I'll celebrate the ban system every day it's here, because I was usually one of 2 or 3 chumps who got saddled with the rest of the game because some delicate flower, found one among DOZENS of reasons to DC. For once, i don't have to enter a game wondering how i'm going to be f**ked over by my own team this time, since it was a solid 50/50 chance.

You're getting camped? We all get camped, take it like a champ and move on.

Got slugged, crawl around and bleed out, or crawl away from the camping killer using you as bait. Your team either figures out whats going on,or the killer panics and hooks you.

Either way, I am prepared to sound utterly heartless for once and say, I really don't care what the excuse is, bans need to stay because its the only way I, and many many others like me, can get a solid game where we aren't f**ked within 5 mins by susie survivor DCing because of reason A. B and C.

Sorry, but my sympathy died up around 200 DC's ago. (over two years, that is NOT an exaggeration)

Yeah don’t buy this one bit.

Before if someone left it sucked but you could leave too freely.

Now if someone leaves in the first minute you’re stuck there and still screwed over no matter what.

    Its far worse than before

Your OP states Otz set out to prove NoED was overpowered, and he then proceeds to barely use it. I can't say much for the EU servers but the only place I see NoED on any killer is low rank or it actually helps the perk build. I'm not saying you're wrong, but unless we have the overall stats of the game on something like this, we can't say with 100% certainty that it's true.

Isolated uncontrolled tests have too many variables to consider, so these "100 Game stats" are really irrelevant. We need to take a look at the game as a whole. Then we might be able to know for sure. And BHVR likely uses this information to say things are "legit" "fine where they're at" etc.

Yeah he started out testing to see if it was OP, listed all the problems with it which we’ve been over a thousand times, and then he discovered for himself that proxy camp and tunnel is even more powerful. He admitted in a lot of situations survivors had no chance.

Proxy camp and tunnel, so lazy, not fun, works well. Only counter is to rush gens which is where NOED comes in.

Its a shambles. The fact people are trying to defend this playstyle as legit just goes to show that for some players ez wins with no effort -> making the game more enjoyable and balanced

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

The result is not surprising. It's surprising that a killer of Otz's caliber didn't already know this. I said this in the other thread where @Almo purported that camping works because of survivors' fault. No, that's half the truth. Camping works because of game design. Put corrupt intervention and noed, proxy, force trades and tunnel, and a 2k is almost mathematically guaranteed even in the worst case scenario. For the remainder, the survivors will be stomped even before noed comes into play. The "just do gens and punish the gens with a 1k" is an illusion and it works only with optimal survivors who must be on comms as well. Solos get destroyed by this.

The fault here is not that the devs accept this style as legit (although I find it questionable), but that they don't do anything to empower solos against this no-brainer gameplay.

I said it many times on this board. Camping DOES work. And it works well too.

Be happy that there are killers even in the red ranks that refuse to adopt this brainless style (shameless plug) and don't be arseholes to them.

Glad to see someone else gets it.

This thread isn’t just about NOED, it’s the “proxy camp, tunnel and NOED” playstyle that I would genuinely say 90%+ of killers use. At least on EU servers.

It’s low effort, really not fun for survivors and works against all but the optimal swf teams.

Its bad game design to have a low effort play style be more successful than a high effort playstyle.

Also people need to realise that a lot of the time with this development team “its in a good place” or “its a legit strategy” usually means “yeah we cba changing that”.

As another user here said (sorry cant remember the name as I skimmed through) the devs consider Legion to be just fine. That really sums it all up.

I didn't watch Otz's stream, but I saw comments on this thread saying that at the end of it, Otz said that all the second chances, including survivors ones, should be removed. Of course, the OP completely ignored this and started to talk only about things who are unfun for the survivors, but not for the killer.

Last but not least, I know very well this user to know how biased (s)he is. In other threads, (s)he literally said things like "I hope devs nerf Billy into the ground, pls devs do it" and "DS isn't a good anti-tunnel perk because it's a skill check which survivors can miss".

So I think I rest my case.

    Ok 3 things..

