The real question is... how many people are still running Lightborn?

I saw a Freddy running Lightborn this morning. There was still Flashbang or Blast Mine, so it can still make sense to run the perk even when flashlights are killswitched.

  • Whenever the devs get around to releasing the Killer bots for custom matches, there would be that mode to play. Idk when that will come about though...

  • @Snowball777 said:

You can still message people even when SoloQ, on Xbox I could just message someone and say "Hey the Killer has NOED, watchout".

There should absolutely be icons showing who queued up with each other in the end game screen however, no reason to hide who is SWF when the game is already over.

And what are the odds that the person is going to check their messages in the middle of the match? I would say slim and none.

  • Just because a perk is "not required to work the same way as older perks" is not a good reason to make it different.

  • And how would you pull that off without destroying solo Survivors?? There's no way they can nerf SWFs without affecting solos in a very negative way.

I dont talk about me, why do you suggest I should lower my MMR? This would suggest I should play bad on purpose or I should use several afk-games or whatever to keep losing. Is this the game-experience the other side, here the survivors, want?

I dont know what MMR I have and I dont care either, because it doesnt matter. Low MMR, High MMR, Rank, Grade, Prestige etc.

In the end you always receive the same Bloodpoints. Its always 3.000 for finishing a gen, 100 for breaking a breakable wall etc.

There is no reward for being High or Low or whatever.

Well, you've just proven my point that tunneling is not "more necessary than ever" if you don't care about winning or losing.

  • @KaTo1337 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/390274/tunneling-needs-to-be-adressed

If you look at the killrates on nightlight compared to the 60% average the devs wanted I can see why this happens more and more.

In the current survivor-meta tunneling is more necessary than ever.

Tunneling is not more necessary than ever. Plenty of Killers have proven that they can stomp Survivors without tunneling.

On the flipside, if high MMR is the nightmare that people say it is, wouldn't it be a good thing to lose games and lower your MMR?

And if certain Killers are weak as people say they are, wouldn't it be a good thing for them to continually get stomped? It may actually incentivize the devs to improve them rather than looking at their high killrate which was only acquired by camping and tunneling.

I know that there's already plenty of posts about this but I want this topic to get the most possible visibility.

Quite simply, I hate this change.

I've been selected as part of the "test group" that doesn't have access to seeing other players Prestige ranks, and here are my thoughts after not seeing these icons the past 3 days of playing:

    1. I have not noticed any change in my match quality.
    2. I have not seen more people lobby dodging.
    3. I have not experienced any more or less toxicity than usual.

The only thing that I have noticed is that there's no more icons next to players names and a deepseated sadness because I now feel no motivation at all to level my characters past Prestige 9.

The entire point of having 100 Prestige tiers was to show your dedication/love to a specific character, and to also show it off to others- most notably the other survivors in your lobby, not the killer.

This change completely killed that feeling of accomplishment. WHY can other survivors NOT SEE my Prestige rank? Why can this not be something ONLY DISABLED for killers?

Prestige ranks are cosmetic- no more and no less than a Store cosmetic. They show off your love for a character, either by time (Prestige) or money (Store cosmetics). When you remove the cosmetic appeal of a Prestige rank, you remove the entire incentive to do so PAST level 9.

I completely understand why KILLERS shouldn't be able to see survivior Prestige in the lobby, but my teammates? I find that to be overkill. The issue with Prestige was tunneling/BM towards the survivor by the killer, not your fellow teammates.

Please BHVR, allow survivors to see this but disable this for killer. Allow survivors to feel that sense of accomplishment and show off to their peers the amount of time and dedication they put into their favorite characters.

I could be wrong, but I think the reason you haven't noticed any difference is because you're getting into matches with people who haven't been lucky enough to receive the hidden prestige update, therefore they're still seeing everyone's prestiges and dodging/being toxic etc. accordingly. I don't think we'll truly know for sure what impact it will have until the prestiges are hidden for everyone.

