No idea why this isn't already a thing

iirc The maps are based off memories drawn out of those in the realm, right?
Not too crazy that someone recalls tumbleweeds, be it in person or on a TV show, and it ends up on a map that resembles what they think of the area.

fire up speeds up pickups but its 4 percent for every gen popped so in endgame its 20 percent faster pickup, but, its endgame….
As long as DBD has been out, it's kinda wild to me only Fire Up gives this bonus.
-
Impossible
Killers only win because killer is the easiest role
Survivors only win when the killer is bad and can't play the game right (i.e. no tunneling, camping, proxy camping, no gen regression, no mindgames, no lighborn, no slugging, no hitting off hook, no skull merchant, no nurse, no blight)
/s btw
-
Not sure how you'd balance this unless you make flashlights stronger again, in a basekit sense. Being able to easily avoid lights like this kinda defeats the purpose of flashlight saves.
That said… I am kinda shocked after all this time there's no perk that just speeds up pickup speeds like we have a breaking speed perk or a missed attack recovery perk.
-
Man, I love this absolute abomination of a killer.
Fun to play, fun to play against, not super weak but not a pushover either, honestly a good addition.

I find it funny literally there is a topic that says lightborn is so good right now and many of these killer mains are liking it and replying to it yet now everyday its a new bgp/flashlight/flashbang nerf 🤣
I also find it funny a slew of people claim Lightborn is a waste of a perk slot despite there being a bug with flashbangs that allow them to save at walls, yet many other just say 'use lightborn' when someone has issues with flashlights.
I don't have a problem with flashlights, for the record, just flashbangs that work at walls and background player being far too oppressive.
-
It doesn't need to detect through walls, it was it's biggest issue and made stealth pointless. It will only force more people to just play the top tiers and run regression instead.
Buff it for open spaces if it must be buffed, but don't give survivors free information. And before anyone says 'But whispers-' Whispers works inside a LARGE radius and doesn't mean you know the survivor is right next to you, it detects survivors on hook, and don't forget there's 4 survivors to 1 killer.

I had to do a word search to see if anyone else said 'reflective wall' because I have no idea if you're being sarcastic or not. 😅

- flashbang with background is far from being a problem friend, I use them and it only works against inattentive players. Even with the background, we have to be close to the killer to be able to save, we only have 1 second to hit the flashbang. If you are not desperate to catch the fallen survivor, you will never have a problem with flashbang and background players.
I once faced a wall picking up a survivor and still got flashbanged.
It isn't just 'inattentive' players, it's actually a glitch or something.

