I'm done commenting on "Ban camping" threads. It just boils down to "REEEEEEE" on both sides and I'm not gonna bother. Yall don't wanna listen and just wanna #########. So go for it. Devs arn't gonna change it cause they'd have to change literally the whole game or there "Fix" gets abused. Get over it, or play a different game.

This isn't a "ban camping" thread. It's a "give the camped survivor an incentive to stay" thread.

Hmm. At some point in your argument are you going to make a case as to why another should save you? You've already declared that when you aren't having fun you suicide or leave the match. Somehow I don't think you want others to do that should they be the one who messed and were caught. Your post rings selfish and ironic. The irony being that you want someone else to save you, an unselfish act, while threatening or at least insinuating not doing so will end with you being selfish.

Here is a solution. Get good and don't get caught. Then you won't get face camped. There is no entitlement to BP. You play skillfully and earn it or you do without. It's the same for killer and survivor.

What are you talking about? No, I don't want the other survivors to come save me when I'm being camped. That's suicide. I specifically suggested a distraction bp event for ppl that get camped. I mean, at that point, the killer is getting bp for standing there doing nothing. The survivor should get something for literally not being able to do anything for a solid 2 whole minutes.

  • @Swiftblade131 said:

If all 3 survivors confirmed the face camp. Which is even easier on comms with friends. Do the gens.

The killer won't do anything to stop you. You do gens faster than the sacrifice will come. 3 survivors get out, killer gets punished at doesn't rank up, which will hopefully draw people away from face camping.

However, seeing as I see somewhat skillful killers face camping, something leads me to believe. That survivors are rewarding the killer by trying to attempt a rescue either alone or poorly in a group and get destroyed, there for the killer thinks it works more often than it actually does.

Long story short, do the gens. 3 survive. Killers get punished.

Why is this so hard to grasp?

The way that the game currently works, if I'm not playing with friends, and I'm being camped, I'm just going to die as fast as I can. It's not worth it for me to remain. I don't care if the other survivors get gens done because I'm wasting my time by staying in the match, because it's just not fun to sit there doing nothing for 2 whole minutes, not playing the game, for 500bp. That's 2 minutes I could be spending finding another match to play. This so called "punishment" is meaningless for the person on the hook. Now there are 3 survivors left, with the possibility of 5 gens remaining.

  • Give in to who? The devs themselves said that it is a legit strategy. So far as to add perks that make it easier to do so. And by staying on the hook, you are preventing a killer from going after anyone else. It's the same as distracting them while running, just with less effort. Either make it worth their time, or punish the killer. And punishment is never received well. Chances are that no one would even care if it was implemented. Only complaining about the suggestion. Because it affects no one while making the game more fun for those that didn't notice meyers or ghost face stalking them 10 seconds after the match started. (Not everyone can just run spine chill)

giving a BP Boost for people being camped isn't a good idea in the slightest.

it rewards you slightly more for doing absolutely nothing.

you may not be doing absolutely nothing by choice, but seriously, who cares? just get another game and make tons more bp.. you don't deserve to be given bonus bp for not doing anything because someone else did something you didn't like..

i'm not even sure i can wrap my head around that logic.. "you should pay me more as if i did more than i did because it could very well have been someone else's fault that i didn't do as much as i would have liked to"

Okay. I accept your post. From now on, I'll disconnect to get into another match from now on. Man, such a great idea. Can't fathom why I hadn't thought of it in the first place.

You are not the only one that feels this way. The majority of the player base agrees that the current struggle phase is problematic for a variety of reason, myself included, and there have been countless threads created about this exact issue and potential solutions.

The easiest and most simple solution would be to change the button mash to a button hold. Nothing changes gameplay wise as you can still let go to give up, while also making it far more accessible. This alone would solve practically every single complaint about the struggle phase, while also keeping it “interactive”. At the very least just give players the option to change it in the settings.

I really don’t know how many times we need to have this conversation before the devs finally listen and do something about it, but I will continue being vocal about it until they do.

