  • This community isn't capable of functioning with an autoban feature, especially when they know it exists they'll just report people every game they lose out of spite. Far more skilled developers with far larger companies have failed with this type of system in terms of being able to abuse it and be false banned so I don't see how BHVR is going to pull it off.

  • thanks for letting us know im sure it'll magically change with the RE chapter. that thing that has always been a thing for years I mean, I'm sure it will

  • Every killer is strong against solo players, the Nurse just makes that match over much more quickly. Basing your entire argument against one killer around the strength of a killer against solo players is idiotic, and you'd be better off suggesting buffs for solo players as a whole.

I don't know how good you are, but I've seen plenty of really, really good survivor streamers win against countless Nurse's. I know a lot of people with thousands of hours in Overwatch and they're still pretty terrible at the game

  • If, for example, two survivors are injured and choose to slam a gen out before healing so one of them can save, then I should not be punished for turning and sitting at the hook to guarantee that survivor goes struggle. If you are going to play greedy then I should have the ability to punish you for it.

A lot of people don't want to fix the problem they just want to punish the killer and make saving someone free, and that I just really don't think is a good, or healthy, idea. In fact, a lot of people who suggest fixes are basically all about giving one survivor who is hooked completely and totally immunity from the killer and being able to just be freely saved. Okay, why even have people be hooked or saved at all then? Why not have them be randomly teleported like Pyramid Head's ability, and then they break out of the cage all by themselves 60 seconds later?

Somehow I get the feeling making a change that's going to upset people who play fairly and people who play "unfairly" isn't going to go over too well.

  • I don't know how anyone can look at the current meta that's been happening for years, and the complete and utter disregard for the dozens and dozens of perks that are completely useless and say "This is fine". Clearly the hands off approach they have to anything that isn't completely gamebreakingly busted to balance has not been favorable to this game or its community

  • I don't think killers hate BT. I think there are certain scenarios where it can feel a little unfair against coordinated players, but.. not something worth complaining about. UB people dislike because killer is about applying pressure in different ways, and slugging someone creates pressure, but it also doesn't create a health state loss, which makes it actually beneficial for both sides. Um, UB isn't as meta as it used to be, even if it is still strong, especially after the DS nerf it seen less play. And again, also less meta when slugging as a whole became.. harder due to recovery time increases and max recovery buffs. Still, not really a perk killers complain much about. And DS? Again, not really something people complain about much.

I know you might see a lot of posts whining about those perks but they're not really what I'd say are problem perks, or perks that are complained about by anyone but bad killers. Again, there are arguments you can make in some scenarios for them all, but the reality is that perks like DH/COH, have becoming so much more overwhelmingly frustrating that that's.. kind of what you'll see good players complain about.

  • For someone who complains so much about things that apparently don't have counters (countless killer perks/killers) when survivors have none of that and all have some form of a counter, it's strange you're conveniently ignoring the fact NOED has a counter. You've got quite a lot of time to go to and try to find the totem then BT the person off the hook. It probably adds a little excitement to an otherwise snoozefest game.

Chances are if a killer is using NOED and you're complaining about NOED, then the killer was probably really bad and it's just upsetting to think that a bad killer gets a free kill, when good survivors wouldn't have too much trouble finding a totem and saving the person on hook. If it was so strong, and common, well, there's perks for finding just that. The only time it's an issue is if the killer is lucky enough to hook a survivor where they can guard the totem, in which case "high risk, high reward"

In other words, what you're saying is so dumb I probably wasted my time humoring it, though if I'm being honest I personally think NOED is a perk for bad killers. But hey, if it isn't NOED, it's a gen regression perk, or some pesky thing killers use to make the game easier. Not a thing a survivor would use.