Don't knock Spies From The Shadows, pretty dang good info perk despite being a base perk.
Though I do wish Whispers would get buffed.
-
Current version with no addons involved works like this:
When teleporting, any survivor within 16 meters of a TV gains 1 stack of condemned and that TV turns off for 45 seconds. Survivors can see TV auras within this range as well. When a survivor takes a tape, they get no condemned, a TV furthest from them is assigned as their dropoff point for their tape and turn the TV off for 70 seconds for both taken and inserted TVs. Survivors can also turn off TVs that aren't their target but gain a stack of condemned for doing it, though I don't remember how long those TVs stay off.
Hooking a survivor locks up to 3 condemned stacks per hook stage, meaning those stacks cannot be cleansed through tape exchanges post unhook.
Sadako also has a lullaby when demanifested and cannot be stunned by pallets/head on while demanifested.
-
This, and I hope one day BHVR makes 3 dailies for each role so survivors get them more. I rarely see survivor dailies myself.
Heck, more BP for people willing to play both roles too.
-
I'll never forget when I played Sadako and a cheater breaking every hook instantly when I picked up another survivor went completely white knight in endgame chat saying every killer deserves to lose and never play because every killer is morally bankrupt.
This was 1.0 Sadako, by the way.
-
Pretty much sums up my current issues with Sadako as well. Some things feel nicer, but others feel way too easy when facing her. I tend to only get Mori's because survivors somehow still ignore tapes and attempt to pop gens ASAP ignoring their condemned build up until it's too late and they've got a ton of locked-in stacks. Otherwise, survivors who barely interact with them keep themselves cleansed while denying a lot of map pressure at the same time.
I wouldn't mind this, if the stealth weren't hard-countered by the lullaby radius. I've seen people say the lullaby should be bigger, which is a good argument against removing it for further mindgame potential. However, making it bigger promotes easier hiding as well, unless the survivor is in a deadzone so I would have to experience it personally to see which would be a better alternative. Map wide is also a very good alternative.
RIP VCR builds though, used to be my favorite mindgame. Alternatively, it'd be nice if the VCR hid all TV auras for 4-5 seconds every teleport.
-
I was worried about it starting issues with other perks combined, but putting that aside this baffles me more.
Aside the animation looking bad, I chalk that up to PTB jank, the stun being 5 seconds on the killer and the reward still being a 2-3ish second window escape feels weird. If it were 4 seconds I would at least accept that, but being stuck for 5 seconds as killer while the survivor doesn't get a whole lot of distance at the same time? I dunno, that feels strange.
Edit: Also I should clarify, 4 seconds of an escape window for survivor not a 4 second killer stun.
-
The only haste I accept is bloodlust, and even then tiers 2 and 3 are rarely ever in my matches.
I still think the way maps and powers are laid out, adding haste just makes things worse. There could be an argument for hindered, but even that's annoying.
-
Can we stop trying to make silly modes more than they are?
I'm having the most fun I've had in awhile playing as a tiny survivor.
-
I've actually had more luck as survivor than killer. 3 gens are pretty quick to do and pallets are still potent.
-
The more I think it over, the more I kinda like this idea.
- Tunneling would be massively nerfed since tunneling out the same person 9 times before gens are done is practically impossible.
- Promotes patrolling gens (or proxy camping) for other survivors instead of whoever is unhooked for maximum profit.
- Hooks become more of a focus than kills (I will get back to this note) and matches as killer may be less stressful.
The problems I can think of are:
- Current gen speeds. Problem is tunneling someone out is the best way to slow the game, and needing 9 hooks before anyone dies makes it kinda impossible to manage gens against halfway competent survivors. Would possibly need stronger gen regression to counterbalance it but I'd have to see the system in action.
- Endgame would be problematic for securing kills in general if you're not at 9 hooks by then, which is pretty normal for most cases. Could possibly make endgame even scarier and have any hook become an instant kill. Would need to rebalance/change perks like NOED though.
- Strong loops/tiles/perk combos would need rebalanced, changed or possibly even removed so most killers could keep up the pace. Good looping survivors can run the killer at least 1 gen at a time. We also have to keep in mind killers like Nurse and Blight over the weaker ones that definitely benefit from this better, though this system would make it harder even for those killers. Even if it's a little bit.
-
And people call me mad for always keeping lightborn on
-
That is… Actually really interesting of an idea. I'll need to think that one over for awhile and it's implications.
Aside maybe certain strong maps and the current gen pace of the game of course.
-
I gave up trying to understand after seeing one totem spawn next to the generator in the projector room on the new map.
They're not even trying to hide them anymore.
-
Is this suggestion just to make M1 killers worse?
-
I swear to-
Most players are complaining that the buff isn't fixing tunneling. High mobility and M2 killers will still catch up while this just punished slow killers against survivors willing to attempt weaponize DS like ye olden days. If it works, it's an annoying waste of time for the killer (especially paired with OTR and UB) and if it doesn't and survivors try to take hits off hook with just DS, it's a detriment to the survivor team because no killer is going to pick them up.
We need better mechanics instead of extra time on a perk locked behind a license.

The stun penalty doesn't mean anything for killers like Nurse who can just instantly down them again. I think 10 seconds of having power disabled is long but a 3sec DS stun with 5-7seconds of killer power disabled would be very reasonable imo and probably healthier for the game.
5 seconds of stun is better than nothing but disabling at least some killer powers upon DS activation should be the way BHVR handles this.
Yeah I read some other arguments around here and I'm on board with the change as well now.
-
- Buff Nightmare. Poor guy needs it.
- Nerf Huntress. Just a tad. The recent changes may be a bit much.
- Rework Skull Merchant. I will say I may be one of the rare ones that enjoys current SM, but personally speaking I think it'd be cool to have a system similar to Twins where drones can be remotely piloted to deal damage/deep wounds with claw traps and have SM herself deal the downs. Just have her deploy a drone at first and when it isn't used, it goes into the defensive mode and can be disabled so she's forced to send out a new drone.
-
Yeah but counter point
Aura reading buff

