  • The reason still stands. An SWF may be talking about other stuff, but how do you prevent yourself from saying "Hold on, I'm in a chase" Even that can be good information givin out. Not saying all SWF are that way, but I'll tell you this for sure. I've been playing against red ranks when I'm a green rank killer. I can't say that they were for SWF, but they're very coordinated and got gens done faster than I can down a single survivor. Well... Down 1 player and 3 gens gone. Chase another and all gens done.

You can't say that there aren't problems with the game if that wasn't SWF. Also... this has been happening more frequently. Out of the last 3 matches I didn't get any kills due to how skilled they were over me. So... for the casual player it is a big problem.

  • I can consider myself a killer main. I loved playing killer and before ranks got messed up it used to be 80% of what I played for a time, but recently it's gotten so hard. Sometimes when you start out with a team of red ranks it makes me think if I want to continue playing killer. Like, if the game goes by way too fast I just basically wasted my time "playing" or simulating playing the game. That's when I knew it was time to hang up my killer main role. Since I'm casual I'm not going to go for the long hours of learning every killer to their max potential.

  • Oof! Reminds me that I got a rank 1 hag. She slaughtered the team. We played bad. I'm also a casual survivor. I can loop a bit, but not that great. At the moment I'm a rank 7 survivor. I feel like the killer played really well, but it's a both not a well coordinated team and good killer. Made the plays and we made the mistakes.

  • Yeah, I feel pretty much the same. Lately I don't care about my killer games, but I've lowered my expectations every time I play against survivors since they're too "skilled". Using skilled as a way to say coordinated or good at looping. As soon as the exit gates are powered I tend to not care anymore and open it myself instead of play the game further. Especially if 4 are alive (being aware that is because I can't keep up with survivors). I can't really say it's my fault entirely though. Feels like I chased one person for 3 pallets and 3 gens got done. Then another after the down. At that point... why should I put anymore effort into a game?

It's a mismatch between competitive and casual at that point for me. I really don't want to sweat for kills, but I don't expect them to be handed to me either. Playing as survivor I want to feel the burn more, but not constantly being in the way of the killer. I want to make those saves, run from the killer and expect an overall good match. If it's not that, then I wonder if the game is really worth it's game play.

  • I think when you say kills it kind of ruins the concept of balance. For me at least. Did you have to sweat for two kills? What happened during that game? Was it fun? I think the best way to relate to balance is how many hooks did you get where 6 hooks was a balanced matched. I had a game where I got 2 kills and hooked less than that. Is that balanced? I guess in a way it is, but it makes me feel defeated too. I didn't have fun with the match. I don't feel like the survivors struggle. So I say hooks are the best indication. That and bloodpoints.

  • I'm in agreement with this. I main killer most of the time, but I've been playing less and less killer (only for rituals and challenges lately). If I'm not doing either then I'm probably not playing the game. I'm a casual player and I feel at this point Dead by Daylight is going to lose more killers. At least... I'm playing the game at a point where it feels really redundant. It's gotten so dull too. For a game that relies on killers to have matches more so than survivors it can easily destroy the game. Sure survivors are needed as well, but if I kill less and survive more I'm adding to the problem as well.

I'd love to play more survivor, but lobbies take too long and I could be playing other games so the question arises... why should I play this game if the majority of the time I'm looking for matches? It can be fun, but waiting forever isn't my kind of fun either.

  • Laurie because you don't even need to be careful with Decisive Strike. Why be careful when you have immunity for 60 seconds?

  • I don't know. Dead by Daylight kind of has an identity crisis with player base I feel. A lot want to play casual and others want to do competitive. So the game is fixed in a sense, but as a whole it isn't. I think the game is "fixed" when they decide what kind of game they want it to be. If they want it to be competitive then they're going to have to work on killers for the more skilled. Other things like working on the maps need to be taken care. Glitches are constant which makes sense when you're constantly updating the game. I think it still has a way to go and as long as the majority of the playerbase enjoys the game it's not going anywhere.

  • Well, I'm not a survivor main, but I play both sides. More so on the Survivor side now that I get terribly outmatched as killer. Red Ranks while being a green rank is no fun. It really makes me want to play the game less and less because I don't even get a chance to have a game that is fair for my skill level. So... yes, I agree gens go way too fast. When I play survivor I experimented with the toolbox with add ons and I was surprised how fast a common toolbox can make a gen go! The charges take forever to go down as well. So I think that is a great change.

