watch this video and u will understand why
Survivors are not going to watch that and will just downvote. They genuinely see no problem with this in their delusional state

watch this video BHVR, I honestly might quit the game if these changes go through and a lot of other people will too, this video explains exactly why in very perfect detail
This was such a. Good analysis
-
Survivor who was just unhooked can go work on a gen under the killers nose with no consequence. It becomes lose lose lose for the killer
-
Survivors can get unhooked work on a generator in the killers face, and have no consequence to it not. If they down you and hook you they get punished. If they slug you they get punished, if they ignore you the gen pops...…
Fun and interactive gameplay for the killer I guess.
This literally just babies had survivors

is the OP one of those people that directly made fun of him or are we just doing the "I assume you're biased and did the thing without recognizing my own bias/preconceived notions while ignoring the actual validity of the discussion at hand" thing like pulsar was doing earlier
The latter

Ruin? Basically all of them. Ruin's a good perk design, when the number's high enough to actually be directly useful. It's a bit less useful on someone like Trapper because he isn't interrupting generators as much, but pretty much any killer that isn't trap-based can use Ruin.
Oppression… I think will still need builds to support it, but it is getting better in those builds.
The basekit Pop isn't super potent on its own, it's just a neat extra. Really, the best slowdown killers are getting on this PTB is the basekit BBQ.
buffed ruin litterally is counterintuitive with the new basekit pop effect

So after having time to properly try these changes and stew on them my thoughts have not changed from my immediate fears upon seeing these changes before i saw numbers, infact my fears are worsened.
I am using "you" to signify the developer overall not the community manager. You have Developed the new system in such a way where as a killer it is physically impossible for you to regain pressure or even secure 1 kill in the later parts of the game. I cannot even secure a kill in end game with new basekit bt changes if I get hard gen rushed. If I am playing agaisnt a full gen perk squad or even 2 I am punished for trying to regain pressure at 3 or even 2 gens by trying to kill a survivor without making the game easier for everyone else. I am constantly put into spots where I am forced to lose or I lose harder. You have pushed these changes to live and done less than nothing to address why tunneling has once again become the dominant strategy, you infact made it harder to play the game for the lower power killers by nerfing every gen regression perk because apparently base kit pop goes on every killer warrants a nerf to most of the other popular gen regression perks.
As for the slugging I think there is good here, there is a good idea, but 90 seconds on the floor for unlimited unbreakable is not ok thus is coming from a p100 oni player, the trade of 12.5%~ power does not equate to being hard punished for playing my killer the optimal way.
Imagine if this was pitched the other way. "Gens take 150 seconds now, the killer gets an audio que when a gen passes 50% oh and we got rid of deja vu, resi, prove, removed all toolboxes and we buffed all gen regression perks." This would not slide in any capacity. This blatant favoritism towards one side that cause an en masse hemorrhaging of killer players is how we end up with band aid fixes like eruption again.
Please I urge you to heavily reconsider these changes. I think in current state this is not the way to prevent tunneling, you should just deincentivize the play style to start, not punish, while you take a step back and look at the true reason why killers tunnel.
Very Well put

My guess is the OP thinks BHVR is not learning from their competitor's mistakes and going down the same path they did.
correct

@Abbzy said:
That 25% is too much it should be like 10% or it should be influenced by gens left from powering gates to survivors being alive so you dobt get 25% increase on one gen left with first kill on 4 hook stages as trapper if this goes live as its now on paper than devs basicaly are saying go blight and have fun they dont care about weaker killers on whose is normal to get first kill on one or two gens left with 4 hooks because these killers lack power to get hooks earlier.
Honestly it should not activate if 3 gens are done. Same with Anti tunnel.

It's based on current progress.
That's not good. It's not impactful. It should be total
-
No rebuttal... If it was old pop it would be good. But it's not
-
Pop basekit isn't enough. And nerfing gen control is hilarious because slower gens make it easier to not tunnel because you have more chances spread hooks
-
@FoxGhoul said:
The incredibly out of touch devs- we heard your complaints about gen speeds, so we decided to make a system that disables you ability kick or block them but we will give you basekit pop, a useless haste status effect, and bbq, but let's nerf every other gen regression perk. Like seriously ######### are you all smoking because I need some after reading that slop. Plus you make more healing perks because healing isn't already fast enough?
The gen perks nerfs make no sense with how much killers have complained about the gen speed. This just screams oot
-
@XboxPlayur said:
this is just going to force survivors to go against the same 3 strong killers with the same perks. The devs constantly adding more perks base kit destroys the variability and creativity of everyone. Survivors can all run the same 4 string works because all the others are now base kit. And killers can only play the high mobility, sweaty killers with anti-heal/regression. Now you always know what to expect each match and no one has to learn how to adapt or change their perks, it’s great!
They will deserve it at this point. I hope they enjoy facing nothing but dashslop s and a tier killers

@Aven_Fallen said:

I find it funny that you come with something completely unrelated after I debunked your point. If you have no argument left, just dont say anything. This is fine, you dont have to have the last word.
Point is survivors perks didn't get wiped like killers as they get a bunch of free ######### and ways to punish the killer and killers get a pittance. Oh I'm sure that getting a bit of extra regression on kick will help trapper when the first 2 gens pop right away.

I heard that 20% kick is based on current progression, so I don't think it's that great.
That's even worse... If it was 20% of a Gen maybe it would be worth it

They buffed Basekit Regression. Obviously they nerf the Regression Perks. Which is overall a good thing, being less reliant on Perks.
You say as survivors get like 4 more perks basekit
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Easy solution is to not tunnel. You even get a Bonus to Regression when kicking after hooking unique Survivors.
And they nerfed all other regression.

