  • The devs aren't good with him, so they don't understand how beyond broken he is.

  • I think PH's addons could use some nerfing, there are still 2-3 that I use.

  • People liked the chapter? What are you talking about?

I think you are conflating pre release hype with the actual reception of the chapter.

People were very excited to see DBD dabble in Sci-Fi, but the chapter itself was a huge failure and is mostly disliked.

Singularity is the weakest killer in the roster right now, Gabrial Soma is almost as forgotten as Haddie, both survivors and killers hate the map with a passion and the only perk that survived the release is Made For This.

  • Blight 4k at 4 gens remaining

Nurse 4k at 5 gens remaining

Blight 4k at 5 gens remaining

Aimbotting Huntress (you should have seen how her model snapped to lock on the target, it was absolutely crazy and completely unnatural, haven't seen anything like that in my 3 years of DBD), 4k without anyone even touching a gen.

3 gen merchant where I ended up DC-ing after the team gave up and the killer refused to bleed me out or hook me.

Yeah, very much fun is being had.

  • Knight, and I don't even go for a gen kicking, 3-genning build/strat.

  • Because people understand the difference between description and prescription.

I'm probably the most vocal member on the forum going so far as believing that the DC penalty should be flat out removed or significantly decreased so that only really notorious abusers get significant bans.

And yet I am also frustrated by survivors killing themselves on hook just because they are going up against a Legion. I want this game to be fun. I understand that as long as the developers don't do anything, people WILL find a way to not play a match that they are not enjoying. You can come up with the most convoluted ways of forcing some poor Solo players to be a Blight's bloodpoint pinata, but I guarantee you that those pesky survivors will come up with a way to get out of the match as soon as possible.

You don't treat symptoms, you treat the underlying cause. And the underlying cause is that the game is miserable to play about 19 out of 20 games and the only thing keeping the playerbase at a level even close to functioning is the fact that we can go next when we get the sixth 5k+ hour Blight main clapping everyone at five gens remaining.

Separate the sweat, balance the game, just do SOMETHING, because banning people will not be a solution in the long term.

  • Here are some actual hot takes:

    • SoloQ should repair one less generator
    • 4 player SWF should repair one extra generator
    • Killers over the MMR softcap should not be matchmade with a group that's not a 4 player SWF over the soft cap and vice versa
  • A Survivor escapes=they personally win.

One or more survivors escape through the exit gate= the killer lost.

Not sure I follow, but it works something like this:

    • You search for a match.
    • The game tries to find you a match with other people close to your rating.
    • If a certain amount of time has passed and it can't find you a match, it slowly starts to expand the search range.
    • The range expands until you find a match OR until it has expanded to the maximum range.

It doesn't prioritize anyone in particular, but the people who would notice it most are the people on the very low or very high end of the spectrum since there tend to be fewer players at the extremes. Since there's far more people around the average skill level, it's not common for the matchmaking system to expand much- if at all- before they find a match. But that said, the maximum expanded range means that players on the super low end and on the super high end would never be matched together, no matter how long they wait.

So then how is it possible that one of the most well known Survivor player that should by all reasonable accounts be well over the MMR cap got matched against a killer with 97 hours in the game? I understand that playtime doesn't equate to skill, but I find it impossible to accept that a multiple competition winning survivor was pitted against someone who only recently picked up the game and matchmaking was doing a pretty good job so far.

On the occasion I play basement bubba and manage to 4k I'll end up giving the last surv hatch. Usually, they don't trust me, but I still like it cause it shocks their expectations like "why are you doing this." I don't think it was me in your game, but good to see other basement bubbas plugged-in to that as well.

Might been me as bubba was you yui? If it was me I just like to give door to last one especially if I feel I was too merciless.

I was a Nic Cage on Asylum, the Bubba camped on the top of the stairs and I think two Fengs tried to save but ended up being dragged down into basement.

Still, interesting to see the mindset from multiple people!

  • I don't know how BHVR does it, but SoloQ is becoming more and more miserable with every passing month. You'd think that there was a lower limit to how bad the experience can be. And then you get three 10k hour Blights in a row. Cool.

  • Every time I get a daily with her I put on Brutal, Enduring, Spirit Fury and STBFL, never kick a gen and just go for chases. Either the survivors DC or we have a nice endgame chat.

  • Absolutely not. I play survivor every single day but in this year I was only once given the door, and the last time someone dropped me on hatch was back in either 2022 or 2021. Funnily enough this latest person was a basement Bubba of all people, I genuinely don't know why he did that after massacring the entire rest of the team.

I also often encounter survivors that don't understand when I'm letting them go. Did run into one this week that bribed me with their item. It's been so long I decided to let them go.

