Literally nothing. At this point they should just make lobbies completely random. Or assign people by play time. And before someone jumps in with their galaxy brain take on time played=/=skill, yes, I'm well aware of that. But no system could be worse than what we currently have.
-
If I didn't have 15 minute long ques even during peak hours I would also do that.
-
Distortion
Dead Hard (or any other exhaustion perk that you like, alternatively Iron Will, Deliverance)
Left Behind
Wake up
Raised my 6-8% escape rate to about 11-12%. It will still take hours, but it's slightly less taxing on your sanity in SoloQ Hell.
-
You don't.
Playing SoloQ in the year of our lord 2022, you have only yourself to blame.
-
######### great.
People are still going to DC just like they do it every single ######### day regardless of whether or not there are penalties. The only difference now is that we will be held hostage in a game we can't win.
And of course people are still getting legitimate crashes because of BHVR's spaghetti code not to mention the hacker/cheating endemic just DC-ing killers for the heck of it.
Thanks for two fun days I guess? Back to another game I suppose.
-
It's already so ridiculously hard to get banned (there are freaking youtube channels out there advertising they are cheating for crying out loud) someone would need video evidence of you doing something blatantly cheating related and nobody else. I wouldn't worry about it.
-
Because the entire forum throws a baby tantrum with the big common enemy, that people DCing are ruining the game. Not the cheaters, not the godawful MMR system that is utterly incapable of putting good killers against good survivors and vice versa, not the horrificly unbalanced killers, addons, maps, items, SWF, no it's the already completely ######### in the ass SoloQ players that don't want to waste 15 minutes of their lives playing a match that was lost because a player DC-ed thirty seconds into the game that's "ruining the game". But don't worry, BHVR is hard on the case and I'm sure cheaters won't just be back in full force 6 hours after they patch their vulnerabilities. Like the last ######### time.
-
Haven't had this much fun in SoloQ since SBMM was introduced. It's so refreshing that when a game is lost 30 seconds into the game it doesn't get dragged out wasting 15 minutes of your life.
-
Oh wow. Forum killers should really stop sealclubbing potatoes and go up against kill teams, didn't have a single DC and I played the big three (Nurse, Blight and Spirit) both yesterday and today.
-
I mean it killed SoloQ completely and the playerbase keeps on plummeting and plummeting, but I'm sure there are ten million console players online at any given time of day.
-
They realize it, they just don't care.
-
SoloQ survivor has never been worse and is functionally unplayable. I started playing in 2022 but this is the first time I actually reroll my dailies for survivors hoping that I get a killer based one instead.
Killer is pretty good actually. Obviously, bad maps, busted tools, the OP nature of SWFs are all still issues, but I've had the least stress playing killer in all these years.
I am however very concerned about this whole basekit unbreakable and mori change direction. Nobody asked for the stupid last man standing mechanic and they are wasting their time on that as opposed to making the SoloQ improvements, reworking maps, fixing bugs, balancing killers etc.
-
Que times got so bad that they further loosened MMR restrictions to the point where there is functionally no matchmaking.
-
BuT tHe GaMe WoUlD BeCoMe UnPlAyAblE!
So....nothing changes? Go ahead.
-
My nurse is at the bare minimum over the soft cap having versed True, Otz and Hens so far, but two days ago I got a Meghead with 46 hours. SBMM doesn't exist.
-
You either SWF or you don't play survivor. The killer patch has literally killed SoloQ.
And no, I'm not memeing, exaggerating or trying to express that games have overall become more frustrating to play. What I'm saying is that you need to play 20-30 games (depending on whether you are lucky or not on any given day) to get one, single, measly match, that you could classify as normal (meaning the killer won't tunnel/facecamp at 5 gens, survivors don't DC 20 seconds in when an M1 killer downs them because they can't loop to save their lives). SoloQ is literally dead. Literally.

I have a serious question for you regarding Pig! Do you think Pig is good and when you play her how do you do and with what builds?
