  • BHVR should feel ashamed.

I get DDOS'in is not an easy thing to stop but they reason they could do it is because of the free spectator slots. Otz made this very clear early on and the solution was right there and BHVR out of pure arrogance decided to ignore Otz and ended up aiding the hackers.

    You should be utterly EMBARESSED.

  • Lets make something clear, IF they did make it smaller it does not look like it and they didn't do enough. The map is STILL far too big.

  • I'm not sure exactly what to do with ghostface but his power just isn't fun, I just think they should come up with something new, test it in a future PTB and see if its received well, my concern is they're gonna give him the changes and then just wash their hands of him like they did to clown.

  • @TransverseCaster said:

    Wrong.

Oh wow, can't argue with that, totally bulletproof.

  • People will continue to quit the game because of hackers. The numbers are dropping and this is one of the reasons, so you might want to start considering some drastic changes. You can never fully get rid of them but it feels like BHVR isn't doing enough.

  • This has the same energy as all those people who want felix to take his clothes off.

I'm not opposed to the idea though.....

  • The perk is down for being changed at some point so hopefully we will see this perk become less BS soon.

  • @Tsukah said:

To be fair, being the first one hooked/downed always sucks.

That's no reason to be a jerk and ragequit though. Sometimes you'll be the first one downed and hooked that's just how it is. I can't tell you how many matches I get hooked first but end up escaping anyway.

The match is definitely still winnable and by doing that at the start of a match youre basically dooming the other 3 to a loss.

  • At the very least make it do something good. Right now it's easily one of the most worthless perks in the game. How has it been left for this long? Surely the devs know how bad it is?

DbD is losing playerbase. I mean game is not dying for sure but they are not going well either.

If this keeps up they may finally start to consider an operation health

  • Blight is one of the most balanced killers in the game, he is strong, not op. Alchemists ring is the only op thing about him.

  • Yep, they should have done this ages ago, the game still has so many balance issues that taking a break from adding content and focusing entirely on health would be a good move.

The reality of the situation is BHVR won't do that because in order to do that it means no money from new chapters for however long they would need to do this. They care more about money than they do game balance.

The only thing that might get their attention is if the player base dropped massively or if more people stopped giving them money.

Should be closer to 40-60 IMO. 20 is too low and ruins strategic bodyblocking.

I'm ok with that, basically just make it so she can't get people killed by just sitting in front of one jigsaw box forever.

  • Just make it so if she stays near a box for more than 20 seconds and it's a box for a players trap it becomes another box on the map. AFK pig is dumb and will lose you most matches but the fact its even possible at all is pretty ridiculous and it's borderline holding the game hostage.

  • You literally just need to nerf alchemists ring and he's pretty much fine.

I’m done arguing with you, you’re simply ignoring things I said because they don’t align with your faulty assumptions about long it would take to remove all the perk tiers, how long it would take for grind to be an issue (or even possibly still be an issue even if all the perk tiers were removed!) and are underestimating the value of doing a broader approach versus a bandaid fix.

You're the one with faulty assumptions, you've been given plenty of reasons and evidence in favour of removing perk tiers and you simply refuse to accept it. You can only mention some vague soonTM fix we have no details about claiming it'd be better when you know NOTHING about this plan they have. It could be worse for all you know! Meanwhile it's proven removing perk tiers would be good for the game without needing to rework the whole system and would not become an issue for a minimum of 5 years.

Its not a bandaid fix, perk tiers have no reason to be around anymore. bhvr should remove them. That's what I think.

I gave multiple reasons why removing all the perks is a large development project, you’re just ignoring them the same way you’re ignoring the reason I said your 10 year estimate is too large.

Also your saying “there are other issues to look at but this is one they should do” is falsely implying they’re doing nothing about the grind. But we already know they’re working on a major revamp of the bloodweb system specifically to reduce the grind which would already deal with the whole reason to get rid of perk tiers in the first place, assuming they aren’t already planning to do it as part of that revamp in the first place.

You've given nothing to prove it's some huge project. I told you unless you can actually prove it then I see no reason why this isn't achievable in a sensible time frame. You're stanning so hard for BHVR you're just ignoring all the evidence people have given while providing nothing to back up what you're saying. You are just wrong.

  • Merciless storm is really not OP, I don't think it needs to be changed at all. I think a lot of people will get used to the skill checks over time and you'll see it become less and less effective, I'm already starting yo hit the skill checks a lot more than I did on release . Both of onryo's other perks are more powerful imo.

  • The only thing wraith needed was the nerf to all seeing, the lunge nerf is unessescary. Its a perfect example of something getting nerfed because bad survivors couldn't handle it. They could buff his lunge and he would be totally fine.

