• Imo wraith is already slightly better than GF. I really like them both, but they are indeed not very strong at all. GF's reveal mechanic is completely a** and has to be fixed asap. I remember matches I could reveal him in an open field without actually seeing him O.o Also most of his add ons are useless. It is also hard to stalk smart survivors and get use of his one shot ability.

So I don't exactly think it's an unpopular opinion that Haddonfield is one of the most unbalanced maps in the entire game. But why is it that so many feel this way? To answer your question, I wanted to take an in-depth look at what makes this map so broken,

Lack of information.

What I mean by this is "the lack of information the killer has during the trial". At the start of the match, the killer has no idea where any of the survivors could have spawned. On other maps, the killer can most of time calculate and use their intuition to locate the survivors. On Haddonfield it's a complete guessing game. This already puts the killer at a big disadvantage. Guess wrong and you'll be starting the trial defending four or three gens.

This lack of information isn't helped by the fact that most of the generators have line of sight blockers or are positioned inside of houses. This means the killer can't check their progress from a distance, and has to spend extra time getting close to them.

Loops

This is arguably the worst part about the entire map. Haddonfield's many houses are littered with god-windows. These windows can force the killer to vault them until they are blocked by The Entity, or obtain bloodlust. Most of these house even have more than one god-window, which makes them even worse. There isn't really a whole lot to say about this issue, other than the fact that it makes this map extremely unfair.

Perhaps this is a personal opinion, but I don't think the pallets on Haddonfield are that problematic. Sure, most of them are safe, but I feel like they are spread out enough where it's not that bad. They only become a problem when paired with the aforementioned god-windows and "Haddonfield fences".

"THE HOUSE OF PAIN"

These words are enough to strike fear across the hearts of all killer mains. Haddonfield's "House Of Pain" is debatably one of the worst loops in the entire game. It is so utterly bad that most killers give up defending it's generator entirely and drop chase instantly when a survivor runs to it. If ran by a competent survivor, you will lose the game if you chase them here. It simply has too many good windows, and is accentuated by a good pallet.

"HADDONFIELD FENCES"

This term was coined because of Haddonfield's broken fence and hedge generation. These extremely long fences and hedges are a nightmare to navigate around and often can block getting to generators if you are travelling around the backside of houses. Not mention survivors can run around these fences wasting large amounts of the killers time with no mindgames or effort involved. You are simply forced to watch the survivor run over and over around these fences until bloodlust helps you catch back up to them. Some of these fences can even spawn windows with them as well, which only adds to their lack of counterplay and boring gameplay, depending on how they spawn.

PERSONAL NOTE

This doesn't have anything to do with the maps gameplay, but as an avid Halloween fan, the Haddonfield in Dead By Daylight doesn't feel like the Haddonfield Michael first appeared in all the way back in 1978. Dbd Haddonfield feels like it takes place on a warm summers evening, instead of a cold, dark, and foggy Halloween Night.

If you're curious what I'm talking about, take a look at Myers's trailer. Doesn't Haddonfield look so much better there then it did in-game? The houses shining like beacons in the background, thick fog filling the streets, uncomfortable silence blanketing the entire map, a dark and dreary atmosphere. This is what Haddonfield should look like.

FINAL WORDS

If you actually read this entire wall of text, then Ma'am/Sir/Whatever Else, I both aplaude and thank you. If you guys want me to analyze any other maps, perks, killer powers, or anything else let me know! This was surprisingly fun to write.

As some final parting words, ######### this map and any survivors who send me to it. I hope when you sleep at night, both sides of your pillow are warm.

