If you press esc in the end game screen and than select match details (I think that is, what it's called, not 100% sure though) you can see the players names and which characters they played.

Thank you! Yes, on PS4, it's OPTIONS then MATCH DETAILS. This is convenient. I can't believe I didn't see this.

It is a great feature but can still get a little confusing when in a trial with all the same character. Oh well! I'll take what I can get! Thanks again.

    Hello.

Since today's patch, I've found that for a few seconds after loading into a trial, the frame rate drops are very heavy. This usually goes away after 10 or so seconds but can creep up during certain moments of the trial.

I've also had the game crash on me while in the loading screen a lot more than usual. Thank God it is not applying a DC Penalty! The loading bar is loading all the way through but then it crashes and brings me to the end-game result screen. This has happened but seems to be happening more often.

    I play on PS4.

At first I thought it was the new updated maps that were loading in wonky because the first few trials I went into after the update were the new reworks. But I've noticed it happens on every map. Also, I was playing DbD before the update, this morning, and continued playing after. These drops were not so prevalent before installing the update. This is the reason for my post. I know this game has it's moments but these moments seem to be happening more. Maps looks great tho!!

After having a losing streak as killer and seeing many survivors with BT/DS/Deliverance etc, I realized that these are all perks that revolve around the hooking mechanic. Knowing this, I decided to never hook survivors until everyone is slugged and/or have the survivors die from bleeding out, because those perks would never work unless I hook them. I started to see more success in my games, but after matches, survivors would start to call me toxic for not hooking them and keeping them slugged the entire match, and it was my "responsibility" to make the game fun.

Although I've been winning more matches for not hooking all survivors until they are all slugged, am I a toxic killer for doing this strategy? Is this a bannable/keeping the game hostage?

    Perks I run:

    • Hex Undying
    • Hex Ruin
    • Hex Haunted Ground / Deathbound
    • Deerstalker

    Yes. Lol

It's common knowledge that a lot of people on these forums don't like Self-Care. That's fine. You do you.

What I'm doing today is just sharing why I use Self-Care on ALL of my builds that I have the perk available for, outside of custom games with friends.

I'm the type of survivor that likes to have two health states. I'm quieter when at full health, and I'm not immediately screwed if I make a mistake in a chase against a majority of the killer roster. I don't hate Iron Will, but a second health state feels more beneficial to me.

"BuT jUsT uSe InNeR sTrEnGtH oR a MeDkIt ThEn!" Sure, I could do that, or I can also go with a perk that has INFINITE USE, and isn't completely negated by a single perk that a killer is likely to bring after seeing at least two other items in the game. I don't like that Inner Strength is tied to totems, something I hunt fairly often to deal with NoED because you lot won't, and I hate that Med-kits can be dealt with Franklin's Demise entirely.

Both of those solutions also run off a limited resource, which again, I hate having. Yes even as a Pig main that has a limited number of my primary power.

Lately in my main build that I am running, I've also got Resilience, so having a perk like Self-Care that allows me to be at 99% healed, activating Resilience, and being at basically full health because I have eyes, ears and Spine Chill to tell me when the killer is near to pop my healing. Something I cannot do without comms is warn the other survivors of what I am doing. Extremely detrimental as a solo player.

There have also been a lot of times, again as a solo player, where I've had to scramble and ditch the person who just unhooked me because the killer is returning to the hook. No survivors then make contact with me for a solid while, so I'm left alone to heal myself. Even at red ranks. With a lot of survivors also caring about splitting up and "generator optimisation", you're then not always guaranteed to be nearby another survivor provided they also haven't removed themselves instantly.

One thing that everyone covers is the amount of time that Self-Care takes. It's literally the same time PER SURVIVOR as getting someone else to heal me base, and with Resilience it's even slightly faster for me to heal myself if we want to go there. Don't get me wrong though, I appreciate the healing if you're here and going to help me, but you have to actually be there to heal me.

Now something that is also rarely covered is that Self-Care in a split team can also rob the killer of some potential pressure. Let's say that they are a stealth killer, with A Nurse's Calling, and they see me Self-Caring or you healing me. They down me because I can't get away in time because I didn't notice them. If you're there too, they can just slug me and chase you meaning the killer has even more pressure with two of us now removed from doing generator work, where as if I get done by myself, then there is a chance they will leave me. Especially if there is the threat of Decisive Strike. No this will not come up very often, but it's still something that I have had happen to me on both sides. I know full well the risks of using Self-Care against a majority of killers, and I take measures to ensure my safety while I do so.

