In my experience, often a survivor will bring a very strong map because they had an incredibly frustrating gaming session and they need all the advantage they can get to have a decent match. So if someone has been tunneled six games in a row, they'll be far more likely to ragequit if they are the first one to be found even when they go out of their way to rig the odds. I know the default state on this forum is that every single survivor is an evil, misery spreading jerk who thrives on annoying you to no end, but they are just humans like everyone else here.
That being said, I of course don't condone such behavior, it ruins the fun for other people, I'm merely stating that I can understand their state of mind and motivations behind their actions.
-
Not really. Even strong Killers like Nurse and Blight can be sent to disadvantageous maps and having to chew through 4 DHs and DSs take a lot of time that Killers just cannot afford. Obviously, you can dumpster a weak team with no perk Ghostface, but good luck doing that consistently against the cracked SWFs that don't waste all match trying to flashlight save and actually know how to loop.
-
Let's take stock then!
1) Nurse is completely broken and can mop the floor with comp teams
2) Blight is completely broken and can mop the floor with comp teams, sometimes even harder than Nurse
3) Spirit is completely broken and can mop the floor with comp teams.
4) NOED is a free kill/win button despite it's supposed "nerf"
5) Killrates are above 70% combined.
Yeah, the game is totally survivor sided. What a joke. People need to stop being carried by perks.
-
My third match on the Decimated Borgo was with Billy and I was pretty much just chilling and then experienced what you have described OP. The Nea was predropping pallets like hot potatoes and they still had like 5-6 left before they were all out. Granted, I didn't bring any passive slowdown and I never stopped chasing her because I was fascinated to see just how god awful that map is but ever since then, I just accept the L like it's Eerie, Game, Garden of Pain etc.
-
Absolutely not.
High MMR SoloQ has literally not changed a single bit and escape rates didn't even raise by one percent, let alone some massive winning spike. It's still Blights and Nurses bulldozing hapless randos while the sweaty SWFs are bullying the 60 hour Trapper.
My Killer games have also remained unchanged. Playing nice, having bad map RNG, using a weaker killer is still just as masochistic as before, but no matter how much info you give a SoloQ player, they'll still go down in a few seconds to basic M1 killers while nobody is touching gens.
I have no experience at low and mid low MMR so I don't know what it is like there, but I find it hard to imagine the situation is that much better. The lower you go in skill the more killer sided the game is.
-
That would just let observant folks work out in great detail how terrible the matchmaking currently is, so BHVR will never implement it, claiming it's a bullying issue. Which it is not.
-
Ideally? 50%. You win half of your games and lose half of them. Approximately. But I'll take any increase from the current abysmal SoloQ escape rate, I dislike the idea of having to play a game for 4-6 hours to get a single victory.
-
I know exactly how this is going to go.
I'll log in hoping to have a lot of fun and get three Starstruck Nurses send me and my random SoloQ team to Midwich.
Then I switch to Killer and bury my hand in my face as very experienced survivors teabag after every single one of the 217 pallets on Game, while I just wanted to play Pig, Trapper, Wraith etc.
-
I mean everyone worth listening to knows already that the game is Nurse/Blight/Spirit>SWF>Killer>SoloQ sided.
-
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is exactly one thing and one thing only that you can do if you want more escapes / more fun while playing survivor.
SWF up.
No, seriously. I understand that your current friends aren't interested, but in that case you should join a content creator's Discord or look for Groups on Steam. SoloQ is dead and buried, there's nothing you can do. Even if you run the killer for five entire minutes, if your teammates aren't contributing, you will eventually get hooked. The whole "doing gens, you?" thing became a meme for a very good (as in bad) reason. You might hear propaganda proclaiming that SWFing only gives you 15% extra escape chance tops, but that's manipulated data to minimize the perceived efficiency. The difference between SoloQ and SWF is whether you die or escape 9 out of 10 matches.
