Absolutely not.
And it's hilarious to me to see that all those content creators who spent the last years on their high horse calling us bad at the game for not being able to easily 4k against a killsquad on Garden of Pain with no slowdown perks on Pig/Legion/Wraith etc are now facing competent survivor teams.
So tell me sunshine, who were these people playing against when they weren't playing against you hm? Because these people didn't just spawn from the Fog out of nowhere. If you and your 10k hour on C-D tier killers need to sweat hard to have a chance at winning then imagine the regular Joes who don't have that amount of experience under your belt and were constantly getting these folks since we don't have preferential matchmaking to make the game look good to our audience.
Glad the hypocrisy is now dragged into the light and I pray that BHVR enables strict matchmaking so the high MMR monsters stop sealclubbing casual soloq gamers.
I never understood BHVR's insistence on not making every game sweaty for the top 1%. If you are on a 100+ killstreak with Blight and Nurse, you should be strictly banned from going up against SoloQ. I'd much rather a few good players have long que times than hundreds of people feeling miserable match after match because they never even stood a chance at winning.

Scott "I prefer playing against less skilled opponents for a relaxing and easy games" Jund
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccYLse6kWnIReminds me why I stopped watching DBD content creators.
But yeah, the panic is real, high skilled players realized that there are high skilled survivors in pub matches. Poor preferential matchmaking spoiled folks.
Doesn't change anything, SBMM is still complete and utter garbage at putting similarly skilled people against one another.

Oni.
Even if someone runs him for five gens, he'll get his rampage and slug the entire team when nobody has unbreakable. I swear I have a better escape record against Nurses and Blights than Onis.
-
I actually bought it in the Shrine a few months ago, thinking that I would make some niche build around it, but I honestly can't seem to find a good way to make it work.
If I avoid being the obsession, I'm missing out, but if I'm the obsession, guess who the Nurse will tunnel when she loads into the match?
-
I've also seen less Bubbas lately. Did they fix the camera bug with him? I couldn't play him a couple of weeks ago, it was so off putting.
-
Man, it's going to be so fun playing against yet another no counter killer!
Are you all excited? I know you are!
Obviously you won't be playing survivor, but I can't possibly imagine why only one side would be happy!
-
1) A lot of killers are running STBFL, which results in them catching up faster because the weapon cleaning animation finishes a lot quicker.
2) A lot of killers are using "subtle" speed hacks to be in constant Bloodlust 1-2, that they don't lose even after pallet breaking, hitting etc.
-
Okay, I can actually confirm with a 95% degree of certainty that such a statement cannot possibly be true.
Why? Because I've actually been keeping tabs!
During the Halloween event, I played 117 Survivor matches. Out of those, I escaped 4 times, twice with the aid of hatch and twice through the exit gates. That means, that over the course of about two weeks, I've lost 113 trials which is a 96.6% loss rate. Why am I making a joke out of myself? Because besides from the whole pointing at Beatricks and saying "git gud noob" there is the undeniable fact that my MMR should have plummeted to the ground.
What do we know of the hockey based MM? For one, that once you reach 1600 MMR, you CANNOT go below it, to avoid smurfing (oh the irony, but we will get to that). Now, I've previously played in the same lobbies as: Otzdarva (once as a fellow survivor), Hens (twice, once against his Demo and once as a fellow survivor), Knightlight (twice as a fellow survivor), Tru3 (faced him as a killer) and those are just the names I recognize. This makes me absolutely certain that I have passed the 1600 magical MMR threshold, so now I'm stuck with the big boys/girls/others.
We also know that 1800 MMR is the soft cap, above that, it is treated in the same manner as exactly 1800 points. There is also a 200 point matchmaking tolerance threshold, so the moment you reach 1600, you can go up against Supalf, Lilith Omen, etc, people who have maxed out their MMR even before that was a thing.
Yesterday, I had the misfortune of playing against a TTV Blight, whose 194th win in a row included my lobby. Now with 194 consecutive wins, I'm very hard pressed to believe that he was anything underneath 1800. I wouldn't be surprised if he was well above that when he started his win streak.
So, MMR is working in the same way as it has been. 1800+ high MMR monsters that could potentially win against tourney teams like eternal are sealclubbing 1600~ish little potatoes like myself.
And while I'm not keeping score now after the event, I can tell you that around 8 out of 10 games is a very easy 4k for the Killer because both me and my teammates go down relatively quickly since most Killers we face are high prestige and also high skill Nurses, Blights, Weskers, Spirits etc. Then we get one or two Killers who struggle for a 1-2k if they can even get it and we are back to BHVR endorsed smurffest.
