  • Honestly having a lot of fun recently on both sides.

Killer I’ve given up on using gen slowdown on my mains and I’m having a blast. I’m still winning most games like before, but it feels more rewarding to win because of my skill rather than because of slow down! And Ghostface just feels so good right now <3

Survivor is just as fun right now. I’ve mainly been playing solo and it’s great. Eruption/CoB/Overcharge was the main reason I hated solo survivor, but now that they are dead I don’t feel cheated out of wins as often. Camping and tunneling is still present, but usually they don’t get more than 1 or 2 kills in my experience. Escaping most of my games too which was rare with the Eruption meta haha

The only thing that’s really frustrating (on both sides) is the amount of people that just give up so easily. The amount of times where we’ve had 3 gens about to pop and then the first survivor goes down and they DC and then all the survivors die is to often. But bots might fix that soon!

But other than that, most fun I’ve had in this game in a while :)

    I can chime in here.

Being afraid has nothing to do with it, it's more to do with time management and priorities. Large scale Killer reworks require a huge amount of time between designers, programmers, and QA. In order to do these types of large Killer reworks, we need to sacrifice on other things such as new features, perk balancing, etc. In a perfect world where we could squeeze as much as we want into a single update, these sorts of reworks would probably be more common, but sadly that is just not possible. Everything comes with a tradeoff.

As for why these sorts of reworks aren't the highest priority, this is where it gets a bit more complex. First off, we're at the point where there are 32 Killers in the game and counting. Even assuming that each Killer is played exactly equally, this would mean that each Killer is only seen in a little over 3% of all matches. Spending a significant amount of time on an update that only affects ~3% of matches is harder to justify when it means sacrificing new highly requested features or a bunch of perk updates which could impact all matches.

Beyond that, there is only so much we can do to make a Killer appealing to everyone. Different Killers focus on different playstyles. Some may be focused on setting traps, others on keeping Survivors busy, some on chases, and so on. These different playstyles can help fill different niches. A newer player who's having a hard time finding Survivors might be drawn to The Doctor, for example. Naturally, certain playstyles become more successful in high end matches and others fall out of favour. Experienced Survivors, for example, are less likely to stumble into a trap because they know what to look out for and can predict where the Killer may have placed them. Each power also has a different skill ceiling, so while some allow you to continue improving almost endlessly, others have an upper limit by virtue of their design.

Making each Killer equally strong at the highest skill levels is not the goal. Dead by Daylight is for everyone, not just the few at the very top. Often times these Killers are already doing pretty well in the vast majority of matches even if they fall out of favour in higher end matches. In these cases, buffing these Killers to the point where they are competitive in a high end match would cause them to be far too strong in the majority of matches. This is a net-negative change. While yes, it may be better for you, it makes things worse for the majority of players. Everyone's experience matters, not just those with more skill. In reality, it is not possible for every Killer to be equally viable at all skill levels.

Something else that we need to consider are the players who already enjoy these Killers the way they are. Legion is a perfect example of this. There's no shortage of suggestions to rework The Legion's power to make them stronger. Yet in spite of this, The Legion is consistently one of the most played Killers. While they might not be the strongest in high end matches, there is still a large crowd who enjoy them as is. That raises the question, is it worth reworking a Killer that many people already love to play just to make people who don't play them happy?

The Trapper is also a special case. He's the poster boy, front and center on all the artwork. He's the Killer you'll face and play during the tutorials, and he's unlocked by default. This is all very intentional; new players are naturally going to gravitate towards him. His power is very simple and easy to understand, and it tends to be fairly balanced in matches between newer players. He serves a special role of being a stepping stone toward learning the game. Because of this, his power is intentionally kept as simple and intuitive as possible (pick up a trap, set a trap), and he is intended to be fairly balanced in these sorts of games.

All this said, that doesn't mean we'll completely ignore these Killers. We do make smaller balance changes on a regular basis, and larger reworks are still planned to release from time to time. But we do need to keep everyone in mind when making these decisions and consider the role they currently fill in the game, as well as whether or not our time would be better spent on balance changes that could affect all players rather than a select few matches. It would be a different story if there were only a handful of Killers to choose from, but the roster is fairly big at this point. The goal isn't so much to make every last one of them perfect for everyone, it's to make sure that there's at last few options that appeal to everyone, regardless of how they play.

“is it worth reworking a Killer that many people already love to play just to make the people who don't play them happy?”

I wish you guys felt this way before you reworked Freddy :(

Still, I didn't think Clown had the tools to go for that long of a streak.

Like, Nurse and Blight, sure. Even Onryo condemned I get.

But Clown? I thought that was surprising tbh.

Clown honestly is the one on this list that I’m least impressed with.