I played her with Spirit Fury/Enduring/STBFL/Brutal Strength and i lost with only one kill. Not just that game but i don't do to well with her in general and out of the 14 killers i play i do the worst with her.
Why? What's your take on Pig? I think shes absolutely terrible and the weakest killer in DBD right now which is crazy to me.
Almost all veteran players put Pig in the weakest or second weakest category when it comes to killer ranking, because her chase potential is just very lacking. If you are going up against survivors that are decent/good at looping, you either have to play like an absolute scumbag which I refuse both because I don't endorse that behavior and because it's even more humiliating to spend the entire match trying to tunnel someone out and then watch all four teabag at the exit gate, or you have to accept that you are most likely going to lose. I just find her fun to play both ambush and reverse bear trap wise, plus Amanda was my favorite character in the Saw franchise.
If I want to play her seriously, I don't leave the house without Corrupt Intervention. Like seriously, that perk is such a huge help for a killer that has a slow start it's insane, it's non negotiable. Deadlock is a passive and powerful gen delay perk, so I'd also highly encourage that. No Way Out can give you a second chance to win the game/secure a kill and if you find hatch first it's basically a 4k unless they happen to find a key on a chest. Pain Resonance, Jolt, Eruption, Call of Brine are pretty okay choices as the fourth perk, but they are all active perks so sometimes you'll get less value out of them that you had hoped for. Bringing Brutal Strength or Save The Best For Last is also not the worst idea, helping you out in chases.
Whatever option you go with, never feel bad for losing a game as Pig, she is just a weak killer in general even before you factor in broken maps, SWFs and OP items, although her built in game delay can be pretty sweet!
-
I actually used a build like that once for some healing archive or such.
Ormond, Billy, the obsession was a Claudette. I'm not exaggerating or messing around, she was the literal walking definition of the meme. The killer downed someone? She immediately ran away and hid in a bush even if he was on the other side of the map. She would unhook you and leave you there. She was the only one without a single hook state lost at the endgame.
The Billy gave her hatch after he tossed me right back up on the hook for the last time.
-
I would personally use the generic slowdown build:
Corrupt, Deadlock, No Way Out and either Jolt for M1 killers or PR. Or, if you want to be really spicy either Noed or a utility/tracking perk to give a little edge in chase like STBFL, Discordance, Make Your Choice etc.
-
Bloodpoints For Everyone Bubba:
Speed limiter, Hex:Plaything, Beast of Prey, Distressing, Sloppy Butcher.
Sigma Legion Grindset:
Brutal, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Bamboozle
Forget The Gens Pig:
Hex:Plaything, Pentimento, Corrupt, Merciless Storm
There's also Backpack Nurse/Blight (it's legit scary how many games you can win because survivors don't expect that off meta build) and STBFL oriented builds, even on killers where that doesn't really work (Wraith etc) paired up with Make Your Choice to minimize stack loss.
-
Ho boy.
PR and Eruption aren't that super strong, especially against a competent team and doubly so if you don't play Nurse, Blight or a Killer with a busted addon. But if you are downing survivors every ten seconds, do you even need perks?
Huge agree on Corrupt being slept on though! It's still insanely strong and can give you very much needed delay at the start of the match.
Devour my totem, Pop, Sloppy are also super overrated.
OTR: Only insanely strong in SWFs where you can tank a hit for someone else. If the Killer is actually tunneling you, they'll hit you through your built in BT and then down you afterwards, unless you are going against a complete potato that can't track.
Adrenaline: A perk that helps you when you are already winning, very rarely giving you actual value. Sure, it's super exciting when you are injured, in a chase and the last gen pops. But for general use, you are better off with something that gives you value consistently.
Those are my major gripes.
-
The one thing that concerns me the most is that the IP leak/acquisition thing was not addressed. Now maybe they just didn't want to reveal their hands too soon. But I would love it so much if I could start playing without a stupid VPN.