I would absolutely not run Adrenaline if I were you. That's an amazing perk when sealclubbing or SWFing, but since your escape rate is also in the dev's much coveted 20-30% and SoloQ matches very rarely get to endgame, you are better off with bringing a perk that has better general utility. I'm currently using Dead Hard + DS + Reassurance + Unbreakable and I also bring a medkit with two full heals. This covers almost every situation that you can come across, with the sole exception of the killer tunneling someone other than you. But in that case, just smash those gens and hope that they last long enough. You can also Reassurance the tunneled survivor on death hook since the killer will likely proxy camp, giving you time to potentially finish gens while he is keeping an eye on your teammate.
If you are desperate, you can go for: Distortion (first person that gets found gets tunneled out so never be found). Left Behind (people say Clairvoyance is better but with LB you can bring a key in case the map doesn't have a hatch offering plus you don't need to mess around with totems). Wake Up (in case you don't have a key and have to risk exit gates). And either an exhaustion perk or COH. Maybe unbreakable or power struggle for a clutch escape in case the killer leaves you to be the last one sacrificed, I'll never forget escaping a Nemi when I dropped Killer shack on him.
The last school of thought is to just become an absolute unit in chase, dedicate your build to it (DH,WOO,Res,Bond) take aggro so that the first chase takes a while and survivors create pressure and then pray you find one of those killers that doesn't tunnel. If people on this forum are to be believed, they actually exist. Somewhere apparently.
Good luck!
-
Have you ever considered that just as much as you hate being sent to that map, some unlucky schmuck that went up against 3 Top 1% Nurses and 2 Top 1% Blights in the last five matches wants to give himself at least a fighting chance? I know, I know, all survivors are toxic SWFs who just want to hurt you. But not every single map offering is in ill will. When I'm doing an adept, I'm just giving myself and edge by going to Gideon, I bear absolutely no ill intent towards that poor Clown that has been breaking pallets all day.
-
I may not be an OG player, but to think that I have lived to see the day when people cry SoloQ OP! while it's easier than ever to tunnel out the first survivor, not to mention killers have the highest kill rate in the game's history. That's definitely something.
-
Eruption+COB
Boil Over + Residual Manifest: Even though they messed up the timing, I had to drop a Kate once on Lery because I had no clue where to go and horsey perk op.
-
3rd survivor sacrificed.
Ace is running towards the exit gate.
Not even one light, easy-peasy!
Opens the door in 3 seconds and moonwalks out clicking his flashlight.
-
Why do people still believe that OTR is an anti-tunnel perk? It's a bully perk for well coordinated SWFs, nothing more nothing less.
Run DS and DH to waste as much time as possible. And if you have Reassurance, use it on a tunneled survivor and don't unhook them until the very last second for crying out loud!
-
SoloQ OP pls nerf!!!11111
-
That's literally how SBMM has worked since the day it was implemented. You can absolutely watch old vods of competent players who, for some inexplicable reason, go up against absolute newbies without deliberately smurfing.
I stopped watching DBD content a long while ago, but gave Hens333 and his squads escape streak a watch, and I think they played against a Plague that didn't even know what a mindgame was, straight after barely escaping against a top %1 Nurse player. The bottom line is this:
SBMM doesn't work.
SBMM has never worked.
SBMM will never work.
-
I've said this before the HUD came out and the update only confirmed my worst fears. You could give every SoloQ player every single aura reading perk and you would still not see a significant change in SoloQ life. As long as the matchmaking is complete thrash, SoloQ is going to be the most miserable gaming experience.
-
Going after someone who has just been unhooked. I don't care if you have hooked two other survivors since hooking survivor A, if A gets unhooked only afterwards and you are straight up going for them it's tunneling, very simple.
-
First match
Forget to take off Kindred
Facecamping Bubba
Two teammates standing behind trees and watching him facecamp.
*Sad gen repair noises*
-
I played Bubba on it against a SWF and it was a zero hook game with at least four more pallets up, not helped by Garden of Pain levels of collision on random clutter. Complete garbage.
(Just like my killer skills, zing!)
-
Because only killers are allowed to complain that the other side is too strong, despite Nurses and Blights destroying even tournament squads.
-
Having played a couple of games and it's just as underwhelming as I had imagined it. While it's nice not having to run Kindred and having more information for free, the real issue with SoloQ has always been skill discrepancy. You could literally give ten perk slots for SoloQ lobbies and the escape rate wouldn't climb even 5 percent. The 100 hour Meghead will never run the 5k hour Nurse for more than two blinks. And I guess that's it for SoloQ for the next five years. Thanks BHVR!