    1) I stopped watching when Otz ended his experiment so I didn’t see the rest of his stream where he stoped playing in his words “in a scummy way”

    2) Yeah I think Billy needs a nerf. So what? A lot of players do. I said Spirit doesn’t though but somehow that doesn’t get brought up

    3) Otz stream proves that DS is not enough. He ate so many d-strikes but a 5 second stun was not enough. Not even if he took more than 1 in a game. About the skillchecks? Yeah nice taking that out of context. I was likely making a point regarding something stupid one of the many biased killer mains said.

I just want the game to be more fun for both sides, and for higher effort plays to be more rewarding than low effort plays. What’s so biased about that?

  • @CosmicParagon said:

Suprise suprise, the one game the Survivors didn't play into a camper's hands was the one game they had people get out. The reason NOED is so strong is because nobody cleanses dull totems. People joke that "if it glows it goes", but that's the ONLY time anybody seems to do totems.

But as I explained, solo players want the pip so they’re forced to unhook, swf just want to help their friend.

Killer mains saying “just do gens” that results in the person on the hook having a ######### game, queuing for longer than they actually get to play and the rest just hold m1 on gens with no input from the killer.

Acting like that makes it ok and legit is dumb as hell. Its dull and not how the game is meant to be played. Imagine if that was every game, just holding M1 unopposed, and 1 survivor picked at random is going to have their entire game consist of sitting on a hook. Sure you’d beat campers but who would want to play that?

It needs to change. If survivors are going to lose points for not unhooking and be forced to get altruism to pip at red ranks then it needs to change. Proxy camp, tunnel and NOED requires no effort and is too successful. Most games tend to adjust things like this but then this is Dead by Daylight so anything goes I guess

  • @theArashi said:

He purposely made some games reach endgame and then survivors still refused to finish last gen and died. He did try facecamping with LF and then finishing off with noed against survivors that tried to save few times.

Overall he had one, maybe two, if you count clown game where he actually threw the game by tunnelling one girl but survivors threw harder, where noed even came into play.

Otz just usually finishes the game before endgame even happens. Everything you said you pulled from around 6-7 games from which two actually reached endgame.

Survivors most of the time play altuistic because it's more fun that way, hardcamping is working exactly because of it. He didn't prove anything nor you should use it to prove anything.

It proves a lot actually. Survivors go for unhooks because its part of the game. Also nobody wants to be a dick and leave someone on the hook to die. As killer all you need to do is wait and pick them up. No effort, high chance of great results.

Low effort ways of playing should not work.

The excuse killers always give is “rush gens” which is how it seems like you’re going to justify this. Lets look at how his last game went shall we when survivors counter this playstyle..

Killer - circling hook endlessly wondering where the survivors are

Survivor 1 - Queued for about 7 minutes just to watch their character hanging on a hook before being taken out of the game. I’m sure they’re having a whale of a time.

Survivors 2,3,4 - Sat holding M1 for a few minutes

Sure sounds like a fun game to me.

Thats how killer mains want it though. They dont care if the game sucks so long as they win. Thats not how DBD was intended to be played.

  • @Smiler said:

I mean, you could just cleanse totems...

One team did exactly that while Otz was busy camping/tunneling out one survivor. They got the totems but the time spent looking and cleansing meant they didn’t have time to get all the gens done then as it was quickly down to a 3 vs 1

You knew that though didnt you? You just dont care so long as you get the free hooks :)

  • @coppersly said:

TBH until they change the objective and make it actually take brainpower and therefor more time, we need something to counter 3 minute games.

I don't use NOED myself as a Nurse main, but I get why it needs to be in the game right now. It's the only chance some killers get if they go against meta teams from bad matchmaking.

Not really. Swf are the main problem for gen rushing and swf are the only ones that will effectively counter this playstyle due to voice communication and one person willing to sir on the hook for the full 2 minutes to buy their friends time. Solos will waste time going to check out the hook first or sometimes when they realize they’re being camped they’ll give up on hook early.

  • Neither should NOED then

  • Legion. Tap M2 and hold W for the hit, occasionally tapping space to vault.

    second place would be Hillbilly

  • Once again a killer main pretending to be a survivor main pretending they “like the challenge” when in reality its just another killer that actually wants his games to be easy.