  • If I walk past it when I'd be carrying them I would let them have it. As for why not besides that? Because whenever I went afk to get a drink, or just go kick some missed pallets/breakable walls, far too long of a time goes by because the survivor just sits on the hatch waiting for me to see them to teabag and jump in, when I let them have it to begin with. And this was a very, very common thing that happened

That sort of thing is the reason you'll run into killer who will just slug for the 4k. I personally didn't much care because I knew they were just a moron wasting their own time anyway, and I'm not going to get upset at someone who clearly has mental issues

  • @Ink_Eyes said:

I've seen so many nurse videos on youtube of godlike nurse players that slug the entire team in less than 2 minutes that if I think of a nurse that got beat the way you described then I wouldn't think of her as a good nurse player.

It's almost like 99% of Nurse's aren't godlike poggers youtube Nurse's that slug the entire team in 2 minutes, and you can still be really really good with her and not play a full on Starstruck/Agi slug and win in 2 minutes build. If you wouldn't even consider a Nurse who plays fair and doesn't tunnel/camp, gets everyone to death hook, while not knowing the map, their addons, their perks, or the survivors, you're quite frankly someone whos opinion means next to nothing

  • DH is definitely one of those perks that you know someone has, you know you can outplay them or they can play greedy, or catch them offguard, and they just push it and you immediately feel robbed. There's very few things in the game that give you that sort of frustration outside a lot of things that can happen to you as a survivor as well.

I mean am I the only one who thinks it's both hilarious and ridiculous that a killer is walking behind a survivor, standing on their back, for several seconds to try to bait it out? That entire scenario is so wildly stupid that it perfectly highlights the brainlessness of the perk. I don't think something with such a short cooldown and gives so much control that 4 people can have and use multiple times per match should have ever existed as long as it has in its current state

  • Normally complaining enough gets things to be changed, but when the developers know best and, based purely on the past years, thinking any significant change is going to happen is just plain ignorance. People are passionate about what they like, and you can hate a lot about something but enjoy a lot about it. But I'll say again that the developers were never ones to care about players that have been playing for years, are passionate, or good at the game.

Statistically you'd cater towards your majority and the people that make you money, the people who don't really complain that often because they're casual players. While you sit there and complain you keep playing, keep paying, and they still win in the end. I'd call that a win

  • Demo portals can be destroyed, and he's not strong enough a killer to say "He shouldn't be able to place that thing that has a counter next to our objective". Ruin can be destroyed, POP requires a chase/2 hits/down/hook. Scourge requires the same + only has limited hooks available.

You have a key and two toolboxes in play, you've got survivors with off-meta builds against a killer who is obviously playing to win and has a decent killer + perks. You lost because your teammates weren't as good as you think they were, and you have a lot of points because this killer was simply very skilled and gave you all free saves.

So, if you want to make the argument that gen regression perks are too strong if a good killer is using them, sure, but technically speaking MMR should be placing that killer against survivors who.. are close to equally skilled, and likely have similar meta perks. It's one match I wouldn't wrute a book balance over it

  • I just want to interact with the killer and get into chases as a survivor, and while I don't like being camped usually I can get away with second chance perks. And if I get tunneled, I'm still at least spending time doing anything other than afking on a gen. I wouldn't go out of my way to do it but you know, I feel like sometimes there's too little focus on fun chases in this game these days. Either that be with anti-loop killers, poor map design, or game balance as a whole. Somewhere on the way "winning" and "perfectly balanced" games became the emphasis and it ruined so much fun I used to have.

  • Even though they're not directly comparable, gen rushing is the rage equivalent of a killer tunneling and camping. It just feels bad, and it feels like you just can't play the game. It's like doing nothing wrong but being 'punished' in a sense, for it. Sometimes people focus too much on the word and too little on what it conveys

  • maybe like a sinking titanic, or a beached ship, something with ocean/water

  • This game would've been better if it actual felt like an asymmetrical 1v4 horror game, where the killer feels threatening. It should've been balanced around longer matches and the idea that escaping isn't very likely, which puts less emphasis on the desire to win and a more healthy experience overall. But that ships sailed a long time ago.

