Well I wish you luck! When (not if cause we're being positive and empowering here) when you do hit that personal goal we should celebrate. I'll bake a cake 🎉 or maybe a pie if you prefer 🤗 gonna need a treat after that grind

    Aw that sounds amazing!!

I'll help you; let's make an Oreo pie!

Ah, I see. Totally fair to have personal goals, but I think it’s also important to separate personal grind from balance expectations. At really high MMR with enough hours, you're naturally going to outperform most matchmaking brackets. But that’s kind of the issue if you’re playing so well that the system can’t keep up. Aiming for 85% might not be unreasonable from a personal goals perspective, but I feel it would be from a design or balance perspective.

In any case, you're killing it! Gliyn and hopefully I never face you in the fog because I'm really terrible at facing cracked out nurses haha j/k

    Congrats on your success :)

Oh no, I'm not talking from a balance perspective lol

Nurse doesn't need buffs, I just need to step up my hatch game 💀

And thanks so much for the kind words!!

I mean 73% is pretty damn high. How much higher did you expect?

Never mind. I should have kept reading lol.

73 is high, I just know I can go higher

of course, nurse is not only the most op killer but also the most unfun to play against… what do you expect. I don't see how someone could even play a killer that is so easy to win with for so long, it definitely wouldn't be very exciting

    God, you're pathetic.

Can I ask how much higher you want your killrate to be for nurse? As 72% is really, really good, statistically speaking. I feel like if it was higher it would be a bit unreasonable.

    I'm shooting for 85%.

I know it sounds unreasonable, but I'm at the level of hours where the lack of matchmaking basically makes it impossible to lose. My killrate should reflect that but my lack of hatch gaming kinda undermines it.

Most perks in the game work best if you use them at the best times. Using them at the worst times can be detrimental. There is almost no perk that isn't like this outside of maybe some of the "you do X action faster". But even then, arguably you are paying for the opportunity cost of taking a different perk.

Most perks in the game work best if you use them at the best times

And if you don't, they don't punish you anywhere near as hard as SC. Misusing other perks is only detrimental because you don't get the benefit of the perk later. Misusing SC is a game losing misplay because of how LONG it takes

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3946551#Comment_3946551

Sure, you had to use it carefully obviously, just like literally every other perk in the game, but the point was that it gave you an equal efficiency self heal, as many times as you want, whenever you want.

But not like any perk in the game. 99% of perks amount to what is basically free value. And even if you don't get value, there's no DOWNSIDE that big. Let's say you misclick your DH. You just...don't have it for your next chase. Gen efficiency isn't affected

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/448455/so-why-did-we-nerf-self-care-again

    It was mathematically too efficient.

Back when it let you heal yourself at half speed but as much as you want. A single heal would take 32 seconds. But, normally you need another survivor to heal you, (or you use a medkit which was limited in the number of uses).

Limited uses is a given, it was limited by the number of uses. Another survivor can heal you, but how long does that take? 16 seconds. But its 2 survivors, so its 32 seconds of survivor time spent healing. With self care, that meant that you could heal yourself with the same efficiency as another survivor without needing to actually FIND another survivor and could go somewhere where it was super low risk. And you could do it an unlimited number of times.

Mathematically analyzing games is almost always useless, as it was with SC. It was and is a waste of time to consistently heal at all. Nothing was ever efficient about self care because the action of healing itself was never efficient to begin with.

If you were able to correctly identify the times healing was needed and use SC then, you were rewarded for the good play. If you weren't, you were punished with half a gen of progress lost. That's a very good risk:reward ratio, my guy.

The "Why did we nerf Self-Care again?" title can be read in multiple different ways. "Why did we nerf Self-Care again?" could be used in a manner to where it is "trying to jog memory" or it can be used in a manner where it refers to the fact that something was "nerfed again" when it shouldnt have been. I read it as the later of the two, my apologies.

Im aware that it got nerfed all the way back in Patch 6.1.0, I was there for it, and I still dont agree with the fact that it got nerfed in that Patch and even make reference to it in my original post. Self-Care was kind of a mediocre perk (in my opinion) before the nerf and after the nerf it has become outright useless by itself and still very mediocre even with perks.