Yeah, I can see just holding a button. I would even say that a skill check would be better. Given the idea that more blood points be given if you succeed said checks. I've just had so many cases where I was sacrificed because my finger slipped or even that I was mashing the button, but the game didn't receive the input for lag reasons, or whatever, and I died immediately as that phase started with others running to unhook me.

Ds end game by itself is pretty much a garunteed escape..plus bt..now you want invulnerability for the unhooker too? You clearly arnt seeing the big picture..this would be abused to hell and back

Honestly, as far as big picture matters, the main thing I want is for there to be a BP event for distracting a killer when they camp. That would mean that you get sacrificed, but could still afford a common item for someone literally taking the entire game from you. That's a solid minute after having to wait however long for the matchmaker to put you into the game. What's the point in staying at then? Zero punishment for a BP event.

If you're being facecamped, stick it out and move on. There's nothing you can do but start another game and leave with the satisfaction that you got so far into the Killer's head they threw the game to kill you.

Satisfaction? What satisfaction. That you could do literally nothing for a solid minute for a BP reward not worth it? You might as well DC and start a new match. Seriously. That's no satisfaction. In a game all about the grind, that's nothing. Less than nothing in some cases. Maybe it'll be different when the devs alter the bloodweb, but as it is now, I don't blame survivors that DC when camped.

So the fact that the Killer gets BP means they should be happy if the game or a broken mechanic denied them a single kill?

'No, don't try to do good. Be happy you got BP. Even though the game said you lost. Survivors get to escape but you got BP. Better luck not getting anyone because of a broken mechanic next game!'

Lost? No game ever says that you lost. There's no such thing. BP and rank pips are the only things that even give you a semblance or progression. I've had no kill matches as a killer that were more fun than 4k matches. And more rewarding. If you actually pay attention to the lore of the game and to what the game deems important, you would realize that escape and death mean nothing in the long run. Remember the tag line of the game? "Death is not an escape." Neither mean anything more than the BP you earn for them.

  • In fact, as a player that has been hooked, I have sped up the sacrifice process before to spite the other survivors for staying as far away from me as possible, so gen rushing is no incentive

  • @Awakey said:

    Yes it does.

    It's called generators.

Or BT if you want to get spicy.

Already covered both in detail. Neither give the camped player a reason to not just leave the game. And since survivors will DC for seemingly no reason sometimes, there really shouldn't be more reasons for them to do so.

But then people can just chase around the hook...then abuse this..plus it Grant's God mode and game

Not if, similar to DS, it's only usable once. Even in the lore of the Entity, the survivors are meant to have hope for which the killer crushes. A complete lack of hope makes people not want to even play the game.

Imagine you're a new Killer who hooks his first Survivor.

Then the game kicks you in the junk with any number of 'punishment' ideas/gives a free, unstoppable unhook to Survivors who abuse a badly thought out mechanic. Now your sure kill turns into a 4-man escape outside your control.

They aren't going to want to play again. And without Killers, we no longer have a game.

Here's the thing, though. You still get a decent amount a BP for it. I've had many no kill matches where I earned over 20k. The point of playing a game is to have fun. And camping is the only thing I've experienced when playing a survivor that made me consider never playing one again. After playing the game for over 2 years.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664630#Comment_664630

You mentioned the problem yourself. The amount you get, that's not abuseable would be too less to really motivate people to not leave and the amount you get, that's abuseable, would be enough to let people stay.

But at the very least gaining enough to get a common item would keep many from just leaving the game. Or even adding a perk that allows you to get off the hook while being camped at the end of the timer to just have a chance before being dead on hook. Chances are that the killer is just going to down you immediately, but still.

Like I said before, slugging has a counter. Flip Flop, Unbreakable, Buckle up, etc. Tunneling has a counter. Borrowed time. The closest thing Camping has to a counter is Deliverance, which will get you caught immediately if you're being camped.

A reward for failure is never good. Bump the total points for Struggling to 700.

Say someone just started the game and gets face camped while they are still trying to learn how to play. Chances are that they aren't going to want to play again. If we don't have survivors to kill, we no longer have a game. This is not just a way to reward "failure," as it rewards the person distracting the killer, allowing gen rushing, but it's a way to retain players, as well.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664606#Comment_664606

    It's how i mentioned:

Case1: Stay on your hook and explain to the low rank killer at the end why facecamping is a bad strategy.