Still, always have a good chuckle when people argue balance and statistics in a 1v4 game, then boil the balance into the most basic, black and white form of "1 killer, 4 survivors, 2 escape/kill = balance" Yes, I'd choose the path that's easiest to obtain based on statistics, too. That's more fun than.. balancing for fun.

  • So you're saying every 2x bp event is people playing the same as they always do? Because that sounds like your average match to me. Sometimes you never know what you're going to get when you see 5 cakes. You could get a chill killer, chill survivors, or just 4 SWF players who are, in every way, not using those cakes for you, and you'll be able to tell.

  • Yeah, exactly, it "looks like" Freddy is hitting you from a mile away. Same as a killer like Hag sometimes does. It seems you have very little understanding how lunges and killer models work as a whole.

When a Nurse comes out of a blink she's given momentum to allow to her to have a lunge that's no different than anyone elses, but perhaps the speed at which it happens makes you think otherwise.

  • So long as these changes take into consideration things I assume they do. As a completely random example, you can't nerf base gen speeds to be longer in an attempt to make gen regression perks not meta, because killers will still use them to make the game easier. So, I hope you're thinking these changes you're making to meta perks or making basekit with higher MMR in mind, because while camping and tunneling suck, there is a reason they exist and your changes can have even more negative consequences, too

Also important to consider, say, if BT is made basekit, it also frees up another perk slot, which in itself is its own form of added strength.

  • Did they specifically say what perks they're changing and if the ones they're changing are meta perks? I would personally not care at all if every meta perk for both sides were just obliterated

  • I absolutely cannot stand people who use this as a non-argument.

You're nerfing x? Then you have to nerf y. x is not balanced? Well, you can't nerf it because y exists.

Here's an idea: If you're going to make an argument to nerf something, make an argument for it or against it, rather than some nonsensical blanket statement. Using one perk being nerfed as your justification for nerfing killers is the dumbest thing I've read here in long time.

All this would just be an excuse to nerf stronger killers that already are not that drastically impacted by DH in the first place, but rather using it as an excuse. If anything DH is only totally unfair against the non-top tier killers, aka the majority of them. Maybe we should nerf those M1 killers instead, seeing as it makes it easier for them in chases, right? This is the logic we're applying, no?

  • Complaining about Nurse, DC penalty and tunneling/camping in one post? Providing zero suggestion or explanation at all? Yeah, makes sense for why you'd be complaining

    @MrPuppier said:

If there is anyone else to cry to, let me show them how "balanced" the Nurse is. Just find 3 people like you who think she is "balanced" and let's play custom game once. You call me a rookie, you question my game experience, and I'm judged for a word I didn't say, but no one accepts my invitation. You're ridiculous. If you think you're better than me, prove it. Just prove it. Don't judge me anymore. I'm inviting you to a custom game, and you're running away without saying anything? Lmao. Let me prove to you how "balanced" she is. We'll take a screenshot of the endgame and throw it in the discussion title, so everyone will see that Nurse is very "balanced". What are you afraid of? After all, you say that even the "good" players barely do 2K with the Nurse, and I'm a "rookie". I claim that I will do at least 2K, which must be impossible for a "rookie" like me. And yet you are afraid and run away. Come on, come on, and I'll show you what a "rookie" Nurse can do.

Considering this reads just like a troll copypasta, I'm going to go ahead and assume that's what this thread equates to.

  • And what were the survivors using? Do you think because someone who uses DH, can't equally think it's busted for example? If they're a Nurse using that build, that's an aggressive build, which assumes they're above average or just stealing what top Nurse's would use. Which means the survivors that someone like that would be playing would have equally meta perks, and they're using what I assume is a generally unfavorable map for killers.

Guess what I'm trying to say is, yeah, it's stupid for anyone to complain here.

