  • It should just be an escape for the person using it, instead of the entire team.

It doesn't matter what the game does there will be people on both sides that want to simply ruin the fun of others. Its only grown due to the generally toxic views this community has garnered. Toxic people are drawn by toxic people and the cycle will always exist.

Yeah, it's not like there are not tons of games where some teabagging survivor with a flashlight is clicking it incessantly at me right at the start of the game. I give them their 1 hook, 5k points, and send them on their way.

  • I had a game yesterday where I spawned in, patrolled 3 gens, found someone, M1'd into a bottle toss into another M1, almost a perfect down right in the first minute of the game.

Boom, gen done. They had 2 toolboxes, a BNP, and prove thyself.

Foolishly I played nice, left the hook, found someone else in under 20-30 seconds, and the chase didn't last more than 20-30 seconds either. Boom, second gen done.

So at that rate, of 1 gen per down, when these chases are lasting under ~30 seconds, and that isn't good enough to win. There is literally nothing else a killer can do except camp and tunnel.

  • So you can tell me it doesn't work because 1 out of 200 games you will find the super unaltrustic survivors who just sit on gens while everyone dies 1 by 1.

You teleport 40 meters at base. With no add-ons. Almost twice your terror radius and out of Make Your Choice range. You're supposed to play half-map with her, not try to be everywhere at once.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/928234#Comment_928234

I'm talking about good survivors. You can get away with camping with every killer given the right team of potatoes, and there are plenty of those in red ranks. Bad survivors AND killers alike can climb if they play enough hours in this game.

Lol. Camping works against any team, of any skill level. You watch a "mean" streamer like pro vengeance camp and tunnel and it works for HUNDREDS of games in a row.

I have to stay near my traps or they are useless. On small maps she has map pressure but what about large open maps like Swamp? Survivors literally run circles around you laughing cause there are barely any choke points and you can't move too far away from your traps.

You don't need to trap chokepoints, you need to trap pallet loops. A handful of traps can shut down an entire section of the map.

Once you have played this game long enough you will know all the pallet spawns, and those are exactly where the survivors are going to run to once you have them in a chase.

Trapping chokepoints is for when you already have someone on the hook, because then the survivors have to come to you.

If you're 1 hooking people with a killer that already has a bad early game, good survivors should have popped 4 gens by the time they die.

The absolute best way to play her is by exploiting Make Your Choice, or at least pressuring multiple people after saves. If you've trapped properly, they may get rid of the hook trap with a flashlight but the moment you get in a chase your traps will get triggered.

Pressuring only one, at max 2 people at a time is rarely a good idea with any killer. Good survivors will destroy you if you're playing like that.

No, because most survivors are not going to sit around doing gens while their team dies like that. The entire team typically funnels into the trapped area and feeds even more downs. I 1 hook people regularly at rank 1 with her.

  • @gantes said:

You don't have to camp with her. That's the absolute LAST thing you should be doing.

Your traps do that for you.

I'm a Hag main. You need make your choice and traps near the hook. The rescuer will NEED to crouch walk. You'll have plenty of time to return to the hook and get an easy down.

    She snowballs like crazy.

BBQ+Corrupt Intervention+STBFL+Make Your Choice is my build. Swap STBFL for Franklins in case of flashlights. She's absolutely terrifying. Her early game is weak but once you get momentum and establish dominance over a part of the map, the game is pretty much yours.

That's too liable for them to get an unhook with urban evasion or flashlights. If you are in the nearby area, there is no way for them to make a save without triggering the traps. Ideally you distance the traps so that they eat one, take a hit, and if they bomb the hook after that they are going down because of the trap at the hook as well.

I usually try to 1 hook the first person I get with hag, because she is the best character in the game to do so without having to facecamp like leatherface.

If you are going for pips maybe let them unhook but I go for 4ks, not pips.

  • I also think that with her blacked out cosmetic, she is probably the hardest killer in the game to see next to ghostface. You can be a pretty immersed hag with monitor or insidious and a mist offering.

    lul.PNG

  • Hag is terrifying. Her only true weakness is SWF on comms with flashlights really.

You will have to be willing to camp really, since that is where she is strongest. I usually do Ruin + Monitor + Sloppy + Agitation on her.

Monitor turns hag into a stealth killer-lite, letting you get an easy M1 at generators most of the time. Sloppy is super nice because it encourages people to stay injured, making them more vulnerable to stepping on a trap and getting instant downed by it.

Agitation is super nasty on her because you can bring the survivor to a corner hook or the basement more easily, where it's going to cost the survivors a lot to rescue them; if they even can.

The initial down on her is probably the hardest part, don't chase people into areas where you don't have traps. That's a good way to lose, instead find some generators and set up shop.

