  • You got some meta value out of Pentimento: in this case the meta knowledge of the survivors made them not wanna deal with -30% gen efficiency, so they opted to stay blind and possibly injured.

Overconfidence is a slow and Insidious killer.

Sometimes the cure is worse then the disease, but never the less, you got good value out of your perks.

  • The worst part is, that someone like Trickster gets left hanging. The PTB made him feel awesome and of course overtuned, but no one could guess tat BUVR would revert basically every single buff and turn him into an extremely lackluster version of himself, either barely any tangible change with you knowing that that's it and no more changes are coming any time soon, what we got is his final form. And that's his ultimate form.

  • Mostly true, but hexes are also not good enough in general to warrant such high risk for such mediocre reward, besides Devour and Plaything/Pentimento/Face the Darkness.

Boons and Hexes could use a complete rework

  • Insidious: the shadows beckon the killer and wrap around them like a friend, guiding them through little understood path to their pray.

While standing still for 12/10/8s and being unobserved, the killer is teleported to an unobserved spot on the map 16m away from a random survivor. Working on a gen/performing a healing action/opening a chest increases thy likelihood that you are teleported to. After he teleport, the killer sees the survivors aura for 3s. The perk has a 120s cooldown and starts the trial with a 1min cooldown. The perk is disabled in EGC or when only one survivor is left in the trial.

I know that I won't be getting my money back, but I was under the impression that buying the iron maiden shirt for female and male survivors would make it available for all survivors of that gender like some dbd mobile skins. I bought one just off the featured tab with that line kf thinking and now it's locked to a survivor I don't play. I wasted my money and I might be a bozo but it would've been nice to have a disclaimer. Please add one for my other brothas out there.

Same happened to me and I am a 2600h veteran player. I just didn't know that they would feature just one of the shirts and change it after every purchase. I don't know if the sequence is fixed, but I got Kate and Jeff, two characters who are associated with music and metal, so it kinda made sense that you could buy their respective shirts.

Its a real bummer, but well, it is what it is.

artist the problem is that 98% of people play her in the most boring ways imaginable her gameplay is actually pretty scary when it’s someone who is very good with her

I always try to shoot at gens with two crows 7s of walking apart. It mostly never works, but when it does, it scares the living daylights out of survivors.

  • Iridescent Forgotten Video Tape: this tape oozes a disturbing aura and the air in the same room with it feels thick and cloing, like a wet blanket trying to suffocate a would-be-viewer. It shows footage of an Executioner of another time, a true master swordsman who could swing the giant cleaver effortlessly through the air and even ground.

Effect: for 60s total The Executioner can use his punishment of the damned smooth and swift, like his predecessor from a place called PTB. Once the time is up, this add-on deactivates for the rest of the trial.

I wouldn't go that far on the last part. Chuckys might be a bit better since he mostly has the same control as pig. And if the survivor predrops or vaults he can follow and hit. But pretty close.

Fair,I nearly forgot about him, even though I play him a lot :D

Best power in class is always hard to determine with certainty, but at least she is suddenly a contender.

  • @monochromeworld Duuuuude, take a chill pill. We get it, your raison d'etre was to pop heads with Pig and I am somewhat sorry for you personally (*hint hint* that's called Empathy. Try it out once in a while), but Pigs traps were 99% mostly there to provide slowdown, and they provided awesome slowdown.

I would recon that Pigs most fun playstyle was coin-flip AFK Box guarding while roaring at survivors, but I can still see the wisdom of nuking that playstyle. With a bit of polish Pig now has the best charge attack power in the game.

Yeah, I could say the same thing about survivors. That might be true for a select few individua players but that doesn't change the fact that killers lose 3 gens in 90 seconds and will tunnel the first person out immediately.

Neither killers nor survivors know how their opponent will play in a match until they see it. And if they play "nice" until their opponent doesn't, then they'll lose. This is why I stopped ignoring the first survivor I hooked. Having one guy on 2nd stage early allows me to play a lot more ruthless, if I have to and turn the match around as a result.

Games are so fast paced these days that you literally can't drive slowly and then shift gears when things turn south, you either slam in hard mode from the start, or you are at the whim of your opponents.