  • I think when you play a dozen games and in almost every one of them there's someone clicky clickying you or teabagging you, or just in general being toxic, regardless of how much you just say "Heh, they're so silly. But that doesn't bother me because it's just a game" It's going to make those killers just.. play like scumbags or only play high tier killers.

Both sides can be pretty petty or terrible people, but I don't personally view a killer camping or tunneling as toxic, nor do I think making a post and giving one example of how someone was an ass, really means much. If a killer isn't bleeding me out for the entire timer, sitting in front of me and smacking me, or doing a few other select things.. I'd probably say you're going to find survivors are in general who are going to give you problems more. It is just a game in the end but it's all quite childish.

  • They've stated it's to prevent tunneling, which makes no sense because tunneling means you're going to target one person regardless so you're not going to have multiple people hooked to pick and choose. It's not like it's that hard to remember who is what hook state so at the end of the day it's not there for the killers because of reasons that make no sense. The idea that it would make it easier is ridiculous but that's probably because I'm capable of simple awareness and math.

  • I'd honestly be surprised if the map developers design a good map at this point. Visually they're amazing, no complaints there. But beyond visuals the people who balance them just.. maybe don't quite understand things that 5 of their Fog Whisperers could tell them was a good/bad idea in about 10 minutes. Heh, but what do we know about map design

  • If you think these games that you can just go afk for and in 5 minutes the match is over are bad, you must have not played actual, competitive games, where you have to sit through it for 20 minutes or more if your teammates decide it, like LoL. You're stuck in a 100% losing scenario and you can't leave or you eat progressively long bans. A hard pill to swallow is this community has always been and always will be this way. It wasn't so bad 4-5 years ago when your playerbase was 10k people, but that is not your market human being anymore

  • What was the timeframe between when they mentioned nerfing DS, then finally nerfing it? I couldn't tell you but it was a very long time. Try that timeframe.

  • I think anyone who cares about a characters sexuality is a little bit childish in the first place. It's such a Twitter thing, too, like people right up there with buying DBD because they would be able to play a hot Korean kpop killer. I don't personally care, but I equally think that it's something that doesn't belong in a video game. It's like me saying I want a Democratic character, when no one cares about my political affiliations but I can relate to this imaginary, non-existent character more when I could just LARP in my headcanon.

  • They're clearly the baby of a high up developer that refuses to let go of something that everyone hates. You should not be designing maps or have an ounce of input into their concept if you balance things around something that forces a chase drop and momentum. These walls aren't created to the benefit of a killer, ever, that shouldn't already exist, and are effectively pre-dropped pallets or are otherwise worthless and ignored. If you think that's balanced, I have no words for you.

For example, on Haddonfield there's a house with a breakable wall, and a god pallet downstairs. You have to kick that pallet if it's dropped. Before they drop that pallet they can run around up the stairs and take a window vault where a breakable is next to. That whole scenario is already horrible without that walls existence.

  • The developers would be able to answer this question better than us, since all we can do is speculate the cause. You would have to have the statistics for retention, how the game holds new players or if the majority of the game is based around a flow of players. You'd look at if it's leaning towards killers, survivors, or both.

I think it's a bit silly to say they don't pay attention because this company wants to make money and they will look at statistics and the best way to do it, even if that means a specific group of the playerbase is alienated. Either way I've not seen the game have such negative growth, even with the release of a recent killer, in a very, very long time.

  • Caring or listening to any community on Twitter of all places is the worst thing any person or company could do to regardless

  • @legacycolt said:

They can’t nerf dead hard rather because there’s nurse in the game. She would be even more overpowered 🤷‍♂️

A good Nurse will bait a DH, making the perk pretty irrelevant anyway.

People thought the same thing about DS for years, before it inevitably was changed in a way that worked out for both sides.

    But I don't disagree.