Ideally you set an area up, find a nearby gen and get the quick M1 with monitor and abuse, and then chase them into your trapped area where they will inevitably step on one.

  • Survivors will whine about anything, literally anything, when you beat them. Play enough killer and you learn to tune it out. That's why it's not worth playing nice either, because even when you go out of your way to play by the survivors rulebook you will still get BM'd.

  • Lol. If someone screws up the hook tech then you have a slug right on top of your hook, which is GG depending on how many generators are left. I would welcome people to try it my games.

It was a bit more than every 30 seconds, not 60. Even worse.

I did think it was a lot shorter; but when I was looking back at the wiki it said it was only half speed while running so I wasn't 100% sure. I just remember it being really, really damn overpowered at a time when the maps had 2x the pallets and they were all vacuum pallets.

  • @Horror_Gaming said:

If your still being chased by the killer after a little over a minute and he refuses to give up to put pressure elsewhere. Then you deserve the second exhaustion. No. You Earned it

It was such a broken combo back in the day. Sprint burst + vigil, getting a burst every ~60 seconds and you could basically hold W in chase and the killer was never going to catch up if you had the slightest clue how to loop.

  • Personally, id love to be able to gamble bloodpoints on a match outcome. Maybe keep the limits low so it's not abusable, but say you could go double-or-nothing on 5-15k bloodpoints gamble on any given match.

They could honestly skip the system and just delete Haddonfield, Ormund, Fractured Cowshed, Thompson House, and Sheltered Woods and have the exact same effect.

I don't even think haddo is that bad since the BL nerf. If nobody is using BL (and why would they anymore?). The main road is pretty damn unsafe, and the houses are not safe without BL. So there's a few jungle gyms, handful of safe pallets, and that's about it.

  • I would not bother with deerstalker unless you are playing a very slug heavy killer, like infectious fright hillbilly / oni.

Not sure why people are running whispers over monitor and abuse on spirit though. I don't think she needs help tracking with a 16m terror radius that lets you ambush people at gens almost as good as a stealth killer.

  • If the survivors want to waste their teams time sitting under the hook like that while nobody is doing gens, i'd welcome it as a killer honestly. These poor killers just don't know how to punish disrespectful play like that.

People don't often complain about addons like Iridescent Button or Redhead Pinky Finger because even though both of those addons offer a similar power boost compared to iridescent hatchet they are on weaker Killers that need that sort of power.

I'd argue clown bottles are much harder to land than iri heads, and ultimately; even with that add-on he's no more powerful than stock billy.

survivors are subject to their teammates, killers will get to rank 1 just by playing. i dont know how to use smaller words or if you would like me to google translate to your native language ill be happy to do so, as you are missing the obvious.

but you think contorted logic makes it otherwise - it doesnt.

Survivors are not subject to their team as long as the hatch mechanic exists. The game is specifically marketed as one where you can play selfish and ignore your team. Anyways you are clearly a mad rank 15 survivor or something and it's not worth arguing with you, you can't comprehend high level play and the problems that exist there.

  • Herp derp my team gave the oni two M1's now he can 1 shot me around almost every tile in the game and there's nothing I can do about it.

They nerfed that? ONI IS DEAD NOW

  • Honestly his ability was BS, it needed a nerf. Good oni's were pulling off some really ludicrous curves with it that had no counterplay except sitting in a locker.

i do just fine. sounds like you are mad that something isnt just given to you.

75% killer win rate. rank 1 - 4 killers have a 75% chance of pipping. how is that not a gimmie to rank 1? unless you are garbage and complain its not "balanced" because you expect it to be higher.

I would wager that your average rank 1 killer is going to be a far more competent player than your average rank 1 survivor, even if you transfer them over to the survivor side. As a killer, you either learn how to deal with everything the survivors throw at you, or you lose. As a survivor, you can not see the killer the entire game and still win just fine.

I am sorry you are horrible and don't see how to abuse the game. Or maybe not, because it's the potatoes like you that get farmed for that 75% win rate.

  • @dooces said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/922521#Comment_922521

you think they were skewed by 25% somehow? that they cherry picked the worst case scenerio?

survivors are subject to their teammates, so however bad they might be, however much they dc, that effects all other survivors in the game. however inaccurate you claim, or anyone claims them to be, they're representative, and they reveal the general balance of the game. if you think statistics works in a way where a slightly different metric would reveal the inverse, you are sadly mistaken.

Looks like someone doesn't know what an infinite loop is. Good. The game would be much worse if most survivors knew how to use them.

  • @SoulSever said:

This game has always favoured survivors and this is still the case, just search for Marth88's experiments.

Whether the killer wins is not determined by how good the killer is, it is determined by how many mistakes survivors make.