Yawn. Its overdone at this point

  • @illusion said:

Just came back from a couple of months off. Have not played killer since about a month before that. Too much stress, then you have to deal with all of the toxic survivor BS. Not saying all survivors are toxic, by any means, but the ones that are more than make up for those that aren't. The horrendous matchmaking just makes it all worse.

I started as a survivor main, then started playing about 50/50. Lately i have only been playing survivor, again. Much less stressful. Eventually I would like to get back to 50/50. We'll see how it goes. Without some major effort to balance the game, this will likely just be a game i only come back to now and then.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1226540#Comment_1226540

The killer can't win, sitting around the hook. Most he should get from that is that single survivor...unless they suicide or DC. I know that it happens, but it sure isn't the norm. The only time it works is at yellow ranks, when survivors stop everything to try and rescue the person being camped. While that is, partly, on the survivors, it is still a slimy way to play. It's not typical killer behavior, though.

They don’t sit directly in front of the hook making it obvious, but they’ll “patrol” as they would say nearby so they’re never too far from the hook. The idea being that they can get back there a.s.a.p for the tunnel.

It wins them games most of the time. Survivors just want to play the games, they want points so they’ll feed killers like this. They’ll hear the terror radius hanging around but they’ll go for the unhook anyway for the points. With Deathslinger it was always the same, proxy camps hook, gets a ranged hit on survivor coming for rescue before they unhook, survivor unhooks, Deathslinger slugs them the moment they unhook and goes to quickly tunnel the unhooked survivor. Now you as solo have half of your team incapacitated.

Combined with NOED as safety this wins most games and yes it does happen in a lot of games. I’d say 90+ easily at least on the EU servers. Some killers are definitely worse than others for it though.

You need good survivors or swf to escape. Back in the day these tactics only worked in ranks 10-15 but these days the red ranks are so watered down theres virtually no difference between most red ranks and the old ranks 10-15. People play exactly the same.

  • It’s at least a 5 minute time out for hatch tech now. Take solace in that.

  • Massively. Can’t play survivor anymore as its always the same #########. Killer gets hook, sits around hook and wins. No effort required.

Blame it on the survivors if you want but either way its the same result.

Meanwhile if you’re the first one chased thats it. You’ll never get away from the hook. You’ll be tunneled the moment you’re unhooked in almost every single game.

Killers constanty running their most oppressive builds too and moris in like a third of all games vs team of random solos with no items. Why so tryhard?

It was just depressing. Having to sweat your ass off every game and never managing to escape as people just dived at the Deathslinger camping the hook. If by some miracle you did get the gens done then hears NOED to screw you over because apparently nobody else could do a single totem.

Maybe once the update hits killer might be worth a try but before that it was just survivors running to the same god loops over and over and over again every game then having a massive ego about how good they are because they could vault ironworks, run around and vault it again. So skilful..

  • Theres no point posting screenshots. Some of these people will defend Behaviour no matter what. They’ll never believe you just because it doesnt happen to them.

I had a fair few crashes last summer. Also had issues where the game would freeze for about 60 seconds too. These issues come and go over the life of the game. Normally brought on by an update and fixed by a following update.

The game is half baked. It shouldnt have penalties this harsh but Behaviour couldn’t care less once they’ve got your money so I guess the company line is...maybe play Civilization while you wait out your 6 hour ban?

  • Well....at least it worked for the survivors since their ranks were close together. That’s more than what matchmaking usually does.

  • Jokes on them. They can derank all the way to green ranks but they’ll still be matched against red ranks.😂

  • I did the same. Moved to RE Resistance for a bit. It has a lot of the same issues as DBD and a lot of stuff in the game is OP and really poorly balanced just like DBD but theres way less toxicity. Some try to do it but silly dance emotes dont really have the same effect as 4 man swf tbagging at every pallet and running OoO. Likewise the masterminds can play dirty but its not the same as a wraith or ghostface just sat around the hook hitting you down the moment you’re unhooked. Also no endgame chat and no link to players profiles so no wall of salt on your steam profile.

Its much less stressful. DBD was the only game where losing felt really bad because unlike most games you didnt just lose in DBD, you had a whole load of humiliation thrown in and then got told to die of cancer post game.

  • Weeks? This bug was there back around October.

