    I consider it irrational tho.

There doesn't exist a reason why you would hate her so much that is unique for her.

No matter what you say is bad about her, I can find a killer than is exactly same in that aspect.

She is way more manageable for survivors compare to first version in my opinion.

I don't really consider her a threat when we play against her. Simply because I wouldn't allow anyone in my group DC regularly.

If you don't have an issue with her stealth, there is not much she has going on.

Why are SM mains so desperate to not be hated? Serious question I never see nurse or blight mains begging people to like that or to claim they are not that hard to play vs? It's always a SM main who create theses threads basically shilling that every killer under the moon is worse then SM it's actually pretty funny

  • Literally every post mentions hookocides like that some how is a excuse and not a glaring issue to how the community feels about SM. The question isn't if she's OP or not but clearly no one wants a match with her that's more a reason for change then anything regardless of how rare it is to play vs SM me and many others are just not going to bother

  • Your claim of it not being comparable to 3 genning is wrong. That simple claim destroys your entire post. Survivors running killers into dead zones isn't a new concept by any means good killers realize that players do this so other players can work on gens in the area your currently patrolling. Your your job as killers to break chases or prioritize targets when end game gets close.

It's understandable why you would want respawning hooks it would make playing killer easier to justify this fact you made a essay to explain why it should be easier for killers is wild

Personally I don't think the perk needs any change, but it is undeniably selfish. This is ultimately a team game, hiding your location is still a way to shift the killer's attention to someone else.

Part of the reason why SoloQ is a disaster is the lack of team play and camaraderie, not understanding what is best for the team instead of personal benefit, even if that means that you are the only one sacrificed in the end.

    "Ultimately a team game"

I don't think this is a true as you think it is... Just at a cursory glance there is many systems and choices the developers have made that really disagree with this sentiment if I boot up OW or any other team game for example no matter my KDR we win and lose as a team. Here we only win as survivors with a escape and that happens on a individual basis.

And we don't share points in any capacity making things like unhooking a total free for all in low skill solo Q games because even after a single match you realize you need to fight for progression on your blood web with other survivors.

The game rewards the soloist mind set your "teammate" is some one you want to help just until the point it's not benefiting you like risking getting hatch or when exit gates are open.

Stopping another player from being tunneled is even tainted by self motivation as losing that punching bag can lower your chances of escape.

I think if behavior wants people to think this is a team game we need communication of some sort in solo Q we should know the perks of our team by looking at in game start menu and we should share point generation as while would some one with a full chase build be rewarded more for running the killer focusing on unhooks, not be getting objective points as with out them objectives wouldn't be getting done or vice versa all of that reeks of a game that is ultimately a 1v1v1v1 vs 1 with shared goals

  • I mean it's mentioned already but Knight is just a worse SM in every way. I would rather play a knight game over a SM game any day. But if I'm honest I'd rather not play vs either but at least a super slow moving knight that can be heard from a mile away is much more welcome the the haste boosted undectable instant drone dropping broken status giving SM and I didn't even mention free tracking and basekit game wide slow down from needing to crouch for drones

  • @Xernoton said:

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the sweat is strong in this game and many people will not stop just because it's an event.

Tunneling, much like camping or the survivor equivalent of gen rushing is not really toxic but it's a way to play the game in a more efficient and ultimately more win oriented manner. There is not a whole lot you can do to avoid it but some things that can help with a tunneling killer are:

    • Playing with friends and coordinating unhooks and chases. If someone else comes for a bodyblock or you are unhooked while the killer is far away, that will make it a lot harder for them to successfully tunnel you out.
    • Perks like DS and OTR. Yes, it sucks having to run specific perks pretty much every game but it's still better than being tunneled out early.
    • Enduring this unfortunate situation and using the extra attention as a way to practice chases and make it harder for killers to tunnel you in the future.

Either way, I wish you some more enjoyable matches soon.

I wish gen rushing was a actual real thing outside SWF. The simple fact is that it's a boogie man created by killers. Having 4 people working on gens isn't gen rushing and I doubt you come across builds with tool box hyperfocus deadline and no mither often or any other limited gen speed perks. Especially with weaver franklins being really powerful right now. The issue is behavior has allowed a system where getting it to 3v1 q ASAP is the optimal way to win. Killing some one out and being on two gens left is way easier game state to win then 4 at 2 any day.

