You argued against yourself in your first post and "won".

Its not a loophole or a DC, Death on hook is part of the gameplay.

If you think there is something wrong with the gameplay that causes players to die "early" then that would be a more constructive discussion.

I already pointed out why your argument is wrong in my starting post. Just because it's part of the gameplay loop does not mean it's not being abused to dodge DC punishments while still gaining the effect of DCing.

No matter what you say; it's still, in effect, disconnecting. Even if it's not LITERALLY disconnecting. it's the same end result, so arguing 'They are allowed to do it!' is not fine. It's still wrong.

That's the whole reason for this thread; because it's a loophole allowing for disconnects that aren't disconnects.

They literally did, got caught hooked and died. game over.

"When you log in, you accept that a Killer (or Survivor, for you DCing Killers) will use a person/perk(s) you don't like. Grow a freaking pair and accept it or stop logging in"

Accept that death on hook is part of the gameplay you so much want others to think about.

You know what? You're doing nothing but arguing 'They showed up, so they can quit'

There's nothing to argue there. You are literally saying they should be allowed to leave the match without doing something because they allowed it to happen via game mechanics.

That's what I mean by 'abusing a loophole'. The end result is someone bailing early and screwing over their teammates. They still DC'd in everything but pure literal action.

Don't defend that. You're defending the toxic players that ruin the game.

No, u dont disconnect. u played a match and died, killers are supposed to kill remember.

If people think there is a "underlying problem" to why death on 1st hook happen then adress that, complaining that ppl die on the hook wont fix anything.

I'm talking about people who delibratly die on first hook to avoid PLAYING THE MATCH.

They did not 'play the match and die' or they would not be the problem.

  • @jeyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/98819/first-hook-suicide-is-the-same-as-disconnecting

If u die on the first hook then thats what happen, u dont dc wich is a completely different thing.

If you delibratly die on the first hook to leave a game early, you screw over your team the same as if you disconnected.

They are not LITERALLY the same but they equate to the same result. So don't argue semantics on this one; you won't win.

  • @Volfawott said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/788345#Comment_788345

Then you don't really have to go afk for a long time.

Especially if you get saved quick enough most Killers will go back to the hook, you just kind of have to stay there.

As annoying as it is there's always a way to work around these rules.

If you want to try to block every single possibility you then start to make the game very restrictive.

The Devs already took a stand that DC = ban.

This means they NEED to take a stand that Anything = DC = Ban. (Anything that equates to DCing ALSO equals a ban)

This means things like delibrately dying on first hook. This can easily be fixed by removing that hated Struggle mechanic.

Make Struggling automatic, and remove the ability to give up. Fixed. People can't suicide. People hate the Struggle mechanic anyways.

  • @Volfawott said:

Disconnecting is one thing but when you deal with first hook suicides ( damn that's really weird statement without context) it's a very grey area.

Especially if it's not the last two people it's a very poor move on their part as you said it robs both the survivor and the killer of a lot of points and a lot of perk potential (with the exception of barbecue and pop goes the weasel).

However you can't exactly force a person to play a game.

You take away their ability to disconnect effectively which by right you should they are just going to kill themselves on first hook

Take away the ability to kill themselves on the first Hook and likelihood is that they're just going to stand there afk until they get killed on struggle phase.

And if someone has high afk times in matches (it can be tracked and recorded, easily. The idle crows track afk time), they get timeouts leading to bans.

People will always find a way to cheat, too. Does that mean we should let them cheat? No! It means we keep fighting back into the little scrubs find it too hard to scrub out & finally leave the game, leading to a much healthier game where people aren't DCing/Hook Suiciding/Idling.

  • @Chatkovski said:

    Suicide is a legitimate strategy.

And it is not even a suicide, it is a triple failed attempt at escapes, followed by the failure of the struggle against the Entity, all this without any comrade coming to save us soon enough.

Killers do not like the suicide of a survivor, but enjoy the Mori unbalancing and shortening the game, adding frustration, in exactly the same way... Strange.

Seriously, this is not a desirable behavior either. However, I am not in favor of solving problems with stupid punishment.

Act on causes (because no one likes to commit suicide, and players want to... play), it's the only reasonable thing to do. And please remove this key harassment for the struggle stage... so boring.