  • Prestige is so pointless, feels like an outdated part of the game that made more sense when there were less survivors and killers.

The fact you lose everything in exchange for a cosmetic and slightly more rare addons showing up in the bloodweb (depending on the killer this could be a bad thing) is just ridiculous.

They've said there's something in the works for prestige but until we know what that is the current one is all we got and it sucks.

You didn't actually prove anything like what you said. As I explained above, your assumption that the game would have to get back to the same total number of perks for it to become an issue again is faulty. It would only need to get to the level at which it initially became a problem in the first place which was a while ago.

And what exactly is it you expect me to "prove" with my explanation of why it's more complicated than just changing some tables? How about you "prove" it's as simple as you think it is?

You're hanging onto this "it was a problem 3 years ago!" Like a lifeline because you can't actually come up with anything concrete to go against the evidence that shows how long it would take to reach this level of grind again. Again by your admission you gave 5 years as a figure which is still a long time, even with your minimal 3 years that's a lot of time for them to continue working on the grind issues once they remove tiers. I've already proven how long it'd take btw and its much longer than you're claiming but even if your claims were right my point still stands.

Nothing you've said changes the fact that BHVR's explanation makes no sense. You've still not given any good reason why removing perk tiers is some gargantuan task. As I said it's not a simple task but it's not like reworking the entire game from the ground up.

Its worth investing time into because it would absoloutely help the grind issues, should they just get rid of perk tiers and call it a day? No they shouldn't. There are other issues to look at buy this is one that they should absoloutely do.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2851857#Comment_2851857

You're assuming that the grind is only now becoming an issue, when really it's been an issue on their radar for a while. The number of total perks doesn't need to rise to the current level for it to become worth handling, it only has to get back to the point that people noticed it in the first place which was probably a few years ago. The game is 6 years old, so if it took it 3 years to get to the point that the bloodweb started to become too much of a grind it's not out of the question that another 3-5 years worth of characters would bring it back to that state even after culling perks.

Also as to how long it would take, let's go with that 9 months to 1 year amount. That's a major development project. Why spend that much time and manpower on a relatively short term fix that might need to be repeated down the line when they can spend about the same amount of time on a longer term solution that doesn't need to be done again later? And I'm assuming it's more complicated then just literally deleting perks from a table. They'd want to also look at anything that touches perks, like how the bloodweb generates perks and the character menus involving perks and rift challenges that involve particular perks and so on to make sure they don't accidentally break something when they remove all those perks. I'm obviously not saying that's impossible to do or anything but it's clearly a lot more complicated than just changing numbers in a table.

3-5 years wouldn't even be close as I just proved to you, even 5 years is a long time btw, so even by your own admission it would take a long time to get back to that level of grind and it would be a lot longer than 5 lol. By all means let them do even more to make it even better rather than just removing the tiers but you're just wrong if you can't understand why perk tiers need to go.

On your second point you've said nothing that changes what I already said, we've already established its more than just a short term fix, Again unless there's some specifics you can give you cannot prove that this is the gargantuan task you are making it out to be.

I'll tell you a phrase from one series, "easy victory, worse than defeat"

If everyone swings easily, everyone will quickly lose interest. We need another idea. Upgrading the character to the required levels and perks is a kind of challenge, a huge achievement to which you strive by playing more and more, the developers are interested in people playing more to get game currency for progress than if you play less in their game to get everything straightaway.

P.S. Player opinion with 18k+ hours in the game

If the game immediately loses all playability just because you have all the perks, then it doesn't deserve to keep going. As someone who has 18k hours you should know really know better.

There should be a grind, its great to have things to aim for but the current grind is ridiculous, back when there were about 30 perks in the game it made sense but we have just under 200 perks in total now. The grind needs reducing and there are multiple ways of doing this but one that would help is the removal of perk tiers. They do not belong in the current state of the game.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2851662#Comment_2851662

Where are you getting this “10 years” thing from?

And why do you think it wouldn’t take a ton of development time to go through 180 perks individually and remove the lower tier ones? That’s not a simple change.

If you remove perk tiers then the number of times you would need to grab perks off of bloodwebs drops from 591 to 197 roughly (this is to get every perk at level 3 on one killer and one survivor) . They would need to add around triple the amount of playable characters currently in the game in order to reach that number again since every character comes with 3 perks. We get 4 killers and 4 survivors every year usually with a few exceptions (like RE chapter) but lets keep it to the average for now.

