  • Now that DH, COB/Eruption has been nerfed, NOED is pretty much the single unhealthiest perk in the entire game.

The "nerf" doesn't really do much. You get a speedboost that's pretty helpful in the endgame when survivors have the least amount of resources to use against you, almost always giving you a free down, which, depending on how well you did could be a free kill. Not to mention if you hook the survivor that 5 gen ran you next to it, there's literally nothing the survivors can do. Not even OG DH was that busted, you still had to showcase the bare minimum of skill by not yeeting yourself face first into a tree or a wall. Hell, a high mobility killer could theoretically snowball into a 4k after zero hooks.

Horrible design and is very telling of the developers mindset towards """balancing""" the game.

  • Except for the fact that if the game was balanced then one side couldn't just make the other miserable without them having any option to fight back.

I'm all for positivity and calling out toxic behavior, but lets not pretend that BHVR has done anything even remotely close to balancing their game.

They definitely caught me off guard with that one lol. From my estimation, that's about a 20 second gen. Probably the fastest I've seen one pop in a bit. They definitely came to play, but I don't think the outcome of the match is super important.

Just a fun little post that I wanted to share :)

Clearly you should improve your macro skills, no other explanation possible!

  • Funnily enough the stream DID mention something about cheaters, the open vulnerability disclosure initiative or whatever.

I wouldn't put my hopes up though, from the way the person in charge was speaking, it's pretty much confirmed that BHVR has absolutely zero idea how to fix the DDOS issue. Oh, I'm sorry, there's no DDOSing in DBD only "random internet crashes that only happen when playing DBD and killer, not when playing anything else or survivor".

The former dev also doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would just send them an email and tell them what the vulnerability is out of the kindness of his heart. We are royally screwed.

  • "We are not going to fix the abhorrently messed up reveal mechanic, but we are going to buff him!"

    Great, I ######### love it.

  • I have 2700 hours in this game and I'm currently on 17 farming Killers.

  • Because M1 killers have literally nothing and rely solely on tunneling the weakest person out with multiple game delay perks. Most maps are horrendously unbalanced if you don't have strong anti-loop capability, the majority of powerful gen regression perks were gutted and there was very little compensation.

People are going to screetch SkIlL IsSuE all day long but notice how they interestingly never post their insane 500 Wraith/Legion/Pig winstreaks or tournament placements.

  • How to tell at what level someone is playing, the thread.

    in Wraith Comment by Beatricks
  • 1) The new map is going to be miserable to play on and they will never fix it.

    2) The new Killer is going to be the third 3 gen Killer in a row and they will never overhaul it.

    3) The anti-facecamping mechanic will be very rough and will take some time until it doesn't punish playing normally.

I'm expecting a big L, but BHVR has an impeccable track record of underwhelming performance, so it might be even worse! I've got the popcorn ready in any event.

  • If you can't 4k on every single map with every single Killer, I really don't see why that's the dev's fault and not a simple example of skill issue.

    Skill Issue.png

  • Oh a content creator with preferential matchmaking that never plays against good teams, I'm soooo impressed. Watch survivor performance instead of mindlessly spamming stuff.

  • People have been asking this for years. For what it's worth, take my upvote.

  • If only the dev team could implement this whole idea in a controlled environment where the strengths and weaknesses could be observed and then the values adjusted.

Imagine if we publicly tested this feature on a server, gave feedback and the devs addressed any and all issues.

That would be pretty neat huh?

  • Demogorgon. Never watched ST and didn't care for the design and gameplay. Mained it for months afterwards and still love to give it a spin every now and again.

  • Noticed this yesterday and today. Very fast and stable internet, but I get ping issues and rubberbanding now and then.

  • Only if you are going to SWF or play Nurse/Blight/Spirit.

SoloQ is in a more miserable place than ever before, don't let people mindlessly bringing up the HUD changes, it literally solved nothing. Except now you KNOW your teammates are useless instead of just assuming it.