Rofl. It's attempting to escape knowing full well you will fail, and probably running AT the Killer if you succeed. it's then avoiding struggling (not 'failing', it's NOT TRYING) to die so you can leave the match in 10 seconds because the Killer is someone you don't like, or they have a perk you don't like.

It's disconnecting while dodging the DC punishment, plain and simple. Don't try to obfuscate it. It's a delibrate death to run away of something you don't want to play against, leaving 3 Survivors screwed.

  • @legacy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/98819/first-hook-suicide-is-the-same-as-disconnecting

And what ? You want to ban suicide on hook too ? Lets be serious when someone suicide on hook the only one who get avantage of this is the killer cuz the rest of the team is fck. Stop flaming for some bp when the rest of the survivor are going to lose more than you

I'd rather have a fun game everyone enjoyed instead of an easy win or a gimmie because some scrub decided to DC/Suicide & screw over his team.

So I'll keep flaming people who run away like babies because I used a Killer/Perk(s) they don't like.

I can be upset at how it screws people over, even if it benefits me. It's called empathizing with people.

  • @ColonGlock said:

Survivors should be able to suicide on the hook: AKA trying to kobe, without punishment.

That being said, there should be a blood point incentive for staying in a full match to the end.

Doing a Kobe is one thing; if they fail, they struggle. They want to be on the match.

Scrublords who barely try, get hooked, try to escape and then skip struggling within 60 seconds of a match need to be banned.

iv'e also had people dc not just with those killers, iv'e had it freddy and even trapper. probably everybody except for legion and, sorry my mind has gone blank can't remember the name for the saw pig.

    The Pig or Amanda.

But yeah; everyone has a Killer they don't like, and if the Devs give them a 'free' (IE: No punishment) way to flee a game, they will do it.

First-hook suicides need to be punished just like disconnecting.

  • While I like the idea of DCers being banned and punished, we have to admit that it will do NOTHING.

People on this forum already freely admit that they suicide on first hook to get arund DC punishments.

It's 30 seconds longer for the same result; a screwed-over Survivor team & a Killer cheated out of BP.

And they will never be punished for it, because it's not DCing.

The devs need to do something about first-hook suicides, since it's the same thing as disconnecting while using a technicality to avoid punishment.

But until the Devs do; expect to see an upsurge in scrubs just hook-suiciding when Killers play Spirit, Nurse, or Doctor, or use a loadout Survivors don't approve of.

Having a killer that completely deletes stealth as well as the ability to perform actions is never something fun to go against. This is a game. Last I checked, a game was supposed to be fun.

Bottom line; we need more skill based killers instead of more free bp killers.

See, DCing is against the rules and bannable, which means the Devs even agree that DCing in a hissy fit is NOT ALLOWED.

This means, when you log in to play DBD, you accept whoever the Killer is. Just as the Killer accepts whatever loadout a Survivor uses.

Regardless of how the Killer/Survivor feels about the loadouts, they need to put the big boy pants on and FINISH THE MATCH.

I'm 100% convinced everyone who argues that DCing/Hook Suiciding is okay is the type of kid who flipped the board game if they were losing, when they were younger. They can't seem to accept that anyone but them matters & think 'If I'm not having fun (IE: winning, because losing is not fun), then my team should suffer from me leaving and I should never ever be punished because only I matter!'

  • @Zixology said:

You were playing as one of the most annoying killers in the game. I can't really blame them.

I can blame them; suck it up. Don't play DBD if you're not mature enough to accept that people play killers you don't like.

(The 'you' being the 'royal you'. IE: The disconnecting person, or a hypothetical player. Not you specefically)

  • @Mochan said:

    Why am I not surprised.

Now the normal game is going to look so bright it's like you're always in Freddy Dreamworld, with similar stuttering performance, and we won't have sound at all Survivors will hear Killer footsteps and breathing no matter where they are on map, and Killer will be deaf and can't hear squat.

I bet that's exactly how their current build of the game is right now, which is why they can't release it.

    Dude, chill.

It's comments like this that cause devs to stop caring about their community. Why try your best to make a game, just to listen to people trash talk your efforts?

    Chill.

