That's a very old spawn that's been around since before the map was reworked 💀
This is why I say a couple thousand hours in dbd doesn't make you a veteran lmfao

All things considered, even though I complain about some things, I have to admit that DBD is still super funzo and I usually have a good time whenever I queue up >:3
How about YOU?
Yes.
My main problem with dbd is the loss of the old days. I've made memories on this game that will last a lifetime, but the game that I made them in is just...gone. Dbd isn't anywhere near the same game anymore and it's sad.
However, I do still enjoy what the game has become. I find a lot of the complaints to be massively overblown, too.

Maybe that depends on what we think of as a new player. It's likely not uncommon for people with <1000 hours to be below the soft cap. And that's an odd quirk of this game I guess, where it's acknowledged that it takes around 1000 hours to even get decent at the game.
I'm curious how we know that the odds of facing a good team are astronomically low? I know that I don't tunnel or camp, I give hatch often, and I often go in as killer with no addons. So I expect that I could increase my MMR by doing those things to varying extents. (I know that when I put on some strong addons, I do tend to perform better). But nevertheless, I do encounter 4-person swfs with strong items who appear to prerun before they should have a chance to know I'm coming, and areball decent loopers. I probably haven't ever faced Hens, but I don't think I'm seeing "bad" teams all the time.
Also, Nurse can definitely down with her power, but she has to do it twice. She only gets one hit from her power. But I think that's just a semantic misunderstanding we had :)
I consider anyone under 5k hours to be new, to be fair. I no lifed this game from 2016 all the way until OW2 came out, and I still play regularly. I have about 11.5k hours now.
I know that good teams are astronomically rare because I actively play inefficiently on killer and mess around, just to easily win anyways. My Nurse build is Awakened Awareness, Agitation, Fire Up, and Forever Entwined. Yet I'm easily killing everyone (and I don't tunnel or camp either, I always go for 12 hook games) before even two gens are done. I don't even bother using my brain on killer as a role anymore because I already know I'm going to be able to win without trying. I can count on one hand the number of times I've faced a good team in the past month. Just because people are stacking doesn't mean they're actually good at the game. Hell, most stacks are even easier to win against than solos because they do stupidly aggressive things to either try to bully you or save their friend.
Anyways, what I mean about Kaneki only getting one hit with his power is that he can never down you with it. He might get the first hit for free, but for the second he has to play like an M1 killer that MAY be able to play specific loops in very specific ways to down faster. If you're struggling against Kaneki, it has nothing to do with how good he is. At the end of the day, beating him is the same as looping an M1 killer with No Mither.

There are a number of killer main players around here whose preferred killers aren't Nurse, Blight, or Billy who will indicate that they face extremely strong survivors. I don't think we should assume that they're all facing bad survivor players just because they're not playing the best killers available.
Considering that most of us who regularly comment in this forum are likely above the MMR softcap, it's at the very least likely that many of us have been matched against very strong opponents occasionally, even if there is a fairly wide range of MMR pairings available.
The only question is how often each person faces such opponents and how often they win those matches. Sure, a Nurse or Blight or Spirit in the hands of someone with many hundreds or even some thousands of hours on that one killer will likely have an easier time than a Pig or Pinhead main, but that doesn't mean they aren't facing the same survivor players.
Also, even Nurse only gets one hit with her power ;)
Everyone is at the soft cap but new players. The chances of you facing an actual good team are astronomically low no matter how good you are. So either he doesn't win enough to face good players at all, or he wins against bad players and just takes the occasional loss whenever he stumbles upon survivors that know what they're doing.
And I didn't know that Nurse could only injure people with her power 🤔 could've sworn I've been downing with it since 2016...

What do you want a killer to have?
Most Kaneki - players never mindgame, because they dont have to. Force pallet, break pallet, go next pallet, get free hit, force pallet, break pallet, down, hook, camp, tunnel, slug. The killer power enables this kind of playstyle.
Im sorry to be so harsh but that is literally all the experience I had with this killer and Ive been playing a lot.
If a b - tier killer (assuming Kaneki is b, which he is definitely not in my opinion. A-S suits him more) is not viable in your eyes then I dont know what to tell you. Im a Pig main. I learned the core mechanics with her. I win with her.
"I win with her" because you face bad players consistently. That's more of a you thing than a Pig thing. If you can't fight a killer that can only get one hit with his power, you were never good at survivor to begin with

