๐ I really dunno why the Google app alerted me to this thread, I quietly gave up on the game in January...for those that are still addicted or "pot committed" because of "I've put this many hours in and spent this much money on shiny worthless aesthetics" mentality; you'd be really surprised how easy it is to just change to seeing the game as something you play casually and then get more and more casual until you barely think about it....the less you play the weirder it gets how much the community gnashes their teeth about awful problems with thr game while still playing it so much...anyway, waste your time however you like..
-
๐ the only reason color blind mode got the push through was because of something a dev said while streaming DbD
-
๐ so most of this discussion covers my reasoning for saying "Rank doesn't matter". People get so caught up in trying to get to or keep at red ranks as a way to prove their skill level but when the MM doesn't seem to align ranks anyway then the ranks don't really count for much. I've got dozens of end game scoreboard screenshots showing myself at 12-10 killer rank and the survivors all reds or reds and purples and most the time I bother screenshotting it's because they seemed like a SWF as well. There's also some obvious smurfing from PC players-other night I faced a well coordinated SWF (other survivors slamming lockers, making noises across map when I tried to chase or bodyblocking as soon as I got a hit on one survivor etc) and a supposed rank 16 survivor was doing pro flashlight saves through gaps in walls any time I tried to carry a survivor. I gave up and tried to just wait at the exit to open it to end the game because the t-bagging etc was tiresome but they still kept trolling for another 10 minutes...I crossplay on PS4 for the shorter wait times but it seems sometimes the PC survivors can tell when you're dropping frames like a mofo and just gleefully go toxic mode ๐

Bro I thought it was just my ps4 pro that did that it sounds like its about to break with this game on and dont try to send a message or see your friends that's online the playstation act like its ######### and I just sunt my ps4 pro back to sony because one day I was playing this game and my playstation just cut off by itself and would not come back on so playstation fixed it for free I might add then the brand new system sounds like its about to break playing just this game
I've actually freaked my mother out a few times when I've fired up DbD; there's been concern and confusion if there's a storm outside ๐...I'd heard from others is a known thing that DbD sound like a vacuum cleaner though so I just got used to it...a few times in last 3 months DbD made the PS4 randomly do a Playstation version of BSOD at some stage during a multi hour session.
Are us PS4 DbD players basically in some kind of abusive relationship with the game bruh? ๐
-
I feel like a basic b. for repeating it again but I really wish DbD had stolen a bunch of ideas from F13. Even the skill checks are a more interesting version of DbD's and your character's skills impact on the speed they're done, plus you've got to source parts before doing the different things that require skill checks. The M1 type attack in F13 not being an animation is also preferential IMO.

Don't get your hopes up. It's not a hardware issue, it's a game issue. When I upgraded my PC, my frame rate issues lessened, but the horrible choking stutter most certainly did not go away. The game's prettier, sure, but there's no performance difference between low and ultra.
Taking this into consideration reminds of a query I've had in my head many times while watching streamers: what kind of PCs are they running that they never seem to get the fps and other issues others get? Especially those random issues that don't happen every game but I've seen PC guys say does happen to them.
To put it another way: from this PS4 player's perspective watching PC streamers play DbD, they seem to always be playing some much better version of the game than I could ever dream of and yet other PC players with decent machines seem to be getting issues. It can't be that every DbD PC streamer is running some modded overclocked 5 thousand dollar plus mega gaming machine-can it?