  • I believe your view has to be stationary, too? Like, if you move it too much, revealing never starts, or stops. This was done to prevent people from just flicking the camera around until they found GF & then focus on him.

  • @AokiiSenpaii said:

  • @Satsui said:

Or you know, you can play without tunneling / camping with a nurse that has 3 blinks and noed.

    lol just saying.

    Impossible.

I've actually had a game where I was 'tunneling' because I walked away and LET a Survivor unhook his teammate, followed the only set of scratchmarks, and fund the unhooked guy. He was self-healing and did not even stop when I found him.

I looked at him for about three seconds, he kept self-healing, so I downed and hooked him again. End of match, he proceeded to screech that I was tunneling, a scrub, and 'Using trapper b/c you cant win in chases'.

And, the one I always share:

I hooked a Survivor, turned and saw his friend trying to sneak up to unhook, chased him, got the idea to turn around; saw a second player running for the unhook, so chased #2, turned around and saw #1 going in again, chased him away, turned & saw #2 going in again..

End of match? All 3 players (Hooked, Unhooker #1, Unhooker #2) yelling about how trash I was for camping.

It's 100% impossible to make Survivors happy unless Killers act like BP farms and never down anyone.

    Just saying.

  • 🙄

It's not the game's fault if players are bad, dude. And I highly doubt half-hour wait times.

  • @Usui said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/98114/freddy-is-unfun-to-play-against

It's as simple as this he's overtuned, and needs some nerfs, same with spirit. There's reasons he's unfun to play against, and i've been saying for the longest time if he's given such utility they NEED to take away his bs lunge range.

Did you not read a single post in this thread? Freddy's lunge is the same as every killer's lunge!

Freddy does not have a larger lunge! It looks longer because he's shorter and his weapon has a shorter physical reach. Thus, in order to reduce 'He never hit me with his glove!" moments, they made his lunge animation match his attack hurtbox, which is the same as every other killer, so it looks like he is lunging further!

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I have to concur. I don't think Freddy should be able to spam blood pools but that's just me.

Why not? They take a second or two to arm, they barely slow Survivors down, they are touchy on where they can be placed, and they do nothing if Survivors stay awake.

Why possible reason could there be to reduce how many he can have out?

  • @artist said:

I'm not wrong tho lmao. that's why it wont be touched

    No, you are wrong.

It won't be touched because it's not broken.

I find it funny that Killers have to down Survivors a minimum of twice per survivor (if no one saves the Survivor from first hook) or more on average; 6 times per survivor, which is 24 hits, in what is currently a 5 minute match. Survivors also have 8 second chance perks on top of those downs, and that's not counting speed-increasing perks like Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Lithe, Hope..

And yet, with enough perks well into the double-digits giving Survivors second chances & free escapes on top of a 2-to-down, 3-to-kill gameplay mechanic, you will go 'bad players use NoED!'

Glass houses, dude. Survivors have way more crutch perks than Killers. WAY more.

  • @artist said:

bad killers need pity kills or they'll quit

I don't know if I nearly got cut by the edge or if my fries were over-salted. Either way; whew boy!

  • I got reported for 'Being a no skill NoED scrub'. The ONE guy who died to me because of NoED (He was the second kill overall) called me that also said 'I have 40 friends who all listen to me and play this game. We will all report you for using NoED. Hope you want to buy the game again.'

My only reply was 'GG :) '

I also had a match where 2 players tried to unhook their friend less than a second after I hooked him.

I chased one away, turned around and saw the other, chased him, turned around and saw the first, chased him, etc.

The end of match was 'Camper!' 'No skill!' and 'Enjoy the -Rep!'

Who cares about rep? None of them followed through; not a single one posted '-Rep!' on my steam page. 😂

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

honestly the speed boost should be removed from it then I wouldn't care about it as survivor

I think the speed boost is to make the Killer a threat to Survivors with any sort of speed boosting perk. Without the Killer speed increase, a ton of Perks would render NoED completely useless because Survivors would just roadrunner away while saying 'Meep! Meep!'

  • I loved playing Old Freddy. The fact that I could see where everyone was when they were asleep was a huge help in chasing them down.

