  • It's one of those questions that popped into my head years ago and just will not go away. It's almost like an unsolvable riddle. 😂

  • Here's the real question:

Why is society such that a guy can go shirtless (and show his nipples), but a woman has to cover ONLY her nipples? (Look at bikinis; they can show almost all the breast, but not the nipple).

Guys only have nipples because we all start as female in the womb..so why are their nipples okay? 🤔🤔🤔

Imagine telling people they should be forced to play a game they're not enjoying.

I'm not responsible for your fun bud. I very rarely DC, but if I'm having a miserable experience I ain't playin. If I want to have zero fun I'll study or work or clean the house. Gaming time = fun time.

Imagine thinking you matter more than 4 other people combined. That you having fun outweighs the commitment of finishing a game you started.

Whatever. People like you assume everyone has to put you first, and you're all incapable of actually realizing how selfish you are. It's just too bad you ruin other peoples fun in the process of being too immature to finish a game.

It isn't that hard to come up with an estimate if you've done it before like a mechanic etc.

    Have you ever done coding?

I'm a novice at Python 3, and I can tell you that you are wrong. If finding & fixing bugs was 'like a mechanic', then no game would launch with bugs, patches would not make new bugs, etc.

Unlike an engine, where a thrown rod or misaligned driveshaft is clearly the problem, coding has other problems; maybe one word was spelt wrong. Maybe it was a bad bracket placement.

Or maybe it's something else; maybe the code controlling the animations to the new event is clashing with the running animation. But maybe it's only on Dwight, but first they have to troubleshoot, line by line, ALL the running animation code, THEN learn it's Dwight, THEN try to figure out which line of code, then WHY it's clashing..etc.

So yes, it IS that hard to estimate when it comes to coding.

  • Also; BHVR is not the first company to never give an ETA on a fix. Not by a long shot.

  • @WhattheHeck said:

I play a Lot Multiplayer Games and that is the first Studio they dont say how long it takes Special 1 Day before the Event.

Again; they may not know exactly what is wrong, so they don't know how long it will take to fix. You can't say 'Well, Riot games gives an ETA' because League is different from Dead By Daylight.

They just don't know how long it will take to fix, so they don't want to give a time frame and be wrong.

  • Because they may not know?

Fixing bugs in code is not as easy as 1, 2, 3.

I wouldn't worry about others if you're worried about connection issues servers are out on pc right now so it'd only effect you.

Here is the trailer for the upcoming Archives from last Thursday.

    https://youtu.be/GWK7ieKRrYE

My problem is (aside from connection), that my mouse is on a table that sits higher than my shoulder (I'm in an 'eggcup' chair), with very little room to move the mouse around.

I guess I COULD plug in my controller, and just play Killer, so I'm not ruining anyone's game.. 🤔

(For those wondering 'why?'; I lost my apartment because my roommate did not pay her half of the rent for 6 months, and neither her nor the office told me. 😫 So I'm technically homeless, but couch-crashing at a friends while I try my best to get a new place ASAP)

You guys are talking to me as if I DCed 1 every 2 matches, when in reality I only end me faster against 1 killer with 1 particular build, that maybe I find once every 25-35 matches.

Keep your insults and aggressiveness for the people that truly damage this game.

Rage quitters do damage the game. Be it DC or hook suicide.

Then you should just not play. You're childish temper tantrum over mori's ruins the fun for 3-4 other people, and you're abusing a loophole to avoid being punished.

Just don't play if you're not mature enough to handle people using items you don't like. DBD is, after all, 'M' for 'Mature'.

    Why do you care?

You stacked the deck in your favor.

This is a 1v4 and when Killers do petty stuff like adding Freddy's Pink add-ons with Thana + Dying Light...

Even in the old days when BNP took your gen to finished... the Killer still got to chase players and PLAY THE GAME.

They didn't stare at a red bar getting dominated.

I care because it ruins the game for 3 other Survivors.

Even when playing Killer; I feel like crap if one player ragequits (be it DC or hook-suicide). Because now I came to try my best, but that'd be almost bullying when they are 1 man down in the first 2 minutes, so do I let them all escape? 1? 2? how do I decide which 2? Will they have fun if they lose? Will they have LESS fun if I'm not actually trying to catch them?

Just grow TF up and don't ragequit.

As a killer suicides are the better alternative, 4 skulls looks better and i dont risk a d/c chain.

But i am curious, how many do you think do it as a way to d/c and how many do it to try and get that sweet sweet 4%? Ive always assumed the majority are just trying to get lucky.

