Gens literally take longer than in 2020.
The issue for a lot of people is that the new meta of gen regression requires you to play good macro and have good gamesense. Most players liked the CoB, Eruption and Overcharge meta where they didn't have to do anything skillful and got value.
Every slowdown perk except Deadlock and Jolt got nerfed and some faster gen speed perks were created since then.
I have played way before patch where they slowed down gens. It doesn't really feel slower than before imo.
Main combo before that patch was pop, ruin. There is currently not a perk that comes even close to those.
Pop is not bad, but it's way worse. Ruin got nerfed hard.
Pain resonance is decent, but random.
Jolt is good, but it's M1 killers only perk.

Twins, Wesker, Deathslinger, Pinhead
Even when you get inside a gate there is chance I kill you.
Blood warden is also a thing.
-
I don't really have issue with normal killers, but I hate Billy. How his camera goes up and down is really annoying for me. FOB slider wouldn't fix that tho.

Except there’s a bug where if you summon a guard within a few meters of a pallet and the survivor throws the pallet; it sucks the guard into it, destroys the guard and also magically stuns the knight from 5 meters away. So that’s not really an option.
I reported this bug in the PTB, on their Twitter, emailed them. Still there. @BHV if you are hurting for devs, I’m basically a lvl 999 dark wizard dev 😬
I have built entire web based platforms and games by myself. Used 3DS Max to model, texture and animate my own characters.
Or keep these bugs in your game for literal YEARS. Lol
Interesting, it haven't happen to me yet.
I wouldn't really balance around bugs tho.

You can't run away as soon as you hear any TR. 1, you can run directly into killer this way 2, you would be useless for your team. This is especially true when talking about 3gens as killer can position so, that he would be within 15m from all 3 gens at the same time (some maps are small enough to spawn 3 gens in 30m radius).
You know exactly where to run during 3- gen situation.
It doesn't really matter if you run into killer, you would still want to get behind them away from 3-gen.
On some maps you have good line of sight, where you can prerun even before you hear TR, this way killer has no way to commit on you.
Sure, setups like this are separate issues. RPD is most likely worst for this.
But I consider that map issue, not really 3-gen in general.
I think there should be 3-gen on each map, but not this strong. Nurse can hold blink and he able to teleport to each of those gens on RPD easily (with library gen).
Then you have Groaning Storehouse on other side, where you have 2 gens, which you can't really defend unless you have power for movement.

Spirit doesn't, some of her addons do. Same for Blight

You need to summon your guard before survivor fully drop pallet.
It's kinda part of needed skill for him, not really bad thing imo.

If game went free to play we probably wouldn't get stuff like event tome cosmetics and free charms. I believe paid online games are always usually better deals for the consumers.
They still have tons of DLC and skins.
Free base game might not be bad move, it would make it easier for players to bring their friends into DBD, or some people might just try it and see how it goes.
But hacking is still an issue.
-
Kinda sucks he has basically 3 addons.
Good thing is they are brown and yellow, so you will not run out of them.
It sucks when you try to play without Map of the realm addon. Difference is massive, it just feels wrong when I finish summoning guard, can clearly see survivor in front of me, but they just outrun guard detection.
It would be nice if part of that addon was made basekit (nerf addon).
-
I think whole DLC system is slowly getting out of hand. Overall I don't think it would be bad move to make base game free.
But they would have to fix hacking issue first. Free dbd on Epic have created tons of account they can get cheap.
-
I don't really know why they changed it.
Survivors are such a drama queens now.

