  • Killer queues are always longer when a chapter drops, even more so when there's only a killer, and especially if that killer is said to be fresh, fun and strong to play.

Give it a couple weeks and things will go back to normal

  • I think the throw speed ramp up should be brought back at least to an extent.

Main event throw speed should be buffed or reverted if it's not currently bugged.

"potiential energy" is already in the game. bhvr gave you the tools to break a 3 gen. people prefer not to use it...

Yeah sure, survivors should run potential energy to counter 3gen, DS and OTR to counter tunneling, unbreakable to counter slugging. Why did we even nerf CoH and MFT when shattered hope and exhaustion perks + add-ons exist ? /s

  • I wouldn't celebrate too early lol

  • @Peanits said:

We touched upon this briefly in a dev update, but over time you'll be able to earn them from events, tomes, promotions, login rewards, an so on. Similar to charms, there will be plenty of opportunities to get some.

That's all very exciting, but is there any chance we'll get some "retroactively" ? Such as character portraits if we get them to prestige 10 or whatever, exclusive ones for legendary characters or things like that ?

I'd love just basic portraits of characters I main without having to wait for them to be featured in a tome / event if that makes sense

  • I think Onryo, Blight add-ons, STBFL, sloppy and UW will be nerfed and everything else will be a buff or a side step.

Also I guess the anti 3 gen thing will be OP in PTB and too weak live and Blight will still be one of the strongest killers.

And ngl I'm disappointed the only survivor perk mentioned is DS and it'll probably just revert the stun to 5 seconds.

  • I'm not sure why you're comparing phobias to a "bad message" ? BHVR removed some triggering stuff because people can't control having bad reactions to them. Removing smoking has nothing to do with this at all, it's still a +18 horror game that is not aimed at impersonable children who most definitely shouldn't play a game where people get brutally murdered. Also, Bill has been in the game since basically forever lol.

  • Would prestige being hidden work under "future design update" or I am stretching

You are either willingly avoiding what I'm talking about or you're failing to understand it.

Unless I severely misunderstood everything you're asking for a button to end the trial when gates are opened so killers don't have to watch survivors t-bag or wait out EGC, and I'm explaining how such a mechanic would be bad for multiple reasons on top of being not needed because either party can put an end to this silly stand-off very easily.

  • I'd say as a general rule you're probably not a very nice person if you have fun because it's at other people's expense. However "fun" is very subjective and it's probably impossible for everyone to have fun at nobody's expense.

For example: "bully squads", the expression is commonly used because killers often don't have fun them, but those people are literally just having fun with their friends, their goal isn't to ruin the killer's fun they just don't take it into account. Same goes for anyone who enjoys sweaty game and gets matched against casual players who won't have fun one bit.

On the other hand cheaters who hold players hostage for hours or even face-campers and killers who bleed you out are probably having fun because they're jerks and not because they think doing nothing but stare at a survivor dying or a streamer tabbing out is peak entertainment.

  • For the killers you kill with: as long as you keep playing like you usually do and lose (instead of starting to sweat to keep up) your MMR will drop until you're back under the soft-cap. In the mean time it'll be pretty painful but I don't there's a way around this (unless you just afk but that's not fun either).

For the killers you meme with: Unfortunately I don't think there's any way around this issue either other than starting killing the newbies. I suggest you keep memeing but don't spare all of them and you should go up in MMR pretty quickly.

  • Pressing the end trial button could cause only the killer to exit the trial and the survivors then can stay as long as they want.

Unless survivors suddenly gain the ability to chase, hit, down and hook eachother it would very much still result in a BP loss. Also, why would anyone want to stay in PvP game without an opponent ? If that was an option survivors would be free to give up and be replaced by bots, and killers having to go against 4 bots if everyone DCs wouldn't be an issue.

What you're suggesting isn't an anti-toxic option, it's an anti-EGC option, which is a whole part of the game on its own. I'll happily go against tbagging survivors if it means I can actually play a full game on the survivor side without being cut short because "oh well I probably wasn't going to win anyway".

And like everyone is telling you: just walk up to the survivors and voilà problem fixed. It's weird to complain about the "tug of war" that wastes both parties' time when both parties are doing it willingly. Survivors are wasting their own time to rub their win in the killer's face and the killer is wasting their own time by refusing to take the L and make them leave.