Pinky Finger + Gin Bottle is one of the most broken add on combinations in the game currently and from what I’ve seen, ProVengeance uses these almost every game.

If Pinky Finger didn’t exist I don’t think this guy would have that high of a streak.

  • They’ve stopped using them on the most recent maps, so I would say that they are a failure.

The only map that really did breakable walls well is Midwich (and maybe Saloon).

Garden of Joy’s main building could really use breakable walls though.

I don't know what costume you folks talk about but i saw a lot good Dredge costumes as well... If you share this Dredge costume with us, i will appreciate.

I was expecting Dredge will be winner. Even these costumes are not going to be in rift, they should add them to store. They are so good to waste...

I think this is the one

    image.jpeg

And here’s a bunch of other cool Dredge skins I found:

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg
  • Just looked up some of the Dredge skins and WOW! One of them absolutely deserved to win.

They should make it so 4 skins win, 1 set of BHVR selected skins and 1 set where the community votes.

  • Bounty Hunter Deathslinger.

You can only hook the obsession.

You can use any obsession switching perks.

  • Nice designs.

Little disappointed that Clown won again since I now I’m never taking off the elephant skin.

    Is the survivor Yun-Jin?

His power recharge is awesome now. It's probably because I just started playing him and thus I'm in low MMR, but I'm doing really well with him with just brown add-ons. I've only actually lost 1 game so far and for all the other survivors that have escaped... was cuz I was being nice. Doing the Ghostface T bag dance is fun.

His brown add ons are honestly some of his best, especially the faster stalking one. I only ever run that and the power recharge one haha

  • The recent buffs he got made him feel a lot better.

He was always my main but he just keeps getting better!

Aside from Trapper, all Killers are decent. Sadako even gets buffed a bit with the next Midchapter (granted, nerfing her strongest playstyle, but overall increasing her powerlevel). Trickster and Doctor are not weak at all, but they require some practice.

And well, how would YOU buff those Killers? With keeping their design in mind? I always see "Buff Killers!", but nobody even bothers to think how to buff them (because it is not easy to do...).

Sadako’s changes do not increase her overall power level. It’s nerf even outside of Condemn Strat.

As for buffing killers, a lot of them it is actually pretty easy to do.

For example, all Doctor needs is Polished Electrode base kit and to slightly reduce the movement speed penalty when he is charging his shock. That’s it. He would be a decent killer with those changes.

  • This is interesting.

Maybe I’ll start playing Deathslinger again and try to beat 35 wins…

  • DC penalty should never be removed. If you rage quit so much you need the penalty to be removed, I think you need to take a break.

And as long as MMR exists, DC penalty can not be removed. If there’s no penalty, there’s stopping me from DCing 10 games in a row to lower my MMR so I can stomp new players. Or just DCing as killer in general where no bots take over.

I understand having frustrating games, but there’s never a reason to DC outside of real life occurrences or hackers.

  • As Deathslinger - shooting a survivor that dropped the god pallet on RPD staircase and pulling them down through the little balcony gap.

  • Haddie’s Calendar base kit would be good enough for me honestly. Constantly TPing to locked lockers is the most annoying part about him.

Maybe a bit faster outside of Nightfall as well, but I would be happy with just base kit Haddie’s Calendar.

  • If the majority of your games are like this then I would suggest switching up your build, especially Face the Darkness. That perks is useless even in a build built around it.

  • The stats probably say he’s balanced, so they won’t change him.

Or maybe they want Tombstone Myers to stay and are scared to buff him because of it.

Either way, he’s the most outdated killer and a relic of old DBD.

    Please BHVR, give him something.

  • This was the meta shake up.

Eruption/CoB/Overcharge was the meta a couple months ago.

  • Legion - Blood Echo

    Doctor - Zanshin Tactics

    Ghostface - PWYF

    Deathslinger/Singularity - Starstruck

    Wraith - Dragon’s Grip/Eruption

    Dredge - Hubris

Pyramid Head - I’m All Ears

    Huntress/Trickster - Iron Maiden

    Myers - Monitor and Abuse

    Plague - Thanatophobia

    Knight - Surveillance/Discordance

    Nurse - Floods of Rage

    Nemesis - Nemesis

  • Old Shelter Woods was constantly complained about. Dead Dawg might be killer sided for the most part, but it has one of the strongest main buildings in the game so it balances out I guess. Lery's is only killer sided for some killers and one of the worst maps for others, so I don't think it's really killer sided.

Midwich is probably the most killer sided map but that's still killer dependant. For instance Nurse is basically a guaranteed 4K, but Trapper or Deathslinger struggle.

It's harder to complain about killer sided maps because it's dependant on the killer they are playing.

