Theyre saving their mate. Lets be honest: by logic it would be far more unreal to be not able to help in this situation at all.
Wrong.
I'm pretty sure a supernatural killer could drag someone away while you patting them on the back. Plus, it prevents BS like downing someone at the exit gates, only for a Survivor to completely overrule a Killer's actions, thus denying them the kill.
In no way should a Survivor healing a Survivor trump a Killer picking a Survivor up. Ever.
-
I personally think every boon totem should be single-use, exactly how Hex's work.
Why do Survivors get a better version of a Killer mechanic, in the first place? Just you wait; a later Boon will probably be 'Survivors can self-unhook while this Boon is active' or 'Survivors have to be hooked an extra 1/1/2 times before dying'.
-
Agreed. The Killer is supposed to be a threat; Survivors being able to out-prioritize his actions is stupid and diminishes that threat.

There's so many add-ons like this, especially on Twins, that are insulting to killer players because it's like whoever designed them doesn't even know how to play the killer. They focus on the complete wrong aspects of a killer's power. And any time the add-on does give a decent effect, its numbers are so tame, like it was designed with survivor safety in mind.
Of course all Killer perks & powers are designed with Survivors in mind; Survivors are the majority. Every Killer perk/power has to be average, maximum, so Survivors don't leave. Bonus if the perk/power actually is trash (Nemesis), because then Survivors can bully and feel better about themselves.
-
When I get lucky & find a Survivor within the first 30-ish seconds, down them inside a minute, and they proceed to kill themselves on first hook (Seriously; just remove the ability to kobe without perks), wait out the entire match, and badmouth me in end game chat.
No my fault that survivor sucks.
Oh! My favorite:
A 2-man who sold out the 2 solos (I did not realize it at the time). Then, when I caught one of them, he kobe-killed himself to give the hatch to his friend, who was camping it. Then started talking crap about how much I suck because I could not get the 4K.
Because it's a Killer's skill that determined hatch back then, what with Cheat With Friends + Voice Comms basically giving it to Survivors 99% of the time. 🤣
Or how about when you hook someone, turn around, and see the Survivors in a queue to unhook. Literally standing behind the Killer.
I chase one off, others go for the hook, so I turn back around, chase them off, and the first one goes back, so I turn back around again.
And, of course, that gets me called 'scrub camper'. Because apparently Killers are supposed to 12 hook every game. 🤦♂️

I would argue that camping(not tunneling) is against your objective as a killer. Tunneling, I get, though it's an unfortunate part of the game mechanics because a killer just gets to decide if someone gets to play the game or not. I try to get tunneled every game. I love running from the killer rather than holding m1 and pressing space every now and then. Camping however just makes the game boring for everyone and goes against the killer's objective. Again, I think tunneling is valid and just an unfortunate by product of the game mechanics, but camping is not. Other than that, I agree with you. Just that camping is not an objective for killers.
Depends on how you define camping, and that's the crux; I've hooked Survivors, turned, and seen 2 more Survivors hiding nearby. They stay near the hook and try to unhook while I'm 3 feet away, and their chases are around the hook instead of leading me away. Or 1 person tries to lead me away, but I saw Survivor #2 hiding nearby, and they keep tagging out; no matter who I chase, someone else is openly approaching the hook.
Guess what they called me at the end of the match? 'Camper'. Like, I'm supposed to let them unhook because they demand it? Am I supposed to chase #1 Survivor when I can see Survivor #2 near the hook? That's 3 Survivors not doing gens (Hooked and 2 overly-altruistic friends). Why should I leave the hook?
And THAT is what 99% of Survivors call 'camping', when it's really 'Survivors playing like trash'.

Well how does this make sense? No totems get done in solo Q so nothing would change. Also, what is gen rushing? You mean doing the literal only objective you have as a survivor?
TBF; 'gen rushing' is the Killer equivalent of 'camping/tunneling'. :P
It's either side complaining the other is doing their objective.