Why are Otz and Scott saying this? I saw that Otz had a rough time with Hillbilly on Haddonfield when he couldn't get a single curve or his Dredge game where he got destroyed after making a bunch of mistakes, but none of those teams were even close to some of the killsquads I've seen on Killer, 4xP100 with 4 BNPs and Garden of Pain offering, no weak links, all running the best perks and utilizing checkspots with great expertise in predicting mindgames.* Are we really at a point where if a content creator has a bad day against a team that isn't a complete potato mixture something must be wrong?
I haven't been watching content creators, so I might be missing vital details here and I would appreciate any links. But the part about tighter matchmaking? Blatantly untrue.
*= And after playing against a team that feels like Eternal, my next match the first survivor will give up on first hook because I ran Lethal and found them leading to a braindead 4k.
-
Realistically speaking, nothing. BHVR isn't going to solve the cheating issue, they aren't going to fix their broken maps and killers, nor will they make a proper matchmaking system so that games stop being completely one sided dominations.
They should probably just embrace the chaos, remove SBMM and create random based matchmaking so at least the occasional match can be fun.
-
They are barely (more like not at all) able to keep up with the current workload as is. It's simply impossible for them to make sweeping changes.
-
If the Killer literally doesn't leave the 3 gen from the first second of the trial I get crows in the farthest locker and play another game.
-
Nobody is reviewing anything. If you send in video evidence of a streamer using hacks ON STREAM, they won't even ban the person. I doubt anyone even read a support ticket in the past year.
And while I don't doubt that a lot of the time claims of cheaters are just salt, it's an undeniable fact that the game is overrun by genuine cheaters. AFAIK the EGS exploit still exists for people with nefarious purposes so even if there is some sort of automated banning system that locks you out after 500 reports in 10 days or something, you can be back in less than a couple of hours without buying an account.
I LOVE that this community spends ten times more effort gaslighting others than addressing real issues.
-
Nurse/Blight: Agreed, these two are the most broken thing currently in the game, far more problematic than MFT. If there are like only 8 survivors in the entire world that can win against a killer who reached a certain skill ceiling, then it really should be clear they need a huge nerf.
Bubba: A REALLY good Bubba can be super oppressive in chase with Bamboozle, but his 4vs1 isn't strong enough to warrant a real nerf. He is in a pretty good spot right now, especially with the new map designs in the Clutter Ahoy! philosophy BHVR has embraced.
Adrenaline: It's one of those perks that can be devastating on SFWs, especially if it's all 4, but it's almost completely worthless in SoloQ and it's a perk banked for endgame. I would class it as strong, but not quite problematic.
Windows: The perk is fine, maps aren't.
HUD: Have you even played SoloQ in the last couple of months? If anything Kindred basekit should be added ON TOP of the HUD staying. Killer aura and all that. SoloQ has never been so miserable to play and I've been stuck in it for years now.
-
It's definitely one of those super fun to use, but super unfun to be on the receiving end of kind of perks. I won't complain if they nerf it, despite how many saves I'm getting thanks to it.
-
I would even grant him the no recoil in addition to 115%. None of the other buffs of course, we don't want him to be the next DC merchant.
-
Grade based MM was better than hockey based MM.
The reason why people don't agree with this is that grade had bright, shiny badges next to your name that was interpreted as your skill level and not how much you have played in recent months. Nowadays rainbow matchmaking is just as bad if not significantly worse than before, but with no bright, shiny grades next to people's name to point at, folks just assume everyone is where they are and [current excuse why hockey based MM is the worst in online gaming history] is blamed for all the imbalanced matches.
If the devs tweaked the previous MM to weed out the Top% monsters that go on 500-1000 winstreaks and pit them against the best survivor 4 stacks, we could actually be having fun in this game.
-
Tunneling is not necessarily considered harassment.
If the same Killer is injecting himself into your lobbies and constantly targeting you that can be technically considered harassment. Unfortunately, unless you are a big name streamer with a steady follower base, BHVR won't do anything to protect you even if you reach out to them.
My best tip is to find a SWF to play with, there are a lot of survivors out there who love being chased and tunneled so you can get more chill games.
-
Unfortunately SM is still a Go Next killer which is very concerning with the Trickster overbuff looming over the horizon.
-
I still remember the match I played on the Game as Yui. I ended up repairing 4.5 generators completely Solo with nobody else touching it. The other 0.5? A Claudette joined me for the last leg of the journey. I literally worked on all five generators while they went around having fun with the Killer I assume because I didn't see gen progress on the HUD that game from them. I'm amazed to this day we actually got out.
