Simple answer - you make it stressful. If you don't mind, it don't matter - but if you just have to have that 4k every game, then yeah...it's going to be stressful because you placed that criteria on your performance. And with all the RNG in this game that is a road to madness.

And this is why I decided to set an easier to obtain goal for myself - every session I play as killer, I have a 'quota' of a 1 kill average across my killer matches (ex.: I usually play 4 or 8 killer games, so my 'quota' is 4 to 8 kills across all those games).

  • The general consensus seems to be in terms of hierarchy, from least powerful to most it goes like this: Solo queue survivor -> killer -> swf -> swf on coms -> swf on coms w/ OoO.

I know people generalize swf together, I just had to make the distinction.

Now as killer, in those rare situations with the last two it seems (which may seem more common at red ranks, but that might just be the stream rips that TrueTalent posts), there's a lot going against you. The killers are also not built equal. Some are weaker than others, so unless you're playing the best of the best killers with the best perks, it is a stressful time.

In the more common instances of solo queue and just normal swf, I have seen plenty of coordinated solos being good and non-full swfs being good too. I'm rambling here, so I'll get to the point.

The reason why survivor seems easier than killer is there's not as much going against you as opposed to killer. I think it really boils down to player skill though for survivors. Swfs on coms and Object can't save you if you're bad at the video game.

  • Not every game is gonna be like that. I have to remind myself of that sometimes when I run headfirst into the same pitfall.

  • Talked with one of my mates about this bug issue, and so far for me it worked okay with Billy on the killer side (I think) and Nea for the survivor side. Here's what he said verbatim: "OK So what they SHOULD do is A Extend the rift cause people have this bug. And B Give you whatever the currency is in a large amount to apologize for this bug."

  • Ace in the Hole for survivor. Being able to keep your add-ons is something I really like when I have a good item brought into a trial or if I find a good setup. Combo this with Plunderer's and you'll find some sweet loot.

  • Spoilers for Danganronpa but

Mukuro Ikusaba. The sixteenth student, lying hidden somewhere in this school. The one they call the Ultimate Despair. Watch out for her.

I've even dreamt up a concept of her as a killer with help from a friend of mine who plays the game. Dubbed, The Fenrir.

    Weapon: Combat Knife

    Movement Speed: 4.6m/s (115%) (normal stance)/4.4 m/s (110%) (defensive stance)

    Terror Radius: 32 meters

    Height: Medium

Ability: Mukuro has two stances, a normal stance and a defensive stance. Press Left Control (or whatever it is on the console versions) to switch between stances. It takes 0.5s to switch stances. In Normal Stance

    4.6 m/s movement speed

Press M2 for a lunging attack similar to Demogorgon’s

Slightly increased cooldown on missed attacks

    Slightly increased window vaulting speed

    In Defensive Stance

    4.4 m/s movement speed

Pressing M2 at the right timing will prevent a pallet drop and stun

Slightly decreased cooldown on missed attacks

    Slightly decreased window vaulting speed

    Perks

Battle Trance: When pushed to your limits, your mind goes on auto-pilot, making your speed and reflexes increase. When Tier 1 of Bloodlust activates, your attack speed and lunge range increases by 5/10/15%. Does not stack with like perks. (Level 30 perk)

Hex: Sadism: A hex rooting its power on despair. When a generator is completed, earn a token. For each token, survivors’ healing and repair speed is reduced by 3/6/9%. Stacks up to three tokens. Effects do not stack with similar perks. The effects persist as long as the hex totem is still active. (Level 35 perk) (Definitely going to replace this with something else fyi, not sure what though)

Deception: You've immersed yourself amongst your peers and tricked them into thinking you are an ally. After hooking a Survivor, gain the Undetectable status effect for 20/30/40 seconds or until you take an offensive action. (Level 40 perk)

  • Have a couple assorted instances of heartwarming moments. Both from PC and Switch.

-Any time a high rank player was kind to me as a low rank killer when I played on PC. One streamer who did quite well against me as Pig told me to 'keep at it, you'll get there' when I went to give props after the match.

-One survivor willingly stayed behind to die and let me get points after I had a rough match.

-Something I do when all the gens are done (and only when all the gens are done) is camp the guy I have on hook and make a little game out of it. A memorable instance of this was when I played Ghostyboi on PC, where a survivor duo, a Billiam and Tapp with flashlight with their powers combined get Quentin off the hook and all three escape. In postgame I say 'Let this match be living proof that you can beat facecamping', and give props to a job well done. They clearly appreciated the kudos.