Trolls gimp your team faster with the current system.
Not really, it's hard but not impossible to win as 3.
But win as 3 when everyone is on dead hook? Good luck with that.

this textbook how you play 3 gens. they very easy to break because killer regression is slow. over-time regression is unhealthy perk design because it create stalemates. Your explanation is sound. Survivor should adept and learn to play 3 gen scenario's as all of them are defeatable as long killer over-time regression stays the same.
Nurse is not that great 3 gens. she can do them... but it is not that good. she's better at chasing more so then defending gens. Blight is good at 3 gens because of his anti-shift w play. I think character that takes cake when it comes to 3 gen is Wesker. I think he is best 3 gen in the game because his infection mechanic has limited supply case of 12 usages and once you deplete all 12 uses, his hindered and instant down capacity makes him close out any match that lasts for too long. This is made easier by his iri add-on known as iri vial that reduces the number of infection sprays by -4. I think he is strongest 3 gen in the game.
I didn't think about Wesker, this sounds annoying. He would be able to get into point where everyone is infected with no spray...
Funny is how everyone complains about Merchant, but I don't think she is best at it. It's just PTSD from her release with CoB.
I can get same or better effect with Demogorgon. I know you are working on gen, I can teleport there and I can setup portal in a way that I can push you into my 3-gen zone. Also STBFL will snowball.
Hag, Demogorgon, Knight, Wesker, Artist can be good too
Skull merchant is not really better than those. Her main issue with her is lethality. If I just hold W away from 3-gen, she is not able to commit.
-
There is counterplay.
You play against Ghostface same as Hag or Trapper.
There should be one survivor who keeps following him and just reveal him all the time.
Even when you get exposed, he is still m1 killer. It's not impossible to get long enough chase to survive it. Depends on map tho.
-
I think it would be good if you made all perks work as if cage = hook.

Well, trapper sucks and Billy also sucks and is hard to play.
I would love to see more billy tho.

on the whole "killer Q-ing up with the intention to hold a three gen is impossible to beat" I think there's a big gap between what's theoretically possible (theoretically you can beat that strat), realistically possible (only if rng is on surv side and they happen to have impeccable comms and happen to have brought the right set of perks), and what is expectable (and here is the whole thing falling apart because beating an intentionally three genning killer isn't worth it - simply because it takes too long). And that last point is the crucial one to me. It should not be possible to extend a match past 20 minutes by simply kicking the same three gens over and over again.
3-gen killer (going into the game with plan to hold 3-gen) is kinda an equivalent of gen rushing SWF (actual genrush with toolboxes and perks).
Both can be hard to beat and both are boring to play against, but they are just rare. Mainly because it's boring for both sides.
People are acting like it's their standard gameplay, but that's just not the case.

As far as I understand, you see this killer as perfectly fine
not perfect, as I said. I would let survivors hack drone even when there is survivor with claw trap nearby.
SWF usually don't care about it, but you can get screwed in soloQ by your teammate running in with claw trap.
Skull merchant wouldn't really be affected much by this change, but it would help soloQ.
-
It didn't really make sense to have selfhealing better than altruistic healing. It is still better, but not that much.
Medkits are still good item.
-
There could be some sort of equivalent of "Second stage" dying for bleed out.
Let's say after 2 minutes (over 50%) you could choose to die (bite your tongue for those who need it to make sense).

