Stridor was nerfed. It went from an additive effect to a multiplicative effect. Meaning unless you had more than 100% sound(at which point, do you really need Stridor to hear survivors?), it's gonna be worse. So unless you play Nurse with Metal Spoon or Freddy with Jump Rope, Stridor was gonna be nerfed either way. Iron Will 2+Stridor before? 100%, After Stridor changes? 75%. Stridor has objectively been nerfed.

And as for Stridor being ran on Spirit due to IW, Spirit didnt need Stridor to counterplay Iron Will. She has Scratchmarks, 175% movementspeed, footsteps, environmental sounds and movements. She literally had all the tools to counterplay people with Iron Will. Iron Will wasnt the problem, Stridor was(well, actually Spirit was, but a lot of people claimed Spirit was completely fine as she was, it's actually Spirit mains who got Stridor nerfed rather than Spirit being deafened during phase).

Calling Iron Will the disease when it has literally been a balanced perk since it's beginning, and calling Stridor the cure, while that perk was balanced untill the existance of a killer like Spirit is dishonest at best. You, as a killer, do not need grunts of pain to find survivors. Survivors can get away with more if they have IW equipped, sure, but you can say that about every single perk in existance. Even Monstrous Shrine helps killers getting away with more than if they didnt have the perk equipped.

Especially with Stridor increasing breathing too(making it easier to find people who arent injured or who are on the floor, so now there is a balance where you can get more free hits when survivors are uninjured and less free hits when they are injured, which is actually quite fair). There now is a power dynamic between Stridor and Iron Will, prior to the change, Stridor trumped Iron Will.

I guess it boils down to wether or not IW is considered a stealth perk, a chase perk ,or both, what i personally think is that is should not be both, IW is good in chase because it forces the killer to not try and mind game around LoS, you just risk too much trying to do so, you either lose distance, the survivor repositions or leaves while you try to do something fancy, and we all know the game turns into pallet breaking simulator when you just run straight after scratchmarks without trying some kind of mind game. If spirit is such an outliner, y suggestion of keeping regular breathing sound is fair for both sides, if stridor is a problem, that can be changed or reworked too, the perk was useful to exactly one killer wich is being adressed.

Its not a bug, its a feature.

As for other features you might not be aware off:

If you drop a survivor for 1.5 minutes, their wiggle bar regresses to 0.

If you slug a survivor in the endgame and wait for them to bleed out, you gain MMR as a killer(even though it is literally easier than finding hatch, which is a tie).

If you have 100% wiggle as a survivor, but the killer can press "hook survivor", the killer still gets priority, even tho it takes 5 million years to get 100% wiggle progress.

If you drop off the side of Thompson House stairs as a survivor, it counts as stagger even though it's knee length, while if you drop off the side of the lowest point of a cliff, it wont count as stagger, even though it's almost full body size difference.

If you have perks with the same effects in a different order, they might be applied slightly differently than you'd expect(as an example, before it got fixed, having Soul Guard before or after Unbreakable made a massive difference. If you had Unbreakable in slot 3 and Soul Guard in slot 4, you would use your Unbreakable even if there is a hex. If you had Soul Guard in slot 2 and Unbreakable in slot 3, Unbreakable wouldnt be used untill there was no longer a hex active)

All of these are not bugs and intended features(except maybe the bleedout one, yes, even the soul guard one was an intended feature at the time due to perks in the early days working that way, they changed it for the sake of fairness).

so you bring up a perk interaction wich by you account was already fixed because...? are you trying to make a point here? because all i see is a very textbook case of whataboutism, no one is talking about this other topics you brought lol.

I mean, Stridor boosting Iron Will is pretty broken due to the fact of Spirit existing. Even with her nerf, sound is her ally.

Besides, if you can hear 5% or 10% grunts of pain, you can hear footsteps and environmental rustling too. Making the 5-10% really ######### useless.

Iron Will is fine as it is, there are plenty of sounds to capture survivors up close. Heck, if a survivor crouches with 10% iron will, its basically 0% anyway, making that tweak only useful if survivors are standing still in a corner of a loop, rather than crouching(which is less visible), you'd change nothing.

