I just got bored of the game in general. For the last few weeks I haven't played that much.
I know the feeling. Sometimes just need a break from something, especially like DBD that can give you really rough matches.

By "Cover" I am talking about Gears of War-style cover: when you are up against an obstacle you press the button and you flatten yourself against the obstacle as if trying to get cover from gunfire.
The purpose of course wouldn't be to avoid bullets, though I can see it being used against Huntress possibly. The bigger reason is to give a buff to stealth: now Survivors can lessen the visible area of their model by hugging obstacles and making themselves look smaller.
Not sure how big a deal it would be but I'd like to see a feature like this.
If not part of the base game, then maybe a perk? (I hate Bandaid Perks)
That would be kinda cool, make stealth more viable and fun

I really wanna buy him since he is on sale now but I'm afraid I'll end up using him only on rank reset
Also his crouching speed is the same as pig's. So what's the difference between them apart from their power?
Biggest part? He can move full speed stealth. Use LoS blockers to run straight up to them and grab them. His stealth isnt limited to ONLY crouching. If anything my ownly real use of crouch is breaking my Loss when they are spotting me and I don't want to be spotted just yet.

I don’t understand why people always insult me when I do badly on killer(we have all bad games).I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND and it hurt me to read all the trash talk on me.When someone is doing bad or tunnel me I won’t text the person and insult him even if I’m angry.I don’t understand people that are mean, it is disrepectful and I don’t understand...
It's the problem with most competitive games, trash talking will happen often. My advice is ignore it. How you act is your karma, how they act is theirs.
Remember that ultimately it's a game, have fun and smile and if you lose you lose. Doesn't make them better, or you when you win. The best athletes in the world at their own respected sports still lose sometimes. Like you said bad games happen sometimes and that's all it was. I've had many on both sides and many other games, For Honor being one with also high toxicity.
Try to keep it positive, dont let people get you down because they want to be rude.

Don’t run to your gate of choice, (scratch marks will ruin your plan) then once the killer checks on it bring it to 30% then when the killer checks again open it once the killer leaves. This usually works for me but there are some special cases like:
Does the killer have whispers?
Is it Haddonfield where gates are usually too close?
Is it Lery’s where gates spawn far enough away that I don’t need to do this?
Is it Doc, Snare Freddy, or Trapper?
These scenarios will likely end in your death (or escape on Lery’s) but these are just special cases.
Far to often people get the gates close and hide, on the off chance I'm not Ghostface. Like they forget I can see the bulbs as they light up. On the same hand though I've had a survivor use that against me once. Must have snuck right passed me as I was searching around that gate when I hear the other open. Well played!
That lit bulb gets people killed. Patience is Important.

I love reading how everyone feels about him, GF is absolutely my favorite to play. I'd agree, stalk is never to be used how some use it. It's absolutely purely situational. I find it interesting how some find his stealth reveal unsatisfying when it also reveals who spotted you. It's a great way to find someone you didn't realize was there and immediately start a chase with a free hit because they don't even realise they are marked.
Using him to stealth hit is his real power, his stealth in general. Someone said he's an upgraded Wraith, I say he's everything wraith wishes he was. A true stealth killer. I find the stalking only ever effective as a MYC supplement when you spot a survivor going for the unhook. Cancels BT, you mark the rescuer, and suddenly your choices are abundant. I find his footsie work to be his most important aspect. You must absolutely be in the right spot when things are happening so a little forward planning is required.
Other then that, free PGTW because it's so easy to grab people off gens. Unless his absolute hard counter is in play. Spine Chill. Even then it's counterable, but having to back your ass up to a generator takes so much time so even then it's an evecrive counter to him. Slows him down immensely.