It needs a buff. It's nerf didnt really make sense.

The perk ONLY got nerfed because of the high usage rate, but as it stood, the effect of the perk itself was really bad and most people who were using it were either SoloQ and/or new players.

Sure you never saw 3rd most popular perk those days, buddy. At your professional max pro red ranks was no self-care. Sure.

Third most popular because Claudette is the best survivor to start on and the vast majority of the playerbase is bad, yes. No one good ever used Self Care outside of building for FUN. It wasn't meta.

  • @GeneralV said:

Greetings, friends of the Fog! I hope this discussion finds you doing well.

By now most of us have already seen that the Go Next Prevention mechanic was killswitched after the disaster that it caused when players got punished even if they did nothing wrong.

But I think that raises the question as to why such mechanic was added in the first place. And the answer may be obvious at first: the "Go Next" epidemic and the sheer amount of games where players decide to suicide on hook.

The answer is correct, sure, but I would like to propose a deeper discussion:

What was the origin of the "Go Next" epidemic? Why did such thing ever existed in the first place, and how did it reach a level so severe that changes were made to fundamental aspects of the game?

And if I were to share my own answer, I would say it was caused by a gradual deterioration of the survivor role. Because let's think for a second about the year I started playing DBD: 2018. Back then the game simply didn't have DC penalties, one could DC as much as they wanted to, with the only punishment being rank-related (the loss of a pip, if memory serves me right). And yet, people didn't disconnect like crazy every single game.

It happened sometimes, of course, especially with OG Legion, but I wouldn't call it an epidemic of its own.

However, back then there was more to the survivor role than there currently is. They still had proper resources, they didn't have to worry about waves and waves of gen-related killer perks, stealth was still a viable playstyle, killers weren't as oppressive, and the list goes on.

But we all know that changed in more recent times. Survivors lost most of what they had available to them, and nothing was really given. They die more often, their objectives are harder to do (due to perks), and generally speaking they have a worse experience. It is a lack of everything, and it seems to me that was the primary reason for the massive increase of hook suicides.

Let me know what you think, please share your thoughts, any feedback is welcome!

Why do you think the "Go Next" epidemic existed?

Why do you think the "Go Next" epidemic existed?

Because this playerbase is ridiculously whiny, even more so than OVERWATCH'S. And that game literally has an abundance of actual conspiracy theorists. Want proof? Look at the people on my thread, complaining about Self Care of all things.

Dbd is genuinely not worth the mental energy or effort the people on here and in-game put into it. They take it way too seriously, and treat it like a competitive game. It's not one. And having that mindset makes it SUPER easy to tilt. So after a session of getting progressively more tilted, people see a killer they don't like? Poof, gone. A perk they don't like? Poof, gone. A teammate accidentally sandbags them? Poof, gone.

My solution is to just…not treat the game as anything more than casual fun. I never DC on either role unless facing/playing with a cheater.

perk that was never a problem to come back.

Except it was a giant problem. I remember these days, when every lobby had at least 2 Self Care and everyone who understands what map pressure is knows how stupid this perk was.
And it comes from someone who plays WAY more survivor than you and has Self Care as one of the most used perks.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/EVFVDRG83GTJ/image.png

Every lobby where 💀 yellow ranks?

DS, DH/SB, UB, WGLF. That was always the build back then. If you didn't want more bloodpoints, maybe you'd run PT or Bond, Kindred, or another solo queue perk. I never saw self care because it was in fact #########.

  • @kaneyboy said:

why does this killer have it all? Stealth, range, teleportation and speed. Feels awful playing survivor atm.

He's not even good 💀 his existence spawns DEMO PORTALS that survivors get to use, basically for free. The only problem I actually have with him is the fact that he isn't always facing where he's aiming the hatchet, so sometimes you get hit when you have no idea he's about to throw.