It's not like slugged survivors who are forced to wait out the timer or killers who were forced to wait for survivors to leave before the EGC was created.

There's no problem to fix when either side can very easily choose to not partake in tug of war and leave / make survs leave.

  • 2 perks over 6 years apart is not a pattern.

An example of a pattern that's getting old would be all your posts being us v them, crying about how the devs love survivors but hate killers and complaining about stuff that hasn't even happened yet ("watch these killer perks needed next I'm sick of this", "survivors are going to get something OP").

To decide if it's an issue, one should look into how many times do players refuse to partake in that toxic ritual that you call "survivors crouching".

You KNOW if this feature got implemented it would see use almost all the time.

It would rid the toxic bully crowd of an avenue of hazing, so I'm sure they'll fight tooth and nail against it.

It would rid the toxic bully crowd of an avenue of hazing

It's literally just people taunting you in a video game, and if you can't take it you're very welcome to wait out the EGC.

You KNOW if this feature got implemented it would see use almost all the time.

Of course it would, that's why it's not a good idea. It'd just be a way to deny survivors chase points, altruism points, challenges, event rewards, escape points...

Killers would be able to just open gates -> end game because they don't like that they're losing or literally any reason ever.

Yeah the perk got nerfed. It's useless now. (not useless... just very niche... almost useless)

There was also no need of a line of sight... just 36 meters away and, BAM, you got the info the killer looked your way

Absolutely, a perk that tells you when a killer is in LoS, aka you can most definitely see them, is certainly... A perk.

  • EGC used to not exist at all, which allowed survivors to take the game hostage. This is a non-issue now that it has been changed, and is nothing like the hatch stand-off.

No one is forcing you to wait the EGC out instead of literally just walking up to the survivors. A button to end the trial would just deny survivors points for no reason (other than saving your ego from seeing survivors crouching ig).

I'm pretty sure BHVR did that because people had been asking them to for years, personally.

A nerf yes absolutely, an over-nerf that hasn't been tuned down since ? not really no

  • Ruin was one of the perks that was a "meta shake up" and was over-nerfed solely so the pick rates would drop so BHVR could pat themselves on the back because the meta changed

I like this, but I would have each kill performed by a different killer in a different 'trial', with maybe the last two killers scoring 2 each. Or something along those lines.

So like, first trial, Trapper kills Dwight. Then Wraith kills Haddie. (Blight kills Observer, offscreen or not) Huntress kills Jake. Nurse kills Claudette, and Elodie. Then Blight kills Felix.

I'd also say you could swap Meg and Claudette, or even Jake and Felix, either way works fine though.

Yeah that'd be neat, I'd keep Felix killed by Blight because he found his lab in the lore (and Jake & huntress having a show down in the forest would be cool) but Meg & Claudette are definitely swappable

thats actually really helpful thank you so much, i will keep all this in mind in my matches against the dredge, how common is that brown addon? should i just assume all dredges run it?

I honestly have no idea how common the add-on is. Dredge has much better add-ons than this one so I don't think it's popular.

I personally use this one a lot because I hoard non-brown add-ons lol, but other than that Dredge also has other tracking add-ons (see survivor aura when they lock a locker, see survivors when using the last teleport token).

The more popular add-ons are the ones related to nightfall i believe, but if the killer often finds you quickly after you locked a locker it's very likely they're using a tracking add-on so you should be careful when and if you lock a locker.

  • Protagonists:

The OG4 as mains characters for sure, maybe Haddie, Elodie & Felix as side characters for their lore implications. Observer probably should make an appearance at some point.

    Antagonists:

Trapper as the killer we see in the first trial that introduces everything. Blight is the big bad guy as he is the entity's servant. Entity is omnipresent but not a character per say.

