But 20 matches without DC'ing? That's seriously going to hurt casual players. I typically only play about four or five matches per day, and since getting my main to P100, I've cut it down to my weekends only. At that rate, it would take me two weeks to remove a single penalty point…and that's assuming that nothing else happens, like the occasional internet hiccup or random game or server crash.
So I would seriously urge them to reconsider this, either by reducing the matches required to reset a point, or allowing points to reset after some time. Whether it's each day, every two days, a week, whatever.
At some point you have to ask yourself why you're d/cing so much that playing 20 matches without d/cing is such a problem. Likely the answer is something along the lines of you're not finding aspects of the game enjoyable in which case you should stop playing.
The problem that exists now is there is no meaningful punishment for constantly d/cing out of games, because you can just wait out the penalty resets.

Thats true, but this is the FNAF chapter, the one that everyone said would hinge DBDs future on, because we could expect a MASSIVE influx of new players, that we need to keep interested at the game.
Maybe this is the way, though? Giving the players teh FNAF experience without the risk
The draw of license chapters is the license itself not the power being unique.
I will say that I think the power largely being throw an axe is disappointing because it's not something that relates directly to the game which might turn off new players but who knows.

Because mobility without chase loses micro and chase without mobility loses macro. Unless they fundamentally fix how the game is played (not possible at this point with how the game is balanced) they are both essential factors of a killer feeling good to play as.
To add to this, it also doesn't help whenever a killer has a power that involves stealth and/or a side objective for survivors to deal with it's always complained about and almost always gets nerfed.
Chase and Mobility powers are just the safest bets.

While that's indeed true, but I expected to see at least some interesting part on him that'll make me buy the DLC. FNAF is a big license, and it shouldn't be this lackluster.
The draw here is the license. If you're not a FNAF fan, then of course this chapter wouldn't be at enticing for you. It's also why it's a shame BHVR is taking the fortnite route and focusing so much on bringing in licenses when some of their best chapters have been original ones.
-
I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect any new killer being released at this point to have a fully unique power.

I never said there was, but why not explore the topic? The devs should want to ascertain the reasons, and they can determine which are valid and consider how to address the pain points that lead to it. They have surveys asking the same questions every few weeks, why not one based on why players commit DC or suicide?
they already put out surveys asking how players feel about the state of the game. They don't need one for rage quitters. If you want to rage quit you get punished. If you aren't enjoying the game at all stop playing.

Yeah, and the developers still won't focus on WHY people want to go, but they will try to implement more ways to keep you in the trial. It's annoying, but I would rather have a bot that wants to do gens, heal, and eventually open the door and run out versus a player that is trolling, wasting pallets, and sometimes sandbagging. And no one cares about BP's; most of us are swimming in millions anyway, so offering more BP isn't exciting. At least, as you point out, sometimes The Killer will farm, or it is so bad that a 3v1 is still winnable.
there's no single reason that keeps people going next. Frankly you would kill the game trying to cater to rage quitters. Plus you weren't getting a bot before and it was just forcing you into a 3v1.

Lmao, you actually think these changes are going to force survivors to play the game? Ha ha ha!!! No. I've seen so many state nothing will force them to play a match they don't want to play. They will chase the killer around, throw down pallets, not rescue teammates on the hook…not help.
This wouldn't be a real issue if BHVR was better at banning people for this kind of behavior in the first place.
-
For the mori update, if we're removing the ability to self unhook without perks or offerings why are we still checking if the 2nd to last survivor is in struggle state? Shouldn't it just be are other survivors hooked, then allow mori if yes?
-
Killers could run 1 decent perk and one lackluster perk to get benefit for spreading hooks or they could run stronger perks and not.
-
This is a case of being mad at the wrong party. You should be mad at your fellow survivors leaving you rather than the killer doing their job.
-
Dbd is the only game where I encountered people stalking my profile and harass me over it. Anonymous mode protects me from that.
I also still see toxic players who don't use anon mode.
-
It's always amusing the double standards people have towards killers.
-
A big reason i stopped playing killer was the devs appear to have little interest in handling frustrations killer players face. Then games are either you stomp survivors because they just give up immediately or your get destroyed because you face a team of survivors who actually do gens. Killers have no comeback mechanics while Survivors keep getting more added so you get a bad start as a killer, the game is likely already over.
Then there's just the general toxicity you get as a killer player. Play a killer someone doesn't like, get attacked in end game chat. Win because the survivors messed up, get attacked in end game chat. Lose, get attacked in end game chat. Do a meme build, get attacked because you didn't play "correctly". There's just nothing satisfying about the role and you'll get toxicity regardless of what you do.
-
When killers stop playing the game and queue times expode, BHVR will panick and do another 6.1 and then slowly nerf everything they gave killers in the new 6.1 patch like they did last time.