-On Switch I was on Torment Creek with a presumably 3 man bulli squad facing off against Demogorgon. At one point they tried to get me in on the action and knowing what they were up to, refused and was more focused on doing the gens. I think the killer knew I wasn't with them so after closing the hatch after offing them, the Demogorgon player didn't even bother to check the gate I escaped from.

-Also on Switch, playing against Le Ghostyboi when I was suffering from some really bad lag. They let me have hatch when I was the last one alive.

This has happened to me very frequently on the Switch. Pretty much every game. I down a survivor, take them to a hook, doesn't work, they get away. This has cost me so many kills for people dead on hook and it basically ruins any chance of getting a kill during the endgame collapse. A hotfix is most certainly needed. Hopefully we'll see one soon enough.

Fellow Switch player here. Never in my life have I been so frustrated by a bug in my entire life. And I've heard horror stories of SWFs abusing this with the 'Can't Hook Me' builds.

The only real solution I can think of is slugging and letting them bleed out because it happens so much with me I basically can't play killer unless I want to use Billy, Oni, or Spirit to help with the slugging thing. I have also had survivors BM because they were handed an escape on a silver platter because of a bug.

I've always been willing to give the devs the benefit of the doubt, because this happens. Bugs slip in through the cracks when developing new content or working on a game. But this? Please, for the love of the Entity, fix this as soon as humanly possible, because I want to play both sides, and I can't do that when this bug pretty much screws me out of having a fair chance as killer.

  • Switch user here - the hook bug is happening so frequently it basically gives survivors free killer grasp escapes. Prevents me from getting hooks and kills and needs to be fixed immediately.

  • Yeah, this happened to me a few times during my matches on Switch tonight playing as the new guy. First time it happened I thought the guy I couldn't hook was cheating or something, but then it happened in the next match and I was like 'Yup, this is a new bug'. I was too busy having fun with Pinball Wizard to care, so yeah.

This is one of the weakest complaints I've see so far.

Anyone who has played a tactical RPG (myself for example) will tell you we don't like to leave things up to chance, we want the most guaranteed things we can get our hands on. This chance of the hatch to spawn in either location, while I haven't seen the numbers yet, is not worth it.

  • Sometimes the 'meta' won't work for everyone, which is why I'd prefer to find a set of perks or different builds that work for me and that I'm comfortable using rather than use what everyone else is using.

  • Now I'm not calling all survivors who play her as toxic, but this kind of behavior is more stereotyped with Yui.

  • @NekoGamerX said:

why does pips matter to people?I don't get it.

False self-validation. It's like GSP in Smash - both of which can be gained by cheese.

  • I don't stream snipe, though if I have a TTVer who is live in my game when playing killer, I like to go find the part of their vod with my match in it so I can see their perspective and analyze what I did well and what went wrong so I can improve myself. What I do like is that there's a variety of setups - solo queue, duo, or the full 4 man squads.

As far as toxicity goes, I only ever remember one time I went up against a full 4 man on coms as Trapper on Wretched Shop. That match I was running Padded Jaws (my reasoning is that if survivors realize I have Padded Jaws, they may be more willing to step in my traps, which gets me and the survivors more BP - in the matches I've used them in, it's worked surprisingly enough, not all the time) and a Trapper Sack. They weren't particularly good, with the streamer saying he wanted to 'help' by farming with me (after he pallet stunned me, I assumed he was going to be the chase bait, so I took him seriously), a green rank Ace player looping around shack where the streamer was hooked, a No Mither David looting a chest behind where I hooked him, getting called a virgin for bringing the Kate player to the basement (the most chill of the four, I assumed she was solo queue and wanted to mainly kill off the Ace for screwing the streamer over with his looping choices), and the cherry on top, being called a [Bad Word] for using BBQ of all things. The best part is they didn't think to bring me to the shop on that map, which at the time was one of the strongest looping locations in the game. I think that's ultimately what cost them - I got a 3k and let the Kate escape through hatch after getting a bit more BP out of her via traps.

Well, it's difficult because I'm a highly altruistic player. My favorite perks are usually For the People or We'll Make it & empathy. So if a killer chases one person for the entire match and refuses to swap targets and can't catch that one person then.... ?? I can't get altrusim points, I can't get chase points because they won't chase me, all I can do is do generators with the time given and leave.