  • Funny I wonder how much money they have spent in the games life time paying some one to follow up on camping/tunneling/slugging reports. My advice is that number is clearly to small and because they ask for it send feed back support tickets in. Make sure they don't mention any info in the title if there is one with 100s coming in weekly it would beg the question if fixing the game becomes worth the cost of reviewing tickets/reports and if the argument is well they were paying that individual any ways and it just slows the process of proper tickets and reports that makes them look even worse as a company

  • Literally definition of skill issue. I 2hook every survivor before going for the kill and get 4k 7/10 games easily. I literally only use crows and scratch marks for finding as I listen to audio books while playing Dbd. Really you just need good eye sight and the ability to follow characters in the dark to play this game well. You would be surprised how many killers walk right past survivors while they are just crouching next to a hook in the open..

  • @drsoontm said:

If you can't laugh it off, you'll have trouble.

    These tactics are completely fine.

The only tactic that's considered wrong is to block somebody "forever".

Sandbagging another survivor is usually clumsiness. If it's clearly on purpose it's reportable (with video).

See this guy has got it in one. It's not serious if your playing survivor and the team or killer isn't playing in a fair or fun away just find a hook and move on. There are more fish in the sea and your time and fun shouldn't be absent or wasted from a video game your not enjoying.

  • @HexHuntressThighs said:

Imagine having a permanent 24 meter killer instinct placed on you at all times. SWFs are incredibly strong for that reason, me and my friends aren’t that great considering 3 of them are almost brand new and I only have a few hundred hours on survivor but we constantly win whenever we choose to. Unless of course it’s Nurse, Blight, Plague or Wesker.

The killer has essentially no element of surprise at all because me and the others constantly call out their almost exact locations and what direction they are heading. Easily letting a teammate across the map know the killer is going for them so they can hide behind a wall and not be found.

Not to mention coordinating all our perks and calling out when and where we are going down and so on. I guarantee if Nurse and Blight didn’t exist, survivors could easily get a 1,000 plus escape streak. I can have my friends bring the best tool box in the game with double charges all running BTL, SW, SB and Scav or Resil and we can win pretty much anytime we want. S Tier killers permitting and item counts permitting. But it’s just not very fun.

Tl; Dr: SWFs are OP because of the insane info and coordination capabilities, and could win more often if they played super sweaty

It just means your in low MMR and most likely have good game sense from playing killer a lot. Climbing into high MMR has survivors can take hundreds of not thousands of hours. You either are exaggerating or over embellishing your knowledge of where the killer is especially considering some maps just don't have the view distance you imply you have on a regular basis. Even comp teams that do call out and do what your saying get found and die when vs players of their skill. Which brings me to the claim your just not placed properly in your MMR as survivor as you most likely only play the role when in a swf

  • I mean Dbd isn't really a team game to begin with.

    Your earn blood points alone

    Your MMR increases individually

    You die alone.

    You win and lose individually

If this was a team game there would be reasons out side selfish ones to heal, unhook, work on gens together as the only reason to do those is for points. It's why waiting for hatch is appealing, why dropping every pallet in first chase or while people fight for unhooks they are selfishly greeding points for them selfs it's a bad system but it's by design. It's why sole survivor left behind distortion and other selfish perks exist this isn't a team game. Misinformed survivors and ignorant killers propagate this idea but it's completely false as behavior made it like this for a reason and ignoring that is just forcing your view of the game on others

  • Like am I missing something hear? No one loses a game from distortion.. in fact it's a perk designed as a trap like self care. The killer can see the auras of 3-2 people instead of 4 meaning they have a easier time tunneling and applying pressure to the few instead of the many... This perk is like giving the killer a extra perk slot as the killer now "knows" a member of the other team is going to be useless at BEST and actively hindering the team at worse (see above )

I’m not creating anything. If you actually read my post you’d see I said I’m not advocating for not bringing offerings but I’m also not gonna pretend like I don’t understand why people take issue with being tunneled out of a match where they brought an offerings either.

Also maybe killers should get over their entitlement of thinking that people owe them their BP offerings. If they want to bring it they can and if they don’t, get over it.

It is definitely suspect that killer consistently earned the most BP while having the easier role. And also gains all the BP bonuses that survivors bring.