-
"I really dislike people playing in a scummy way!"
"I really dislike people calling me out for playing in a scummy way, please call me nice names while I play super scummy"
Eat it or have it, but decide one way for fog's sake. People complain about survivor entitlement, but killers also something else.
-
I always prioritize lower prestige survivors whenever I can, on the basis that hopefully they have less hours and by extension less experience. I play a lot of M1 killers in nice, non-tunneling ways, so a good team can absolutely demolish me. Meanwhile all those high level Blight and Nurse players who could only be offered a challenging game by Oracle or Misery will do it as ego stroking. "Man I'm so awesome for playing the most broken things in the game and completely demolishing this P100 survivor who can only be a P100 because they are super good at the game and not because they poured all the BPs I reserve for my completely fair and balanced addons. I finally feel something in that shriveled husk of an organ people call heart."
-
Remember when last year's meta shake-up they said they wanted to make more playstyles viable instead of tunneling out the first survivor at five gens and then they nerfed DS into the ground and reworked OTR to be the most useless "anti-tunnel" perk this game has ever seen? Pretty good job so far!
-
Never.
The problem you see, is that BHVR has realized that they don't need to ACTUALLY balance their game as long as they can create a matchmaking that gives them an "ideal" killrate statistically speaking.
SoloQ's 90%+ killrate evens out the SWF 90% escape rate and there is enough wiggle room with top 1% killers are lower MMR brackets that they get a 40% escape rate for survivor in the grand scheme of things. They don't give a fog that for the individual it might be because they win/lose 9 out of 10 matches.
-
It says so, so much about BHVR that after they nailed the perk to be the most healthy one in the game, they decided to nuke it into oblivion.
Imagine if they gutted all of Blight's addons and then 6 months later they changed his power so that you get one rush token for every hookstate.
-
The last time I was given hatch was in like 2020 or 2021, can't even remember it's been so long.
I was allowed to leave through the exit gate twice this year.
As a Killer if someone DCs, gives up early and the team wasn't a toxic SWF I'll let the last person leave. If I'm not trying to double pip, I'll also let the last person go if they give me their item. No taksie-backsies though.
-
In an ideal world? Yes, yes he does, just like every other killer that has no counterplay to it, Nurse, Blight, Spirit etc.
In an ideal world all S and A tier killers would be brought down to the level of B tier killers and all killers below that tier would be buffed so that every killer has roughly the same performance.
And then the maps would be standardized so that there are no Midwhich, Garden of Pain levels of brokenness.
After that all you need is buffing SoloQ since you no longer need it to artificially inflate killrates.
But this isn't the ideal world and this is BHVR we are talking about. They are going to keep releasing broken killers, broken maps and broken perks until the game finally, one day draws its last breath.
-
Unfortunately in SoloQ it's pretty much a required perk. The first person that gets spotted gets tunneled out of the match, so you can't risk Lethal Pursuer catching you.
But I understand how frustrating it is when someone is hiding too much.
-
No. I'm not very well off financially, so I have to be very selective as to what I buy. Anything that you can get for in game money, I'll grind for it. Auric Cells are an absolute last resort if I really love the character.
-
It's very finicky, took me 3 matches to get it.
You throw the pebble at an angle to where you are looking (goes slightly right, almost 45 degrees) and it lands after making some distance, so you have to line up your shot somewhat precisely, very annoying.
-
You would have a point if people didn't correctly predict the effect of changes to a far greater accuracy than the devs.
Boil Over buff? Everyone knew what was going to happen. Devs had to nerf instead of the usual just wait it out spiel. Same with COH, Eruption meta etc.
The suggested healing speed nerf for other survivors is basically the only thing that BHVR walked back on after community pressure. And maybe that horrible last man standing idea that was a complete dumpster fire on the PTB so much so that even BHVR didn't dare to release it.
Trickster is going to be an absolute nightmare to play against and you are going to see a huge increase in DC-ing against him because apparently removing counterplay is the only way BHVR can balance the game instead of finally overhauling all the maps and killer strengths.
Of course by the time this all happens everyone will have moved on to the next [current point of discussion] and nobody will care that we told you so. I swear to god if the devs released a perk called Rebirth that allowed every survivor to come back to life after being sacrificed with 0 hook states some people would just mindlessly shout: JuSt WaIt aNd SeE!
Oh well, see you in a few weeks I guess.