I'll think about it as its supposed to help certain killers on maps like hawkins and such
But thank you
Absolutely, the real problem is what helps low end killers, makes high end killers to effective. If we get some more killers bunched up and effective we can have more ideas like this I think.
-
Also maybe no notification on blackout attempt but I won't lie. I love it the more I read it. Very interesting idea!
-
@Hoodied said:
This idea is a WIP and would most likely need changes
Light Boxes
3 Light Boxes spawn in by the walls of the map, each one at the start of the trial will have 1 light green. When completing a generator, the light will go red on one of the 3 light boxes, all the light boxes auras are shown to the survivor(s) who completed the generator. When a light box has a red light, no generators can be worked on until the light box is repaired, this action takes 13 seconds with rapid good skill checks during the action. Upon being repaired all survivors will hear a sound effect alerting them that generators are able to be repaired again. Perks do effect the timer and "This is not happening" will give the skill checks a great skill check bar.
Blackout box
2 of these spawn in per trial after the 5th generator is completed, this allows exit gates to be activated and one must be activated to make exits available, when working on one you get the Oblivious effect and the killer is alerted it is being worked on by a loud sound notification. The Blackout Box will take 10 seconds to activate.
Perk changes
Hex:NoEd- When a blackout box is repaired, the hex activates. All survivors are exposed and the killer has a boost in movement speed by 1%/ 2%/3%. If a generator is completed 30/35/40 seconds after a lightbox is activated this hex will activate for 20 seconds, and then will deactivate to be activated later.
Hex:Ruin-Also applies to LightBoxes
No One Left Behind- Upon Blackboxes being prepared to be activated you gain 100% more BP in the Altruism category and preform altruism actions 5%/9%/14% faster. Upon exit gates becoming active the altruism actions increase to 9%/14%/18%
So they have to find which box has the red light and you can only finish one gen at a time? I like the idea but it would destroy gen speeds beyond being and counter relia my. At least with that much of a stipulation. Maybe each box pertains to one gen? So you get three then have to get light boxes, then back to gens. Would make mid to end game an interesting romp.
Could also buff trap killers, needs tweaking as you said, and I think balancing on maps properly but.. yeah kind of a cool idea. I wouldn't be against it as a survivor but Everytime I think about this stuff it's so back and forth. On one hand you'd really mess up solo weaker survivors, on the other you'd balance out strong swfs.
I like this idea a bit more than others I've read. But maybe this could be combined with the "certain rank" requirements some have proposed. Like purple and red only ect.

FAKE LOOP POINTS.
Imagine a survivors shock when doc walks straight through!!!
Dear lord, your insane! Which is just what the doctor needs a little of ;). Imagine the chaos of the entire map being different for all the survivors because hallucinations. It's awful, beautifully so. I'm kinda glad they won't do it though because he would be completely broken 😆

I don't like the idea of fake things since they can be entirely luck based on survivors side. They are already annoying on freddy so no thanks.
Also, aren't they just reworking his addons? I don't think he is getting an entire rework like freddy.
To be entirely fair, in Doctors case, they are still completely luck based. Never know what affliction someone might have or if it's any use or where it will be. It's a true mess.

lol.. killers that have sworn to kill survivors start to become friendly, even waving to them? wow.
Yeah but I don't run moris so technically I never kill them, and a little killer side taunting would be nice. Personally I'd like a wave for my functions but the idea of a killer emote is kind of the goal so.
Some days I feel this game could really use just a little light touch here or there.

at least it's doing better job than those illusions that stare at you and do nothing
Everyone can recognize those are illusions, even newcomers.. so there is no point in current one except letting killer know your location
Oh we are in full agreement there, they are useless. I'd like them to come walking up with an appropriate TR at the least. SWF might be strong against it but they kind of are against everything so..
-
@Bravo0413 said:
Any emotes that were too come (asides for fortnut dancing do not add this devs) would be welcome.
Agreed no dances, I honest just specifically want a wave. Like Freddy gives half the time. Could be a bit cocky, could be friendly. Fits the game well enough.
-
@ad19970 said:
Well he is getting a rework next, so that's good. We'll just have to wait and see what the devs do to him, but he definitely needs some buffs.
Not sure how fake windows would work though, since people who play this game somewhat regularly will know where exactly windows spawn and where not. It would just hurt newcomers so I wouldn't want that.
I was aware he was getting add-ons looked at, but is he truly next in the list? I also agree that windows could potentially hurt newcomers but let's be honest, that's all The Doctor really does any good against realistically. I think his ability to jumble up the skill checks already is awful for them. Which is why, combined with a potential fake doc coming at you while your trying to pay attention to the mess he creates could be affective, like really affective. Potentially way to powerful.
-
@OmegaXII said:
Seriously, after freddy rework, doctor can have similar mechanics too. Don't just limit it to fake pallets, give him other fake things like fake windows, fake doctor chasing them, fake wall, fake generator, fake totem... like the there is so much possibilities that can be done with doctor which can make survivors "mad". So what do you think?
The world's leading Legion advocate main and I were both just discussing this. I'd love it all immensely, he could be something really special. Fake windows though seems a bit much or maybe unviable., Depends on map and if the survivors have decent memory but a fun addition nonetheless!