Case2: You was toxic, now the killer is toxic too. Good job.

Case3: It's a meme game. Laugh about it and start memeing too.

I understand your point, really, but a BP bonus for camping would maybe be abused by farmers to get ridiculous amounts of BP in a short time.

Not really. It would only be abused if the amount you could get was abusable. And it's only obtainable if the killer waits there for you to die, in a category you can already gain points in. If the cap was just barely enough for the match to be worth it, you would still want to do other things to get BP. If the maximum you could gain from the event was for a common add-on, offering, etc. from the bloodweb AND required the killer to just stand there for you to get it, it wouldn't be worth trying to exploit it. Just like the laughable amount you can get from struggling isn't enough for people to try to get on the hook to obtain it.

  • @Peanits Does this seem plausible? Not a change to game as it is played, just adding a BP even related to how long someone is camped to give them a reason to stay.

  • I'm just proposing a BP boost for people being camped. Why does this seem to be an issue? It would be in a field already there. Probably boldness or altruism. Obviously not objective or survival. It wouldn't even affect the killer. LIke, in any way.

Doing gens is great for the other survivors. But only for as long as the camped player is on the hook. Which won't be very long if they just DC or mash buttons to get sacrificed quicker. I get that a lot of players already stay as long as they can to keep the killer from doing anything else, but that is not always the case. It doesn't even change the game. It's still played the same as long as people remain to actually play the game. In no way does this actually change what can be done. Just adds to the reward system while it's being played.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664570#Comment_664570

That's the player tho. I still see your point. Look at it that way:

You get in the game and hear a nurse scream. You know you are not good against nurse. So you dc to get in the next game faster. Should nurse be changed in some way because of you now? No, of course not. If you would stayed in that game you likely would have died, but maybe improved your gameplay against nurse in some way. You likely gonna do better against nurse next time.

Nearly the same thing with facecamp. If the player is not just dying on the hook and struggles till the end he buys a lot of time for his mates and maybe even gets saved.

    It's a big picture.

"The big picture" does not matter if you are a survivor in a match with randos. Likely, you don't care if they escape.

And no, nurfing the nurse would change the game itself. I'm proposing a quality of life change that incentivizes remaining in the game. The person camping still camps, but the person being camped feels less the need to just leave. It's literally just a small boost to BP for people getting camped. Idk why this seems to be an issue.

You would not get enough of a bonus from BBQ if you simply camped one person, either he wasn't camping, or, you are lying.

Look,I may be exaggerating a bit, but it doesn't matter. The point still remains. Nowhere did I say that anything should be done to get rid of it. I don't care. Let a killer camp. I just want each match to be worth playing. I see so many people complaining about DC's being rampant, and being camped is the one reason I see the most as being a reason for people to DC. Why not just give them a reason to not DC? Even from a Killer's perspective. Quitter's Bonus goes straight to deviousness, not sacrifice. That doesn't make up for the DC. Just use your power, and you get deviousness. It's a waste for both parties. Why not just give the survivor an incentive to stay. It literally costs the killer nothing.

You have proved yourself a liar. The maximum BP in a match is 32K without any offerings. And evidently I am to believe that you are singled out and camped every game. Nice bait, kid.

Also, this post adds nothing to the statement.

Wow, way to target someone for no reason. No, some perks add BP after a match, similar to offerings, so your statement is false.

  • Or hell, make a perk similar to Borrowed Time. You stay near a hooked player for X amount of time while in the killer's terror radius. When it triggers, you can't be downed or grabbed while unhooking someone, and if the down you while you use a protected hit event within 10 seconds of unhooking someone, you just go into deep wound status. To incentivise unhooking a camped survivor.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

You can motivate killers to not facecamp, if you just do gens. Low rank killers, that think that's a good strategy, learn it that way. Explain in post game chat tho.

