I think it'd be cooler if it was more Entity themed, stark black and orange.

Bloodpoints don’t matter to me. I’m not thinking about stats or kill rates the moment I choose not to give hatch.
Emblems? I don’t care about those either—they’re outdated, just a few extra points at the end of the season. Emblems don’t really mean anything anymore, and after the reset, you’re usually back to rank 1 within a week or so.
For me, it’s simply a matter of principle. I think hatch is super outdated and a really unhealthy design choice. That’s why I’m always willing to invest that little extra time it takes to deny the hatch.
Idk.
I really dislike the hatch mechanic. That’s why in my games, survivors often have to wait and bleed. (Maybe for situations like “2 left, one down,” they should finally add an abandon feature for the slugged survivor?) But the other survivor can also speed things up by simply showing themselves — then you can send them to the next round quicker.
And yes, I would really love a hatch rework that makes these situations faster, cleaner, and simpler.
I think you take this video game far too seriously.

Whoa... it doesn't need a double (triple) nerf... yes I believe it needs reigning in a tad, but this is overboard…
What's with the nuclear option? Couldn't there be a more measured set of changes instead of applying 2 (3) major nerfs all at once?
There are only two kinds of BHVR nerfs/buffs: tiny number tweaks that don't matter, or complete obliteration.
-
I think DbD is more enjoyable when I don't think about statistics like winrates and killrates. I usually don't give hatch because it's time-consuming and I like earning bloodpoints and emblem scores for the kill. That's all that matters to me.

Is this the worst update in the game?
It's not "bricking consoles" bad but this is probably top 5.

As said, they left one of the staff member's voices in the audio file of Michonne's hooked voice clip.
Somehow not a single sound designer in this multi-million dollar company noticed.
-
Straight-up telling us we didn't deserve to know about the killswitch is disgusting. They don't respect their playerbase at all.

The only thing in the Rift that I want is the community design Unknown outfit, the detective one.
Everything else in the Rift is just lame. Even the recolors of existing cosmetics. Who thought gluing bones on everyone was a good idea?

I wondered what happened. I started playing 6 days before the last Rift completed and managed to knock it out in that time. Zero chance of that happening with the current state.
It's cranking up FOMO to exploit their players more. Simple as that.

My two take aways from the video/watching Otz use the perk on his stream are:
- It should not proc itself. It MUST only be from healing other survivors.
- The max recovery should be upped slightly just so Killers aren't punished by an anti-slugging perk for… Not slugging. Either that or make it so recovery speed is set to normal when conviction is active and returned to normal when deactive.
Those are just my passing thoughts though.
I think increasing the recovery threshold to 35% would be a healthy compromise.

It's a perk that punishes killers for literally just… playing the game. You hit someone that was vaulting a window? Oh too bad they get to get away because of it!
You spent some time putting pressure on a survivor you know is nearby, that could or could not be going for a save? Not even slugging? Oh too bad they get to get away because of it!
It's quite frankly an embarrassing perk design and even more embarrassing that it made it to live servers.
I'm having flashbacks to For The People + Buckle Up.

There isn't just one Native American culture. There are many different kinds. Some tribes would probably be fine with it. Others probably wouldn't be. It's safer to avoid the problem altogether.

idk the game's been going off the rails in terms of its overall direction since like, the year mclean left. when you have a dev team rework multiple characters multiple times over the course of a few short years and they consistently have to walk back their changes and waste even more time on something that they should've gotten right the first time (sans some number tweaks) if they had any clue about the design space they're working in…well yeah. there's 0 trust there. i can't wait for knight's 5th or whatever number we're on rework/rebalance. oh and trickster for whatever reason. and skull merchant. meanwhile they put a hag skin in the rift pass when no one ######### plays that character because she is one of the ones that actually needs changes…i digress.
the bugs i just find to be inevitable, DbD's always been bad when it comes to absolutely game breaking bugs. at least they're funny sometimes.
Imagine how sad it would have been if they went through with gutting the Knight from the PTB and then expected people to pay for and hardcore grind to the end of the Rift to get a cosmetic for him.

Take a guess why a zero skill instant damaging Killer is unpopular.
Combine that with his good anti-loop and crazy mobility, then you get a Killer which requires almost zero skill to play but gets results comparable to the upper echelon of skilled Killers.
Not to mention they're all running Bamboozle and Blood Favor to counter the few things that slow him down, so Ghoul matches are frequently a repetitive and agonizing experience.

Please never bring back this "funny" "quirky" quipping California girl. She would better belong in League of Legends than Dead by Daylight.