Oh, and all the survivors who happily ran to their certain death will you chew you out in post-chat for not joining them on the basement hooks.

Yep. But in this instance I'm fine with that. I just ask them why they thought going downstairs and getting caught in the traps was a good idea.

  • Yeah, basement Trapper does suck. It makes me want to DC, because my teammates will usually go for the poor Survivor in the basement and then get themselves caught in the process, and there's no way I'll be able to get five gens done on my own before they all inevitably die, not to mention completing a gen will give away my location. Therefore it's pointless to even try to do anything at all. And I'm hardly ever lucky enough to get hatch. But I don't want to DC because the penalty sucks, and I don't even want to leave a bot in my place.

  • A lot of people like to be surprised by who the killer is, and having killer-tied hooks would spoil that surprise.

Then again, with more and more killers getting their unique terror radius, it's getting easier to tell who the killer is anyway...

Please please change the xenomorph's live chase music either back to the ptb version or make a new one😥 The new version, first of all, doesnt really fit the xenomorph. It sounds a lot like nurses and is so generic and cheap sounding that it could be slapped on any killer or added to the array of default music and no one would bat an eye. The old version was atmospheric, genuinely frightening, had an 80's sci fi vibe, and even fit with the original alien movie due to the nostromo siren noises. The new version is just hard hitting beats and strings. PLEASE BHVR I AM BEGGING guys please support me in the comments

Lol, have you even seen the complaints about the PTB chase music? That's why it was changed to begin with.

  • I'm happy about hiding Prestiges and all, but I don't see it being very effective unless they're hidden for everyone and not just a lucky few.

  • No, teammates Prestige levels were still visible to me as of an hour ago.

  • As someone mentioned, use Deja Vu. It has helped me immensely in preventing 3 Gen scenarios, and I always play solo. I always go for one of the gens shown with the Deja Vu aura. The devs have mentioned in one of their updates that they are working on addressing the 3-gen strategy. That was the reason they buffed Deja Vu, to give us something to combat 3-gen scenarios right now while we wait for whatever they're planning.

Deja Vu is also great for new players, because it helps them locate gens with no distance limit, and doesn't require any DLC's or prestiging to unlock for their Survivors.

That’s not a good answer. There is no reason for this game to not show who is in a party and to provide players with a communication option- those two things can then be balanced around.

Edit: unless of course you don’t trust the player base with it?

Of course not. Have you seen some of the stuff that people type in the endgame chat? Imagine what they would say if we had in-game voice chat.

  • I say play a character because you like them, not because of how many skins they have.

The only "rule" I set for myself regarding cosmetics is to not just wear their default, and to wear something dark-colored. (Sadly I didn't get any Stranger Things cosmetics while I had the chance, so Nancy and Steve are kind of stuck with their defaults, albeit the bloody versions. And poor Quentin barely has any cosmetics to speak of.) I don't go out of my way to buy every cosmetic in the shop, so most of my cosmetics are earned from the rift, and I try to come up with interesting mix-and-match outfits with what I have.

My main is Dwight, and there's really only one outfit that I wear on him.

    BlackCoffee.png

It's dark, and I love how the shirt fits nice and snug. So it doesn't matter how many cosmetics he has now or how many he gets in the future, I will most likely be sticking with this outfit for a long time to come.

Again, if the developers would actually fix this game's problems such as overpowered premades...lobby dodging wouldn't really be a thing anymore.

The only advantage SWFs have over solos is communication via an outside app such as Discord. How is BHVR supposed to fix that?

Asking to remove dc penalties in general is very naive to say, it’s always been. They can’t do that because not only survivors would dc (i don’t care there are bots, that’s not their purpose and they are still green), killers would dc left and right for the bare minimum without punishment and no game would go past 2 minutes most of the times. So please, stop shielding every problem behind “just remove DC penalty” because it’s not the good solution most people think it is and it needs deeper study than that (I’d like a forfeit poll past 10-15 minutes for example.)