No.
Getting a 3rd blink breaks the game more than you already are.
You essentially just have 100% hit rate on all your attacks. Any nurse main with access to bookmark, knows this. We dont use it as its blatantly unfair. Some use it and it becomes a bad habit of relying on it.
Charge time means nothing when you are carrying the person you had 0 chance of not downing.
You just get another blink. And even SupaAlf, doesn't have 100% blink hit rate. So even he could use it.
It also lets you cover much more distance.
It is the best addon and most broken one in the game, across all killers.
I didnt ask for your hours on nurse. But I now doubt what you say.
You'd know about charge time meaning nothing and distance if what you say about your hours is true.No one has a 100% hit rate with three Blinks either. It doesn't change anything other than the fact that it takes two entire seconds longer to end a chase if you're playing correctly.
I don't use it because it's not good. If I really want to sweat, I run heavy panting and dark cincture, as those are her current best add-ons.

Completely dismissive of OP but what can you expect on these Forums from Killers. There is more to improving Survivor than just "making it easier."
No, there really isn't. Survivor is already the stronger role. The only improvements you could make without breaking the game would be making skills good survivors already have more accessable
-
@radiantHero23 said:

Your comparing m1s to a power that nobody finds fun if there's enough vocal complaints he will be changed simple as that also saying you'd prefer a nurse is a wild tell
Kaneki is nowhere near the only killer to get free hits with his power. He still can't down with it and his anti loop is extremely limited. There's no reason to nerf him, especially because he's not even that good

Let me make this really simple for you:
Yes, you are being contradictory, all over this thread.
You said this:
"If you balance the game around high skill players, you MUST contend with the fact that at the highest level, Nurse is pretty much one of the only viable killers."
But when I bring up actual, documented, recorded high-skill performance, like SupaAlf’s 1,132 win streak, or tournament teams like Team Eternal, suddenly it “doesn’t matter.” Now you’re dismissing the clearest examples we have of high-level gameplay.
Then you pivot and say:
"But the data doesn’t show it. Even Nurse, when looking at HIGH MMR per BHVR’s stats, always shows her at the middle of the pack at best."
So now you’re hugging BHVR’s public kill rate data, which is still averaged out across thousands of players with wildly different skill levels, even at "high MMR." You’re moving the goalposts to whatever supports your point in the moment.
You can’t claim Nurse is only viable at high skill and then reject high-skill evidence when it makes her look broken. You also can’t dismiss win streaks as subjective while acting like kill rate stats are gospel; especially when those stats are shaped by player volume, not peak potential.
Since you brought up the stats? Let’s look at them.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/I79LMK6VC0JL/image.png
You don’t get to call Nurse "only viable at high level" and then turn around and ignore the actual high-level evidence when it makes her look too strong. That’s not a consistent argument, it’s just cherry-picking to protect your stance.
If we’re talking about real balance at the top level, we need to acknowledge that Nurse isn’t just viable, she’s in a completely different league.
You've now triple downed on something you aren't even staying consistent with.@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/444698/nurse
As a nurse main, i'm going to say the same thing i say in every single thread about her.
Do you balance the game around average skill players, or top level players?
- If you balance the game around average skill players, you MUST contend with the fact that nurse is one of the lowest, if not THE lowest kill rate killer in the game, meaning that she likely needs massive buffs
- If you balance the game around high skill players, you MUST conted with the fact that at the highest level, nurse is pretty much one of the only viable killers.
You don't get to have it both ways.
Your proposal would basically make her even worse for average skill players, while only slightly nerfing her at the high levels. The reason she's so good at a high level is because she can end chases extremely quickly a good nurse is going to land a hit with every blink, that's a chase ending within 10 seconds or so. Adding a 3rd forced "attack" to that, just extends that chase to, what, maybe 16-20 seconds? She's still going to be extremly strong in the hands of a good player.
But again, that brings me back to my point, in the hands of a good player. Why do people always want to nerf nurse despite the fact that she's only as good as she is when played by an extremely skilled or experienced player, but when we talk about nerfing survivors or buffing other killers its "won't someone think of the casuals?!"
Reinami is right, as per usual. High MMR isn't indicative of a high level player. Basically everyone is high MMR now.

