The stuff they use picks the closest server to you in relation to other players. Allowing you to pick regions would open that process up to abuse and manipulation. Perhaps if it is sending you to NA there are no servers/players closer to you which it can match you against.

No because people will abuse it. There's a reason VPNs are problematic.

    @Hannon said:

    Nope.

killers would chose the further server to have an advantage and hit survivors 10 meters away

Abuse it how? By being the laggiest player on the match? The game still considers the ping as a factor in hits (Playing in NA as a killer I got denied 2 hits because of the ping). Maybe we can instead to set a maximum ping so VPNs and regions are taken into account at the same time, making it impossible to abuse in anyway. I would love to set myself at max 100ping that way I avoid NA and can play in SA as I normally would do. Im just tired of getting some random matches with higher ping and there is nothing to do (Yeah, requeue is not a fix since yesterday I only got matches on NA server after 30+ tries)

In that situation it would be good if you looked behind you as well, but it looks like you are not being blocked by a survivor. And I think that might be related to this particular map. It's shelter woods, ain't it?

The same happened to me in that particular map and I could not break the pallet from the outside. Looked behind me several times to ascertain if I was not being blocked, and moved back and forth as well.

I don't know if it is related to the map, but sure looks like a coincidence that it happened to me in the same one.

Its a bug, is not because a survivor and it is related to the map. A lot of people are having this exact same issue.

  • 20201207222858_1.jpg

I got the same issue the other day. This needs to get fixed

  • You mean the rock at the bottom of the hill? Yeah, the alpha-beta-every single anniversary bug is back baby

  • There are no bans for stream sniping. And there is a bunch of salty streamers out there, dont even mind them. But next time be a bit smarter and dont go to the stream to say stuff like that, just move on.

  • @DanTheKendoMan said:

I played a match with a dude who admitted to stream sniping, (technically he said his "minions" do it and report to him our locations, but I believe that's irrelevant and not believable in that he even had "minions"), and he went on claiming it isn't against the rules.

Is that true? If so, why bother playing survivor with the amount of streamers that play?

I have screenshots of him admitting.

Not bannable, but dont that. People who streams just want to have a decent match, not get tryharded by a sniper.

  • This is probably the most irrelevant complain I have seen on this game so far.

  • Why would I like a "new mode" inside my bloodweb addons? It means I waste more time on the Bloodweb and into some random game mode that I dont want to play, is like getting forced to play a "farming" game when you want to play the normal Dbd game mode. No thanks.

  • MMR system was terrible. If it worked for you doesnt mean it was like that for everyone. The mayority of the player base, specially the new players were facing unfair matches and that is unnaceptable. And thanks the Devs for listening to the community. If they want to make it happen, make it work first then test it properly and then implement the system again making sure it has enough data to work in a balanced way for everyone. Until that day comes we are way better as we are with ranks system. End of discussion.

  • Post it on the bugs section, and rock bugs sadly have been for a long time 😔

  • The rift should be something like 10-15 levels smaller. A lot of the rewards are just charms recolored that should be on the free side of the rift and thats it.

  • Map rng is the most unbalanced aspect of the game. In a few words the same map can be survivor sided one round and the next totally killer sided based on how certain windows or pallets appear in the game and how certain tiles connect each other. I dont mind the rng but the way pallets, vaults and tiles works right now is not perfect and can sometimes bring some really bad "unique" tile chains that are not balanced at all, giving a massive advantage to one side each time.

Some people will say that some perks are overpowered and such, I personally disagree a bit with that, some perks are useless and others are very solid, in my opinion we dont have game breaking perks right now.

Battlefront let you get Darth Vader without paying money in the first place, It was still talked about as the worst pay to win game ever, DBD is exactly the same as Battlefronts model the advantages just cost less. No P2W game lets you purchase a free win. Darth Vader was still beatable and as for your argument for BBQ I disagree i think its the weakest perk there for my argument as it gives you the least amount of advantage in game and is more pay to progress than anything but it still is better than most of the free tracking perks and on some killers the best one.