Don’t even start I just played a game against a face camping bubba. Guess what everyone says to do. “Do gens” we did and guess what happened. NOED. He hooked some by the gate. And then what? Blood warden. I run detectives hunch for noed but you don’t have time to do bones when someone is camping. “Laziness” yeah sure but camping someone at 5 gens isn’t lazy? So what is it? Do bones or do gens because can’t do both when someone is camping at the start. I play both sides I was red rank for both killer and survivor and I manage with demo so far. I don’t care about losing or winning but that was a horrible match.
Good for you? What do you want? A medal?
You can do both, because it gets done all the time.
Always amuses me when someone goes 'I play both sides, and Killers should totally get kicked in the balls because I don't like camping!'
99% of the time, the person saying it is a Survivor main trying to pretend he plays Killer so his suggestion sounds more valid.
NoED is fine. If you can't do bones and gens; the Killer clearly out-played you, camping or not. You don't get to decide what play should be punished or rewarded based on what you think is 'fair' or 'unfair'.

idk why are you guys so afraid of ttvs? Majority are small (viewer wise) streamers who are more
or less friendly. only one ttv ive met was salty (BM in game), even after stopping on stream and saying GG (console doesnt have end chat), he was salty again, that i am boosted mmr and emble wise and only reason i manage to kill them is as he had a half year break from dbd.
And no, I dont dodge any game. When I get stomped, I can see where I failed and how could I improve myself.
Rofl. I streamed DBD once. ONCE. I did not even have 'ttv' in my name. I had NOTHING that said I stream. Keep this in mind as I tell this story.
The match came down to me, and another person (Who had 'ttv' in his name). He was hooked, and the Billy was facecamping. I was injured, and sneaking around, seeing if I could find a way to save him.
I'm in the process of telling my viewers (My whopping 5, at the time) 'If I run in, since I'm injured; I WILL be downed before I can save him. Should I risk it? I could open a gate, since the Killer is camping'. When I suddenly get my chat spammed with 'Don't be a #########'. Utterly flooded.
This ttv took his hooked time to 1: Look up my name. 2: See if I'm streaming. And 3: Sick his entire viewer base on me.
According to them, since I had less viewers, I should trade so the 'better twitch player' can win. And they proceeded to verbally abuse me non-stop, even after the match ended.
The only funny part? The Killer was stream-sniping them and, upon seeing this utterly toxic behavior, decided to let me leave, and told the ttv player exactly what he did. Told him that, even if I had traded, he would have tunneled them & let me go. Told him the only reason he even face-camped him was because he was talking ######### about all his teammates on his stream. 🤣

You shouldn’t get noed from camping someone at the beginning that’s bs
You're right.
Because you can do this wacky thing called 'CLEANSE TOTEMS' while I am camping. Crazy, huh?
Survivors expecting the game to just hand them the win, at this point. No camping, no slugging, no tunneling. NoED needs changing so 'camping Killers' can't benefit...but it has to be something that nerfs NoED, so Survivors don't have to do bones. Because expecting them to stop licking Generators is too much!
Just. do. Bones. Stop sniveling that you can turn a perk off, but don't want too, then blaming the Killer for your lazyness. The end.

Remove the speed boost and make the Exposed status effect work in a manner that is consistent with the way that status effects are supposed to work (ie. inform the survivors that they are Exposed when the perk activates, not when somebody takes a hit).
No. This nerfs NoED into the dirt, as now Killers can't chase as well, and Survivors know not to save their friends before the Killer actually hits anyone.
Your idea is basically 'Make NoED worthless'.

We are talking about which effect is more powerful.
Instant downs plus mori's or healing.
And it's the healing, since it's the Killer who has to scrabble for every second of every match.
When a hit can take upwards of 2 minutes to happen, given the jungle gyms, pallets, and other BS, and be erased in a handful of seconds; the healing is stronger.
When the hit can take 2 minutes, and 3 gens can pop in 2 minutes, and the healing erases that hit in under 30 seconds; the healing is too strong.