this is all playing hypotheticals that the 2 survivors(who hypothetically still are alive) are actively smart enough to work together without any communication, and to some extent hag and maybe skull merchant could be broken..but realistically any decent knight plsyer could at least defend 2 generators at the same time, you keep referring that the coB era is broken,it still exists just not as powerful
guard alone will waste your time, but shouldn't injure you. Logic is also same, you see knight using guard you prerun, so you won't even get to chase with guard.
if there are not even two survivors alive, you lost. No need for complicated system.
If there are not two survivors who know how to win against 3-gen, do they really deserve to win? Seems like git gud issue at that point.
-
same for killers. They have addon rarity restrictions. Also lot of perks are banned to use.
But you can't compare tournament level with public games, it's completely different game.
-
@k3ijus said:
you are right about the map issue, but fixing the map itself would just create more issues- but BHVR did say they would make balanced map changes later on so I’ll take you on that.
But nonetheless 3-gens set up perfectly by killer intentfully are nearly impossible to win against,
sure, you could bring a gen rush build…but is it guaranteed you’ll go against a 3-gen killer?making a whole build to counter something that isn’t even your own fault seems unfair.
once again,3 gens are basically unwinnable.because you need intense communication to break them. 3 gens with 4 survivors(possibly) at least one would always have to work on a gen for it to accurately work. These are results you can’t achieve solo q, and it’s kinda unfair to make solo q matches basically unwinnable just because a killer goes into the match with intent to 3-gen;
and yeah, nurse and blight could probably benefit from 3-gen -but they don’t exist because their playstyle is better benefited from playing on offense than defending a generator like skull merchant and the knight. @DaddyMyers_Mori
they don’t exist because they don't need it.
You think skull merchant is going to win by chasing randomly around the map and using drones on loops? Hell no
It's same for Hag.
Knight can do it tho.
Why do you think 3-gen is impossible to beat now? It was the case during CoB era, but that was broken. All perks of that build were nerfed hard.
You talk about merchant and knight, they are m1 killers. What can they do to you when you prerun from gen and just return when they leave? They are not able to down you fast enough and if they commit, then you will probably win.
You don't really need SWF to beat it, just another survivor who knows how to beat it (so you pressure two gens) is enough.
-

I don't think he's "overperforming", considering it's a bit weird to say "he's not supposed to be that good" when he's not overpowered.
But also I hate going against Wraith and I'm tired of facing him constantly and I would be the last person to complain if he was nerfed to the ground for no reason whatsoever lol.
Well, he is one of free killers and he is not hard to play. It makes sense to see him more than others. Same for Huntress.
But I don't consider him strong killer. Just learn how to force him uncloak on windows / pallets.
-
Why not just make reason for killer to focus different survivors?
BBQ did it well, they are trying to make it against with Pain resonance change, which is good.
Pop and Ruin were good slowdown perks for this too, because killer had to leave hook (unless there was gen with progress next to it).
But without specific perks, what do you gain by hooking survivor who wasn't hooked yet, when you have 1-2 survivors dead on hook? Simply effectiveness of doing that is completely different. It's not really hard concept.
Give me reason why to hook everyone other than your moral code.
It's also how survivors play. If you are dead on hook, you are supposed to play save, but when you go unhook in front of me, I should ignore you or what?
-
@k3ijus said:
@DaddyMyers_Mori interesting. You are right about majority of this-but there are a couple issues.
like I stated- I said KILLERS do the 3-gen- not the survivors. While a 3-gen caused by survivors is completely their fault and mistake, a killer however can purposely go into a game and set up a 3 gen, and guard that area for entire match. But with a perfect squad-(R.I.P to solo q survivors, they must be irrelevant) you could organize a team to follow your steps 1-3,but there are issues even with that!
1-anti-gen perks exist and if a killer is going into a game with intent to 3-gen- high chance their whole build is gonna be anti- gen perks
2-once again- if a killer is going into a game with intent to 3-gen- their probably not gonna choose a offensive killer, and will probably stick to perfect 3-gen killers like skull merchant and knight
3-and with the right map rng,a map can be completely unwinnable if the killer has line of sight of all 3 gems-or are set up in a way that benefits the killer.
I said KILLERS do the 3-gen- not the survivors.
Most 3-gen situations were done by survivors. Killer will try to force it when there are 2 gens left, but it makes sense if I see good setup and one gen away, why would I care about gen away?
killer however can purposely go into a game and set up a 3 gen
Sure, but it's rare and it's done one specific maps like RPD, but as I said, that's map issue. Just fix gen spawns, no need for complicated progress system.
1-anti-gen perks exist and if a killer is going into a game with intent to 3-gen- high chance their whole build is gonna be anti- gen perks
There are perks to help you finish gens? You can use them to counter it.
2-once again- if a killer is going into a game with intent to 3-gen- their probably not gonna choose a offensive killer, and will probably stick to perfect 3-gen killers like skull merchant and knight
It's not impossible to break 3-gen after CoB nerfs. Even against Hag, merchant, knight. Funny is they are not best at it, Blight or Nurse will always have better 3-gen, but they don't need to use it.
3-and with the right map rng,a map can be completely unwinnable if the killer has line of sight of all 3 gems-or are set up in a way that benefits the killer.
So again, map issue, not 3-gen issue.

