Am I glad I didn't buy the Rift Pass, might just not complete this one if the incentives are gone for weeks.
-
Hah, serves them right.

I wish Bhvr would give us more info about the communication system they were talking about before. We haven’t heard anything about it in ages and I hope they haven’t scrapped it.
One of the devs (I think Peanits, but I could be mistaken) has stated that the system you are talking about is currently not part of this year's roadmap. This basically means that for the next 12-14 months, that change isn't coming for certain. After that, maybe.

+ DH nerf
+ Basekit killer buff
-Gen time increase
-Unhealthy perks buffed (Thana, Knock-Out)
-Tunneling buffed
-Camping buffed
-SoloQ nerfed
-Noed "nerfed" but not actually
-
Remember when they said that if BT became basekit, Killers would be less likely to tunnel?
Remember when they said that SWFs escape 15% more often than SoloQ needs some sort of buff/QoL change?
-
Devs confirmed no SoloQ buff for the next 12 months.
Anyone here likes board games?
-
Can't wait to see your video evidence of breaking 4k world record! Be sure to link it in this very thread!
-
If nothing else, this update has shown that Killer mains were not interested in having balanced matches, but easy matches. The shoe is on the other foot now, lets see how long that can last.
-
Just give it a hundred years of playtest before making a rash judgement!
-
It's perfect.
In that it's the perfect mistake in design due to complexity. See, the problem is that the BHVR devs only think in short, single lines, but not interactions between various elements, hence why when they buffed Boil Over it got abused to hell and back, they only considered a single aspect and not how it fits into the game.
Now OTR is a great example of a perk that is designed to help avoid being tunneled, only to be completely useless when tunneled and not when the killer doesn't tunnel you. If the killer is tunneling you, he'll just hit you during basekit BT, catch up and hook you again, the perk does literally nothing. If the killer doesn't tunnel, you can get healed by a friend and then get effectively three health states which can come in handy if say the Killer is carrying a downed survivor.
Should have made DS basekit, activate both times after unhooking without needing a skillcheck, deactivate after being healed and when the exit gates are powered. But no, killer rates are "a bit low" so just give everyone free kills.
-
Just play killer lol. Something something DH is bad.
-
It doesn't.
And no, I'm not just memeing around. It literally doesn't work. At all. The whole concept of kill/escape=skill is laughable and that doesn't even take into consideration that maps, killers, items/addons and perks are NOT part of the calculation. Even if you made sure that every single game was between people of exactly the same SBMM rating, you still would have wildly different results and one sided stomps.
People do all sorts of mental gymnastics to try and justify it, oh you are just bad, oh it's just the backlog, oh it's better than the emblem system at least, oh it's just a fluke, but the bottom line is this:
SBMM.
Doesn't.
Work.

I've got a lot of free time now that I don't play survivor. Can try out other games and financially support devs who care about their playerbase.
As Killer, it is immensely satisfying going up against an ex bully squad that desperately needs E to get them out of the messes they get themselves into.
-
I swear to the Entity that if they removed Dead Hard from the game completely, Killers would be justifying any sort of opinion or belief by citing Dead Hard even three years from now.
DH nerf was a fantastic addition to the game, if the patch was only about just that, there wouldn't be such a massive uproar. I'm sure entitled Survivors would make a fuss because they can't just press E to ctrl+z a mistake, but this is so much more than that.
The general buffs have made Killers that were already so oppressive that they could stomp comp teams are now even stronger and get fed very inexperienced survivors still. The developers made the mistake of ignoring the strong killers when applying the basekit changes.
Camping and tunneling are now easier than ever before and even more rewarding. If you can get a down fast enough, Bubba is basically guaranteed to 3k.
SoloQ has been utterly gutted by multiple perks that are disproportionately strong against SoloQ and weak against SWFs have been buffed. The developers promised us a basekit change where we would see next to the portrait what our SoloQ teammates are doing. Peanits confirmed not too long ago that such changes are actually not coming for at least 12 MONTHS. Mind you, we didn't even get Kindred basekit, because apparently it would be too OP even without the killer aura reveal. Meanwhile SWFs can let each other know which generators are being worked on, who is going for the save, who is going for a chase, who has what persk, which pallets are down/destroyed etc. It's absolutely ridiculous. Especially after the devs themselves have admitted that there is a +15% of a survivor escaping if they are in a SWF. And the solution is to nerf SoloQ...like...what are they thinking?