    What happens:

    • First kill: Dwight of course. First trial's victim
    • Second Kill: Haddie before she can help too much
    • Third kill: Observer, maybe he's already gone when protagonists find him
    • Jake, Claudette, Elodie and Felix die at some point (Felix is killed by Blight).
    • Final girl: Meg. Elodie is also last girl material but unfortunately she's not a main character..
  • When Dredge puts the remnant (shadow) down in a loop:

-> Hold W and go to the next loop

If you can't leave the loop or are in a dead zone

-> Bait the remnant: go towards it to force a teleport before turning back

If Dredge puts the remnant down to teleport mid-chase:

-> it's trying to cut you off, run somewhere you don't see lockers

-> If Dredge teleports go back the opposite direction

    During Nightfall:

-> Don't forget you're glowing, I get a bunch of hits / downs because survivors are poorly trying to hide

-> If you want to stealth make sure you're away from lockers because Dredge gets killer instinct, and make sure to hide behind obstacles that cover you 100% (a wall at the edge of the map for example)

    General tips:

    -> Don't hide in lockers

-> Don't try to lock a locker when Dredge is teleporting, it can grab you.

-> When two or more lockers are next to eachother, only lock one of them. Dredge teleports to the "locker group" in this case and will always go in the locker with a lock on it.

-> Dredge has a brown add-on that lets it know where locked lockers are, keep that in mind if it can easily find where you are if you lock lockers as you go.

In other words, there's no play I can make that will result in a successful unhook. The Oni can just charge in and instadown me as soon as he sees me going for the unhook. Sounds to me like that element of the anti-camp needs to be toned down at the very least.

I agree, the AFC mechanic is only useful against killers who forget it exists. Otherwise they can bypass it easily by going in and out of the zone (the timer slows down quickly enough that the survivor loses at least one extra hook stage before being able to self unhook).

On top of that survivors can't sneak in for a save because it stops the timer completely, and that's without mentioning that they don't have an indication of where the zone ends unless they're on comms so they can mess it up by accident.

  • Arguments are very rarely consistent around here (and we probably all do this to an extent tbh)

If it's about the other side perks are crutches, reward failure, should take skill to activate, are OP if they're popular.

If it's about the "good" side perks are supposed to be helpful, safety nets which is fine, bad or weak if they need conditions to activate, only popular because everything else is mid or to counter the other side's meta.

Anyways, I personally enjoy endgame builds and I somewhat understand the nerf but atp they should just stop haste from stacking or stop making new haste perks that will undoubtedly get nerfed.

  • The timer pauses when a survivor is around the hook, so running the killer around it is counterproductive.

  • I mean using a crosshair isn't bannable so why not making it available for everyone ? especially if it helps people with motion sickness

The information provided is used to prevents hits. Your argument is kinda like saying pre-nerf Object of Obsession was balanced since it only provided info.

OoO was nerfed because swfs could have one survivor running it and know where the killer is at all times, and even for solos free wall hacks was obviously pretty nice.

How does it compare to a perk that highlights stuff you can either see or remember / guess where they are ?

That's exactly the point. It shouldn't be a potent chase perk. It should be a PRE-chase perk that allows you to identify dead-zones, strong-zones BEFOREHAND and rewards you in proportion to how good your memory is, adding a skill component to the perk and disabling auto-pilot. This is why it is a fantastic rework.

Why would an aura reading perk need a "skill component" when by definition you get more value the better you already know how to play ?

  • Mobile version is ran by Netease, which is a much bigger company than BHVR I believe, so it's not up to BHVR what mobile gets. And honestly compared to the mobile version we're doing well in the microtransaction and "corporate greed" front.

Also this is possibly absolutely false but I personnally believe it's easier to add stuff to the mobile version because they didn't inherit the spaghetti code. I dream of getting DBD 2 where it's literally all the same stuff but the code is remade from scratch and optimized so the devs can spend more time working on cool stuff instead of having to fix everything that breaks everytime there's an update.

I do hope the positive reaction from the players will make BHVR consider adding new game modes to DBD more than they currently are.

  • Hawkins needs a bit of a makeover but turrets need a rework of their own. They're still not worth using at all because they're a pain to place and slow down the survivor too much.

Using huntress and trapper as examples is horrible. I posted directly above yours that killers like huntress are fine. It's more for killers like blight who can run across the entire map in general, or sprint, hit you, you drop down off of high ground, before you've even had a chance to move 5 ft they've already got their sprinting ability back and rushing you.

Movement is a huge factor in this game but that shouldn't be affected, just the cooldown timers for most killers that are able to spam it. All killers would still be unique the only difference is killers wouldn't be able to spam the same ability all game long and they would actually have to strategize to get kills.