Sure; the fact that every unhook was a safe unhook because I could not touch awake players, and they could push Gens while falling asleep because they were safe for the few seconds before they fell asleep, and the fact that Self Care = Free Wakeup meant Freddy was utter crap applying any pressure...But he was fun to play!

But I do enjoy New Freddy more. He's more consistant in his danger, and since he's 100% visible within..what? 10 or 16 meters? means he's not OP with his little invisibility, too.

  • ...Freddy has a normal lunge. It looks longer because he's a shorty wearing a glove instead of holding a weapon, but it's a normal lunge. Everything you said about his lunge is wrong.

  • No. NoED is fine. Survivors can prevent it from ever activating by doing bones, which gives them 1k BP each, and there's a Perk that lets Survivors HEAL if they do bones.

Any Survivors complaining that NoED is too strong are 100% incredibly lazy and want to trim down a 3-minute Genrush game to 1 minute, 30 seconds. They don't care about game balance, they just want the easiest game possible & never play Killer, so they want it nerfed into unplayability.

  • I have to disagree:

    A) Fun is subjective: I have friends who only play Survivor because they hate playing killer. So how repetitive/fun a game is is 100% up to whoever is playing.

    B) Majority does not rule: No game should be balanced by 'more people play <x> side'. That is not balance in any way, shape, or form. If the game was 100% Survivor-biased, there would be 0 Killers and thus no game, regardless of how happy the 4x Survivors are.

Sorry, neither of your reasons really hold any weight on why the game is biased. Though I don't think it is biased; there's as many Survivors who scream 'KILLER BIAS' as there are Killers who scream 'SURVIVOR BIAS!'

  • Gens are repaired too fast to give the Killers a second objective at the moment.

I've seen matches by people like Ohmwrecker where the fifth gen is popped just outside of 3 minutes. Like, 3 minutes, 10 seconds or so.

Until this is changed, Killers need to use every second for finding Survivors, and giving the Survivors a buff that ALSO takes the Killer time to remove just makes it more likely the Killer will not get more than 1 or 2 HOOKS, never mind a Kill, before the gates are opening.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

I mean since an Iron Maiden is a box with spikes inside it used as a torture and execution device...

    Make Iron maiden useful lol

Maybe if the Survivor accrued some sort of Token; they go away at the rate of 1 token a minute. If the Survivor gets 3 Tokens, they progress an Injured State. (Healthy to Injured). It cannot put a Survivor in Dying.

  • Yeah, I can't agree with stunning GF when he's removed from stealth.

Not when GF can be removed from stealth by a survivor who can't be seen around a corner.

Not when GF can be removed from stealth by a Dying Survivor or Hooked Survivor.

Right now; Survivors don't have to risk themselves to Reveal Ghostface; they can see him around walls and corners, and even BEHIND THEMSELVES while working on Gens with their astral projection camera. I can't play GF without being revealed every 5 seconds because someone plays magic lookout.

A stun on Reveal would make GF quite unplayable.

  • @Zixology said:

Anything that completely prevents another player from playing should be bannable.

It's not preventing anyone from playing; The affected Survivor can still walk away & do Generators.

The beartraps take 2 minutes, 20 seconds to trigger.

A generator, alone, takes 1 minute, 20 seconds to complete.

So every Survivor working on a separate generator will clear 4 generators while the Pig camps that Jigsaw box, and STILL leave the survivor 1 minute (technically 48 seconds, since searching a box takes 12 seconds) to get back to that box & get the beartrap off.

I don’t know what language it’s written in. It’s built with the unreal engine, so I don’t imagine there’s as much opening a text editor, altering, and recompiling code as you’re implying. It’s a pretty long winded post when you have no actual idea what their development stack is like. I guess my I was being a twat with that comment. I think all the speculative posts about why the event is pushed back are getting to me. Sorry m8.

You don't open text files to compile code.

I can't speak for the Unreal Engine (Which is C++), but I use PyCharm for my Python 3 programming.

And no need to be sorry; sure, this was long-winded but I was trying to give folks a good idea of what bug-smashing in coding is like, because I was also getting tired of all the threads. :)

  • Best I could find. I'm not an expert, even in Python. And even if I was, I would not just know what language a game is written in without, you know, looking it up at least once.

And does me being wrong about the language in any way mean I'm wrong about the troubles with bug finding? Does it invalidate my post?