Oh, yay another funny post after your 3-gen post. Let's see...

Tell me you have never played tombstone myers without telling me you have never played tombstone myers.
A blight that can inflict Exposed with last rush paired with alchemist ring
exposed addon is fine, it's quite gample, but everyone knows alchemist ring should be nerfed
It's dumb to try "ban" some combinations. You are just not supposed to have that strong addons in first place on both sides.
I think most players would be happy with basekit Myers buffs and nerfing his mori addons, but he is like Sadako. He sucks basekit, but have good iri addons to make them viable. I don't think it's good, but you are definetly not supposed to ban anything for them.
Should it be fixed? Yes
Should it be fixed by banning combinations? No
-
3-gens aren’t the issue
Oh, it's not an issue, so let's nerf the hell out of it. Makes sense...
3-gen is impossible to break?
That's simply not true after CoB nerf. First of all, you are supposed to get rid of 3-gen first. But most survivors just work on first gen they see, then cry on forum about 3-gen, even tho it's their fault.
So for dummies, how do you break 3-gen:
1) work on gen
2) killer is walking towards you -> start running away from gens
3) killer walks back towards different gen -> go work on gen
4) repeat till killer commits or you finish that gen
There are some nasty setups, where it is very hard to break it without good team, but that's map issue, not 3-gen issue. Most maps don't have it that strong.
You are new player and don't know gen spawns? Use Detective's Hunch. It's really good perk that will help you find gens and totems. So you can see 3-gen and break it before late game.

That seems more like a flaw in the design of the claw trap, if there is no incentive not to continually have them attached while the skull merchant isn’t around.
Far as I’m concerned the drone becoming unhackable, especially to every survivor, if a claw trap enters the radius is a bandage fix for hacking a drone not really having any long-term consequences given the battery life of claw traps.
I wouldn't make it that drone is unhackable for everyone, just for the survivor who has claw trap.
It's supposed to be trade off -> get rid of drone (area control), but merchant gets information + speed boost.
But that wouldn't work if one survivor could hack all drones.
Claw trap is kinda big deal for merchant. It can help her even when she is not close to you (info + speed bost) and if you get to chase with claw trap, she can kinda ignore pallets and force you to vault it, so it gets destroyed. You also can't mind game while having claw trap.
-
-buff tier 3 (higher movement speed would be nice)
-buff tier 1 (need less stalk to get tier 2)
-stalking should have same gain, doesn't matter distance
-higher cap (I think there should be cap on stalk, so you don't have one player feed him tier 3 all the time)
-nerf the hell out of mori addons
-
It's not good perk on most killers, but I can see buba with tinkerer and machine learning.

How about a set number of drones that run out like pig hats? So the killer needs to plan and be more strategic with where they are placed? Maybe save a couple for end game, etc. Might cut down on matches being so tedious and long.
It wouldn't really make sense for survivors to remove them in few seconds. Pig also have secondary power (antiloop + stealth).
And Pig is weak killer.

Question for you, why shouldn't Survivors be able to hack drones with a Claw Trap on?
So you could have one survivor deny all your drones.
SWF would have one player who would just run around the map and hack all drones. Kinda what they are supposed to do against Hag, Trapper, Ghostface.
There wouldn't really be any trade off. You would have only one source for speed boost and could see only one survivor. She would get way worse and basically lose her whole power against decent teams.

But talking strictly from balance perspective, I could agree w your accessment to the whole post u made before. Maybe talking wesker I would limit infection to not progress in chase only after unhook, but that's not a huge difference.
Yeah, with Wesker only issue is tunneling. When you are slowed, there is not much you can do about him. He is otherwise fun killer for both sides imo.