This could also pave the way for survivors having to do more gens in general or even another task entirely to escape.

"And as a general rule I think power related changes should all be done in a case by case basis because they're all unique and at least somewhat different." - I agree with this statement and that's also what I would expect from the dev's as well but decreasing the availability of spamming abilities would possibly reduce the amount of fun but it can still work. Look at call of duty for example, OG MW2 had "noobtubes" for example that you could spam all the time, nowadays you're not able to spam stuff like that but the game is still thriving as a whole. I really think nothing can be certain without physically testing it first.

Honestly I didn't read your other replies lmao, but if you're not suggesting the change for all killers and just some then we're basically agreeing haha, I have nothing against the idea of changing the cooldown of killers who need it, I was just worried about this idea seemingly applying to all killers.

  • @MoNosEmpire said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3590659#Comment_3590659

You're right my apologies. What I mean by it is that killer abilities should have much more of a cooldown in general to warrant having to use their basic ability as their main attack rather than as an attack that's not used for 90% of the game.

I'm having a hard time picturing how that would work for many killers. Would that mean trapper can't trap for some time, huntress can't reload etc ? And more generally for killers that are slower, are they still slower when they can't use their power or would they become 4.6 ?

Even without talking about balance I don't think the idea of making all killers M1 most of the time would be any fun, as I said it would tone down their individuality. As a consequence it's possible it would actually bring them closer in terms of strength but I'd personally rather keep more diverse killers at the cost of a slightly better balance.

And as a general rule I think power related changes should all be done in a case by case basis because they're all unique and at least somewhat different.

I mean.. your post is merely speculation at this point. It's not been tried and tested so who knows until that actually happens in the PTB?

I made a post recently stating that killers should get Ruin as base kit because it gives so much more of a reason to do totems and not genrush as fast so believe me when I say I have this games best interest at heart.

It's difficult to not speculate when your suggestion is this vague. What does "be a luxury" means to you ?

Do you mean all cooldowns should be longer, doubled, all the same ? That killers should earn their power with some kind of new mechanic ? That their power grows stronger / weaker as the game progresses ?

What you're saying could mean a lot of different things, but if what you're suggesting is a significant change then I stand by my assumption that this would lessen killer individuality and render the role a lot more boring.

  • The perk doesn't make you "immediately understand how to run a tile". Newbies aren't suddenly god loopers with it, they still pre-drop or camp pallet first chance they get. And good players already know how to loop and are still as good without it.

Nerfing perks because they're popular is not a good thing, and if info perks (aura reading) was so strong killers probably wouldn't be complaining about blindness being the most useless status effect in the game all the time.

Finally, I'm fine with a perk countering dead zones when they shouldn't exist in the first place, and if they're "survivor made" dead zones (someone dropped all the pallets) nerfing WoO would only nerf solo queue.

  • No ? Killer powers already have cooldowns. Whether or not these cooldowns are too much or not is an other discussion and a case by case thing, but making them a "luxury" makes no sense.

The killer is alone against 4 survivors, just giving them a 5th perk (and from a limited pool at that) wouldn't cut it.

It would also make killers just a bunch of boring M1 killers with no individuality most of the time.

  • Honestly it feels like I always get the same maps anyway so it might as well be ones I like

Or another thought - just remove the MMR system and go back to the BP system.

If you walk through the exit gates is not an indicator if you are good or not.

What about the guy that ran the killer for all five gens but died? He's the reason why the exit gates could even be powered but he doesn't gain MMR because he died? What about the person that did all five gens but died while your team is doing totems, chests, sitting in a corner, or just going down repeatedly? Suddenly you don't deserve MMR because you died even though you are the reason why the exit gates are powered in the first place? What about people that do a combo of the two - running the killer and doing 3 gens but they get hooked once and die? Do they suddenly not deserve MMR?

MMR just rewards a braindead playstyle of people sitting in the corner, doing totems, doing portals, hiding in lockers until the exit gates are powered so they can walk out the door. I play as a solo survivor and I cannot tell you how many times I have been in a match and for 8+ minutes the icons on my teammates (showing where they are doing stuff) does not change at all, but they walk out the door. The BP system was better because only the people that actually did stuff (gens, ran the killer, saved people) would rank up and therefore the playstyle of sitting in a corner and doing nothing all game but walking out the doors would not make you rank up - you would have depip or safety'd at mid ranks or depipped at red.

