  • I'm sorry you experienced this and also that is the state of this game. People will tell you to "get a thick skin" or "just ignore it" or some other BS because they are okay with the toxic behavior. I'd say do what feels right to you to still get enjoyment from the game while protecting your own mental well being.

I just had a game where I was doing my daily for Doc and I got called names for trying to get one kill after all the gens were done and the Survivors used all of their 14th chance perks on me to leave me with a 1k. That right there sums up the Killer experience in total.

It's a game where 4 players get the chance to bully, "outplay", and belittle their opponent. To some people that's a great deal of fun. To anyone with some human emotion and empathy that's pretty much a dick move.

  • I feel bad. Often it's pretty obvious in game when you see Survivors who don't know how the Killer's power works or tactics to counter it.

BUT you gotta learn somehow I guess?

  • @PigEmpress said:

If we want to create more empathy players should be forced to play Killer for every 4-5 games they play as a survivor. I learned to empathize a lot with killers after I started playing one. It would also help with the waiting times and regenerate some of the killer pool. I wouldn't mind playing a killer for every 4-5 games I get in as a survivor.

I think this is a great way to help. Or make it random and you choose a killer and survivor in the Lobby but don't know what you are gonna get until the game starts. That random element would make the game much more interesting!

  • Just had this happen in a game as Survivor and the person who got camped was not pleased (Rank 2). The killer (Rank 10) said "Imagine losing to a face camper"

Best part was the Survivor who got camped had more BP at the end so not sure how that was considered "losing" by the Killer. I dunno man. People are gonna do what they are gonna do and you just have to go with it or not play. Try to be the change you want to see and play nice killer?

  • I've noticed if you back up while picking up you can often avoid the pallet animation and not get hit. Like 50-60% of the time?

  • @CountVampyr said:

Sometimes I wonder. I’m hiding someplace and the killer come straight towards me immediately after hooking somebody, not even looking at more obvious hiding spots. I assume he’s running whispers or some other aura sensing perk or add on and to my surprise he is running absolutely nothing of the sort. Makes me suspicious but nothing really to prove it.

BBQ I would think but if they don't have that perk it might just be practice and the fact many survivors play in a similar style (i.e. go to the same places to heal, or hide, etc) but I have certainly wondered the same thing as Survivor too.

  • Plague has a power that is similar to Doc but it takes a lot more timing and practice. She's not too anti-loop but you can use pallets against players.

In my mind I think of Doc and Legion kinda the same for just chill killing.

  • RULE 69: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POINT OUT THE TOXIC COMMUNITY MEMBERS OR YOU ARE A CRYBABY UNLESS THEY BRAG ABOUT BEING TOXIC PLAYERS CUZ THEN YOU ARE BAD AT THE GAME GIT GUD

  • Wanna play a game?

  • It's very common. You're like "I feel bad, being slugged is not fun, maybe they will see I am being a good sport.." then comes the GIT GUD. BABEE KILLER DURR DURR

  • Sorry you had a bad game. Take a break and maybe try again some day. As you can see from this thread there are plenty of people waiting to crap on you for expressing your frustration.

But also know you will run into far worse as you rank up. And pips and ranks really mean nothing so don't stress about that. ✌️💀✌️

  • Thanks for sharing. Your experience mirrors my own when I started about a year ago as Killer. It gets drastically different from about rank 8 and down. I long for the fun ranks where you can mess around and have fun and maybe still win.

Higher ranks you run into the same 4 perks and often on every player. People ganging up on you so you can't even get 1 hook. Or you get a hook and they just unhook in your face and finish gens in your face and leave tbagging on the way.

Anyhow good luck and I hope to see ya in the fog! ✌️💀✌️

  • I don't think this thread is going anywhere positive so perhaps the Mods can just close it down.

Final thought - Killer players are not your personal punching bag. I'm tired of just "dealing with" the toxic people in this community. I want others who are silent or scared to speak up and let others know we do not appreciate it. That's really all I was hoping to accomplish.

And in the course of the thread we saw all the evidence of exactly what I was referring to and plenty of people playing innocent at the same time. And thus.... if a Killer DC's it's probably because of you*

*you as the Survivor, not you as the person, could be the game you are in or the game before or the game in general.