-
In the current state of the game, unfortunately the answer is yes.
The core issue that makes this problem pretty much unsolvable is the amount of variables and their significance. Imagine Clown with no slow down perks on the Game versus the sweatiest Nurse player on Shelter Woods. Even if our MMR was just a vaguely accurate representation of our skill (it is not, it might as well be completely randomly generated), exactly how much would you adjust for both of those killers, provided it is the same person playing them?
Killer power, perks, addons, map, SWF. These all fundamentally change how likely it is that a given player can win. It would be an insane amount of work to find formulas for these things.
And the cherry on top? Even if BHVR could magically come up with the perfect matchmaking system, it wouldn't matter. They want fast que times, so even if the currently woefully inaccurate MMR was just fixed with the snap of a finger, it would still be ignored just so people don't have to wait more than 10 seconds for a match.
As a killer that regularly faces SWFs who should be going up against Nurses, Blights and Spirits and not my chase oriented M1 killers, I really can't give you any good news. BHVR has made it pretty clear to me that they are never going to fix the core issues plaguing the game, I'm stuck due to the sunk and cost fallacy with 2.7k hours, but if you can move on, please never look back.
Happy gaming!
-
If BHVR wants people not to DC they have to fix their game. They won't do that so...
-
DC penalties are very much active (can confirm after playing against a 10k hour slugging Nurse who never picked anyone up) and I don't see a particular increase. Giving up on first hook seems to be somewhat more prevalent. My Brutal/Enduring/SpiritFury/STBFL Pig has a 50% chance of the first surviving going next which is a pity. You are going up against a weak killer with no slowdown, who doesn't tunnel, literally the SoloQ heaven all people wish for.
-
Ah yes, the psychological maturity display of I'm not enjoying the game so I'm going to make random people that never did anything to me miserable. A real classic! Hope you don't have access to any tools that can take human life OP.
-
On the EU server they have definitely messed something up big time yesterday. About 10-12 matches were every single time I was up against a Nurse/Blight/Plague and all of them played really well with high amount of playtime (5k+) on their profiles when public. But my survivor mates? In 4 of those matches I had at least one person with less than 50 hours in the game. In the others, they were still going down in like 5-10 seconds.
Switching to killer was abysmal as well, literal beginners who run edgemap, never look behind them and throw every pallet even if you are already telegraphing hard you are going to mindgame.
-
Nope! Non-facecamping Bubbas are some of the my favorite killers to verse!
-
Lightborn has become pretty much essential. Good survivors will run away from walls when going down so you have two options.
1) Risk the save and pick up, turning in a direction you least expect the save to come from and watch the survivor SB in front of you, incapable of messing up the timing anymore.
2) Spend half a gen worth time looking around that lets the entire time slam other gens and even risk someone sneaking in your blindspot and perform option 1.
-
Think about it this way.
It's just THIS bad with anti-cheat, not even worse (whatever that could possibly be).
-
Please never let people gaslight you into thinking you are bad at whatever. I'm sure there is room for improvement, but Dead By Daylight is ridiculously broken when it comes to balance. Why do you think tournaments basically never see a killer outside the usual and very limited suspects? If you aren't playing one of the broken killers or utilize the scummiest of tactics, the majority of games aren't really winnable, especially when you are on a map like Game, Garden of Pain or RPD. I wish I could tell you that eventually you'll get weaker teams, but with SealcluBbing based MatchMaking, that's not guaranteed. Try and get into the mindset of fun chases>winning, it's very annoying when survivors rub their incredibly easy victory in your face, but eventually you should be able to just shrug it off and gg out.
-
I personally tend to believe that Demo mains aren't very hardcore DBD gamers and are mostly in it for the Stranger Things aspect so they aren't creme of the creme. I did come across one basement make your choice tunneler Demo and one godly one in the last week alone. Neither matches were fun, so there are definitely monsters out there dominating the field with their Demos, but I do admit I'm usually not frustrated when I see one in SoloQ.