Mass slug is a problem because it fully removes player agency. It will remain to be a problem as long as there is no basekit counter to it. And on top of that, extremely boring. 32 seconds of effectively not doing anything to recover is 1 thing, but it being as strong as a hook is a problem. Abandoning match was a patchjob solution, not the actual solution.
So are we going to remove hooks next because it removes player agency? Just make the entire game about hitting survivors until they finish gens and escape?
-
Two subpar things together don't just become an S tier threat.
-
All the killer nerfs BHVR has given out has affected M1 killers more than killers with mobility or strong damaging powers. If a killer gets a good start, then the tools that were nerfed largely didn't matter. The killers with the best shot to snowball early are those with strong powers.
There's also the fact that while survivors are given many basekit defenses against killer tactics and have multiple "second chance" perks, killers are lacking anything on that level for comeback making.
-
Just because you won't be satisfied until a killer is made absolutely garbage does not mean a killer deserves to be nerfed more.
-
Some people really want to experience staring at a leatherface on hook.
-
Myers is in a weird spot. He hasn't aged well and if it wasn't for a few addons his kill rate would much lower. Which makes it hard to balance his addons without making changes to his entire kit and Myers was just not on bhvr radar for any significant changes last I remember them talking about twins and freddy taking priority.
-
Honestly I don't even think current SM is that convoluted. You can see the areas her drones are watching and they turn white if you crouch from orange which is a signal they won't detect you. Survivors see they are hindered and they have the potrait UI to show how many stacks they have for the claw trap.
I believe the only reason she's even considered convoluted is that many survivors simply refuse to even try in the first place and changing a killer completely because a bunch of people can't be adults in an M rated game is not a good sign for the future.
-
Any killers whose power can only injure is not going to be a top 5 killer against skilled opponents.

Yes but at the same time there's killers who are skilled enough to not need gen regression perks, as in those who have insta-downs or are just amazing at the game (unlike myself when i play …any game). These days survivors kinda suck, swfs rely more on being toxic than doing generators, and that one solo queue survivor ends up getting the short end of the stick if these killers run full aura perks.
Also at the same time once the aura perk does its little timer animation you can add on the other one, say like BBQ triggers, then leathal adds on that extra 2 seconds. Then you go over to where you last saw that survivor and kick a gen for nowhere to hide, or open locker for darkness revealed.
So do you believe the better player shouldn't be able to win then?
-
People say this, but they never expand on why having multiple aura perks is some major crutch causing killers to auto-win games.
If an aura perk reveals you, a different aura perk triggering and revealing you doesn't do anything more. If a killer only has aura perks, they are lacking gen defense perks so gens should fly nor do they have perks to help end chases so they are solely reliant on the killer already having a good power to end chases.

No im not “aware “ that’s the point of discussion post. I don’t have crazy wait times ever for match making like a lot of people claim they do. that’s why i see no problem with it but thanks for your input.
You don't have long wait times right now, because there's no ability to block from being matched with other players. If you added that queues would increase across the board.

yeah well it’s not behaviors fault if you have a problem with EVERYONE in every match. it’s not their fault if YOUR match making takes long due to you blocking everyone in your region. use it wisely or don’t use it at all type thing. same for dc penalties, you get dc penalties just from being disconnected from the match. it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re not constantly dc’ing making your penalty longer. it would be the same with blocking. don’t block cause you can and you’ll get better match making.
You are aware that other people can block you or other people in your lobby. It's not just whether or not you block people that will affect matchmaking. The existence of the system will mean people will block anyone for any reason which will have a snowball effect of making matchmaking times long even if you block no one.
-
If the blocked system worked the way you want it to, queue times would be so long.
-
The playerbase has largely been for chase focused gameplay.

Yeah I think the intent is stacking it with Eyes of Belmont. Could probably use a higher base number.
Rapid Response should have a higher value. It shouldn't be reliant on stacking with another perk just to be good.