You realize Lightborn basically doesn't do anything here? And that this tech is pretty useless against half-competent killers? Then again you unironically use Lightborn so…
To avoid being blinded during this animation, if I'm having to deal with speed walking I need the extra advantage.
Sounds like someone just wants to blind me. I ain't falling for it!
-
It's strong but it's not OP in my opinion. I run it religiously to avoid doing kick regression or pain res and you can stack up blocked gens quickly. Plus survivors usually understand it's surge quickly and take chases away from uncompleted gens.
-
I am never removing lightborn, this has made me a believer in lightborn supremacy.
-
I'm fine with that as well. I'd also suggest making the survivor have no collision to prevent bodyblocking in attempts to force that stipulation on killers trying to go for other players.

Did I say DS/OTR/UB was being used or is and will be this entire time?
Was. As per the topic.
And going forward, we're probably going to end up with a similar meta as to before the shakeup: Anti tunnel/bodyblock perks and strong regression. And that's me hoping I'm wrong about the bodyblocking. Not looking forward to that.
OTR might need a fix, but it needed one from day 1. DS wasn't the problem.
DS topic wise, I said it was complained about in the past for other reasons. DS for what you harp on me about is the current way survivors use it. Just to clear that up.
And I just wish we had something to help with tunneling without sacrificing a perk slot and being forced to buy a DLC or wait out the shrine. Heck, OTR isn't that bad of an anti-tunnel perk by itself imo aside it being able to be negated immediately off hook. Paired with other perks, it becomes problematic and aggravating to face.

But you said "It's DS/OTR/UB being used offensively that's an issue"?
And I get what you mean, and there should be a baseline solution to the problem, -something- is better than a few more years of -nothing-.
Did I say DS/OTR/UB was being used or is and will be this entire time?
Before it used to be DS/Dead Hard/UB/Adrenaline, if my memory serves me right.
And going forward, we're probably going to end up with a similar meta as to before the shakeup: Anti tunnel/bodyblock perks and strong regression. And that's me hoping I'm wrong about the bodyblocking. Not looking forward to that.
-
I don't believe tunneling is required to win, but I do agree bodyblocking off hook with the right builds and buffing DS is a problem.
Mainly, buffing DS doesn't help beginner players who don't own the perk because it's licensed.

It… Really wasn't, my guy. There were complaints about the existence of second-chance perks altogether, about survivors always using the same set of perks, but not about non-tunnelling killers getting hit with DS.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3689586#Comment_3689586
OTR wasn't a thing back before DS got nerfed to 3 seconds, what are you talking about?
I didn't say anything about OTR and pre-nerf DS…?
Anyway, look, you can at LEAST agree that locking a perk that's supposed to help survivors avoid being tunneled behind a licensed chapter is a bad idea right? Regardless of any builds DS can be paired with?
-
Skillchecks are pretty easy to manage, so I don't understand why oppression has a cooldown to begin with. Not like you can repeatedly kick a gen anyway.
-
I think flashbang needs to be looked at.
Not changing what the perk does of course, but the detection on what counts as a blind with it is wonky. Being able to blind while facing a wall is a problem, but I also get survivors who throw it in front of the killer and get no blind even if the killer stares straight at it without lightborn.

Set off way too much.
I'd just like for people to see what dbd is. A game. Not something to start a war over.
Playing dbd for this long really changes perspectives.
My statement to ds being buffed:
Overall good.
Is this the solution we have waited for? No. Game health should not be locked behind a paid dlc perk.
This is a start. Nothing more, nothing less.
Probably the most sane take away from this entire argument. Regardless of whatever combination DS can be apart of to make it harder on killers trying to avoid tunneling, DS being a paid perk that rarely shows up in the shrine isn't the best perk to praise for a problem the entire game suffers from.

I call bologna. I don’t believe any part of this statement at all.
Don't believe it all you want, and your games may differ from mine, but I have plenty of survivors try to bodyblock to get DS value. Even against Sadako, who CAN avoid bodyblocks and they still attempt it. It's even worse playing other M1 killers.