The people who try to get that 4% will struggle.

I've run into at least 5 people on the forums just today that said 'I suicide if I see <x>'. Hell, one person started a thread about how 'This is the only only thing I suicide against!'

Throwing the match screws over your team and is just as bad as DCing. Moreso, since you're abusing a loophole to avoid being punished.

1 hook Suicide = DCing. It's that simple.

Put on your big boy pants, and either play ANY match, not just the ones that don't hurt your feelings, or play a different game.

I bloody hate when people DC or suicide. It's a temper tantrum, either way.

That would contradict what the perk does, though. You would want the gates to open before you hook the survivor so you can activate Blood Warden. Having it regress would be counterproductive. If you want to activate Blood Warden, you can open the gate yourself. I have done this in the past and it's fairly effective. If you're really creative with it, you can slug until the timer is about half way up and then hook someone. They'll usually be pretty bold about the saves and sometimes you'll end up with a 4k from the collapse.

    TBH I forgot I can open a gate. x.x

  • @Spirit_Hag said:

lol well i can assure you thats not something the devs will consider as it not really viewed as an actual issue. May i ask what killer you were, the map, addons/perks?

Umm..A farm map (it was my first match in awhile; had some RL crud going on)..The one with the slaughterhouse in the middle.

I had NoED (useless because SWF), Remember Me, Fired Up, and Blood Warden. As Freddy.

I hooked someone after the last gen popped, but gates were at 99%, so Blood warden was 100% trash & useless.

@Peanits Here's a thought: Why not a perk like Blood Warden that regressed unopened gens on a hooking? ANYTHING to make Blood Warder not useless against this tactic!

  • @Peanits said:

At that point, they've got you beat. You've lost. They managed to get the gates ready, you failed to stop them (after failing to stop them from powering the generators). At that point, you just need to play as though the gates are open. You can always open them yourself if you're trying to use Blood Warden.

This was actually tested at one point. It creates a gap between solo players and groups with voice chat. A team on comms can have one guy sit on the gates and tap the controls to stop it from regressing, while solo players have to hope for the best or open the gate ahead of time.

Fair enough, but that goes to show just how much of a hurdle SWF comms is; it's so bloody broken that implementing anything to counter it is unfair to everyone non-SWF.

  • @Spirit_Hag said:

I mean, if that many survivors are still alive by the time they had time to not only finish gens, but spend the 16 secs or so to even 99% a gate, then thats kinda your fault as killer. They've earned their escape.

Or just bring noed i guess, but if you gave them enough time to finish all 5 gens AND 99 BOTH doors....you lost.

I had NoED. They broke all but 1 totem in an easy to get area, and then broke it 3 seconds after the last Gen popped. They were a complete tryhard SWF that know where I was and what everyone was doing at all times, 99% both gates, and ran interference like freaking MLG pros.

I guess it's a testament to how OPly broken SWF is, but since that ain't going away; exit gates need to slowly regress so sweaty tactics like 99%ing is removed from them.

  • @Mookywolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/777011#Comment_777011

the effort is getting to that point in the first place, and also getting the gate to 99%, and the risk is choosing to stay rather than just opening it and escaping immediately.

What risk? There's no risk with an NFL SWF. They get the unhook, they body block like the Patriots defensive line, and they all escape because it takes less than a heartbeat to open the gate in a chase.

    0 risk.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

It's stupid a perk can be countered by stupid ######### like 99.

Sometimes you can force the gate open, very rarely.

Oh yeah; and 99%ing gates means Blood Warden is 10000000000% useless.

Blood Warden only proc s if a gate is OPEN and no one opens a gate. Then they are at 99% and pop open in 0.00000000000001ths of a second and everyone escapes.

So yeah; this tactic also renders Blood Warden null and void.

  • @VexTheHex said:

    Nope. I disagree fully.

Why? It's a broken tactic that ensures escape. There's no risk to it. You 99% a gate (or both gates, in a SWF) and people just conga line out the exit gates with 0 actual effort.

  • @OGOzSnowChimp said:

I main the Trapper and trapping the gates is usually the first thing I do. To the best of my knowledge I've not experienced the issue you're talking about. I'm only a mid rank player so you might run into stiffer competition than I do.

I run into 99%'s every map. It's the sweattiest of tactics: A SWF group will 99% both gates at the same time, then run interference when unhooking friends like an NFL defensive line.

The Killer WILL NOT get a single down: You will hit the unhooker instead of the unhooked, then their full-health friend will run in and block the unhooker, while the unhooked taps the gate to open it & all 3 get away.