30 survivors and 27 killers at the moment and there would need to be 90 survivors and 81 killers roughly to reach the amount of the current grind we have in the game with 3 tiers for every single perk if every perk was just the perk with no tiers. Now how long at the current rate of content being added to the game do you think it would take to reach those numbers? Its at least 10 so actually I was being pretty generous by saying 10. This is why the Dev's reasoning does not add up, it would take way longer than the game probably has left alive for the game to catch up on the grind that we lose if perks tiers went away today.

I'm not opposed to the devs doing more than JUST getting rid of perk tiers, anything to reduce the unfun and insane grind this game has is great but they said no on the Q&A so I have no reason to believe that perk tier removal is being considered for whatever plans they have for the grind. I'm just pointing out how it makes absolutely no sense not to remove perk tiers.

On the second point, why do you think it would take a ton of time to remove tiers? I'm not saying it would take 5 minutes but unless you can give me specific details on how and why it would take so long to do this I see no reason why it couldn't be done by the end of this year.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2851588#Comment_2851588

Their explanation made sense to me. It was that rather than spend a ton of development time removing perk tiers and then having to deal with the issue again in a couple years they may as well spend a bit of extra time now in a broader way that they won’t hopefully have to revisit again.

You keep ignoring the fact that its proven this wouldn't even be a problem again for 10 years and there's no guarantee DBD will even be getting updates at that point. This is why the explanation makes no sense, they're acting as if in a year we'd be back to square one and we would not. Also don't act like it would take a "ton of development time" to remove perk tiers.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2850949#Comment_2850949

Actually what the devs said was that they didn’t want to remove perk levels by itself since it wouldn’t be a long term solution on its own. They didn’t say they wouldn’t possibly do it as part of a much broader revamp that they are looking at.

Do you think 10 years is long term or not cause that's a pretty long time. I'm fine with them coming up with a way to reduce the grind if it works but they have not given an explanation about why they wouldn't remove perk tiers that makes sense.

  • @Emeal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2850934#Comment_2850934

The problem would also be fixed by unlocking all perks from the beginning. its about keeping the grind, without requiring the grind.

And the game still has a grind even if you only had to get each perk once. You still need to do it for all the characters you play.

    @dugman said:

Just a reminder that the devs have said a couple of times (including this morning in another thread) that they have a major revamp in the works to reduce the perceived grind. They haven’t given details yet but it’s entirely possible that either perk tiers will go away as part of it or the change they’re making will make perk tiers existing not be much of an issue (e.g. if they make it more like a shop where you can swap out unwanted things for things you’d like to use then perks having multiple levels isn’t as big a deal.)

The Dev's said in a Q&A that they wouldn't remove perk tiers because it would only be a temporary fix and become a problem again once they add more content to the game. People have worked out it would take 10 years of adding content to get to the current level of grind if they removed tiers. I know they have something planned for the grind but their reasoning for not removing them makes no sense.

  • @Emeal said:

You don't need all perks at tier 3. BHVR has committed to that, so if there are perks that dont work on low tier, give them the feedback.

What would be better is a part of the entity's web should always spawn a tier 1 perk if available.

Then a person could easily get all perks on a character,

You can't see how that problem is immediately fixed upon removal of perk Tiers?

  • @Erd69 said:

He was making fun of Patrick. Plus behavior can do that if they please. He's also using clips of Patrick where he coughs and the twitch shirt flies off David king (idk if you've seen that clip) but imagine how behavior would feel? Darn

If Patrick wants to be center stage of the Q&As then people are going to respond to stuff he says and that includes criticism. Acting like any of the "jokes" in this case were anything so bad it warranted a punishment is a complete and utter over reaction. It's not even comparable to some of the really nasty stuff other people do say.

Also not sure why BHVR stans use this "they can do what they want stance". Yes they can do what they want but they can't complain about how "people think we don't listen when we do!" When they pull stunts like this. There's consequences for actions even if you had the "right" to do them.

  • @Smoe said:

    • There's a difference between constructive criticism and unconstructive criticism, making multiple videos and posts on social medias targeting a specific developer plus saying things like "I don't understand how he can just sit there and lie to our faces with a sh*t eating grin" isn't constructive in the slightest and does very much seem like attacking. It also breaks the "Be an (exemplary) Dead by Daylight content creator in good standing with Twitch" rule required for having the shirt.

The criticism you are referring to was constructive if you look at the whole picture and not just cherry pick stuff that wasn't even that bad (or untrue) to say. Anyone who thinks that was some sort of attack is just being way too fragile. Just the fact that was really worst quote you could come up with says a lot.

its certainly not a good look and it very much feeds into the "BHVR aren't listening to people". When I see people being punished for speaking out as if its a warning to all streamers to not say anything bad about the game that makes me think BHVR does not listen to people.