And yes. Matchmaking is still just as garbage as it has been every single day, since SBMM was introduced. It addressed nothing that was wrong with the emblem system and in some cases it performs even worse.
I love playing weaker Killers now, but I'm done with SoloQ until they buff it somehow.
-
My SoloQ meta build: Left Behind+Wake Up+Lithe+Unbreakable
-
38 Games in SoloQ
31 4k at 2 or 3 gens done
6 in which a Survivor escaped via the Hatch
1 game against a Clown, he got one health state before the exit gates were opened.
I'm only playing Killer from now on until they introduce the bot gamemode. Hope Killer mains will enjoy the 4 stack SWFS with toolboxes.
-
Okay, let's talk about balance.
I'm perfectly happy that DH was nerfed into the ground, it was an incredibly unhealthy and frustrating part of the game. I'm happy that weaker killers got a general buff that made them feel a little better to play and reduced the necessity of meta perks in every slot.
I'm not happy that camping has been made easier and stronger. I'm not happy that tunneling has been made easier and stronger. I'm not happy that slugging has become easier and stronger (Knock Out absolutely, 100% didn't need a buff even for Twins that were hurt by the COH and UB meta). I'm not happy that the fundamental flaws of the game, ie: killer strength discrepancies and map strength discrepancies, SWF and SoloQ strength discrepancies have not been addressed whatsoever.
If anything, the BHVR devs said: "######### SoloQ players, what have they ever done for us?" They wouldn't even throw us a bone in the form a basekit Kindred (remove Killer aura reading if you must, even though it would be in absolutely no way overpowered, especially compared to what Killers can bring).
And worst of all? SWFs can still absolutely wreck weaker Killers just like before. Sure, Nurse and Blight are now pretty much unable to lose a game if they have reached a certain skill level, but everyone else can be rather easily genrushed. And camping/tunneling are significantly harder and less rewarding against 4 people that are on voice coms with broken toolboxes.
I'd love for this game to be balanced, to have somewhere around a 50% win ratio for all players, Killers, SWFs and SoloQs. But the devs have made it clear that they have no intention of making the game fun for everyone. So yeah, I'll complain. I'll keep complaining.
-
Imagine if they buffed Dead Hard and I made a thread like this lol.
-
It's really not. What's happening now is a lot of decent, but not great players are getting stomped into the ground, making them lose MMR that will eventually lead to the lower ranks and by extensions newer people, having lobbies that overfill with significantly more experienced survivors, so less seasoned Killers are now going to get bullied more. And BHVR has shown time and time again that they have no interest in balancing the game at its core, rather than just applying bandaid solutions that help in some areas and highly damage others.
-
I honestly feel like it's in a pretty good spot right now. Sure, people are always DCing, but you build up a long penalty pretty quickly. I wish they disabled it for some game breaking bug though, when DC penalty is disabled the game is actually fun.
-
I refuse to play Demo without rat liver and Barb's glasses.
-
The thing that most people fail to understand is that Corrupt's power doesn't lie in the fact that it blocks generators for a longish amount of time. It ensures that survivors don't hop on a gen immediately and greatly increases the chance of the killer running into a survivor. Even an omega blink nurse can get value out of it, no matter how quickly she gets the down. By that time, the survivors have wasted time. I'm still going to run it every single time I'm going sweat mode.
-
Sabo squads are the most fun you can ask for as Killer.
-
Go next: Nurse, Blight, Oni, Pinhead, Spirit
It's Christmas: Bubba, Pig.
-
No, it's still equip to win. I would have loved to trade the complete removal of DH for a complete removal of NOED but since SWFs bully killers, I guess BHVR just decided to ruin SoloQ even more. Pretty good job so far!
-
Pretty much nothing. If you don't have slowdown perk and you aren't exerting a ton of pressure, they will just get done, unless you get really lucky and every single survivor is busy doing tome challenges.
-
She is very good at tunneling, I'm definitely expecting an uptick.
-
I'm sure someone is going to drop the steam chart eventually, but of course people will just dismiss any factual evidence as fear mongering.
-
It's not the reset. People have been complaining about even worse than usual matchmaking for quite a few days before rank reset. And there's something definitely going on with the matchmaking, I'm on the other end of the scale and I haven't survived this many games since SBMM was introduced.