If anything, killers who really struggle with the existance of Iron Will should have an addon that gives them a 50% increase in sound, like Nurse and Freddy, rather than changing the perks so they would have to be careful not to create anything like Spirit ever again.

Stridor was not nerfed , IW was changed to trump all stridor like effect, i used to run the huntress addon wich increase 50% sound on targets hit with hatchets , so addon wont help vs IW. People always bring sprit into the conversation when IW is mentioned but remember that spirit now has directional phase, so its no longer a strong on loops , and be honest, stridor was run on spirit because of the popularity of IW, you could even say stridor was a disadvantage vs survivors with no IW since the increased volume can me missleading.

there are some addons wich will increase the sound on wounded targets, but the last IW change made it so its no longer possible, i used to run the huntress addon wich pretty much gave you stridor on targets hit with hatchets but then the dev said that the 50% of 0% is still 0%.

  • Honestly the only change i would like to see for iron will is to not make the wounded sound but still do the defaut running/breathing sound as if you were healthy, it will still grant you protaction from tracking as basically wont give out your position but no being super strong in chase wich is the main reason why people run it due to LoS plays wich are still possible with regular healthy survivor sounds.

  • lets add it to the ever growing list of killer impacting bugs wich will never be adress since BHVR cant fix killer related issues without destroying the game in some way.

  • i have faced more hackers in the 2 weeks of SBMM than in the 3 years of my dbd playtime.

Add an old lady! We don't have any! They can start by being more diverse with ages.

why not? bill look quite old, we can have a retired russian kgb spy or something.

  • rembember when they patche the game to not allow survivors spawn within 24 meters of hex totems? well a few patches in that got thrown out the window.

    pretty much the same thing.

  • unfortunately sound bugs are never on the top of the priority list, mainly because its seems its a huge time investment for them just to release a new patch and have it be broken again. at this point i think they are not even trying to fix it.

That's called strategy. Do you know what those bad loopers can do just as good as the god loopers ? Hold M1 and repair. Why would I leave someone in the game that has the same skill cap in getting the objective done ?

Are killers not supposed to make the smart plays ? Scratch that I already know your answer. You want to play bots. Well theres good news for you ! There's bots in the tutorial to make you feel good !

Players ofter ignore this, holding M1 is a mechanic a rank 20 can do no problem, even if you want to be "nice" to them they can still screw you over if they just sit on a gen, they dont even need to be good loopers to advance the game, i know because its the one job we give to the greenest player in my SWF while we take care of the rest.

Nope. Playing solo and not being great yourself make you think everything OP. Hell just solo can make big brains think everything OP. Until you play at all ranks on both sides you don't really know #########. Oh and no you don't have to live in your moms basement to be high ranked on both sides. You only drop 4 ranks a month for fuks sake as he mentioned in another post. I believe his exact works were rank one moms basement dwellers maybe not exact wording but exactly what he meant.

I thought we had already collectively agreed OP is a sluzzy wanna be, people just keep falling into the trap.

But which was destroyed? The master, or the apprentice?

having multiple accounts on the dbd forums is a pathway to many bait posts some consider to be unnatural.

  • i can bet the rank 4 was the first one in chase, then notice no gens beign worked on while everyone else just crouching behind a bush, then dcd.

  • @odra said:

    is this sluzzy ?

Two of them, always are, the master and the apprentice.

  • Ok, i will give you my honest opinion on how to run nemesis, i have been playing him non stop since release, so here are the basics.

Hitting the tentacle is relatively hard to do since the hitbox is very thin , so while in close quarters you can play him as you would a huntress, stay close to him, move sideways, if he is greedy he will try whiping making the chase superlong, if you get hit, congratulations! you get a free speed boost to run to the next tile,if he gets tired he m1s you and he gets to stay a normal killer with no power.

while running to a pallet, try to listen or look back to see if he is reading the tentacle strike, if he is , dont drop the pallet and turn tightly behing cover , if he wiffs you get another loop, i he cancels to m1 you can either turn back and drop the pallet on him or get another loop. also crouching near obstacles can prevent his tentacle from hitting you, you can even crouch on dropped pallets and the hitbox will prioritize the pallet break over your hitbox.

  • Shift+w, i believe its in the tutorial.