Even if it was being run on someone like Billy, Spirit, Oni, etc., my friends and I could still make it garbage by doing the same thing people did to old Ruin: Finding and cleansing the totems. Its existence as a Hex made it awful before; now it's a Hex with a mediocre effect at best.

But as Billy for example if you arent against sef you’ll be zipping around the map instadowning people quickly creating a lot of pressure, which means less people available to look for the totem and gen progress for everyone else will be getting deleted as they get chased off gens constantly or have to go for unhooks.

Honesty against solos its pretty busted.

  • Because it’s underrated. One people get over their emotions about it being changed it can be really strong.

However I’m not sure why ALL killers are running it. Its incredibly strong on the top tier killers, more so than old ruin I would say, but quite inferior to old ruin on low tier killers.

I’ve never seen a Spirit without new Ruin. Never not once. Most of the Billys seem to be switching to it as well. Its incredibly powerful on these 2 killers.

Beyond that I see legions and pigs take it but thats about it. I havent played in a few weeks but never really saw many of the other killers take it.

  • Because in their head they’re always the victim. You’re right I see this all the time too. Tru3 put out a video not too long ago where a trapper brought his best add ons, ebony, plays like a bad word and leaves the last person on the ground until just before bleed out. He goes on to constantly talk about how he must have had a bad game as does most of his viewers.

But with survivors its always assumed they’re toxic just because. No I’ve definitely done it myself been toxic to a camping ######### because of having it game after game.

Best part? When a killer tries to tunnel you all game so if you make it out you tbag at the end. You ask them why they tunneled and they’ll always say “I tunneled because you tbagged”, yet its only at the exit gates I did that despite them tunneling/camping from the very start of the game. This happens all the time. There are some real mental gymnastics going on inside their head to flip things around like that.

  • Survivor - DS, BT. Both are required if you want to play the game. Also inner strength as a personal choice.

As killer it depends entirely on the killer. Don’t really have a specific perk but Discordance tends to be used a lot.

  • I think ironically thats what kept people playing DBD and survivor in particular. Game after game after game you get some crap legion or freddy tunneling you off hook and winning, you get wraith or ghostface just hanging around the hook and downing you and the rescuer and winning, whenever you are winning along comes NOED to save the day for the killer. You just want one good game. You game where you hace fun, where your first hook isn’t essentially the last, where you feel you earned your win and it wasnt just against an afk wraith,or at the very least a game where you lose against a good player and not just someone who can just cheese with crapppy tactics like tunneling one out asap by hanging around the hook and then bringing NOED to secure the win. Moris also.

You just want a good game like what you had in the past. There used to be good games right? Killers used to play well and not be boosted noobs only winning by exploiting the bad game design right and participation perks right?

No the truth is DBD was always like this. Once in every 20 games you may find a good one, or maybe once in every 50 you might find a gem but most games are turd and you need to break that cycle.

I’ve been there. One more game before bed....and you end up spending hours. Now because you want points, not because you want to level up or rank up, but because you just want a “good game”.

Just wait till you face a Martin, Jan, Tyrone, and Val grenade death squad.

Im a Tyrone main and all I do is spam grenades and kicks. EZ wins every time.

Just go with turret Spencer, problem solved.

There’s actually a bit of a delay to Tyrone’s kick. Thats why if you control a zombie with Daniel if you keep moving around he cant get you with it as you stun lock him with attacks. Survivors often seem reluctant to use grenades against him too as they tend to save them for Mr X.

  • Killer is meant to have priority, unsurprisingly.

  • On pc its not that noticeable? LOL

Pc version is full of trolls. Survivors who bodyblock, killers and survivors that work together to chase down everyone else, and killers that insist on forcing people to bleed out.

As long as the trolls have their fun though the devs remain adamant that they “did a pretty good job so far” with the penalties. I mean disconnects are down so its all good right? Problem solved!

  • @Thatbrownmonster said:

    Now might I ask

why would the killer be extremely toxic to that specific survivor?

Were you toxic to a killer and he punished you after?

Just being good at the game is enough to trigger plenty of killers.

Of course this will be left as it is though because trolling is all part of the game apparantly

  • @Kellie said:

Everyone in that game sucked. Teammates died and did 0 gens, went down easily and escaped. Killer played bad and got a 2k out of it.