  • Giving people soap boxes big enough to reach thousands of people unfortunately doesn't increase the quality of the claims they make. Distortion is fine complaining about your wall hacks being removed and saying people who run Windows is The most hypocritical thing I've ever seen especially when Killers have the capability of applying blindness way more I'm going to survivor have the opportunity to block Aura reading. Hmm am

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I feel like we get a thread like this every event.

Both sides play sweaty. Killers tunnel. Survivors stick to Generators like a fly on a glue-trap. It's just the nature of the game. Even if there was not an event active, youd still see it.

This is just false survivors during BP events are rewarded more for doing more then just being a gen jockey as if your incentive is BP getting your repair maxed and only that is wasting your time and cakes and event. As killer you literally just max out tunneling and killing people ASAP. Maybe survivors should be able to get all 4 categories just playing a match like killer does

  • Like in the start of his video he explains why distortion is fine... As a distortion player you need to get the killers attention at a certain point of the game or risk losing by giving the killer only 3 options to choose from. He also mentions how distortion will force killers into less healthy perks choices and I'm wracking my brain on a worse build the aura reading as it's completely counter intuitive to the point of the game to run around with wall hacks 24/7. The true problem with the perk is that killers progress in MMR to quickly and get their using perks that make the game to easy and with out them or techniques such as tunneling proxy camping and others they literally just can't compete and have no easy way to drop their MMR to better build a foundation for killer.

Mean while a survivor can take hundreds of thousand hours to get to the same bracket due to how the game calculates a "win" for individual survivors

  • Like you make a huge detailed post and you commands are basically useless in 80% of matches...

Like "work on gens" "unhook now" "find totem"

Would be infinity more useful in your average solo Q game as knowing when the killer is camping or slugging is way more useful then any of your examples

  • So many people mention the bad. While not thinking of the good. The game desperately needs to make solo Q and SWF even. Meaning showing perks and basic quick chat commands like work on gens or unhook now or healing

how are you supposed to balance a game when you have two completely different games inside each other. No matter the bad the good will out weight it for future balance alone.

Not to mention they could just had a dodging limit of 3 per hour. Honestly that should be in game already as killers dodge Swf constantly which only extend que times and widen MMR searches which punish weaker killers by giving them a 4 man who are way above them in skill level

  • I mean when you lack the skill resources and knowledge to make a game work in a competitive way then it's deemed as a party game. I think the definition behavior is using is that the game breaks down when examined to closely like most party games you can cheese mini games or find that luck is more a factor then skills all things Dbd share with normal party games.

This game takes basically zero skill to play either side while knowledge can be used to basically cheat.

  • I mean it's clear as day to me he charges up magic missile and is undodgeable

  • Well the issue is most killers have inflated their MMR by breezing through earlier games back using tactics like camping/tunneling to remove that as a easy reliable strategy would see many killers quit or complain the game is unfair as they never created a good foundation on how to play before getting into high MMR. They need tunneling because with out it they will lose every game.

  • Well considering being slugged and bled out isn't against the rules. It's also not against the rules to not help a dying player

'Teaming with the opposite side to gain an advantage'

Would probably fall under that clause considering they slug and bleed people out if they don't play along. Plus this is a question for an official stance on it. Really wish people would read posts fully.

You post on a public forum and don't expect the public to comment? Put a support ticket in if you wanted a awnser from support?

  • That sounds epic and don't see how it would be against TOS it's not using game altering code or program.

  • @ad19970 said:

Nah if something is not quite balanced it needs to be balanced out. Simple as that. As Pulsar said, if you buy something to gain a competitive advantage, you shouldn't be surprised if it gets nerfed somewhere down the road. And I doubt they overbuffed Vecna on purpose.

Vecna's Mage Hand clearly has barely any counterplay, so the nerf is definitely warranted.