Are you going to be the one to pay my electric bill from leaving the PC on if I have to leave?
๐
K, define "leave". If you mean physically leave the location of your PC just alt tab or shut down in task manager or simply turn your PC off.
Game with killer AFK takes around 10-15 minutes max if you AFK and a lot less if you're survivor.
I've been broke af a lot of times in my life and am a lifelong cheapskate that hates waste in general but I've never worried about a possible maximum of 15 minutes electricity wasted by leaving a PC...especially since going AFK from the game doesn't mean you have to leave the PC location can't go watch YouTube or play solitaire or look at rebbit or waste time posting here....obviously I should get around to posting about my killer experiment where I started then went AFK for 3 hours worth of games..
-
Everyone posting tl;dr reasons: Bubba's just a pay-to-win killer for people who need one IMO. My opinion ain't worth much but I've played against a respectable amount of Bubbas and I've never felt any "wow, what a skillful killer, props to you my dude" respect for any of them ๐ฌ
Kick my guts inside out, stomp me like a bug and leave me clenching my fist cursing your mother as Billy and I'll be respecting you under all my butthurt...no offense but I'm honestly not sure Bubba mains even understand what the term "mind game" means ๐
-
Hope it doesn't sound like schadenfreude but as a PS4 player it's nice to see it's not actually smooth sailing across the board for the PC Master Race...you guys probably know but DbD makes our PS4s going into "holy crap I think it's about to frigging explode" overdrive, the fan making more noise than any other game on PS4 to the point where if you sit a little too close while playing it's actually hard to hear in game sounds properly ๐...I knew this but after taking a break recently I'd forgotten that the PS4 makes this hullabaloo even on the loading screen when the GPU shouldn't be getting stressed at all ๐
-
Wow, so many people repeating the same couple of opinions over and over and over in slightly different ways...but be it "don't wanna keep playing", "can't keep playing", "life emergency", "legit reasons" etc yada yada there is another option guys...come to the dark side-go AFK...YES AFK, brohahaha...maybe just try it one time-for poops n giggles-or to see if your ego tying your self importance and game playing abilities to your user name can survive the gut wrenching indignity of other players/opponents thinking mean things about your user name or doing awful things to your game character while you're away.
You'll still get bp and xp and you never know, it might not be as bad as you've imagined...plus no DC penalties-most times if you AFK the time the game takes to end won't be much longer than than the first/second DC penalty...it's the ideology that rank is really important and people will think/say mean things about you that'll be the main stumbling block to coming over to the dark side and going AFK..