I just expirienced my first ever multiple survivor downing in the basement! Is this why you Leatherface mains exist? For the ecstatic feeling that it is to down multiple people? :D
I managed to get a survivor hooked downstairs and to my surprise after a rather extended chase which I had to give up since he looped close to where the basement spawned. (It had already been long enough for the survivor and his rescuer to have escaped) I turn into the shack to see one had just started coming upstairs. I instantly started to rev up the chainsaw and he turned tail and headed back down (Bwuahahaha) and as I turn the corner in the final steps theres 2 survivors! I start swinging! 1st instantly downed other tries to juke me further towards the back of the basement! Thats when i realized I was wrong.. It was not 2 survivors but 3! The fool dared to touch my chest and had his back turned to me! Caught in the atrocious act and his buddy had steered my right to him! I took a last final wide turn and got both the THIEF and the one who had unintentionally led me to him. Then 1, 2, 3. On tho hooks they went.
Long story short. No one escaped that trial. And normally I let the last survivor live if im having that good of a game. But I couldnt do it. Something came over me. Found the hatch and closed it and the rest was history.
And I was planning on playing Trapper that game till 3 of the 4 brought toolboxes. (Ive recently discovered how fun it can be to use Franklin's Demise and only have it on Leatherface) I hadnt felt like that in a trial in a loooong while. My heart couldnt take it so I had to share on this forum before calling it a night.
Yeah Long Post
SorryNotSorry lol
He is such a wonderful stress reliever. Now for your next goal! Down at least two survivors as they run to close to your chainsaw because you accidentally hit a wall and bubba decided to throw a hissy fit.. that the survivors proceeded to run into. Makes you laugh hysterically at the dumbness of it all really!

I actually proposed during the Ghost Face publicity marketing that Ghost Face should look like a Survivor, and have the ability to change into a Survivor by copying any other Survivor's cosmetics. In this disguise Ghost Face can't attack but can do gens and other survivor-like things other than dropping palettes, but doing so doesn't contribute to gen progress or totem destruction. He also has no terror radius or red stain.
He wouldn't be able to attack in this mode but had to press his power button to take out his mask and robes for a second to put them on before he could attack.
Unfortunately this wasn't the case. But I pushed for the idea again with a "The Thing" killer.
Yeah, a fun idea that just wouldn't work with swf sadly. A killer who could infect a host like the thing though.. that's a thought. Might run into the same problem as the rest though again, sadly. Kind of feels like the plauge is just that idea in reality form. Infects players but has no control over them.
Oh.. that's a thought now isn't it.
A killer who can affect a survivors actions, as a power. Force then to say mess up a gen if they are *infected* as a host.. hm, has potential.

We need a killer that is a shark from a famous 80s movie franchise

The Nurse needs a quick way to turn when not using a mouse
*Look at name*
*Looks at first sentence*
*Look at name again*
I mean hell, I agree completely!
BUT..
Only if it's street sharks cause holy crap that would be horrifying..
-
I would also like to put forward that mimic is a base line term for what I mean. Changing perception is the true end game there. A killer like doctor but not as weak and reliant on strange add-ons. Making you see things that aren't there or may not be. Maybe hearing a phantom heartbeat like that plauge perk, false messenger or something? I think the idea could have real merit and not a just a mimic. But the idea of the mimic extends so far beyond making you look like a survivor.
-
@Cig said:
Instead or working in the killer's terror radius, Borrowed time should work within a proximity of the killer because it doesn't work on MANY of the killers. It doesn't work on Freddy, the Pig can just crouch, Wraith can go invisible and Ghost face and activate his ability. All of those things make it useless.
So please make it work according to proximity of killer, not terror radius.
Well I'm not in huge disagreement but as far as GF goes it's counterable. I can see Pigs being a problem and Freddy is a full counter. It's an incredibly powerful effect for good loopers though and it helps stop tunneling, well punishes it anyway. Like DS, but that is abusable. I like that some killers can counter it, adds some viability to these killers who mostly underperform.

I really wish this was a thing. But Devs have said they will NOT make a mimic Killer. I doubt they would wanna add another game mode. Sorry man.
Absolutely, as I said it's hypothetical and a fun brainstorm. I've found they can really help with a multitude of problems so I wanted to put it forth. See what the community can come up with. As far as a mimic killer, it would never work, so I can't blame them. Unless they had a mode that was suited to that kind of killer ;). All in good fun, I've loved all the killers they release and most survivors so I've nothing to complain about, would just like to see more killers who can compete against good loopers. Has to be dreadful playing Nurse and spirit all the time just for that, even though a few others can get around it . Doesn't affect me though, I have fun either way. "Losing" is just a part of it and subjective at best!