And M1 killers can only win if you tunnel from the first second with 4 slowdowns and you don't go up against a killsquad. Of course you can dunk on the occasional SoloQ team but those folks don't make it to high MMR anymore.

  • Sounds like burnout to me as well. Not surprising, given how incredibly stale the game is currently and how bad the previous year was in that regard. Time to play something else?

  • Literally the third 3 genning killer in a row. This anniversary is going to flop so hard my god.

  • Something something winstreaks.

  • My knee jerk reaction is to say that absolutely hate them.

    But.

There are multiple reasons why they are doing that. Maybe they are the legendary immersed gamers and are having so much fun that I don't mind being tunneled out by the Nurse.

Maybe they have an archive or a challenge to do.

Maybe they have died in 10+games and just really want to escape.

Those are all perfectly acceptable, even if somewhat annoying when I'm on death hook and nobody takes heat.

  • The only way you can solve DC/giving up is making a functional matchmaking so players aren't wasting hours of their lives and are actually invested in playing the game. And since BHVR adamantly refuses to implement a matchmaking system that isn't complete irredeemable garbage, we are stuck with this situation. People will give up, throw themselves at the killer, locker spam, go AFK and play another game. You can't force people to play something they don't want to. End of story.

  • I can't wait for the people that turned RPD from a horrendously survivor sided map with god loops to a slightly smaller horrendously survivor sided map with plenty of god loops and of course Red Forest from a humongous map with a completely broken main building to a humongous map with a completely broken main building and a billion clutter that negates multiple Killer powers to touch Fractured Cowshed and make it even more horrible for killer.

Oh and remember how they added a literal infinite to Shelter Woods? One of the few okay maps to play on as an M1 killer?

  • Killers should get a sacrifice every survivor instantly button. Survivors don't deserve to escape.

  • I really don't see why we should care. It's the usual corporate lingo of empty words to fill out the air time.

At best we'll get one or two streams where every question will be answered in one of two ways, like it always has been.

    1) That feature is not currently worked on, its later down the pipeline

    2) No, that feature is never coming.

Then they'll stop doing it again like they did before.

It just feels like BHVR has absolutely no idea what to do with the main game anymore besides securing big name licenses to inflate interest. Maybe it's just that last year was big with major reveals, but this anniversary livestream felt like a big bag filled with nothing but air.

  • Leave it as your last challenge.

Equip a yellow flashlight and Bond. Don't FORCE it. Eventually, the stars will align. I know it sucks, but some challenges are notoriously difficult.

  • + Searchable perks: Only took 7 years for a dev team to implement a basic search bar

+ Anti facecamping measure: rare BHVR W

    +Nic Cage

-Event: seriously? Spawning pallets and making survivors exposed? The game will be absolutely unplayable for the entire event, how did this ever go through?

-Map rebalance: In the same vein as RPD, Eerie and Red Forest huh? They are going to make Cowshed even more survivor sides somehow. Just make every tenth random corn a solid object!

Biggest nothingburger I've seen as far as anniversary broadcast is concerned.

  • Matchmaking.

    Doesn't.

    Work.

  • Git gud.

Better than the best of killer players since no M1 killer can compete against a tournament team.

  • Not surprised. Between the previous two disaster killers and incoming lackluster anniversary, they desperately need to attract people.

  • Because BHVR doesn't understand its own game. Those perks aren't anti-tunnel perks, they are bully perks for SWFs who play against nice killers.

A tunneling killer will hit you right off the hook which renders OTR and DH completely useless. The stun duration nerf of DS also barely gets you a few seconds at most.

There are currently NO anti-tunneling perks in the game, functionally speaking.

  • Sunk and cost fallacy.

If BHVR refunded me every single euro I've spent on this game I swear on anything you want me to, I'd never ever touch this game again.

  • It's genuinely pretty hard to tell. I don't have the link at hand, but either Hens or someone else did an experiment where very capable content creators were asked to tell who had a subtle speed boost during the match and it was absolutely not obvious.