I totally agree with u! U've analyzed the issues of this map perfectly. I wished the devs would take a look at it. NTW I fear they wont take notice of it or change this map in future, cuz it is only 1 single map.... idk. Would be nice if u would analyze some other problematic maps and make a guide about :)

• I have a good match if i can kill at least 2 survivors in a "normal" match. Sometimes I perform very well as killer and get 8 hooks but no kill, cuz Im playing too "fair". This isnt really satisfying :( And I dont like these texas chainsaw massacres with 4k in 2 min., cuz the survivors are literally suiciding themselves Oo As solo survivor I dont care so much about winning. I just wanna hav some good chases, that´s all :)

I get it. But until I get a notice or something from devs I think I’ll just stick to this method of dealing with toxic survivors. I’m not great at the killer and honestly I don’t think I will be. I can’t be like the twitch streamers who instantly take down all the toxic survivors. I’m just not that skilled and I don’t think i ever will be. I just have to deal with them my way and if the devs ask why I do the corner play, I will just say “it’s a strategy “ lol

As I said, I dont judge u and I totally understand u for doing it :) Popular streamers are a really, really bad example for the strength of a killer and for the balancing in general. You cant´t compare yourself with those people playing DBD 24/7, especially not, if u hav a "normal" job and a family. Unfortunately a lot of survivors point on those big streamers and tell u how bad u are, cuz u cannot do 50 4ks in a row with an perkless clown on haddonfield.

• Yes, it is obvious. Unfortunately the most people won't agree. It makes no sense to blame people for using certain strategies (e.g. gen rush, camping...) If u dont like it, u should blame the devs or switch to antoher game.

• Tbh SWF is not the problem of DBD. It is the hardcore gen rush and toxic behaviour of certain people, which make killers refusing to play the game.

All I want is a little respect. I see it like a sports game. Refs and such call out and penalize unsportsmanlike conduct and since the devs don’t want to ref and make sure we have a nice and clean game then you’re forcing me to be the ref in a sense.

Me too, bro, but in pvp game community like DBD it is hard to find respect. Here are too many bad educated people with the emotional maturity of a toddler. And in the internet they all have big balls, cuz u barely can punish them for offending u.

• @KiwiCoattails said:

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2017650#Comment_2017650

Well just be careful as you never know the pettiness of the people you’re playing against. I don’t go AFK, but when somebody desperately wants me to chase them, I just ignore them as they normally continue to follow me around and I’m completely fine with them not doing generators whilst I down their teammates. 😂

Yeah, I think this is the best strategy. Bully squads often suck big nuts cuz they just wanna hav u a bad time and refuse to do gens. I dont like to play against them, too. NTL I try to get'em all :3 But I don't judge anyone for waiting in a corner :) It is actually sad that so many people still behaves like big a**holes despite the lack of killers we have...

• And dont forget to use M1 :'D

I think they shouldnt change the requirements for adept. Just 4king was too easy and no challenge. And 2pipping with survivor is still harder, cuz u need good teammates, a bad killer and some luck.

• Imagine there was a time when everyone could dc to deny u a kill (without dc penalty). That was hard :D

Try always to get 12 hooks at rank 1. For example kill the first two survivors with 6 hooks. After that go for the third one and make sure, that he is not dead on hook. Wait for the unhook and go for the other one. Repeat it unless they are both dead on hook.

If u play trapper or 1shot killers like Myers, Billy and Plague u should spend some extra time in chasing the survivors. It is actually ridiculous, but dont play them too efficiently.

U need some experience and luck to do it at rank 1, but it is not impossible ;)

I have great internet connection as you can see and I play with a wired connection but I always have very high pings (130+ms) and it’s all BHVR’s fault. And it’s not just me but everyone in my region (West Asia). For some reason BHVR thought it would be a good idea to have all the servers in Asia be located in the East. Asia is a huge continent, instead of having a server in West Asia and East Asia like the US has US West and US East servers they decided on East Asia only and have 0 servers in West Asia, not even 1 which is really all we need.

That’s why I sometimes get connected to East Asia servers and sometimes Europe, I play with people from Russia, France, Spain, US, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden. All over the world :)

This is weird. I really dont know why they shouldnt spend a server to west asia, cuz there are living more than enough people. I feel sorry for u :(

• If u are playing against people with a bad ping (+100ms) this problem will occur quite often. Im not sure if it is caused only by the last patch. Could be also be a problem of dedicated servers. I recently made a post about it:

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/227871/dedicated-servers-and-hit-validation#latest

• Survivors could literally gen rush every match if they like to. Now they are doing it cuz of the points. As long they are not interested in doing bones it is hard to prevent them from riding ur gens :D

• @gendoss said:

Yes you get punished for having good internet connection. What time of the day do you typically play? My games get really bad latency issues in the middle of the night but during the day it seems to be ok.