Category of "hate" is not really any killer, just some addon combinations are annoying. I hate Rusty Shackles Hag for sure.

That I gutted whole comment? Yeah, I know. I was just trying to focus on changes, not arguments.
I can see how it would make her more interesting to play for sure. I am not going to take away that.
As you said, stealth is not one of her strengths. It's just kinda there. Sometimes help, most of times useless.
Your change would help this aspect for sure, but it still wouldn't make her good stealth killer. Well, if you make her to linger stealth for 15 seconds, that would be massive for sure. First part is just QoL change imo.
Issue with focusing on stealth is that it's map dependent.
It wouldn't work at all with those suggestions to remove drones to work on multiple floors too... That's where stealth gets good.

Well, I see you in many posts and even mine I see you criticizing
So what do you think of the suggestions of others here?
Ok, I am going to read whole post just for you.
Just delete her
Yeah, that would help for sure... So original suggestion
Drop the Exposed condition from her power, it's not really adding much value.
they could keep the tracking utility and then you could give her a secondary chase oriented power directly or have her drones give her buffs with no delay or requirement like standing still so they can be more effective tools at a loop.
It's better idea than mca240's, because there is some attempt for valid compensation.
Exposed status as I explained earlier is big deal of power, she wouldn't work without it.
This idea would want to go with drones only tracking + speed boost and instead of exposed status give antiloop secondary power. Sure, that might work overall, but we have a lot of antiloop killers already and main issue is: too much work. BHVR will not do that major change on new killer.
Start end game collapse after 24 minutes and 59 seconds pass. Any remaining survivors will be killed by the entity and not count as kills for the killer.
That would fix hiding survivors too, so I don't see this as skull merchant idea. It might help against cheaters holding game hostage, because you would have exact time where each game had to end, so you could forcefully end it on server.
Great idea imo. Probably would increase it to at least 30, but that's just number change.
-Drones that exposes a Survivor loses it detection radius and will instead solely follow after the first or closest Survivor
-Drones that get hacked causes a cooldown before SM can put another one down.
-Giving SM remote control over her drones where it switch the FOV from SM over the drones
-Drones can no longer detect through multiple floors.
When survivor gets exposed drone follow them. Seems kinda like pointless change. Why not just get claw trap instead as survivor to deny her a drone completely? Seems complicated with little benefit to me. I don't think this is either nerf or buff.
Drones get hacked gives cooldown would be really annoying for skull merchant. It would help SWF, because they could deny her power when some survivor is in chase with her. I really don't like this idea. This wouldn't really prevent 3-gen holding, but it would hurt her while trying to chase other survivors, which is probably not what you want. Movement speed change on clawtrap was mode to help her chase survivors, this is doing opposite.
Remote control would be again too much work, we are going to have Singularity for that too, so kinda copy paste.
Drones can no longer detect through multiple floors. I really don't like that change. This allows you to be kinda inovative with your dron placement. It would get kinda brainless without it. When I play against her I always make calls what gens to get rid of first, because I know it's going to be pain to leave them into end game. If you have gen above basement, you have to get rid of it asap.
So summary -> those nerfs would hurt overall gameplay of skull merchant (feeling of playing her), but not really 3-gen. Those buffs are not realistic changes.
I can't be bothered on AssortedSorting' idea. Most of it is just bad or too complicated.
Genuinely, I think survivors need a way to take away drones more permanently.
Do I really have to explain why is it bad idea to let survivors deny killer's power?
You already can deny her power as long you have claw trap, but it gives her speed boost. I really liked that change. It's kinda trade off. I guess it would be fine to increase battery, if you don't like her drones. It wouldn't really hurt her.
No longer activate drones by distance, so she have to move if she wants to activate it
That's just stupid. You want to complain about 3-gen, but make her unable to leave 3-gen?
Remove the startup period for Undetectable, you just get it as soon as you enter a drone's radius. Given that it takes a few seconds for your terror radius to entirely shrink when you get Undetectable, I don't think that would be too strong.
I mean, sure. I don't really consider her stealth killer from start, her stealth is kinda weak on most maps. If you want to give her buff then sure, but I don't think it would change much. Stealth is not one of her strength. It can give you free hit, but it's not really reliable part of her power.
Well what about her perks?
Sucks.
THWACK! - shouldn't make you scream, it sucks that you get to know your aura was revealed.
Game Afoot - useless, impossible to save. You can create a meme build with it (rancor), but that's it.
Leverage - It's simply too limited and takes too long to get decent effect, there are way better perks for this.
So only thing that I would do:
Survivor with clawtrap is still unable to hack other drones, but it doesn't make drones active -> this is just little help to soloQ, but wouldn't hurt merchant that bad.