Just take into consideration that a chase will last 40-60 seconds if not more, and before the chase even begins it usually will take 10-30 seconds to find a survivor, that would be 50-90 seconds. A generator (without accounting for great skillchecks or toolboxes, Prove Thyself, etc) takes only 80 seconds to complete and they can be repaired simultaneously. This means that by the end of your first chase, if the survivors are efficient, you will be hearing 2-3 generators be completed, and even if they are not repaired by then you will probably hear their completion as you walk up to them, it is why every killer uses Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel or Corrupt Intervention and slowdown perks.

And then there are the things that make chases last even longer, pallets within 10 metres of each other, overpowered loops (Most of the main buildings, the entirety of Haddonfield, and connected tiles) , large maps in which generators are repaired faster than you walk in between them, exhaustion perks for free distance and probably something else I forgot to list.

Conclusion: This game is not killer sided.

I almost can't play nice at red ranks and win, at least not without playing someone like spirit.

I can get into a game as ghostface, walk to a gen, stalk someone to exposed, get into a tiny 20~ second chase, down them, and 2 gens have popped. How is it even possible to win the game doing the chases one at a time? I am not sure it is. There are simply too many safe pallets on the maps.

The most infuriating thing in this game is when I go out of my way to play nice, and still get BM'd in the endgame chat. Hey, the meg got downed at 5 gens and went into the basement. But I still let her out without contest. Still hook everyone, get robbed of a 4k by a 4% into DS at the exit gate "NOOB KILLER EASY GAME LOL"

That's why I don't care about survivors fun anymore.

  • No, it's pretty much the norm. I would guess maybe 1/3 games a survivor DC's the first time they go down, handing me a free 3-4k. Or, from there, literally every survivor DCs and then I depip.

They need to up the punishment imo. If you can't handle losing, don't play the game. It screws over the other survivors way too much. At least if they have the decency to kill themselves on hook I get my perk procs and BBQ stack.

If people actually believed rank meant nothing, we would have kept the bug showing people's ranks in lobbies for survivors, because people wouldn't have kept dodging, or wouldn't be demanding for it back so they can dodge.

Actions speak louder than words. People will say rank doesn't matter, but when push comes to shove, they rather play with higher ranks on their team because again, low rank survivors generally don't play very well, and higher ranked survivors generally at least have common knowledge.

For example, I a rank 5 survivor, got pushed down into a rank 15~17 game, where every one of my teammates kept going down from the mend timer. Despite the fact that they could stop it from going down by just sprinting.

The Legion was rank 3 btw. I was solo. We all died. Horribly.

Think that didn't help push the kill rates up a bit or do you think a Legion would be able to 4k so easily if it had been red rank survivors who at least had a generally good grasp of basic game mechanics?

Most people who say rank means nothing are implying the difference between really good 3-4k hour survivors and your typical red rank survivor. Or they are killers who are annoyed at the 4k depips that can happen.

Yes, there is a difference between a rank 1 and a rank 20. But there is also a massive difference between a 3-4k hour survivor and a fresh rank 1 survivor. But they are both rank 1 and according to the game should be equal skill.

i play killer a lot, queue times forbid me playing more. i win just by showing up. if you have a hard time playing killer, try not camping or tunneling.

i hope i used small enough words for apple, i can only assume english is his 2nd language or something.

Well you are probably a bad killer then. Red rank killers have a Q time of about 10 seconds. Rank 20 killers have a Q time of like 20 minutes.

Clearly I can see what level you are playing at.

  • Whiney survivor main spotted. There is 0 wait time as a killer. There is 10-15 minute wait time as a survivor. Want to know why? Because killer is much harder and more stressful to play. Next thread.

dont forget the swf, dont forget keys, dont forget everything you ######### about to give survivors that 25%.

at the point stats demonstrably prove you wrong you should have the humility to keep quiet.

The developers themselves said to not use the stats to argue game balance. Silly goon.

  • I think I got wrecked as billy a few times, eventually transitioning into a wraith main. I remember my first game was as billy on old badham and I got absolutely ruined. Quickly started playing toxic as I climbed the ranks, a result of the constant survivor bullying.

Tunneling, slugging, and camping were routine and I changed my name to "el camperino" because I thought that was hilarious after someone called me it.

  • The basement is supposed to be fing scary. Things like BT/DS make it so much less scary but as a survivor you should know not to be anywhere near the basement because that is where people go to die. I like that about this game.

Killers using the basement is a strategy and any competent survivor can instantly realize where the basement is during a match because there's typically only 2 places it can spawn on a map.

  • Hooking people in the basement = toxic. Lmao, survivors these days. Killers should just stand in the corner and let them escape.

  • Camp them to death, and spam M1 at the hook. If someone teabags me at 5 gens I laugh because they are getting facecamped and I know I can afford to do it.