However, I don't think it's really enough. When you have survive with friends that are pretty much die hards and have everything figured out. Know the maps as well as spawns for the pallets it makes it a real nightmare. Playing survivor at my level I look for things to do. I do 1 gen and look for totems or explore the map, but that is me. I also try to jump on the gens if the killer is being fierce.

Anyway, Like I said. Gen speeds are too fast right now, but we'll see how they are without toolboxes. In my opinion even without a toolbox they still go by a little too fast. The killer can only be in one place after all.

  • This is the problem when people get competitive. To me the game isn't a competition. Of course I've been getting numb to how SWF and higher ranks treat me in game (Not PC, PS4). They most likely don't have much of a life outside of this game to be so rude. Online has never been healthy in general. Can you imagine if you went up to a person and said "You're ugly!"? Putting that lightly I'd say the majority aren't that stupid to do that.

Anyway, givin the idea of this game being competitive when it wasn't made to be competitive people get way too boastful. It doesn't make a difference if they won that match or not. It will be forgotten the next day and no one really truly cares about their accomplishments. Looks like you did great and gave them hell!

  • Chasing obviously skilled survivors around the whole map. Seriously, by the time I've caught him 3 gens are done and the 4th is halfway to being popped. Why don't I learn? lol

Also, being scared I won't find a survivor so I stick to a chase I really shouldn't. Pretty much the same as the previous statement.

  • Well, I'm going to say this much. A lot of people talk about NOED being an unskilled perk and maybe it is, but look at it this way. It's to make the killer more dangerous. How well it does that depends on if you can find all totems or if you find it while lit. In most cases I use it because of my playstyle. I more often then not don't camp or tunnel so by the endgame there is always a big possibility that all survivors will be alive. Especially if I don't use Ruin.

So does this make me a bad killer because I didn't kill all survivors even if I hooked everyone 2 times by the end of the game and have NOED? Do I truly need to hook a person 3 times to deserve the kill? On the other hand. With perks that survivors have that make the killer hit them more (borrowed time, mettle of man, adrenaline) not to mention instant heals. Do survivors deserve to survive after being hit much more beyond the number of times they have been hit?

I think these are questions everyone needs to answer themselves. I personally don't think a good survivor needs adrenaline or mettle of man. Borrowed Time I understand. DS I understand. Instant Heals I don't. Especially since most of the time survivors are cocky because of such perks or items.

So that goes back to NOED. If survivors have an instant heal is it ok to one shot them? If they use adrenaline what is wrong with a one hit down?

  • It was mentioned in a post I believe. It was in the talks, but it may below the radar. I think the new system for Killer ranking is going to be coming out soon if I'm right, but I'm not going to say too much because all I know is that it was talked about. I do however, assume that they are actually going to implement this for killers.

EDIT: So, I was mistaken. I can't find anything that devs have this in the works. What I found was much talk about it though. The one post I found before I must've assumed was talked about by devs.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/29445/killer-rank-should-be-per-killer-instead-of-all/p1

  • Yeah, I didn't mean to exclude information, but I mean rather than being ranked just overall have a separate rank mode for survivors. So it would be like their hard mode.

  • Awesome! I also noticed I failed my math as 25% off of 50% isn't 25% lol So, PGTW 12.50% + OC 5.63% = 31.87%. Now... I think that is right! The 5.63% is the total taken off of the gen after the 15% is applied to the failed skill check on a 37.50% gen.

  • I didn't know that about the skill checks taking 10%. Sounds a bit high, but if it's right, it's right. I'm definitely not going to argue against that. In any case if that 5% did stack with the 10% it would be after PGTW is applied. At least that's how I see it.

  • I'm guessing PGTW does its 25% applied first then overcharge takes place after that. Missing the skill check applies whatever regression from there. So not a stacked total.

    50% generator + PGTW = 25% Gen

    25% generator + Overcharge failed skill check 5% = 1.25% deduction = 23.75%

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  • I hear yah! I like playing killer a lot, but sometimes I get stomped and I'm ok with that. I'm fine being casual and rank 14 now. I used to barely make it to the purple or just about. I've been grinding forever and had just got all the characters to have to 50. That was just challenge 1.