  • so survivors hate hexes now? it seem that anything that interrupts their gen repair simulator gameplay is considered op these days lol. i would agree to nerf all gen regression perks if base gen speeds were adressed, but that wont happen, because longer gen timers means more time just pressing m1 wich is boring, its a weird paradox really, if anything running gen regression perks its what allows regular matches to happen otherwise games would be too short.

  • while getting targeted constantly can suck, sometimes this just means either the killer finds you easy prey or your team is too altruistic that targeting the weak link gets them off gens to try and conga line body block, wich is a win/win situation for the killer, if you dont want to get tunneled, dont get caught, if you can run the killerlong enough that can cause him to drop chase or outright ignoring you the rest of the match, you wont get tunneled as much. Remember not everything the killer does is a personal attack to you, they are trying to make the decision they think will provide the best outcome, wich at the end of the day its a big part of playing killer, decision making.

As survivor is your job to answer acordingly, do gens efficiently, learn when you are in danger, when to take a hook for the team, map awareness and gen location, etc. dont fall into the trap of " i just loaded in to press m1 and get out" mindset because you wont learn anything, a lot of that frustration comes from the fact that you ignore what is happening in the game and just restort to yell camper/tunneler.

  • TBH i have always found all classic nemesis "updates" on other RE games to look weird, the original look worked because of the washed up low quality FMV style from the original RE3, but everytime they have updated that original version he ends up looking super silly, mainly because they cant pull off a high res version of his skin, the original nemesis had a rotten look on his skin, almost like dirt while updates have gloss him over too much , too shiny and ends up losing that decaying feel.

Looking at BHVR's past balance decisions I predict nerfs

I think you are right, usually when they release a licensed character they do so under the impression its strong, then they cut them down on then next balance mid chapter patch, just look at Freddy, Ash and MoM, PH zoning, GF stalk refresh removed, Pig because why not, i think the weakest licensed character release was Demo since they had to rework shred to destroy pallets.

  • @gendoss said:

    and I can't get up.

i came here to see if someone would refference this, i am glad you didnt disappoint.

  • I would really advice BHVR to add the " Verbal abuse" tag to the ESRB ratting for this game, its pretty much the only purpose end game chat has.

  • Also other thing to note, the survivor you play may give the impression a hatchet is not supposed to hit, specially with female survivors, while visually they are smaller they still have the same hurtbox as males wich are usually taller, thus the illusion of BS hits.

  • so you know they cant repair a gen while running away at mach 3

  • I have notices some maps tend to trap zombies more, specially grim pantry, they get stuck on the top of the pier and they just stand there, there is nothing on their way or anything they just dont feel like patroling once they get there, also they have the same behaviour in some grass patches in those swamp maps, i guess grass is always creating issues with the game.

But they didn't. BHVR nerfs Killer stuff with no warning; Survivors always get a grace period. No matter, though; Once I get nemmy perked up, it'll just be a slugfest every game.

Reminds me of the time when they straight up told us 2 months in advance they were gonna nerf instaheals, those matches were miserable as every survivor would bring them to the game.

He's either bugged or just so big that he's getting stuck on objects that other Killers wouldn't. I got stuck at a couple of places on Family Residence that I normally wouldn't.

I bet he has a bigger collition box, looping around short loops feels like playing huntress, you just never catch up, odd on a 115 killer.

  • IDK but i bet this is a 100% Almo move.

  • the time commitment you need in order to infect and down a survivor just for the to get unhooked and go straight to the vaccine rendering you time investment useless while 2 gens are left its what prevents me to use his power as often as i would like, i am having more success with just m1 early to mid game while spreading infection every now and then while not commiting to the infected survivor.

  • cause a unicorn to blow its load on a survivor for maximum sparkles.

  • it doesnt make any sense, they are not even getting injured to justify it, it just make chases super long, what i do is just punch people early as to not give up my pressure but speed boost makes no sense.

  • well thing is you wait to load into a game to test new killer with no gen defense and barely any perks , then try to use you power 4 times aaand 3 gens are done.

  • call me crazy but nemesis feels as if he has a bigger collision box than other killers, if its true, that makes him weaker by default.

Well at least for the bhvrs' sake they didn't choose RE 7 Chris Redfield, I feel bad for the model ngl

You are right but this one looks straight out of a bad porn version.