And sometimes, after eating dirt for 3 games in a row, on their forth the killer might go "extra spicy" from the start and you might just sit at the receiving end and smh why someone would camp and tunnel at 5 gens, while MMR things "huh, that's strange. Better throw them a bully squad next to cool them off"

We always just see snapshots of the players dbd day.

  • Check this video out of someone who isn't theory crafting, but putting the new changes up to the test.

I must say, I was pretty miffed after reading the changes, but this looks pretty promising.

  • One evening I played about 10 games with The Twins. May have skewed the data of several survivors and messed up their games as many were not prepared

  • I am really bummed that I have to buy am Iron Maiden shirt for every character. I thought it would be one shirt for the girls, one for the boys, and I didn't pay too much attention that they were character bound.

"Kates Iron Maiden shirt" and "Jeff's Iron Maiden shirt" also made so much sense, because they were the characters that had ties to music or the metal scene. But I am not buying any more shirts, that's a real bummer.

I would love universal cosmetic that could be used by all characters, right now especially event cosmetics are a roll of HD dice if one of your favourite characters can use if, lucky you if you play Feng, Meg or Nea. This would make playing the more obscure characters more fun without cutting into the others "outfit budget" and creating wasted outfits that no-one will ever use.

Shared outfits shouldn't be the vast majority, but I think that they would be awesome for the headliner event cosmetic.

  • Unironically I like this idea. Maybe it shouldn't be totally free, though, but there could be a boarded up hole at the long wall without a window and survivor's would need 20s or so to remove the boards and use that secondary entry into the basement. But of course, the stairs stay the only exit.

I like the idea that survivors are adapting, they have been trapped in this realm for years now, and died a thousand deaths. By now they have found ways to utilise the killers hiding place for their own survival (best looping spot in the game), devised ways to commune with The Entity that calls it home (Sables perks) thus making it a dangerous resource, and found secret ways in... but it will never be a friendly place, but a place where friends die if they don't act fast and decisively.

  • I think you can also buy her with Shards, it's a 2 years old event skin.

  • Wow, what a thread. Postage like this are incredible, because they offer perspectives from players who have put in thousands of hours and know ins and outs that even the devs might be clueless about.

i dont care much about the kill and lose rates.

I care that we are losing to nonstop to stacking gen regression on a top 5 killers on a daily basis

I care about the non-stop tunneling that is happening

I dont care if we(survivors) win/lose as long as we are having fun, it is that we are losing to the 2 things listed on top that are making matches unfun

killers are the sole reason i(soloq) cant have fun and must run meta perks.

:insert killer: oh but that 1 group out of 15 (really good)games really hurt my feelings because i couldnt 4k them.

This one I can get fully behind. Having no restriction to perks and builds has been a core of DBD since its introduction of perks, but by now it weights and holds the game back more then it gives players "ultimate build freedom".

Why not do a new perk class "regression perks" and "gen repair perks" and give a cap of 2. Easy as pie. The problem with the top 5 killers is a bit more complicated, though. Basically every single time BHVR buffed a weak killer, there was a big outcry and uproar about it, the buffs got reversed and nothing really changed. Like yeah, the full suit of Trickster buffs at that PTB some time ago was a bit much and way overtuned, no one denied that, but what we got out of the other side was barely worth the effort and did nothing to make Trickster any more fun to play, unless you were already really into him.

Maybe its time to give everyone 10 build points and factor perk colors into the mix, something like purple = 4pts, green = 2pts, yellow = 1pt. Super strong combos like Grim Embrace + DMS or Buckle Up/FTP could be penalized with +1pt cost and/or certain meta perks could also get a point increase. THis would lead to much more build variety then people just running whats meta at the moment.

Lastly, just plainly restrict certain perks for certain killer. When Awakened Awareness came out it got hard nerfed, because Nurse was so disgustingly busted by it. Same with Star Struck which lead to the standing term Star Struck Nurse. Just don't let Nurse pick this two perks and you suddenly got a whole new dimension that this perks could be puffed or played around with. Or when Thanatophobia got completely gutted because of two killers and now this two killers are the only ones worth running it on, because its worthless on everyone else.