  • I think this would work in a killer by killer sort of way. Similar to how some hooks have different designs based on certain killers or maps, you could have a sort of built in CI for killers who have a very weak early game to fit with their theme. This also means you would have to balance these killers, since for example Myers would be far too strong in this scenario for quite clear reasons. That's just one random thought.

  • This game will never be complete until Jason is in it, as far as I'm concerned.

  • I think a lot of killers across all MMR levels realized the reality of trying to 12 hook everyone became too difficult for a number of reasons, the biggest being MMR. I'd assume it's just not worth the headache to have to sweat your balls off just to get a 2k when you could just tunnel and camp someone and end up with it regardless. It's not very fun to have to deal with it as a survivor if it's a killer that can end chases quick, but otherwise you generally have a fighting chance with DS/BT.

  • Wouldn't you rather the killer just kill you and move onto the next match than go easy and make it boring? I guess if you need BP or something I could understand it but expecting something from the killer when they're not the one to blame is a bit silly

  • Statistically speaking your odds are quite good to choose the right one and not die, and in the end isn't that all that really matters? The shtatishtiks?

  • Personally, I value her CD reduction addons far more but that is mainly a playstyle thing. I will throw matches to perform blinks most people shouldn't in an attempt to predict people's movement because it is fun. Of course, she was my main killer for 4 years before I quit.

Her ranged addons were too strong forever and, in my opinion, simply shouldn't exist. That said you would have to put a lot of time and investment into one killer to have enough purples to last you a long time, and I don't think the green really is strong enough to justify it being nerfed. I think the most popular combo is obviously green CD + green/purple distance so a suggestion to make them not stack would be an obvious choice. Purple could use a nerf, and green I really don't think is necessary. Just my thoughts on it.

  • The stronger side received more nerfs than the other: More, at 11.

Weird how people can give solid arguments against specific perks or designs in the game without the goal being easy 4ks, but I guess that doesn't quite work for the illogical. And yes, solo queue survivor is a nightmare, but solo queue survivor being a nightmare doesn't mean killer ezoplole. You don't sit there and go "Well, this sucks for me as a solo survivor, so any complaint a killer has is irrelevant." to justify your silly statements.

Bad survivors make bad complaints, bad killers make bad complaints. If the only thing someone ever has to say is nothing but survivor this, survivor that, or killer this, killer that, then they're hard to take seriously. Kind of like.. this post.

  • Funny enough my latency to the West coast NA is around 120 or so, and my ping to EU is 130. I wish there was an option but I suppose it's too technical for the game to read whether or not I have a steady, stable ping to those servers or not. I mean an influx of people entering into the EU queues is just going to make their queues worse

  • MMR. It's really that simple. If you want to go more in-depth, you can talk about maps, perks, stuff like that. What made it tolerable was the randomness in random matchmaking. Trying to make a 1v4 asymmetrical horror game perfectly balanced in a game where 4 equally skilled survivors should have a much easier time, even if they die, against an equally skilled killer, is just silly.

Both sides have a lot of frustrations, and the developers rarely do much to help with it. That is the game and it will never get better

  • All Exhaustion perks are broken, and they always have been. You'll never change my mind on that, but some, like DH/SB, are simply more broken than others. You can't 'bring other perks' up to their level because they're on another level that they shouldn't be at in the first place.

SB pretty much turns any area into a safe area. No fear of the killer knowing where you are, no fear of them as you sit on the gen and they're walking right up to you. You just.. SB away to a pre-planned safe area. That, however, does not really feel as bad as DH does. Dead Hard rewards you for making a mistake and getting outplayed, or playing greedy, and with such a short CD, and on all 4 survivors, can extend chases to have a severe impact on the game like no other perk can. That on top of the fact that it just feels really bad to deal with as a killer. Of course, lots of things feel bad for both sides in this game.

