Not gonna lie, it would be pretty funny. Still, the devs aren't scrambling scared #### so the numbers might not be that bad. Then again, this is BHVR...
-
I'm not joking when I say DBD is the best (and by that I mean worst) Stockholm Syndrome Simulator ever. I should have ditched this game back when SBMM was introduced but here I am, still playing at least Killer now with SoloQ dead and buried. If you can get out do it now.

MaH iNvIsIbLe 1 bIlLiOn CoNsOlE PlAyErS
What about killer que times being almost as long as PTB ones even durink peak hours?
JUST LET THE DUST SETTLE I REFUSE TO ACCEPT REALITY
Cool.
-
Very. It was the best exhaustion perk by a mile without a doubt. Honestly, I would be very interested in observing an alternate timeline where they simply removed DH and didn't touch perks and Killer basekit. That might have actually been all that was necessary to improve the quality of Killer gameplay without destroying SoloQ. It certainly would have been a better option from a balancing point of view. Always change one variable instead of the entire formula if you are trying to fine tune stuff.
-
I've been playing since late 2020, 60% survivor 40% killer. As killer, I love the changes and enjoy playing various builds, sometimes without even any slowdown.
As a survivor, due to certain circumstances only SoloQ is available to me and that's beyond horrendous, I've stopped playing. The DS nerf was a ridiculously bad idea, the fact that OTR doesn't stack with BT means that it is a completely useless anti-tunnel perk, although it's pretty good if SWFs communicate to take hits. Then there's the fact that BBQ no longer gives stacks and BP, so tunneling is easier, more efficient and even less discouraged, absolute hellhole. On top of that, SBMM is the same quality as before, so I get potato teammates and cracked nurses/blights or occasionally a baby killer that we all run around for the five gens.
The devs need to fix the tunneling/camping buff, implement SoloQ buffs and we'll be in a decentish position. I know that maps and matchmaking will never be fixed, so I'll settle with the stuff that is realistic to change.
-
Chases have become significantly shorter with the DH nerf and the killer basekit buffs. If I'm on a gen, get chased then hooked and see that the rest of my team are doing totems, opening chests or crouching in the far side of the corner without advancing the game at all, I can tell that it is a lost cause. SoloQ does not have the luxury or messing around, you are either cranking out gens or get 12 hooked at 4-3 gens remaining. This in turn will make players mentally fatigued and they'll give significantly more easily. I know I don't feel like playing the game when it's a blight, nurse, spirit, legion, plague. And funnily enough even Myers. SoloQ potatoes feed his T3 and then he procs it on my back. Not fun.
-
Same here. Going up against cracked Nurses and Blights that have mastered their respective abilities and being paired up with Jake's that urban evade and go down as if they were being chased by a Bubba. Seriously, what is with potato Jakes lately? SoloQ is unplayable at the time so either SWF, wait longer in Killer que than your matches will be, or play something else.
-
Remember how many years it took them to nerf keys? Yeah. Not a good sign.
-
Always has been, always will be. Something something we need a broken killer for the game to be balanced something something.
-
They are probably "monitoring the situation closely, because our fan's satisfaction is the most important thing to us!" Maybe they'll give us a new anti-tunneling perk in 2027.
-
I mean they wanted to shake up the meta and increase the kills on average. You could just introduce a new killer perk that deactivates all your other perk but puts all the survivors into the dying state at the beginning of the trial. EVERYONE would be running that and most games would be even more of a 4k than they already are. Just because you achieve your stated goal, doesn't mean you made the game fun or balanced.
In regards to SoloQ, the devs overnerfed survivors, especially their ability to combat tunneling and camping. These need HUGE buffs without making basic M1 killers useless again.
Also, map balancing, MMR, killer ability/addon strengths are still huge parts of the balancing of this game and these were completely neglected.
This patch honestly should have come in piece meal and they should have monitored the stats to stop when the killrates reach the point where they are satisfied. But no, lets just completely change everything and then untangle this mess in the next five years! Pretty good job so far.
-
Killer is great, having a lot of fun especially with aura reading builds, STBFL focused builds (I have a feeling this will be nerfed), and Sigma Pallet Grindset builds (SF+End+Bamb+BS), although the 10+ minute que times discourage me from playing a lot.
SoloQ is unplayable, so I stopped playing survivor for the time being.
-
Not here. In 30 games only 2 got to all four gens being done.
-
Had someone in a SoloQ lobby ask what the hell the new prestige system was.
-
SoloQ is literally unplayable so you either have to SWF up or look for a different game. Even if the devs decide that kill rates are too high it's going to take them months and or years to do something about it.
-
I expect an announcement along these lines:
"Dear people of the Fog!