It's also surprisingly easy to get, especially since Claudette and Dwight are two of the best characters for a brand new player to start with, or at least those are the two that I recommend in a heartbeat. Claudette is base game, where as Nancy is locked behind a paywall of the Stranger Things DLC or Auric Cells, or the luck of the draw with the Shrine of Secrets. Med-kits are tied to the Bloodweb, and for anyone who knows about cycling them for specific perks/add-ons/items can tell you, "consistency" is not a word that the Entity knows.

I'm not here to convince anyone to switch to Self-Care as a healing option, or say that it is objectively the best. Just that this is the how and why of my use of the perk. I don't expect to make any friends by saying all of this and I don't care either way. I'm not an immersive P3 Blendette that hides in a corner all match to heal, since I now main Yui who's also my only prestiged character, but just an average player in red ranks who likes to have two health states and unrestricted perks where possible. I can't trust anyone as is, and usually have a mentality of "I can do it just fine myself" in a variety of things, not just in game.

Use whatever perks you want, but don't demean, harass or make insulting remarks to people who use perks you don't like. If you think less of them, keep it to yourself. Nobody asked and nobody cares if you do.

I'll see you all in the fog.

Use BOND and let your team get the points. Please stop using Self Care. Please.

No. I even tripled checked in the end-game results screen to see if I was missing anything. I'm the only one who brought an offering and it didn't register. Now I just played a game where 3 people brought the cakes and I brought a BPS, and it seems have given me much more than 412%. Maybe I'm doing my math wrong on this one but I don't think so.

However, about the original post, as I said, no one else brought any offerings except Killer, but the BPS was right there by my name and it didn't register :(

I can't believe I have to whip out a calculator to play this game LOL

For the game where I got too many blood points, it could very well be because an extra person had brought the 104% cake and it wasn't registering in the end-game result screen. I don't know now but that could've been it.

But yet again I played a game where only one person brought the cake and I brought BPS and it only gave me 104% more points instead of 204%. Very strange that sometimes they seem to be working and other times not. Of course I'm no mathematician and could completely be missing something here but I'm being as thorough as I can... although I wish I didn't have to be and could just trust the game to do as it says it will. :'( I save my streamers for moments like this and it sucks to see them get flushed down the drain.

    A few questions then:

Did you purchase the Silent Hill chapter from the store, with cells, or not at all?

Are you using the D-pad for the inputs instead of the stick? Are you using a non-standard PS4 controller?

Are you doing it on the main menu (where you can select the game modes)?

    Great questions. Got me thinking...

I did purchase both characters from the Silent Hill chapter with auric cells. I couldn't find the DLC in the Playstation Store at all upon release, otherwise I would've purchased it that way.

I was only using the D-pad to enter the code but after reading your comment, I did try both joy sticks and it still didn't work. I am using a standard PS4 controller.

I am doing it from the main menu as well.

  • Yes I did try that too. Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, O, X, Options...

    Didn't work :(

Yeah I've tried different combos too. Doesn't seem to be working or I'm doing it wrong. My original post says I pressed START at the end but of course the PS4 doesn't have that button. I meant to say OPTIONS. I tried the touch pad instead of OPTIONS. Idk. We'll see I guess...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/132998/dc-penalty-times

I didn't read the entirety of your posts. It seemed..unnecessary given the subject matter. In any case, your second crash wasn't for 15 minutes, and your third wasn't for 30 minutes unless there were actual disconnects (intentional ones) in there somewhere.

    It goes:

    1. 5 minutes
    2. 5 minutes
    3. 15 minutes
    4. 15 minutes
    5. 30 minutes
    6. 30 minutes
    7. 60 minutes
    8. 60 minutes
    9. etc etc.

Hmmm.. well that's not how it seems to be working for me. There were no other intentional or unintentional DCs between Friday and Sunday so idk.

Would you happen to know if this is a stackable penalty system or does it reset over time?

    Thanks!

  • OH! not to mention the random disconnects when players fall out of the game during the final loading screen is just another time waster. I understand why they changed it so there MUST be 5 players loading into a match but man, sometimes I'd rather just play 1v1... at least I'm actually playing.

AND the random error disconnects, bringing you back to main menu, are seemingly becoming more and more prevalent and I can't quite figure out what is causing this.

  • I see Steve's and Nancy's all the time on PS4.

Demo: only really sometimes but it's not never.

As a solo queue survivor, I like to play with 'Better Together'. Sometimes I run 'Inner Strength' if I'm not bringing a medkit or Self-Care.