Giving killers basekit regression for spreading hooks is not a buff, it's a down grade. Like everything else in this god forsaken chapter
Yup
-
Oh yes nerfing gen regression and defense perks. We totally needed that. Nerfing antiheal too. While giving survivors a bunch of buffs. And wow they get a 25% gen speed bonus, terrific.
This is gonna suck if it goes live.
-
Why are ppl downvoting this? This is a very calm normal well put take
-
@cogsturning said:
90s is already super long. That's a whole gen worth of time. Raising it any higher makes it pretty much useless.
There's also nothing that stops you from slugging. You can still slug for slowdown. They can just get up, eventually.
I actually think having basekit buffs would be beneficial to new killers. When I played only killer, I didn't even know what tunneling and slugging were. It never occurred to me to do either, also because I didn't (and still dont) watch videos of other people playing. It wasn't until I started trying out survivor and got consistently left on the ground that I got introduced to these pleasant tactics.
They need to update the tutorial to make things clearer though. The game is already difficult for new players. There's a zillion perks to understand. Survivors have to learn 40 different killers, which I guess is why I I started with killer—it was easier. I tried to get my partner to play surv with me but that lasted like 10 matches because there was too much to consider.
It's 90 seconds cumalitive.... So they just need to be on the ground 90 seconds. And this compellyy removes any pressure from slugging. Why leave a gen to save someone when they'll get up on their own anyways
-
Enjoy your blight, nurse, Billy, dracula, ghoul, spirit, killer rotation then I guess

Here's the thing:
None of us care how you play.
We've gone through these threats before. People will quit and/or just play S tiers. It never happens. I run into chill killers, I run into sweaty killers, whatever killer has just been released / updated gets the most play, and I play killer and have no concerns about playing under the new rules.
You're allowed to play however you want. But we've been hearing the threats for years from people who were playing sweaty that they'd somehow play more sweaty and the community, broadly, never follows them. We're over the cries of 'wolf' and hopefully BHVR is to.
Do you remember how long queues were during the MFT meta?
-
You know the changes are bs because they are disabled for custom matches..... They know how much this would screw with comp DBD.
-
Honestly killers should have a basekit pain res of 20% instead of pop.. that way it helps low mobility killers more
-
@cogsturning said:
Killers are getting buffed. I'm about to have a hasted killer find me with basekit aura reading and get increased damage on my gen just for hooking someone. Both sides are gonna have to change. The shake up will be good to rattle everyone who's let their playstyle get stale and repetitive.
Yeah well probably get 5% haste for 10 seconds and 3% extra gen kick regression
-
@4thdslip said:
Going to get downvotes for this, but what do you want nerf wise for the Ghoul? List issues and solutions to it, just to show that you're serious and can actually point out what makes him worse than Nurse and Blight.
They want to skull merchant him
-
The numbers will decide this
-
We need to test it first. I feel like a lot of it is going to depend on numbers....
And the meyers changes seem to be another block on the pile of bad rework ideas...
-
It is going to greatly depend on the values of the buffs killers get... I'm worried they'll not be enough
-
The kidnap tech was one of the biggest complaints. Chill.

I could see this maybe hurting Pyramid Head if it doesn't count cages as hooks for this system, but Sadako and Pig should ideally be hooking anyways.
Hell, Pig isn't meant to be reliably killing survivors that way to begin with. Sadako I could see being a concern, but I lean towards "you probably aren't killing someone that early with Condemned anyway".
I mean ive gotten a condemned kill at 0 hooks before because of poor survivors plays....
-
@Zeidoktor said:
Question: What about Killers who can kill with their powers before a Survivor is on Death Hook, like Sadako and Pig. It's entirely possible for them to kill a survivor without ever hooking them.
Will death by killer power trigger the pre-6 hook survivor buff? Well the anti tunnel penalty trigger if the last hooked Survivor dies to their Reverse Beat Trap?
I was just thinking of this… does this just murder sadako, pig, and pyramid head???
-
Agreed it'll be confusing for new players and annoying for everyone else
-
@Crowman said:
It doesn't seem like the boosts killers get for not tunneling outweigh what survivors get to fight tunneling. Which I think is a problem, because part of why tunneling is a problem in the first place is the lack of reward for not tunneling so this is just nerfs.
Agreed. The buffs and rewards aren't enough

@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/454770/developer-update-august-2025
Having the effects randomly be "less effective on certain killers" is massively confusing and leads to more knowledge issues.
I don't think it should work differently for these killers. it should be the same for everything, and if it becomes a problem you adjust those specific killers as needed.
Agreed. It should be the same universally

For survivors mostly (99%) but hen whats the right direction with ghoul?
Survivors seem to want him to get the skull merchant treatment
-
Slop is just a derogatory the salty survivors use. Dash killers are strong and that's why killer main like them.
-
This game is made for Tribalism
-
Remove kidnap tech, adjust lock on and wall hit issues. Then he should be ok

I hope BHVR sees this and fixes these.

Kaneki is "just a M1 killer" that can:
- zoom across the entire map in three seconds
- vault over pallets and windows, while also simultaneously locking survivors in an animation
- DAMAGE those survivors with power if they are close enough to said windows and pallets
- close distances extremely quickly and get a hit in by canceling power
- zone you out of getting to the next loop or window by literally jumping in front of you and body blocking
- put any survivor into the injured+mending state for free just by looking at them
Yeah. Just a "M1 killer". 🤣
Skill issue on your part

I though the same but every killer is to easy to play and they are buffing every killer recently that take any sort of effort so it just make playing killer feel boring I mean sure they want to sell sell sell is all they are worried about these days along with every map is so dry for suruvour now it not even fit anymore it just dir from spawn
Low mmr take lmao

You are kidding right?

I hope all the people abusing this get banned