Patch 6.1.0 has been out for a little more than a week now and as we had hoped, it galvanized the community quite a lot! Rest assured, that we have monitored both the statistics of our players and the feedback that you have left on the forum, the satisfaction of our players are of the utmost importance to us!
One of the goals that we had in mind with this patch was the reduction of unfun gamestyles such as tunneling, camping and slugging. We are sad to see that these have become significantly more popular since the perks to counter these styles have been nerfed and basekit defenses were added. As such we have decided to implement the following:
1) The survivor with the most hook states will have a big red exclamation mark next to their avatar to show the killer that they should focus on someone else so that everyone can have fun!
2) If at least one survivor is on the hook and the killer has not moved for more than ten seconds, they'll hear a constant rustling of the leaves sound effect designed to remind them that camping is not a very fun playstyle!
The other main goal was to shake up perk usage, but sadly some perks still remain far more favorable to others. We are also changing the following:
1) Borrowed Time deactivates during the endgame, both the basekit and the perk variation of it.
2) Exhaustion perks deactivate during the endgame.
3) Any survivor hooked when the endgame has commenced will be automatically sacrificed to the entity.
4) Any injured survivor when the endgame has commenced will be automatically put into the dying state.
5) Any healthy survivor when the endgame has commenced will become injured and their aura is revealed to the killer.
Solo Que players will be happy to know that we have been brainstorming on the HUD upgrades and they should come in 2026/27, stay tuned for more info!
And to make sure that survivors don't feel like they haven't been given anything, we have decided to nerf the Pig, who will no longer be undetectable when crouching."
-
Enjoy it while it lasts. I decided, against my better judgement, to try and finish the last 3 tomes challenges before I call it quits. Played 34 games, escaped a grand total of 3 times (one against a farming Pinhead and one against a baby Pinhead funnily enough, there was only one single game where one person was sacrificed and everyone else got out, every other game was a 3k or a 4 man out). Games are still as wretched as before. Thana Legions, Startrsuck Nurses sending themselves to Midwich, survivors DCing or giving up hooks, urban evading Jakes while the Killer is a very experienced Blight, etc. Nothing has changed, SoloQ is unplayable.
-
There are a few of us, but going up against one is always a risky lottery situation. Also the most likely Killer to have NOED.
-
Absolutely not. 9 out of 10 games is a 4k at 3-4 gens remaining.
-
If a killer gets a down before the first 3 gens are done you know it's going to be a 4k.
-
BuT DeAd HaRd!
-
I feel the need to distinguish between good and average nurses. If it's a good nurse, then yeah, she'll just 4k in 2-3 minutes. But against an average nurse who you can still counter, it can be pretty fun.
-
I mean if you have a 4 man SWF with a map offering and 4 toolboxes then yeah, it's survivor sided. Anything else? It's a skill issue.
-
I really wish Killer mains stopped being so disingenuous. Yes, SWFs can still absolutely wreck killers that aren't very good and sweaty Nurses and Blights running the most busted and OP addons and perks, but playing killer against SoloQ is literally baby mode. If you can't win after the latest patch, I'm afraid that's a skill issue. Unless you were sent to a horrible map and faced 4 toolboxes.
-
I'm not touching survivor gameplay until bots are enabled.
-
There is also an influx of literal 10 hour players being fed to 2k+ hour killers so that doesn't help much.
-
They need us to play the game more, so they want the grind, but they also want to appear super nice, so they claim they reduce the grind while doing the exact opposite.
-
It happens pretty much every single match, but at least 8 out of 10. Don't get me wrong, the game had some pretty bad days before, but nothing even begins to compare to what's going on now.
-
If the Killer is decent, the SoloQ team is just dead. They went overboard with the nerfs and buffs and didn't differentiate between SWF and SoloQ. A well coordinated SWF can still absolutely demolish anything but the sweatiest Nurses and Blights.
-
My Killer que times are almost as long as if I was on the PTB, pretty crazy.
-
After the update went live, I had to play 38 games to have a single escape which soured my mood quite a bit. Now, with the new tome, I decided to give SoloQ a go with the mentality of trying to complete at least one challenge per game and not focus on winning at all. My god what an absolutely miserable pile of festering manure. SBMM has killed a lot of the enjoyment in this game for me over the last year, but even the worst days can't begin to hold a candle to what is going on now. You need to play 20-30 games to have one where the Killer isn't hardcore camping, tunneling at five gens or your SoloQ teammates don't DC, die on hook against a Thana Legion/Plague. I'll definitely go find another game to play until something is done.
-
People take videogames way too seriously. Just have fun and don't get an aneuryism or write a 1.000 page long dissertation of the ethics of human behavior if someone goes next.
-
It's funny, because I was watching Otzdarva's video against the Nurse on Crotus Prenn where he said they were doing good, despite the fact that people were on death hook, multiple people down and still 3 gen. You thinking that the game is winnable doesn't mean your teammates agree. SoloQ is beyond miserable at this point so people just embrace the Go Next mentality if the odds are not in your favor. It sucks, but until the game is fun to play, this will be present.