But isn't he objectively stronger now? Many here are saying he's brain dead mode which would indicate he is overall stronger. They say he was more skillful before but doesn't being stronger negate the need to be that skilled? If they made him more complex, wouldn't that be seen as a nerf? Skill comes from overcoming weakness. Removing weakness removes the need for skill.
I don't care. It's boring.

Why killers can't be buffed. While his slowdown of survivors was nerfed the speedup of himself was buffed. Apparently this was an mortal sin.
I don't care if it's a buff or a nerf, I preferred the way he was before. I liked my pink bottles, now they're useless, so the only way to play Clown is mindlessly tossing yellow bottles in front of myself with no thought required. This is lame.

I had absolutely 0 trouble finishing the last rift and I didn't even play that actively during that season. The natural XP earnings are lower but quests are more numerous, easier to do, and multiple can be accomplished simultaneously. It seems slow in the first week or so of release but over hte course of the next few months the rest of the rift quests, event quests, and modifier quests will release and the fragments available will increase significantly. I didn't even complete a signfiicant portion of the killer milestones, although I did get most of the survivor milestones last season and I was well into the repeatable tiers before the new rift released. I don't think it's that hard to complete the rift and getting to the deep rift (which is really the only part that matters because everything after that is reskin and you've already been refunded your auric cells) is trivially easy even if you barely play.
They massively inflated the numbers for milestone quests in this new Rift.

While I would agree that the Voice acting is bad, I am happy that they dont use AI for it. I would probably uninstall instantly and never come back.
However, the Voice Acting overall is pretty poor, mainly because you have the original Voice Actors from the Show for Rick and Daryl, but all the generic stuff is a random person doing it. It should have been either Andrew Lincoln/Norman Reedus or just a Voice Actor.
And if there is a clause that the actors dont need to record screams, grunts of pain etc., then they should have not hired Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln to begin with.
I also would have preferred the all-or-nothing approach, not this uncomfortable and awkward middle ground that just feels weird and off-putting. Andrew Lincoln's voice with some rando's grunting and screaming. I don't like it. Just another entry on the list of things this update botched.

I want a real TWD map. Be it the hospital, the prison, Alexandria, Sanctuary, I don't care — just make it a real map.
-
Ghostface. An M1 killer countered by being looked at. No mobility, no range, no info, just stealth that can be counterplayed by looking at him.
-
The game is riddled with glitches, bugs, and exploits. It's more laggy than it's ever been. The new Rift is extremely grindy and has almost nothing of interest to me. I have no faith in this game or BHVR anymore. If the game continues to be an abysmal experience for minimal and mediocre rewards, I'm going to pack up and quit.
-
They've been doing this since Ghoul, I think. Whatever they're doing to model hair now is completely busted on Switch, and other consoles too I think. I guess expecting properly-modeled hair is expecting too much.
-
The perk is called "Come and Get Me", I think its purpose is self-evident.
-
@LordGlint said:
I heard the perk is really screwing with the survivor hitbox causing things like Huntress hatchets to just miss if it goes through them mid vault.
I've seen video evidence that the perk makes you immune to Deathslinger's harpoon every vault. He can't hit you, no matter what. It's completely broken.
-
Mass Effect is even less "horror adjacent" than D&D and Tomb Raider are.
-
The primary problem choking all fun I could be having is the lag. Constant lag. Constant rubberbanding. I could play just fine last week, now I'm constantly being robbed by lag in every match I play.
-
I'm glad there's barely anything I want in the Rift because this grind is exploitative.
-
Chinese New Year and related items have been retired in favor of Blood Moon. Feels like a downgrade honestly, I liked the toolboxes that launched fireworks.

I think it is supposed to be both fiery and Entity-touched.