And most important as survivor: Don't be toxic. The killer decides how he'll play in the match and if you teabag him and click with your flashlight, like some Youtubers do, he'll more likely facecamp.

Sure, sometimes you meet a very enthusiastic LF-Player with a true king basement build, even on higher ranks. Then you just need to hope for a good DS/BT/DH play by you or your mates, but most high rank killers don't play like that cause it gives you literally no BP.

Hope that my advise can be helpful.

No, I get it. I can see camping as a strategy. I'm not in any way saying that it should be removed. More, I'm saying there needs to be an incentive for the camped player to actually stay in the game. Otherwise, you end up with people disconnecting so that they can just get to the next game faster.

  • For those of you mentioning depipping. No, that's not an incentive. I once mentioned that to someone before for camping. They still made over 50k without an offering. It's clearly meaningless to killers that are going to do it. Rank and pips aren't going to stop anyone when the number one way for anyone to gain anything from a match is bp. And I've been in matches where the killer camped and got a good 15k more than anyone else.

    @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/664551#Comment_664551

It is clear you have never been to a high rank. Red rank, even purple rank, Killers know that camping will always get them a de pip. Just rank up and you won't have to deal with them anymore.

It's really difficult to get through the lower ranks when all they do is prevent you from even playing the game. Which is exactly what camping does.

And for everyone mentioning to gen rush. That literally does nothing for the person on the hook Which means that they might as well leave the match. Which cancels your gen rush.

You see what I mean? There's no incentive for the camped player to even stay. They might as well just DC and play a different match.

  • @Sauceman_Tim said:

    Do gens = escape

Do gens = people not on hook escape. Why would I not just DC or sacrifice myself to play a different match if I'm not going to get enough BP to progress the game. Less than 3k and a match isn't worth staying in.

  • @Sackboy123 said:

Well if you Die on the hook when you're being camped you're literally saying it's ok to camp, killers camp because the strategy works, either people rush the hook and get themselves killed or people die on the hook therefore other survivors are going to get camped and eventually die. Wasting the Killers time and just letting him depip from just one kill is the only way they're going to learn it doesn't work against competent Survivors.

The devs have already stated that it is ok to camp. Insidious actively promotes the action. I'm not saying to do things that get rid of it being used. I'm saying that it would be great if the devs added something so that the person being camped didn't feel like the match was a waste of time. Because if it's a waste of time, you might as well just play a different game.

As a killer main, I avoid tunneling, slugging, and camping, but only one of those has no effective way of countering. If you time it right, borrowed time is meaningless, as you can just catch the person doing the unhook action. Adrenaline does nothing if you're already on the hook. Kindred lets people know they should ignore you if you're being camped. Other people doing gens does nothing for you. You might as well just leave the game, screwing over the survivors trying to utilize the fact that killer is busy by making it so they aren't busy. And since survivors will already DC for any conceivable reason, you really shouldn't give them one up front.

  • So really, what I'm proposing is that the devs add a blood point event for survivors being camped. It doesn't punish the killer for doing something that is incentivized, while giving the survivor an actual reason to not sacrifice themself or DC. Because atm, there is no reason for an early hooked survivor being camped to not just leave the game. And positive reinforcement always works better than negative reinforcement.

This way, the killer can still do what they want, the remaining survivors can do what they want, and the camped survivors have a reason to stay.

  • Doing gens actually counters literally nothing. It is a way for other survivors to utilize the killer's lack of attention. But if screw up early on, or a Meyers finds a sweet spot, or even a Ghost Face, and I'm on the hook in less than a minute, what's to stop me from just mashing RB till I die to leave the match? Like, at that point, I don't care about the other survivors because I'm no longer having fun. If 3 gens get done while I'm sitting there doing nothing with no chance at earning BP, I'm not gonna just stay there for the benefit of other survivors unless I'm playing SWF, which I never do.

Tl;Dr: Doing gens is meaningless for the person on the hook. So why even remain in the game?

  • Doing gens is only a counter for those not being camped. I mean specifically for the person doing gens. Something that encourages the person being camped to not sacrifice themself or DC. And there is nothing for that ATM.

