with current system.
So it just got worse for most survivors.
-
so basically not worth it, but as I said. I have everything, so I am fine.
I just hoped to get my friends to dbd. They stopped because of grind and it's just still there / worse for them.
But hey, there is too many survivors anyway.

They've done A.
It's the new role incentive bonus.
I've already explained why in about 10 other identical topics.
You mean for only one role (probably killers) and it's between 25%-100%?
That is supposed to replace perk that I can use every game for 100% unless I screwed it?

You could just hit the Survivor after they get unhooked
So you basically want killers to wait 5 seconds and hit that survivor every time?
Alright, you got it.

No I read it, I just don't think you understand the update. So what, its better for a new player to log on, get every survivor or killer to 40, then go in that players bloodweb and unlock all these perks to tier 3? And hope they get the perks they want to play with first, not at complete random? Thats ass in the long run. MOST players will want to play more than 1 character as they progress. They're supposed to wash, rinse, repeat? That's nonsense. Its 1000% (chill, I made up that percentage for hyperbole) easier for new survivors. and as for BBQ/WGLF, that wasn't a 100% increase in BP everytime. Every killer got 4 hooks from 4 different survivors everytime? Its easier to get 4 WGLF stacks but even then, its not always 4. The 75% decrease in grind more than makes up for it. If someone only wants to play one character, the game can't be built around those people.
I don't know about you, but me and my friends play only one survivor, we don't change it each game and even for killers, I don't play more than 4 regularly.
and even with this system, there will be very little players that are actually going to get everyone prestige 3, which as you said is also ass in the long run. You need a lot of BP for something like that and you are doing it for characters you don't care about.
Most players will go with path prestige 1 and bloodweb anyway. You really expect everyone to completely ignore character they want to play and spend 4,5M on characters they don't care about? That's lots of wasted offerings / addons.
75% decrease is just not true. It's 60% at best and only for those who want literally every perk on every character. So it doesn't make up for it.
I am going for BBQ 4 stack during this event each game and in most of them, I get it. Unless I am doing challenge on killer like clown or something. So yeah, if I want BP I make sure to hook everyone. So sure, it's not 100%, but like 90%.
You are still going to need more games to get what you want than with current system.