Yeah, sorry OP there's a whole "DbD culture" thing going on with teabagging-if Samination can't convince us it's just cute "butt dancing" then someone doing their first forum post going "maybe it's not so toxic" isn't going to change things, sorry.
Personally, with other survivors I do either a long slow double teabag as a thank you for healing/unhooking me or a quick little one as a "hey dude" when I find them on the map etc.
Coming from a decades long history of gaming the teabagging in this game did/does occasionally annoy me-when it started in the first FPS games we could crouch in it was a way of rubbing a victory in an opponents face: ha! I killed you and now I disrespect you too!
The times I got salty about teabagging in DbD it'd be times when someone didn't beat me as much as got lucky. I still remember being amazed at some Dwight that hadn't done any gens, just seemed to run around like a confused doofus, got easily hooked twice and I chased and hooked his helpers both times, he didn't help them back and managed to get to gates someone else had opened and started teabagging me like he'd outsmarted me: the guy got carried the whole game and then tried to rub it in my face he was escaping. It felt unfair that I'd killed 3 of his much better co-survivors and he was getting a free escape he didn't deserve.
Teabagging by some pro loopmaster doesn't really bother me much and usually leads me to leaving the chase because it seems obvious they're teabagging to try and get me on tilt to waste more time. I actually love it when it seems you're against a SWF and a survivor seeks you out and tries to get your attention by teabagging before you've chased them because it's obvious they're trying to distract you and give their gen jockies time to work-I ignore them completely and go slaughter the gen jockies who usually can't loop well. For some reason it seems to all fall apart for the SWFs if you do this-like the teabagging distraction loopmaster can't work gens if you kill the gen jockies.
-
๐ I'm kinda a Doc main I guess insomuch as I enjoy playing him the most but there's a huge difference in the outcome of the game based on survivors ability.
Lower rank/less skilled survivors are almost too easy and seem to get more freaked out by madness etc but running into a red rank SWF can be a humbling experience if they know how to get out of range of your blasts and 360/dodge your M1 well-some even know to use the info you get from hallucinations against you by moving somewhere unexpected and you waste time searching for where they supposedly just were.
As survivor I've never been too stressed against a Doc-a skilled Plague will rustle your jimmies a lot easier than a decent Doc IMHO.
-
To the other point being made here about terrible player behavior, yeah I've been seeing it and it's kinda the reason I'm not playing right now and it kinda feels like a chore to play again/need to make myself play just to get the bonus bp.
Co-survivors playing solo have been mindblowingly more selfish than I've ever seen in years of playing this game-there's been games where the killer gets 2-3 more kills than they deserve based on survivors not helping each other. And despite not wanting to be a DC baby the shameless tunneling eventually got to me and I DC'd my last game. It's double frustration on PS4, we're getting sporadic frame dropping like you wouldn't believe.
DCing too-######### with all these level 20s just DCing whenever they're not having an easy game? As kiler I actually "teamed" with some survivors for the first time in forever because I pounded them too hard as Doc and after one DC'd, another got sacrificed and they still had 5 gens left the Bill approached me and put his med kit down like we did in the old days to show submission/respect so I let him and the other survivor do all gens, tried pointing out totems and let them escape. It takes so frigging long to be an "altruistic killer" though because you can't clearly communicate that you're hitting them to give them heal points or just need to hook em twice for your own points etc.
-
๐ I'm still confused, I'd check the total bp I'd get at the end of each trial and each time it'd just seem like all I got was the base bp and Bloodhunt bp, I should've tried to record it somehow but a few games multiple bp boosters would be used and results would still be base bp x2.
Back in 4th Year event where I'd have games where 4 or 5 cakes would be used and I'd get 100-200k bp (I think most for me was 180k but others got 190ish+) it doesn't seem to be stacking bp bonus and I think the most I've gotten is 50-70k. I could be wrong.
-
Okay, so I'll shorten the tl;dr and say I only just re-downloaded DbD for Halloween which took longer than expected so I played from 5am till about 2pm local time because it was still October 31st EST time. Maybe because of my tiredness I got confused but I used up both cakes and streamers on a few killers and basically got nothing ie if I got 25k bp in the game I'd get an extra 25k bp Bloodhunt bp but nothing for the cake or steamer or soup etc. Seemed the same with envelopes and any other bonus bp sacrifice as survivor too.
Someone on the PS4 community tried to convince me cakes only worked for SWF but that seems wrong.
Basically, it seemed from my half asleep post game assessment of 7 hours of gaming BHVR set the event to just give Bloodhunt extra bp and ignore other extra bp sacrifices.

God I love licensing issues and lawsuits. This earth is poo.
Being a fan of the F13 game I knew vaguely about "the lawsuit" but only just read a detailed article about it recently and it's kind of a fascinating case the outcome of which could have repercussions on many aging intellectual properties (except those owned by Disney obviously) that could either fall back into the hands of the original creator or get mired in "who really owns what" like with Jason.