Maybe I'll see ya in the fog and you can see how badly I need to "git gud" ✌️💀✌️

Well he should actually word it in that way if that's the message he's trying to spread, rather than being vague and leading to more confusion. The way it's currently worded literally just says "if the killer DC's it's because of you and you're part of the problem."

Wasn't trying to be intentionally vague, I was covering all the different situations. Anybody who plays this game on the regular knows what I am talking about but sure love to pretend they don't. Odd.

Jezzes just get gud Sir. If you are realy sad because someone tipped the crouch botton after droping a pallet, then you are the Problem.

Ah the classic "git gud" - I was worried we wouldn't see that in this thread. Achievement unlocked.

Weird you have enough free time to read my posts. Weird and a bit creepy.

Yes, growing up is the problem you have. You came to a forum and put your inability to try on display. Expect people to call you out when you spend the entire thread crying about “game hard no fair :(“

Denial is a hell of a drug eh Jamlpr?

  • This cracks me up. Dude is banned. Self owned.

The amount of pity i'm seeing towards killers dcing in this thread...yikes

Makes you think eh? Maybe this game isn't all jokes and memes and there are actual humans on the other side of the screen.

I'll applaud you for finally recognizing that there is more to this that you realized. But I have to ask that do you realize it took literal video proof for you to consider an alternative while you, yourself provided no proof for your accusation. You painted anyone who plays survivor with a huge brush, demanding more empathy and compassion from them (in game where most survs probably don't you, have every played against you, or if they have were just playing the game) than you seem to give.

In fact from what I gathered from your postings here, you pretty much ignored any counter argument until you had not other choice but to acknowledge it. Even then, you still made excuses. Let me ask you this, do you make similar excuses for survivors who DC? Do you, in those matches when you've had them, project empathy and compassion towards them or the teammates who just got screwed over? I don't expect you to answer me, but another commenter who asked to reconsider you initial words was very on point.

Hey Bobateo - I didn't "realize" anything. I play survivor too I know how it goes. And regarding Survivors who DC I already covered that earlier in the thread. Usually I play more for fun and farming if the Survivors want to. Sometimes they just want me to kill them so they can leave or finish a gen so we can open gates. I'm fine with either.

Just yesterday I had a game like this where I was playing Blight and someone DC'd on their first down. The other survivors ended up getting 27k+ from the game and I only got 20k or so because I didn't get any sacrifices and minimal hooks.

As for painting all Survivors with a big brush - hey I call it like I see it. People do the same to Killer all the time. I would love more evidence of people who don't play in toxic unfun ways but unfortunately mostly I see exactly the opposite. Plenty of people in this thread agree. ✌️💀✌️

I never said I did anything intentional to cause the DC other than playing well. I can understand the assumption that I'm toxic in game because of what I find hilarious, but you're guessing wrong as well. I don't teabag, point, or do anything else over the top because I hate being tunneled and don't want to encourage it.

    This you though?

"I will still laugh my ass off at DCing killers and I'm sure when I DC/Suicide to avoid a Forever Freddy, Iri Kuntress..."

  • I appreciate your addition to the thread Indieeden7. It's interesting to see it from your perspective.

The videos you posted I couldn't tell you why the Killer DC'd but it's likely the spins and FOV pissing them off. That's just my guess from watching you in chase with them. Also a lot of them were Legion? Kinda odd since Legion is typically a good killer to play with if you just want chill games and BP.

But what we can't see is what happened elsewhere in the matches vs other survivors. Could be someone just set them off. Or the game before started out like your videos and they just said "not again... to hell with this"

It's not fun for anyone when DC are involved that's for sure.

Big stretch there, but I’m glad you’re trying to put something coherent together.

You play killer bud. A win could not, literally, be any more spoon fed than it is. If you’re DCing it is because you have a garbage teammate. Stop complaining on the forums and go improve so you stop REEEEEEEEEEing every time you meet someone better than you.

Growing up is hard, but necessary.