-
Be me. Play Nurse. RCPD, Cowshed, Cowshed, RCPD, log off.
-
Should have made BBQ and WGLF stacks basekit. So simple, so perfect. So of course not.
-
I personally haven't seen or done less of it.
-
I think what people are missing is that the devs didn't want to REMOVE the grind, since grinding is an artificial time sink, something all for profit game companies want to encourage as much as the playerbase is willing to put up in hopes of gaining more sales. They simply made it somewhat more palatable since it was getting way out of hand.
-
Should have made BT and DS basekit (with the latter removing the skill check and making it activate twice, still deactivating in endgame, conspicuous actions and when fully healed) so that tunneling someone out is far more of a time waster than a gain. But I guess the devs still want easy mode for killers since it's supposed to be the power role and maps, perks and items are busted.
-
I would say that most of the time they shouldn't. After all, they should offer some sort of help to the players. However, I can see certain abilities being a little too overpowered if they don't have some sort of drawback to them.
-
I mean they are already bad. In the timeframe where I used to get matches instantly, now I have to wait five minutes. And once they release the patch and neuter SoloQ, it should be even more horrible. I guess we can wait for the bots gamemode and have ourselves a little break.
-
I'm sure you have never complained about 4 DHs and BNP in a lobby before.
-
Rampant hacking, DDOS attacks, spaghetti code that leads to game crashes for no reason. Nah, we don't need to punish innocent people even harder.
-
Fully expect 10+ minutes with the flood of SoloQ gamers just having enough with the 25th eruption nurse/blight.
-
I mean they have actually buffed her. It looks like the devs are perfectly happy to have two killers that you can't lose with if you get to a point in terms of skill.
-
Can't have enough popcorn ready to watch Killer mains scramble and find new excuses as to why they are losing (not a skill issue of course).
-
Just make the old BBQ/WGLF stacks basekit, nobody will die from extra BP.
-
I don't see how a really good Nurse or Blight player could possibly lose a game now.
-
Just make BP bonus stack basekit. I don't understand why it's so hard for them to understand.
-
It still lead to a situation the killer couldn't counter at pallets. If you swing, you give them a boost, if you don't, you eat a pallet to the face. They should have added an animation cooldown afterwards, so that if you DH but the killer doesn't hit you, you can't interact with objects for 1 second.
-
You can post your 100 wins in a row vid any moment now.
-
It would be pretty hard not to be, unless you play Killer exclusively. Sure, killing DH is going to be a very refreshing thing, but in the meantime the developers have managed to kill soloq and I'm not being a dramaqueen about it, I literally mean that 9 out of 10 soloq lobbies will result in 3-4ks and you'll only escape if you happen to get a team with no weak links and a killer that's significantly underneath all of your skill levels.
I understand that the stacking endurance could lead to some pretty frustrating moments, but if you actually look at those videos, you can see that multiple people are on death hook and most of the time not even a single gen was done. It was way overblown of a "problem". And now what do we get? Endurance doesn't stack. This, plus OTR deactivating after end game means that
1) There's literally no point in staying after endgame. If somebody is hooked, they are dead. Period. (The only exception is if the Killer literally hooked them by an open gate and you have BT, unless the devs decide that BT should deactive after endgame because at this point why not just give the killer a sacrifice all four survivors button? They would still cry about DH or something)
2) Killers are now heavily incentivized to tunnel. If somebody is unhooked, you will want to slap them into deep wound so that they can't make use of their 80 second endurance thanks to OTR. And in that case, you are already so close to them you might as well just toss them back onto the hook, DS is dead after all.
Eruption and NOED are going to carry killers so insanely hard I don't expect to play a single game without seeing them.
Instead of fixing the balance issues, BHVR just decided to turn the game into a friends only game. Might as well remove the option to SoloQ.
-
I actually have improved matchmaking for the past few days, either they did something to the algorithm or the huge drop post event somehow made this already completely worthless system even more thrash. Somehow.
-
Pro Billies would be too oppressive against anything but that sweatiest no weak link 4mens. Like Nurses and Blights.
-
If you can 3 gen with Agitation near the basement, it's actually perfectly doable normally. I got it on Lery with Nemesis. You need a weak team and for the last person not to get hatch, but there are more challenging ones out there.