Of course I wouldn't expect it to happen, though it would be nice. Though the suggestion can't be any more naive than asking to killswitch the Skull Merchant just because people don't like her design, and as others have already said, that's not what the killswitch is for.

"Stop shielding every problem behind 'just remove DC penalty'?" Why would you say that when you want to shield the Skull Merchant problem by asking for her to be killswitched?

This is just my opinion however I think Broken as it currently stands is not that useful as a status effect and it's also not common to see. As the perk stands now- Broken. When being affected by the Broken status effect, survivors are wounded to the point that they are unable to heal, regardless of if they have the perk Self-Care, a med kit, or another survivor nearby to help. The Broken status effects duration depends on the add-on, perk, or killer that is being used. Cursed.

Recommended Change: Broken will prevent the Afflicted survivor from Healing from any means even while knocked out, until the broken status ends. The Broken status effects duration depends on the add-on, perk, or killer that is being used. Cursed. 2nd effect: Slows Survivors Progression Speed by 8%

Or if the 2nd effect is too strong it disables a survivor's held item until broken wears off.

Thoughts? Maybe a better suggested change?

"Broken will prevent the Afflicted survivor from Healing from any means even while knocked out, until the broken status ends."

So you're suggesting that being afflicted with broken should prevent you from being picked up from the dying state? That will cause toxicity on so many levels...

  • Whenever I get that challenge, I run Counterforce and Detective's Hunch. The latter perk incentivizes me to do a gen first before I go looking for totems, because I can see their auras after each gen is done. And I only cleanse one or two per match, in case a teammate has a boon. I play solo, so I have no way to know when a teammate brings a boon (which isn't very often nowadays)...

  • Maybe they should disable DC penalties until her rework instead. It's simple to do, they've done it before, people can still play as Skull Merchant if they want, and no one would be punished for leaving the match.

Nah prestige should remain as it is. Valuable information for killer. Plus they should add swf icons who play with someone.visible devotion rank, and killer should see Item rarity too. And with those no killer would run into a team with full meta perks and items with hes zero slowdown poop builds. And survs should see each others builds too.

    Valuable information to do what?

    • "Prevent unhook spamming by removing unhook canceling, so when you initiate the unhook, you cannot let go until the unhook is completed. With unhook grabs removed, there is no reason to let go during unhooking anymore."

^ I'm going to disagree with this one. What if you see a Huntress winding up her hatchet as you begin the unhook? You should be able to let go and dodge and then try unhook again.

  • It's actually not that difficult to tell when someone is using Plot Twist if you're paying attention to the hud. If they're injured and you see the little claws wiggling around their portrait, and they scream as they go down, you know they went down legitimately. If they suddenly go down with no claws or scream, chances are they're using Plot Twist. (Or if they suddenly go down with no scream while someone else has the wiggling claws around their portrait, then it's an easy assumption that they're using Plot Twist.)

  • I can talk about a particular match I had that inspired me to start shipping Nemesis x Rebecca. I was Rebecca of course, and we were in RPD. The match played normally until the first two teammates were dead. Then Nemesis found me working on the last gen, followed me down a hole, and I ran. Then I looked back to see that he wasn't chasing, he was just staring longingly at me from afar before leaving to go to the other side of the map. I could only assume that Meg was just hiding and not trying to do any gens on the other side of the map. I had last seen her aura crouching across the map as the second teammate died via Kindred. Nemesis went back and forth a few times, chasing me off the gen, kicking it, and then leaving again. He eventually found Meg and killed her as I finished the last gen. I went back into the main hall and saw Nemesis at the bottom of the stairs once again staring from afar. He came up, and both the zombies were also there. I ran from him, and Nemesis took out the zombies that were in my way. I started to look for hatch, but Nemesis opened the front exit gate and left, so I turned and went out through the gate.