Now I want to prestige all my killers. The grind is going to be a killer lol One thing that would cheer me up is some double bloodpoints someday. Asking for a miracle when I want triple bloodpoints.

I completely agree with base kit strong enough to start out with. For example. Playing cannibal for me properly feels like such a drag. I shouldn't be able to guarantee a hit with a chainsaw, but do survivors really need the ability to outrun me in a straight line while I'm using his chainsaw? For me cannibal is always add-on dependent because of that and my stubbornness to not become an insidious basement camper. To each their own though.

  • @Caretaker said:

Actual power as a base killer(addons should enhance/give new playstyles not fix their problems) and map redesigns to actually require thought instead of run pallet to pallet. Fun for both sides, bug fixes, the usual stuff.

This and a good base kit for all killers. Too often I feel like I need to have good add-ons to play some killers well. Yes, I'm a casual for as much time as I put into the game, but still, the casuals are the majority are they not?

  • Yes... I'm on ps4 and when I used to wait like 30 seconds for a game as survivor (rank 12) I now wait about 5-10 minutes. However, when I'm killer I get instant lobbies. It kind of disturbs me that there are toxic people out there waiting forever trying to get a game and when they finally get one they are so toxic to the killer.

Maybe it's karma that there are longer wait times for survivor if there is such a thing.

  • I'm just going to throw this out there. Not having read that long post. If common add-ons weren't to be removed would anyone be against a point based system for add-ons for killers? Total of 10 points to use so you can tie 2 ultra rares together like usual.

Cost would be according to their rarity so you can use more or a different combination to compensate?

    Ultra rare 5

    purple 4

    green 3

    yellow 2

    brown 1

Just something I was thinking of the other day. If it's possible that would work better than removing and adding to the base kit I don't know, but it seems like to me the devs are dead set with how things are for now aside from some reworks. If not I hope in the reworks the killers do come out improved.

  • I enjoy playing as Legion and against Legion myself. I think what hurts most people is their definition of fun and how the killer is used. I know how I use the killer is fun because I'm not a top tier killer, but even if you're top tier you can make it fun by your choices.

In my opinion the killer should be strong enough to feel like when you are found by the killer you have that fear of a short chase and to me that's what keeps it fun with me while being casual. I always feel you should feel like you should have that fear with any killer and there are times where I'm thinking I can outrun the killer and evade forever. Doc, hag, trapper, etc aren't really that scary at all as long as you play right.

Hell, I love playing Freddy and there is a lot of negative about him, but I still find him fun. The ones I don't find fun are Nurse (because I'm horrible and even if I was great it may be boring because then I could catch everyone pretty easily) and Cannibal because I feel he is way too add-on dependant for me because of that damn chainsaw. Basically turns me into an M1 because I refuse to insidious camp people.

  • Play stealthy as you can at first and work on gens carefully. It's how I'm managing, but I save people on the hook because I want people to do gens as well. So they are either more of a distraction or help with gens. I don't go in thinking I'm going to get the 25 extra points. What I care about most is getting the 5 gens done and if I get a lantern then that is gravy!

  • Honestly, I think the event would be better if Killer was able to be more destructive towards the lanterns and only one has to escape with a lantern. Who knows though. Hopefully they'll make some changes for this event so the killer has a higher chance of at least getting 45 points because that seems like a lot of chance for killer.

I loved the halloween event! That was fun as survivor competing against the others to get your vial filled! I feel like that also was great at slowing the game down for killer. Killer was pretty fun with it too though.

  • I thought they were going to fix that. At least I read a mod said that they will :o

  • lol Imagine if they put those details in? I know you don't really gain anything from it and it is time consuming, but I thought it would be a nice little addition. It would also make the rotten fields a bit more unique. Heh, You don't even have to fully destroy the crops. Just half the height when you swing or attack with leatherface's chainsaw.

  • Honestly if that is how it is after the patch then they need to grow a pair. Gen rush is still the best way to get points. No matter what you need to work together and be satisfied with at least the 20 points. On the other hand I don't blame them, but if you're going to cause a problem like this and overextend the game then why on earth play survivor? If you have a 30 minute match you could play 3 maybe killer matches and make 45 points or more.