That sums up my games too. Everyone goes down in 5 seconds. Killer camps hook and people just feed the camper. 2 gens get done then our team is finished and since a survivor cant 1 vs 1 the killer you’re screwed.

If by some miracle the gens get done then I die to NOED and get left on hook even though I was the only that did totems and most of the gens.

Solo survivor is having to put in 200% effort with a 10% chance of escaping. Shame because back in the day the red ranks seemed less watered down and you had to play hard but not work your ass off like never before and you actually had a fair chance at escaping too.

  • It needs to be made less effective. Right now as long as you aren’t against swf then camp, tunnel and NOED will guarantee you good results for little effort.

  • Its why I stopped playing. Had a large number of trolls within a very short period. People that fast vault to get the killers attention then try to sandbag you to get you killed, why? Because I got to a chest first. People who work with the killer to farm me and my friend over and over again and the killer leaves them alone in return while they try to sandbag you. People who run OoO, find the survivors then motions for the killer to come over and again they farm you off hook and the killer leaves them alone in return.

You’re not allowed to leave the game you’re expected to sit there for 5 minutes and smile while the trolls have their fun.

Want anything done? Then the onus is on you to record it, upload it which takes forever and then fill out a report form....but you just get the “we’re looking into it” responce and nothing more.

I’m not surprised one bit though. Everyone knows DBD made its money on toxicity. They’ll keep allowing it to go on as long as the money roles in.

  • No, the trolls are entitled to have their fun and ruin the game for everyone else....apparantly

Imagine calling the person saying everyone can play how they want selfish, LEL.

But on a serious note, please explain how it is selfish to say that killers can play as they please and just because someone plays a certain way doesn't mean everyone has to.

For the same reason he can choose to not tunnel, other killers are allowed to and its because players can play the game how they like (obviously excluding outside clients or cheats and such)

People can play how they want but its a flaw in the games design. It ruins the fun for a lot of people and the devs need to make some big changes to fix it.

Just like how looping was a flaw in the games design, but overtime infinites got nerfed, pallets got reduced, pallet break times got increased, pallet vacuum went, now the remnants of infinites (the god loops) are getting fixed too and tiles are being changed so survivors cant change strong tiles together as much. Basically looping sucked the fun out of the game for a lot of killers and it has been gradully nerfed over time to lower the effectiveness of it. The same needs to happen with tunneling, DS alone isn’t enough, hell its still a perk which is equivalent to when killers had to bring Bamboozle for god loops.

Did you see how ######### he was upon release? You wouldn't even look at him and you'd be able to get him and you could hear if he went into night shroud if he was within 40 meters of you.

Now it's still broken, but it goes both ways now instead of favouring the survivor. I've had times where I've looked right at them and it's done ######### all, but I've also had times where they've been behind a rock and I've seen them.

Don't focus to much on revealing him, because if he tries to stalk you then he slows down giving you enough time to get to a loop.

He is the worst killer in the game for who needs to have some bug fixes, but please stop showing your bias and actually recognise that it goes both ways.

Dude are you still serious with your pathetic little whiny posts? We get it, devs mean, only care for killers, hurr durr.

Just stop with the attitude of blaming the devs of only caring for killers in every second thread you freaking post. It won't get anyone to take you serious, or to take your concerns serious.

Just for your information, the reveal mechanic can be bad for both sides. I have been revealed and have revealed Ghost Face behind walls as well already. The reveal mechanic is bugged in a way that can hurt both sides.

And again, most of your concerns are fair, but your continuous accusations of the devs only caring for killers won't help your case.

Dude I played someone with the exact same name as you the other week on the ptb. Can’t imagine there are too many people with that username on the ptb. You facecamped every hook as wraith, literally stood by the hook invisible.

    gtfo ->

  • the way to think of NOED is like the blue shell in mario kart. Its there only to ensure that bad players have fun too and feel like they did something.

  • It works well for killers though and thats all that matters. Funny they cried for GF changes and he got buffed, survivors complained it wasnt working correctly and.....ignored.

Anyway I understand why you’re aining your camera like that but you need to aim higher. You’re aiming it down towards the ground a bit, it needs to be on a slight incline. You’ll have more success revealing him then.