-
I don't.
Played against 3 TTVs in the last week. 2 were super chill and lovely folks, saying that the killer was playing nice and respecting hooked people, all round wholesome endgame chat. The third one called me a little ######### after I gave her hatch.

I’m surprised they put out a huge self care nerf AND made a challenge with it
They definitely missed an opportunity to use the killer tome icon for that challenge.
-
I actually got it on my first try when I had a relatively decent day with MMR and not just dying 19 games in a row. The hatch one though? Three entire freaking days. Even had a Mikaela t-bagging me at the gate despite me pointing at her and my name being literally "Hatch Escape". No the killer was not looking. Ended up getting it organically, but some of these challenges, especially for a SoloQ Forever Survivor are a bit too much.
-
So...no change? Cool.
-
They are ABSOLUTELY going to remove self-pickup because of the whining. Must inflate those kill rates!
-
I guess they want to know how bad the average player thinks the situation is. Not just the people that make their living out of sealclubbing potato opponents.
-
You are right. Maybe the killers should get some stuff in return, like longer gens, faster pallet breaks, even easier tunneling...
-
The game is currently killer sided, so a balanced change would have kept things bad, I'm happy!
-
"Will be"
Lol. Just because Dowsey can clap potato survivors like no tomorrow doesn't mean they were ever good.
-
"Grunts of pain are now reduced by 1%"
=)
-
Sounds like a skill issue.
-
Kindred, including the killer aura reading. But like, unironically.
-
I was constantly monitoring both the forums and twitter for that myself, but nothing was ever publicly addressed. They basically hoped that the DDOS epidemic would blow over, lose its popularity and people would move on without anything being done. I took a break from the game when artist came out hoping that the issue would be solved, but came back with a VPN 3 months later. I'm still using it and need it, getting DDOSed about once every two weeks on average. Sometimes more often, sometimes less often.
-
I genuinely don't understand why they don't give us a 2vs8 gamemode for a week during April's Fool on the PTB. Everyone constantly nags them for it and no matter how unfun, unbalanced it would be, it's PTB, no harm is done whatsoever and people can fool around for limited time. Just imagine loading into a match with a Bubba Buddy and chainsaw sweeping at the same survivor from both ends of the loop!
Bots are going to be a wonderful addition to the game while the instamori is just a horrible design, so I expect the latter.
-
It is probably the worst designed perk in the game right now (not useless like some others, but does its job in a horribly ineffectual way). If the killer is tunneling, he is just going to hit you while you have BT and then your OTR and DH is literally useless. If the killer isn't tunneling, then you can get some value out of it, but then it's not being used as an anti-tuneling perk. It also deactivates in the end game, while BT, DH don't. I still run DS actually, not because it's as strong as before, but just to spite the killer since I play SoloQ so any killer that decides to tunnel has a 90% of winning the match.
-
If you have a basekit survivor with 0 prestige level, I'm going to dodge the lobby as a survivor, because chances are we shouldn't be going against the same killer.
I don't really dodge lobbies as killer anymore. If the survivors are godly I just play for BP gain and look forward to my MMR drop and an easier match next time around.
-
As others have said it, cheating and preventing it is an arms race and even the best of games and best of developers will never write code that is 100% unbeatable.
However.
The fact that a year after the DDOS debacle exploded, people can still access your IP address is inexcusable. We have dedicated servers, there's exactly zero reason why player 1 should have access in any capacity to player 2's IP address. This is the one thing that is completely on BHVR for not being fixed, forcing me and others to use VPN in order to play their game. I can look past the myriad of technical issues, the lack of any balancing whatsoever, occasional cheaters, but that is the one thing for which they have no defense and I have no patience to be nice about.
-
They want Killer to be the power role that is in line with what you would expect with an asymmetrical horror game. It would honestly be fine too if they did a pretty good job at balancing it, so skill mattered more than RNG and teammates.