Also, if you know, out of curiosity; what language IS DBD in?

  • @hiC said:

So, I see you missed the point of my argument. People play video games to have fun. If they aren't having fun, why can't they leave? If you go to a party and what they're doing there isn't fun to you, you would leave, right? What's the point in playing out a match with really boring addons when you can just suicide on first hook and have fun doing something else.

You're clearly taking this game way too seriously.

I did not miss the point. You just seem to assume something; that you're (the hypothetical person in the match) the only one who's fun matters. That you exist in a vacuum.

You see, there are 4 other people in that match you joined. Who are also looking to have fun, and 3 of them depend on you to be a good teammate. Do they not matter?

It would be like if you promised to bring all the chips to a party, only to show up chipless, and then leave, leaving everyone who DEPENDED ON YOU FOR THE SNACKS hungry and chipless, like savages, because you could not be depended on to be mature.

Or it would be like a football team refusing to take the field because they are going against the Patriots. 'They're 7-0. They're clearly OP! So why would we play?' They showed up to play a game, so they'd play it.

When you log in, you're making a commitment to play a game and either be the best Killer you can be, or the best Survivor you can be. Why is it a commitment? Because the other players are freaking human freaking beings who freaking deserve to not get screwed the god damn hell over by one player throwing a freaking temper tantrum because he/she 'does not like <insert Killer>' or 'hates <insert perk/addon/perk combo>'

It has nothing to do with taking the game seriously or not. It has everything to do with thinking about someone other than yourself.

And it's terrifying how many people on here can't seem to grasp common god-damned courtesy.

As for Plague's power being Survivor-controlled, that is not entirely true. PART of her power is survivor-controlled: Corrupt Purge. Everything else? Is entirely in her power.

    That includes:

    • Shutting down all healing. The entire healing mechanic is chucked out the window. Oh you brought Selfcare and Botany knowledge? Useless. Oh you brought a medkit? Inner Strength? Hahahhaa. Not even the mighty Auto Didact works. All Useless!
    • Shutting down stealth. Oh you want to Iron Will and Urban Evade around the map? Sorry, can see your green glow from a mile away, and you're coughing so loud it wakes the neighbors.

Basically her power reads: "All survivors are Broken the entire game. They also cannot stealth. Survivors may opt out of this power by giving Plague a machine gun."

It's nothing like Billy and Leatherface not being able to rev because survivors put sugar in their gas. Billy and Leatherface don't have anything BUT the chainsaw. Plague does so many things without Corrupt Purge.

If that's true; why does the game force Corrupt Purge on the Plague?

Try it some time; you are NOT ALLOWED to not ingest corruption. You CAN NOT play the long-game and just allow every Pool to get corrupted so no player can cleanse.

If you try, the game will force Corruption on you and cleanse EVERY POOL. Hell, since it cleanses EVERY SINGLE POOL, the game actually PUNISHES you for having the danglers to try for a long con.

This also means the Plague shares control of her power between herself, the Survivors, and the game itself.

It just makes her a terrible Killer, because the Killer player is 1 of 3 inputs on Plague's power. You're not allowed to do anything besides let people cleanse and eat the corruption. No big brain plays. No long cons. Enjoy being hand-held even if it becomes a detriment!

  • Plague is not weak, but I'm against Survivor-controlled Killer powers.

Killer is supposed to be in a power role to be the, you know, scary killer. So when Survivors get to control fully half a Killer's power, I think it's badly designed.

It would be like..If Bubba & Billy had to refuel their chainsaws, but Survivors could put sugar in the gas cans to make the chainsaws backfire; it would be terrible.

Or if a Survivor could sneak up on the Wraith and remove the clapper from his bell so he could not uncloak for <x> seconds. Yuck.

Or if you could splash water on The Doctor & make him short out.

'But Centrum! What about Trapper & Hag? Survivors can disarm their traps! That's Survivor control!'

True! But in the case of Trapper, you still get the sound alert. The Plague does not get a notification of which Pool was used. Plus disarming the Trapper's traps does not bleeping HEAL YOU ONE HEALTH STATE, which means the Plague's power actually works AGAINST her ability to down people.