It's basically a way for SWF's to 100% ensure they all escape.

  • Of course, if a gate is opened, it does not regress.

Bbq is fine as is. I'd argue for a distortion buff. At least a buff to the number of tokens. Hell I'd be fine with there being no tokens and it lasting the entire match.

I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but here's a Distortion idea:

It can have, at max, 3 Tokens.

Tokens are spent to avoid aura reading, like normal.

If you avoid aura reading in any other way (hiding in a locker before your aura is revealed, being within BBQ's no-read range, hiding behind a Genny aura when BBQ procs, stopping healing 1 or 1.5 seconds before hearing the TR (while the Killer has Nurses Calling), etc: Gain a token back!

Basically; gain a token if you prevent an aura read based on the perk giving said aura read.

You cannot gain a token for doing the same thing twice in a row! IE: For BBQ; You can hide in a locker, then hide close to the Killer, THEN hide in a locker again, and gain 3 tokens. But you can't hide in a locker, hide in a locker, then hide close to the Killer.

It may be a bit too complicated, though..

  • @VexTheHex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/776781#Comment_776781

Sorry most of those are painfully obvious. Nurse's Calling is easily noticed when the Killer bee lines to you suddenly. Pig always knows when and where your removing a trap? Kind of obvious. You're using on of your perk spots for "potential" and limited knowledge/use.

How many people in this thread actively run Distortion? How many run BBQ? I wonder which would win a popularity poll?!?!

    Popularity != OP status

For non-programmers, that means 'popularity is NOT EQUAL TOO OP status.

OP perks are usually popular, but popular perks are not always OP.

  • @GennyFromTheBlock said:

There's a lot of yelling at me with a bunch of contradicting stuff.

If there are so many counters, why would limiting it to 4 be a problem?

    Y I K E S.

...Are you trying to claim BBQ is OP because it has so many counters? Like, the more counters = OP perk?

    That makes 0 sense.

It's a lot like dailys you get a challenge like kick generator, do generators, get hooks and so on.

Doing these unlocks lore, bloodpoints, progresses your battle pass (rifts) and gives you charms.

We will be able to once it's all out a long time from now.

They're developing them one at a time. But years from now when we are on like Jeff and Legion theme or something we will be able to choose to do the Claudette/Trapper Archives we are getting tomorrow.

Even the parts of the Claudette/Trapper story is time gated.

I guess its so the content lasts if they did it all at once you wouldn't have more to look forward to. You get to hope its your favorites and be excited when it is.

Wait. Archives are out? And I just lost my PC a month ago! Arrrrgh! D:

  • @YaiPa said:

Yeah, they should add something similar to gold express, where if you don't do an objective for too long, you're revealed to the killer.

    This game has 'idle crows'.

If you stay in the same area, or don't do anything for awhile, crows start to land around you. First one, then two, and then (at around 40 seconds of being idle?), the crows actively circle the Survivors head and caw loudly and follow them fora few seconds upon the Survivor finally moving.

And I do believe Spies From The Shadows works with Idle Crows.

  • The problem with that is that allot of the DLC characters are from separate IP's, which means they need to get the IP holders okay to create any lore.

I'm even certain that they had to run each characters lore for how the Entity got them past each IP holder.

  • Because stunning a Killer already buys a Survivor time to get away. It can also make a Killer drop a carried Survivor, allow you to blind the Killer, and just allow you to meep meep to the next pallet.

Wow. What universe do you live in that you can say that THINKING OF YOUR TEAM is entitled? You're not thinking of your team you thinking of "Wow if that guy was here i could've escaped BLAH BLAH BLAH

'My enjoyment of this game is more important that the enjoyment of 3 other Survivors & a Killer.'

Actually yes, my enjoyment is more important than yours. Why? Because just like you I also paid for this game to enjoy and have fun and if you're not having fun you can go find another match were you can have fun.

    It's not YOUR right to say  'I don't like <insert item/perk here> so I'm leaving

You're right it's not my right to say , I don't like <insert item/perk here> People can use whatever they like, but I have a right to not like it and If you don't like something you shouldn't be force to play against it.

    screwing my team over

This isn't true at all. If you have the right tools and skills you will be fine.

Learn to deal with it MAN UP... Like you said.

You do realize that disconnecting can get you banned, which means that no, you don't have a right to just leave if you don't like an item or perk.

DC = Ban means the Devs themselves have said your argument is wrong. Suiciding on 1st hook is just a way to DC while avoiding a ban. And you don't have any right to do it. You're whole argument is wrong, and the fact that DCing means a ban is the only counter argument I really need to make.