I thought, how interesting that he would spare the S.T.A.R.S. member of all people. So yes, I've written a "what-if" fanfic based from that match, and more scenes in another fic with them. XD

  • If you play Killer, you can play against bots in the custom matches. If you play Survivor, you get into a regular match with four other random players (three other Survivors and one Killer). Sadly there's no way for Survivors to play against a bot Killer yet, unless you do the tutorial, but they say it's in the works.

  • Cleansing is rarely a good idea unless you're in endgame, because it just gives access to her projectile attack. If people would avoid cleansing, the Plague would just be an M1 killer.

  • I think hemorrhage is more overtuned than mangled (especially in combination with mangled). Because regressing the healing progress faster than you gain it is just nuts IMO. 😕

  • I've heard that one could fast vault over the Trapper's trap in the tutorial and soft-lock it, so that might be why they have to revert it?

You still make no valid argument as to why you, rng'd as the obsession deserves a second shot at hatch when the game is clearly over.

I'll always point out that for you to reach 0 hooks to endgame, you atleast threw your last teammate under the bus to reach that state, theres no reason as to why you wouldn't go for the rescue yourself if your team is all death hook.

The match is over, theres no legitimate reason as to why you should be allowed to waste the killers time just so you get a second chance at the consolation prize.

The Killer doesn't deserve the free kill at the end either. You might as well say that Survivors should automatically escape when all gens are powered and not waste the Killer's time trying to catch them all last minute.

  • @WilliamSN said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3520045#Comment_3520045

STBFL - You can notice the killer has it when he avoids M1ing you, but not every one else, at this point its on you (the obsession) to try to bodyblock and force stack loss , even then you dont deserve 2 shots at the consolation prize just because you RNG'd as the obsession

Theres no scenario at which you're 0 hooks at 10 hooks unless you intentionally avoided saves, you dont deserve 2 chances at the consolation prize

if your whole team isnt doing gens you still dont deserve 2 shots at the consolation prize just because you happen to luck out as the last person to be hooked

Do you say that about yourself as well? If you're the last Survivor alive, does that make you a bad teammate as well?

  • @Venusa said:

    So... Calm Spirit...? 😭

They're talking about a Killer perk that makes downing a Survivor silent. But as ReikoMori pointed out, it wouldn't work, since the hud shows us when people are downed.

  • Apparently the copyright holders (or whoever owns the Ring content) is happier with the mobile version than with BHVR. Who knows why?

  • She's a licensed character, so her chances of getting cosmetics are very slim.

Tunneling isn't unstoppable and the other 3 survivors can attempt to protect the person being tunneled.

Currently, tunneling is unstoppable. Running OTR, BT, DS, etc., or having the teammates trying to protect you only delays the inevitable.

If the devs can come up with a system to nullify it like the upcoming anti-camping mechanic, I would be impressed. But at the moment, I can't imagine how'd they do it.

  • @oreoslurpee said:

like genuinely all they do is feed, throw, mess up skill checks, and run around randomly. yes i get that their bots, so throwing isn't technically one of the things they do, but it sure feels like it. bots just sabotage the survivor side, like i could be doing a gen and they would just keep messing up the skill checks and the moment they are within the brink edge of the killers terror radius, they run off and do jack.

they do more harm than good to the team, and i have NO clue whos idea it was to make them have a high chance of messing up skill checks. maybe its for realism? i dont know, but i sure as hell know that barely anybody messes them up now unless their a fresh new rank 20 with 15 hours in the game. why did we have to get these crappy no good bots that serve no purpose while custom game matches have ACTUAL great bots that do their stuff properly. and make it so that they dont just straight up run away the moment the killer is 31 meters away from them, thats the most annoying thing about them. they stop whatever their doing no matter what when the slightest tiniest heartbeat shows up.

please do something about bots in normal matches because this is genuinely ridiculous, and i already played with/against the touched up bots in the alien PTB and I saw absolutely no difference and if anything it got worse because now they just stop what their doing and either walk or stand there. the bots aren't even this "savior" or "hope" for a match because all they do is jsut sabotage you from winning.

make them actually beneficial by making it so they always hit good skill checks, with a chance of great skill checks too. make them respond better in a terror radius and make the game have the bot detect whether the killer is chasing a survivor and the bot so happens to be in the radius so they dont just run off, get out of the terror radius, run back, and run out again because they heard the terror radius again. just PLEASE do something

This is what I've been saying for a while now. Keep the DC penalties, but remove the bots.