You don't really see hackers flying across the map anymore, most cheaters just give themselves constant bloodlust 1-2 or haste effects, plus the occasional survivor that runs you to the edge of the map and then just magically disappear behind a rock (aura reading perks are really handy for that).

I'd say about 20-30% of high MMR matches have a subtle cheater, but again, I don't keep count and it's not quite as obvious as it might seem at first glance.

  • The problem with buffing or nerfing perks is that it affects matches unevenly. Unless maps and killers are balanced to be roughly the same strength, you can't really help out M1 killers because that would make certain other ones even more oppressive and unbeatable than they already are.

  • Unless you say something incredibly over the line and send in video evidence, I don't think so. The reports themselves don't do anything without a support ticket being filed.

  • It's been a pretty mixed bag honestly.

On the plus side: ever since the patch went live, I've maybe hit like 3 DHs and 9 out of 10 times the telegraphing is pretty clear.

On the negative side however, now all the potatoes are using more reliable perks that you don't just run around thinking that it makes you an invincible demigod, only to have the Killer possess a single brain cell and bait it out. All the players that would previously DH into a wall now get guaranteed distance to an infinite or a god loop. Playing high mobility killers is nice because if I'm Wraith I just laugh at it, but Pig, GF and many others are significantly more difficult to play now.

I still prefer the new meta, because at least it's not as agonizing as it was with DH looming over you every single time you chase someone.

  • Ever since the HUD update you can see that not a single teammate touched a gen while gave it your all in a chase. Why waste 20 minutes of your life for a guaranteed loss?

  • Learn a top 3-4 Killer and sweat.

Or, accept that the game has nothing even close to resembling balance and manually adjust your MMR.

  • Does anyone have a link to the video where Otz played Legion on Ormond against some random 3men SWF and got 1k? It wasn't even a killsquad, just a regular decent SWF that prioritize gens and know how to loop working together. Pretty good example how people like him, Hens, Tofu, Jund etc don't just magically make survivors look babies, they actually ARE getting babies. There's no conspiracy theory, it was literally confirmed by content creators themselves that they have preferential matchmaking when the previous hacker pandemic was peaking. BHVR isn't out there to get some random person making the unfortunate mistake of playing killer. They are just getting the squads that content creators aren't, hence why people not in BHVR's favor don't get those easy games.

  • At this moment, Sloppy Butcher. You are giving up a perk slot when most lobbies have 2+ We'll Make Its, rendering it almost useless purely on the basis of "the healing meta has been nerfed". Make Your Choice gives significantly better value. Even if an injured survivor goes for the rescue, you now have one less health state to go through.

Yes, you could make the argument that against potato survivors you can just go hit and run with Nurse's Calling, but meh, I don't like going into a match hoping that the opposition is bad.

I'm afraid they're going to go full sunk cost fallacy and double down on this disaster given some responses like "we're taking feedback into consideration" and "it was just an early version".

Please anything but that. Scrapping that whole thing would be one of the best decisions BHVR could ever pull. Just let the Killer mori the last survivor in the trial and move on.

  • I genuinely don't know anymore what's going on.

2 weeks before the patch dropped, I went on an insanely crazy SoloQ loss streak of being sacrificed 76 times in a row, more than double my old "record" (36 losses in a row).

The patch dropped and I escaped 11 games in a row.

Since then my escape rate is hovering steadily at 20-15%, the same as after the killer patch. I have not noticed a significant difference in either teammate or killer performance. I go up against blink god Nurses and completely potato M1 killers that I can spin multiple times in a row in the wide open with no discernible pattern.

  • It doesn't matter how much you want to force someone to spend 20 minutes on a match they have absolutely no chance of winning, you won't succeed. There's always running at the killer, spamming lockers and if all else fails, there's alt tab that will solve all your worries. I understand how frustrating it is, especially in SoloQ. But with the DDOS...I mean random crashes running rampant, hackers flooding the servers, the game spaghetti code genuinely crashing people to desktop who actually want to play the game, the DC penalty is hurting more than it helps.