And might just be me, but playing on Midwich or Salon as survivor does not feel anywhere near as bad as playing Killer on Garden or Borgo...

    @LobbyDodgerLeonidas said:

How is Lery's a killer sided map? It's gigantic, it has lots of strong loops and windows, it destroys ranged killers (ESP in the MFT meta) and the S tier killers, you can't defend the doors in EGC, and it doesn't spawn such tight 3-gens and 4-gens anymore (I believe they changed this when they adjusted Haddonfield gen spawns). There's no way this map is good for anyone besides maybe like Ghostface

Probably an unpopular opinion but as Ghostface I hate Lery's. Yes you can get some sneaky hits, but there's no good sight lines to stalk people. Every gen is constantly blocked behind a wall or object so you either have to get real close to stalk or go out of your way to go to a different path to stalk. I personally prefer The Game as Ghostface to Lery haha.

I can see the argument for Borgo, but I think people that think that Ormond is fine just don't play M1 killers with no mobility ability.

honestly, it really is an issue.

I only really play M1 killers (mostly Ghostface and Legion). Ormond is not a good map, but it’s no where near as bad as the 3 I listed (in my opinion)

Don’t get me wrong I do hate playing on the map, there’s so many pallets in close proximity to each other. However I don’t think it needs changes as badly as some other maps. It’s a hard map for killer, but unlike Garden or Borgo I don’t ever really feel like it’s impossible to win.

I would love them to make scratch marks a bit easier to see in the snow though.

  • Ormond isn’t too bad. Borgo and Cowshed are much worse. Thankfully Cowshed is getting updated though.

Garden, Badham, Borgo are the 3 main maps that need changes now.

  • Whispers range isn’t the issue with it, it’s just outclassed by a lot of other tracking perks that it’s not really useful anymore in comparison.

But for what it does, 32M is perfect. The only thing Whispers does better than other tracking perks is let you know whether walking to a section of the map is worth your time or not. Any bigger or smaller would mess with that.

  • Depends if I had fun.

If it was a completely miserable match and I only got a 2k because they decided to throw towards the end, I consider that a loss.

But if it was a fun game or it was a really close game against skilled players, I consider that a win :)

  • Buckle Up + For the People is going to be annoying to deal with

  • It’s in Netflix’s hands whether they return or not. Cote mentioned awhile ago that they’ve tried but Netflix is hard to work with.

So unless Netflix suddenly changes their mind, they probably won’t ever return.

  • They listened and are nerfing Spirit’s add ons, so I have hope that they’ll touch Blight’s add ons eventually.

  • Yes please. Silent totem cleansing isn’t even that strong of an effect.

And please also revert the Pharmacy changes too!

5 seconds is not so much. It's okey to punish killer for tunnelling. Actually it should be buffed even more. Like it will work for both hook states, 2 seconds Sprint Burst after stun.

Tunnelling should not be easy. If you are gonna risk it, it should be high risk high reward play. And it should cost you game when you fail.

Atm tunnelling is so free, that's why killers tunnels so much.

Tunnelling should be punished, but buffing DS too much would make it abusable to non-tunnellers as well. If I get a 5 second stun and a Sprint Burst effect, what’s stopping me from just body blocking the killer every time I’m unhooked?

Tunnelling needs to be addressed, but giga buffing an already decent perk is not the way to go. Add some base kit anti-tunnel mechanic.

Heck, make current DS base kit and rework DS into something else. Or something else, I don’t know. Just don’t make the best way to deal with tunnelling behind a perk that can be abused.

  • 5 seconds is too much, it still doesn’t make the perk much better against top tier killer but becomes too punishing against low tier ones.

I personally think DS is fine as it is and if they want to deal with tunnelling, make it base kit and not tied to a perk.

But if DS were to get any changes, the best one would be to either make it activate on both hook states (OtR can be used twice so DS could as well) or have the stun apply AFTER the survivor can move again (so a 4 second stun overall basically)

  • Most killers are actually fun to play against, it’s my teammates that make the game unfun.

Knight is fun to play against as long as they don’t just 3 gen.

Old Freddy was better than current Freddy.

Spies From the Shadows is underrated.

DS and DH are still good perks, they just aren’t meta anymore.

Never Sleep Legion is boring compared to regular Legion

Reassurance should have been a general perk and not behind a paywall

idk, honestly it's just Leon and Ada. Rebecca and Jill players are usually average or even high level, legendary skins are also usually good for obvious reasons. I don't really think license characters any different from originals.

Laurie is usually little below then averages.

Cheryl is definitely higher then average, although weird enough her legendaries tend to be worse players.

Ash is also usually higher then average.

Yoichi, Tapp and Quentin are quite rare, but i wouldn't say they're bad players, also average.