-
One of these days SoloQ hell is going to make me overcome my social anxiety and join a discord to SWF. So, I guess thanks BHVR?
-
I wouldn't mind if we could get a half-price refund, when would I ever use Trapper's meme addon?
-
I'm on PC and yesterday I had multiple You have been disconnected from the host errors while trying to find a match.
-
Agreed. I actually put Pop back on for a few matches just for nostalgia. Performs worse, but way more fun.
-
Good Nurses and Blights are literally just go next tier. Average ones are actually pretty fun to verse.
Spirit/Plague: Unsalvagable garbage, delete please tier.
And I have a burning passion for Onis as a SoloQ player. I have a worse escape rate against him than Nurse.
-
They really should allow a survivor to bleed out when they have been slugged for more than 60 seconds.
-
I'll take Tell Me You Are A Killer Main While Saying You Are Not for 200 Alex.
-
Lately I actually like seeing toolboxes in my lobbies. I put on the backpack build and hope it's a sabo/meme squad, those are the best. If they want all five gens repaired in 3 minutes then so be it, I'm going next quicker.
-
Sorry if I'm bursting some bubbles, but if you win with a trash tier killer (Legion, Pig, Wraith etc) it wasn't because you are good at the game (although you might be!) The only reason is that the survivors were complete potatoes.
-
Literally just to stop people from picking it. The devs don't care about the health of the game even the tiniest bit. If it went back to five seconds and didn't require a skillcheck, it would be the most balanced and healthy perk in the game. Potentially make it deactivate in case you are healed through any means. Sad.
-
Around 70-80% of all matches are a 3/4k wins for the killer. The devs apparently still can't let go of the idea that DBD is a spoopy game.
"But the devs said the killrate is only 60 percent!"
Yes, they showed us their sanitized stats that didn't count DCs, which are almost always going to end up as a lose.
"But my favorite streamer has a 90% escape rate!"
Yes, I agree. SWF is OP and matchmaking is completely garbage.
-
Realistically speaking, nothing.
You could literally give every single meta perk to all SoloQ players and they would still be completely wiped out with 4 gens remaining. The only thing that could make SoloQ at least playable would be a proper skill based matchmaking. But as long as your 10k hour Blights with the most busted addons and the Midwich only Starstruck prestige 100 Nurses are sealclubbing 10 hour Megheads, no amount of change will solve anything. Sure, one or two matches will be less frustrating, but SoloQ is dead for the rest of this game's lifetime. They should just remove it altogether and save everyone a lot of trouble.
-
Unfortunately, it's never going to happen, despite the fact that by every conceivable measures SBMM performs objectively worse than the old ranking.
>But muh rainbow lobbies!
Rainbow lobbies were a thing, yes. Every once in a blue moon your iri rank survivor got matched up against a bunch of browns who had no idea what to do. It was not literally ~80% of the games (why the devs wanted this high of a kill rate is still beyond me).
>But the devs claim the stats are better!
Oh yeah, the folks who spent 3 years on kill/escape good! escape/dying bad! will be totally honest with us! Like when they give us the sanitized stats that don't include a huge chunk of the games played on the live server because DCs.
If you want to have fun in DBD, SWF up. Take it or leave it.
-
There is nothing quite like the feeling when a SoloQ match goes right.
Just today, for the first time in my 2.3k hours in this game, I had a Kate waving at me not to finish repairing the gen we were working on to avoid a 3-gen, it was so refreshing to play with someone who had a working brain! And the rest of the team worked perfectly well to boot, managing health states, cleansing NOED, taking the Killer away from the gens being worked on, it was just magical.
I just wish it didn't take 20-30 matches to get a good one, when the DC penalty was off at least we could speedrun through the garbage games, now I have to waste 2-3 hours to get a good team.
-
I see absolutely no realm of existence in which that perk doesn't need a nerf, it's ridiculously broken.
-
Absolutely nothing. Why do you think every single high MMR match is first survivor that gets found gets tunneled out immediately? Pretty good job so far!
-
I would much prefer a constant arms race between balancing survivor and killer than just putting up your hands and saying nothing can be done and SoloQ needs to be absolutely insufferable.
That preferential matchmaking really gets to people's heads.