I usually play in the evenings between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Im from middle europe and I get often matched with people from Russia. Idk why, cuz there are actually enough people playing DBD in my country :/

• Ranks should be removed as long they are no indicator for skill.

• Clown's rework is a buff and nerf at the same time, so nothing really changed tbh.

Buff: 2 sec less reload time

Nerf: Good add ons are gone (e.g. cigar box, exhaustion)

And his yellow pee bottles are completely ass, sry.

He is still fun to play and I really like his music. Maybe he is a weak killer but u can perform well with hin if u like him.

Are people really THAT upset that the New UI and character movement went through? I’ve seen threads about people “leaving” the game because of it when we all know they’ll be back in 3 days. Like C’mon how old are we? Yeah, sure it’s not the best and people are allowed to have their personal opinions but to lash out at the devs who nerf the perks and add-ons you cry about and update the maps you want updated (both survivor and killer side), you sure are ungrateful. I don’t mind the HUD while others do mind it but be happy they’re willing to try new things.

I totally agree with u. I like the new movement animations and appreciate the small clown and wraith buff. Tbh I didnt wish a new HUD but here it is, so what? If people are not happy about it they should at least explain why.

• @bm33 said:

Only problem with Ghostface is how wonky his reveal mechanic is. I've stood behind him with 0 blocking my LOS while he stalks a teammate and I couldn't reveal him but then later I'll be behind a rock where only a corner of my screen is showing and I'll hear that I started revealing him when he walked by.

Exactly. This is why I consider him the weakest killer in the game. I dont like the Hit n Run strategy with double recovery speed add ons, but 99ing doesnt work for me :/

• I get it that lot of people dont like Friedrich Krüger, but he is by far not OP. He is viable at red ranks, but there are a lot of killers which are better than him imo (e.g. Oni, Billy, Nurse). He is easier to control compared to other killers, but u cant play him braindead. If he was that OP, u would see much more Freds @rank 1. I face him only in 1 of 10 matches. You have to be careful with these kill rates... A lot of people are disconnecting or suiciding on first hook against Fredderico, cuz they are "bored". I guess that u see a lot of Freddys in low and middle ranks, thats why so many people dislike poor Fred :( Tbh I miss the old Fritz, too, even if he was much weaker. I dont know if another number nerf would help. Maybe he gets the Billy and Nurse treatment :/

I'm not sure how you got the idea that I'm complaining about not being able to tunnel someone who unhooked themselves 5 seconds after they got hooked, because nobody is getting tunneled in that situation, just a survivor being able to get away for free.

You don't have to be hiding in a locker, just don't be stupid and play a little safe at the beginning and just immediately rush the hook when they catch someone.

Unhooking yourself means another survivor doesn't need to stop working on a gen and rescue you; you even mentioned this yourself.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1926099#Comment_1926099

I'm pretty sure unhooking a survivor counts as progressing the game to me, so why should self unhooks be treated differently?

This is exactly what tunneling means :D It doesnt matter if Dweet unhooks himself or gets unhooked by a greedy Meg ;) If u focus him after the unhook it is still tunneling :D

I mean it is ur opinion, dont get me wrong, but for the majority Deliverance isnt a big thing even in those synergy with DS + BT. If u dont wanna get stunned u can ignore the guy and go for the next survivor.

As a Killer I care more about Perks like DH and OoO (ab)used by experienced survivors :D Deliverance never made me loose a game :) Good survivors destroy me without Deliverance :D

• I play everyone except Hag and perform well with most them at rank 1. I always change my favourite killers. In the moment I play a lot Billy, Wraith, Myers, Doc, Gunslinger, Blight and the one and Oni :)

• @ExcelSword said:

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1926046#Comment_1926046

It ain't a weak perk at all. As long as you play safe at the beginning of the game, you can reliably trigger it as long as you aren't stupid. But if you wanna be stupid just throw BT on and only Leatherface can really stop you from getting Deliverance activated.