That would explain it...it is unfortunate when that happens, yes, but I'm guessing this was just a one match occurrence? Not every match is going to be like that one with the Wraith - at least I hope not.

  • The strange thing is, I had a prediction some time ago that someone would make this complaint inevitably. Guess I was right. I don't really mind pips or rank all that much in game, so if I didn't pip, I either didn't do much that trial or didn't do a good enough job to get higher quality emblems.

That said, I've had plenty of matches where I went unchased and didn't get a Chaser emblem whatsoever. I never once thought it was the killer's fault because of that, that was more on me, but then again I'm not the kind of player who is confident enough in my abilities to actively seek the killer out for a chase or two.

Very fun to go up against...

2 of them were back to back.

A mori is just a free depip everytime.

I want to play a normal match, not the length of a quarter of one.

I cant wait for the mori rework, it should at least include hooking every survivor at least once.

Im here to have fun, not win every game, going against something like a mori ruins the experience.

All the moris i get at red ranks is ridiculous. No one cares if you win or lose, lets just play an actual match and dont immediately tunnel someone out the game.

Today I had two in the eight survivor matches (as Nea) I played today, and it was the real duality of Moris.

First one was a Myers player on Family Residence, and despite him having NOED on top of the Ebony Mori, he was surprisingly fair with it and only Mori-ing when we were on death hook. He even let me wiggle out and get the exit gate...only to pop Tier 3 and THEN Mori. I couldn't help but laugh at that. He was also pretty decent at killer too, so there was that. (BTW, hot take: If you're playing Myers, NOED is a bit redundant)

The other one was a Trapper player who wasn't as fair, Mori-ing off hooks. One guy DC'd, which I assume was a ragequit. The only difference between this guy and the Myers player, aside from killer choice, was this guy had a good build (Corrupt, Thrilling, and two other perks I can't recall off the top my head with a Stitched Bag and Tar Bottle), but he whiffed me a couple times with me just using trees and no loops. Didn't even do the 'Hill Basement' trick (trapping a hill with a trap) when I got hooked. So eventually, when I was the last one left, I decided to willingly go into a trap and let him have his kill, because I had my fill of someone making my boi look like trash. Also didn't help that the other three survivors I was with were magnets to his bear traps.

I had this happen when I played on my sister's Xbox. This was my third match at her house and this was on Disturbed Ward. I have no idea how I managed to get a 4k here. Maybe they were just boosted?

Yeah this always amazes me, in games where I've had to AFK (doorbell, explosive diarrhea, etc.) I've almost always come back to survivors either flashlight blinding me over and over, or standing in front of me t-bagging over and over.

It's like something disconnects in their brain and they think "oh no, the killer isn't trying, that means when I win I won't be able to gloat about how much better I am, no Mr. killer, please come back so I can show my dominance more!"

The most hilarious one was when I was playing Legion and had to AFK and came back to a Kate t-bagging in front of me, while the exit gates were open, thing was we were pretty far and her teammates had already left, so I jumped into frenzy and hit her then ran ahead towards the doors, ended frenzy, downed her, and then hooked her, no teammates to help her so she died on hook. The rage was actually nourishing to my soul lol.

    That's awesome XD

I remember one time playing as Trapper (my main) on Haddonfield, and there was this Laurie player constantly trying to get my attention. I assumed they were trying to troll me, so I ignored them and focused on playing like a normal person. They eventually realized their efforts were futile and just wound up ragequitting.

  • Even though I might get a bit heated about gens flying faster than NASCAR laps at times, I've learned to stop caring about 'winning'. Just do what you can and don't give a care about what the game says.

(Not a high rank killer BTW, forever stuck at Rank 16 even though I've been able to sacrifice purple ranks before)

Gens needing to take longer to complete doesn't necessarily mean that gens need to take longer to repair themselves.

For example, if maps were smaller, gens would take longer to complete because Killers could more properly apply pressure to them and the survivors, meaning there would be less survivors on generators more often and therefore take longer to complete.

I mentioned this on a different thread about what I would change about the game, and I agree that map size ought to be trimmed down a bit. It's like I'm playing Fire Emblem 4 on some of the maps with how huge they are.

  • Map size. They remind me of Fire Emblem 4 (Genealogy of the Holy War) in terms of how big they can get.

  • In general, I have so many memories with Dead by Daylight in the short time I've been playing it, which is what keeps me here - the thrill of the chase is what I love in this game, which (while latency can still be frustrating) really gets my pulse racing. That's having fun.