  • @fussy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/448455/so-why-did-we-nerf-self-care-again

Maybe because have free and unconditional fast self-healing should never be a thing in a game with 4 targets? Why killer should even waste time to injure you, if you can undo all his work faster than he did it, and there are 3 other survivors like you on top of it?
We had a lot of examples of how stupid and game breaking was any form of fast and unconditional self-healing, and I think devs finally understand it. Altruistic healing at its strongest, some perks are borderline unfair, but community still don't want to use it because of self-healing brainrot.

TIL that 32 seconds + time it takes to find a good spot is fast.

I'm literally a killer main. 90% of my playtime is killer. Hence why I'm complaining about a 3 year old nerf now. I knew when they did it, but I didn't really care because I never played the role enough to mind. But now that I'm getting more into survivor, I'm annoyed at the change much later.

You'll pretty much never see me arguing for survivors on here. That's why all of my posts get downvoted to all hell; I have the takes of a seasoned killer main. I'm not arguing for a gigabuff to the survivor role. Not asking for a new guaranteed meta perk. Just asking for a niche perk that was never a problem to come back.

And it's 20% for each injured Survivor, so combined with Botany it works better even when the team is all pressured. Let me know how you like it! I always use Kindred so that's my 1st perk.

Let’s break this down factually and simply:

    • You wrote: “Self-Care used to be 50%” and was “nerfed now to 35%.”
    • The thread, the surrounding context, and the timing of your post all pointed to the current patch. No clarification was given until after the pushback.
    • The line “I’m not talking about this last patch…” was added in an edit… after the fact. It wasn’t part of the original message.
    • You also claimed I must be a “new player” for not knowing what happened “now,” when the actual nerf happened on July 19, 2022… nearly two years ago.

That’s the timeline. That's the miscommunication. And that’s the misplaced condescension.

So no, the issue was never about whether the 6.1.0 nerf happened… I documented that clearly, with exact patch data. The issue was presenting your version of events with authority, misframing the timing, and then retroactively editing the comment to appear clearer than it originally was.

If you had simply written: “The original Self-Care nerf from 50% to 35% was a bad decision”… no one would’ve batted an eye. But you didn’t. You posted it in the present tense, mid-discussion of the current patch, and accused others of ignorance when your own post lacked the timeline clarity you're now demanding in hindsight.

    So let’s call it here:
You got caught overstating something, tried to edit your way out of it, and now you're upset it didn’t land. That's not on anyone else.

We're done. No hard feelings → just facts.

Omg why are you still trying 💀

50 to 35 percent is in fact a huge nerf, my guy

Is STILL very clearly referencing the original nerf. An edit for additional clarity doesn't change the original message. Moreover, the edit was made wayyy before you commented again so it's not like you didn't see it.

The thread, the surrounding context, and the timing of your post all pointed to the current patch

No it didn't. Self Care wasn't nerfed this patch; that makes no sense.

You also claimed I must be a “new player” for not knowing what happened “now,”

I said you must be new for not knowing that Self Care was originally 50%, as that's what everything you said pointed to. Don't wanna be mistaken for a new player? Don't ACT like one.

    No hard feelings

But you DO have hard feelings, hence why you're still here arguing something you've already been proven wrong on, even despite getting downvoted to all hell.

As I said before, this is literally just embarrassing for you.

If you're going to run a self heal build, swap out Resilience and use Desperate Measures instead. It was recently buffed. I tried it last night for fun, it wasn't bad and I could heal and unhook teammates faster.

Did you know that in Asian servers, Self Care even at 35% is still meta to this day? That's why it's always appeared so highly on usage charts.

To say it's not good and no one ran it is not true, but the West tends to have a more altruistic play style that doesn't typically exploit the benefits of a perk like Self Care.

Not to mention that 32s on its own might sustainable, but you start factoring perks like Botany Knowledge makes a 50% Self only take 21.33s... which is only 5.33s more than Circle of Healing with no 14s boon set up required.