@Mochan said:
Been noticing over the last week when I am in a chase that killers are whiffing a lot more than usual. I mean, they attack but misjudge the distance and miss me by a hair as I run away, and I'm not even doing any fancy 360ing or things like that. Like I just run to a window, they attack and miss and I vault.
I didn't pay it much mind and just thought I got lucky, but it's been happening more often lately and it was happening even prior to rank reset, which meant I was going up against red and purple ranks when this was happening, killers who should know better.
I've come to realize that the whiffing is probably a result of the latency killers are experiencing with dedicated servers, something they're not used to. I'm certainly doing a lot better in chases now than I used to, getting away when I should have been downed by all rights.
Definitely can see this being a thing. Problem is killers will eventually adjust and the difference will fade away. So my advice is enjoy it will it's good!
-
You know I've found MG to be hilarious on Leatherface. Since he is such a joke, I find a ton of people running up to me to body block or just help however they can. I'm holding a survivor, can't use my chainsaw, I'm just a big yellow target. Oh the horrified sprinting away as they realise I'm what I'm using 😆

People talking about killers tunneling the survivors that are traitors but I've had a few games where i gave traitors the hatch because i kind of admire the sliminess, not always and never from a Nea or Claudette but occasionally.
Honestly i think the game would have been better if it stayed the way it started, no SWF all randoms. Because that would of lead to a culture of uneasiness towards each other at all times and the devs could have played around with that with new mechanics to betray each other. It would also basically stop all "gen rushing" which even if you're not toxic is impossible not to do as a SWF because what else are you gonna do lol
Anyway i like when they point out each other in lockers and #########, not this bs lol that's a hook
On one hand, full disagree. Losing the option to play with friends would potentially irreparable harm the game. On the other hand, who better to screw over than your friends? I can see both sides, potentials and flaws alike.
I love the idea of a game where you might not be able to trust your supposed teammate but those games must be built around that playstyle. So, maybe, an entirely new game mode for DBD. Most likely will never happen, but theoretically if it did, it would need to be its own thing.
-
Okay, I'll bite!
We need a killer that is demonic
We need a perk that can influence perception. Like the doctors mirages or Distraction*I think it's called* Could be either side I don't care I just love a proper mind game.
Survivors need a secondary objective passed totems, I find it tough to say they are a secondary when they are mostly ignorable except for a few perks. It's a tight rope but either way I'd like to see something to make survivor more fun then the just the chase. Friday the 13th nailed this and I've seen it mentioned, maybe something to find?
Leatherface needs to be better, QoL or rework. I'd fully accept him being attended to after Legion or Wraith, but he's underwhelming at best. It's sad because him and Ghostface are my favorite slasher killlers. One out of two ain't bad though. I just want to see him played more. He horrifies me as a survivor, but no one plays him so I never get to "be scared". Unless I turn around and Myers is being a creep again. Damn creepy Myers..

I've had teammates bodyblock for literally no reason, or pallet slam me. Using cynicism to assume it never happens for no reason is a bit much, and I'll easily admit it doesn't happen often, definitely. Not enough to warrant removing it for sure.
Also a bit strange how you admit to doing something you can be reported for though I've never known what the punishment is for repeated abuse of a function. Granted, if you did it to scum bags, it's earned. If I see someone blocking a teammate though, I'll focus them before who they blocked, if it was obviously intentional. Never assume either way. However, a referee can only really call what he sees.
But if I'm bodyblocked? I just report and move on. It's frustrating but not really something to freak out over. Not fun sure and against the rules.

My favorite build for Demo is DH, STBFL, Pop, and a Free Fourth.
You can keep STBFL stacks if you shred the obsession only. It's funny to hear the demo scream cut short, and it keeps you right on them. People underestimate the strength of this perk, but there are times where I down survivors when I normally wouldn't.
Pop, to reward me for constantly hooking people. (It's a backup for if DH gets destroyed.)
You can keep your totem up by activating a portal on it, so you don't need TOTH... but it'll be more secure if you do have TOTH.
.. it cuts shred short too? Holy lord I'd not realized O.O! Well I'ma use the crap out if that!

I enjoy survivor when I have at least one person to play with, Everytime I'm solo everyone quits and I feel left out, it's a lonely awful experience. At least with a friend we can laugh and joke. Probably why I lean towards killer more often, unless friends are on, which these days are far because they all refuse to learn how to hide or loop so they never last long.. the get frustrated and the loop begins. *Shrug*

I use to feel the same way, the toxicity got to me at a point and i snapped and stopped caring. Maybe if the grind wasn't so aggressive early on before you have anything decent, or after a prestige, then each game would lose so much of that "must perform" attitude I use to have. When I got what I want on a character I've learned to mellow out and just enjoy the game. Especially as survivor, I'll always be Jake, stopped at p2 and love my perks I've got on him though literally none are meta except Iron Will and Spine Chill and that's subjective depending on skill and play, except Iron Will because it's awesome.