You're wrong, man up, and stop 1st hook suiciding. Either play the WHOLE GAME or stop playing. That means accepting keys and moris and perks, even the ones you don't like.

    Or. Stop. Playing.

Wow what an "ENTITLED" survivor. You think people have to stay and play crappy games because you say so... The hold "screwing over your team" is an entitled opinion sir. If you are a good runner this shouldn't be a huge issue to you. Second you probably think it's being helping if you teammate is sitting on a hook being camped or being tunneled off hook, don't you? You know people wanna play the game too not just you. Its not fun being tunneled, camped, and slugged or Moried whatever the reason my be every other/single game. People wanna earn points just as much as you do AND people have a right to leave a match if they aren't happy. If you don't like it deal with it. There are hundreds of more games ahead of you and plenty of people are bound to leave match at some point.

Wow. What universe do you live in that you can say that THINKING OF YOUR TEAM is entitled?

Rage quitting, be it actual DC, or hook-suicide, is selfish and entitled. You're saying 'My enjoyment of this game is more important that the enjoyment of 3 other Survivors & a Killer.'

If you're going to DC or hook-suicide because you don't like an item the Killer brought in; don't play. It's not YOUR right to say 'I don't like <insert item/perk here> so I'm leaving and screwing my team over'

So don't try calling ME entitled for claiming the enjoyment of FOUR OTHER PLAYERS should be considered in mine, and your, actions. Because you're flat out wrong.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

I always depip against a mori anyway because I suicide on first hook and take whatever points I got

Ah, the new way to ragequit without getting banned for it; suicide on the first hook and still screw over your team.

Man up and either win or take the mori. I seriously believe people who DC or suicide on their first hook should have whatever BP they earned given to their teammates.

'But Centrum! How can the game tell if it's a newby or someone suiciding?'

It can't. But new players will quickly learn not to try getting off the hook before losing out on too many points. Or they will struggle in phase 2. And thus the punishment will no longer affect them. It will only affect badlads who ragequit via suicide.

  • @Toxicboii said:

Ok, let me actually give a halfway decent argument why the Demodog's ability is NOT useless.

Yes, it may seem like teleporting from one portal to another makes him seem weak and ineffective, but the capability to teleport from one end to the map to the other in SECONDS while also being essentially invisible to survivors definitely outweigh the cons.

True, you have to get access to a portal in the first place to teleport, but it doesn't take long to put one down in a location. 6 portals can allow for massive amounts of pressure with the only downside being to have to get to a portal in the first place. And half the time, you don't even notice it sometimes. Teleporting does save time. It saves having to walk across the entire map. Late games where the gens are separate might be where the demo boi really shines.

The effectiveness of the portals is based on the areas you place them, just like Hag's Catalysts, Trapper's Traps, and Freddy's blood pools. I have seen people do wonderfully with him, even with needing to spend time to find a portal to go into.

Demo is, at best, A tier. His ability assists in the chase with Shred, and apply large amounts of pressure through the portals.

Thank you for the input but that also touches on the other problem with the Portals: Exit Time.

It takes long enough to exit a portal that people can WALK away from you to a hiding spot. Thus leaving no scratch marks to show they were ever around. I've seen, in high-skill Survivor play, Demo's use a portal 2 feet from a Survivor that they never see because the Survivor calmly walks away. (It's even easier if the Survivor is using the new 'Walk faster' perk).

To me, the portals just feel, at best, like they don't exist, and at worst, a waste of time.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

"Demogorgon can only teleport to his tunnels from on top of a tunnel. This would be like if Freddy could only teleport to a generator from another generator."

Freddy can't place a generator wherever he wants in a second. Demogorgon can also use the teleport more frequently than Freddy can his.

Don't use all of your portals and you can place one on the fly cutting out the go find a portal to teleport bit.

Yes but if you add the animation to place a portal (from start when you cannot move around, to when you can control Demo again), then the animation to dig into it, then the time moved underground, then the time climbing out..

It's almost long enough to have been better spent walking to where you want to go, except in the most extremely long distances.

The only reason they play with their food is because there needs to be a Final Boy or Final Girl.

Again; Lore is no excuse for bad balance. I get what you're saying, but it's not a good excuse to keep Demo the way he is, Yes; it's my opinion he's bad, not a hard fact, but you've given me no reason to change my point of view.

And that is the point of starting this discussion; to either get my view changed, or see if enough people agree so that the Devs can be encouraged to alter the Demogorgon. That's the point of player feedback, after all.