Ah yes "Growing Up". I read your 36 forum posts and they are all basically you telling people they are bad at the game and life. Maybe you should look in the mirror. Do a little self contemplation. Why do you need to talk down to people to make yourself feel "good at the game"? If you're good you're good and it really doesn't matter what others do or think.

Coherent or is it too much for you?

  • I love how people pretend they know nothing about the toxic community in this thread. Then proceed to insult me and everyone else who agrees. Really says a lot. Keep living your delusions - the sky is the limit!

  • I'm saying you aren't good at the game. Sorry if it went over your head.

  • Your life must be full of a lot of pain then huh

  • Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

  • Imagine leaving that post here. Oh wait you did

  • I like to do the sideways walk when I see a Survivor with Spine Chill. It really messes them up sometimes!

  • I'm always trying to have fun. I wish others were trying to as well and that their idea of "fun" wasn't making others feel like crap.

Sorry, I’m not some baby loser who DCs when things don’t go my way.

You should be sorry for your poor attitude and lack of positive contribution to the game community. But keep up with the personal insults - it'll get ya far in life.

  • @MissMayluna said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1907718#Comment_1907718

Certainly another good point, and you aren't wrong. There is a difference between a group straight up ganging up on a killer, and a killer not knowing when to abandon the chase.

There are also some people who are just not in a good head space, and thus DC.

But sometimes the difference can be that empathy instead of being rude, and you show a great example of this. Empathizing with the frustrated killers at times, especially new ones is a good step, and the community needs more of that.

MissMayluna gets it. Show some empathy and remember that another human being is playing a game with you. It's called sportsmanship.

  • I see a lot of comments here that are pretty much the same and I want to respond in one post:

    • "Sorry you aren't good" or "I'm better and you are not" - sorry your perceived ability to play the game is more important than your humanity
    • "Probably laugh when Survivor DCs" - nope. I already responded to this.
    • "It's on you if the game bothers you, take responsibility" - I do. Do you?
    • "It's not all players/Survivors fault" - You're right. It's not. Interesting that you think you may be one of them? What do you know we don't?
    • "It's the Killers fault if they want to DC" - it's their choice 100% but for you to pretend your gameplay has no part in it is supreme arrogance.

And to the stories of Killer's DCing with seemingly no reasons or what you consider to be "baby" reasons - you have no idea what they saw or experienced. You aren't them. But you can check your own actions and change them accordingly.

End of the day we can only control what we do in life (and this game). You can't control others and I don't expect people act differently. I know I am speaking for many Killers with my original post and I stand by it. Sorry if it ya can't take the heat.

  • Playing a good game and getting plenty of hooks only to have Survivors use meta perks 8 or more times against me and just walk out the gates.

  • Another massive addition (in a steaming pile) to the thread. You're on a roll

  • @celesteismore said:

Nothing like downing someone quickly and once you hook them 3 gens pop....

    That's when I DC

  • Cool. That was a great addition to the conversation. Too bad you aren't more like your name and SILENT

  • New Killers probably don't even know what they are doing is considered "wrong" in the scope of the game. There is nothing in game that tells you not to do it. Most players are introduced to the idea of it being a bad thing in game at the end chat - typically with toxic attitudes coming at them.

Once I realized I could get a lot more BP playing the "friendly" way I never went back. There are times though where it's your only real option as killer.

    • You keep running into the same survivor
    • You are playing a team with multiple players with the same character and outfit (Bill especially) and lose track
    • You are trying to get use out of your perks to help shift the game momentum
    • You are down to 3 or less gens and don't have many/any hooks or even hits
    • Survivors are healing really quickly
    • Survivors are doing everything "in your face"
    • Survivors all run the same combos and you have to hit through all the DS/Unbreakable and Borrowed Time crap
  • @smart212 said:

I already DC 5 times in a day and now get 48 hours matchmaking ban. Im so happy and i can killing time to play another game. DC is kind of hooking attempt suicide on killer side. When the survivor toxic , tbag and body blocking DC is acceptable, i think its a cure for your mental health state to DCing. Killer gameplay already stressfull because you facing 4 brain of human. Dont waste your time and make yourself stress, we play a game to refresh our brain not making it worse.