TLDR: Your mmr system rewards a braindead playstyle and punishes the people interacting with the game.

BP gained mattering more than game outcome could be a good idea if the BP system was good, which isn't the case at least for survivors.

You can run killer the entire game and not even get 15K BPs, the less people get hooked / hit the less BPs there are for unhooking and healing available, and these are split between 4 people...

  • Spine chill used to be really good for vault builds, but the effect that made vaults faster was removed. On top of that it helped a lot against stealth killers or undetectable builds / perks.

Also, the number of perks to choose from wasn't nearly as big.

  • This can be annoying but if you're spending so much time looking for a gen without a survivor on it that your teammates sandbag you and you feel the need to have an exhaustion perk specifically for this it probably means you should just do the gen with your teammate(s).

Yes doing gens solo is more efficient but multiple survivors on one gen is still way more efficient than having one survivor run around the map to look for a gen to do alone.

If a survivor follows you as you leave the gen just take the L and stay on it, you'll waste a lot less time tbh. Personally the only times I insist on being alone is when I believe the killer has discordance, but otherwise it's just not worth it.

  • This would:

    • Be annoying if you want to do an adept
    • Be annoying if you want to do a tome challenge
    • Be annoying if you want to try a new perk
    • Be annoying if you want to play your usual build
    • Be annoying if you want to use no perks
    • Be a pain if you need some perks for accessibility (shadowborn, bloodhound)
    • Tell killers they're going against a swf which would make lobby shopping worse
    • Make players DC / give up when they don't like their build

    Also, questions about this:

If a killer goes up against a SWF that has no random perks on any character, they do not get random perks but get to choose their perks.

    • Does this apply to duos, trios, or only 4ppl swf ?
    • What's the point of forcing people to have random perks if killers get exceptions ?
    • If it's about "balance" why aren't solos allowed to pick their perks if the killer picks theirs ?
    • Wouldn't it be super easy for swfs to bypass the rule by having 3ppl pick their perks every game and rotate thanks to the "sync with friend" feature ?

I would absolutely love a random option but this isn't the way to do it. It should be a fun option and not something that forces people to run bad stuff half the time (especially not when perks cost money).

  • @Zenislev said:

that is not what this post is about. The post is about Reshade and Filters. The main cheating going onto mainly on survivor mains is that If you go into your RGB settings, You can make your Red color have massive red opacity. Why is this big deal?

Well, you see, everything related to tracking is red. If you change opacity color of Red into be stronger on your Monitor, It makes killer red glow stronger. This is terrible for m1 killers because... m1 killers all have red glow. If you can see red glow clearly, you gain wall-hacks towards killer. normally red glow opacity for dbd is faded out. you can see red glow but red glow is faint. With max red glow, you can see bright red which removes lots of mindgames.

Hens talks about this. it is huge problem especially for survivors at top-level that abuse "subtle-cheats" to gain an unfair advantage.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwd2LL63o64

Here's an example of what it looks like in the video.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OT5O3Z7V6UVH/image.png

you see. the red glow does not look normal. It is so red that you can see people across walls. Normally red glow is faded out on very ends. This is what it is like for survivor.

    ===

This is also a problem for killer because when survivors are injured, you have blood marks. With this Reshade filter, you can see blood on the floor so clearly that you don't need bloodhound as a perk. you get free base-kit bloodhound. It also makes scratchmark's impossible miss because they're also brighter due to red color.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WS5FE2GOKKDK/image.png

Stretch Res and Reshade red filters have been in the game for long time. both them were subtle cheats. they give you unfair advantage over your opponent. While the problem is bigger on survivor side, it does give unfair advantage for killer side in regards scratch mark tracking and bloodhound tracking which are suppose to be perks that you equip.

Yeah the discussion kinda stopped being about that when OP said "I personally think that if this is an accessibility issue just stick to single player games" and decided to argue that using filters to compensate for vision issues is still "gaining an advantage" and disabled people should just not play because it's "unfair" to them.