Legion needs a lot of work imo, its just too demoralizing to try to play them at high rank right now, you need to have an absolutely perfect balance of map pressure and chase times, with a dash of luck for ruin not going down instantly. I still don't have the perks for their slowdown build, so I'm kinda stuck with them until I do. Shame I have to buy 6+ other builds for other killers to make them viable before I can come back to legion. maybe the meta will change again by then and the stuff i actually have can be viable.
Don't use Ruin myself, isn't reliable, but TT or PGTW instead. Though I don't know how well he works with Ruin so I can't speak of what's better, but I found relying on it always made me lose something I could have done better with if I had something else. Especially since recently people have been in a habit of letting gens sit close to finish and gen tapping the second I leave into a chase, PGTW excels there.

Same, I run DH, TOTH, TT, and any 4th. Big boy is fun as hell!

I don't know about heavily survivor sided but having played Hillbilly there my last two games I just.. I just don't enjoy it as much. If I could get a GF game there I think I could do considerably better. Stealth potential is nuts, also trapper potential in those small hallways is great. Absolutely! I've read your stuff often, I've read these forums for a long time but never joined till now. So I know you're a huge advocate of his play health, as am I as a Bubba fan! I've only played against them once, and the person using them was good, but I felt they were definitely underwhelming and for the people who just enjoy the relentless chase.
My mindset? So what if I de-pip, not like there is a reason to pip short of higher and potentially more toxic play on either side, so I'll definitely try them eventually. Also love how varied they are cosmetically, awesome character design outside of the powers shortcomings!

You are correct that "fun" and "wincon" can go hand in hand but both are completely separate entities.
While winning the match isn't the most important thing (unless you are playing with a truly competitive mindset, and there is nothing wrong with that) it is still the intended goal of the match. Fun is simply a byproduct of the overall experience and your attitude towards it.
I don't play Scratch Mirror Myers with the intention of getting a 4k or getting a "pip" but rather to scare people. If I managed to scare everyone and they all escaped then sure I "won" my personal goal but I still lost the match.
I feel the same when I go into a game with a spookin' time mentality. For me the game has it's set rules but I feel this game has a set of subjective win/lose conditions. Depends on the person. From what I've read a lot of people really seem torn on what qualifies as a win or loss. Maybe with this new lore coming up they can make something more concrete?
Either way I think the "Entity displeased/pleased is as accurate as I need it to be as a killer. As a survivor, from a lore perspective, I feel I'll always lose regardless. In a way as killer too. It's never ending, live or die, you come back for a new game every single time. So I might as well make the most every game!
Though.. I definitely feel the killer gets the better end of the stick lore wise. Gets to keep going 'till the end of days!

No, I have extraordinary fun with legion win or lose. However, Any game or hobby will get boring so remember to switch stuff up to avoid that!
Legion are the only characters I've never played, as I don't own them, but they looks fun as hell. I would have to disagree on the hobby thing though, I've never tired of mine as a musician and as far as I can tell, if you truly enjoy something it will never bore you. Looking for a new inspiration though? Absolutely!

Change lightning effects on Doctor from blue to glowing orange, change Wraith uncloak/cloak from orange to brighter orange, change trapper trap pickup to leak orange fluid and shine orange when they trap a survivor, change Spirits haunting exit to have an orange fluid outline, change Huntress hatchets tracer effects (the lines behind a soaring hatchet) from grey to glowing orange, etc... I know I'm Probably talking out of my ass here, but color changes like this seem like small potatoes to me in comparison to the effort they put into the full cosmetics. Is it wrong that I yearn for them to go just 1 step further for these cosmetics and give them that little extra oomph in value?
Yeah, I'm all for a cool effect on abilities as well. Can imagine how cool they would be, maybe make them their own cosmetic?

He was the killer who got me through my noob days. I would run around the map lost and not find anybody before i picked him up. Now I dont need the training wheels i feel he provides to some. But it never gets old.
Also can't hate that meaty slap he gives his weapon after a hit. Damn, now I'm wanting to do a few runs with him but I'd fail miserably. After spending so much time relying on my stealth I'd feel naked walking around like a failed bipedal Tesla monster. Love his cosmetics too.