Nothing actually changes regarding how NOED functions with this change, though? As soon as survivors know it's there, they either leave or they stick around to disable it. The only thing that changes is that the survivor you're on top of when it pops knows you have it and won't be quite as cocky, but that probably won't really make much of a difference now you've got a speed boost.
If you've already got someone downed, that means they almost certainly already know that NOED is there, and if you managed to get the down some other way they'll either just leave (which I don't think NOED should do anything about alone; you should have a proper endgame build to have more than a bit of an edge) or they'll stick around to go cleanse the totem, which means you have room to move.
Besides, "just leave" is the counter to NOED, it's why the perk is balanced. On its own, right now, it only gets you one, maybe two downs- it'll get the same here unless you're extraordinarily unlucky with where everyone is when the perk activates, which current NOED wouldn't really help you with either.
What changes is the chance to down someone.
How NoED works now: I hook someone, gens pop. Survivors are creeping around, trying to save their friend. I manage to find 1 or 2, while 1 opens gates. I can down 1; now they know NoED exists. I could be chasing a second, luck depending. That's maybe 1 or 2 more hooks. Plus, they may hunt for the totem, since they are not near the gates, and I could find them again.
How Your NoED Works: I hook someone, gens pop. Now they know NoED exists before I do anything, and head right for the exit gates. No one is coming to save their friend. They also don't totem hunt, because it's easier to just beeline for the gates. I get no more attempts to kill anyone, unless someone is being suicidal.
Your idea gives Survivors too much info, and removes the threat of NoED altogether. No. Survivors don't need to know NoED exists before the Killer hits someone. Ever.
-
@jesterkind said:
The perk's core design is absolutely fine, so I wouldn't be looking to change anything about that, but there are two things that I think should be changed regarding NOED.
1: It should be able to spawn over a boon if it needs to. This should also go for Plaything, too, but that's a separate thing. This wouldn't even be all that powerful- keen survivors will notice their blue aura snuffing out, it just feels more right thematically.
2: It should reveal itself to survivors as soon as it activates, not when someone's hit by it. The perk has plenty of counterplay at all stages of the match, but in its current state there's one person who doesn't have much of an opportunity to react to it, and that's not particularly fair.
1: Sure.
2: No. Hell no. There goes ANY altruistic plays when NoED activates. People by the exit gates, and NoED pops? Now they just leave. No more kills for me.
At least, when it stays hidden until I hit someone, I have that chance to down someone trying to save their friend. Your idea? Nope! Leave the friend, do not risk it, because I know it's there the second it become active. Now, the Killer literally gets 0 kills off of altruistic plays.
No. This is such a massive nerf. It removes the surprise aspect to tell Survivors 'I HAVE NOED! JUST LEAVE SO I CAN'T GET ANYMORE KILLS! THANK YOU!'
The only suggestion I once heard that was worse was someone stating NoED should have a designated totem at the start, so Survivors would not have to cleanse every totem.

Do the regress changes into a new perk or rework a bad one.
Not basekit.
I like this. It would make it something Survivors would have to worry about, and build around, but never know if it was going to happen or not. That way, they can't just plan for it every time.

Sure, they are all annoying and extremely unfun strategies to be on the receiving end of.
I understand why someone would be upset if they spend the entire match on the floor; or if the Killer decides that they and they alone need to die; or if the Bubster decides to plant himself in front of you for the whole match.
Unfortunately, there's no way to really curb these unfun strategies without punishing innocent players.
Agreed. I've been camped, slugged, and tunneled; I usually laugh it off. If the Killer wants me dead that badly, it means one of two things:
- I was doing something right; I should feel proud.
- They want to ruin my game. I should laugh.

To be fair, I'm actually not opposed to a slight regression myself. It would encourage teamwork, i.e. someone would have to stay behind to open the gate for optimal escape.
But killers' energies are better suited to making arguments for nerfs to CoH, buffs for weaker killers, and possibly even buffs to Hexes. The EGC is comparatively a non-issue to those, especially since the devs most likely wouldn't see EGC as a killer issue to begin with.
Fair but how often are weaker Killers buffed?
In all my years, the devs seem to jump on quickly over-nerfing Killers, then maybe, kind of, possibly, sometime in the next decade, buff one again. (Looking at you, Legion!)

I'm pretty sure camping, tunneling and slugging all exist.
They are legitimate strategies
Fair. But I always say they don't exist, just as I can't complain for a Survivor camping a jungle gym; it's just not something that exists to be complained about.
Saying they exist as strats gives salty Survivors a foothold to scream about them.