And then we got some utterly tone deaf decisions like nerfing Freddy of all killers, and taking away his only real clever play he got, IE placing pools of blood over walls. I know that he is next in line for a rework, but dayum, this was a resounding slap in the face for everything Freddy.

Tunneling. Well, I personally have written whole books about tunneling and how and why its in the game and theories on how to fix it. I belive that my solutions could work, but really, there are literally a thousand others on the pages of this forum, BHVR just needs to cherry pick and polish the idea. Tunneling is really not fun for the receiving end, but the alternative would be a big, phat debuff for the player on death hook, because right now the killer gains nothing for keeping a survivor on death hook alive, but can easily get burned by their ability to just hold M1 on a gen as good as everyone else.

Also, MMR is keeping things way too strict. Once you win a couple of games, you are in the sweat mines, either sweat or be rediculed to the max, there is no in between, and once you chose sweat, there is hardly any way back.

Lastly, do away with de-pipping entirely. I know for a fact that a lot of my personal sweatting comes from de-pipping. When I am at 4 pips of five and a cute survivor gives up, I might not actually give them hatch, because I got burned so bad in the past by the pipping system. Do away with de-pipping and let everyone play anyway they like for the whole 30 days, not just the last week.

I really wish we can have a permanent mode. No gens, just hide and loop. Survivors can sabotage each other since it’ll be Everyman for himself. When there is one survivor left, hatch spawns and whoever gets to it first, wins.

BTW, had you seen this one here? The prob hunt mode on DBD mobile?

if you do it in early game and complete the ritual. You gain 95sec of Gen that split into 7 Gens. The better way to spend 120sec is to complete 1 Gen by yourself. Not mention the ultimate downside of Broken.

If you do it in late game with 1-2 Gen remaining (3-4 Gen not complete). You gain ~40sec of Gen that split to 3-4 Gens. Why should you spend 120sec for that???

I rather to make you do the ritual for 30sec then gain a Brown toolbox with a BNP.

I think part of the invocations "advantage" is the meta-mindgame behind it. The killer hasn't seen a certain survivor all game, are they just hiding or are they completing 95s of gen time, just because the killer is too chicken to lose 30s walking to the shack and checking the basement? What if its a SWF and they all leave gens at 85% completion, to maximise on the impact? A survivor in the basement is vulnerable, but only if they are there. Its the Schrödingers-Survivor dilemma for the killer, with a survivor down there juxtaposed in the two states of hooked and scott-free above; its maddening. They can leave the thus entangled survivor down there or open the box and look themselves, but they risk giving the survivor free progress on gens and wasting a lot of time either way.

With courtesy to you, my honored @C3Tooth , I hope you don't mind that I borrowed one of your designs to illustrate a point.

    Sable_schroedinger.jpg

  • We could touch immovable pillars of DBD, that were once set as hard boundaries. I will try to violate two of the most important such rules in one Invocation, because thats what magick does, it doesn't care about the rules of reality and bends and breaks them at its whim.

"Invocation: Its Alive!" 120s, once this invocation is complete one dead survivor gets resurrected, but there is a price to pay: one already finished gen gets broken again and all gens on the map lose all progress.

  • The Crux will always be this: a survivor on deathhook can just as efficiently hold M1 on a gen then a fresh one, and 4 survivors are too strong and efficient in slamming that last 2 gens that so often are left after the first or second chase.

Going after a fresh survivor at 2 gens left is literally against the killers best interests and shooting themselves in the foot by doing so. Yet tunneling is not fun, but gens fly so fast these days that the killer is most often backed against the wall. Either play hard and mean and win at 4 gens left, or drop down to 2 and then quickly 0 and lose big time. The games in the middle are more outliers.

Of course, the gen kick meta showed that some killers will always tunnel, no matter what, and this pressure led to both sides internalising playing as efficient as possible: for survivors those means splitting up and always pressuring multiple gens and for killers it means tunneling one or two survivors and possibly camping and forcing hook stages.

I always advocate for secondary Objectives, for survivors this used to be boons, now invocations could fit the bill, for killers we should reintroduce the old BBQ style BP bonus, but only increase the counter as long as all survivors are still alive. I am also mostly against base-kit perks, but I think that a mini BBQ, that only showed yet unhooked survivors, would peel killers from hooks and showed then opportunities.