  • None.

I often read that Demo, Ghostface and Billy players are really nice and chill, but I've been BMed by them so much that at this point I have no respect for any Killer by default.

  • I think survivors should all spawn in the dying state at the beginning of the match. Rush gens now!

  • No.

Behavior has shown that you can get away with almost zero effort put in your games if you are lucky enough to carve yourself out a comfortable spot in a niche genre with no competition.

In any meritocracy based gaming world, DBD would have never survived its first year, let alone this long. Until there are viable alternatives, they are happy to take all your money for the millionth Feng Min skin while refusing to fix bugs that have been in the game since launch.

  • I've got 2.7k hours in the game and also enjoy playing M1 killers. Your experience is one that I share. Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely that BHVR will make the necessary changes to make M1 killers viable against efficient and decent looping survivors.

  • Depends on the numbers, but if I see a 0 prestige Meg or Claudette, I'm very certain of the feeling that we should not be in the same lobby.

  • As someone that plays SoloQ I would absolutely be overjoyed to see someone with a semblance of empathy playing on the other side. Couple of weeks ago I went up against a Clown that didn't tunnel me off the hook in the endgame, even though he could have very easily secured himself a 1K. Expressed my gratitude in endgame chat, but he said nothing. Wish the best for the person!

I regularly play nice as Killer and even when I deliberately avoid going for the death hook survivor where I could easily get them out, they'll still teabag at the gate. Really frustrating. The only time I ever get nice survivors is if I give them hatch or if someone DCs early on and I hit the gens letting them know that they can leave after getting 2 hooked.

  • I have reached a point where I'm a firm believer that with all the downsides a casual and a ranked gamemode would bring, it would still be a far better system overall. I don't care if I go up against sweaty killers in casual mode sometimes because in SoloQ I ONLY play against those and vice versa.

  • I can't wait to hear what the excuse will be when the devs lock the lobbies.

Dodging isn't the issue that makes the DBD experience miserable.

    Hockey based matchmaking is.

eScape Based MatchMaking doesn't factor for:

    - SWF/SoloQ

    - Perks (on both sides)

    - Items/addons

    - Map

    - Killer

So basically everything that matters. If we could magically ensure that every game played will only be with players of the exact same hockey score, the matches would still be one sided dominations. And BHVR has made it pretty clear that this is the system we are stuck for as long as DBD has an active playerbase.

  • It's a vicious circle. Every single time I'm having a rough day in SoloQ I switch to killer, only to get the sweatlord 4 men squads. Then I go back to sruvivor and watch the hud be completely devoid of any activity until the Killer has like 2 hooks.

  • Two months ago I was only a few levels from prestiging my main survivor, and when I was one pip away from Iri 1 I played the sweatiest Spirit game in my entire life.

    I 3k-d and depipped.

  • It's not even the playerbase mindset, its the fact that through constant survivor nerfs such as absolutely destroying Decisive Strike and making tunneling a super viable option has allowed even the non Blight/Nurse/Spirit killers to pretty reliably 4k by tunneling the first survivor out with 4 slowdown perks.

Don't get me wrong, Dead Hard absolutely NEEDED to be removed from the game, but it was such an integral part of the system for such a long time that every balancing decision in the past was amplified ten times because the game basically went from 3 health states per survivor to 2. That change alone should have brought with it a complete rebalancing of maps and killer powers.

But no, we just need to make sure that Killers have a 90%+ killrate.

Of course all the toxic survivors that bullied killers who tried to play nice didn't exactly help either.

  • It's really funny to see when a content creator's preferential matchmaking lets a good team slip in and everyone can see the reality of balancing in DBD.

  • Yeah, lets nerf the perk that highlights the atrociously bad map design.

    Instead of fixing the maps.

    Good idea. Here's a cookie.

dbd dont leak your ip, standard steam settings do.

edit: also a ip adress is not private information

    the steam settings:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9XM9PI5UH4HN/grafik.png

That "solution" has been debunked for almost an entire year.

DBD still has code from 2019 that leaks all participants in the lobby their IP addresses and BHVR has adamantly refused to fix it. Either because they literally don't know how to do it, or because the resources that they would have to pour into it wouldn't be worth it. Now that big name streamers have their own little matchmaking where they can't go up against hackers, there's zero pressure on BHVR to fix the cheating problem in the game which is at an all time high.

You can have that setting toggled, I still got DDOSed 6 times in the last 12 months, doesn't do much.

  • Because the people in charge falsely believe that depipping will make players artificially play more, when it truth, I often don't que up for a match when I'm one or two pips away from the next grade, because it's just too stressful or I want to switch to a different killer.