My basic assumption is if someone starts a new account in DBD they're going to look at what perks are most suggested and get those characters and work towards unlocking those perks while picking out who they want to mainly play as survivor or who they like playing as most as killer.
They might not even have to unlock those perks by leveling a killer, they may very well luck out and get some good ones in the shrine.
But again, you keep stumbling in front of the fact that unlocking teachable perks, unlocks the teachable perks immediately. You can use them. They are real Perks, and in most cases the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 3 is negligent.
For god's sake Tier 1 Lethal Pursuer is 7 seconds. Tiers 2 and 3 just add one second each. Are you saying that someone can't use Lethal Pursuer Tier 1 and instead need to Prestige Nemesis two more times?
The "Grind" was unlocking all the Perks across different characters, and you don't have to do that anymore, they are unlocked.
The "Grind" was trying to find the Perks you wanted in Bloodwebs, waiting on Entity RNG to give them to you, and you don't have to do that anymore, they are unlocked.
So spare me this nonsense about having to Prestige every character for Tier 3 like you can't just immediately start playing the character you want with a build of perks that are already unlocked and just level that character like you would anyway even if you had Tier 3 of everything.
The grind is getting insane number of BP and it got worse for them.
New players don't really have even a number of killers / survivors needed to make it worth it. If you don't have lot of perks unlocked, you don't have to look for it in bloodweb, that is issue only for veteran players.
As I said, this change is great for veteran players, but I don't think we are a category of players that needed help.
-
I wonder who is worse: Billy vs Twins vs Deathslinger.
Billy can be fun, so probably either Twins or Deathslinger. Both hurts you when you play them.
-
@akaTheBARON said:
This goes to show, no matter what BHVR does, it won't be good enough and you can't please everybody. There's always going to be people in a small demographic that claim a change ruins something for players like them, but they will be in the minority. Its for the greater good, its great for new players who suffer at the current grind, and the game's numbers suffer overall.
You didn't read it all, did you?
its great for new players who suffer at the current grind
Issue is that it's going to be even worse for them.
that claim a change ruins something for players like them
I already have all perks unlucked on everyone. It's great for me, because I won't have to deal with new killer farming, but I am not going to be happy just because it's good for me, when I see it sucks for those who needs it most.
-
@Viskod said:
Not everybody uses BBQ/WGLF so you can't just automatically factor that in.
You don't need a minimum number of characters to make it "worth it" It's worth whatever you do to get the Perks you want.
And you *already have* the perks. The fallacy here is treating Tier 1 and Tier 2 versions of Perks like they aren't "Real". You'll grab them as you play the character you want to play normally, as you level your bloodweb normally.
You're trying to act like it costs x amount of BP to be ready to play the game and have whatever perks you want, but once you unlock them, you have them. No more unlocking a Perk and then just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for it to show up. You've got them.
It's better. Hands down.
then just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for it to show up
There is not waiting for new players. They unluck most of their free perks before they reach level 50 anyway.
Your example works only for players who have all / lot of perks unlocked.
and most killers were using BBQ to farm. Not that many survivors with WGLF, but I did. I don't like endless grinds, so I am doing anything I can to do it faster and that option is going to be denied.
Edit: there will be waiting and waiting anyway, because most players will get only prestige 1, then use bloodweb anyway.
To get everyone in prestige 3 takes a lot of time.
-
Use detective's hunch... It's really good even if you don't need to search for hex. It's easy to prevent 3-gen with it too.
-
@Viskod said:
For a new player rounding up all the teachable perks they want, once they are unlocked, they are instantly given. You don't have to randomly find them in the bloodweb and once they are unlocked at Tier 1 you don't have to touch the other character they were unlocked from again. You can start playing with the perks immediately and just grab the upgrades as they come naturally as you level up that one character you wanted to use as you would anyway for items, add ons, and offerings.
It doesn't matter if someone wants to play multiple characters or one character.
Ok, so I'll show you where you are wrong:
Prestige 1 costs 1,6M ->it give you tier 1 perks, so you still need 6 tiers of perks, which is 150K.
Level 40 costs 1,25M -> you need 9 tiers of perks, which is 250k.
So new system to get perks on character costs 1,75M vs current system 1,5M.
So it does matter how many characters you want to play. To make new system worth it, you need to be interested in at least 3 characters.
But there is still issue that you won't have BBQ /WGLF to farm it, so good luck with that.

-
@jesterkind said:
I said this on the other thread too, but I think the flaw in reasoning here is forgetting that new players don't have every character to even begin the grind for getting everything on any character.
A newer player is only going to be levelling the characters they actually play, and using whatever they get as teachables and what's in the generic pool. By the point that they actually feel any pressing need to get everything unlocked, even if only on one character, surely they'd no longer be a new player and have some progress made towards that to begin with?
so it doesn't matter in how many characters is that player interested.
Basically prestige 1 + bloodweb costs 275k more than just level 40 + bloodweb.
But games needed is even higher without BBQ. I don't get why they just didn't make it basekit.
-
That seems like an issue with hackers, not with a perk.
-
@Peanits said:
For a single character, it will take a little longer to max them out, yes, but the new system quickly takes over in efficiency as you start adding more characters. I have a write up for it here:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3017065#Comment_3017065
In short, if you want to max out just one character, you can prestige the others once for more or less the same effect (+10 levels per character compared to the current system). But if you ever get bored of that character and want to switch it up, you've wasted far fewer levels than the old system.
if you want to max out just one character,
isn't that how most survivors play?
You need at least 6 characters to make new system worth it and you are going to need twice more games with BBQ nerfed.