Battlefront only deals with one license and DBD has to deal with so many different partnerships at the same time that ask for their own quota. Its understandable from that point why they choose this model in specific. Its not that great for the game but keep all the "businessman" happy so I dont think its a comparable scenario.

I dont think the game has a super heavy pay to win aspect to it, but sadly the balance make it so getting some survivors-killers is extremely important to have a "better experience". I dont think those perks or characters allow you an easy way nor give you a tactical advantage over someone who doesnt pay for DLC, but they allow you to have more options for builds, in my opinion is more about variety than power.

To put an example, I love to play with Surveillance, Ruin, Save the best for last and some other meme perk. I know that allows me to play in a certain way while some players who doesnt have any of those perks is probably forced to use other perks, mostly tracking and chase perks since slowing down gens perks are not very common (Nurse Thanatofobia and Huntress Lullaby being the only ones). But if you take a closer look you can actually win and have a good experience without any DLC, you dont need them at all, but having them gives you more choices and a lot of meme potential.

I do think the game is super grindy and the pay aspects are insane, they ask too much for too little, but and I dont think that makes the game a P2W as some people think.

  • @jzinsky said:

Well people are using them now, but unless they're going to use them without a microphone proximity chat will pick it up.

They're your choices, prox chat is always on so use it or unplug the mic

I hope they never ever add something like this in the game. This is the type of idea that seems good on paper but its going to be horrendous to deal with for everyone.

    • First there is no need for in-game voice chat, it will be hard to implement, will make the devs put more effort into more stuff that is irrelevant instead of fixing the so many bugs the game already has. No, we dont need more in-game communication tools, I know solo is different from swf and swf has a massive advantage, but adding audio doesnt fix that fact at all because is still better to use an external program even if the killer can hear you, the fact that you can still communicate from the other side of the map using a third program doesnt change.
    • Second if you force people into the in-game voice without them actually being able to put it off, you will end up with people abusing the system to just troll and be #########, and nobody wants that, even worse if the killer is forced to permanently hear everything the survivors say the toxicity will be off the charts. You probably are already mad for those t-bags, how are you gonna feel every second that you are called a baby killer and a trash player? If you say "Ah, but the killer can deactivate it" then what is the point of this? The only reason for this idea is the give the killer more control in audio form, but for that purpose is better to improve the sounds (which right now are bugged again), maybe even add a "Whisper" sound when two survivors are close to each other, but not this.
    • Third, there will be a way to put the system off and people will find out how to do it, making it even more irrelevant. You cant force people to use a voice system, that will only hurt the player base more.

  • You can jump off the border and the game will return you to the inside, most likely to the middle of the map. Dont know why but thats a thing.

  • As trapper you cant prepare the game against ooo, reason why the best you can do is go and get one hook as soon as possible, after that trap around that hook to deny every pallet/vault, it doesnt matter if they know, what matters is that you dont let them get an easy unhook so you can keep up the pressure going. As an extra advice dont go full prep Trapper with your perks, try to put in there some chases one, like Save the best for Last.

Im not a "Tunnel" supporter, but i agree with the idea of playing super aggressive with your traps, use them in chases to deny pallets or vaults, dont try to catch people off. You can try to deny the ooo by comitting to them but for the most part ooo players are better than the average survivor, if you commit yourself to kill the ooo player as fast as possible, you might hurt yourself way more at the long run. Consider that finding a weakling that you can use for easy chase-hook and then to get other players as bait is better for pressure than killing one player while everyone else is doing gens. The OoO player will avoid going for saves unless someone else is getting chased, that allows you to think forward and put pressure on 3 players at the same time forcing the OoO player to become a much easier target now that he is going for an unhook, instead of a normal chase.