Feeling like playing a game of Trapper? Only one pip away from Iri 2, better bring out Spirit with mother daughter ring!

If the devs want people to play more matches and by extension spend more money on the game, just give repeatable challenges. Killing 10 survivors gives you 50k+ bloodpoints or something.

But hey, common sense ain't welcome in the fog.

  • No.

The developers have already abandoned any semblance of balancing this game. If you don't allow the chill Pigs to dodge the sweat lords, you'll just have more AFK killers and then we all lose.

    Matchmaking doesn't work.

Not because of lobby dodging, or playerbase. It's a laughably bad algorithm that would get you an F during your first year of college in software development because it takes nothing into consideration but kills/escapes and even then the matchmaking net has been widened so much that even with zero lobby dodging, you'll have people that just installed the game versing Nurse mains that have not lost a match in 10.000 games.

  • You literally don't.

If you want to win in DBD as Killer, sink the hours into Nurse and Blight. Everything else is a coin toss whether or not you get a team of potatoes or a seal team six that will laugh at M1 killers in teabags.

  • Imagine complaining because you won. Man Killer mains are something else.

  • A mixture of Stockholm Syndrome and Sunk And Cost Fallacy.

I have poured so much money and time into this game that despite the fact I haven't enjoyed it for almost a year now, I'm still playing multiple matches a day/week. If someone gave me back all the money I've spent on this game and removed it from my Steam account, I would never touch it again.

  • What's new?

BVHR has made it perfectly clear that they don't give a flying fog about their SoloQ playerbase. Take it or leave.

  • A part of me just wants to say Skull Merchant, but in all honesty, I barely go up against once per week, go next deals with her just fine. Now Blight and Wesker on the other hand...if I never saw those two killers ever again in any game of mine, I'd be happy. Yes, I'd take more Spirits and Nurses gladly.

  • I prefer playing some of the killers without addons because I'm not that good with them and I don't want those to carry to me to a point where if I don't bring them every match I get clapped harder than a SoloQ player against a Skull Merchant.

  • At this point in time Skull Merchant.

If she ever gets fixed, deleted, Blight.

  • I mean EVENTUALLY you'll get an AFK killer. Probably one of those leave for last, tack it on and wait for it to magically be completed. On some maps like Gideon or Midwhich you might not even need to throw the entire game.

  • I really don't know how you can take them seriously with their track record. The sad thing is that they are trying. But this is the best BHVR can do.

  • There is no matchmaking, not really. People have looked into it behind the scenes and BHVR tweaked the system so much that if you start a brand new account, you get the same teammates and opponents as the people with 100+ win streaks. There's one giant pool everyone gets drawn from.

  • Brutal Strength.

Since I prefer playing M1 killers, 9 out of 10 maps feel like nothing more than pallet kicking simulator 2016.

    Kindred.

Anyone that claims SoloQ was improved with the HUD has no idea what they are talking about. For SoloQ, this perk is nothing short of mandatory.

  • It feels like she is going to be even more miserable to play against in SoloQ, and about as useless against a SWF. Meh.

  • Matchmaking can be a total bust periodically.

I've had days where my SoloQ escape rate was persistently under 10% and then I escape 70% of my matches for a few days.

Killer is the same too, a period where I get the absolute craziest juicers with gen focused attitude and then I 12 hook with 4 gens remaining.

I wouldn't look too deep into it. It's just SBMM things.

  • It depends on the circumstances, but I usually try to help them out.

I still to this day let every David with No Mither go because hell no to that challenge/adept.

I remember the very first time it happened too. I was playing Trapper on Yamaoka Estate and got absolutely juiced by a Claudette, that accidentally brought us to the death hook No Mither David. I ignored him and he gave me his toolbox at the exit gates, it seemed like he was really happy so it was a nice experience.

  • Due to dwindling playerbase and the need for faster que times, SBMM has been watered down so much that nowadays the players that just installed the game can be put into the same match as the 10k hour Nurse main that hasn't lost a game since 2019.

  • Yes and Blight and Nurse and Spirit are broken at the top levels. What's new again?

  • Been like this after the Knight was released I think. Killers with no speed related perks catching up between loops after breaking a pallet with no brutal strength and hitting you. Meanwhile you can mindgame the pallet to zone survivors away from the nearest loop, break it with brutal and they still have so much time they can run around once or twice before they drop the next pallet. VERY noticeable.

  • It's not malicious if that's what you are thinking.

The devs simply don't think things through, so they don't accurately measure what is completely broken in a SWF while simply beneficial in SoloQ.