  • Not operationally different from ghostface or wraith. You walk up to a clueless survivor at a gen and get your free M1. It would add nothing to the game.

  • @dooces said:

75 killer win rate. those who think its survivor sided are just the really bad killers who dont get wins handed to them. the others believe they're really good, just ######### about the 1 guy who gets away because survivors are op.

    75% says it all.

That is because the overwhelming majority of survivors are terrible and can't run a basic jungle gym loop to save their lives. You could literally 1v1 the majority of the killers in the game for the last 2-3 years. Only recently were survivors nerfed so this was no longer easily done.

Don't forget the hordes of babies who murder themselves on first hook, handing the killer a free 3k at a minimum.

  • I honestly don't pay attention enough when I play survivor. I just breeze to rank 1. You get the idea though.

The game that starts around 4 hours and 2 minutes in. That is what SWF brings you most of the time. That was me playing spirit.

I love how this streamer remarks "In all my years of playing I have never seen devour hope stacked that fast"

In reality, the game has never allowed a rank 1 spirit into games with a rank 13 survivor until recently.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

Well tbh when people talk about viable killers they mean the ones who can deal with swf with coms

Take that out and suddenly a lot more killers become viable

Honestly, in the last few weeks SWF on comms has been more beneficial than detrimental. It means a rank 1 survivor is bringing in some rank 15's with them most of the time, which means super easy devour / pop goes / STBFL / etc / procs. There's only a few full red rank survivor SWFs that I see and I know to bring in a mori against them by now.

  • Deathgarden the entire team could literally sit in a corner and then get out

  • They still have to complete 3-4 generators for keys to really get everyone out. And if I know there is a key in the game I can adjust my playstyle accordingly (aka camping everyone to death).

  • @CrowFoxy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/922079#Comment_922079

Ok and? This game is balanced EVEN worse. Deathgarden failed for different reasons, I personally believe.

It was just a lame repetitive game honestly. The fact you could do literally nothing and escape always irked me. Similar to DBD but at least in DBD the free escape is only for one person. And DBD is far more balanced in my opinion.

  • The forum was only completely filled to the brim with veteran complaints because of great game balance. Never fixed because the game literally died before anything was done.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/922050#Comment_922050

Actually the overall consensus on Deathgardens balance was great. That had nothing to do with why it failed.

LOL. Yeah the veteran's AOE instadown combo was totally balanced and skillful. Very hard to do.

  • I'm sorry, I didn't give horrible survivors a million second chances even though most of them are running full second chance builds. I am a horrible killer depip me game.

  • It's not only mori's, but killing everyone in a series of slugs (which the survivors let happen to themselves) will depip you as well.

A 4k depip is just omegalul, and is one of the reasons I literally don't care about the ranking system in this game

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/921861#Comment_921861

I'd also argue that's what every other successful game does in terms of balancing from the top down instead of the bottom up.

Even though the majority are bad, they can fix the problem for themselves by improving at the game. The solution is in their control. When you balance from the bottom up and you are playing at the top, you have no solution, you're just SoL. That's why I think it's better balancing from the top down.

Deathgarden was balanced from the top down and it was a massive flop. Casuals got absolutely slaughtered in a game balanced around a 5 man on comms.

True but I'm not expecting everyone to be a God at looping like Ulysses but I just hope people look at his mentality throughout his match where his actions is mostly in consideration for the whole team and being as pain in the neck as possible for the killer like where you get downed, what gen you do, where you loop, not dropping strong pallets and taking a hit instead, etc Can really hurt a killer that has no mobility in the long run Just common sense survivors should have.

Like seriously this is my match in red ranks just now and I have Kindred and this is what I get.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/330/XZ09OD6KY9BU.png

Three guys not doing anything bum rushing to save me on the basement despite me having Kindred and is fully aware someone is going for the save. Third guy was out of the camera view but he's at the left hiding behind a tree.

You don't have to be a Top survivor to realize that's such a dumb thing to do really but yet Red ranks still do this. Heck all my matches so far has everyone prematurely opening exit gates and screwing the last survivor getting chased over by the timer.

Red ranks mean literally nothing for survivor. You do 1 gen, save 1 person, and you have already safetied.

Meanwhile for red rank killer it's 4k or depip lmao. Or 4k and depip!

The game is survivor sided because good survivors are all "gods" at looping like Ulysses because it's honestly not that hard to loop safe pallets, and many maps are safe pallet galore. The good thing is that most survivors are too bad to take advantage of them.

  • I mindgame unsafe pallets but swing through safe pallets almost every time. I don't care at all about eating a stun, even if some survivors think that stunning the killing is "owning" them (it's not, escaping is) and will teabag for it.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 12