Asian servers don't concern me, because clearly they're just not that good at the game. Dbd is the only game I've ever seen where Asians don't dominate the pro scene (although the pro scene in dbd is, ofc, significantly smaller). The best dbd players have always been EU, and I say that as an NA player myself. No one ran it in relevant servers, I suppose that's a more accurate way to frame it.

you start factoring perks like Botany Knowledge

Then you make it unaffected by other healing perks. That's a simple fix

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

Again OP, you can get mad at me but I am just the messenger.

The mechanic of being able to infinitely heal on demand at any place in the map is too strong and they don't want it in the game, clearly. And how this this "one of the hardest to use well" lol? You literally press M1 until you're healed, it is no harder to use than a medkit.

They don't want this in the game, so they have made it so it isn't really viable unless you bring Botany on top (which actually isn't that bad as it helps all heals a lot btw).

I'm not mad at you, hence why I didn't downvote your post.

The mechanic of being able to infinitely heal on demand at any place in the map is too strong

No it's not, not when it takes forever. Self Care was objectively never meta at 50%, and there's a very good reason for that.

how this this "one of the hardest to use well" lol?

What other perks punish you for using them wrong with half a gen of inefficiency? If you don't use self care correctly, all of the time wasted adds up and you just straight up lose the game. It's one of the only perks that requires you to be smart about when and how you use it.

  • @Senaxu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3946164#Comment_3946164

You're now trying to retroactively reframe your comment into something it never clearly was.

Let’s break this down factually and simply:

    • You wrote “Self-Care used to be 50%” and was “nerfed now to 35%.”
    • You used the present tense — “now” — while replying in a thread that’s explicitly discussing the most recent patch.
    • Then, instead of clarifying from the start, you doubled down by assuming I was “clearly a new player” for allegedly not knowing that.

That’s the core issue: You accused someone of ignorance for supposedly missing a change that happened almost two years ago — on July 19, 2022, in Patch 6.1.0 — and then shifted goalposts when that contradiction got pointed out.

If your actual point was “the 2022 nerf shouldn’t have happened,” you could’ve said exactly that. Instead, you made a misleading statement in the context of a patch discussion, got called out with receipts, and are now scrambling to reframe the conversation after the fact.

There’s no timeline error here except the one in your own post. So if you’re going to play the veteran card, maybe be a bit more precise next time… because confidence without accuracy isn’t expertise. It’s noise.

    Buddy.

You wrote “Self-Care used to be 50%” and was “nerfed now to 35%.”

I did not say it was nerfed now, I said it was now 35%. Just as gens are now 90 seconds, moris now activate after two hooks, etc etc.

You used the present tense — “now” — while replying in a thread that’s explicitly discussing the most recent patch.

*I made the thread*. This was NEVER about the most recent patch, and I clarified that in my first comment.

instead of clarifying from the start

Except for the fact that I DID, and I even quoted it for you.

STOP doubling down, dude. You are wrong, you have been wrong, and you will always be wrong. This is just embarrassing. If you're trying to save face, shutting up would be your best option.

I mean, I would love to have back old Sloppy butcher and addons without timer again…
Also make Sloppy work on special attacks, so healing have better counter. I bet survivors would also like that.

But I still don't think altruistic should be less than 16 seconds by default. I think it's fine now and self healing should not be faster than that unless you use several perks for it. That simply wouldn't make sense to me.

Old Sloppy would also be fine to have back, though I find that the timer doesn't do much to the perk. Special attacks...eh, it works for some killers but not others. I'd be a fan though, as a Nurse main.

    @MaTtRoSiTy said:

But as I already said OP, they clearly don't want Self Care to even be a thing, I am not arguing that it is weak but they wont buff it because being able to infinitely heal on demand without a med kit is insanely strong. They nerfed SC into oblivion for a reason

I was a big fan of running Strength in Shadows for a long time, while having to go to the basement to heal isn't ideal, in a desperate situation it is incredibly good and getting the killers aura upon finishing your heal can be very helpful too.

they clearly don't want Self Care to even be a thing,

Just like they don't want not being on gens for a measly 30 seconds to be a thing? Just like they don't want a TON of killers to be viable across all levels? The devs make bad decisions and it's fine to criticize them.