People always say that when DC penalties are off the game is unplayable, but I never have quite as much fun when I can just literally check out of a 10k Blight clubbing on SoloQ babyseals. If BHVR made the game less #########, people would actually want to play. Solve the issue, not the symptom.

  • EU player here, didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. If anything, I've been seeing slightly less people with Cyrillic names, but that could be just dumb luck.

  • Yes and yes (although not for the reason you might think).

The first yes is for the obvious. your eScape Based MatchMaking ranking has nothing to do with your skill and game knowledge. Between a 1.4k MMr and 1.6k MMR player, the one with 1400 points might actually be the better player both in terms of understanding killer strength and weaknesses, possessing better a game sense and be a better looper, but maybe they are a Bill main that never leave unless the last survivor escapes, while the other person in question constantly SWFs, inflating their MMR.

The second yes is a little different. Imagine a perfect world in which your MMR correlates to your skill at the game (and again, SBMM utterly and completely fails to give even a remotely close idea of any one person's ability to play the game, but lets just have fun) and lobbies can be made really tight without running up the queue times. Even if you only had lobbies were all five players had the same exact MMR (and that was accurate) you would still end up with insanely lopsided matches. After all, a Nurse with 4 slowdown perks on Coal Tower vs a Pig with Brutal/Enduring/Spirit Fury/STBFL on Garden of Pain will perform completely differently. SWF/Solo, maps, items, addons, powers, mindset, these all contribute to why SoloQ is so painfully miserable they might as well just delete the gamemode altogether, since from the previous survey it seems they have completely given up and will instead focus on allowing players to form SWFs more easily.

  • It definitely evokes feelings out of me.

And I also, occasionally, miss Hawkins too. Not on most days, but I really wish I could play another scratched mirror game on that map.

  • The answer is pretty simple.

    SWF.

If you are playing SoloQ, then it's basically a free win for the killer. What's the current global escape rate? 10%?

If you are playing killer and you go up against a good SWF, it's basically a free win for them (unless of course you are a good Nurse,Blight,Spirit main). You can play both sides and have a miserable time no problem.

  • @LeFennecFox said:

    1. BHVR releases changes that are generally an improvement to the game
    2. Survivors throw a tantrum and dc over nothing
    3. Adaptation
    4. repeat

Ah yes, the survivor exclusive behavior that a certain other side never exhibits. Classic.

  • Same as always really, though I've been playing with Corrupt, Deadlock and NWO even before this patch dropped, always despised the gen kicking meta.

M1 killers are utterly unviable, SWFs are broken and maps are horrible.

Same amount of cheaters, I guess no increase is a good thing?

Not having to worry about DH is pretty freaking refreshing though, I will freely admit that much haha.

  • @jesterkind said:

...Hang on, what would making SoloQ "at least the bare minimum of bearable" even look like if the HUD update doesn't count? That's literally what SoloQ buffs would be, attempts at making sure the information exchange between solo survivors is at least close to the information exchange between those on comms.

Genuinely, what else would you even be looking for?

Information is great and in the right hands can easily win a game, but having teammates that don't realize the Killer is pretending to leave the hook so somebody rescues and then the first survivor is tunneled out from the match in under two minutes will lead to a loss even if you gave all SoloQ players every single information perk currently in the game. Something has to be done about matchmaking, there's no other way to fix what's going on right now.

  • Unfortunately, that is pretty much the case. SoloQ is basically a non-supported game mode at this point in time and the only fun you can have playing survivor is a SWF. With the recent HUD change and the player satisfaction survery focusing on giving people more opportunities to SWF, it is evidently clear that the dev team have completely given up on trying to make SoloQ at least the bare minimum of bearable and is instead looking to merge SoloQ and SWFing. Maybe check back in a year or two?