  • If the idea of the mask is that with it on he can pass for normal, and with it off his true colors are shown, wouldn't it make more sense if his terror radius was bigger with it off, as he would then be more terrifying? This would also fit with the oblivious status effect. Get a hit with the mask on, remove it while they can't hear heartbeat.

Also, for it to be balanced, I think stunning should at the very least get rid of bloodlust. Same if you land a hit. I could also see the speed while unmasked being a tad slower. Not sure how fair it would be if you could keep up with a survivor after being hit with a pallet since it's purpose is to help you escape.

  • I actually like the chase music. In the corn fields especially, as there were times that I only noticed there was a survivor there because the chase music started. Lol.

  • @Sneaky_Dwight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/612171#Comment_612171

No, we don't need to reopen this topic.

    Camping is a legit tactic.

Anyone asking for punishments is basically saying 'I don't like how you play, cater to me'.

Hook camping punishes the Killer by allowing Survivors roughly 2 minutes, 30 seconds to 3+ minutes of uninterrupted repair time, if you add in the chase before hooking someone.

It only takes 80 seconds (1 minute, 20 seconds) to solo a generator. So Survivors can literally solo TWO generators each if a Killer hook camps till death. That 6 generators...out of 5 needing to be done.

So stop asking for punishments. Hook camping is legit, and a bad idea anyways.

Hook camping may allow the other survivors more time to gen rush, but as the survivor being camped, I no longer care what the other survivors do. I'm now stuck with very few blood points, and the whole match is a waste of time for me. That's why people are upset by the tactic. Even if all 3 other survivors get away, that's great, but I'm still punished. As a killer main, when I want to spice things up as a survivor, I want to make sure that my time spent is worth it. When the killer is just standing there, waiting for someone to show up, he's not chasing anyone else. There should be a distraction blood point event for survivors that get camped. Campers are never going to stop, especially when they measure their victory based on whether or not ther get a kill. I don't care if I get sacrificed. Sometimes dying is just as fun as escaping. This really is the "It's not whether you win or lose" kind of situation, because neither truly exist in this game. Punishment is just negative reinforcement, which never gets through to anyone. You want survivors to stop complaining, enforce a positive method instead. A distraction event makes it so a camped survivor doesn't feel like they are wasting their time. Someone that thinks their time spent is worth it will keep coming back. It encourages new players and makes old ones happy without punishing anyone. The killer is only affected as much as they are now, which is practically not at all. In fact, granting blood points to camped survivors doesn't negatively affect anyone, nor does it affect killers at all.

Also, as you mentioned that it's a bad idea, there are perks that make it a great idea. I went up against a camper once. I was the only one sacrificed. All the other survivors won about 10k-12k blood points. The killer, because of perks, add-ons, and offerings, obtained over 40k. So, yeah, it can be worth it. Unless, of course, you don't care about blood points.

  • Honestly, they really just needed to address the exploits. Not seeing scratch marks or blood got rid of walk back exploit. Now, infinite loops can beat ff, and you just aren't fast enough to catch anyone that isn't right next to you, so being shown locations is almost pointless. Vaulting pallets is now pointless without the legion pin, which itself makes deep wound 100% useless now that the terror radius stops the timer.

  • @Madjura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/607802#Comment_607802

That makes it much better but I still don't think it would be very effective, nothing is stopping the killer from just hitting you again

More bloodpoints are always fine as long as it's not absurd (basically anything that isn't "Get 1 million bloodpoints" is reasonable). This could become a problem though with survivors getting mad because the killer ISN'T camping: I can definitely see survivors play as toxicly as possible ("Trash killer uninstall" as name or something of the like, flashlight spam macro, constant teabag) and then flaming the killer when they get ignored or he doesn't facecamp. I will admit that this seems very unlikely but considering the absolutely idiotic things I have seen happen in this game makes it seem like it's a possibility

Yeah, toxic survivors will complain about anything and everything. But if the killer stops camping, then someone can just unhook them. But this way, it stays a usable strategy, and no one gets punished. And just make it like the bleeding event or struggle event. Don't trigger it while the killer is camping, trigger it after they stop or the sacrifice is complete. That sort of thing.