  • Cheaters are a real plague. I don't play them too often, but when they tend to wrack and ruin the game pretty hard. AFAIK you need some solid evidence of cheating for BHRV to bust them, which normally would entail video footage. Due to the way DBD was programmed it seems to be impossible to implement an intern match review system, which is sad, but we won't change anything by complainting ^_-

But at least the report system works if the other side harasses you. I hope I am not breaking any rules with this, if so, dear mods, it wasn't meant in mean spirit, but just educational and maybe uplifting. During one of my last games I had a pretty tough match, they nearly got 3 man out, but then altruism killed the cat and some clever gameplay of me even cut the last one. The post game chat was salty, but mostly harmless banter and back and forth wrestling-style trashtalk, till two of the survivors turned pretty ugly in their parting statements.

    20240215235937_1.jpg

Well, one player mocked me for threatening to report him and his companion and said that the devs never do anything. Well 5 days later, I logged in to this :>

    20240221172951_1.jpg

Some say that reporting is petty and does nothing, but this two bullies at least got some sort of action taken against them. So please, don't report meaningles stuff, but if you got a true case, just go ahead and report them. Its the only way to curb the most blatant toxic behaviour.

  • Thats the spirit! But tell me for whom the bells toll?

  • Frankly, we don't know. With survivor and killer cosmetics we know that they will eventually find their way into the shop about a year later or that seasonal offerings return in their, well, season. The notable exeption here seem to be the deep rift recolors, which seem to be also a one and done affair, to make them a bit more special.

With charms we know, that they are the rarest of stuff and you basically only get one shot at getting them. But charms are also so obiquitous that it doesn't really matter.

But with banners and plaques we have no idea; they aren't around for very long and there hasn't been enough time between them disappearing and any feasable offerings them at the shop. So the chance is there, but don't hold your breath for the immedate future.

Can anyone give a quick summary on what the major changes/ meta shifts have been and how to play vs the new killers?

I hope she gets cosmetics that are more casual and grounded, though. A lot of the female survivors (and now some of the males too) get full-on fashion show cosmetics that have always felt out of place to me. I want outfits that look like someone picked them out of a clothing store that doesn't cost $1000+.

The problem is this would just create a new meta side perk slot. People would just pick the best of the available options in that slot and it would also require the devs to have to build a list of acceptable perks for the slot and keeping it updated as the meta changes.

Of course, any restricted set of options will invariably create a meta, but I am just brainstorming an idea that coudl still sorta work. Bloodhound is not a bad tracking perk, but there are literally 50 better options to put into any perk slot, probably more. Red Hering is a fun perk that can occasionally totally mess with the killer and make them waste a ton of time searching around a gen that just exploded, but ehhh ... there are quite literally hundreds of better options to put into any perk slot. But if you got only Red Hering, Self Preservation, Poise and Troubleshooter, well maybe you would try it out, just for fun.

Its skin may be other survivors default skins...

It would be cool if we could unlock different survivors as skins, by mori-ing them a certain number of times ... but I guess that ship sunk irretrivable. So Dwight will do. Oh and its probably Nea who is the actual Unknown. We all know that she is pure evil.

If they're buffing Blight, Huntress, etc., it's most likely because the people you see on YouTube pulling nasty flicks, shots, winning 80 games in a row, etc., are in the vast minority. The reality is that most Blight and Huntress players perform averagely, and even worse in lower MMR games. A god Huntress won't even notice the 5 to 7 hatchet carrying capacity increase, but your average Joe who plays every few days will have more breathing room to practice.

We 100% know that they don't make changes based solely on stats; otherwise, SM would be getting nerfed to the ground, and Nurse would be getting at least 2 buffs per update. And the truth is, the balancing team has been doing solid work lately, so if they're buffing what, on paper, are strong killers (like Huntress), it's because the average player base isn't utilizing them in an OP way.

Very level-headed and measured assessment. I am not sure if that is allowed in this forum, as its neither killer nor survivor biased, but I guess we will let it fly for the time being.

  • On topic though: yeah, an unconditional 5th slot were busted, but I sometimes muse if we could give peeps (not just killers) a conditioned extra slot for some sort of weak sauce support perk, like the perks that no one got ever room for in their builds, but that are still somehow nice to have, just totally off meta.