There is no call for leaving a teammate on first hook. It makes even less sense because if you leave them on the hook then you don't have as much opportunity to get gens done to get your basic 20 points. Without that "distraction" your plan for escape becomes less and less.

With that little rant... Yeah, I do agree that it brings out the greedy. However... it is interesting that Behavior didn't think the event through a whole lot. Sure killers get some points and even sometimes consistently. Maybe even some major ones to the good ones, but any more than 24 points is hard to imagine. I would like to see a lantern highlighted after hook. Hunting one down is too much out of the way if you don't know where they're at.

  • lol Yeah, probably so. Too bad details like that aren't really viable then :/

  • Sure it would, but imagine in the cornfield when you attack it cuts the crops as well as hitting/missing a survivor.

Pallets would pretty much be the same. You go to hit a survivor, but he makes the slide across the pallet and instead you hit the pallet which then counts for a slightly faster breaking animation than normal.

It obviously isn't that big of a deal or game changing, but I always wonder about the small things in this game.

  • Ah, Thank goodness. You can tell I'm still casual lol

  • I like mori's but, I would have to agree if it is your last hook and you're downed then why do you have to carry them to a hook? It always seems kind of weird that you need an offering to kill by your own hand. If all hope is lost for the survivor then why not give the opportunity to just mori them?

  • If you're exhausted why would you recover from exhaustion while doing something exhausting? The game would make even less sense to me.

  • I think it always depends on how the player uses a killer. When I play trapper sometimes I get people in traps and sometimes I don't. The choice is sometimes you have to lay down a trap knowing it will get disarmed because if you get in a chase then it will be dangerous for the survivor. Mostly when laying them down by the pallets.

Trying to think of places to put a trap can be very tricky and most of the time I think you'd want to use rarer add-ons to expand his power. The one in particular is the one that resets traps. That way you never have to worry about it, but since that is extremely useful it is so very limited.

Another thing I don't like is that you can sabotage his traps and if I remember right... the trap becomes useless. I guess it's ok, but if someone has sabotage then you're probably going to have a few less traps.

I think he is an ok killer. Not bad, but not great. Fun at times, but most of the time your traps won't get you too far in higher ranks.

  • I agree with everyone else. I usually go by if the entity is please though. Usually! Getting a safety pip also is a good indication that you didn't do that bad even though the game may not had been satisfactory for a killer.

I play quite lenient in my kills. I often use "noob perk" Noed because I let people freely get off hooks most of the time. It usually results in 4 people in the end game, but it is what it is. Worst case scenario.

2k is definitely a draw, but it was good for both sides.
    3k you did great!
4k Wow... wish I could get this more often lol

If only survivors could see the killer title of some of the killers to show how well they did so they feel like douches if survivors have feelings. Killers have feelings too!

  • Survivors:
Adrenaline, Bond, We're going to live forever, Lithe, Small Game

    Killers:
Bamboozle, Bloodhound (for bleed builds), Brutal Strength, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Distressing, Ruin, Monitor and Abuse, Pop Goes the Weasel, Sloppy Butcher (bleed build), Unnerving Presence, Coulrophobia, Spirit Fury.

You can probably do a lot of different builds with that.

  • Interesting. I'm not at the level you're at by no means, but I'm constantly thinking I need to finish a gen for points. Especially for double bloodpoints. I don't really care about surviving so much because of that, but I won't make unnecessary saves either. Maybe I'll have to take a note of this in the future.

The point of a 99% gen is to get the killer to patrol a wider area than he normally would for gens making it easier to get the harder placed gens or the ones that are closer together. I'm not really sure why that needs to be explained, but the gen regression is really slow so why wouldn't you leave a gen at 99% then come back to it. Hell, the killer might be searching the area for about 30 seconds seeing if anyone is in the area as well.

  • Ah, that is helpful... though... the message I got was only a bit hurtful and not life threatening or anything like that. Sticks and stones, but I'll use my stone to break their bones :p

  • lol You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. I play well with killer and I feel accomplished. Mind you I'm rank 11 and sometimes I get people that know what they're doing even then. Anyway, I was playing The Legion earlier and I was terrible. I can't track survivors at all with him as when they go out of site the effect of his power blinds me.