As u said u have to play safe... that means playing sneaky... wasting time... Well, at the start of a match u hide urself instead of doing a gen instantly. Otherwise the killer could find and hunt u. Then u have to get an safe unhook, even if the hooked guy is on the other side of the map next to another teammate and u hav to leave ur gen. So uve got activated Deliverance - congratulations. Now there two possibilities:

1. The killer hooks u before the last gen is activated. So u unhook urself. ---> perk slot and time wasted, cuz another guy could have saved u

2. You reached it to the EGC without getting hooked, what rareley happens to average survivors -----> Perk slot and time also wasted. Why? Maybe u could have escaped without getting hooked. Even if u get hooked there are still 1-3 teammates who can save u with BT.

Back to the situation u described. All in all u are complaining about not being able to tunnel a guy down, who unhooked himself :)

And no, Im not a survivor main, just being experienced at both roles. I never thought, that Deliverance + BT + DS could be a problem.

• Why should deliverance be changed? It is still a very weak perk. Play 100 matches in a row with Deliverance and DS and tell me how often u escaped thanks to this... Im sure you'll be disappointed

• @Iosefka said:

Please change the numbers, make it like 240 seconds

I think stunning the killer for 240 sec would be too much.

• @Shirokinukatsukami said:

It's not the killer it's the player. A killer with solid fundamentals playing Wraith is harder to beat than a hotshot using Spirit but has no idea what he's doing.

Exactly. You can even perform well with Mr Puddles <3 Spirit and Freddy are NOT OP. People dont realize that their add ons already have been nerfed. Winning against weak survivors doesnt make a killer strong.

• Hi there, it is not DS, which shuttles "bad" survivors to rank 1. Good survivors give weak survivors a boost, even in Solo Q. As long they are doing gens and playing enough matches theyll always reach rank 1. That is it.

• Tbh there are a lot of other things that should be adressed for the game's healthy instead of nerfing Perks or game mechanics into the ground:

• MMR (tryhard vs tryhard, casual gamers vs casual gamers, newbies vs newbies)
• Map Balancing (I dont understand why there have to be killer- and survivor-sided maps Oo, it should be always fair for both sides)
• SWF - Solo Q balancing

Believe me, there wont be a Undying + DH Meta, cuz once survivors get confronted with it too often, theyll start to use maps and small game more often.

Back to the topic:

After Undying will has been nerfed, more and more people will complain about:

• Corrupt Intervention
• Noed
• Ruin
• Clowns rework

Wanna bet? ;>

• @tomas11403 said:

Once players get to a certain level, you realize that certain killers are much weaker than you initially thought. Specifically this includes stealth killers, and killers who have no power to help them in chase (different from an m1 killer, but they do overlap). Stealth is simply not an incredibly effective tactic for a killer, as players have perks, as well as just general awareness which allow them to essentially negate the stealth. As for the type of killer I was talking about, think about the difference between a killers like, say, Doc and Wraith. While they are both m1 killers, Doc has an m2 ability which will help him in chase, whereas Wraith does not (his ms boost after uncloaking is only useful at unsafe pallets which you would get a hit at anyways). These killers like Wraith, Legion, Myers, and Ghostface are often very good at getting first hits and against average players that's usually enough to get a down, as most players aren't very good, even at rank 1. However, when you go up against genuinely good survivors who can loop well, you will find that getting a first hit really just isn't enough, and these players can use the fact that you have no power in chase and waste a ton of your time. Sure, Ghostface can expose you, and he can hide his red stain, but as I said before he still needs to hit you to get that insta-down, and good survivors can play around not having a red light. My point is that he's really weak in chase, and really weak in map control (low mobility), overall making him very weak.