  • @R1ch4rd_N1x0n said:

Without perk Tiers, getting perks you want would be far too easy. I don't know why everyone thinks they should go.

Because its a no brainer, why does it matter if its easier to get perks? With the huge amount of perks in the game it would still take time to get them all and you're never guaranteed exactly what you want. I guarantee you it'd be nothing but good for the game if they did this.

  • Recently BHVR have shown that they cannot take criticism, they view it as "personal attacks" so I think that they dismiss a lot of valid criticism because they somehow see it as people being "mean".

Someone had their twitch shirts removed because they dared to give valid criticism and did not personally attack any devs. It would seem to me that BHVR would rather been seen as defensive and unable to handle criticism than they would as people who listen.

Of course, people do personally attack them but BHVR's problem is not being able to distinguish attacks and criticism.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

...never would have expected to see people saying this is no big deal that survivors get a permanent wall hack in game and that isn't game breaking for the killer side

You must have missed the part where I said I already played this game. I already had to go against perma wallhacks object on maps with 2x the pallets of the current ones. So now it's back, and they have to be injured the whole time and undetectable is a thing? I'm not worried about it at all. I didn't see a single person try it the whole weekend.

Put your money where your mouth is, go against a 4 man swf with thousands of hours and let them use this and see what happens.

You're that person who can't an issue in something unless it inconveniences you personally. I haven't gone against this myself but i mention it because I can see the massive issue that this is. This is not intentional and giving any decent survivor wallhacks like this is really bad. Why do you think original object got changed on the first place?

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847531#Comment_2847531

It is. Every post on this forum is basically a waste of time. The dev's don't read most of them.

If the killer is in undetectable 90% of the game, then this combo doesn't work. In fact it totally benefits the killer. So when the killer being played the overwhelming majority of the time is an undetectable killer, who cares?

I had to deal with Object being perma wallhacks for years, even against stealth killers. If it's back but they need to be injured and it takes 2 perk slots now, I don't care that much. I beat it back then and ill beat it now if I see it.

Your logic is hilariously flawed, first off nobody cares you used to beat people with the old object, you're not special for doing that. So using this as an opportunity to boast about how you "beat them then and you'll beat them now" is just weird. The facts here are this is an unintended effect of this combination so it needs to be addressed, even if this somehow was never a problem for stealth killers (and it is, try going against good survivors abusing this combo and let me know how that goes) that's still a vast majority of the killers in the game who can't do anything about this. It's straight up delusion to now see the issue here.

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2847524#Comment_2847524

You clearly don't understand how undetectable works.

Way to dodge everything I said. If you can't see why this is a problem its a waste of time trying to talk to you.

  • @OpenX said:

Uhh, with the Onryo spam right now.....I don't think it 's that big of a deal. If you wanna go have 1 way wallhacks against you vs. stealth killers be my guest

Onryo still needs to uncloak to hit you? so this is still a problem even for stealth killers, plus you really suggesting everyone is only playing onryo right now? How can you not see how this is a huge problem?

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/313441/mmr-ruins-experience-when-playing-as-the-new-killer

As far as we know, SBMM puts any 'new' killer you own just underneath the MMR of your 'best' killer. Why this would be is anyone's guess.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2841995#Comment_2841995

There are extended periods where it feels like it's working properly, then it dumps you against the same 10000 hour SWF team twice in a row.

See I do think you shouldn't just start at 0 because then you'd have killers with thousands of hours going against complete newbies which isn't really fair but it should be low enough that you can see a clear difference between when you play as your best killer and when you play as a new killer and frankly these survivors I am getting with sadako are the same as the ones I get when playing Demo and Freddy (most played killers for me)

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

SBMM is just weird and inconsistent, often focusing on short queue times instead of good, balanced matches

I'd go as far as to point to it being one of the biggest reasons less and less people are playing DBD, people put up with a lot of frustration trying to play this game and people can only take so much before they just stop playing.

  • Boil over is one of the many, many examples of how out of touch the Devs are with their own game, the fact they could not foresee the issues with certain maps and how people would troll with the new boil over is honestly shocking. This coupled with the QnA and how BHVR seems to handle criticism make me very concerned.

  • Just died thanks to this, would love to see something done about it soon!

  • It's still happening to me, #########? I really hate these maps too.

  • Ok, he invited that himself by clearly behaving badly but go ahead and protect him lol.

I was going to keep the video unlisted but since you seem to want to censor me I'll go ahead and make it public.

  • If it is a licensed character, I think it is The Wendigo from Until Dawn.

I have not ruled out it being an original killer though, we'll find out soon.