  • She looks like she was caught halfway through stuffing her mouth with marshmallows and is pretending everything is fine.

  • I guess that, in good RE tradition, Chris looks nothing like Chris. nice refference BHVR

  • I always wonder why killers have to justify killing survivors, you never see people questioning why people do gens or unhook.

Most survivors would rather put the weight of their misplay on the killer's shoulders instead of owning up to their mistakes, a huge part of playing killer is learning how to punish dumb plays but you will never get any sympathy. So just do what you want, you can let them roam free or destroy them, just remember no survivor will ever thank you for your kindness and they will be more than happy to teabag at exit gates .

  • keys were fine in my opinion until BHVR decided to add hatch spawn location offerings, at least before you had to invest time into finding the hatch for a key play, not anymore.

The problems with the offering+key combo is that it puts a lot o pressure on the killer to try and kill people as soon as possible before 3 gens are done, basically keys make it so killers is on a lose/lose situation, if you kill anyone the hatch comes into play, but if you try to slug they can just do gens as normal, no matter what the killer does the key will be useful in some manner, imagine a killer offering that punishes survivors for doing the objective, like, every time you repair a gen you lose a hook state, keys pretty much do that.

Well, imagine if survs could do gens in 10 secs if 2 survs were dead and 2 or more gens wasn’t done. It would be strategy too, but we can’t

its not a strategy because its not in the game, we are talking real gameplay not your survivor fantasies.

  • i would like something like this just to have old freddy back, but i think this could be achieve just with an ultra rare addon, also the addon system kinda already achieves what you are suggesting , a variant system would have to change killers dramatically when it come to mechanics to justify it.

  • well playing killer and having 2 gens left with no one dead or at least death hook means you are behind on hooks, at that point your only chance is to take out a survivor out of the game as soon as possible, this is how you apply pressure, on a 3v1 scenario if you get a hook then you know for a fact the other 2 will have to risk getting chased while trying to unhook and therefore off gens, if chases are short enough you can keep this hook -chase-hook loop on 1 v 3 to net you a win, so yeah, nothing personal but someone has to die or game is over for the killer.

  • the only issue i have with iron will is that i wish it did what is supposed to, wich is no groans of pain while injured, instead survivors dont even have breathing sound at all on top of no groans, wich is not even in the perk description.

  • @PustulaSerumEnjoyer said:

    Yeah, that sucks.

I've had so many 3 gen situations were the survivors escape because a key, and you can't really do much about it.

Anyone knows when will the key changes arrive?

I think they are trying to implement a system that is woven in with moris.

Keys are like the old BNP, it pretty much removes 1 gen from the trial just by existing in it. I dont know why people act as if doint 3 to 4 gens is hard , the key simply punishes killer for completing the objective wich is kill survivors, imagine a killer offering that caused a survivor to lose 1 hook state if they repair a gen, pretty much the same thing.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Yes, for example leaving everyone to bleed out on the floor regardless of their proximity to hooks.

sorry but that is not griefing, read the game rules

    GRIEFING: INTENTIONAL GAMEPLAY ABUSE

    • Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates
    • Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience
    • Holding the game hostage
    • In-game report REQUIRED / Customer Support ticket OPTIONAL

  • if it were up to survivors they would demand an offering that puts a protective invincibility bubble around you until someone else is hooked, that way it would be "fair"

  • Well as a killer main i would also like some clarity regarding this topic, even though i know survivors will just report bomb me for not playing the way they want. To be honest it seems a bit irresponsable to just throw the Autoban system randomly with no context and then tuning out , if they were not ready to release a full statement with details i dont think they should have done it.

  • Survivors spawn on top of the totems anyway so its pointless to bring those.

  • @Gaffy said:

If you want outdated survivor/killer models, just look at the original 4 and wraith/billy. And I don't know exactly but I'm pretty sure they would need to get permission from the SAW copyright owners to change how she looks in-game currently.

Of course permission would be asked but its not like they need to re-negociate their contract or anything, i am pretty sure they expanded creative freedom when they negociated cosmetics. But back to your point, i dont think wraith or hillbilly are particulary in need of an update since those are original character with no point of reference, Amanda in the other side is downright deformed for someone who is supposed to be a regular woman and not a deformed freak.