As for perks, I would say the #1 option is Sloppy Butcher, as keeping people injured can be useful. After that, any gen regression does well, as well as any chase perks.

Tips:

You can T-Bag to bait out a Dead Hard

Make Sure that if you are stalking, do so at an angle if possible, as you will stalk 2x faster

Try to hide 75% of your body when stalking, this will make it nearly impossible to snap you out of it

Don't over commit to strong players/loops, like I said before, GF is very weak in chase

Stalking during animations is useful, as the player will be still for a short period. Unhooks are great for this, you can get an almost guaranteed exposed state on the rescuer.

Popping Night Shroud while in chase can be effective given that it removes your red light, but it can still be played around so again, don't over commit.

Thank u a lot for your answer, I totally agree with u!

• @JohnShark said:

Was once a ghostface main but here is my take. Play ghostface as more of a hit and run style, dont commit to chases for to long, use grass to help hide yourself, recovery add-ons are a must, remember crouching is a thing and can help hide your detection box more, ALWAYS lean to stalk. And what are the perks your currently running?(apologies if my paragraph was all over the place)

Yeah I always lean to stalk. Hit and Run I will try out, thx :3

• @druggedpug69 said:

How often do you tbag? As a ghostface, it is extremely important to always be tbagging. Not doing so shows a lack of confidence and allows the survivors to smell fear. If the survivors become aware that you're fearful, well let's just say that the ghost in ghostface will become much more apparent.

Ps. Use the recovery add-ons, They're really good. Also don't stalk when it's unnecessary, it just wastes time and allows the survivors to gain distance. If you're having problems with being exposed then they're are add-ons that decrease the detection range and there's one that increases how long it takes to be revealed. (I think)

Nooo I usually dont teabag and never will do :D Yeah, maybe I should try out these detection range decreasing addons :/

• First of all thx u all a lot for your answers and advices <3<3<3 You guys encourage me to continue playing with GF :) No one could convince me that GF is NOT the weakest killer in DBD but it doesnt matter. Ill take the challenge :D Ive played DBD more than 4k hours but im still not a 24/7 godlike DBD streamer who 4k's 95% of his matches. And even noob stomping bad survivors in the red ranks doesnt mean the killer is good... And tbh I actually dont care about rank 1 and 4k'ing every match. I just wanna hav fun and a chance to get 1-2 kills in a match. My personal conclusion?

Hit and Run with recovery add ons... yeah, I agree with u. It´s probably the best thing u can do against good and smart survivors. Tbh I dont like this play style, but I think it is the best way to perform well. I will try it out. Im already used to do it with Wraith XD

• I think that are small buffes to trapper and wraith. Im absolutely fine with it. They shouldnt be buffed too much. If u wanna balance the game u should do it in small steps.

• I also would like to see some AddOn and perk reworks on both sides :D

• Yeah, Billy isnt that strong anymore, but I LOVE his roar - His roar is why Im still playing him^^ And I really miss to play against him :'( Happy new year btw <3

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/216467/kill-all-4-survivors-and-dont-score-30k-trash-killer

Ummm... no. For the record a perfect score for Killer is 32K (before anything that provides bonuses like Party Streamers, Perks, Cake, etc.) To earn that Score you have to do a lot more than kill the four Survivors. And for the record, your statement is boorish and wrong. Let me clue you in on a few things:

1. Camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tactics and have been given the DEV thumbs up many times.
2. Calling people "trash" simply because you don't have the skills to play this game is kind of pathetic.
3. I've camped now and then in my time and did score 32K.
4. I've also not camped and maxed out hooks and NOT scored 32K.
5. All your post demonstrated is how little you know about this game.

Stop trying to blame other people for your personal failures. Fun is what you make of it, i.e. I have fun even in the games I lose. So grow up a bit, show some dignity, and move forward. All of us where beginners once, and all of us went through what you are going through now. The sooner you accept responsibility for your own outcomes, the sooner you will start to improve.