I'd like the names to be consistent, so either change her to Min Feng or change the Japanese and Korean survivors to the proper name order.

I'd feel like reordering the names for Japanese and Korean Survivors would cause more confusion, even though it is the standard for that part of the world. We already have a lot of people incorrectly assuming that "Feng" is the first name (and most people don't even know how to pronounce it either).

So I'd be in favor of reordering her name to Min Feng.

Giving a killer a Mori for this situation literally encourages this style of play. The point is to discourage this type of play. A person should never be out of the game without being hooked multiple times short of their teammates leaving them on hook.

If they ever gave killers an option to down all 4 and Mori out, this game would be unplayable. Every match would be 4 minutes and just down as fast as you can to get a 4 k and start over. If that is the playstyle you want, then go play Fortnite.

^ This is exactly my point. Though I have to wonder what makes you think I want this style of play? I was saying I am against the finisher mori mechanic for the very reasons you just listed.

  • It makes no difference whose fault it is. Killer commits to a fast four-Survivor slug, finisher mori triggers, game over, the end. This should not be a thing.

  • @DrDucky said:

If this really became so common, you could just simply bring unbreakable. Bare in mind as well that if the killer slugs everyone the game is over anyway, the finisher mori just means no one has to wait to bleed out.

Maybe, but if the Killer slugs everyone before you can fully recover, the game's gonna end right then and there, screwing anyone who has the perk.

  • @Peanits said:

Not sure I follow, but it works something like this:

    • You search for a match.
    • The game tries to find you a match with other people close to your rating.
    • If a certain amount of time has passed and it can't find you a match, it slowly starts to expand the search range.
    • The range expands until you find a match OR until it has expanded to the maximum range.

It doesn't prioritize anyone in particular, but the people who would notice it most are the people on the very low or very high end of the spectrum since there tend to be fewer players at the extremes. Since there's far more people around the average skill level, it's not common for the matchmaking system to expand much- if at all- before they find a match. But that said, the maximum expanded range means that players on the super low end and on the super high end would never be matched together, no matter how long they wait.

^ This almost sounds like a roundabout way of saying that the whole MMR system just doesn't work, period...

  • The finisher mori actually concerns me, especially since they've backed out of their plans to add basekit Unbreakable. The Killer will just slug everyone as quickly as possible and end the match instantly with the finisher mori. I can see it getting abused a lot.

  • While it could be helpful to see what our teammates are running, wouldn't that lead to even more cherry picking?

  • It'd be cool if we could randomize a single perk if we just can't decide on what our fourth perk should be. I wouldn't want a completely randomized loadout like we did in the anniversary event. Plz no more No Mither/For the People...

  • If DC penalties are going to remain the way they are, I'd rather get rid of the bots. They're really not helping, and it's better to end the match quickly when it's an obvious loss for Survivors. Exhibit A...

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qXlU8ePQVbc

  • I just had a 14-game losing streak as Survivor between yesterday and today. Yesterday I escaped my first match because the Killer wasn't trying too hard. I lost every other game after that (six more games).

This morning the streak continued with 8 more deaths before I finally managed to pull off an escape. After that, I was done for the day.

  • I do agree that the tomes often have challenges that encourage toxic plays (i.e. kill obsession X number of times, or hide within 10 meters of the killer for X seconds in a single trial). But getting a 4k with Clown is not one of them.

1 … 27 28 29 30 31 … 33