This is missing the point of the argument the problem isn't people buying new content for a advantage and the having it removed. It's the intent of "making" new content have a advantage knowing as the seller you'll "fix" it down the road with out that info being given at purchase. It's a ompletely different issues

  • Windows is a terrible perk that just acts as wasting a perk slot as a killer you really should cheer that the other team is playing with 25% value of perks

  • You just hook some on and kick a gen bro... You don't need a essay about that... Like you don't need anything else other than to hook and kick. It's insanely easy to activate. You addeding extra personal conditions to it isn't fair for sake of argument

And some of those celebrations last what 20-30 seconds

Also there are penalties for overdoing it

If all 4 Survivors are at the gates when the gate is opened, sure go ahead and get it out of your system but remember that it's for 20-30 seconds not almost 2 minutes

If a Gate is opened and no one's near it oh well escape by yourself

Also us Killer mains do have to realize that Survivors lose sight of the exit gates after like 5 seconds of the last Gen is done

SO it's ok to Teabag at the exit gates for almost 2 minutes but not ok for Killers to let the Survivor(s) die on the ground

Do what you want? The games basis is freedom slug tunnel camp that's the game if that's how you want to.

But don't forget your the killer the "power" role if you want them to dance for 20 seconds that's your choice if you want them to dance for 2 mins I suppose do it up. When I play killer I nod and let them go for a few seconds and then chase them out. That's the power I have and always have as the killer I'll never have my power taken away win or lose

You don't have to like it but complaining whining being tiresome isn't going to change it. Being sore losers isn't going to make it go away. Just like the celebration when people get touch downs and win their sporting events people get excited here. It's sad many here dont understand basic sportsmanship. Your happiness is directly correlated to their losing/winning to be mad at how people express the excitement is in your words "peak" saltiness.

I personally don't even wait at the gates past finding out that everyone made it there safe but I'm not entitled to think my will should be forced on others like the people in this thread it's not my sand box I don't get to dictate how people play or celebrate and neither can you

They can cheer and dance all they want in the endgame chat or in a friend group, where Killer doesn't have to be present. If their celebration absolutely has to involve acting like a bunch of bullies to the Killer and rubbing it in, then it means they can't feel happy unless they make their opponent feel horrible, i.e. they can't feel happy without acting like complete human-shaped trash.

You realize most people are In solo Q and on systems that can't chat? Like I mentioned before it takes two to tango if your upset about your time chase them out? They also have a incentive to have you do that btw with added points for body blocking escaping chase and starting chase. The game its self rewards the behavior.

I'm sure you don't feel bad about getting the 4 kill or closing hatch or slugging at two or tunneling or anything else. It's just a shame the killer can only nod or spin for their dances which I see often and I respect the craft. Ghost face especially with his crouch dance is a fun one as well.

Simple fact is killers love making mountains out of mole hills as you waste time in fear of confronting challenger unless it's you who came out on top. I have no quarter for such fears it's a game your here for fun

    in Why...WHY? Comment by BbQz
  • As ChaosWam mentioned tunneling is just to beneficial and faster and more reliable at applying pressure then any other tactic buffing perks isn't the solution but I'm sure the idea of selling more pay walled perks is appealing to behavior the game needs drastic mechanical changes to stop tunneling and to make a more healthy game…

Ideally having hooks act like cages where they go underground and pop up far away would be a instant problem solve to tunneling but would do little to nothing to why killers come to the conclusion on why they need to tunnel. That is much trickier. Perhaps each killer has a unique repair time or number of gens to be completed. Perhaps a stacking debuff for each first hook on the team is given or a buff to the killer with each first hook. Something needs to be given to the killer for taking away such a powerful ability such as tunneling but ultimately everyone would be much happier no matter what that is

  • I run skull merchant lethal + knock out and mainly just slug for the win so mostly 8/10 of my games has leavers/give ups I have a blast though I just love the freedom this game gives love the theming of being a evil doer ruining people's time and games as they beg to be hooked

Most of the time it is being sore winners by waiting to teabag the Killer before rushing out the gate knowing the Killer can't stop them.

They won? They deserve to let you know in some capacity. They should be allowed time to cheer and dance together. They over came a challenge and are happy good for them. This is a PVP game and by nature a winner and losers will exist every match to ask the other team to not be happy and to celebrate is to steal the point of competition. I get in our current society it's frowned upon to be happy and celebrate success but healthy minded people can sympathize with the winners and losers and don't complain about either

Killer might let you escape so maybe you have that 10% chance. I think some maps it's fine to quarantee kill for killer as some quarantee escape. Killer closed hatch already so he should have way better chance to get the kill.

Feeling aside it should be more consistent with other maps. Killer shouldn't have vision on both gates at a time.

they need to go back to the drawing board and completely redesign her.