You get shards as a function of how long you are in a match. Points don't really matter to me since I've been playing since the beginning.
Forcing the killer to push you out is sometimes advantageous as a survivor. I had a game today vs 3 toxic flashlight SWF people. If one of them had brought unbreakable they could have had 4 escape instead of just 1 person. The last survivor did not leave until I punched them at the gate. This wastes precious seconds.
if time is your reason, then it doesn't make sense.
If they would give me hit / down, then they would gain even more time with that. I can understand not wanting to get downed for emblems, but hit doesn't have any negative effect unless I have Franklyn's, which I didn't.
-
Don't be same as survivors saying 5 sec basekit BT is useless, because it's not.
Both changes are valid.
50 seconds of extra time without any perks is not valid for you?

Some killers can never be trusted. I had a Legion carry me around the entire map in "search" of the hatch on Swamp and it was on the staircase underneath main, and they walked by it and hooked me in basement, mind you after 3 min of looking for the hatch. Idgaf if you hook or give hatch, but don't waste my time like that.
I have done it one and it was because of that challenge to kill survivors during end game collapse... Yeah, I felt bad for doing it like that.

99% I am waiting BT is because that survivor was annoying me.

SWF don't need changes. Just buff soloQ and everyone is happy, we can talk then about overall killer vs survivor.

I am doing it just for my main killers and hope to get like 100 cakes on them after it.

I mean, I think MMR is not even active anymore (or much less effective), so yeah. It doesn't matter.
It was easy to get to "high" MMR as a killer and you basically needed to be way better than killer as soloQ survivor (Ayrun level), or you needed decent SWF.
MMR system was / is flawed and it just made dbd worse. I am sure everyone is happy it's kinda gone.

I bring We'll Make It pretty regularly, but it's not a substitute for BT. BT is for unsafe hook rescues, We'll Make It is for safe ones. Ideally you want to make safe rescues, but it's pretty regularly not an option.
Also, yeah, either BT will be meta or OTR will be, depending on if the latter gets nerfed. OTR is basically DS and your teammate having BT in one perk, so it's more slot-efficient and I suspect BT will fall by the wayside despite the fact that it was essentially buffed.
However it shakes out, one of them is still a requirement because 5 seconds endurance basekit is nearly inconsequential. Very easy to wait out, doesn't guarantee you can get anywhere. If they wanted to make camping and tunneling less attractive, they needed to go further than this.
but there will be small BT basekit, which will often be enough. So we'll make it might be overall better, depends if you will have lot of killers waiting 5 sec, but I doubt that.
-
I hate that map so much. I just refuse to go inside a house and try to force 3-gen somewhere in corner.
But even then most of those loops have weird hitboxes that get everyone stuck, or some random items to block you.

Understandable, Have a Great Day
I was on break for like 6 months (MMR, COH, Validation, killer nerfs).
Changes overall seems good for midpatch, but I agree they didn't help soloQ in any way, nor fixed camping and made some overnerfs.
That could be fixed easily imo.
So there is space for improvements for sure.

It's hard to say without testing, all I know is that it will be either useless or broken, nothing between.

Its not really about Killers being weak.
But just yesterday I had the thought - why is half of my Perk Build being gutted (DS and Iron Will) and the Nurse with Starstruck, purple Range and green Recharge is allowed to exist? Or Nurse in general is allowed to exist?
Or Nurse in general is allowed to exist?
because BHVR is balancing based on Big Data.
Nurse / Blight are best killers in the game, but they are also very hard to play. That's why they can exist.
We had good and easy killers -> Wraith / Freddy and both got nerfed even tho they wasn't that good against better survivors. Forever freddy was BS, but that's it. They overnerfed him hard.
Only thing about Nurse that should get nerfed are range addons. If you really want to nerf her, then you could make her attack from blink special attack, but that would nerf her a lot.

I was honestly thinking the other way around. See if the Killer is by the hook, but not know if your team was going for the save, forcing a decision. Though comms would render that moot.
Yeah, but thing is that SWF don't face that decision. It's super easy to say -> I'm going to unhook / you should do it.
SoloQ can't do it, they have either multiple survivors or noone going for unhook.
Killer aura would help SWF a lot, Survivors aura wouldn't really help them compare to soloQ. It would be really big deal for soloQ.
Killer aura is not something you should get free. You already see other survivors on hook, or downed etc. so survivor aura kindred is not really that big step from there imo.