@Pulsar said:

Again, CoH isn't stronger than any Hex. That's just wrong.
The issue is that they can be re-applied infinitely.
CoH is broken. A 100% increase to healing. Plus a purple medkit with addons. I suck at math, so feel free to tell me how fast you'd heal your friends or yourself, since I'd get the numbers wrong.
Exponential plus perks means you can get yourself up in a handful of seconds, infinitely.
Shadow Step means the Killer literally can track Survivors or read auras inside it.
Every single boon totem is broken AF. The only 'balance' to them is that Survivors can't spread them out.
-
I dodge, because you know they are all on voice comms, all have D.Strike and Dead Hard, and will use every cheese strat.
And once you lose; they will insult you in endgame chat.
But the second you do anythign they consider 'camp', 'slug', or 'tunnel' (these don't exist, BTW); you know they are going to insult you in endgame chat.
It's always a sweatfest that ends with the SWF screeching in rage or screeching insults because Cheat With Friends + voice comms gave them the win.
-
@Pulsar said:

Circle of Healing's effect is not stronger than Devour Hope or NOED, sorry to burst that bubble.
CoH is too strong, so at least you got that part right, but your reasoning is wack.
My reasoning is fine; Why do Survivors get Totem effects stronger than any Hex, AND get to reapply them forever?
Imagine if Killers could re-ignite Hex totems; Survivors would screech onto the forums to cry about how OP that is. But if it's in their favor; it's a-ok!
-
@ThanksForDaily said:

Look at the bigger picture here. Not what it suit you.
They have to rework and balance the entire endgame collapse and killer's endgame perks. Too much work for nothing.
They would not have to rework anything, if the gates regressed by 5%. It's 2 seconds to prevent 'I win' no-fear scenarios. What else would have to be reworked?
Nothing.
@scenekiller said:
EGC is not a killer tool, it's simply a way to prevent infinite matches.
If you truly have a problem, bring No Way Out and/or Remember Me, or open a gate yourself.
Fair but gates should still regress to prevent 99ing. Absolutely nothing in this game is in the Killer's favor right now. Nothing. Even Hex's, once the domain of 'too strong (rofl) effects' have been punted into the trash by the absolute OP trash that is Boon Totems.
NOTHING in this game favors Killers anymore. Nothing.
Even Killer powers favor Survivors, and have for years. IE: Nemesis extends chases if he uses his tentacle instead of just punching.
Killers need /something/ or there won't be Killers to play with. I'm already convinced Ringu girl will follow the same pattern of every other Killer:
- Power looks awesome!
- Power plays awesome on PTB!
- Due to (insert BS speak here); we've nerfed the Killer into garbage after everyone bought her. Have fun bullying, Survivors.
-
Boons should not exist, period.
Why do Survivors get totem effects that are stronger than any Killer Hex, AND they can infinitely re-apply them?
The point of Hex's was that they were too strong to take effect all game. Then along comes Mr Boons and now Survivors get effects 100000x stronger than any hex, can overwrite hexes, and can reapply them if the Killer snuffs them. Because the Killer is totally not fighting for every second of the match in order to kill (sarcasm).
-
@ThanksForDaily said:
No, go open the gates yourself if you want.
Ah yes, because that will totally help me kill the Survivors, by giving them a way out.
The Killers need something balanced in their favor, given how OP boon totems are and how Survivor-biased this game is. And 99ing exit gates should not be allowed; It's yet another Survivor-favored mechanic that dodges EGC and lets Survivors save their friends with 0 risk.
-
@Hannacia said:
It's fine. Doesnt need a change. Survivors have proven with boons they have plenty of time to look for the bones.
Boons are so laughably OP that I'm convinced the Survivors are the real monsters and the garbage balance is a meta thing to make Killer mains terrified.
-
@Bwsted said:
Egc was not implemented to give you extra pressure.
You're fed up with 99'ing. Before egc, survivors simply opened with no consequence. 99'ing effectively can get them killed now.
Uhh...99ing ignores EGC.
The gates are not open, there is not EGC, they save their friends, lick the gate without losing speed, and exit.
So you're post is either completely wrong, or I'm not seeing what you're trying to say.
-
Boon totems should exist.
Why should Survivors get stronger totem effects than Killers, that they can infinitely re-apply (Killers can't), in a game where the Killer is supposed to be the power role?
Oh right; because this game is laughably Survivor-biased.
Killers don't even have the free time to snuff totems in the first place and, as it is, snuffing them is a waste of time because they can be re-lit. Oh yeah, but NOT snuffing them is giving Survivors broken, OP effects that the Killer can't ignore.
So broken.
-
NoED is fine.