-
It's a wee bit OP! Maybe nerf the Pig to adjust the stats a bit?
-
"According to our stats, a lot of people claimed them, so it must be a good way to handle this!"
BHVR, probably.
-
It is the least restricted way to heal yourself. It's a net negative with the current healing speed, but that's not as intuitive as being able to ALWAYS heal yourself no matter what.
-
Friendly reminder that whenever somebody tells you something, pay attention to what it is that they are NOT saying.
For example, as others have pointed out, the statistics are not broken down by MMR brackets (not that "high" and "low" MMR even mean something when your formula to calculate it is so oversimplified (kill/escape+1) that matchmaking could be completely random and there would be no statistically meaningful change between average escape rates) so we don't really have a better understanding of anything.
They also didn't give us killer wait time proper, just that "up to X seconds faster". 3 months ago I could hop into a game between 5 in the afternoon and 10 at night within one minute. Now even in high traffic times the shortest killer queue time I had was ten minutes.
And SoloQ escape rate hovers below 10% consistently (I don't even want to know what's low MMR hell must be like where you don't even have the chance of getting capable teammates), so those totally non-existent SWFs really pull their weight.
I'm already depressed that SoloQ had been killed with the patch and they seem content with letting it get buried because random, unsorted data totally supports them.
-
I have personally also noticed an uptick in DDOS or at least disconnected from host attacks. It's really funny, because 3 months ago my game crashed while playing survivor. Following that I haven't had a single technical issue while playing survivor. I have been disconnected from the host 6 times as killer though in the same time span, and I play significantly more survivor than killer. But I'm sure it's all just a massive coincidence how when I down some flashlight macro survivor and start picking them up, my connection is just magically lost. Those rascal optical cable fairies who left me alone for a few months after the last big surge and are now back with a vengeance!
-
I leave as quickly as possible. Maybe open a box or a cleanse a totem for some BP, but I've been in those shoes as a Killer myself, so I try my best to be considerate.
-
There is exactly one thing you need to keep in mind regarding Soloq.
The devs.
Don't.
Care.
But seriously, think about it for just one second. They admitted a few months back, that there was a significant gap between SWF and SoloQ (15% escape rate difference? Or was it 25%?) so they planned on introducing a few changes that would alleviate some of the problems. The main idea was a little status icon next to the HUD, that would show who is on a gen and who is being chased by the killer, filling in a portion of the power difference between a SWF and a SoloQ team.
The game already keeps tracks of various actions performed by the survivor and if the obsession is being chased, that's actually relayed to the entire team already. Even by BHVR standards, this would be by far the easiest and quickest change to make to the game, one week tops and that includes the art team doing the icons. And yet Peanits has himself confirmed that this project is currently on ice and isn't coming for at least another year, and that's the absolute bare minimum.
Then, they release the most Killer sided patch that sees an insane ramping up of tunneling and camping, so much so that even they have to quickly slap on some bandaids to placate the community in the form of a perk against camping hidden behind a paywall, and a extra few seconds of BT as if that perked did anything other than potentially guarantee an endgame escape. Literally nothing has changed and nothing will.
They could have at least given us a basekit Kindred (remove the Killer aura reading if you so desperately want, even though it would be perfectly fine as is) but no. They consider their job done ("we are monitoring the stats for further changes") and if you don't like dying 49 out of 50 games, find a SWF and win 9 out of 10 matches.
The devs.
Don't.
Care.
-
To be actually fair and balanced, they did say they were working on a way to weigh personal performance as opposed to just the end product of escaping/killing. But considering every single time they announce a change with the intention of fixing X, they just make it even more horrible, it's probably better if they don't touch the system. After all, SBMM is only a little worse than grades was, do we really want an even worse system?
-
It's reverse day already? How quickly time flies.
-
Good question. When was the last time they made the correct decision about something? And how many years of data did it take for them to finally admit it?