*ixnay on mentioning things mods are doing*
-
THIS GAME SHOULD BE "SURVIVORS HAVE FUN EVERY TRIAL AND ESCAPE BY DAYLIGHT"! ๐ฌ
-
๐ all the survivor mains only seeing DCing as something survivors do and it lets down other survivors when it's done.
I went through a depressed "DC baby" patch the other month when no DC penalties were on and 80% of my DCs were as killer when it was obvious I was against red rank SWFs running an obnoxious loopmaster and 3 gen jockeys or other obvious SWF techniques. Once they got to 2 gens left and I had no faith I was going to catch em and it was no fun at all to continue I'd DC; why continue being humiliated, just DC and give them the bp earlier without having to get teabagged. 9/10 times when I'd DC the survivors would be 3-4 red ranks against my green rank killer-no way to check if they were SWF. Only time I'd feel bad about DCing was if they weren't at least 3 red ranks. It actually helped prove to me that ranking doesn't count as I depipped down to bottom of green ranks and was still getting red ranks survivors.
The only times I'd DC as survivor was when the killer was tunneling while using a mori and had killed two other survivors (or they'd DC'd) or they'd tunneled me first while using a mori. I'd actually diligently try and waste as much of the killer's time as possible before DCing and figured if I wasted enough time for 2 gens to be done and then gave other survivors "abandoned" bp when I DC'd to waste the killer's mori I'd actually done a decent thing for my co-survivors.
๐ the mods here like to warn people for being disrespectful but DC penalties increase exponentially and OP could've easily had a series of tunneling and mori killers ruining his games but people in this thread seem to be jumping to the conclusion "48 hour ban? Obviously you continually let your team down so you deserve that" ๐.
Also, as someone in Australia where there's terrible internet and I've literally been trying to work out today if I change my home internet service to the subpar Australian NBN or 4G or 5G-all of which can have problems-the reductive attitude of "can't be your internet crashing and if it is get better internet" is kinda arrogant.
I've tried multiple times and it's almost impossible to explain to North Americans that most of Australia has "McDonald's wifi" quality internet-my current landline ADSL runs at below 20mps but the government's actually getting rid of landline in favour of this stupid NBN that's notorious for dropping out on the regular, 5g isn't widespread here yet and I'm reading conflicting reviews on 4g for home use.
Someone made the assertion that BHVR can somehow differentiate between crashed internet and quitting mid game but I've seen multiple threads here in the past (before they gave DC penalties a break) saying otherwise.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk and just remember ranks don't matter and if you do feel like DCing just remember my little dittie ๐ต "Don't DC just AFK, you'll still get xp anyway" ๐ต

๐ it's obviously going to go to a Canadian.
-
One of the core ideas I wished they'd "heavily borrowed" from F13; yeah there's often squakers and toxic creeps to mute but when it worked well proximity chat was amazing and added more to the killer vs survivor (or councilor fir F13) experience. People desperately begging with the killer or trying to do dirty rat on team mate deals or saying goofy things while getting chased or verbal mind games-it's a helluva good time when it's a good lobby.
-
๐ people that buy the P2W instakill killers and then use NOED as well just induce derisive laughter from me-just seems like complete overkill attempt and an aversion to using much skill to win.
It's like when a tier 3 Mikey has to facecamp: also hilarious.
No disrespect intended, to each their own I guess.
-
It is kinda weird why we all put so much time and money into a game that's basically hide and seek tag. It's a hard game to try and "talk up" to people that don't play without lying about how much time you spend holding M1 watching a loading gif as survivor or run in the same repetitive loops as killer ๐
-
It's quite amusing being a console player seeing people post "record it and post a ticket" ๐ I've reported dozens and dozens of times for obvious "working with the killer" or a crossplay PC hacker etc type stuff, I used to even bother recording them but it's obvious the reporting system on console is just a way to placate the annoyed into thinking someone cares: like a complaints box above a trash can.
In relation to OP, as killer-mostly as Trapper-I've had a few games run 45 minutes from last two hiding and it's pretty much always disappointing when the game is over; no extra bp or shards no great feeling of success just feels like wasted time. Worse is when you get a 2 person SWF, they get a key, do no gens at all, wait till you kill the non SWFs, waste 25+ minutes hiding/looking for trap door, troll you by setting off traps and banging lockers then scoot out the trap door to get an impressive 15-18k bp...fun game ๐