Self Care is one of the only well designed survivor perks in the game, and one of the hardest to use well. It doesn't have to be meta, but it shouldn't be virtually unusable.

  • @Flopkween said:

I don't know why people are trying to convince you that self care was strong in any way back then.

Like sure in theory healing yourself anywhere without help sounds good but in actuality it wasted a ton of time back then. Especially since sloppy butcher was so common. Not to mention most of the time you needed another healing speed perka along with it for efficiency since it was so slow by itself.

I have a feeling that these guys just didn't play back then. No one ran Self Care when it was 50%, because it was still not a good perk. Definitely nowhere near the meta. And while you could argue that it was because other perks were way stronger back then...that's still very true now. Self Care at 50% would still not be that good, ESPECIALLY now that gens are 90 seconds and efficiency is even more important.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

Survivors wouldn't have to gen rush if healing was better, which is ofc true..

It's the same logic as Blight and Nurse are strong enough not to have to tunnel and slug to win, and we ofc never see that happen either. Right?

And survivors never gen rushed when old CoH (I would say one of best times for self healing) was a thing, right? They still did, BNP was always used…

Thing is self healing and healing in general can never be lower than time it takes for killer to injure the survivor in first place. That kinda makes it impossible to build pressure except by full tunneling, which we have seen with OG CoH and old medkits.

COH was 16 seconds, which made it omegabusted. That's nowhere near the same thing. You can nerf genrushing and buff self healing, y'know. You can do two things at once.

Thanks for the clarification… though I’d argue it came a bit late.

You claimed I was “clearly a new player” for referencing a nerf that happened almost two full years ago. That’s not a reading comprehension issue… that’s just you getting the timeline completely wrong, while confidently posturing as the expert in the room. And that’s exactly the kind of attitude that deserved to be addressed.

You could’ve said from the start: “I was referring to the 6.1.0 nerf in 2022” and we’d be done. But instead, you misrepresented the timeline, made an incorrect assumption about who you were talking to, and tried to deliver a lecture on patch history… while getting the patch history wrong.

Next time, maybe less chest-pounding, more accuracy.

that’s just you getting the timeline completely wrong

So where did I get the timeline wrong, exactly? Make it make sense.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

Wasting 32 seconds every single time you want to heal is NOT meta level in any way

You realize that's basically exactly same as when another survivor heals you, right? And selfhealing should not be even close to effeciency of altrustic healing unless it is limited in some way, which selfcare is not.

Another survivor shouldn't really be healing you at all unless they have a perk to do it faster, because that's ALSO inefficient. Why should a perk be less efficient than an already inefficient action, especially when a common item does it much more efficiently? That doesn't make any sense at ALL.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

That's post on level of internet explorer speed…
Self healing is one of strongest things survivors can do, so perk that can do it as many times you want at any location simply can't be even close to speed it takes 2 survivors to heal.

Wasting 32 seconds every single time you want to heal is NOT meta level in any way. That adds up way too fast. Self Care was always just a fun perk you could run a build with in solo queue to heal in chases that lasted for a long time already. That's impossible to do now, even with a full build dedicated to it.

Survivor is strong because it's more efficient as a role. Gens come faster than hooks if you slam them. You can't slam gens when you're off of them for minutes at a time between a chase and a heal.

I've been playing this game since 2018 and have over 4.5k hours logged. In that time, one thing never fails to amuse me: the confidence with which some players present absolute nonsense as fact… and they do it with such conviction, you'd think they wrote the design docs themselves. It's refreshing, honestly. Thanks for the entertainment.

Now, let’s talk about Self-Care. You confidently claimed that it used to be 50% healing speed and that it was nerfed "now" to 35%. And then you followed up by assuming I must be a new player for not knowing this. Here's the thing:

Self-Care was nerfed from 50% to 35% healing speed on July 19, 2022, with the release of Patch 6.1.0. That’s nearly two full years ago.

Not only that… the patch also removed the bonus to Med-Kit healing efficiency, which was another integral part of the perk’s former utility. Since then, Self-Care heals at a glacial pace: 64 seconds at Tier I, ~53 seconds at Tier II, and ~46 seconds at Tier III. Completely inefficient… which is why it hasn’t been considered meta since.