  • The last time I checked it doesnt do anything, if you activate it or not you can still get matched with windows store players. Dont know if anything changed since then.

  • As far as I know a lot of people didnt like them because they consumed a lot of BP and used the spot for other more useful addons for the killer that you actually have. At the same time there was a bug that allowed you to actually stay with the killer on, level him up and keep playing him without paying until you change back to another killer.

To be fair they should have just added a "Free try" for kiilers, so you could choose a killer that you dont have and play him for a few games without paying to try them out directly into the killers section instead of an addon wich kinds of hurts your other killers more than you think.

I mean I'm not planning to play pig much outside of challenges she quite frankly cant keep up against good survivors at red ranks (at least not the ones that are trying hard). I just thought it was really weird that her ability didnt activate, I guess the fine print says it activates when a gen is completed (probably I'm not caring enough to read but its implied in the replies) I just think thats a really strange way for that power to work. Like if gens are on their should be power but I guess hers are battery powered or something?

I guess it probably had to be like that for balance? Or does anyone know if there is some like logical reason as to why it has to be a fresh gen pop? I'm mainly just curious, so if not its totally cool and all the above replies are appreciated, the mechanic just didnt make sense to me when it happened is all.

In the old days it used to kill everyone no matter what. It was too much, because you were able to keep your traps until the end of the game and then just prevent them from doing anything. Now is more like a gen slower built in the character power, wich is great and require that you actually do something during the match. A good pig will always use all the traps before all the gens pop.

I play her a lot, and I always manage to get all my traps set on survivors around 2/3/4 gens, depending on how good the game is going for me. And that buys me a lot of time to actually kill 2-3 players during the next 2 gens.

  • Show one of your games if you can. That way we can see what kind of issues you are having or what is the thing you struggle the most to achieve. Is is the chase? Is the lack of gen pressure? You cant find the survivors? Do you lose them on the chase? Are you getting looped? etc.

  • This game doesnt need to copy more of this competitives game modes balance systems. It doesnt need bans or map picks at all. What the game needs is to make every map healthy and balanced, improving the way random tiles works. So far every single update that has tried to make it more "competitive" has been a disaster that hurts the game.

  • There is no* reason to use it beside adept Laurie. It gives you almost nothing until everybody else is dead, and even then, the only way to make it useful is by running object of obsesion at the same time. Now, thanks to this post I will go and try to make it work somehow, dont even ask me how.

  • There is no selling used games on steam. Just gifts.

Thank for your time typing this. I know the builds and the tips but I just can't play him well, he doesn't suit me, I should git gud haha, while my friend play the same build and do much better. I think there are some killers that just don't suit your playstyle but I like Myers he is fun. But I think he need some tweaks so he could keep up with new killers. I think him or Pig are next on the line. Props to you for making him work, really glad there are people who know what to do with him

Oh I was speaking about Pig right there, sorry about that but thanks for the comment. But about Myers is weak at the early game but has a great snowball potential, similar to Oni, the addons to increase the stalking speed are really helpful. And a similar build for him will be:

    • Corrupt Intervention (To slow down gens and prevent them from popping early)
    • Save the Best for Last (To increase your snowball potential at T2-T3)
    • Thrilling Tremors or BBQ n Chilli (After a hook to make a good choice)
    • Infectious Fright (If there is someone around you really want to get more kills really fast)
    • Addons (2 for increased Stalk)

Myers early is really weak, reason why you want to stop some gens from getting done, at the same time Corrupt Intervention will help you get them towards you. In order to stalk in T1 keep distance, dont go in direct position to the gens, a lot of maps have buildings or hills or in the worst case some tiles that can help you stay hidden and gain your T2 fast. After T2 you can play like a normal killer, stalk a little, get some hits and 99% your T3 so when you can find one survivor in a weak spot and from that point onwards snowball hard. I usually manage to get to my first T3 at the 4-5Gen with corrupt intervention and manage to get one or 2 hooks-dying state at the same time. Dont be afraid of slugging when you get someone down if there is others survivors around or you want to take more advantage of your T3. Downed survivors are pressure.