-
Revert the stun duration nerf of DS. Also remove the skill check, it serves absolutely zero purpose.
-
I actually started doing something very similar on Demo a couple of months ago, but stopped after getting horribly skewed games of either one measly kill or absolutely steamrolling the opposition. Will definitely keep an eye on this thread!
-
An incredibly easy W for BHVR since it doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever, but I admit, I am also looking forward to them!
-
The DH nerf literally transformed the game removing a third healthstate and made killrates absolutely skyrocket. MTF was the [most recent thing] but its impact can't even begin to be compared to old DH.
-
I've never been facecamped since. Take that for what you want.
-
And once again BHVR proves us right when we meme about the devs not understanding their own game.
The player cards are nice I guess.
-
Hoping she is bad.
That's literally it.
-
I don't think so. There are a LOT of killers nowadays and BHVR doesn't really do much about their old content. Look how long it took to "buff" trapper.
-
BHVR literally has two switches.
One makes a perk/item/killer/addon OP, the other nerfs it into the ground so that it is useless. Borgo just happened to bounce quickly between Survivor>Killer>Survivor sided.
-
You have to understand that looping as we call it today wasn't originally an intended mechanic. It just organically evolved as people optimized the gameplay. Compared to old DBD, there are significantly less pallets since good survivors don't need that many resources to win against non Nurse/Blights. Loops are also adjusted, random stuff sticking out makes it more difficult to do so that M1 killers are thrown a bone to have a chance of catching survivors.
-
Huh, so it is true. People WILL complain about any perk no matter how niche or useless they are.
NERF PREDATOR!
-
So that's why my P100 Meg started getting tunneled and hit on hook for seemingly no reason! Didn't even notice they were back. It was good while it lasted.
@totallynotamegmain said:
Why is seeing them a bad thing?
A lot of killers would leave a lobby if they saw survivors with high prestige numbers which would increase waiting time. People will also tell you that it's the reason why SBMM sucks, but backlog isn't the issue. It's hockey based matchmaking.
Also, sometimes if you are playing a high prestige survivor, the killer will focus on you disproportionately.
-
SHHH!
For the love of Fog we can play an entire day without going up against ten of the same killer. It's okay if you don't see seven Weskers in a row, you and we all are going to live. It's all going to be fine. Look at all that grass outside!
-
"Subtle" speed cheaters have been gaining momentum since around the time Knight has been released. But yes, these past couple of weeks it has been getting even worse.
Hell, some cheaters managed to get through the content creator preferential matchmaking and got to Otz and at least one other content creator who escapes my memory for the time being.
-
I literally can't loop for 5 seconds as David to save my life. Felix and Vittorio? Perfectly acceptable performance. I have no idea why.
-
The REAL solution would be to fix all the horrendously bad map design so that every map is about the same to win both for killer and survivor. Maps should be nothing more than cosmetical in nature. There's an argument to be made for the need of indoor map for stealth killers, but map balance is significantly more important than offerings.
-
I think it's been like a week or two since the last time I saw one thankfully.
-
Bottom of the barrel garbage.
It barely gives you extra BP, there's almost no incentive to participate if you are playing as the Killer and even as Survivor you are just wasting precious seconds while the Blight/Nurse main is sweating his balls off to tunnel out the first survivor before the first gen is repaired so that they can use their precious little mori to shave off even more time. Unlockable cosmetics are uninspired meh category filler.
The fact that it coincides with the biggest hacker infestation the game has ever seen doesn't help, but technically that's not the event's fault, but the devs. Still, it ruins what little fun you can have.
A crying shame really, the whole void pocket dimension was a fun idea, but unfortunately BHVR is too scared to take chances and shake up the game besides gen repair +10 seconds.
-
I made the mistake of wanting to play a couple of games this morning.
Trial #1: A survivor's sacrifice progress never started ticking down. There were no perks in the lobby that do that.
Trial #2: Lithe into Dead Hard. It was DH because I saw the animation play when I swung.
Trial #3: A survivor disabled my ability to gain bloodlust. I made sure to stay in chase and not do anything that would break it. Even after a solid minute I was still not getting bloodlust 1 (I didn't have the Xeno perk).
That's it then. I'm removing all perks and 8 hooking for the next 20-30 games and see what lower MMR is like when it comes to cheaters. It literally can't get any worse than this.
-
Feng: Hooked
Nea: Sacrificed
Ace: Slugged
Felix: Chasing him around a loop
Other side of the map: gen pops.
Man, if only I was more skilled at the video game.