Killswitch her like Nurse when she's being fixed and give us a Killer that we can all be happy with.

I can agree with this in current state she is the most unhealthy killer in the game. As a survivor you can't guarantee your lose was even your fault because the give up rate is so incredibly high that it puts every chase and hook into questions. And as the killer you have the same issue with every win at any point even a group of people who stayed your forced to think how seriously did the other side even try do to the hate and dislike the community has for this killer. I've been in threads here and seen people who are adamant about not giving up or DCing with the "stick it out" mentality but regardless your play style is gonna suffer unless your completely motivated and excited to play

And when it comes to SM almost no one is in that boat let alone 4 in one game

  • @jesterkind said:

The issue I have with this kind of outlook on Skull Merchant is that, objectively, her power got way more interactive with her rework.

There's a lot of interaction, between dodging the drone beams + learning the intricacies of how they work while you're in chase and hacking drones to keep them out of commission for later, not to mention the tension that comes with unpredictable stealth that the killer might actually bother to use because it isn't awful like the previous version was.

Dodging beams really is the main part, though. There's mechanical back-and-forth to add another layer to the chase, there, with clear and defined rules that you and the killer are both trying to leverage. I can absolutely buy not liking versing her, everyone's entitled to their own dislikes there (and I even have a few myself that I know others find fun), but this idea that her power isn't interactive is just… not true.

Also as an aside, she doesn't get free injuries. If an outcome relies on survivors making massive mistakes, and therefore can't be relied on, it's not free.

Being a Poorly disguised SM main aside I just don't agree with much you said at all in this post. Deactivating drones is boring as you need to crouch walk all the way to a drone and press some prompts that isn't engaging and just wastes time. Even more so when they over lap a gen you need to complete as every SM plays for three gen since it's still a very strong playstyle.

Running to a tile just to get a drone dropped on it and you need to hold W and hope a team mate doesn't give her haste mid chase isn't exactly the back and forth I want from a killer holding W is the worse way to run from a killer from both perspectives and SM basically is built on forcing that.

The hindered haste tracking undectable it's so unfocused and just feels all over the place honestly I'd be happy if they just removed her from the game.. give people who have her 9k iridescent shards and call it a day refund any cosmetics. Because all your gonna get is people rushing to hooks to get out as fast as possible that's the 1# strategy in my opinion to completing a SM match my time is just to valuable to not be having fun in a video game

  • lol imagine that high MMR nurse queing with 2-3-4 swf checked off. They are gonna be waiting a long long time

The funny part about this is that the longer you spend in que the less likely you are to get a fair match and lobby high skill level lobby dodgers are kicking SWFs to really easy matches with less skilled killers who get stomped and blame it on some unfair advantages that most of the time don't exist. While it's impossible to argue SWF isn't beneficial it isn't some sealteam 6 where map location call outs. It's normally friends playing after work shooting the #########

I talked about it before, kept being told it wasn't going to be an issue.

From my own testing, it won't work well in SoloQ with uncoordinated teams, but even 1 save can result in 1-2 gens popping before another down if survivors are doing their tasks. So as I guessed, it's a SWF buff.

Prepare to drop your fun builds to counter it.

"Testing" you realize a wiggle free isn't even a escape it's a 10-20 second delay of your capture tool boxes even with the buff are far cry from the effectiveness of a flash light. Period.

Your wasting gen speed (charges) on a hook your wasting repair time just to result in the killer dropping and chasing you instead now your in chase one is down and a third is most likely pulling away from objective to help the downed person all to basically turn the match into a Scooby Doo style chase as the whole team is buzzing around the hook as the killer switches from chasing one survivor to the next to protect their current investment (the downed person)

This is a "trap" update to get people off of gens why do you sabo isn't meta right now? It's just to much of hindrance on your whole team as it's just taking multiple people off the objective.

  • Personally I think the update is a "trap" most people don't sabo since it was a terrible ROI as you would eat a hit to get it off and most times not even get the save as the killer just drops the person.. honestly removing the killers ability to drop people would do more for sabos usefulness then any of theses updates. But people running around to sabo hooks are people not working on gens. As now you have two people not working on gens for a extended time soon to be 3 when one breaks off to helped the slugged player as the saboteur is being chased…

Like this is a buff for killers if anything as it can totally halt gen progression especially in solo Q when you get a bunch of hero types

I've seen significantly fewer DCs in Chaos Shuffle compared to regular games. Specifically; zero. No DCs in over 2 weeks.