We have plenty of killers outside of Nurse and Blight that are viable at higher levels of play. Spirit, Larry, Plague, Dracula, Twins, Wesker, Billy, maybe even Artist, Oni and Pinhead. Kaneki might be on that list too, but it will take time to figure that out.
We can't blame killers being generally weak as the reason for the gap between say Nurse and Spirit. The Spirit is not weak or underpowered. She's extremely lethal. Possibly the most well balanced killer in the game. She and other strong killers like her are not the problem, Nurse and Blight are.
None of those killers are time efficient enough to be actually viable. The reason Nurse and Blight are is because they have a very strong chase or very strong mobility with good chase or good mobility.
Every other killer is too slow in some way. Dbd is a game about time efficiency and Nurse/Blight are the only efficient killers. The only way to make other killers viable would be to massively nerf survivors, but that wouldn't be fun for anyone, especially considering the fact that I'm only talking about the highest level of play.

The point I'm making isn't that the devs should necessarily implement that system, but that they should find some other way of tuning Nurse or Blight. Both Nurse and Blight have been severely nerfed over the years, and it has done almost nothing to their position in the game.
Rather than wasting another few years trying to balance them through basekit tweaks, the devs should think of some other way of reducing their effectiveness. If the devs can find some way of limiting the power level of the most overtuned killers, they can also use that system to increase the power level of weaker killers, whatever that system turns out to be.
It's done almost nothing because no other killers are actually efficient enough to be viable across all levels. Nurse and Blight will always be the two best killers no matter how much they get nerfed unless they release one with both map pressure and chase potential. It has nothing to do with Nurse or Blight and everything to do with the other killers simply not being good enough.
-
Nurse is fine. She exists because the devs refuse to rework the game to make survivors inefficient enough at gens for every killer to have a fair shot at a win. There are very few people that are good at her to begin with, and most of the people that are good at her have a LOT of time on the game and would be winning regardless of who they're playing.
-
I've literally never had a problem against him even before the omeganerfs. He's Legion with added mobility and difficult techs to get sometimes alright anti-loop. The only thing that doesn't work is holding W, which was a terrible playstyle to begin with.

Also, at this point, the Scooby Doo IP has to be in the toilet after the box office bomb that was Scoob and years of no new content. Like I seriously doubt they're drawing in many new young fans for Scooby Doo so what do they really have to lose. They don't even need to be new survivors they can just make them cosmetics/cosplays for existing survivors like Attack on Titan. They could even give Dwight a Scooby onesie.

High Mobility killers dominate DBD right now, and they have done so for a long time. A large part of their effectiveness comes from their aura-reading perks. So I was wondering how much a perma-blindness effect on them would affect their rankings in the tier list.
I'm not talking about killers who can transport to specific points on the map (Unknown, Onryo, Dredge, Demogorgon, Nightmare, Singularity, etc), nor killers who can't attack during their rapid traversal of the map (Wraith, Spirit, Dark Lord, etc) but killers like Nurse, Blight, Hillbilly, Ghoul & Wesker, all of whom can travel to attack wherever they want to in very quick time, and are often ranked top 10 in killer tier lists.
I'm not saying we should actually implement perma blindness to these killers, but if we did, how much worse would they become? Would they stay S-tier, would they become the worse killers in the game, or would they become middle of the road killers? They'd still keep their powers, they just can't supplement them with aura-reading.
Not very far. The best thing you can do is stack slowdown anyways. No one good at Nurse needs aura perks to play her.

This killer is the reason why I'm so burnt out of the game right now, and it's every match. All it takes to win with this killer is to jump to a survivor and insta-cancel with your power, and there's no chance for the survivor to make any distance, if you have no resources available you might as well just give up.
The nerfs did absolutely nothing, Ghoul can still traverse the map at an insane rate, easily injure survivors, and destroy any chances at making distance, it's not fair, and it's flat out boring, I'm tired of versing the same thing every match.
I'm trying to also farm blood points, but all these Ghoul's are doing are jumping right back to the hook to tunnel me out, one moment they are across the map, then the moment they hear the unhook notification they are right back at the hook, how is this fun?
If you're on a small map, consider it done, no one's escaping, if you're on a big map like Mother's Dwelling maybe, but still very annoying to deal with considering he can just traverse the map in a blink of an eye, with such a short cooldown.
Wanna try to loop also? Ghoul can also vault pallets, or just close in the distance, including body blocking a pallet or window by jumping to it so the survivor has no chance, very fun and engaging.
And Ghoul has a base speed of 4.6 which is so stupid, why does the Ghoul need that when they also have a stupidly insane map traverse power, as if they weren't strong enough, they need to nerf it down to 4.4.
But in all seriousness, how in the world are you supposed to counter Ghoul? I'm in serious need of help with versing Ghoul; actual tips are appreciated rather than troll comments. I'm not the best looper I'm going to admit, so some other players will be better at versing Ghoul than players like me, so any experienced loopers that have any tips please share!
Just get used to playing injured. He gets the first hit for free but after that his power becomes basically useless at most loops. Literally just Legion with mobility.