So I get a friend request saying I'm a trash killer O.o I'm glad he enjoys trash talking someone that is actually new to a killer lol

Seriously though. If you can report him for behavior like that will be satisfying knowing that they receive harsh bans for being idiots. No one needs to be treated like that. Especially when cowering behind the internet acting like a big shot.

Also... note to self to turn friend invites off >_<

  • lol at the Claudette one.

  • Yeah, I guess bloodpoints could be the same for killer. Just a little something for doing well. It also gives me reason to stay away from a killer. Like the less hits you take the better the title? I don't know lol Like I said. It was just a thought.

  • You miss the point of RBT's. They aren't meant to be something you slap on and then ignore the survivor. But i won't get into that; if you didn't understand that simple fact already, you aren't going to no matter what anyone says.

Maybe, but it still seems to be a waste of a bear trap to just throw it on someone then tunnel them. It is one thing for it to take attention away from generators, but it is another to tunnel a person with one on just to be rehooked. From my perspective it would make more sense to throw a bear trap on someone, hook him, and go after another survivor to add a bear trap. The way I think of it is more of a tool than anything else. Why hook someone multiple times with a bear trap if you get no use out of the bear trap in the first place or am I wrong in thinking that way?

I'm in no way going to say I'm right. It just doesn't seem logical to me. If ones plan was to tunnel in the first place then why would you use a bear trap at all?

  • teabagging

I'll leave that there lol Seriously though, if teabagging was taken from the original definition then you can understand why would be offended. Also doesn't help that in a FPS is where it began where you squat over the head of a fallen enemy. When you think about it... isn't that the insult? Anyway, could be a reason, but doesn't mean it is.

I just stopped paying attention to teabaggers unless they run up to me and beg to be hit while I'm after someone else.

  • Sounds more like a nice killer to me. The way he was playing sounds like he would leave the hook and look for another. I feel like this happens commonly and everyone once in a while has a bad game. However, it is odd that he couldn't down anyone and mori them after a hook. You'd think the chances of that would be pretty high.

  • I try not to use any killer too much other than The Doctor for getting more bloodpoints. I have expanded my killers levels, but they're all unworthy of serious play anyway. I balance out my killers and don't care about my rank. I actually cringe when I rank up because I know it'll eventually go beyond my skill level.

  • @βLAKE said:
or maybe make it so that when survivors escape from their bear trap when they throw it on the ground The Pig can pick it right up and as for a even balance, survivors can saboteur the reverse bear trap similar to the trappers trap.

I like this idea better. I usually get tunneled when I have a trap on. That or camped. So... in most cases I'm not really sure why the pig would need more traps. I even got tunneled and camped by a pig that had Make Your Choice.

  • It would be nice. I don't know if there would need a whole lot to be done. I think making it more difficult to escape the dream world would be a big help to freddy. Even if they need to tweak things a bit. As far as I know you shouldn't be able to wake yourself up with a missed skillcheck. Instead tie it specifically to a teammate only thing. If you're asleep then the only way to wake up would be to find someone and have them wake you up. It sounds logical to me, but I guess it could have a downside as well.

  • There will always be teabagging. Thing is... you get numb to it and eventually realize that they are just trying to get you to do what they want. In all reality why should you chase them if there is someone else that is a much easier catch? I've come across some that tbag and I let them get away. They are good, but at the same time survivors have their limits. They're only as good as their weakest link. Such is a team.

It is pretty stupid to teabag, but after a while of playing killer you will understand it as part of the game. No worries about trying to best him/her. Camp. If you catch him then he is just a tool to catch other survivors that are too altruistic. If not, it's no loss. Remember a win for a killer is different than an escape from a survivor.

I hate the noobs in the game that stare at me as I rot on the hook after being a first catch though. Now that is not necessary, but... in the long run a killer will find out that it isn't to their advantage to camp.

  • Yeah, it makes sense though. When I was new to the game I was afraid to go out and search. Guess what happened? I got perks to help me with it. Most of the new people don't have these perks to use as training wheels to go and search for their victims and in their helplessness they camp hoping to get other survivors. In time this will go away and not be commonplace. It will always be a part of the game, but when they have more freedom to locate people I'm sure camping so harshly will stop.

Just not in some situations. Want a kill at the end of game and everyone is alive except for the person on the hook.