Lastly, I'm pretty happy I don't land in Hawkins Lab all that often. That map is beautiful but I hardly ever escape as survivor.

  • @Hex_KillerMainBTW said:

You don't get to kick them. Think of it this way, you down someone, you kick a gen then hook the survivor. You want to go back to the gen with Pop goes the weezel to kick it again, but you can't. Basically as soon as they get off the gen and stop working on it--it begins to regress.

I see. I'm wondering how it will apply points to... is it the Brutality emblem you score points in for kicking gens? I think so.... Without being able to kick the gens, how are you going to earn points in that emblem or does it all just add itself up in the end?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/114606/devs-how-to-balance-swf

You cant get rid of it now. To many people play with their friends. It would cause a revolt in the community and a lot of people would prolly stop playing.

Instead they need to balance maps, they are out of control and make a model for map size so we dont have anymore large ones. Prolly need to give some of them the swamp treatment and shrink them (rotten fields, red forest, mt. Ormond, etc.)

I see what you're saying but honestly - I'm okay with saying, "Goodbye" to SWF groups then.

If you decide to stop playing DBD because SWF is not an option - then it was never really a game meant for you.

    My opinion.

    Thanks!

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

This wouldn't be a bad idea if the game was balanced around solo queue. It's not so no.

Well... how I see it: once they get rid of SWF, they can balance it around solo queue and it would be that much easier to balance without having to take into account all these different aspects.

    Just my opinion!

    Thanks!

  • @Poochkips said:

You do understand that doing so will draw massive backlash. At this point it would be an extremely stupid idea to remove it lol

I believe the game would survive and even thrive without SWF.

I can't even wrap my head around how the devs try to balance this game for Solo AAAAAAAND SWF Survivors but I guess there's a way (but not really...)

Getting rid of SWF would just be another thing they wouldn't have to concern themselves over and help the health and integrity of the game.

Sure there'd be a backlash (not from me tho) but people would still play. If you decide you don't want to play Dead By Daylight anymore because you can't team up with your friends to survive - then maybe this isn't the game for you.

However, stupid idea? I strongly disagree.

    Thanks!

Rank Reset: The Rank Reset will now reset players back one rank crest color. This is how rank reset works now. If your rank didn't change it could be a bug.

About the main post, If they Killer has NOED, why did you start the EGC by opening a door? You arent expected to open a door instantly. Do it when you know you have to. It may sound complicated, but why not look for the totems, and then open it instead?

There still are times when, as a survivor, you don't learn killer has NOED until after EGC has started. But even without NOED, it still happens sometimes that there is not enough time.

I understand the strategy of 99ing the gates, but it does feel counterproductive since the objective is to get them open and escape. On top of having no control over what the other 3 survivors are doing or if a survivor has to open the door cause the killer is on their tail.

Although an extra minute may seem like it benefits the survivors more, the killer can benefit too by getting actual hooks.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/900685#Comment_900685

Everyone strongly disagrees with you on this is all; and you've been lashing out rudely at them for doing so; if you do that you can expect them to start snapping back.

The end game collapse very rarely exhaust's it's time as is; and it's meant to be more difficult to escape the longer you remain. Currently it feels their is no situation in which increasing it does anything more than give survivors more of an edge; for no due reason.

It also already slows down when on a hook or dying state; but stopping completely is simply out of the question for multiple reasons.

They looked into how long it takes survivors to play the endgame out, and escape and so on and based the timer off a comparison of many games. It's one of the few things in this game in a good spot right now.

I only lashed out on the guy who spelled 'immortal' wrong for his handle, and only after his rude comment to me. And of course killer mains want the EGC to be shorter - that's a given.

We can disagree about EGC time all day long, and you can give me all the reasons but it doesn't change my mind.

The developers are constantly tweaking this game so I'm not so sure they're first, second, or even third idea is exactly what is needed, and I would apply this greatly to the EGC.....

    ....is all.

  • @Fibijean said:

The EGC is designed to put pressure on the survivors and force them to make tough decisions.

It was never meant to give them all the time they needed to tie up loose ends, maybe cleanse a few extra totems and dance out the gates in a conga line (I'm exaggerating for effect, of course, but I hope you get the point).

I think the timer is a good length. When I play survivor, it often feels too short, but when I play killer, it often feels too long. In my opinion, that's how we know it's balanced!

If it's something you're really having issues with, that's why 99ing the gates is a thing. If one of your teammates opens them anyway, you might need to make some tough calls, especially if NOED is involved. Most of the time though, you should still be able to get people off the hook in time.