But yeah its so frustrating when he’s chasing you like this and not only are you trying to evade his attacks but you’re sweating your ass off trying to reveal him with no success or constant interruptions which reset the progress and then boom, exposed because the same rules don’t apply to him.

This is why I think he’s hands down the most awful killer in the entire game. This is just bottom of the barrel game design. Even Superman 64 devs would take one look at this killer and shake their heads in disgust.

  • @GrannyonAcid said:

Tunneling is honestly starting to feel like it's justified. The games just end to fast. Playing a bunch of games it seems like the games are over way too quick. I feel like it's quite common for a killer to get 1-3 hooks before the exit gates are open. Tunneling in those situations becomes mandatory if you ever want to get a kill. I see NOED a lot now. Something that was never used back in the day. Top ranked killers wouldn't used NOED but now they feel like they have to. These strategies are being used right now because killers are very weak and stressful to play. You can't expect for people to just accept losing every game. Eventually they're going to try and change up how they play so that they can actually be competitive.

You know why I try to go hard on gens as survivor? Because I know every game is a race against time until the killer hard tunnels one survivor out of the game. You need to make sure you’re mostly done with the gens by the time that happens.

  • you notice how when these bait posts are making fun of survivors all the posts are people high fiving each other and giving pats on the back? But when its about killers everyones triggered and salty?

Totally not a one sided forum though

  • And ruin the fun for all the camping wraiths and ghostfaces out there? Never.

The kindred nerf was dumb as hell and is just further evidence that BHVR caves to the most whiny killer mains

  • Killers: if you’re having problems with the game just play swf

Also killers: Devs remove swf plz

This kind of underhanded bs needs to stop

I'm sorry to break this to you, but punishing an unsafe unhook isn't really a bad/toxic thing. There's a reason it's called 'unsafe'. Constantly going for the same person even when there are other people around? Immediately re-hooking the survivor without trying to chase the idiotic unhooker? Yeah, that's tunneling. And yeah, it's getting more common because killers need to take shortcuts and often lose all empathy.

Thats why a lot of killers tend to go back and forth, try and bait the unhook.

Survivors just want to play the game as intended. So what are they to do? Leave other people on the hook every game? Because most “unsafe unhooks” are because the killer just proxy camps.

This os exactly the kind of selfish attitude that ruins this game. It doesn’t matter though, people just want the win no matter what, even if it’s a low effort no skill way.

Also once again killers saying bring DS/BT pretending its a genuine counter but the next thread they’ll be begging and pleading with the devs to nerf both perks.

    Disgusting.

  • She isn't the most fun but she isn't game-breaking bad like Ghostface or Legion.

  • He should be slowed down when revving like LF.

  • When I first played it I thought it was ok, but the more time I put in the more I enjoy it. It could definitely use some balancing and the controls could be tighter but mastermind is a lot of fun.

Ironically the biggest problems with the game are the same problems DBD has, non-existent ranking pitting people with everything unlocked vs people with nothing unlocked, long queue times for one side, and the fact that you need to grind perks/equipment/add ons to stand a chance. Not sure why some people are negative on resistance when all these problems plague DBD lol.

Please, use punctuation when you make forum posts. Run-on sentences are very annoying to read.

Anyway, about your question regarding tunneling. You should know the game is in a very unhealthy state for killers. Map design is abysmal and gen rushing is a legitimate issue. Many killers play scummy out of frustration.

Normally, tunneling and camping doesn't work so well against good survivors. But because there are so many lousy survivors polluting the player pool, tunneling and camping often works.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is the devs have poorly managed this game. So, it should be no surprise that the players are suffering.

I hate tunneling as much as the next guy but this is correct. Survivors just want to play, so if the killer tries to tunnel or camp they'll carry on trying to rescue, or bodyblock. All you can do really is rush gens. The only people this doesn't work against are swf who will work together and sacrifice one to spite the killer.

In most games camp, tunnel, NOED wins the game. It is true that it falls on the developers that such a low effort playstyle has a high chance of winning.

  • Clown is one of my favs, very nostalgic as that's when I started playing. I didn't realize it was for him, I thought it was the actual music of the game. Stranger things, Lunar new year and Hallowed Blight are all pretty good too.

However the best imo, is the All Hallows' Eve theme