I think there's a reason most Exhaustion perks have more clearly defined pre-reqs, like Head On, Lithe, Balanced, and why you have limited control over the scenario in which you can use them. If things like Exhaustion perks didn't exist, and breakable walls didn't exist, then something like Bloodlust wouldn't be required to exist, either. But that is the game we play and I wouldn't ever expect them to change, I just think there was a point a lot of issues in this game (cough anti-loop killers cough) could've been dealt with, not made worse.

  • This game has far more players than it used to and most people simply never learned how to play against a Nurse. They don't want to learn, they want to yell she's unbeatable, even though every "god tier Nurse" out there is just as mediocre as they are at survivor. It's hard if they're good and you're not SWF, but can be hard in general. People don't want to learn how to waste enough of a Nurse's time that they'll lose if you spread out on gens and each run her just long enough. Harder still if they tunnel and you've no BT/DS.

While survivors were still potatoes 4-5 years ago, a pool of 10k players and a small playerbase that often ran into the same players at R1 had far more quality, and skill, of survivors who knew how to play against a Nurse as much as the Nurse could play that killer. Granted, there were things like vacuum pallets

  • @Sluzzy said:

Because something is used doesn't mean it needs a change or nerfed. It needs to be looked at why it is used and perhaps make perks similar to it. The player has control over the perk, and it is fun to use. It is nowhere as powerful as Overcome or Sprint Burst but those perks simply are automatic and not as enticing to use. But killers, like yourself, blows the usage and power of DH completely out of proportion.

It reminds me why Demogorgon loves to use Save the Best for Last. He has control over the perk giving him a very powerful edge. Why are you not wanting that perk nerfed?

By your admission, because it is used a lot, slow down perks need a very heavy and large nerf hammer because they are "spammed" in every game.

They are literally buffing two killers in the next patch. Survivors are getting no buffs of any kind which is baffling. So many perks that could be buffed but all the focus is on killers.

Arguing something needs to be changed because it is used a lot isn't a good argument for anything, but there's plenty of reasons for why Dead Hard should be nerfed with actual reasoning. But, some people seem to prefer to ignore those reasons and, equally, focus on the one thing that makes no sense, which is "because it's used a lot" Two equally dumb arguments. And no one complained about Demo using STBFL because, all things considered, it still didn't make him that strong. After they made changes to him, people actually stopped running the perk on him - so they went after the killers power itself rather than the perk. You certainly don't see many Demo's these days.

And I guess you missed the patches before this one that did focus on survivors and their perks. I guess the real baffling part is thinking if one side gets buffs or nerfs, the other side has to or they just hate x and y is OP

  • Boons, Dead Hard, and MMR made me quit. Well, there are things like map design and balance as a whole. I haven't played in about 8 months. Discovered a ton of new fun games that I enjoy, that never make me feel the frustrations and unfun that DBD constantly made me feel, despite the fun I often had. I still follow the game and watch people play it, but seeing so many of the people I used to watch play killer only play survivor, and constantly complain about killer, and even complain as a survivor, is just depressing.

I'm sure plenty of people have different reasons. I used to always come back to DBD, but I haven't and I don't miss it a single bit. I think both sides have so many unfun things they have to deal with at this point/

  • Demands a nerf, provides zero explanation or justification. All you need to know about how moronic and troll bait this suggestion is.

  • He's a great turn your brain off killer

  • Sometimes it's more engaging to lose and enter chases, than to win by doing nothing. Of course, if all you care about is winning, then playing LF and camping the first person out of the game, while using perks that benefit it + NOED is probably a grand time.

  • I remember getting this upset over BM when I was in junior high and playing Halo 2/3. Someone teabagging my corpse made me really upset. But then I grew up and I realized that it's just a game and it's childish.

BMing exists and isn't bannable in plenty of games. I can spray someones corpse in Overwatch, I can tip someone when they die to me in Dota 2, I can shoot someones body in CSGO. Growing up is a very simple solution, but the even more simpler one is to try to be a bit more of an adult, that is to say don't BM and be a dick.