The EGC is not a time for standing around and healing unless you're already safe and want the points. If someone has been rescued, you all should be hightailing it to the gates and bodyblocking for the wounded if necessary. There's no time for anything else - and that's the whole point.

Yes I understand this but there still are situations where there is not enough time for saving survivors and high tailing it out of there. Not often, sure, but enough times for me to notice.

I know tough decisions must be made but it really does stink when the EGC is halfway through and the killer happens to down someone across the map.

I'm simply asking for a little more time, or a mechanic that would allow for a better chance to escape in these situations.

Most times, during the end game collapse, if the killer only has that 1 person hooked, hes probably camping the survivor. Which leads to even less time for us remaining survivors to coordinate and get them out safely, especially when the killer is able to down someone else after that survivor is unhooked.

I never thought asking for MORE time to play in game would get me such vitriol from the community (not you, Fibijean, but others).

    Thank you.

Yes, I think it's fine too - when I play killer. Hey, free kills? Why not.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/900456#Comment_900456

Ah yes, they see the failure in your demand so they must be killer mains. I play both and I can tell you it's already plenty long enough. I've only seen one person even expire to it in every game I've played since the endgame collapse was added. One, out of hundreds and hundreds of games.

In no way could that be conceived as too short.

I'm halfway to Devotion 7 so, yes, I've played quite a few games as well and if I had video footage of every time the EGC inconvenienced what would've been an otherwise exciting rescue and escape, or when survivors don't even bother to unhook anyone cause we/they know we don't have the time - you'd have a good amount of footage to watch.

I am a survivor main BTW, which may seem like I'm biased but: more time for survivors to escape just equals more time for the killer to get downs, so I think it's fair enough.

I'm also happy for you that you seem to have linked up with pretty good survivors that you've only seen ONE end game collapse kill. So ... congrats!

  • @GhostofYharnam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/111006/lengthen-the-egc-already

The point of the egc is to get the hell out of there. If someone is down or on hook don't open gates all the way. Egc slows down if people are in dying state or on hook.

I understand the point of the EGC and even why it was implemented. My point is that it is too short.

99ing the gates when a survivor is hooked is a strategy, sure, but it does goes against the objective of the survivors. Also, survivors, of course, can get downed after the gates are open. I've had this situation happen a few times:

(Gens done, maybe one or two survivors are injured, someone/me opens the gates and starts the EGC, a survivor goes down almost halfway across the map, depending on how far along the EGC is: survivors know we don't have enough time to get them AND get out, survivors just wait by the exit gates while killer camps the only kill he can get.)

I've died more times than I care to count by trying to save a survivor off the hook and run to the exit gates, only to be eaten by the floor. It happens.

The excitement of trying to get yourself and all other survivors out at the end, unhook them, heal them, etc. is probably one of the funner parts of this game. It just dampens that excitement when I/we could've easily gotten away if it wasn't for that meddling timer!!

  • All these killer mains don't want an extended EGC. Lol. Surprise!!!!!

  • You were right. Exit Gate escape only!!! Just got it! Thank you!!!!!! <3

No, I am not sure. lol. Sorry I'm so lost.

None of the perks appear as orange when I look at them in the 'load out' for the character.

I was working on the Adept trophies (PS4), so I was leveling up each character in order to open up three perk slots and then escape/kill everyone using that character's 3 unique perks (got all but 5 trophies already). I thought that by having those perks accessible to the character to use in game, that perk was able to be traded out for the 100-150k BPs. All but 2 of my characters were left at level 20 cause that's the level required (before 2.0) to have 3 perk slots open.

How do you get a teachable version of a perk? Is it by purchasing it through the Shrine or do I have to keep leveling up my character to 30, 35, 40 and buy it through the blood web?

You'll get it by leveling the character to a certain point. For example if you're leveling someone up, in the bloodweb at level 30 you will see your first teachable. The perk will appear orange in the bloodweb. Another will be unlocked at level 35, then again at 40.

I see. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for clarifying!! I've got a lot more leveling up to do then :):)

Once you own the teachable version you should be able to recieve bps instead of the skill in the shrine.  but the short answer is you need the teachable versions available at level 35, 40, and 45.  that said the amount of bps was decreased to 150k. (hope this info helps)

    Isnt it still 30,35,40?

I'm not so much concerned about the amount of BPs you can get for purchasing a perk from the Shrine but more so about actually getting it. Like I said, I have all the unique perks purchased for every character through the blood web, but you're saying that each character has to be leveled up to 30/40/45 in order to receive that big sum of BPs? Or does the perk have to be leveled up/available at tier 3 already?