I think I have been pretty clear really. She is weak, underpowered. But once she 3-gens the game goes on forever which is boring as hell. So no one even wants to go there and just goes next asap. Her whole power needs to change. If my idea was “too weak” she can be buffed accordingly.
It doesn't goes on forever tho. CoB made it last forever, but that whole build, each perk got huge nerf.
3-gen is not Skull merchant issue, I can get same effect with other killers. They said they are working on fix anyway, so even less skull merchant issue.
Her changes in midseason patch helped a lot for both sides, have you even tried to play her since then? I highly doubt it. I can send you some valid builds if you want.
So simply:
-she is not weak, far from that. There are way weaker killers that need help.
-3-gen is not Skull merchant issue and it's supposed to get fixed anyway.

Main issue is that it's kinda an equivalent of soloQ stomping perk (old Eruption), but against killers.
You think Nurse or Blight are going to care about 3% faster? Hell no.
This perk will just help you bully weak killers even more. 3% against m1 killer without antiloop power is pretty big deal.
I know for sure, I am not going to touch Legion for some time if this perk gets live.

- Nobody plays her
- Everyone complains about her
- Everyone DCs or kills themselves on hook against her
- All Skull Merchants 3 gen because no other build is viable
And you’re claiming is this killer is fine as she is? Either you’re blind, deaf or seriously in denial. Thanks for making me laugh, you do have a sense of humor after all
- I do (most killers are not played much anyway) Twins or Hag have way lower pick rate. So doesn't matter.
- Not really, people just have PTSD from her before changes and CoB nerfs.
- That's more of an issue of survivors. They do it against lot of killers.
- I don't, there are alternative builds. Most skull merchants I played against didn't. This is just lasting effect from CoB era.
Decide what is issue, is she too strong or too weak. You keep switching between those two all the time, you can't have both.
Noone plays her and she has nothing going on -> too weak
everybody complains and DC against her -> too strong/oppresive
Btw your points don't really work. If noone plays her, how can anyone DC against her, or how can they hold 3-gen without playing her?

At least I am offering sollutions. And in no way it is a final draft. You’re just here being sour and not adding any solution.
She currently also has nothing going for her except getting haste from claw traps. Or do you think putting down a drone at a loop is of much help?
So tell me…what antiloop power should she get in your opinion? Dying to hear about your ideas!
I don't think there is need to change her in any major way. Why would I suggest anything? I will just say why your suggestions are bad or pointless.
She gets information, speed boost and can deny whole area for period of time. That's not really weak.
Her exposed status is big deal, you really really don't want to get that while healthy. She wouldn't work as a killer without it.
So on loops she can drop her drone and survivor have to leave that loop and most likely get injured. They can't stay there, or they get exposed. This wouldn't work with your change, at all. She can already see me, why would I care about her drone?
The hell you mean nothing going on? I can't tell if you want to buff her, but suck at it or nerf her and try to hide it as a buff....
She is one of best killers to use hex totems. Ruin, or Devour are kinda must have to make her effective.