Absolutely agree. I'll take a ban and keep my sanity rather than get pissed off at some rude gameplay from immature people. I have plenty of other games to play and I didn't wait 10-20mins for a match like the survivors did.

  • @Starr43 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/223064/if-a-killer-disconnects

I get stunned at a pallet and tbagged by an entire team so then I say f it and slug for the 4K when I’m usually very chill then get called a piece of sh** etc. There’s so winning so just keep on keeping on and try to have some fun. Don’t be afraid to take breaks too.

I can typically only play 3-4 matches as Killer before I feel so ######### I have to quit or take a break. Many days I can't even work up the interest to even launch or play at all. I'll always try to have fun but I am tired of being a punching bag for others.

  • @CountVampyr said:

Honestly people need to stop playing the victim. Survivors aren’t any more the problem than the killers are. Neither side owes the other one anything. Don’t like keys? Hate moris and insta-downs? Suck it up, buttercup. They’re legal. They’re going to be used.

Nobody is playing the victim. I am trying to play a game for fun in my free time. When it works out that everyone is on that same wavelength it's a great time win or lose. When it doesn't line up that way... I got better things to do with my time and life.

  • @aEONoHM said:

And lemme guess. You're going to pretend a survivor DCing after being outplayed isn't something you find amusing? Hypocrites.

Ya guessed wrong. I hate it when survivors DC because it likely means they were having a bad game and I don't like playing to intentionally give people that experience unlike you.

It also makes the game unfun for the other Survivors many times as well. That 1 DC could ruin the game for 4 other players and it makes me feel bad if I contributed something in game that led them to that choice.

  • My best tip - use perks that are "passive" and don't require you to change your playstyle too much. As others have said you will need to adjust your play against each group differently.

Perk I like a lot on Hag - Forced Penance. This helps with both the body blockers, object users, and flashy savers. Plus you can put pressure on them really quick while they can't heal.

Another Perk I like a lot on Hag - Agitation. Being able to choose where you want to put a survivor on hook is critical to maintaining your web of traps.

Hide your traps. Use the traps in "obvious" places to lure in the "smart" survivors and when they are feeling cocky and confident they hit the other trap you set nearby expecting them to find the first. WHACK

I love Hag. Really really fun killer to play and very versatile. I know people don't like playing against her because she can put a lot of pressure on the unhooks and bad players like to camp with her. But for me it's LISA 4 LYFE

  • My build is the same but I like to run Spies or I'm all ears for info and running loops.

Save The Best For Last is always good with Trapper. It makes your M1 usage way more powerful and you can save stacks by trapping and grabbing the Obsession. For me it's a must have on Trapper

  • Man I wish I could have been killer in all those games. Sounds like a great time

  • Blight can be really good. But a lot of it is map dependent. His addons are really strong.

If you think Blight is too strong I would suggest playing with him. Learn how he plays and you will be better at avoiding his powers.

  • Leave. Nobody cares about you. You are not special. Congrats you escaped. HURRAH

If it happens to you just break pallets, doors, or spam powers to get BP. You'll get a lot more out of that than hitting dweebs playing with their teabags in the waiting room.

I wish there was a time for how long you could be in there before the exit gates closes forever for you and you couldn't escape.

  • I want to become a Plague main! But waiting for some changes/fixes before I commit.

  • No. No I do not love it. I've been playing games online for 20+ years and worked in the games industry. It's been growing worse across the board every year. Now people just think "that's how it is" and don't even play MP games anymore. It's not cool.

  • I feel this too. And if a game is causing you serious mental health concerns I don't think anyone would recommend playing it. You can't force people to do things or be the way you want you can only control your own actions. Hopefully more people will try being polite and competing in a way where everyone can enjoy the game and not just "deal with" the toxic community to get by.

  • I'm still learning the P Head but I like playing him. His playstyle is very oppressive. Still trying out all sorts of perk combos. I get more DC with Pyramidhead than Legion or Deadslinger. People really don't like him when you are winning. He has major comeback potential too - especially if you are using his cage! Just don't be afraid to hook someone if the cage is gonna appear next to their team.