I've also been given props for gameplay before and had nothing but positive commentary in postgame chat before. If there's a good group of survivors I'm against, I make sure to give credit where it's due.

  • I mean, the only way SWF on Comms really breaks killers' backs is if they're good at the game - I've been against SWF groups on comms who were bad, so I guess it depends on the group?

  • Allow me to play Devil's Advocate for a moment here. The assumption here is, based on what I've seen in this thread so far, that SWF on comms is basically an instant win button. However, I would like to argue that not all SWF groups do it to get an 'ez clap' on killers and get carried up to high ranks (rank is a pitfall BTW if you ask me).

As someone else here noted, they wouldn't be playing the game without SWF - and that's why I think some people play SWF, it's because they don't want to roll the dice on who they get as teammates and run the risk of being matched with 'potatoes'. Therefore, they group up with people they can trust to tackle the trials of the Fog without fear of losing due to something that wasn't in their control.

  • I've had some pretty colorful salt directed at me before - usually they come from those who got sacrificed and I just wear it like a badge of honor.

Although if survivors direct salt at their teammates and are mean enough about it, then I'll report them.

  • Well if you ask me, it seems kinda silly unless the bodyblocker for some reason happens to be made out of Gooigi like substance

Most of the time from the gameplay available, I just see the bodyblocking teammate get injured instead.

I wouldn't think so. It just means that Caleb/Deathslinger switches targets to the 4head who thought bodyblocking a spear'd teammate was a brilliant counterplay idea.

  • @ThreeQuarters said:

Try to hold your swing for a few seconds. They're baiting you by running at you and you're swinging in anticipation that they'll continue running at you, but they'll turn away at the last second. Just be patient and walk a little closer before swinging, and try to anticipate the survivor's jukes (this often takes practice).

I disagree with most of Greezy's suggestions. Shadowborn is good on some killers but I don't think the perk really gives you anything worthwhile. Unrelenting is a bit of a noob trap; it's better to just learn to bait out Dead Hard and not fall for jukes. You will usually want to lunge to get a hit; tapping left click (or RT or whatever) will only hit the survivor if they are literally touching your character model. The cooldown is technically shorter than the lunge cooldown but by a negligible amount (you can look this up on youtube or dbd wiki). Learn to follow the survivor's movements with your mouse (or whatever on the controller) as you lunge; they will often juke quickly left or right.

With the kinds of quick left and right jukes I've seen for a while, I feel like some survivors would kill it on the basketball court lol

Yeah, I think if I can keep my eye on the survivors that'd help a lot.

I am personally tired not of the camping remarks because i don't do it because normally it's not productive... i will do it if i need a kill like when i had one egc kill needed so i camped to get it and the other two left (one gave up earlier on hook). but the gripes about tunneling. I've had survivors cry "you tunneled me all match and never hooked me!!!!" I had to laugh because that match i kept running across the david and at that point i was just trying to have a bit of fun.... so I kept after him when I saw him. lol but that was the dreaded tunneling.... I've had survivors whine about tunneling when they get off the hook and i come from across the map to try and find the unhooker or see if anyone stuck around.. hey! there's the same one working on a totem... still injured... what am I to do???? let them go? lol still it is time that the harassment stops. sure it's not fun but stop calling people names, stop calling them derogatory terms! if you're pissed drop a message about it and leave it at that, stop wasting the dev's time for silly reports... oh yea stop thinking that reporting that to twitch will get a twitch streamer banned. lol

Funny thing about dropping messages. Twice in the past I had people leave comments on my Steam profile accusing me of lagswitching (even though I didn't know how to lagswitch at the time). I told one of my friends about it and he decided to take matters into his own hands, leaving this on my profile:

"Imagine being so bad at a game that y'all decide to blame a person who doesn't know anything about lagswitching instead of taking responsibility for your own death.

    Sad."

I have yet to receive any more salty comments on my profile since then.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/130026/camping-isnt-bannable-right

I hope you reported them for verbal abuse, you did nothing wrong, camping is fully legit strategy. Dont be stressed by these animals, they are just frustrated kids. Play any style you want, you will never get ban for camping, ignore all salty survivors 😉😉

Usually whenever I get salt in postgame, it's from players who got sacrificed. It's rare whenever it happens for some reason when I play. Sometimes whenever the survivors are legit or get out of a tricky 3 gen, I give credit where it's due.

And for the record, the only times I ever get 'stressed' is when latency kicks in at a bad time. I don't see why I should get mad at the players.