Wait do you get aura reading from just fast texting a locker or just when you use an exaustion perk
i would assume it works like all exhaustion perks where activating the condition of the perk and getting exhaustion gives you the effect.
The question was would it work with Head On since both have the same trigger condition but they don't really syngerize.
-
@AhoyWolf said:
Rapid Response seems really bad, a few reasons why:
- Duration of the Aura Reveal is extremelly low, to the point of you maybe not even noticing it.
- It has longer Exhausted duration than stuff like Smash Hit for an even worse effect.
I understand that it is kinda meant to have synergy with Exhaustion Perks, but I don't think making the Perk pretty much worthless on it's own or maybe even detrimental if the Killer catches you while you're Exhausted from the Perk while having other Exhaustion Perks.
It may also either work with Head On or completely neuter it which would be quite sad.
What would be the point of running both? If you Head On stun the killer for 3 seconds, you don't need to see their aura for 2 seconds.

Lowkey I don't think any of her perks are all that great. Do No Harm is basically just We'll Make It in a different font, Rapid Response seems completely pointless, and Duty of Care sounds like a nice way to help teammates being tunnelled but it'll still just be more reliable to bring OTR + DS yourself rather than rely on teammates to help you out (at least in solo).
Can't see any of these getting common usage.
We'll Make It is a generic perk and is better from the start of the game.
Do No Harm only becomes better than We'll Make It if a game goes on long enough for survivors to have been 2 hooked and facing a killer that relies on spreading damage like Legion. In which case you may get more use from autodidact from that scenario.
-
All that needs to change is to allow the killer to mori once all other survivors are either hooked or slugged. The fact that killers cannot mori until everyone else is completely is what creates these waits.
-
I don't like them adding free aura reading for survivors on a killer perk. No one is really cleansing dull totems and hex totems have noise notification so survivors who pay attention can figure out the rough area a hex was cleansed.

Is it really an issue though? Or is it BHVR refusing to be more daring/creative. It's not because of Haste stacking that Dark Theory has never been a good perk.
Haste Stacking existing is why Dark Theory is only 2%.
-
This would still result in the same issue we have today. Where haste perks have low values making them not worthwhile by themselves, because they are balanced around being stacked.
-
@DEMONANCE said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3909191#Comment_3909191
dark theory could be buffed without this change
the devs thought it was ok for survivors to have 3% permanent haste just for being injured but thought a 2% haste in a limited range was too much to be buffed??
dark theory could easily be made 5% and it still wouldn't be too strong.
MFT was nerfed, because it was too powerful. Really bad example to bring it up.
-
Nah. Survivors already have tools to help against the killer returning immediately after being unhooked. No reason to take away valuable information from the killer, because you refuse to use existing tools.
-
This opens up actually buffing perks like Dark Theory whose values were set so low due to the fact Haste stacking existed. So I don't see this being a real issue.
-
This is what happens when BHVR caters towards people who were upset that other players benefitted from their event offerings. I wish BHVR would stop trying to cater the game those the small minority of players who simply just want to complain.
-
@Caiman said:
Do they even count for emblems? I'm struggling to get any pips even when I escape.
Probably not. Seems like BHVR added these event gens, but didn't integrate them as actual gens for anything. I really don't get why they did it this way, because it shouldn't be that hard to count their completion as a gen being done. So this has to be an intentional design they went with which shows they are out of touch with how their game works.
-
Note, this isn't restricted to gen related perks. Killer Powers and Addons also don't work with the event gens since they aren't considered gens. Pig Traps don't activate when an event gen is finished. Freddy can't teleport to event gens. Ghostface's addon to block gens when finishing a stalk also doesn't work.
-
@BlightAbuser said:
Yea, the blood gens not counting as actual gens is frustrating. Takes away a TON of perks from killer.
Not even just that.
Freddy can't teleport to event gens. Pig traps don't activate off of event gens. Ghostface's addon to block gens doesn't work on event gens. I'm sure there are more, but those are ones I know off the top of my head.
-
I don't see why we need to add such complexity into a system, it's not like it prevents someone from using unbreakable if they want to.
-
Likely just need a patch for them to be added to free pool
-
Nerfing his tail attack while still allowing turrets to knock xeno out of his power is certainly a decision. Not one I would make, but these changes were never for the benefit of the killer player dedicated to xeno.
-
It's almost a certainly he's going to get hard with the nerf bat. Don't fall for the bait and pay for a character whom BHVR will destroy within the next month.
-
I see plently of non-anon players rage quit. However, instead of getting mad at rage quitters you get mad at people who don't want to be harassed.