And I explained why it's a problem to non-tunneling killers, yet somehow it doesn't get through despite carefully explaining it.
Likewise, I've explained why it's not a problem to non-tunnelling killers, but that doesn't get through either, despite carefully explaining it.
I don't even know why it's a bad thing to say we shouldn't promote using anti-tunnel perks to go on the offense while finding a solution that benefits both sides and all MMR ranges.
Because it takes BHVR two years to change a 3 back to a 5 and the forum killers are at it again, throwing out the anchor and clamouring to have it undone, inventing once-in-a-blue-moon scenarios to try and paint the perk as a problem.
Tunnelling is the issue that killers have been digging their heels in on the most. It's been a problem since the game's inception, but we're going to massively overanalyse a perk that historically stopped being a problem after the conspic action nerf, minus the EGC activations.
'Anything but DS', and once DS is off the table, it's straight back to 'no solution warranted'. And then we can go another two years without anything being done.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3689528#Comment_3689528
I've been here for as long as DS has had its deactivation conditions. No one complained about DS being a problem to non-tunnelling killers.
Again, as I have explained it a ton now, it's not JUST DS.
It's DS/OTR/UB being used offensively that's an issue. Buffing DS doesn't fix tunneling against most M2 killers and punishes M1 killers stuck with overly-altruistic survivors running this build.
I've even seen killers claim 3 gens and facecamps were 'once in a blue moon' and we know that ain't true.

they can probably give the aura blocking a duration so the killer can’t freely slug survivors
That way it can be a perk that helps killers who don’t wanna deal with flashlight saves
Could tie it in to the 15 seconds, I agree.
-
The only upside I can think is it's ability to hide where the survivor was downed. It's pretty good when paired with stealth to try and counter coordinated saves, unless the team is really good at callouts.
The slow crawl is probably the reason it's used as a grief tool and I do think that needs to go. Otherwise, the real issue is slugging out everyone. Knock Out just expands on it.

It's possible they will adjust victor's speed. We'll have to see in the PTB.

Yeah, and when I joined in, I did the same, and encountered none of that. I came in shortly before DS got its actual conspic action nerf, and there were -no- complaints about offensive use after the conspic action nerf.
There were complaints about its use in general, definitely, with tunnelling addicts being upset that they shot themselves in the foot, but nothing about DS bodyblocking.
I don't know if you weren't looking in the right places then, because I DEFINITELY remember people wanting DS nerfed and rejoicing when the changes came through.
Meanwhile, the tunneling problem wasn't and still isn't actually fixed. DS isn't going to stop it against decent M2 killers and low MMR survivors without buying DS are still going to suffer.

It could be lack of them being truthful (I'd hope not), but to be honest I think it's just that very few of them actually experience it since this is a higher mmr thing. I just think they don't see it/understand the issue. Or potentially some just only really play survivor and they enjoy the body blocking/swf coordination of it and don't want to lose it.
Like if I don't want any of the anti tunnel nerfed (as I said in my original post), and only changes to prevent the abuse of it, why would anyone be against fixing this? It makes no sense unless they know it happens and just don't want to lose it.
And it's wild the amount of people posting that we need the anti tunnel features or mocking me for just wanting to tunnel when I literally said in my post and even bolded it that I did not want to nerf the anti tunnel at all. I even said I'd improve it rofl. I don't know if people just aren't bothering to even finish reading the post in its entirety before commenting or what.
That's what bewilders me.
We're not advocating for tunneling, any sane killer who wants the game to be enjoyable for everyone would be happy if tunneling was less of a necessary feeling, but we're pointing out a problematic combination that does have a massive effect on the pace of a match and is being used in a way the perks weren't intended.
It's the same as 3-gens or facecamping was in my opinion. A problematic playstyle that was made worse with the right perk combinations. And even then, not all low MMR players have Decisive Strike, so buffing it does nothing for new survivor players being tunneled.

If you weren't on the forums, though, how do you know what the community opinion was on DS?
Steam discussions and Reddit, as well as playing survivor and being teamed with 2-3 man bully squads at the time.
Also, general research into the game that has little to no information in game will expose you to the issues of the game. Videos, mostly. I refrained from joining the forums for this long because of situations like this.
-
Anyone who says otherwise isn't being very truthful. I managed to do this build even with the current DS yesterday.
Bodyblocking doors especially wastes so much of the killer's time that they have no choice but to try and down+hook you because chasing their original target would take too long.
-
I usually try to think ahead of where the Xeno would run and the best way to conceal the turret, or force the Xeno to turn enough to have to manage it while I run another direction.
This image burns my soul.