In my experience it’s the opposite.

Ada players are usually pretty skilled players whereas Jill and Rebecca players have no idea what they are doing.

If there’s any survivor I expect to see running full meta, it’s Ada.

Leon and Claire are always the weakest link though.

  • Spirit and Blight.

    And Tombstone Piece.

  • Only his add ons should be nerfed, his base kit is fine as it is.

His add ons should function more like Wesker’s where they don’t modify his power too much.

  • Expose invitation is honestly not that great compared to pallet break. That’s the strongest invitation power by far.

There was only one event which favored survivors. It was first Snowman. And even it countered by a lot killers, only m1 killers got problem. Second Snowman event just changed to favor killers. And now this is 2nd event which favor killers again.

I don't know what you are talking about but events are lately favors killers so much.

Second Snowman event was not killer sided. The Snowmen were useless in both sides and just used as a bit of fun.

This is the only event so far to be killer sided.

  • Made for This isn’t worse than old Dead Hard.

Also I disagree with Legion. Most of the game is spent injured against him, so survivors just have a permanent 3% against him. I don’t really see what advantage Legion gets against that.

Trapper isint weak by any means, there’s a difference between being the weakest killer in the game vs the person who’s actually playing him, with that being said trapper shouldn’t get buffed because they lost to a good coordinated Swf who barely got 4kd by a knowledgeable Huntress player the game before. When you play 85% of the killer roster in DBD you take a gamble on the outcome against good coordinated swfs wether you get hooks/kills vs getting looped and gen rushed the whole match empty handed, the other 15-20% of the killer roster can consistently keep pressure against good coordinated swfs. So buffing the weaker killers would only make going against them more boring.. like I’d rather loop a cracked blight and have way more fun then loop a trapper and randomly step in a trap and get instadowned in the most skilless way possible..

I don’t really understand what your point is. Are you saying weak killers should stay weak because they lack skill/are boring? Or that you think only a few killers should be able to compete at high MMR?

And personally, I think a good Trapper is a better show of skill than a good Huntress is.

That's why his kill rates should be analyzed when he's not using those add ons. I'd be willing to bet its pretty low on the list. If they see how far his kill rate drops without those add ons it should show them his kit is serverly lacking.

I agree, but unfortunately I doubt they’ll look at it that way. If Tombstone Piece were somehow Kill Switched they might but otherwise I doubt it.

Another thing about Myers I noticed is that despite being regarded as the worst killer in the game, I don’t really see anyone asking for buffs for him? Maybe that’s another reason why he hasn’t received much love is because no one is actually talking about him?

  • Same reason they won’t buff Trapper - the stats say he’s fine.

He has some busted add ons and those inflate his kill rate so he appears in a good spot from a stats perspective.

You are judging Trickster's popularity on your zone and mmr. He can be more popular on different server and mmr. Like devs said Self-Care is more popular in Asia servers when they nerfed it.

Yeah in Australia he’s pretty no existent but maybe it’s different elsewhere.

I did find the pick rates BHVR gave out last year and his pick rate is 16th overall and bottom 4 at high mmr. Maybe his player base is just happy spending money on him compared to other killers.

Yea I haven’t had a trickster in awhile. Maybe he’s played more frequently in a different MMR range?

Yeah maybe. Or maybe he’s more popular in other parts of the world.

Or it could just be because he’s easy to make cosmetics for haha

  • @HugTechLover said:

I think cosmetics are made based on character popularity, and good cosmetics bring even more popularity. Fend and Nea have some high quality “sweaty” cosmetics, and you see a ton of both of those characters.

And then there’s Trickster who no one plays but still receives a ######### ton of skins for some reason.

  • If they do decide to reveal another characters sexual orientation, PLEASE BHVR, treat them better than David. Dude hasn’t received ANY skins aside from his Rift one since they revealed he’s gay.

Myers and Trapper perform well at low to mid, where most players fall. I guess really every killer does but I think people really underestimate Trapper.

Myers is mostly because of Tombstone Piece I think.

With it he is broken, without it he is the worst killer in the game. But because Tombstone Piece boosts his kill rates he appears “in a good spot”, so he doesn’t need buffs according to the stats.

Which is sad because both Myers’s base kit and Tombstone Piece are outdated and poorly designed but they cancel each other out and he statistically becomes a balanced character.

    -Hugh tech fixed.

-Pallet breaking removed from his kit, so if he miss he is no longer will be rewarded by breaking pallet.

-Speed add-ons, C33 and Alchemist's Ring nerfed or reworked.

I can understand Hug Tech and his add ons being nerfed, but removing pallet breaking from his power would straight up kill him. He used to not be able to do that and it was awful.