-
I'm trying to clean out the new tome, but after three hours of SoloQ I realized something. It's genuinely not entitled crying and overblown exaggerating. SoloQ is literally unplayable. SWF or play another game and support devs that care about their players I guess.
-
Maybe in about six months or so if there is still a playerbase they'll admit that having a 90% killrate against SoloQ might be "a tad bit too much". I wouldn't hold my breath though. It took them years to nerf the hatch/key mechanic and that was probably one of the easiest things to program. They don't care as long as people are buying their cosmetics, they don't have to do anything.
-
I think you are conflating two things.
1) If the survivor didn't escape through the exit gate or the hatch, then they died and that's a kill to the killer
2) Some people just want to deny the opposing team as much as possible, especially when they feel like they have lost for no fault of their own. That's why you have people that will jump into lockers against a tombstone Michael during EGC when the hatch is closed, they want to deny him the satisfaction of the mori.
2 doesn't change the facts though, if the survivor dies by any means, that's a kill for the killer.
-
EU player here. At this time, I usually get a match instantly or 1-2 minutes at the absolute maximum. Stopped queuing after 15 minutes.
-
No, they just made the mistake of changing too many variables at once. Honestly, this patch should have come piecemeal.
Week 1: Nerf DH and monitor performance across the board to see if it's enough and if it is, stop
Week 2: All other perk reworks and monitor performance across the board to see if it's enough and if it is, stop
Week 3: Killer basekit changes and monitor performance across the board to see if it's enough and if it is, stop
Week 4: Gen repair time increase (I feel that this was already way overkill)
-
If the weather gets better and my computer can avoid exploding when I launch the game, I might start doing stat challenges, always love to see stuff like this.
If you are going to do it again, you could make another column for DCs, it would be neat to see how often/rarely people DC from a match that isn't a 3/4k.
-
Pallet Shredder Wraith is so fast at destroying pallets you aren't even allowed to swing at the end of the animation because technically you are still cloaked. I missed two hits because of it, but man does it feel good to have my boy be fun again.
-
If Bubba isn't facecamping, he is probably one of the most exciting killers to be going up against.
I also never mind a Pig. I wanted to say Wraiths as well, but considering just how insanely often they run NOED, I'll take it back.
-
Very well put. Hell, you could even remove the skill check from it so that console players could be more likely to run it. With the EGC deactivation it's one of the best designed and healthiest perks in the game.
-
Survivor meta perks have been nerfed which means that, on average, survivor MMR will go down. Lets say just for the sake of arguement that your MMR is 1600. You could do pretty well against a team that had about the same points, getting at least 1 or 2 kills on average with the old perks. Now with the survivor having to use weaker perks, the same 1600 group won't be as much of a challenge for you and as such you'll be given better survivors, lets say ones that were 1800 before. They went up against god tier nurses and blights until they got kicked back down to you, a competent, but not great killer.
SoloQ might be kill, but SWFs can still absolutely dominate killers other than cracked Nurses and Blights.
Also, SBMM is notoriously bad and has been since day one of its implementation. You could always just be having a rough patch without any reason at all. I remember about a month ago, getting absolutely monster survivors with Huntress no matter how badly I lost each time.
-
Play a different game and support devs that care about their community <3
-
As I said before the update, unless the killer has no functioning braincell and hooks the survivor next to the exit gate, going down after the last gen pops is a death sentence. I understand the frustration of not being able to do anything about DS in the endgame, but now there isn't even a point to trying.
-
The thing about survivor deranking is that as far as SoloQ is concerned, it's a damned if you do damned if you don't. If you don't derank, you are going to face the sweaty and to some extent capable killers that will breeze through a match due to how they buffed tunneling and camping.
If you do derank and get killers that aren't that good, you'll just have bush hiding Claudettes and locker diving Dwight's that won't do gens even when you take agro.
I do wonder however, how the skill balance is going to change in the longterm. A lot of survivors are going to be pushed down to killers that are less experienced than they are. My current theory is that low level killer is going to be a pretty bad experience, because the average but not great survivors will be forced to play with you and use their skills to outplay you at every turn. Time will tell I guess.
-
"Guaranteed free escape!"
Now it's a guaranteed kill unless the Killer literally went baby mode and carried the survivor to the hook closest to the gates. Good to know only one side deserves guaranteed free stuff thrown at them!
-
The best thing to come out of AOT in my, admittedly very biased, opinion.
-
Due to latency and DBD being, well, DBD it's not very reliable anymore. I'm sure very experienced survivors will still get plenty of mileage out of it, but at least now it's not just an almost guaranteed free health state.