๐ I liked when the guy said "potatoe team mates" about potato teammates...
-
I too agree with most of his points.
Tl; dr but I'm currently on annual leave for 4 weeks and thought I'd be playing DbD non-stop since I'm having a "staycation" at home, however I kept noticing after the first week I'd be getting more and more frustrated with the game and my "breaks" of playing something else like Rogue Company (because it's such an easy casual 3rd person shooter to play a few games of) or watching YouTube instead were getting longer and by end of second week I'd deleted DbD to take "a break" and play Detroit Become Human.
Now Halloween event has started but it feels like the pull to play again is getting on the old "could be better maybe this time and could get some cool extra stuff maybe" cycle you can easily fall into with DbD and it's events etc.
I'm a PS4 player so maybe all the glitches and bugs affect me more but I often wonder how many of us play this game out of a weird kinda "pot committed" poker type mentality ie "I've put so many hours in and invested a certain amount of money so I'll put up with frustration to keep the hope of a genuine GG alive".
It's probably a completely dead point for ages but I've been wondering for a while why BHVR doesn't just "heavily borrow" ideas from F13 where survivors have so many other options of "things to do apart from hold M1, hide and do the same loops you've done hundreds of times". ๐
-
Personally I really liked trying to be a "fair" killer that tried their best to never tunnel and then getting teabagged and toxic messaged for it. I get what you're saying about bloodpoints, but I hate the arguments that basically boil down to "killers should play the way I want them to because it's more fun for me."
Killers are trying to have fun, too, and puttering around with potato survivors is pretty dull. Sometimes you want to try your best and be competitive, and wasting time entertaining the survivors or grinding out maximum bloodpoints feels more like a chore than something you're playing for fun.
Yes, I completely agree.
There's a good middle ground to get to when it's decent survivors and you play well against them for a 4k with lots of bp though.
-
I've seen videos where both Otz and Tru3 refer to Doc as either top tier or slightly below. I've semi mained Doc for a while and some games it's actually so easy it gets boring but a decent red rabk SWF can work around your static blast etc.
My only strong opinions with Doc are if you're not running Whispers (or maybe Tinkerer or both) you're making it a lot harder for yourself and on crossplay as a console player against PC survivors your slug will seem like it's in slow mo and you'll swing and miss to frustrating extent ๐

,,A killer shoul 4k with 9+ hooks as is intended" Who said that this is intended to be played like that? You can play however you want. I dont listen to the stupid community rules they made themselfes.
๐ if your intention is getting as close to 32,000 bp as possible then yeah, OP has a point. I've mostly given up on this argument on the Playstation forums but it seems like the younger and dumber killers think the purpose of the killer is to kill everyone ASAP and end the match in 5 minutes with 15-18,000 bp and 250 xp, this-to me-is patently stupid, a terrible logic fail and a wastebof time.
If it's obvious you can easily outplay and kill all the survivors ASAP then it's also obviously easy to string the game out for the 10 minutes it takes to get maximum xp and do more activities that get you a lot closer to 32k bp (and two pips if you think rank matters).
The usual argument nearly always has to include some doofus using some variation of "IT'S CALLED DEAD BY DAYLIGHT NOT HOOKED THREE TIMES BY DAYLIGHT" as a weak attempt at making a point.

I like to imagine it in my head like this:
DbD community: wow, can we please get all these bugs fixed please? It's getting so hard to enjoy playing DbD.
BHVR: Oh, okay...how about some Greek themed skins though?
DbD community: uh, ok thanks but about those bugs...
BHVR: Yup, we hear what you're saying but in the meantime what about crossplay? And then did you say you wanted new characters and a change to the graphics? Because here's some graphics changes on two maps, a new killer and a new survivor-isn't the game great fun now?
DbD community: WOW thanks! ...ummm...about those old bugs though, some of them seem worse and there's some new ones-any chance at all you'll get these fixed so the game isn't so painful to play?
DbD community: did you say you wanted Oktoberfest skins? No problem guys!
I've got some ranty thread I've been working on in my head but the highlights from the last month playing on PS4 are irregular CE-34878 blue screen of death, lag spike games (500 ms for one, 1020 ms for another ๐ jumping back 1 second in time gets trippy) and in crossplay PC killers getting hitboxes on you so big you just have to laugh at getting downed halfway up some stairs while the killer is still on the ground ๐.
-
...haha, wait, to be clear you can only record on PS4 because it's a function of the PS4 not because of any option given in the game. .
-
๐ ๐๐๐๐ on PS4 you can easily record your game and the hacking evidence (PC guys via crossplay) but there's no genuine reporting available. You can click on someone's name and click one of the fake reporting options but there's no actual report on any player actioned and it's obviously just a way to placate disgruntled players.
The irony of The PC Master Race getting so many advantages in the game and better treatment from BHVR but not being able to easily record footage is quite amusing ๐. Great thread OP!