This support perks could also rotate weekly, thus giving another avenue to keep the game a bit fresh. Imagine occasionally having bloodhound or Reactive healing as an extra, just for fun and spice

This should have been a thing since the start to be honest. And depending on the Killer, you have more or less points to spend (e.g. a Nurse should only be able to run Meme-Perks and bad Perks, a Clown should have access to more points for more better Perks).

But it is way too late now for this.

    @Topic:

A 5th Perk Slot for Killer is out of question. This was asked a few times over the years, but it would be highly imbalanced. And with at least 60% Killrate for quite a bunch of Killers, I dont really see the need to buff them even more.

They could still implement a point system, like every one got 10pts, a purple perk costs 4pts, a green 2pts, a yellow 1pts, so most likely a loadout had 2 purple, 2 yellow or 1 purple 3 green. Meta perks or special combos (FTP+Buckle Up, for example) could coat extra.

This is just a quick and dirty sketch, but something like this would probably still be doable and also make the perk levels 1 and 2 not only a thing of the first 50h of the game, before fading into oblivion.

  • I am an avid horror fan and the more bloody and gruesome, the merrier, but I know that we are not all build the same. One of my swf-ers is super squeamish and she can't stand Singularities mori, for example.

So a list in the accessibility tap where you can uncheck certain killers mori would make the game more enjoyable for a lot of people.

I've actually been wondering if the creature we see in-game is using a 'Dwight' outfit. It's pretty similar, and we know The Realms involve multiverses due to Haddie's lore. It would be nice to see if this is the case, with future skins being the others.

I have been musing this myself, if The Unknown is Dwight lost to The Entity, devoid of any hope. The visuals are there and with a bit of work all perks can be seen as corrupted version of base Dwight:

The perk that damages and blocks gens is corrupted Proof Thyself

The perk that allows it to quickly follow a survivor through windows is corrupted Bond.

The perk that scares survivors away from gens exuding a terror radius is corrupted Leader.

It all makes sense. Maybe we will get couple of other corrupted skins of survivors, but poor Dwight makes a lot of sense. He was been through so much.

I am completely fine with people disagreeing on this. That is good thing because it leads to a discussion. At the end of the day I don't want them to give her the Freddy treatment or delete her from the game. I just want her to be a more fleshed out and healthy version of herself because even though I dislike her design very much, I think it has a lot of potential.

Maybe we can work something out together and post it to the feedback section (send me a DM, if you're insterested). I don't want to hate her anymore (it gets tiring but I also cannot tolerate her current state), so I'd love to give them some suggestions. Almost every part of her has something that is genuinely good and can be reused in a rework but her current version is a mess. There are too many things in there and none of them feel fully fleshed out.

I'd love for them to go a darker route with this killer, focus more on her degeneration. It could start as a means for her to capitalise with her company but slowly she starts enjoying the hunt and loses herself in this feeling. Her competitive nature could push her to come up with ever more deadly designs for her gear and eventually she would start experimenting on herself. The mask could be a part of her head, designed to increase her cognitive capacities and allow her to track her prey and control her drones without effort. The weapon could be attached to an exoskeleton which is directly connected to her spinal cord.

Instead of having multiple drones, she could have one drone that she can control freely. It would allow her to scout survivors in the distance and mark them for a potential anti loop power. Or she gets multiple drones that can patrol a set route (similar to Knight's guards).

I always feel sad that her clawtraps are so hard to spread and apply. A big part of her kit is that scanner of hers, but most of the time, when you look at it, its empty and you can't use it. Claw traps have a very limited uptime and you can't really control when you apply them, so maybe that part of her kit chould be strengthened and the random damage be ditched.

Doctor is another killer with constant info and countering stealth, so SM could do another angle at this concept via manually targetting survivors and having info on their whereabouts for later.

  • You guys are somewhat right, but I think its more or less the accumulated detritus of years of "survivor handholding". During the leadup to 6.1 in June 2022, survivors power was at an all-time hight, they were utter fearless, could mock the killer at every opportunity, do everything they want right in front of the killer and due to multiple layers of 2nd chance perks and other mechanics live to tell the tale and, most important, 4 guys twerk at the exit gates.