Well, that's just my opinion, I can do little to nothing against red rank swf.. but that's just me, I think both need buffs

Here's some advice to help you out. Use a build that help you slow down gens - take advantage of your crouch and get some early downs.

    My standar build is this:

    • Surveillance
    • Hex:Ruin
    • Hex: Haunted Grounds
    • Infectious Fright
    • Addons: 1 Saw Box + Reduce Time (Both Purple addons) or 2 Saw Box (Purple + Green addon)

And the way I play is, try to get an early kill as soon as possible, I know already how spawn works so most of the time I can find the first kill working on a gen and getting a first free hit and an early kill before the first gen pops. After that first hook I run around the gens to see if they are worked-dropped or anything to see the effect of surveillance. That allows me to put enough pressure in the early game to use the traps for the mid-game without worrying about the gens popping out later, becaue of how little time they have to get the traps, they have to stop doing gens. That way I end up with 3-4k everygame.

As they should be, suvivors can't win games by hiding all game.

What? Since when a survivor can win by hiding in a locker? If you mean by DS, thats... just one thing that have a lot of counterplay.

  • To be fair, that will be great, its simple enough for this game to actually work and not get ruined by spaghetti code. I will add some more brackets, but overall way better for a casual game like this one.

  • A list of some things that good survivors tend to do:

    • Knows how to do 360° - spins and as a last resource or to avoid using one
    • Knows how and when to do mind-games and fake vaults in suboptimal pallet or windows to gain distance
    • Knows how to loop in one tile while keeping the pallet untouched for the longest time possible
    • Hugs walls and tiles as tight a possible
    • Will bodyblock and take the aggro for other surivors who struggle/are dead on hook
    • Will take the killer away from other survivors to reduce the pressure the killer can put on gens.
    • Knows how to chain tiles while keeping resources in them for the longest time possible
    • Will do gens in a interspersed (not sure if is the right word) to prevent a 3gen and reduce the chance for the killer to keep the pressure.
  • BBQ is a good tracking perk and extra BP is always good for more addons. I personally never use it because I prefer other perk combos.

dude why are they saying getting banned? I'm so confused I talked about having issues getting a job for my age?

This game is 18+ which means if you are underage you shouldn't play. You have 17yo and a guy assumed that as you are not meant to play the game you will get banned. But that is not true. That's all, nothing to worry about and nothing related to your question.

But.. is it realistic? No. Maybe they should be in a state of exhaustion from running for a long time lol

Nothing in this game is realistic. Just stop.

  • @ Antares2332 said:

Nobody would use it because it would have to run slower and if it wouldn't run slower then this game would have no realism.

What? Is the clown slow? Is the hag super fast because she is skinny? That has nothing to do with the character movement speed.

So far Jane is the closest to that description.

  • Its +18 yes, but they will not ban you for that. The other day there was a 13yo kid asking for youtube content without swears lol. Im pretty sure a big chunk of the player base is not over 18yo.

  • If you change the steam account you shouldnt have any issues as far as I know. Both on the same account is also okay btw.

  • image.png

Looking at them im a bit weird lol. The rest is pretty normal (WASD Movement and Mouse camera movement - 1&2 Emotes).

Killer version is the original version M1 hit M2 skill Space Vault-Hook-Kick-Open-Pickup

  • You can Google it. There is a bunch of tutorials about that. To put it simply go to the dbd folder and open the config doc, there you can set to false the fps cap.

  • The game has been out for 4 years and some bugs keep coming back. We know that stuff can take time and new patches will probably generate new bugs. But the amount of issues that the last patch has is a bit too much. For me the worst part of the game is the insane amount of bugs, the lack of response or communication from the developer team and the false information. Just look at the MMR system and the "We have already collected data" but now "It will take 20 matches to properly find your MMR" so why don't say the second state from the beginning?