So before you try to “educate” someone and confidently declare them a new player, maybe get your own timeline straight first. Because right now, the only thing you're demonstrating is how little you actually know about the game’s patch history… and that’s a rough look when you’re trying to posture like a veteran.

Ok so this is actually just sad. Any veteran would've known what I meant the second I said "50 to 35 percent" even if the original post wasn't clear.

that it was nerfed "now" to 35%.

No, I never said it was nerfed in this last patch, which you'd know if you had even a little bit of reading comprehension.

I'm talking about the original nerf that should never have happened

Hell, I even explicitly said I was talking about the *original* nerf. Please be smarter next time, thx

It can't be that, it's right above it.

It could maybe be Dominance or the Hex.

Could be. It's the same exact stats, so it's entirely possible it's a duplicate

What exactly was nerfed about Self-Care, explicitly?

I’ve read the patch notes and can’t find any mention of a direct change to Self-Care. If you’re referring to the indirect shift through Botany or Medkit tweaks, that’s not a Self-Care nerf.
So unless I missed a stealth update:
What was actually changed.. or are we calling “not buffed alongside others” a nerf now?

Ok so you're very clearly a new player. Self Care heals at 35% of the normal 16 seconds now. It used to be 50%. Was 50% for, what, 6 years before they changed it?

    @MaTtRoSiTy said:

Being able to heal anywhere on demand is incredibly strong in this game, so it was rightfully nerfed and I think they would rather it wasn't in the game. However it is so they nerfed it into the ground so it is no longer a problem, a common theme with problems in this game lol (Skull Merchant is a great example of the nerf it out of existence quick fix).

It's incredibly strong if it's fast. Hence why COH was broken. However, SC took 32 seconds in base BEFORE the nerf. That's super inefficient and would never break into the meta.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

    Except they didnt nerf Self-Care?

Buffing other ways of healing is a separate thing from nerfing Self-Care. Botany Knowledge and Self-Care can be used the same as before, they work perfectly fine and the interaction has not changed; and while interactions with Botany Knowledge and Medkits has increased, the main appeal of Self-Care has always been consistency, you dont have to worry about Item Charges or perks that counter items.

Sometimes perks are not meant to compete with one another, sometimes they are designed to work in conjunction with other perks. Like Do No Harm versus We'll Make It; Do No Harm itself is worse than We'll Make It, but the two perks are designed to be stacked or work in conjunction with other perks. Self-Care itself is design to just co-exist with many perks and does not actively compete with many perks either.

Self-Care itself definitely needs a buff, as it stands it's a pretty bad perk, but I dont think buffing Botany Knowledge is a "Self-Care nerf".

50 to 35 percent is in fact a huge nerf, my guy. I'm not talking about this last patch, I'm talking about the original nerf that should never have happened

  • You can use it with crows now, iirc

  • I don't tunnel, camp, or really run much slowdown, but I do main Nurse

    1000032493.png

I mean, it's not horrible but I expected my killrate to be a lot higher. It's prob because I lose the hatch game all the time, and sometimes don't bother to play it, but still…

Edit: Y'all are really downvoting a good faith post because of Nurse. That's just sad, people.

Yeah, if the stats are to be believed I've spent over a thousand hours in queue, which just seems weird.

If my stats are to be believed, I spent 3.5k hours in queue. I somehow doubt that one a lot lol

Resources didn’t mean as much, when Nurse had range and recharge addons, and the outdoor maps had so few line of sight blockers, that trying to counterplay Nurse was awful.

Resources also didn’t mean as much, when Spirit had zero directional audio, and everything really was a guessing game for the survivors.

The biggest difference with older DBD, is that the grade based matchmaking was so bad, that even though survivors had a lower escape rate, they had a higher percentage of games where they clearly won without struggling at all.