Since then much has changed and while I claimed for the longest time that survivor were always the power role, I am inclined to see that BHVR has got their bearing and brought the fear of the killer back into the game, at least partial. God loopers still exist, and they are so perfect in their execution that they are neight impossible to catch during normal gameplay. But MMR normally sees to it that such god loopers are paired with potatoe loopers and if the killer can identify this fast enough, the god loopers won't affect the game too much.

Now I think the biggest problem is that BHVR never officially determined what is a win or loss, while inofficially 3+ kills are seen as a killer win, 3+ escape a survivor win, with everything in between a draw. And everyone knows that its much easier to juggle 3 survivors contra 4, which lead to the raise of tunneling that we see these days.

BHVR has done nothing, literally NOTHING, to incentivice killers to spread hooks and NOT kill a survivor asap. Something like old BBQs BP bonus as basekit could help, with the added conditon that the bonus only increase if all survivors are still alive, thus postponing the tunneling of the first survivor till at least 3 different survivors are hooked, but the basegame punishes killers by playing "fair". Keeping a survivor on deathhook alive and not finish them off will alway come back to bite them, as a survivor on deathhook can just as well hold M1 on a gen.

I don't know how BHVR can tackle this systems, but they should devise a system that doesn't shot killers in the foot by keeping the survivors alive and spreading hooks, but somehow rewards them. Increasing gen time would not be fun, but maybe some "Entity excited" system: by spreading hooks and increasing "despair and fear" the killer gets shown the auras of survivors not on deathhook yet. The game is always a race against the clock.

But back to survivors perks: the tragedy of modern DBD is that survivors are very strong at basekit. If a survivor is a god looper, they can loop the killer nearly indefinitely by running tiles perfectly even without perks. The game is somewhat balanced around the fact that a survivor will inevitable go down evntually, but thats not true for very good loopers. So every single perk that helped in this regard was okay with the mid-skilled survivors and helped them extend a chase a little bit longer or get to another tile, but it made playing god-loopers a chore and nearly impossible. DH, MFT, FTP+BuckleUP all made playing killer absolutely misserable, because you basically had no chance to ever catch a really good survivor, unless you threw the game and went for Bloodlust 3 TWICE.

MFT was the most fun survivors had in the last couple of years, because it was an exciting perk that allowed to extend chases and just get to that next pallet, but it was fundamentally breaking the ballence and thus is felt extremely punishing and bitter for survivors, when it was nerfed into oblivion and taken away. I really don't have a solution, but nearly everything that gives survivors a tangible leg up in a chase has the potential to utterly break the game. Maybe we need perks that modify and change certain base mechanics, but always leave some room for the killer to catch up. Or create more diversions; that perk that lets you throw pebbles or generate a fake notification at a locker all are good ideas, but never work as effective as others perks, which is a shame; I think clever games and mindgames like this should be more prevalent then just getting a bonus to looping. I could also see a bird charmer perk that allows the survivor to startle bids accross the map, for example.

  • For real, while doing his challenges in the new tome I got bodyblocked twice by the unhooked survivor keeping the chain on their unhooker in place. There was nothing I could do and that felt so aweful. At least I held true to my own rulebook and saw this as an open invitation to tunnel them, because it was quite apparent that they valued sick plays over their own savety and resetting.

I didn't knew that you could bodyblock to this extend, luckily I got all his challenges done, but I wouldn't want to main him at this point.

  • I feel ya! Just earlier tonight I curved around a rock. A ROCK on Ormont. And some bushes on Garden of Joy. Felt so unreal, in the past Garden of Joy was a surefire way to have an aweful match, especially with Billy bumping into everything, but this match was such a down fest and after the DC within 2min I made friends with the other survivors and farmed a bit and hitting them with a couple more sick curves, but only 2 hooking everyone ^^ Once in a while this is a fun diversion from the normal gameplay loop.

How often does it happen that killer hit right after unhook? That depends:

When you dont have OTR: Never

When you do have ORT: Always

The difference are Grunts of pain.

Its the law. Same as with Deliverance, equipping this perk is the only way know to mankind to ensure that you will be the first survivor found and hooked.