ROFL, it's gotten hilariously bad on PS4/console since crossplay because it's not just killer hitting you hitbox but the the pallet "hitbox" now too ie if the killer is on PC you can't do pallet stuns like you used to and the game will either just ignore your attempt to drop the pallet completely and count the killer's hit instead if the killer is within stun distance or the much more fun "count the killer hitting you but still drop the pallet with you stuck between the killer and the pallet and then you can only slow vault the pallet and the killer can grab you after the animation of you vaulting the pallet has completed"..oh boy it's fun and such a joy to see so many PC streamers constantly pooping on console players and "herpa derp why do these idiots drop pallets so badly".

Oh and your 2nd game reverence. I played against that team who drawed against the Nurse and let me tell you they are freakin insanly good. This was supposed to be a hard fight and in the end the survivors got a bit lucky and could escape with 2 people.
๐ฎ how does someone misspell balanced as "ballenced"? I just tried to misspell it a dozen times and couldn't.
@GeordieKiller said:
while i dont think dbd can ever be a good tourmaent due to the rng nature of the game i take issue how people are dismissing the 1% and saying we cant balance the game around the 1% in fact you can alot of games are balanced around the top players and the 1% because the top players shows more of the balancing issue then anyone else.
take overwatch for example and the introduction to Brigg she literially changed the meta to the the infamous GOAT meta ( 3 tanks and 3 support) before they had to nerf her and introduced the 222 system to try and balance the game so DPS can be used. Also at the current moment they are in the process of balancing Moria as she is heading to the same way as brig was. If it wasnt for the top players players who know how to fully utlise their powers we would never see any balance changes as mid or lower level players wouldnt showcase the balancing issue that those characters cause.
That is how in my opipion balancing should be done balance the top so it trickles down to the bottom then you get a even playing field not balance it around mid level play that goes for any pvp game regardless of competitve or not if it has a ranking system/ mmr, i strongly believe you balance the top end so it trickles down to the bottom to create a fair field for both sides

Your "opipion"? Sweet baby Jesus do all Geordies have to fit the Geordie stereotype?
I can't keep on track with this argument with all these well written statements to work through ๐ง...I'm pretty stupid so I have to read things out loud and I'm making no sense when I hear myself ๐ข

I still can't tell if you love it when people complain about hatch but I think you don't actually love how killers like to fulfill their raison d'etre and get as close to 32k bp by getting 4 kills when a game goes in their favor.

"when there are more than ONE thing you could be talking about", well there's always more than one thing anyone could be talking about really. Sometimes though, when you're posting on an internets forum and you hit that quote button thing and make reference to the first sentence of what someone else posted you're referring to that.
This is all getting too complicated, I'm going to go waste time not being able to get a "kill all 4 survivors" challenge done and think about how using a key to get through a hatch isn't somehow related to the hatch.
Hopefully you do actually love people complaining about the hatch and someone else will keep fulfilling that need for you ๐ฌ.

Second day of wasting hours trying to do a "kill all 4 survivors" challenge...DCs when hooked, keys, SWFs genrushing and being toxic if I try use a mori and oh boy DCing when downed so buddy can hatch escape-it's been such fun!