  • I see people mentioning rewarding the killer for leaving. I have a better idea. So face camping 90% of time leads to an easy kill for the person being camped. For a new player especially, as new killers camp more than veteran killers, this is extremely discouraging, and as new players, they don't have access to the so-called "survivor starting pack" of perks. However, by being camped, they are keeping the killer occupied, pulling some heat off the other survivors. Reward them for it. Distraction blood point event. The longer they're camped, the more blood points they earn.

How bout it @Peanits? That sound workable? Makes being camped less frustrating, and still allows camping to be a legitimate strategy.

  • @Madjura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/604724#Comment_604724

Useless for legitimate situations as you already point out

Too easy to find situations to abuse it, other survivors can just loop near the hook to give you a free escape

In the end camping is not the trash, camping is the flies that are attracted by the trash. The trash being the worthless rank system that makes the consequence of camping, making it harder to rank up, irrelevant. Ideally campers would be in the ranks where the rank rewards are not awarded but those still don't exist, over 3 years since release

If it's cancelled during a chase, it wouldn't be free. Forgot to mention that part.

  • How bout this then. Instead, make it so that a survivor's timer isn't accelerated by attempting to escape the hook while being face camped. The timer still progresses normally, but you have a better chance of just escaping. Sure, the killer can just down you, but it gives a slight chance to someone that has no chance.

  • @Sairek

So, there is actually a way to predict what the Spirit is doing. See, even when the spirit is invisible, she still triggers crows. I know this is minor, but it is still a way to figure out what she is doing.

  • I'm kinda getting annoyed at the people saying you have to be really good to get p3. I have 3 lvl 50 killers (enough bp spent for p3, I just don't think it's worth it) and have never made it above rank 14. Also, I have played as a killer I was already good with to get enough bp to get another killer I wanted to try out up to lvl 15 for the perks and add ons. So a p3 killer doesn't even indicate that they have ever ever played that killer before.

  • It is and it isn't. Much of the game has a focus for survivors to help each other, but then there is Loan Survivor, a perk that only functions if everyone else is dead. The devs made the game for you to play how you want. I think the wrong way to go about the game is the belief that you need to "win." This game has no real winners. Benedict Baker's Journal describes the killers as people forced to do the entity's bidding, and the survivors are trapped indefinitely, whether they're sacrificed or not. I've played matches where I escaped and got 7000 bp, and matches where I was sacrificed and got over 20,000. There's a reason why survivors are listed in the order of who got the most bp at the results screen.

  • Yeah, it would be cool if each map had something different for the objective. I like the idea of having to find a battery first for gens. But then it would make sense to lower time for gens. Or, make the battery optional, and it auto fills a section of the Gen with a battery limit per Gen.

  • As a killer main, I'm glad head on is getting fixed. It means iron maiden may not be entirely useless.

  • I agree with op. As a killer main myself, I generally try to go after the savior anyway. I try to keep things fun for the survivors, especially since there are so many killers that play toxic and overall just make the game unfun.

  • Perks and add ons that trigger when someone gets hooked or downed should trigger when someone leaves the match.

Fun story. I was playing survivor, and the first person the killer downed dced immediately. The killer then proceeded to lead us all to the gens to finish the match and escape.

  • Honestly, I think the worst thing is the combination of needing the power guage maxed and missing cancelling the frenzy. If either one of those were gone, Legion would be fine. Missing and being punished for a survivor running in a tight circle somehow avoiding a hit makes Legion not fun anymore.

  • As far as lore goes, it could be like alien vs predator requiem. All the xenomorphs in that movie we're in a small town.

  • I've had players disconnect right as I hook them. It's kinda stupid. The killer still gets the sacrifice, and now we also get a boost to brutality for a quitter bonus.

  • Just being faster than the survivors is a boon. Sure, you have to hit them a good 3 or 4 times to down someone, but deep wound will become 100% useless with the update if frenzy attacks no longer lower the timer as they do now, combined with the timer pausing if you're within the legion's terror radius.