Dc penalties have been disabled in the past, usually when there's some kind of server issue . Every time this happens, the game goes to #########. Someone DCs virtually every game and it becomes unplayable.

We don't need to theorise, it's been done, we know what happens.

No DC penalty = significantly worse game.

    There is nothing to debate.

*Games having server issues so they remove penalty

OMG why did they remove the penalty. This is not a good sample to pull DC frequency from it.

The fact it's already happening is why it needs more restrictions. You can legitimately stop people. Heavier DC penalties and the inability to remove yourself will drop the DC and removal rates massively as it will waste significantly more amounts of their time if they want to do it. DBD is not a casual/party game.

We want to de incentivize ruining the game for other people. If someone thinks they need to DC or remove themselves that often then DBD probably isn't the game for them.

This is just false this is a casual/party game as the developers intent.. you can see it everywhere with whacky balance removal of skill expression every patch no ranked and more if you actually pay attention.

Also why would anyone DC? This is just silly find a hook and die on it. Any time I'm not having fun this what me and others do. You would be thankful for us DCing atleast you would have a team lol.

It's also funny when I see some one imply people should stop playing a game they paid for this isnt your sand box some times you have to play by others rules.

  • Cool a "the thing that scared me 100 times isn't scary anymore" thread theses are classics

  • I mean the recently had to nerf bots lol since they were too good. So DC is some times a blessing lol. But I'm in favor of removing the penalty the game is fun but has a bunch of problems ranging from tech issues to to much player freedom to waste and ruin people's games.

Reasons honestly not important as each man can make his own and I'll respect that decision. But no one should want a player who doesn't want to be there on their team simple as that a stacking punishment is going to keep that person there to worsen your experience you can't stop that disagreement with it doesn't change it punishing early death won't fix it as they will just accidentally explode gens or get caught quickly. And while people love to talk about how sand bagging is against the rules good luck proving you just were not in the wrong place at the wrong time if the person has atleast 2 brain cells to rub together.

See I have an issue with the last part of that take, people don't ever want to admit when they're wrong or what they could've done different in certain scenarios, sometimes choices you make can seem like they're right while in reality a different decision at a crucial point can make all the difference in the world, the survivor skill does matter in these situations and sometimes people just need to admit they lost because the other team was better and just give them their props, it doesn't mean you're bad everyone has bad games but it's how you handle it that matters most because you're defeating yourself by making the assumption "there's nothing I could've done" when sure there is something but does the ego allow you to accept it? Nope people can't handle it because they think they're the #1 Blight NA east server and all that bullcrap people spew

I agree with this the biggest problem I see in my friend group (alot of them play Dbd but only started this year)

Is that killer progresses through MMR to quick in my opinion. A below average player using decent perks and popular strategies can blow through wins back to back to back in the beginning and while you played for a week or two you now getting people who have been saying for years and in teams when it comes to survivors. It's just way more of a struggle to progress through MMR ranks as a survivor as you only get progress from escaping with most of the time 4 random teams mates. And almost always a Dud player as MMR like to tag one newb with higher skilled players to balance things for killers it seems could be wrong on that last part but definitely feels that way.

So a "I did a perfect game" just means your not even experienced enough to see missed opportunities as I assure you even competitive players can watch a match and point to things they could have done differently

How exactly does a system that encourages people to either play out their matches (or take a time penalty for disrupting the game for 4 other people) ruin the game?

They are circumvented? Don't want to play? Die. All you did is ruining other people's games trust me the desperate need to "punish" the first hook deather ultimate result is ruining the people who's stays time simple as. Ask your self if you didn't get a penalty would you start leaving? If the answer is no then trust me this isn't going to be any more of a problem then it currently is just now your not effected your welcome

  • Eh I think instead of regression/slowdown perks each killer should have a unique match setting when you load up maybe trapper by default needs 110 second gens to do his thing. Maybe Freddy to. Maybe nurse needs 80 seconds gens. It's weird that each killer has completely different game play style but everything else remains static it lesses the ability of the devs to make unique killers as they may be to strong or to weak for this current system 90 second gens.

sfor example gen speed on SM should just be 5 seconds so survivors won't leave