I'd like to think that Afton simply isn't a stealthy kind of guy. He's a pretty much in your face kind of persona despite "hiding" in a costume. I feel he has too much pride to skulk around. In the FNaF 3, I feel he's either just trying to find you, or just play with you before he goes in for the kill as opposed to literally sneaking around trying not to be scene. He stands quite proud and in your face on those cameras.
I agree with that sentiment.
I will point out that Springtrap does at least have a 24m terror radius, and the Undetectable after using a Security Door is a solid 20 seconds maybe? So he is at least a little more sneaky than most killers.
-
@LordGlint said:
I feel like if they had made the projectile a javelin or something, ppl wouldn't have been so quick to say it was a Huntress clone.
We could have had him throwing pizzas at people. It'd be a lot stupider but maybe there would be less complaining.
-
Because stealth killers are not very strong and can be very difficult to play and if you're going to get 10,000 new players who just want to play Springtrap, you're gonna have to give them something they can play without hundreds of hours of prior experience. Same goes for all the new survivor players who will have little idea how to handle stealth killers and would get noobstomped into the dirt.
-
He doesn't use a knife either but I don't see any complaints about that. He doesn't wield any weapon or have any special powers other than being good at killing people he gets his hands on.
They had to make things up to fit him into the game. It is by necessity. And they have emphasized repeatedly that Scott Cawthon negotiated everything, so he signed off on it. That's an official stamp of approval from the creator himself that this version of Springtrap is fine.
I really don't see what the big deal is or why anyone is upset that the crazy murder bunny robot zombie hits you with an axe.
-
I find it funny to hear exact opposite complaints about the same game. You've got some people saying the killers are too similar to one another and they want big game-changing gimmicks. Then you've got people saying the killers are too different and memorizing the counterplay to all of them is impossible.
-
I don't know. They released a list of games that are compatible from Switch 1 to Switch 2 and DbD is on the list of games that don't work.
-
Looks like they can't get DbD to work on Switch 2 at all. There goes my hopes.
-
For killers: Predator and Terminator.
For survivors: Frank West, Mulder and Scully, John Constantine, and Edward Carnby from Alone in the Dark.
-
He'll get some add-on nerfs and maybe some extra slowdown when winding up his axe throw but other than small tweaks like that, Springtrap doesn't seem overtuned or oppressive in any way.

Its still an axe….that throws…
I think they did pretty well, I just would have preferred a different power than his axe personally. Although I feel the chapter will be successful.
Yeah, it's an axe that throws. You got me, it's exactly the same thing, Springtrap is a Huntress reskin and all that stuff I just explained doesn't exist.
-
His axe isn't really that similar to Huntress's though. It had a much different throwing arc and range, it has a cooldown instead of a reload so he can't zone survivors as easily, it allows his unique insta-grab, he uses it to disable the cameras and doors for macroplay, and it has add-ons that turn it into more of a utility tool than a projectile weapon.
I think he's fine because he plays differently, even if it is superficially similar.
-
@ad19970 said:
I find him fun. His axe does feel different from Huntress axe, because of how it flies. You can get some very interesting and fun hits with it.
I do agree that it would have been nice to get something a bit more unique and original, but I also can't say I am disappointed with Springtrap's design. He seems fun to play as and to play against.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll play Springtrap yet, but he does look fun to play against. I really don't enjoy playing against Huntress but Springtrap is way different even if they look similar, so I'm looking forward to it.

Pretty based take, I'm leaning towards it too atm. The 'go next prevention' really hurts the more experienced survivor players, as its pretty clear when a match is over or your team isn't trying to win/doing everything but gens/going down in 10 second chases, etc.
Whenever I load into a match, I always play to win. Its not like any of us are saying 'oh the first thing a survivor does wrong, I should be able to go next and leave the match'. Its a combined # of problems throughout the match.
The fun comes in the form of a coordinated team, or teammates that want to win just as much as I do vs a killer that also wants to win and play effectively. And when it all comes together, the matches are good!
But I shouldn't be forced to sit in a match when I have teammates that waste my time, don't play to win, meme around, do everything but whats needed.
IDK about others but 99% of the time I've ever wanted to or have 'gone next', its been due to my teammates and not the killer (minus Skull Merchant meta). Its not just annoying to have teammates that are lower caliber or don't play to win, but also just plain frustrating.
And if your rationale is 'well why don't you get together in an SWF and then you fix all those problems?' No I shouldn't have to. I like solo que and the idea I'm paired with strangers who come together to win. Without voice chat. Without call outs. Without anything cheap to rely on besides in-game mechanics and tools. I shouldn't be forced to go SWF b/c I want teammates to play the game properly.
I don't blame people that want to meme or mess around - as long as they don't blame me for 'going next' b/c I don't want my time wasted.
Its not like any of us are saying 'oh the first thing a survivor does wrong, I should be able to go next and leave the match'.
You would be surprised.
-
Uninstall the game if you're so obsessed with quitting it.
-
The map is what I wanted. The power is as good an adaption of the games as you can get. The character is faithful. The perks are neat but not game-changing. The only thing I'm disappointed in is a lack of a security guard cosmetic for any survivor. Overall I went in with 0 expectations and went out feeling pleased with what we're getting.

Log in a second time, it gave me the bloodpoints.