As for Hag; you need to be prepared (bring in a flashlight), alert enough to find the traps, and waste flashlight charge disarming them. And again disarming them does not HEAL YOU, thus Hag's traps don't work against her ultimate goal of killing Survivors...Unlike the Plague's power. Which heals. Why? Freaking why?

So yeah; Plague is not weak, but her power is 50% Survivor controlled, and also HEALS Survivors a health state. It works against the Killer's ultimate goal. So this makes her a terrible Killer, in my book. Just horribly over-tuned to the Survivors favor in a game where the Killer needs power to be a threat.

  • Freddy is fine.

Stop asking for nerfs as a stand-in for learning how to play.

Nerfs. Because I'm totally MLG! I just need a talent scout to find me!

    -Most Survivors Asking For Nerfs

  • Yeah..no.

If I hook someone and his friends are 3 feet away. I'mma camp. They don't deserve a free unhook for playing bad.

If I chase a Survivor and down him and he has a key & the hatch is visible. I'mma tunnel him so he can't use it to escape/allow others to escape.

You're rules basically say 'Give the Survivors free unhooks/escapes for...reasons'.

I sort of agree, but not really.

There are times when suiciding on hook makes sense.

For instance, I just finished a game against Pig where I got caught 5 seconds into the match, downed in a half a minute, got bear trap. Then someone unhooked me. Pig tunnels me, now I'm in a bad spot and can't even loop or prolong the chase, I'm down again in 5 seconds and back on the hook.

Now, I could continue playing, and to be fair I've had many games where this same scenario happened and I pulled a clutch escape at the end.

But at the same time, it's much more likely that pig will just kill me the moment I get off the hook. Assuming someone even bothers to unhook me at this point. I'm not interested in wasting any more time in this game, so I'll just not struggle and die, and move on to my next game.

Now if you are telling me that that kind of behavior is unacceptable, we can simply agree to disagree. You are not changing my mind.

It's a little different scenario from the Freddy scenario given, but that just underscores how bad some builds in this game are and how they aren't healthy for the game.

In your scenario, you did not suicide on your first hook.

You also waited to be rescued and gave the match a try. Which probably bought enough time for your team to not feel the sting of being down a player as much as the 60 second people here who go 'I don't like <Killer/Perks> so I will do nothing, get hooked, and force a death! Durr! Only MY experience matters!'

People acting like they have the moral high ground for not suiciding on hook against boring addons. 🙈

Kinda like people just want to move on to the next game where they have a higher chance of having fun before the original match would even be over.

It is the moral high ground because we're not so selfish that we can't comprehend that the other players are HUMAN GOD DAMNED BEINGS who deserve to have a fun round, too!

Holy crap! It's like treating people like freaking people is morally correct! Imagine that!

Please; imagine it. Try to become a better human being. It may hurt, but only for a moment. it's just your conscience finally maturing.

    Ah, I see your point.

Well, the main issue here is that there are really BS builds like Jump Rope Freddy which are just 1000% annoying to go up against. I can understand his feelings, I sometimes just don't feel like playing against certain killers because it's either hopeless or just a damn slog.

In those cases it is better to just suicide/die on hook then move on to the next game or do something else.

I get that playing online entails a certain level of responsibility, but ultimately you are not in charge of other people's fun. It is just a quick 5 minute game online, with people you don't even know. There is no need to get so uptight about it. If the game is just bad I don't see a need to prolong your suffering.

It may seem similar to a baseball game with your friends, but to be honest we shouldn't apply the same logic to real world relationships to online anonymous relationships.

Actually, we SHOULD apply the same logic, because you're still dealing with fraking HUMAN BEINGS.

And you ARE in charge of other people's fun in a TEAM GAME when you (using the 'royal you', not you in specific) when you suicide on the first hook to avoid a Killer you don't like, and thus ruin the game for four other people.

Suiciding on the hook is the EXACT SAME THING as disconnecting; you're bailing on the game and screwing your team over. it does not matter HOW you did it; it's the results that matter.

You bail, be it DC or hook, and your team suffers, because you were too much of a freaking toddler to accept that not every match is going to go your way, or only use perks YOU like.

(Again, using 'you' to mean our hypthetical hook-suicider. Not you, the person I quoted)