Best answer. Thumbs up :)

So your advice for when all three teammates stop playing and wait for someone else to finish the gen is to do gens or be chased? That's exactly what happens and I die. Then if I take to the time to spectate, the killer gets a very slow and boring 4k because no one is playing anymore. But yeah I agree Kindred is a good perk for solo survivors. Doesn't help my main problem though and that's that most of my teammates in most of my games will not play after a certain point.

I know this advice is not satisfying but yes, it is still better than doing nothing imo. Even if there is no chance to finish the gens, cuz the killer catches u up, u get at least some blood points and can finally start a new match, while the other two guys are urban evading around the map and take the killer hostage for hours :'D

• I lov Mr Bing Bong, he is the first killer I 'mained' in DBD. Im still playing him a lot and yes, he is not the strongest killer in DBD and very add on dependant. BUT I dont wanna a major buff to him tbh. His add ons are totally fine and I dont wanna get them touched. If the Devs buff him too much (like true invisibility) too many players will start to main Mr Bing Bong and we will see him in 4/5 matches... as it was after Fred´s rework (now Fred is in a good balanced spot, but Forever Fred was too much). I dont wanna that happen to Mr B. A slight buff like 5% more basekit speed while cloaked would be ok as long his max speed with double windstorm (I believe 160%) wouldnt be changed.

• Hey dude, Im playing survivor 90% solo and only 10% with my best friend in duo SWF. Ive got 2k hours in playing survivor and the same time for killer. That means I feel u and know these problems about bad random mates :3 Ive a survival rate of maybe 50% average, but I dont care about it tbh. I try always to have a good game and I always get to rank 1 every season. Most of my matches I do 2-3 gens, cuz I cant rely on my random mates. I really dont wanna complain, but the quality of random mates has decreased since u got resetted to rank 5 and not 10 and since survivors has to do rift quests like "do 100 totems and 50 safe unhooks in a trial etc." ^^

First of all I would suggest to use kindred since it has become an absolutely must have perk for solo survivor. It´s like BBQ&Chili and increases the chance to get rescued by your teammates. And it decreases the chance that 0 people or 3 people are coming to u on the same time, while insidious bubba is waiting for them XD

If the survivors are walking around like a decapitated chicken or just doing nothing useful, there's not much you can do about it. Try always to give ur best. Do gens or try to get better at wasting the killer's time.

Well good news, Demogorgon was confirmed to be the next killer to be getting tweaks after Clown in the latest Q+A stream.

Yes, I am very excited about it <333

• Yeah, I agree with u guys! Bubba´s rework is also great. I mean he has become very powerful at chasing people down without being overpowered <3 I never played him a lot before the rework, but now he is quite fun :3

• I am excited to see what changes we will face in the future: D I hope all your dreams come true <3 Some love to demogorgon would be also nice <3

• The killers who scared me a lot at their release were Billy, Michael, Piggy, Demogorgon and now Twins. But unfortunately I get used to them after playing some hours :'D

• I totally forgot: The most thing I wish for the next year is the MMR system and some map balancing and fair pallet spawns for both roles <3

• Plz tell it someone else who could be proud of u instead of creating another useless thread in the DISCUSSION forum! What shall we discuss here? How small ur ego could be? Do u wanna the deathslinger get nerfed?

• Push. This bug still exists. Plz pay attention to it dear Devs :(

• Yes, he is! :D I had the same idea when I saw Victor yesterday ^^ I thought I was just too old and no one but me can remember the old XFiles anymore :'D

• Both are QoL Perks and u actually dont need'em, thats right. But they can spend u a lot of time, if u know how to use them. On Killers like Wraith Id always prefer Bamboozle as long u are not playing an anti-pallet-build. Killers like a wraith can literally do nothing to end up a chase quickly at a strong window loop. I usually take Bamboozle on my Wraith, Billy, Bubba. Even if dont need Bamboozle in every match on them, I still love it. As I said it is a QoL Perk.

Brutal Strenght is good on killers, who can force the survivors to drop the pallet quickly (for example Clown, Doctor, T3 Myers, GF). Maybe U should just try out which perk gives u the biggest advantage at your playstyle :)