As for the point you're making I agree it's a problem but as I said in my first reply on this discussion I don't think BHVR can do much about this because monitors now have built in filters and options.

Hahaha I definitely went in on them. Honestly I need a Afrocentric character that looks like they supposed to be on a fashion runway or Vogue’s “Worlds Hottest” man or woman😂😂😂…

Also let me recur for anyone that reads this joke, because I been repeating the same statements in almost every reply due to some saying I’m trying to speak for everyone or attractiveness is opinionated(which I know)… I KNOW that who or what I believe to be “hot” is completely my personal opinion, and some people may agree with me, while others would disagree. I simply just wanted to state my ideas and opinions just as everyone else on forums does. That’s why in my statements I use words such as “I”, “my”, “I believe”, and and “in my opinion. This statement also doesn’t mean I’m not open to anyone opinions still lol, trust me I love discussions like these, so I’m always all ears.

You're fine lol no worries, regardless of how you or everyone else feels about the already existing characters you're still allowed to say you want more hotties lmao

I don't think you will get a free win just because one side is slightly stronger than the other side.

I never said I consider this a good thing or a bad thing... I just gave reasons for one or the other side. In the end I don't care about this at all, I mostly play solo q and the games are miserable anyways, be it because of teammates that have no clue what they are doing or because of the killer playing like it is a tournament, so all I care about is chases, if they get better, because the other side actually knows what they are doing instead of just proxy camping all game long I consider this a win, even if there is only the slight chance that some people will play nicer, because they can, most people don't play nice regardless of how easy or hard the game is.

If the gap was enough for someone to win while playing nice at high MMR most people would 100% be getting free wins because the large majority of people just don't play nice (just look at tunneling right now or the gen kick meta post "meta shake up").

And for people who do play nice they'd just need to put in a tiny bit of effort to ensure a win, while survivors would be struggling whether they want to win or not, which is obviously unfair.

I also personally don't care about the game outcome, but I think it'd still be very disheartening to go against killers who are always stronger than me.

Some would for sure, that's like the whole reason why some people start scrimming and doing 1v1 because they wanna get better, I'm not saying it will fix it all, but it is at least some motivation, so it was the question you asked beforehand.

I never thought of looping the killer as sweating in any form, sure the macro play will be a bit more stressfull, but isn't it normally so that killer is more stressfull than survivor regardless? So I don't think it is too rough.

Killer is more stressful by design because it's an asymmetrical game. Giving people free wins because they want to chill but still 4k is ridiculous. Don't pick the outnumbered role if you want to relax, or just don't expect to win.

    Ultimately the suggestion is:

Problem: If I want to chill I'm going to lose because my opponents are playing to win and if I want to win I have to put more effort in because my opponents have the same skill level.

Solution: Make me face weaker opponents so I can chill and win at the same time, but I promise I'll play nice :)

Consequence: The other side has to put the most effort in every single game. They're fighting an uphill battle so they can't ever play chill (especially not survivors who have a team dependent on them) and even if they play to win it's unlikely they will.

I genuinely don't understand how you can consider this being a good idea when it's clearly coming from someone who forgot the other side weren't bots and would also enjoy playing chill and/or winning for a hot second.

You asked how to make people play survivor... And I gave you a reason what might motivate people to play survivor... So it is kind of the question you asked.

People aren't going to play survivor to get better at the game knowing they'll always be matched against killers stronger than them anyways.

Survivors would have to sweat every game just to have a chance at winning so killers can have chill games without impacting their win rate. This idea is just not good at all.

  • Oh yeah the feature is absolutely useless unless the killer is stupid enough to breathe on your face. I've had many campers just going in and out of the zone so the bar doesn't fill all the way before you die, and if survivors try to save it pauses the bar so the killer can just proper facecamp.

However, it doesn't hurt to keep it even if it's only very rarely useful.

  • Three things:

    • Having more fun against worst players because you play nice is understandable but not applicable as a MMR rule because you can't make all killers play nice all the time.
    • Saying you're not getting good games anymore because you don't 4K every game so you should be matched against weaker players sounds very entitled, survivors aren't bots for you to stomp, even if you're playing nice.
    • Content creators facing opponents closer to their skill level is a very good thing because baby killers shouldn't think getting a 4K 19 times out of 20 games is the norm.