Because stealth is incredibly boring and hasn't been the core gameplay loop since before people discovered looping. If you don't want to actually play dbd, why are you playing in the first place?

I play this game. It's got some good points and some good moments, but I cant for the life of me get over how it feels like I'm just being bent over repeatedly and there's not much I can do about it.
People say to just treat it casually but I seriously don't know how. It's an online PvP game with core gameplay mechanics and perks that are always major topics of contention even if we are talking about a couple seconds or percentage points difference. That's not very casual...
I cant help but to get upset - it's just not making sense to my eyes. I get pimp slapped across the back of my head from feet away, outplaying or outsmarting the killer doesn't always yield positive results, and I cant even build relationships with other players in comms that could lead to a more casual/comedic experience.
I've got almost 1k hours in this game so obviously it's not terrible, but I'd actually like to have a consistent experience in terms of enjoyment - at the very least. It just seems like the asymmetrical nature is kicking yall's keisters. It's like disarming a bomb. You tweak a lil bit, stare at the bomb in fear, tweak some more, then BOOM! Incoming hit scan Kaneki.
I just want to know how I can enjoy myself more across the board even when I'm dealing with slugging Twins, tunneling Knights, and 20k cash tournament Blights.
Just stop caring, tbh. I have 11k hours in this game and I'll never see it as competitive. A competitive game would have a real matchmaking system and consistent balance across the board, not two killers massively outperforming all the rest because real teamwork on survivor has to be beatable somehow.
Y'know what I do when I get slugged? Tbagged? BMed in any way? I laugh. Because at the end of the day, I genuinely just couldn't care less what someone else does in dbd. And if someone is hard sweating to kill me in a game I'm barely trying in, I take it as a compliment.

When I used to play Friday the 13th: The Game, after a match, if a Jason player destroyed the lobby and was wearing bloody skins, many players would insult the playstyle of Jason (similar to the way it goes in this game)
Often times people would point out that by the Killer (Jason) choosing the bloody skins, they were showing off that they were a sweaty or try hard player.
Do any of you feel that way in DBD? For example if you see the Killer is wearing their bloody prestige cosmetic, do you interpret it as a sign the match is going to be miserable as Survivors?
Same question to Killers about Survivors wearing them.
Usually that the player is bad, tbh. Most good players have played for a long time and have a rift skin at the very least for basically everyone.

Survivors are so unskilled that they need a minimum of 5k hours to loop or complete gens.... Yet killers can pick up the game and play like gods. Yeah, I think you are misunderstanding which role is unskilled here.
It's not that killers are better at the game, it's that killers don't need to be better to win against the horrible players on survivor.
Fact is, most killers don't know how to loop or manage time efficiently either. But this game is killer sided when no one knows what they're doing, so...

but we had seen insane queue times, it was just not really fun for most people and quite hated overall.
I don't think DBD is the game for that anyway, I liked old rank system. It separated regular players from less playing/starting and that was enough imo.The old system massively inflated queues for no real upside, because the "matchmaking" still simply didn't work. Ranks were never a reflection of skill in the first place.

You are asking kinda impossible, even if there would be most accurate MMR system, you wouldn't get 4 survivors with over 10k.
- not enough players for that
- time played does not equal MMR (skill)
That's kinda the point. Dbd will never have a matchmaking system
-
@Shaped said:
Matchmaking is the biggest reason it can feel that way.
This. I have 11,000 hours. I regularly face survivors with under 5k. It's practically impossible for me to lose at that point. Dbd will always be stompy unless it gets a real ranking system, which it never will because players like me would have to wait hours for a game.

No idea. First try to google your issue and see if anyone else has it and if they do how they fixed it.
Some basic things to try are:- close all background programs and disable any overclocking/overvolting/undervolting
- update drivers (or if on newest version, downgrade to safest version)
- uninstall and reinstall the game
if none of these fix your issue it's probably some obscure bug that makes performance worse because of an interaction with your (os version / PC part / whatever)
Thanks so much!