The other big difference was that before the hatch rework, if a survivor brought a key, or found a key in a chest, they didn’t need to worry about 3-gen or getting slugged for the 4k, because keys often bypassed both those mechanics.

the grade based matchmaking was so bad,

Dbd has never had a real matchmaking system lol

Ranks were genuinely better at keeping new players out of skilled lobbies, but even then, rainbow ranks 😂

    Smikey!

It is so good to see you again, my dear friend! How are you? I hope you're doing well!

Well, my character selections in Overwatch are interesting. But I liked freezing people, especially Genji players, it was funny. Sadly they changed that :(

And yes, I don't even have words to describe how amazing it would be to finally have Old Freddy back. I would be happy to prove to those who still doubt it that he was not even close to the position of weakest killer in the game.

    I liked freezing people

They actually brought that back with perks

Nobody knows 2016 - 2021 Dead by Daylight more than I do.

Trust me, the past was FAR worse. Survivors didn't even had HUD indicators. OG DH. OG DS. OG Ruin. OG OoO. OG MoM. No anti-face camp. Hook grabbing. Hatch stand-off / grabbing. Tunnelling and camping was HUGE. OG Lampkin Lane. Infinites. Insta-gens. Insta-moris… I mean, the list is extremely long but I spare you the headache.

I do miss Space Billy and Space Demo though.

I preferred the past. The old HUD was less information, which made it more skillful. Old perks actually had a real impact on the game on both sides. The only thing I don't miss are hatch standoffs and infinites.

  • @GeneralV said:

    I disagree, to be honest.

I think DBD was, overall, a much better game in the past. Not in terms of new characters, because we did get interesting additions (Mikaela and FNAF for me), but everything else?

I long for early-2019 DBD. Wouldn't hesitate to go back if I could.

Agree! Though late 2019 was what I personally consider peak

I lost my last Splinter because of a prestige. Didn't know they were going to be removed.

RIP my last Glass Splinter on Freddy…

I started in 2018 myself, and I am absolutely with you with this statement. 2019 DBD was peak.

    2019 DBD was peak.

Yes! Genuinely my favorite time in this game. And it's not even that I was new and nostalgic for that, because I already had a good 5k hours at that point. It was just better

Doesn't sound fun for killer players unless we can go back to the gen kick meta version

I disagree, seeing as how I have always mained killer and never really had a problem destroying people.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

There is a reason that these things got changed 😭

People may think this is a good idea, but it's not. They won't be laughing when 15 seconds in they get infinited by every single survivor, or heal themselves faster than you can go through the attack wipe cooldown.

Old DBD belongs in the past I'm afraid. Trying to bring it back for the sake of nostalgia would be a pointless waste of resources when everyone realises how unfun it is after a single match and returns to normal queues.

The game now is far superior to how it was in the past, both mechanically and in presentation.

There is a reason that these things got changed 😭

And there's a reason a lot of people want them back.

I made a lot of memories with old dbd, as did many other veterans. While the 2016 iteration of the game may have sucked, the 2019 and 2020 iterations were arguably better than what we have now, what with all perks on both sides being nerfed to the ground, all to achieve the same relative balance state the game has always had.

Not much of a Symmetra player myself, friend, more Hanzo, Reaper and Mei.

But having freeze on primary fire again? Oh, that I sure loved!

Porting everyone off of the map :D
I tried the classic iterations of many characters that I often play in OW2, which was really fun, and it was a much different take on the game. Something that DBD could easily have done.
Keep the modern graphics, but use the old lighting and thicker fog. That would have been awesome, and then they could have done the most noteworthy patches in a rotating playlist. Granted, to make things a little more fair for killers, having the QoL feature of kicking generators would definitely be welcome.
I'd totally see the original 1.0 patch, along with a few others from the history of the game.
Maybe a tip for the 10 year anniversary next year.

PS: Judging from your profile name, I guess you got it from the "Should have picked Mercy" song.

Ah I could've sworn you said she was your main on there 😂 maybe I was thinking of someone else

I wanna have them do the old graphics if possible. I really miss the old look of the game too! I wouldn't mind small QOL things but they should leave the big ones out for both sides. The busted unfairness of it all was half the fun!

Of course 😂 being a Tracer main it was just the obvious first pick