The majority of players are old players, they have been playing for a long time and have seen many bugs for ages that never get fixed, like the sound one's. But at the same time we get responses and patch notes that says "The sound have been fixed" but it's not true because the issues remains. Why can't we have just a "We are looking for this issue and hope to fix it soon" and when you fix it, you fix it for good. Or keep a place to say we* are in knowledge of this issues and we are looking for the fixes as soon as possible.

This game is not an early access one, but after the last patch it feels that way (again).

Pig is love. Pig is life.

  • During the game press ESC and watch the names and the characters they are using. If everyone is using same character same cosmetic there is no way beside the changes on health and to keep a track of the names

  • The game is locked at 60 fps. If you want to change it you can go to the files and make some changes. You will not get banned for that as far as I know, because it doesnt actually change anything more than how you see it. I have uncapped my fps for 4 years so far. I have seen a lot of people with stretched res, so I dont think that is a problem at all. Streamers and Youtubers use that weird wide res a lot.

One thing, is that im pretty sure the game every patch will revert it to the 60 fps cap, so you will have to go back again and change it.

  • If you want a funny youtuber/streamer who doesnt swear, go watch Yerv. All the others swear a little or a lot, some of them are more educational and others are just about being "funny"

  • That happends when the killer is lagged, so they hit you in their screen (as hits are checked on killer end) and at the same time you put the pallet down, making it so both things happen at the same time. When a killer doesnt have lag, they will instead get stuned and the hit will be prevented.

They said they will change it at some point so hits will be checked on a "reasonable" range at the survivor end or something like that, dont remember exactly to be honest.

  • The best advice I can give is learn to move on. No matter if you play good or bad there is always the chance that someone will complain or be mean about it. Become a better killer, try to learn how to improve and outplay those type of survivors. To help you understand how to improve and at the same time keep a better mindset about what to do about those type of survivors go and watch Otzdarva. Nice guy, very good killer and always doing his best no matter how hard some games can be or toxic survivors become.

  • I will say go for David first because of We are going to live forever and Dead Hard. Will help you level up every other character faster and give you decent perks. If you are a new player dont go for Meta perks right off the bat, because that will hurt you more than help you. That is because you will be relying on those perks to survive without understanding all the elements of the game. Perks like Dead Hard or DS are useful but often players will make really poor decisions trying to gain value out of them instead of going for the smart plays at every moment and using them in the perfect time. Thats why I personally recommend going for information builds first, using perks like Kindred, Spine Chill, Alert (Feng), Bond (Dwight). And then combine that knowledge with useful perks that can help you make better choices at some points in the game like Adrenaline (Meg), Sprint Burst (Meg), Iron Will (Jake), Borrowed Time (Bill).

My personal order will be: David - Dwight - Meg - Jake - Bill - Claudette - Laurie - Nea - Jane

You can go watch Otz survivors guide wich can also help you understand a bit better why some surivivors perks are important but feel free to do whatever you feel like doing the most at the end of the day.

I understand if new players don’t know. But as a rank 1 I shouldn’t be playing with new players? Though with the new system in place, maybe things will fall into place. Who knows.

Well, the system is not working very well to be honest. I dont know if you check it very often but a lot of the time I play with players that are very new despite being rank 1 and having 1.5k hrs into the game. So Im never surprised to see someone who is really new in my games

  • Ah yes the amazing copy-paste definition from a super serious source called "ChangingMinds.org". Very good. This game also have a very distinct scenario of win-lose, that its so clear that you can depip with a 4k as a Killer, and much more. Love it <3

    The PS4 description says:

    - Continue a Chainsaw Sprint after breaking a pallet.

Thats the original PTB version, they changed the addon later for the Live version, but instead of putting the updated version they put the original PTB addons, reason why all of the addons are super weak and say something but do another on PC.
